I hate the design of minecraft villagers

they're huge-nosed, money hungry, ugly, primitive, golem-making explicitely-non-human humanoids. unless of course they're the evil dark-magic practicing main villains of the universe (who are also huge-nosed ugly non-human humanoids). And people still deny how antisemetic the designs are, despite the fact that Villagers were designed by Notch, also known as Markus "Q is legit. Don't trust the media" Persson.

So! I decided to fixit.

I could just make them humans, but I'd prefer keeping to canon and having players be the only humans. So, let's make them anthro animals like Piglins!

I think sheep is the best animal, as they can be docile symbols of peace like Villagers, or aggressive headbutting gremlins like Illagers. The lore of villagers and illagers shown in MC Legends is basically that they both blindly worship humans, right? Might as well make them literal sheeple!

(Yeah, turns out it's ridiculously easy to make a resource pack that replaces models.)

Introducing: Lamblets & Ramlets!

The two species differentiated by the Ramlets having horns, while the Lamblets do not. However, that might not always be enough to differentiate them at a glance. Not as easily as you can with the vanilla beige vs gray skin. Therefore, there's four versions of the pack, to suit your preference of what type of balance you want between gameplay and variety.

Simplicity The most similar to vanilla - Lamblets have beige skin and white wool, while Ramlets have gray skin and dark gray wool.

Variety Lamblets have beige skin and Ramlets have gray skin. Both have one of 6 random wool colors - white, gray, dark gray, black, brown, and rarely, pink.

Diversity Lamblets have random wool and one of 4 random skin tones - beige, white, gray, and black. Ramlets have random wool, but always gray skin.

Canonicity Both Lamblets and Ramlets have both random skin and random wool.

Lore time i love to talk about them sm

Once they had a prom-like event celebrating the young illagers' victory on a raid, and everyone had been chosen only Mirella and Eris were left out so they decided to dance outside of the room, so nobody could question their behavior. They were now somewhat in love with each other but Eris thought it's just being friends since she's never felt this way before. After the dance, both of them stayed at Eris' room for the night, and they drank some of Eris' wine, then they slept (together or not together who knows:3 i do tho) then the next day they went on a trip to a flower field and Mirella told Eris about how much she likes flowers and pretty bouquets with her favorite flowers (white tulips, roses, alliums, sunflowers, poppies, daisies) and then a few months later Eris brought her a bouquet of exactly those flowers, which shocked Mirella because Eris was seemingly not listening when she told her all that

The ominous banner/Illager banner is a cursed object woven and sewn with magic-infused fabrics and thread, and anyone with short or long-term exposure to the banner's magic becomes afflicted with Bad Omen.

Contrary to popular belief, Bad Omen is not always intended to trigger raids, though raiding is the easiest way to berid yourself of the curse (aside from drinking milk.)

Bad Omen has been observed to have multiple effects on those under the banner's influence. The effects come in waves that last roughly 5 days, as the magic slowly drains from the thread and fabric, each day of the curse being worse than the previous.

Bad Omen, when the banner is kept away from a village, typically starts off as just a string of bad luck... perhaps you keep stumbling over tree roots on your journeys, or you forget your torches at home and don't realize until you have made it far down into the mines... by the final day of the curse, however, you become deathly ill, delirious and plagued by nightmares. Your survival is not guaranteed, but you have made your choice and have decided to ride out the curse.

Illagers, Villagers and players alike can fall victim to the curse if exposed, and those afflicted often report odd supernatural occurrences, mental changes, as well as fits of extreme violence when in the presence of the banner.

Many of these reports include, but are not limited to:

- entire camps being massacred by the individual afflicted.

- the afflicted being driven to seriously harm themselves, such as though self-multilation or attempted self-drownings.

- the feeling of being watched when in the presence of the banner.

- Hearing voices when alone with the banner. At first the voices are often incoherent... bits of mumbling often followed by laughter. Once the banner is first "heard," however, the voices become stronger and can be heard by the afflicted while with other people, or even while not in the presence of the banner. What the voices say at this point is considered unspeakable.

- visual hallucinations—often tall, dark, cloaked figures standing over the afflicted while attempting to sleep.

- intense insomnia and heightened anxiety.

- increase in intrusive thoughts and paranoia.

Due to Bad Omen being magically tied to the banner, the curse is transmittable to others, and spreads through physical contact with it: from the one who wove the banner, to the patrol captain, to whomever is unlucky enough to carry it next. Some choose to ride out it out or start raids to break the curse, while other groups have been known to play an unfortunate game of hot potato with the banner until the magic fully runs out.

*A Wandering Trader enters the village on his Llamas, it wasn't the usual trader though...this one was a bit..off? He had gray skin and very disheveled looking robes, he has blue eyes and a deadpanned expression, the trader gets off his llama and starts to unpack what he has for sale, potion ingredients and other things usual traders never have for sale. He sits there on a bench and waits for someone to come along and purchase his wares. One of his Llamas lies down on her belly and rests with the other llama who is munching on a carrot.*

"Oh a trader~ perfect timing." A toolsmith villager smiled "May I see your trades my good man? I'm looking for something that might help me out..."

Asher is lying in the grass, he was feeling a bit sickly and feverish, that's what he gets for not listening to Mia when she told him to wear warm clothes when they were in the snowy biome. Said Guardian Vex was looking down at him with her arms crossed. "I get it... You told me so.." Asher grumbled to her annoyed. "Leo went to go find someone to help you, Ash. Just rest for a bit and I will keep you company." Mia landed in his red hair to rest her wings, she hoped her lover was alright as he would have to travel far to the nearest village. The young Illager below her sneezed and coughed as he groaned from the pain of his sore throat. He wished his mother was still alive so she could take care of him but all he had was his Vexes.

There's a mod that allows you to pick up Villagers, so imagine one for picking up Illagers. You could pick up all types and carry them around on your back, slung over a shoulder, or frontal. The frontal would give you a view of a grumpy face and narrowed eyes. Then you could place them somewhere like in a room, pen, or mining cart, or even a bed.

Taming Illagers would allow you to do this unharmed but picking them up "feral" would deal half a heart of damage continually like you were being poisoned.

Due to being so close to the Player like this they wouldn't be able to do their normal attacks, so the damage is from them likely biting, scratching, or hitting. And maybe their grumpy noises could get louder or the mod could add a new one for when the Player picks them up.

minecraft should track villager and illager reputation so you have a choice. villagers trade, but maybe at enough reputation illagers will help you in combat, and have limited versions of trades which are more illager-themed. you could ride the big creature thing around and ram into things. riding the creature thing is probably enough to nerf villagers because why befriend them when you could ride The Creature.
