Warnings: Fem!Reader. Black!Reader. Smut (18+). Unprotected Sex. Fingering. Dirty Talk. Fluff.
Summary: Soft morning sex with M’Baku to keep warm. That’s it. That’s the whole fic.
A/N: Nothing but respect for my king. Hope you all enjoy this smutty fantasy. It’s my first time writing for M’Baku, so I’m a little nervous. I also edited this in like 10 minutes, so all mistakes are my own.
Tumblr media
M’Baku is warm in the mornings. Especially compared to the cold air of the bedroom that surrounds you.
Being from the River Tribe yourself, you’re still getting used to the permafrost that covers every inch of the Jabari lands. Harsh and unforgiving, it sinks into your skin, and settles deep into your bones. The cold nights and even colder mornings are jarring. And though you probably won’t mention it out loud, though you’re sure your perceptive husband already knows, the endless peaks of snowy mountains sometimes make you miss the warm, flat soil of your old valley home.
Still, you wouldn’t trade your love for M’Baku for all the endless summers in the world. Even when your toes and fingers feel stiff and frozen, and you never think you’ll be warm again.
Pale sunlight filters through the skylight above your bed, splintering on the glass and refracting on the walls in little swatches of rainbow. Though it gently strokes your skin, it’s weak and hardly warms you. It does, however, illuminate the hulking form of your husband. Not that the king needs the feeble rays to announce his presence, his snoring does that for him.
You stretch, stirring your heavy limbs. A bad idea. Freezing air infiltrates the warm nest of furs piled on top of you. You shiver, and your body stiffens in protest. You curse under your breath, the chattering of teeth accompanying the colorful language.
Bast only knows how the Jabari first survived this all those years ago, with only their hard heads and proud hearts to keep them warm.
“You would keep the heat in if you stopped moving,” M’Baku mumbles sleepily. You can hear the amusement in his voice, warm and rich like chocolate. “Go back to sleep.”
You huff under your breath. “I can’t.” You flex your toes, feeling the twist of soft fur. “It’s too cold.”
M’Baku rolls onto his stomach and wordlessly lifts his arm. You slide into his embrace thankfully. He settles above you, a furnace in his own right. With his weight on top of you and his dewy breath in your ear, you almost allow yourself to sink deep into the syrupy waves of unconsciousness. That is, until your husband decides to open his mouth.
“How is that?” He asks, body rumbling with the deep vibration of his voice.
“Better,” you mumble, sleeping tugging heavy on your eyelids.
“You know, this would be much easier if you were naked,” M’Baku whispers in your ear, voice raspy from the last fading traces of sleep.
You can’t help the shudder that goes down your spine. “I doubt that.” You try to keep your tone even, but you suspect your husband heard the slight hitch in your voice from the grin pressed against your cheek.
“No, no. Skin to skin is very effective,” he insists, one large hand sliding under the bottom of your nightgown.
The corners of your lips tug upwards. “And how would you know that, Lord M’Baku? Who have you kept warm with this, hm, skin to skin method?”
M’Baku clears his throat. “I’ve heard about it. The, uh soldiers…they talk.” He kisses the skin behind your ear. “Shall we give it a try? Hm, ikumkani wam?” He slips one of the straps from your shoulder and presses a kiss there as well. The scrape of his beard against your skin has your mind slipping to other things, though you’re sure M’Baku’s mind has wandered there as well.
“And if I’m still cold afterwards?” You ask, the words saccharine and coy, dripping off of your tongue like honey.
He lifts his head so you can see the glimmer in the depths of his dark eyes. “Then I suppose we would have to try a different tactic.”
You sit up to let him pull the nightgown over your head and fall back against the soft bed. M’Baku’s eyes roam over the soft curves of your body, lit by the gentle sunlight. Your skin looks like honeyed whiskey. Like onyx glinting at noon. Polished mahogany and clay. He drinks you in, and you do the same.
Your gaze sliding over the rounded peaks of his shoulders. Down the expanse of his chest to his belly, and then dipping further still. To the hard flesh of his cock, stiff against your inner thigh.
M’Baku likes to sleep naked. The way Hanuman intended, he says, and you’re not complaining. It gives you easy access. Easy access for your eyes to gawk at him. To appreciate the way his shoulders roll when he stretches. Easy access for your fingers to skim over his soft skin. To feel the heat of his body pressed tightly against yours.
Easy access to do other things, like slide your hand down his stomach and wrap around his cock.
“What are you doing, my love?” He murmurs, eyelids sliding shut.
“Keeping you warm.”
“Mm, I thought that was supposed to be my job.”
You look up at him, a smile growing on your face. “Then come keep me warm, my king.”
M’Baku lowers himself over you with a short snort of laughter. “Yes, ikumkani wam.”
His lips meet yours, slow and sweet at first. Bringing a warmth that unfurls in your belly like the comfort of the first sip of tea. The rich, sharp taste of wine after a long day. His warrior’s hands are gentle on your body, calloused fingertips skimming over your jaw. Tilting your head to the side so he can kiss you deeper, press his tongue into the seam of your mouth.
And then the kiss grows faster, heated. The press of his lips more insistent. The warmth of his tongue fills you, eagerly tasting each and every moan that bubbles up from your throat. The press of his fingers hard against your skin. Stripping you down, squeezing and pulling you closer. A hand over your breast, palm scraping your nipple. The other gripping your thigh, using it for leverage to rut against your stomach.
You wrap your arms around his broad shoulders, and let M’Baku press you deeper into the bed.
His lips leave yours and carve a path over your body. Down your throat. Across your shoulder. Over the peaks of your breasts, with a detour to suck on your puckered nipples. His tongue laves over your skin, leaving goosebumps in its wake, and wetness pooling between your thighs.
M’Baku fits his hand between your legs, and plays with your folds. “Glory to Hanuman,” he breathes against your chest. “An offering all for me?” His fingers swirl around your clit, then dip to press against your entrance.
