I do maintain that partly why Israel is losing the PR war is that they can’t stop the IDF acting like fucking idiot monsters on instagram and tiktok.
Makes you wonder what would have happened if social media had been a thing during the Iraq war.

My sister said something to me earlier today that further solidified the idea that generations before mine have been constantly made to feel intimidated or afraid of this government and the horrible people who work for it and push its agendas. “They’re watching your social media if you’re not careful about what you say they won’t allow you to get a job or be successful.” Is one of the main things they’ve taught my sisters generation. I told her that you couldn’t intimidate a generation of people who’ve never had this countries protection, care, or protection. I couldn’t give a fuck less if I’m being completely honest with you right now. There’s absolutely nothing this country or the people in it could threaten me with in order to make me shut the fuck up about what they’re doing and the shitty choices they’ve made as a collective. You’ve told generations of Americans that if they don’t shut up and submit to what you’re doing and pushing that their family members would need to move into a state of fear and be afraid for them and that they should be afraid for their livelihoods, their success and their ability to create and build foundations for themselves and it’s about time people get to hear that loud and clear. The fear mongering and the oppression and the silencing of people in this world has got to stop and you only stop cycles of behavior by no longer participating them and changing the way that you behave and react.
They’re trying to make your children uneducated and ignorant by stopping the creation of educational television programs and creating shows and media meant for them that start fucking with their minds from an early age, our teachers are severely underpaid, the curriculum in schools is lacking, they pass laws to take race theory out of the curriculum and stop teaching about the history and oppression of people of color. They ban and attempt to sell apps to American companies so that they can better censor the content that over 1 billion people are consuming every single day that has allowed the truth to spread faster than lies for the first time since this country was founded.
You fucked up letting our generations students with progressive and out of the box ideas into Ivy Leagues to climb your elitist ladder and subjecting generations of individuals to generational trauma and oppression. People have been waiting over forty years for this generation to come into existence. We’re here now. It’s too late.

This sucks. These prices and these wages (and my own lack of them) doesn't fuck in the slightest.
And based on my recent posts and notes...y'all wanna strike huh?
Well since you insist on not doing it without formal organizing, can I ask if you've heard about the IWW and if you have, have you joined it?
"By age, workers ages 45 to 54 had the highest union membership rate in 2022, at 12.6 percent. Younger workers—those ages 16 to 24—had the lowest union membership rate, at 4.4 percent.
In 2022, the union membership rate for full-time workers (11.0 percent) was double than that for part- time workers (5.5 percent)."
I'll take that statistic from the BLS file on Unions as a 'probably not' since I don't have many older people following me.
Well, joining this union can provide you with all the formality and organization you'll need to get started and without compromising your say as an individual worker.

TLDR: Anyone, yes even if you're unemployed, can join as long as you have at least $6/mo and aren't a manager. No union bosses either. The idea is that it's One Big Union. Meaning it's strength lies in it's solidarity from unifying workers across All types of employment.
It's just a matter of finding your local union and they will help you with the rest.
Worried you might stand out?
In 2021, 14 million U.S. workers - or about 10.3 percent of the American workforce - were members of a union.
That's 1 in every 10 workers. And
In 2022, 16 million wage and salary workers were represented by a union[...]" (Bureau of Labor Statistics Union2.pdf).
You quite literally will be just be one of the tens of thousands joining a union everyday.

Social scientist Damon Centola's new research shows a cascade of change is triggered when 25% of a population embraces an idea.
Minority views of what is acceptable quickly become majority views. Historically, majority- rules economic thinking assumed change happened when 51% of a population wanted it. But in 1977, Harvard University's Rosabeth Moss Kanter studied tokenism in the workplace. She found that women as small minorities were subject to an oppressive culture of discrimination and harassment. But when women occupied 20%-35% of leadership roles, work culture shifted.
Centola's 2018 small-group experiments show how sensitive the tipping point is. Sometimes adding just a single person to the committed minority meant hitting 25%-and the transition from failure to success. Varying numbers of activists were planted into groups in 10 trials.
So if 10% are already unionized then we're halfway there... in a way.
Why join a union?
It's largest tool is collective bargaining, that's why organized strikes work better, it guarantees you have people supporting you. Using numbers helps enforce demands and rights be met.
Tumblr media
We know unions work because they gave us all these things already.
Tumblr media
So like... Yeah..
Join a union. Even if it's not IWW. Join one.

My dad mentioned that one of his students this quarter is a trans guy named Lukas and I jokingly said "Oh, is he a Hetalia fan?" And my dad goes "Yeah, he has a Hetalia keychain on his backpack. How did you know that?" and anyway I hate it here.

Random things I remember about being a huge Creepypasta nerd in middle school:
All the different " [Person's Name] The Killer" OCs on Deviantart
The fanart that made the guys look attractive, the dating quizzes...
Watching Marble Hornets
Drawing fanart in my school notebook
The dynamic everyone kind of adopted that all the creepypastas live together in Slenderman's Mansion and ~wacky shenanigans~ ensue
The MLP stories that (no pun intended) gave me nightmares :(
That one YouTuber who cosplayed as the characters and went on Omegle
Using the characters as and self insert stories as a comfort and an escape mechanism :')
The few kids who truly, truly believed that the stories were all real
RPing the characters on forums
Trying to talk to Ben Drowned through Cleverbot

I wonder if there's a way to find out if trans/nb people sometimes having unconventional names* was something that existed before roughly 1985 or if it's a direct side effect of generations y & z being exposed to American 1980s action movies, Japanese animated media, and the encouragement of personal handles on the internet not being an actual name
*Names of objects, weather phenomena, animals, adjectives, etc.
(yes I know about Public Universal Friend but that's only one example and an accurate dataset one example does not make)

The “Gen Zs/Millennials are like this” posts are so funny to me because 99% of the time they lack the nuance of the fact that there’s a disconnect between older and younger people within every generation. Younger teens in Gen Z who only ever knew 2010s tech and TikTok aren’t gonna have the same technological experiences as early 20 somethings in Gen Z who had the chance to be children without TikTok and with 2000s/early 2010s tech.

just thought of the very likely possibility that not only have the actors in PJO grown up with the books, but the writers have as well and that would explain so much about the care and deep understanding of the characters they seem to have and the things they are choosing to focus on (compared to a bunch of clueless adults with no connection to the source material trying to write towards market trends or whatever tf happened before)
