The state hearse! This was the vehicle that transported the late queen from RAF Northolt to Buckingham Palace. Here are few interesting facts about the hearse. Built by Jaguar Land Rover, the hearse was designed by the royal household with the queen having been consulted on the plans. Some of you may recall Prince Phillips Land Rover hearse raker on this year. This was specifically designed by him for the occasion. The hearse has some unique features. Firstly the queens cypher on the bonnet. EIIR and the paintwork is finished in royal claret instead of the traditional raven black most hearses are finished in. There is also a glass roof on the hearse so that the queens coffin could be viewed from the sky by news helicopters. The press have made a big deal about the side windows being made of glass as well, but if any of you have seen a UK hearse, then you’ll know almost all of hem have side windows as standard. Had a good day at the funeral chapel. No #embalmings or #repairs so I settled in for some office work😭 Sigh, it wasn’t very physically strenuous, but it was EMOTIONALLY taxing. haha I don’t have a desk or office of my own so when everyone is #working I usually take my laptop and head straight into the chapel. It’s quiet, there’s mood lighting,.. it usually smells good... Fantastic, day today spent at the 2022 NAFD National Funeral Exhibition. It was great to meet up with some old work colleagues who I hadn’t seen in ages. And it was also good to bump into the people I’ve only ever spoken to online and to finally meet them face to face.