You arch your back, legs spreading of their own accord. An invitation. One he accepts willingly.
He slides a finger into your cunt, breaking you open for him. You mewl, a heady warmth sliding through you at the slow press of his fingers. His name falls off of your lips. A quiet puff of air in the vast expanse of the room.
M’Baku curls his finger, fucking you open in broad strokes. His thumb circles your clit at a leisurely pace. He’s in no hurry. Content to watch you twitch and shudder under his touch. To behold the display of hedonism splayed out across furs and cotton. He would much rather pass the day with you, tangled in the sheets. Taking his time to unravel you bit by bit, over and over again.
Let the council wait. They couldn’t do anything without him.
He is king, after all. And as king, his job was to take care of his queen.
“Are you feeling warm yet, my love?” Your husband asks, sliding a second finger inside of you.
The burn of the stretch is intoxicating. In no time, you feel as though you are floating on clouds. Ascending to the heavens.
You want more. You need more. You need him. His weight on top of you. His cock inside of you. Pushing and pushing, taking and taking. Giving until you’re spent.
“I’m still a little cold,” you say, and though you try to play it coy, the desire is embarrassingly clear in your voice.
M’Baku chuckles. “Well, we cannot have that, can we?” He asks. “How should I warm you?”
“Make love to me, M’Baku” you whisper, wrapping your hand around his cock again. You guide him towards the wanting warmth of your cunt.
“Mm. Yes, my queen.” M’Baku spreads your legs wider and situates himself between your thighs.
His lips brush over yours as he thrusts forward, letting the head of his cock slide against your clit. He groans at the warmth of you coating his aching cock; the soft skin of your thighs caging him in, urging him closer. His hips roll forward again, and again, and again, until he’s completely covered in you.
You sigh against his parted mouth, lifting your hips up to meet his next thrust. “Please,” you beg. You long to feel him move inside you. To be joined, one body, one soul.
M’Baku shushes you, his hand sliding down  your stomach. He holds you in place as he fills you with one slow stroke.
Your jaw drops, and you choke at the sensation. So full. Of love. Of him. The air in your lungs exits in a pitiful whine as M’Baku pushes into you completely. You scratch at his shoulders, scrabbling to pull him closer.
M’Baku moans, low and gravelly, as the warmth of your cunt envelopes him. The hand not holding you still fists into the pillow beside your head. An anchor keeping him present. Keeping him contained. He curses quietly, eyes screwing shut.
“Bast,” you pant. “You feel so good inside me, kumkani wam.”
M’Baku’s hips snap forward at the sound of his official title falling from your lips. “Be careful, my love, or this will be over much sooner than we’d want.”
“I don’t care.” You grab his hip, trying to urge him forward. “I want you. All of you.”
He kisses your chin, but doesn’t budge. “And I want you.”
“Then take me.” You grind your own hips upwards, desperate for some kind of friction. “I’m yours.”
“Relax, my love.” M’Baku draws his hips backwards. “I will take care of you.”
And take care of you he does. His thrusts, though languid at first, are hard and deep. They would have pushed you up the bed if your lover hadn’t been holding you in place. M’Baku curls his body over you, pinning you down so that all you can do is take all that he gives. And he gives so much.
He is all around you. Warm like the summer rains of your homeland. His lips caressing your skin. Sweeping down your neck and across your shoulders. His skin pressed against yours. Heat burrowing its way into your skin. Magma settling low in your stomach, spreading into your veins, bursting on the tip of your tongue. His body rolls against yours like ocean waves. Threatening to capsize you. To drown you.
M’Baku is grinding now, just the way you like it. He hooks his arm under your leg. Spreading you apart so his hips can brush your clit with every thrust. Now the fire burns over your skin. Leaving uncontrollable decimation in its wake.
You cry out, nails scratching against his arms, and M’Baku smiles.
“There you are.” He kisses you messily. “Is this what you wanted, my queen?”
You nod. “Don’t stop.”
“Oh, I won’t stop, my love.” His hips speed up a little. “Not when you’re so close. I want to watch you fall apart on my cock. I want all of Jabari Land, all of Wakanda, to know how their king pleasures his queen. Will you tell them, my love? Hm? Will you shout my name for all to hear?”
“Yes. Oh yes. Just–ah– just don’t stop. I’m going to come.” You arch into his touch, your orgasm so maddeningly close.
“Show me,” he murmurs, lifting your leg higher to change the angle, and it’s all over.
Light bursts behind your eyelids. Static fills your senses. You come with a broken wail, sharp cries of fuckfuckfuck and M’Baku and kumkani wam filling the air. M’Baku fucks you through your orgasm steadily, not stopping, even when the peak of your first crests into a smaller, but still earth-shattering, second.
His voice fills your ear. Gentle praises of how beautiful you are when you come, of how good your cunt feels squeezing around him. Filthy promises of his own impending orgasm– to fill you up until you were dripping, to keep it there inside of you, to watch it slide onto the sheets, and to fuck it back inside of you.
“I want it,” you say desperately. “I want all of it. Please, M’Baku. I want to feel you inside of me.”
M’Baku groans, fingers digging into your thigh. He kisses you deeply, burying his own strangled cry in your mouth. His hips stutter, hard thrusts growing sloppy. He can only grunt out a warning before he’s spilling his warmth inside of you.
It feels never ending. Your body seizes, legs wrapping around his waist to hold him there. M’Baku rocks against you, riding out the wave of his orgasm. His lips brush your cheek, muttering nonsensical phrases against your skin. He sags on top of you, holding you close as your heartbeats return to normal.
“Do you think they heard us?” M’Baku grins sheepishly.
“Isn’t that what you wanted?” You tease, limbs relaxing as the world begins to fade around you.
“Mmm,” he answers. “How are you, my love? Do you think you could sleep now?”
