something about the diaz home as a symbol of everything sacred to eddie.

something about the diaz home representing eddie's privacy and his life and by extension, christopher's, and that it's a constant, recurring motif of a life that he's built with his son. and it's always interesting to see that his home is always warm (in terms of lighting, color combos, etc etc) and welcoming, which feels so vastly different to the other two homes we've seen for him in eddie begins

something about the way he has to physically open the door to let people in to his life, and how many shots of that we've had of just him opening the damned door since. something about the way he physically lets shannon in in 2x07, or the way he braces himself with chris' encouragement before opening the door to ana in 4x08, or the way he happily lets carla in in 4x13 or the way he softens and smiles when he opens the door to buck in 6x12. it's in the way the only people we've really seen in eddie's home as "not guests" are the ones that he chooses to let in.

in that same vein, we can always tell when there's someone in there that doesn't quite belong. 5x11 is a prime example of this, and not just because of the episode title, "outside looking in." it's evidently obvious that the only reason taylor's in his house is for buck's sake, and maybe that's why we never see eddie actually letting them in. 5x03 is similar to that, in the sense that ana stays for three days with chris at the diaz home, but when eddie comes back, it's a metaphorical and physical mess that he's left standing in the middle of, alone.

and it's very, very interesting that we've never seen his parents in his house. ever. and yes, it could just be the fact that they rarely come to los angeles period, but i just think it's interesting in terms of eddie's journey with them, that the closest we've gotten to them physically being there is that facetime call with his dad, and that phone call with his mom - both of which happen after he goes back to texas in 5x17 where he point-blank tells his dad he's trying to be better for himself, and his dad meets him halfway. it only happens after his relationship with his dad starts improving.

i just constantly think of the diaz home front door, and now that i've thought of it, there's so many other moments that scream at me:

buck unlocking eddie's door in 4x14 and swinging it open to the party, and then later standing in the open doorway almost like he's protecting eddie and the life he's built in this one way because he couldn't protect him in the other way

buck unlocking eddie's door with his own key in 5x13, then bursting through yet another door to get to eddie, just to step in and sit with him in his grief - and how much that scene symbolizes that eddie may have built this life but it was after burying demons that later just crawled up through the cracks of his new home.

buck standing inside the diaz home after eddie gets home from therapy in 5x14 like this is a regular occurrence.

the way eddie's discomfort is visible in that split second scene we get of the police officers storming his home in 2x15

eddie asking shannon to leave through the back door because he may have let her into his life but he's not ready to let her into chris' and thus, he doesn't truly let her into his life - and actually, even the shot of eddie, chris and shannon at the end of that episode takes place outside the diaz home. which is...telling methinks.

eddie opening his door post-date in 4x07 to buck meeting him at it (always meeting him halfway), and just. the domesticity of it, set off by the warm lights, the discussion they have, and the looks on their faces the whole like

eddie opening his door to buck in 6x12, looking apprehensive for a second before he realizes who it is and his smile grows and eyes turn into heart-eyes and buck just pushes past him without waiting for eddie to step aside, only to go and swing his feet up on the coffee table like the diaz home is his, too.

there's so many examples but @sevensoulmates and i put this whole meta together because the symbolism in this tv show is off the charts

It's like they jump straight past metaphor and symbolism and foreshadowing right into patterning where nothing is consistent and meaningful, until it's convenient for them to be absolute about it. It's really weird, as someone who generally cares about thoughtful storytelling, because they make close readings of the text seem crazy??

Sansa has a suspicious amount dragon and Targaryen foreshadowing going on, for someone who has very little to do with them.

It has now been a week since prompts were released. Ideas already coming to you or do you need some help to get the ball rolling? Today, I will explain why I chose each prompt and how they could tie into a possible idea.

Mod Merry

Flowers: An easy pick for them both as they both have flower motifs. This prompt opens up plenty of easy low stakes scenarios like buying a bouquet for their anniversary, doing gardening together or higher stake ones too, like hanahaki or gardenverse. Its a very versatile prompt, I think.

