These are a few of my minecraft headcanons I base my universe around. This one is very witch heavy ^^"
• Witches have a lot of variety when it comes to appearance, as they can look like how they usually do in minecraft to looking like a villager. A definite way to tell a witch apart from a villager would be their eyes. Witches' sclera (white part) will always be a lighter more pastel color of their iris.
• Witches have covens that are strictly family only.
- It's not very common that they let outsiders join their coven but it isn't unheard of.
- Coven alliances exist. They are formed through many different ways but the most common are through trading ingredients or marriage.
• Potions are considered a high value item because the ingredients required to make one are hard to get.
- Ancient witches were able to figure out how to grow netherwart but in "modern" times only certian covens know how to do that and therefore it costs an arm and a leg to get some.
- Blaze powder, being almost impossible to get in large quantities, as their only access to the nether was destroyed after the defeat of the piglins long ago. Now it has led to some witches becoming allied with the woodland illagers for the sole purpose of stealing brewing stands, deconstructing them for powder.
• Villagers and Witches are neutral towards eachother. Though, depending on the village, some villagers will have a negative view towards witches because of their alliance with illagers. Some villages are kind enough to let lone witches trade with their local cleric.
•Witches and Illagers are unwillingly passive with each other. They get to have access to limited materials and in exchange illagers get access to potions and healers.
•Witches are cautious around other witches that aren't part of their coven since it's very common to have materials stolen by rival covens.

All Minecraft Potions Are Spicy: An Essay
I came to this realization when writing a MCYT fanfiction where the cubito is an alchemist right
Milk cancels out all potions. Milk also cancels out spicy food irl
Spiciness is caused by the presence of the chemical capsaicin, which is most commonly found in various peppers, and is cancelled out by the protein casein that is found in natural animal milks (please forgive my rudimentary Googling science for these terms not being 100% scientifically accurate.)
Therefore, for Minecraft potions to be cancelled out by milk, they must likely include capsacin! (It's probable that for the actual effects to be cancelled out, the effects' activation process probably is tied to capsacin, but this is getting out of the realm of Quick Google Research.)
Now, ALL Minecraft potions are cancelled out by milk. So it has to be a common factor in the brewing process for ALL potions.
Now, the only true two shared ingredients in all potions are water (probably not spicy unless allergic) or blaze powder. I first thought it could possibly be nether wart, as a plant-like from the Nether dimension, except weakness potions do NOT use netherwart! They're the only potion not to, as they are made from pure water. Therefore, blaze powder is the universal spicy factor in Minecraft.
By this conclusion, we can assume blazes produce capsacin, and it is at least partially stored in their rods, as that is where the powder is crafted from.
I now want to see Minecraft people use blaze powder in cooking as a seasoning. Would cooking with a blaze rod- either as a tool, or like bay leaves where you take them out later- infuse more spicy into a dish? Does blaze powder add in specific color to a dish? Is adding blaze powder to an otherwise-normal dish a common prank? Are alchemists and witches nearly immune to the spiciness of potions after working with the ingredients for so long, they've developed a spicy tolerance? Do splash potions cause people to tear up from the capsacin that's been areolized? If glowstone increases the potency of potions, would it also increase the spiciness? Is glowstone dust edible?
THIS IS A WHOLE NEW WORLDBUILDING THING TO EXPLORE, MINECRAFT PEOPLE HAVE A COOKING SPICE!!

The alliance between witches and illagers is so shakey its kind of funny. They both know they gain from working together but god do they wish they didn't.
Witches manage to keep their alliance by keeping potion recipes, and antidotes to themselves. The ones that are allowed the "privilege" of staying within mansions pass on illager fighting tactics to the others in case potions alone won't fend the illagers off.
Illagers don't like anyone that isn't them. Even then that's kind of debatable. In fact they view witches in the same way that they view villagers, below them. If it weren't for the fact that illagers are too busy figuring out a different type of magic, and if witches weren't to gatekeepy with their brewing knowledge, they'd have broken their alliance long ago.
They're both passive to eachothers faces but behind closed doors they hold such disdain against the other. It's a miracle they're even able to work together at all.