You nod weakly. Exhaustion already tugs heavily at your eyelids. Between the sex and the comforting weight of his body, you could be out in mere seconds.
“Good,” he whispers. “Sleep. And when you wake I promise I will be ready to make love to you again.”
“What about your council meeting?” You ask. “Your duties as king?”
“My duty as king is to keep you happy and warm.” He yawns, and rests his chin against the top of your head. “The council will just have to wait until we are done.” He says, sleep already lacing into the edges of his voice.
M’Baku makes good on his word when you awake some few hours later. Several times, in fact.
He is king after all. And a good king always keeps his promises.

Chapter 3 to the M'baku/Reader/Namor love triangle aka Friends to Enemies to Lovers.
Part One Part Two
Summary: Wedded life is treating you well. Wakanda is in turmoil. And you're given an ultimatum
Smut, angst, violence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Rest, in reina, it has been an eventful day," Namor said to you once you entered your room in the caverns of Talokan. You were confused that he had not brought you to the shared room that he had made up for after the wedding. The one he had so excitedly told you that he was looking forward to sharing with you.
"In ajawo, where are you going?" You asked as Namor turned his back on you. He hesitated then addressed you.
"What happened at the wedding was a show of my devotion to you and this union, but it was also violent and cruel. You were not here during the battle between out countries and this is the first time you have witnessed the worst of me. I do not regret the decision but I know that you need time to process," Namor stayed near the door as he spoke. You stepped closer to him, listening to what he said. "I only wanted today to be full of happiness. I am sorry that I wasn't aware of the treason that was rippling through my people."
He looked guilty and it broke your heart. You reached for him, pulling him into your arms, "In ajawo, I understand what you did. They tried to kill me. To be honest, I was waiting for the day I would finally witness the Namor that attacked Wakanda. I couldn't imagine the Namor I know doing that. But I have seen it now and it is not anything I didn't expect. If anything, I was more surprised that Baku agreed with you. I won't say anything about the sacrifice. It is a lesser used aspect of your culture?"
Namor nodded, pulling away slightly to meet your gaze, "There were stories passed down through the shamans but, until today, we had never considered using it. But in my rage, my fear for you, I turned to the old ways."
"You did it for me, for us. I cannot and will not hold that against you. The gentle Namor who took me in and the ruthless one who killed to protect me are both parts of you. I want all of you, Namor," You kissed the corned of his lips.
"I was worried that you would fear me. Or hate me," His eyes shut in relief.
"You would never direct your ruthlessness at me, my king, and that is all I need to know. I told you I trust you. That hasn't changed," You reassured him, then took his hand. "Will you take me to our shared room now? I don't want to end this day without you next to me."
The soft smile that graced his face brought forth another wave of affection. This wasn't love yet, but it was close and that was all you needed to follow him where ever he led you. It occurred to you then, that if the wedding had been with Baku you would have hidden yourself, avoiding the wedding night like it was a plague. But with Namor you wanted to share that night with him. You weren't sure whether it was your growing affection or that you wanted to wash away his insecurities. Yes, the king had insecurities, you saw them in the way he pulled away from you after the ceremony and you were determined to show him they were unfounded. To truly become bound to him tonight, remind him you chose him, and that you both were determined to make the best of this unplanned union.
The room he brought you to was deeper in the caves, larger, and decorated with more warmth than the rest of the Talokanil caverns. The bed was like a large nest of blankets and pillows. The room was lit, like the rest of the caves, with numerous glow worms that hung from the ceiling. Namor went around lighting candles to warm up the space.
"You should clean up and rest, in reina," Namor said as he approached a large polished slab of obsidian that leant against the wall, serving as a mirror. You approached him slowly as he began unclasping his shin guards and arm guards. You met his gaze as you helped him remove his pauldrons and necklaces. When he was left in just his cloth cape, his jewelry and adornments sitting on a counter, you took his hands and guided them to help you remove your own.
His eyes did not meet yours a he removed hair pins and braids, necklaces and rings, except your newly placed wedding ring. Namor knelt before you and took your foot, methodically untying and slipping off your sandals. When he stood before you you cupped his cheek, relishing in how he leant into your touch. Now that you had both shed the jewelry and markers of your status, you were just a man and woman, wife and husband, on your wedding night.
"Show me how much you'll love me K'uk'ulkan and I will show you the same," You whispered as you pressed up close to him. His eyes grew darker with the realization of what you were asking him. He held your gaze, asking for your permission. When you nodded Namor leant forward and captured your lips in a passionate kiss.
It was all consuming and held none of the tentative nature of the past week. He pulled you firmly against him, his tongue meeting your own, pulling moans from you in a way that you had never experienced before. When you finally had to come up for air he tilted his forehead against your own. Both of you were panting from the passion of it. You had worried for a moment that any intimacy with the king would trigger you, but now a giddy smile spread across your face.
"If you had kissed me like that before I might have married you the day we went to the council," You teased, pulling back to gaze at Namor, arms slipping down his chest. With a smooth movement you unclasped his cape and pushed it off his shoulders. He stood before you now, golden and naked except for the shorts that didn't hide anything now that he had truly had a taste of you.
Namor let out a full laugh at your teasing and as usual was not at all concerned with his physical nakedness. He grabbed at your skirt in an attempt to help you out of it but you skipped away from his grasp and dove into the nest of bedclothes and pillows. You couldn't help but laugh out loud as Namor followed you into the bed and tickled your sides. You both laughed and wrestled until you were out of breath laying next to each other, staring fondly into each others eyes.
"You are beautiful, in reina," Namor whispered as he turned onto his side and leant his head on his hand. His other hand reached over to your shoulder closest to him. Gently, he pulled your short dress sleeve off your shoulder and began kissing your skin slowly and sensually. You allowed yourself to sink into the soft feeling of his lips on your skin. It wasn't until Namor moved so that he was nearly on top of you, kissing your neck that you began having flash backs.