Stars: An easy selection! Ryoken is the stardust boy after all. It can be taken in multiple directions, too. Not just star gazing but if you want to do metas on their astrological signs go for it or maybe an AU where they are movie stars, rock stars, any kind of star.

Manmade Technology: this prompt might prove a little tricky but the inspiration was found in Vrains' setting and of course the birth of the Ignis so mediations on either of them would be appropriate. Of course, if you wanted to get inappropriate, then things like sex toys are manmade technology, too. It was also chosen to evoke the Borrels/Rokkets so if you wanted to explore what if they had a personal connection to Ryoken akin to the Sunavalons, then you have my blessing.

Natural Wonder: Chosen to complement manmade technology and evoke the Sunavalons. I also inexplicably associate the song Seven Wonders by Fleetwood Mac with them so deal with it. Regardless, if you are in the mood to draw something with an epic background, this could be the prompt to excise that mood on.

Dragon: Evoked in honour of Ryoken given his deck. There's also dragon related tropes too for any tropers who want to make gifsets. This prompt is meant to run wild with canon mediations and fun AUs, good luck!

Ghost: Named in honour of Spectre. There's plenty of potential for fun visuals, interesting metaphors in this prompt, methinks. Can be either fluffy or angsty. Casper The Friendly Ghost AU? Sixth Sense AU? Buzzfeed Unsolved AU? Plenty of potential in this prompt

Following Behind: Ever notice that Spectre is (usually) portrayed behind Revolver/Ryoken in scenes they're together? I chose this prompt based on this visual.

Moving Forward: This prompt was inspired by the theme of the final episode, so its meant to open up possibilities on post-canon but of course, there are plenty of things either of them could move forward on or from.

Courage: Chosen to pair with cowardice, Ryoken exemplified courage as a child when he ended the Incident. I think this prompt opens up a lot of potential for angst, particularly on Ryoken's side, or could be taken in a different direction for Spectre if you wanted to complete or alter his character arc. In a completely different vein, its also a Digimon Crest so, Digimon AU anyone? I think a lot can be done with it.

Cowardice: Chosen first in this pair, I thought of Spectre's most negative trait haha and as such, it might be tricky to convey but another of the ample opportunities for angst if that is one's forte.

Dead Asleep: Inspired by all the comatose states that Spectre's been in over the course of Vrains.

Wide Awake: Chosen to complement dead asleep. Good luck. But there are definitely songs which include wide awake within their lyrics so that could open up potential for AMVs.

Free Day: the obligatory day which is a free for all. Do something not covered by the previous prompts, do something you enjoyed so much you want to do it again. There are really no rules so please have fun!

why the hive fckin suck at its job: a rant

spoilers for tgwdlm ahead!

first of all, it's important to consider what exactly the hive's job is. my answer is... who the fuck knows. literally. what is the hive's aim. what do you want Paul? more like, what do you want hive? let's find out!

it kinda evolves, as the play progresses. the intial aim of the hive, and one that does actually remain consistent is the constant burning need to grow and devour and gain more and more (insert capitalism metaphor here).

however, this is distorted by the people it possess who influence that aim, as we'll see later.

also the fact it crashes into a theatre displaying Mamma Mia gives the hive the motive it need to fit the world around it to the structure of the musical. having no originality of its own, the hive instead just picks up what is given to it. kinda like an evil baby.

it wants uniformity, that is indeed its ultimate goal and desire, no duh. it thinks it can achieve that through musical theatre, shame that the hive is dead wrong. cause the hive fucking sucks at its own job / aim / ultimate purpose / one concrete goal that motivates all its actions.

can't maintain control over its subjects

okay, so, the hive wants uniformity. it wants everyone to be dancing to the beat of its own tune. right? yeah. shame it literally can't keep its own possessed subjects in line at all. at the risk of sounding like the 10th doctor waxing lyrical abt humanity for the 50th time, humans are really difficult to control cause we're not really motivated by an altruistic allegiance to one primary good. we've got icky emotions that often move us to do stupid unpredictable stuff way more. it makes me wonder if the reason the hive wanted to use musical theatre to try and persuade ppl was cause it seems to think that is how theyll get emotive humans; through emotive songs. anyways. let's look at some examples shall weeeee?