You knew this wasn't the same, you knew that this was Namor, your husband and not M'baku. But your breathing came faster, and you couldn't stop yourself from shoving Namor off you. He did not protest but instead sat up and away, his hands up in an appeasing stance, "In yakunaj, I'm sorry, I was moving too fast."
You fought back the sob that was tearing its way up your throat. Namor didn't deserve this, "Don't be sorry. It's not your fault. I know it's not the same but I just got lost. I'm sorry, Namor."
You buried your head in your hands, shoulders weighed down in defeat. But the hesitant touch of his hand on your shoulder made you look up. He wasn't angry or even annoyed. His gaze was soft as he gestured for you to come into his arms. The King pulled you practically on top of him in a warm embrace. You clung to him, listening to his heart beat while your own finally slowed down.
"Do not be sorry, in yakunaj, it has not been long since it happened," Namor kissed your temple, "Let us sleep for now."
You nodded against his chest and inhaled deeply. His scent surrounded you, masculine and clean and fresh. The feel of his strong muscles gently holding you to him did not scare you but instead made you feel secure. In your mind you shook off the memories of that fateful night.
...
You don't know what woke you but you found yourself laying next to Namor, staring up at the ceiling and constellations of glow worms. He was tucked into your side with a leg slung over your own. HIs body radiated heat that among the bedding and pillows was making you uncomfortably warm. Without waking him, you managed to shimmy out of your loose dress leaving you in your underwear and a thin tank top.
You sat and looked down at the King, relaxed, sprawled out and sleeping peacefully. It was strange to be here next to him already feeling your affection growing rapidly while also remembering how easily he had taken a life. But a part of you was also angry at the woman for ruining your day. You had been happy, you had fully accepted what was happening and seeing the good in it and her vitriol had marred the celebration. A part of you heard her words, her apprehensions and knew that there was some truth there. It did not escape you that becoming queen to a country you could not even spend more than hour in without a special suit was preposterous. And years of Namor and his people hating the surface world and those who dwelled there made the coupling almost hypocritical. But she was gone, and hopefully with her the rest of the naysayers. She had succeeded however in implanting the feeling of foreboding in the people of both countries.
Everyone had been a bit apprehensive, less exuberant, even as the reception and party continued. How could you blame them when someone had been essentially put to death for treason. M'baku had been sure to defend the act a second time and call for celebrations. But you knew that it would not only be Talokanil that whispered of how ill paired you were with the King. Now that he had shown his cruelty once more you did not doubt that the people of Wakanda would be worried about the alliance.
Your eyes focused on the King who mumbled your name in his sleep and unconsciously grasped at the bedclothes for you. Your heart clenched at how much he had already engrained you into his life that he could tell you weren't next to him. You moved slowly to not disturb him and lay by his side, arm slung across his waist, your leg over his, and your lips to his neck.
When you inhaled the scent of him and felt your skin on his, you knew that you wanted him. His arm pulled you closer and he mumbled again, turning away from you. The supple skin of the King's neck was open to you. You scooted up a little so that you could trace your finger along the edge of his pointed ears and down his neck. Namor shifted slightly but did not wake. You did it again and he hummed to himself. Once more and he pulled you closer with a soft moan.
The desire to tease him took over. You braced your hand on his chest and leaned up. You ran the tip of your tongue along the edge of his pointed ear, then trailed it down, laving at the skin right below his lobe. He moaned in his sleep as you began to nip and suck on his neck. You suckled firmly on his pulse point, wanting to mark him.
You caressed his bare chest, experimentally circling his flat nipples with the tips of your fingers. You peppered kisses from his neck down to his chest then back up to his jaw. You giggled to yourself at the contented sighs that emitted from the still slumbering king. You wondered if he was dreaming. You continued to taste his skin when you noticed that his shorts were tented. The heat pooled between your legs at the sight of it.
You leaned back up towards the King's face and held his chin as you kissed his lips softly. Then again and again until Namor finally reciprocated and deepened the kiss, now awake. As you kissed slowly and built up the passion, you moved your body on top of him, your arms holding you up on either side of his head. His hands were at your waist and you could feel his hard on against your stomach.
Namor pulled away and looked up at you, "In reina, while I do enjoy being woken up like this I worry that you haven't been sleeping."
"I slept, in ajawo, and I woke up to find myself in bed with a very handsome king that I wanted to have my way with," You replied between kisses to every part of his face you could reach. He chuckled at your teasing.
Namor allowed for one more deep kiss before he palmed your cheek and asked for you to wait. "We don't have to do this if you aren't ready. I am in no rush if you are uncomfortable."
"I think I'll be fine as long as you stay down there and I stay up here," You smirked at him as you sat up and straddled his waist. He let out a gasp as you rolled your hips against his, brushing your clothed center along the length of his bulge.
You continued to rock your hips you guided Namor's hands beneath your top to cup your breasts. When he rolled your pebbled nipples between his fingers you grinded more firmly. You both moaned breathily as he helped you out of your shirt. Namor sat up and pulled your chest flush to his as he captured your lips.
His hunger was apparent now. The way he nipped at your lips and thrust his tongue into your mouth was making wetness flood between your legs. When he took one of your nipples into his mouth you threw your head back in ecstasy.
"You sound so beautiful, in reina. Hearing you let go while I bring you pleasure. This is how I will love you. This is how I will show you for as long as you let me," Namor whispered his devotions between kisses to your breasts, collar and neck. You cradled his head to your chest, nails trailing through his hair as you rocked against his lap.
"Let me touch you where you need it most, in yakunaj," Namor pleaded for permission and you replied with a strangled affirmation. When his hand slipped between your legs, shoved your underwear aside, and started teasing your clit you moaned his name. You could hear how wet you were from the sound of his fingers teasing your folds and then dipping into your pussy. "Will you love me like this too, my queen? Will you always be this wet for me?"
You mewled as he thrust his fingers into you. You had never felt this way with anyone. As if all your nerve endings were keyed in to every move he made. You were overwhelmed with him. You captured his lips in answer, thrusting your hips against his hand.
"You have all of me, Namor, K'uk'ulkan, in ajawo, in yakunaj," At the use of the epithet you had never said back to him, Namor met your gaze. The softness and affection and desire in his eyes took your breath away. You kissed him, pouring all your trust and care and love into the meeting of lips and tongue. You whispered, "Take me, my love."
Your hands squeezed between the two of you. You found his cock straining against his shorts which were damp from your grinding. You moved his hands and he helped you push his shorts down to release his throbbing cock. Namor laid down at the command of your hand on his chest. His hands found your hips and his eyes did not leave your own as you guided him to your arousal coated center.
You braced yourself with one hand on his chest as you slowly took him inside of you. The both of you gasped and groaned as you fully seated yourself on his hips. He pulled you down to kiss him as you tentatively started to move your hips. Kisses were interrupted by moans as he guided you and built a steady pace. You grappled at his shoulders as he thrust upward impossibly deeper.
You were cheek to cheek as you moved your hips to the rhythm he set, stealing kisses between gasps of pleasure. Nothing mattered now. You were in bed with your husband, taking pleasure and giving it. You admitted to the feelings of love that were bubbling up inside of you so quickly and unexpectedly. Namor, this mighty and cruel king, with eyes soft and touches adoring was yours and you were his.
"In ajawo, I'm close, please," You were nearly sobbing from the pleasure. Overwhelmed by the adoration and the look in his eyes when he pushed you to sit up.
"In reina, show me how you cum," His voice was rough with desire as he thrust into you, the angle making your clit rock against him. You gripped the hands on your hips and squeezed them as your orgasm crested. Namor did not stop his thrusting as you moaned and screamed with the intensity of your pleasure. The wetness between you slickened further as you leant back down to his chest.
Namor held you close as he continued thrusting. The stuttering of his hips was all you needed to know that he was soon going to fill you. You grabbed his face and said against his lips, "Make me yours, K'uk'ulkan. Give me your heir, my love."
Namor practically roared as he came. The heat of his seed inside of you and dripping out from where you were joined was oddly comforting as you both lay limp and satiated. You were both delirious, panting, and unwilling to move. Namor made to move you but you held fast.
He chuckled; deeply, tiredly, but happily. "My love, we should clean up and rest."
You looked up at him with your chin on his chest, "Do we have any plans for tomorrow?"
Namor was amused. He tilted his head in thought then replied, "Nothing urgent. Why?"
"Then we can stay this way and clean up in the morning. I would like to have a bath with my husband, but I would also like to lay here and languish in the evidence of our successful first night as husband and wife," You eyed him suggestively.
"So you have no plan of removing yourself from my cock?" Namor asked, grinding up gently, pulling a soft moan from your lips.
"Not yet. Who knows? Maybe we won't have to worry about an heir if one is sired tonight," You teased him.
"Do you really wish to carry a child?" Namor asked, running his hand up and down your arm in an absentminded caress.
"Isn't that what queens do?" You quipped, nuzzling into him.
"A queen is more than an incubator," Namor insisted.
"But it's expected," You replied, eyes growing heavy as a yawn escaped your mouth.
"I will have you again in the morning, even if you have already fallen with child," Namor said before he too yawned.
"I expect you to," You replied, drifting off to sleep. Namor had no other response as he also fell asleep, clinging to you, married to you, already loving you.
...
In Wakanda, a day after the wedding, a council meeting was called. They were enraged at what M'baku had allowed at the wedding.
"Do you want the people of Talokan to think we support such violence when the Black Panther was gracious enough to spare their King when he too deserved death for his crimes?" One of the council members shot at M'baku forcefully.
Another council member joined, "Do you not think it is an omen to have such blood shed at a wedding? Do we even want this alliance at all?"
"Talokan is strong, we know that, and we cannot be so naive to think that the rest of the world will not eventually come for our vibranium," A female council member sagely added.
"But to encourage such violence? M'baku there should have been proper recourse, a trial, that was unnecessarily cruel," The oldest council member added with a tinge of sadness.
"Unnecessary?" M'baku scoffed, "You would have that filth live after they attempted to kill her in front of us? That was not only treason to Talokan but to Wakanda. They attempted to kill a child of Jabariland. If they had been Wakandan I would have killed them myself."
"Do you hear yourself?!" Shuri finally stood, stepping forward from her place to the side of the council. "You allowed a murder! Encouraged it!"
M'baku stood and faced her, "Do not act holier than thou Princess. You may not have had it in you to kill K'uk'ulkan when you should have. Don't be jealous that I didn't hesitate to protect my own, when you couldn't!"
"You are out of line and have been since you took the throne. Allowing you to rise to power was my mistake," Shuri said solemnly. She eyed the council and sized up M'baku. "I didn't want to do this. But I, the Black Panther, challenge you, M'baku, King of Wakanda for my rightful place as queen."
"Shuri, you cannot defeat me without the powers of the Black Panther," M'baku replied, eyeing the genius woman that he considered a sister.
"We will see. I will not stand by as you allow your emotions to cloud your judgement. Tomorrow I will take the throne back from you, by force," With those parting words Shuri left the council chamber. No one spoke. No one argued. M'baku looked around at the members.
"She has every right to challenge me for the title. It is in her blood, the blood of Bashenga. But one on one, with no powers, she stands no chance," M'baku voiced to the room.
"She is stronger than ever," Okoye spoke, surprising the council, "It is not my place, M'baku, but before this devolves consider that the throne, this palace, has been her home since birth. In her eyes, the legacy of her family sits on her shoulders."
"What are you saying, Okoye?" M'baku asked, ignoring the expectant looks from the council.