Mr Davidson:

so, Mr Davidson. funnily enough, he's the guy whose in part acting as the hive trying to figure out what it wants through his interactions w/ Paul. every person it possess gives it just a bit more humanity and curiosity abt the world it is currently taking over. at least I think so. hence why as the musical develops u get character's like possessed!Alice wondering 'why does it hurt to love?' - the change in music and mood to something much more introspective really suggests to me that the hive is beginning to question the thoughts and emotions of its human hosts.

Mr Davidson is a family man through and through, he loves his wife Carol. she's his muse, his source of light. his feelings for her are not concrete or easy to explain and solve - hence why his sudden ahem demand of her is so hilarious and also jarring. it completely clashes with the 'I want song' which is simple, and often pushes forward a wider cause. not so with Mr Davidson, he just really loves his wife man. enough to break a frickin alien possession.

tbh I think its hilarious that (at least to me) the hive has to force him to forget and continue with the song, like, he straight up is just talking to his wife in that phone call, talking, not singing. so, no possession until he reverts back into song. ergo, the hive cannot maintain the uniformity it wants. even from the get go when theoretically its control should be stronger cause it has less ppl to co-ordinate. bad. at. its. job.

Paul:

this one hurts folks. yes, I know it's generally agreed, though somewhat debated that the state of Paul by the end of the tgwdlm is not purely possessed. I agree. once again, the hive is unable to truly enforce uniformity.

at this point, the motives of Paul and the hive are kinda just mixed, neither fully human nor fully alien. hence the constant shifts between pleeing for her to get away, to hide, to stay safe: 'what if the only choice is you have to sing to survive' and just full on old style hive nastiness 'let me puke in your mouth and just open your food bin girl' (so romantic 🥰 /j).

the hive has gone away from its original aim, and become something... different. no longer stuck to just one type of genre or style of song, it's really clever to show the developing complexity of the hive by showing how it is now juggling lots of different motifs with references to all the old songs from before recontextualised in a new way - its learning. evil baby... no longer uniform.

general miscommunication:

there are several instances of the hive not fully having uniform control over its subjects. for instance, right after not your seed with the three teens having to like... calibrate. they aren't just completely connected then?? also, this is a very small thing, but uhhhh at the end of inevitable when Paul is about to say the apotheosis is upon... the chorus interrupts him with USSSSSSS. interruptions??? not very in sync of u hive.

I think this inability to exert uniformity is also shown in the contrast between genre of musical theatre. my alien abomination cannot decide whether it wants to be the more modern edgy rock musical (join us (and die), not your seed ) or super happy go lucky old style musical theatre (lah dee dah dah day, and inevitable). it tries to do both, even while trying to encourage union, and sticking to one thing. hypocrite!!!!!

2. aims are guided by the people it possess

so, I mentioned this a bit already, but the hive isn't only mutating the humans, the humans are mutating the hive right back. this is more an interesting observation than any actual analysis but let's goooo.

greenpeace girl:

I think it's very likely that greenpeace girl is one of the first to be possessed. This is probably easily debunkable but whatever this analysis is flying by the seat or its pants anywayyyyy. why? cause where else would it pick up that whole 'this planet needs fixing' thing? it's interesting too, cause it morphs from expressing the desire to join hands and sing together, unity and peace with no actual action behind it. this then goes right to the other end, with the hive going 'fine I'll do it myself' and trying to save things by enforcing a dictatorship on the world. it develops and changes, and strays from its original means of accomplishing its aims! speaking oooooof...