"Abdicate the throne. It is that or one of you will die tomorrow. She will go into that fight and show you that she too can show no mercy," Okoye explained.
"Then one of us will die," M'baku said bluntly then waved a dismissal to the council who were speechless.
...
You sat with Namor's head in your lap, hair still damp from the bath. You had spent the last day and night together in bed enjoying each other and not thinking about the outside world. You both only wore robes as there hadn't been much need for anything more unless a maid was dropping off food.
"In yakunaj, do you think I could become like your people?" You asked, tracing the bridge of his nose as he popped a grape into his mouth.
"Our people, in reina. What do you mean become like them?" Namor asked, sitting up feeling that this was an important conversation.
"The way that your mother and the other Talokanil took the potion to become what they are. Do you think I could do that?" You reasoned, "I don't know how it works but it should be the same right. We just have to mix the potion and I can become like them."
"There are a few problems with that. One, that recipe has been lost to time. Two, I do not want you to change. If this is because of the traitors I beg you to remove them from your mind," He grasped your hands tightly, "No one will hurt you, I promise."
"But they are right. How can I be Queen when I cannot even spend time there? Their misgivings are not unfounded, my love. They may have been extreme but I wouldn't be surprised if some of them didn't continue to resent me," You added thoughtfully.
Namor cupped your cheek, a fierceness in his eyes, "If they wish to share the same fate as that other traitor they will voice their opinions. But no one will harm you and you do not need to be among them if they wish to be so disrespectful."
The ferocity of his rage and protectiveness was unsurprising. You kissed his palm and you watched the stress melt away.
"You're getting bristly again, my love. I know this is a sore subject but we should consider a way for me to be part of the people the way a queen should. Maybe develop a better suit or see if Shuri can bio-engineer an herb," You rattled off.
"You would do that?" Namor asked, taking your hand. He was looking at you thoughtfully, as if he was surprised by the measures you were willing to take.
"This may not have been the original plan. But I'm not going to half ass being the queen of a powerful nation next to a god-like husband. I want the Talokanil to respect me and trust me. It will take time to earn it but I can do it," You finished confidently, munching on some fruit. There was an oddly bitter taste to the familiar berry but you paid it no mind. One of the maids had said they were a special harvest for fertility. Who were you to send back a gift just because it was an acquired taste.
"Sour?" Namor asked as he finally stood up and began dressing.
"Bitter," You replied following suit.
"Bare with it, in yakunaj, at least we can say that the maids and farmers are already favoring you. Even I am not allowed to try that fruit as it is reserved for the 'queen to ensure an heir'." Namor chuckled as he pulled some shorts and a longer tunic with open sides.
"That's why I'm eating it, in ajawo. Otherwise I would leave it on my plate the way I do with eggplants," You grimaced at the thought of the purple vegetable. You donned similar clothing to your husband. Shorts, a thick bandeau top, and a lighter cloak-like tunic that was open in the front.
As if you had been doing it all your lives, you helped the other with jewelry, arm and leg adornments, sandals, and for you, braids. Once dressed you stood in front of the obsidian mirror, Namor standing behind you with an arm wrapped around your shoulders, pulling you to him. Although your clothes were simple, the vibranium jewelry told of your status. You smiled at your reflections, wondering how you could be so content when your life was completely different than it had been almost two weeks ago.
There was a knock at the entrance way and Namor called out for them to enter. You were both surprised to see Attuma's hulking form rush in.
"What is it?" Namor asked, already feeling the tension.
"The Princess has challenges M'baku for the throne of Wakanda. They are nearly at Warrior Falls now to fight for the crown," Attuma hastily informed the royals.
"No," You breathed out, "We have to stop them."
"It is within her rights to fight for the throne that she allowed him to have," Namor tried to reason, not understanding the gravity of the situation.
"Namor, you don't get it. One of them will die! Shuri will not yield now, not after all she has been through. And Baku? Either he will defend his honor or he will let her kill him. After all that has happened these past couple weeks, those are the only outcomes. They must be stopped," You implored him.
...
M'baku dodged a swift thrust and twirl of Shuri's spear. She had already cut his leg and torn a gash into his back. Without her Black Panther powers he had thought she would be an easy foe, but he had underestimated her. Shuri was faster and more blood thirsty than he had ever seen her. There was rage in her eyes and pain that M'baku knew his own mirrored.
"You've become a decent warrior since your brother's passing, he would be proud," M'baku spoke. The brotherly tone he reserved for her was gone. He had told himself he would make her regret challenging him, but it finally occurred to him that he may lose the throne. The only thing he really had left to lose.
"You don't deserve to talk about my brother," Shuri shot back as she landed a hard punch into M'baku's side, making him stumble. "He would be ashamed that he trusted you if he saw what you've done."
"I did what was necessary!" M'baku roared as he tackled Shuri into the water.
"Was violating your dearest friend necessary?!" Shuri shot back, hitting an internal wound that made M'baku see red.
They tumbled and fought for dominance and when he had her pinned to the ground he met her eyes and saw a different set looking back at him. Suddenly, his mind flashed to darkness, being in bed, laying on top of someone and holding them down. His ears rang with cries and pleas for help.
Shuri took her moment and palmed a sharp rock and stabbed it into M'baku's shoulder as she leveraged him off of herself. He yelled as she twisted the rock and pushed him to the ground. M'baku was shaking the memories from his mind, anger and disgust bubbling up within himself. Shuri stood above him with a sword in her hand, swinging from over her head.
It was like time stood still as he watched her heavy blade swing through the air. Shuri, his adopted sister, angry tears leaking from her eyes as she lent the killing blow. Shuri who should have taken the throne to begin with. Shuri who was the Black Panther and the rightful ruler of Wakanda. Shuri who needed to release this rage before it consumed her.
M'baku closed his eyes.
"No Shuri!" Your familiar voice rang out as Namor dropped you from the air and you landed just in time to stop Shuri's blade with your own.
Shuri roared and broke the connection of your blades before lifting her own to point at you. Namor dropped down next to you but stood in a defensive position. "You shouldn't have come. This has nothing to do with you. These are Wakandan affairs!"
"These are family affairs, Shuri. Did you think that my marrying into Talokan would stop me from protecting my family?" You shot back. Your hands were shaking with emotion but you ignored it.
"You have interrupted a sacred ceremony. Or have you already forgotten our traditions in the face of new ones involving barbaric sacrifice?" Shuri raged.
"Like this is any better? Shuri, please, we can talk this out. There doesn't need to be any blood shed," You tried to appease her, lowering your weapon. Behind you Namor helped M'baku to his feet.
"According to the rules of ritual combat, outside intervention in favor of one candidate is cause for forfeit. M'baku son of the Jabari Tribe, you have forfeited your right to the throne. Shuri, daughter of T'chaka, the Black Panther, you are now queen of Wakanda," A council member's voice boomed across the cliffs.
"Wait! No that isn't fair," You pleaded. You turned to M'baku who shook his head.
"They are right. You saved me from certain death but I lose the crown. It is how it has always been," M'baku's voice was weary and blood dripped from his body and mixed with the water.
"Shuri," You turned to the new queen who was already gathering her weapons, "Were you really going to kill M'baku?"
When Namor had flown you towards the falls you had been surprised to see the rage and blood lust that your two friends displayed. It sent shivers down your spine and made you cling to your husband. The king had encouraged you to watch the fight unravel, explaining to you that the two needed to release their pent up pain and grief. But at the sight of Shuri about to kill M'baku, you had immediately went to his defense.
"You are welcome to come to the medi-bay in my lab to get cleaned up. M'baku will need some medical attention," Shuri avoided your question and led the way.
"Shuri, this isn't like you," You called out to her. You ignored the dizziness that was blurring your vision.
Shuri turned to look at you, scoffing at first but then looking concerned. You met her gaze just as you blacked out.
...
You woke in the medi-bay, groggy, with an IV and a monitor stuck to your chest. You ripped everything off, setting off a soft alarm as you sat up on the examination table. You had a headache and your mouth was dry but you felt decently rested and the bitter taste in your mouth that had lingered since breakfast was finally gone.
Namor ran into the room and took you into his arms. He peppered your face with kisses and checked you over, "In reina, you need to rest. Why did you take off the monitors?"
"Namor, what happened? Why am I here?" You asked as the King helped you back onto the table.
Shuri appeared, lab coat and casual clothes on, like she hadn't just won the crown, "The Talokanil are still after your life. Someone tried to poison you before you were even married a week."
"Wait, who would do that? The ones serving us, you trusted them," You turned to Namor who looked guilty and ashamed.
"I did and I shouldn't have. They have already been dealt with. Namora and Attuma sent word yesterday that the one's responsible were sentenced to death for treason. In yakunaj, I'm sorry I couldn't protect you. I should have been more careful," Namor held your hands in his and bent his head down in shame.
"Yesterday? How long have I been asleep?" You looked between Shuri and Namor.
"It's been four days since the ritual combat. M'baku is fine. He has taken a voluntary banishment to Jabariland for the foreseeable futue," Shuri replied, answering your unasked question.
"Four days? Banishment?" You mumbled to yourself.
"The poison was in the fruit that was brought to us that morning. The one I wasn't allowed to eat. I never thought they would go that far," Namor cupped your face and the slight watering of his eyes tore at your heart.
You pressed your forehead to his and gripped his hands, "I am alright, in ajawo. I feel fine, whatever they did didnt' work."
"It didn't work because you happened to be here in Wakanda and one of the Dora who's expertise is in poisons recognized your symptoms. If she hadn't been able to treat you as quickly as she had you would be dead," Shuri spoke bluntly as she looked down upon you. Her eyes roamed your joined hands and the obvious intimacy with the Talokan King.
"And we will forever be in your debt. I do not know what would have happened if we hadn't been here in Wakanda," Namor had stood and was bowing to the Princess who only made a fist at her side.
"Do you care about her Namor?" Shuri was blunt, her tone severe.
Namor was taken aback at the vitriol but replied honestly, "I love her."
"You would do anything for the people you love, right Namor?" Shuri asked, glancing at you as you sat up.
"I would. What do you really want to ask?" Namor felt his stomach sinking as he watched Shuri approach you. She examined you and you let her.
"She is healthy and safe now but you cannot guarantee to me that one of ours, that my friend will be safe in your care. That much has been made obvious. Truthfully, and you know this, I didn't want an alliance between Wakanda and Talokan. So I ask you, Namor, King of Talokan, for the safety of the one you love and her future, will you annul this marriage to maintain the alliance?" Shuri's question left you both speechless.
"Shuri, what are you talking about?" You asked, now scared of what the new Queen of Wakanda had in mind. "Our marriage was made to maintain the alliance."
"Under M'baku it was. But now the conditions have changed. To ensure your safety I will not let him take you. That was M'baku's last request of me before he took his banishment. He said to make sure you were safe and that you would not be harmed again," Shuri paced slowly, "That is why, Namor, to ensure that Wakanda and Talokan remain allies, we request the return of our own. This farce of a marriage will end and your people can go about their lives without worrying about the surface. Unless, of course, war comes for either of us and we will aid each other."
Namor was silent, his jaw clenched as he watched the Princess pace languidly. He turned to you with a stormy look on his face, that dissipated as he took in the sight of you, remembering why you were brought there. The King stepped closer and took your hands in his, "In reina, the princess, no, the Queen is right."
"In yakunaj, don't say that," You held his face in your hands and then turned to Shuri, "This isn't right."
"What isn't right is that your life has been in jeopardy twice since you married less than a week ago," Shuri snapped.
"That wasn't his fault!" You ground out in frustration, standing from the hard bed.