3. inconsistent in means of accomplishing aims

okay, ur an evil hive mind. u think musicals are the way to win over these silly humans cause they're all weak and emotive and seem to respond to them. but, wait! schwoopsie! you haven't realised that for emotional depth and growth to mean anything, you need there to be established development and well... growth. otherwise the sentiments are as vague as the ones expressed in What Do You Want, Paul?

this show has genuine emotional moments, just not really during the musical numbers WITH EXCEPTIONS. any strife is smoothed over quickly, and so the development and change that would have to go into such growth is just gone. (see, You Tied Up My Heart) all so it can achieve its own desire to grow and grow and grow, maybe a metaphor for art being killed under late stage capitalism??

what actually matters is the impact the songs have afterwards, in causing a death - because we have a bond and care abt these characters. those short scenes between Paul and Emma are actually way more resonant than any song. except... inevitable, and also not your seed a bit. at this point the hive has learnt a thing or two, and can actually twist human emotion a little. but for it to do that, it has to reject the uniformity it prizes, and be adaptable. point towards being more human than it first thought? methinks so. and yet it's just not enough...

it's also why let it out, to me, feels really ingenuine. Paul has expressed himself in much better ways already. what they're doing is clearly paining him, and hurting the guy. he's terrified bless.

you can't force someone into being emotional vulnerable, man.

it's why all the deaths for the characters who are forced to express themselves are really violent, involving them being ripped open - literally forcing them to expose themselves from the 'inside out' as Alice reflects in Not Your Seed. you can't force genuine emotional connection, it has to be fostered, shown in the much more affecting relationship of Paul and Emma. the only reason the hive actually has power over our characters is because of these genuine emotional connections, which it tries and often fails to take advantage of, resulting in just resorting to brute violence. messy hive, very messy.

at the core, the musical's a kinda attack on that toxic positivity mindst: trying to force people to reach the sort of easy solutions by sharing feelings in a way that feels pretty invasive and deciding you are instantly fixed. the problems these characters face are jarringly not really what you'd expect a character in a musical to face, cheating, a lot of it, mid-life crisis. problems that are bland, or wayyyy too real. this is purposefully done, to reveal just how silly the hive's aim to use musical theatre to solve everyone's problem is. life is more complex than that smh.

4. a human can write a much more expressive, and genuine song than they ever could lol

u know which song I'm talking abt. what more is there to say. so much for making persuasive songs to tempt people over.

5. make me sad cause they took some perfectly nice ppl and funked them up 😭

this was a stupid point lol. basically I'm just bitter that this hive took a bunch of perfectly okay ppl and gave them hive brain. screw u hive. I swear I'm gonna watch Black Friday soon, cause I'm sure it's gonna completely destroy every thought I've had so far, but whateve,,, just take this as a look at tgwdlm like it's a stand-alone piece.

these guys are supposed to all be 'individuals' on one level, but also 'appendages of a much larger organism'. there's a little too much individualism and fracturing to be cohesive enough to do that I feel. the hive to me is not an infallible, unstoppable force, in fact, every human it takes over only brings it closer to understanding us. so that's maybe a slight positive note??? idk ?! I just have lots of thoughts and feelings abt this musical even if this doesn't make sense I'm proud i wrote it down hehe.

saint bernard by lincoln: this is one of those like. Dream SMP Songs that i added because it fits into so many different relationships and plot lines and arcs but i think there’s some connection to c!wlbur somewhere out there. idk i asked my friend and he said to add it so this one goes out to him

amnesia was her name by lemon demon: ghostbur song ghostbur song! mostly comes from this lovely animatic

o valencia! by the decemberists: okay this is one of those songs that only really has one lyric that fits but is an absolutely banger so it’s here anyway. you’ll also notice a trend of quasi love songs that i relate to c!wilbur’s perception of l’manburg and i think this song shows this in a really cool way, esp with the chorus (‘and i swear to the stars i’ll burn this whole city down’ is The Line)

achilles come down by gang of youths: another one of those Dream SMP Songs. i think this fits better with c!tommy but i like it too much to remove it. this is a somewhat common trend with the earlier songs on this playlist (i’ve been building this thing since january, for reference)

brave as a noun by ajj: another Dream SMP Song. i think certain verses fit better than others when it comes to wilbur’s character but that ones that work really work

harness your hopes by pavement: a song that is one here for vibes alone. i have no idea what these lyrics mean. all i know is that i heard it, thought of c!wilbur, and put it on the playlist. thank you all for being here

evelyn evelyn by evelyn evelyn: sad-ist made this a tommy and tubbo song (as she should) so it’s validity on this playlist is questionable but folks used to compare it to wilbur and tommy’s relationship during the pogtopia arc and i think some points were made there

the execution of all things by rilo kiley: i’m so excited to get here because this was the first song i put on the playlist that i think really works and i thumb nailed an animatic for the last verse and november 16th so! i think it’s a good l’manburg song and the last verse has some good ghostbur lines (‘and lately you’re all alone with nothing left but sleep/but sleep never comes to you, it’s the guilt and forever wakefulness of the weak’)

i’m just your problem from adventure time: this ones a bit tricky since at is my favorite show of all time and i cannot detach this song from its in-show context very well but there is a very cool animatic with this song that landed it a spot on the playlist

man burning by josh ritter: almost became an animatic but the audio i wanted to use (which i recorded at a josh ritter concert and it’s just him and his guitar and there’s echo and it’s very haunting and pretty) has my stepbrother singing in the background and i could not edit it out so. that will probably not happen. but anyways the only hole i would pick in this song is that it’s mostly about self sabotage which isn’t really applicable but i think the imagery is cool

mamma mia by abba: here me out. here me out. this is another song that fits so well and i have spent so many hours thinking about this and somewhere there is a note on my phone explaining how every single line relates to c!wilbur’s entire arc from founding l’manburg to the resurrection (made when we thought gbur was going to get resurrected in january) and just. the metaphorical ‘you’ is l’manburg does this make any sense (another almost animatic except now that wilbur’s actually back it might become an actual animatic)

the other side of paradise by glass animals: no idea why this is here other than being a Dream SMP Song. it’s good tho

infinitesimal by mother mother: they saaaaay it stared with a big bang but they saaaaaaaay it came out of a small thing latelyyyyy i’ve been feeling like a big bang You Know

curses by the crane wives: had a thing drawn out for this song showing the comparisons between c!wilbur and c!niki because of the chorus and i think the last two lyrics of said chorus are the best thing about this one

lonely eyes by the front bottoms: gotta admit that i have no idea how this song got on here but i’ve come to associate it with ghostbur based on vibes alone. it’s a friendly song he’s a friendly ghost it works. the other tfb song coming up fits a bit better methinks

king of new orleans by better than ezra: not to put better than ezra on my c!wilbur playlist but like. something about the whole ‘tasing something up to let it fall’ motif makes me think

montgomery forever by the front bottoms: certain bits and pieces of this song fit so well, specifically the chorus and those bits in the last two choruses Yeah (’montgomery forever and ever and ever and now they’re blowing it up/(x2)/as you started laughing and crying and trying to explain how all you want to do is leave’)

don’t look back in anger by oasis: out of all my almost animatic songs, this one got the furthest. the animatic, which I got pretty far in thumbnailing, was about wilbur and tommy and kind of drawing comparisons between their characters, also about the revolution in general. maybe i’ll finish that animatic one day idk

snow by ricky montgomery: i wish i had a link for this so bad but!! saw art on twitter!! with the lyric ‘bury me six feet in snow’!! and went ahfsdjfk!!

burning pile by mother mother: a Dream SMP Song. also a jam there’s no real specific connection for this one but i think it could fit in a couple of ways

rounds by the oh hellos: in the same position as snow except it was on tumblr..... @ whoever made this comic i saw these lyrics in your brain is massive and your art is incredible

lovely by mt. eddy: on here for vibes alone. there’s something in the lyrical content too, but my thoughts in that regard are not very fleshed out

adventures in solitude by the new pornographers: ah yes..... the song that prompted this all...... this is a beautiful and incredibly well written song and if you’re going to listen to any song off of this playlist i’d encourage you to listen to this one. it’s place of here is mostly cause of the chorus but the imagery in the verses could all represent a part of c!wilbur and i’d love to explore that more

caught in the middle by paramore: obligatory paramore song. i think it got on here because limbo = ‘middle’ but i’m not quite sure. on the verge of being deleted if i can find a better pmore song

delicate by damien rice: one of the oddest songs on this list and i am well aware that it sticks out like a sore thumb. a song that’s on here pretty much because of one lyric, which is ‘and why’d you sing hallelujah/if it means nothing to you’ which i related to both eret’s betrayal and how my l’manburg is hallelujah yknow

bang! by ajr: almost animatic song. i think we all know what the bang is here

somewhere only we know by lily allen: ik i said don’t look back in anger has the most potential to get made into an animatic but this song might actually take it place. on par with adventures in solitude in terms of how pretty of a song it is, and probably even moreso. it’s kind of turned into a ghostbur song in my head, and makes me cry like an infant child every time i hear it

a pearl by mitski: i cannot defend this song’s place on here past the line ‘it’s just that i fell in love with a war and nobody told me it ended’

eight by sleeping at last: the official c!wilbur song needs a spot on here <3 if i can dig up the clip of cc!wilbur talking about this song in relation to his character i’ll add it but until then yeah <3

always by rilo kiley: no idea why this is on here but it fits well!! could not tell you why!! banger!!

celebration guns by stars: it’s a hauntingly beautiful song about war, and kind of one of those that necessarily isn’t about wilbur but moreso his place in the story? idk how to explain it but yes

dead weight by jack stauber: no real connection other than eret played this song during a break during the ghostbur’s january ‘resurrection’ and i heard it and went :0

point me at lost lands by tired pony: gives me season on l’manburg vibes..... i love how free and passionate it sounds and that's p much the only reason it’s on this list haha

ghosting by mother mother: added this five seconds ago because i could not BELIEVE it was not on here. ghostbur song. mans sang it on that one stream with the reverb and everything. the lyrics ‘i will be kind and i’ll be sweet/if you stop staring straight through me’ hit particularly hard back when everyone thought that ghostbur was actually wilbur in disguise

Meta Tag Game

RULES (copies from op): this tag is an opportunity to infodump any cool meta about your wip! this can be anything you like: lore, worldbuilding, character development, metaphors, themes, symbolism, etc. just any cool details about your wip that makes it what it is.

Figured it seemed fun and wanted to try it out! I wasn’t tagged but I’m a greedy little bastard who longs to ramble so shhhh (because of that I’m too nervous to direct @ if you were wondering why the slash was there sorry)

The Book of Broken Strings Meta

The first thing that comes to mind is the string motif! I got the title idea at midnight thinking about String Break Song by Charming Disaster and was like ‘hmm, methinks I shall shamelessly lift this title and then lean way too much into it’, and so I did! A first, it was just a metaphor that would come up a few times, that people and their lives are like strings in a tapestry, winding and tangling but eventually ending up as something beautiful, even if you had to cut some away to let the rest grow. But it slowly became more and more literal, and now Weavers, who look over the tapestries, are actual people, who both the protags and villains meet and consult with several times throughout the story. My favourite hamfisted metaphor with them so far is the one the main group goes to, Petra, showing Ollie a blue and red string that are hopelessly entangled with eachother, and says that it’ll take some work, but once they’re untangled, the blue shall add so much beauty to the tapestry. She then gives him a blue string to wear on his wrist, and the whole audience groans with how obnoxiously obvious the whole thing is

I’m a slut for character parallels, and I have been having a LOT of fun with the main two villains, April and Copper. They’re both abusive dirtbags but operate pretty differently, and have much different levels of control over their victims. The whole theme of the story is kind of about dealing with trauma from abuse (bummer, sorry), and while I knew immediately most protags would be like ‘y’all suck’ (except Ollie @ April at first but he gets there), but I didn’t realize until a big plot reworking how fun it’ll be to have the villains be disgusted by eachother, not realizing just how grossly similar they are. I’m also looking forward to Eir, Coppers wife (widow at that point good for her), completly putting April on blast for thinking she’s any better than him

In a similar-ish vein, I built the magic system around a weird version of consent on purpose, so that while April now has way more power in terms of kinda being a supernatural being, she also has to actually listen to consent for the first time in her life and that fact brings me immense satisfaction. However she’s clever enough to twist those rules unfortunately, but she still gets what’s coming for her in the end so it all works out

【season finale liveblogging ; spoilers below】

Nice, we finally get to revisit a scene but from Mr. Robot's POV. I believe this is the first instance this show has done this.

Aww cute they had Elliot start off repeating the same lines. Not sure what Sam told Rami, like how they wanted him to portray this side of Elliot, but it's still not as outwardly cavalier and cheeky as Christian's take on Mr. Robot... This is more like manipulative!Elliot at Steel Mountain. It's just interesting to note the difference between the 2 actors' body language while they're taking on the same persona more or less. I'm sure that difference is intentional tho, because no doubt Christian and Rami could bag that role (if it was required of their roles that they needed to adopt the same body language).

Ahh, fate. The heavy f word. [side eyes Lex's meta about fate and Lawlight in Death Note **Lawlight-Tyrelliot comparison intensifies**]

(The Redditors were right about episode 9 - when she let Cisco steal her food and she smiled at Cisco that was as close to normal and her admitting her love for him as she could get - while he was still alive anyway ;__; Cisco you poor dude)

If Darlene isn't the ringleader and neither is Elliot (the one that's fronting rn) THEN WHO WAS PHONE

(ok fr I really liked that they echoed that word back-to-back in these 2 scenes. Smooth transition.)

Oh Tyrell and his dramatic metaphors. Boy should've gone into theatre and poetry instead of tech tufjejfjdjkdk (honestly tho who does that? Speak like he's gonna start a dramatic monologue and then stalk away...?)

"the paper records ... titles and deeds, the bloodline of all real property in this country" I really like that line. 'bloodline', huh. Peculiar choice of words, seems like it could be something significant hmm

Omg that dream sequence in S2E04 fucking foreshadowed this!! And there I thought it was just a symbolic callback to Fight Club. And how ironic is it, that Elliot tried to stop an explosion in S1, yet here we are. When Mr. Robot wants to blow things up there's nothing that can stop him djfjjcdjc

Oh so that's her play... And with those bruises around her neck it's gonna be an easy manoeuvre

(sometimes I wonder how on earth someone as stone cold and transparently snake-like as Joanna, who clearly says things and does things with an agenda all the time, could get men to fall in love with her and do her bidding. First Tyrell, now Derek. But then I remembered that majority of the time when we see her in a scene the scene occupies her POV - like the case with Light in DN, the audience knows everything he knows. We know all the ways Joanna is deceptive and always manipulative, but the other characters she interacts with do not know the whole story. Terrifying to think if I run into her on a street I'd probably be completely fooled by her too.)

Oh wow turns out Dom has some bite in her! The way she lays out all the incriminating evidence pointing to Darlene in succession... This whole season I thought she was a bit vanilla and boring of a character as her arc so far has mostly been a procedural... But all that time spent following her around the breadcrumb trail? Indispensable. Without that buildup of information we wouldn't have this terrific scene now. And she truly is so capable and formidable of a detective.

(And the way she reads Darlene and gets inside her head. There's this interesting rivalry/connection between them almost parallels the Tyrelliot dynamic)

"The patient predator" -- while she stares at Darlene!! Bitch. That line has major Domlene vibes don't @ me

Dom's saying what we all thought happened to Romero (that is, being a victim of Dark Army's hit list) ajdjdjdjkf Sam being meta again and literally shouting out this subversion of expectations. Romero's death is a macguffin...

WHAT. SAM. HOW COULD YOU END A SEASON LIKE THIS.

that post-credit scene isn’t even satisfying... like, no intrigue unlike S3... i guess there was some closure knowing Mobley and Trenton are safe... and it’s interesting too i suppose since Leon is never supposed to cross paths with other (ex)fsociety members.... Can’t say I didn’t see that coming though because I knew he was gonna be in the post-credits scene (since his name came up during credits and he wasn’t in the whole episode)