Shuri stepped forward, raising a hand to stop Namor who tried to speak, "The great K'uk'ulkan, the man who nearly wiped out Wakanda and killed my mother! His job was to protect you and he couldn't. This is your out. You never wanted to get married, I know you. You wanted to live freely and explore the outreaches and make your mark. Not languish away in the ocean in a country that hates you and a king you don't love!"
"But I do love him!" You yelled, tears fell quickly after. "I do love him, Shuri. It doesn't make sense but I do. I want to be his queen. I want to be his wife, even if I'm in danger."
Namor moved forward and embraced you, kissing your temple and whispering words of comfort and love. Shuri looked on, surprised at the tenderness and the resolution in your words. Her eyes hardened.
"Then I suggest you go and don't come back," Shuri backed away and turned towards the doors, "Namor can return for diplomatic meetings and planning, but you are banished from Wakanda. Stay in the ocean where you so wish to be. Leave my lab and go straight back to your new home. You are no longer a part of Wakanda."
"Shuri," You breathed out, shocked.
"Leave. When I can forgive you for abandoning your home I will send word. But do not expect it to be soon," Then she left through the doors.
"In reina," Namor whispered as your legs gave out and he caught you. Your sobs rang out through the medi-bay.

Adun
Adun in Yoruba language by definition means “Sweetness”
Plot: Y/n is angry With M’baku and all of Wakanda can feel her anger especially him.
Kinks:Breathplay/Fingering

Tumblr media
Y/n was sitting at the window, seething with anger, trying to control her temper by reading her book. In the castle library. She was trying to focus on her story, but she kept coming back to M’baku and Wakanda. M’baku is a very hard-headed and stubborn leader. He doesn’t listen when someone is advising him. To him, now being the new leader of Wakanda is throwing off his community because he’s not listening or making plans. He’s simply being foolish.“What is this commotion about!” said M’baku walking through the door with a glare. And a vigorous walk. “My Queen, just this morning, it was snowing. Now the rivers are unthawing, and the plants are withering.” If you have something to say, say it! Before we turn into a part of the ocean, eh”.You’re probably wondering what snow and rivers have to do with you. Well, they have a lot to do with you. See, y/n is an outsider to Wakanda. She fought alongside the Avengers.
Y/n meet M’baku when it will at the time to help fight Killimonger. Tachalla asked for your help, so you came to Wakanda to help fight the battle against the enemies, and while in Wakanda, you caught the eye of the “great gorilla.” Your power was Atomokineses. Y/n could control the weather. She could make the sun dry out the humans and plants, and she could make tides wash them away, but Y/n is very balanced. She prides herself on being grounded with herself and the earth. At least, she tries to be. She turns nature upside down when she fights herself and her inner thoughts. Most of the time, you wouldn't even know those powers belonged to her.“Maybe mother nature is making you count her blessings,” said y/n in a colder voice.
“Your voice sounds colder than Ice caps,” said M’baku as he strode over to y/n and bent down to be in her face. “My queen, tell me what seems to be the problem so I can fix it and my crops can thrive again, eh,” M’baku said this with a calm tone and a calm demeanor, which he always seems to have when talking to you. “My problem is that the Leader of Jabari and now the newfound Black Panther will not listen to his people who are telling them they don't want war! ”You yell, feeling anger remembering how you felt in that council room and looking at all the council speak their truth.
A flashing white light passed across the library window. It will not be surprising to you because you know that you are angry, and soon Jabari nation and Wakanda will feel the shift in the weather. They will feel the change in you.
Your outburst did not surprise M’baku. He's been told many moons that he has done something wrong, but M’baku also knows that nothing will get done if his people do not fight.
“I know what my nation needs. My nation is getting attacked daily by your people for something sacred that belongs to us! And we have to fight back! That is the only way!” M’baku now yelled, rising from being crouched over. His posture was rigid, and his tone was serious. His eyes were dark, and his Jaw tight. You could tell he was angry and conflicted just by the glare he held and how heavily he was breathing. “My People! Let's not forget you married an outsider, so you now have an affiliation with my people!” you yelled, now seeing red. All you felt was anger. “ Your people, the council, and The community have lost Their king, their queen, and the princess gave up their throne! Your community was overflowed with water and agony! But they haven't felt enough,” You yelled. You were angry but quiet and kept only saying what you heard from the council. You were in America when the war with the water people happened.
”This is where I have lived my entire life. I know what happened to my people. I saw it hit after hit,” said M’baku hitting his hands “you were brought into this land. You have met my people. You fought along with Tachalla and Shuri and bowed to the queen, but you will never get the pain we have felt, eh, so dont act like you do. I'm doing what is best for Wakanda” He said this, and his voice cracked. You knew M’baku was right. You knew you would never feel the pain the way he did. You knew he meant well. You just had to make him see another way to fight. “your community deserves to rest and peace, as an outsider I can say that they will never stop, but that means we need a plan that doesn't involve running into a war we need to come up with a treaty or agreement” You said now with a calm voice “hear the council listen to them talk to them, that's all I ask” you said voice soft and eager hoping he would hear you.
Between the heated words, you didn't even realize you heard Raindrops hitting the window. You felt your body become intense. You were now standing in front of M’baku. His posture was becoming less rigid, and his eyes returned to a softer state. He let out a breath and walked past me to the chair, and sat down.”My heart is heavy for my people, and I hear you; I will talk to my council,” He said, now looking at me, his demeanor calm. He held out his hand to me. “Come to me, adun.” You walk over to him slowly in your white nightgown. It sits loosely over your curves, and it hides enough so You can be modest for the server, and it makes M’baku imagine things even though he's seen your body thousands of times.
As you walk to him, you feel your body shift back to normal you feel lighter. You can also hear the rain slowing down. As you sat on his lap, you saw him smile, and you felt the warmth of his body on your side. “My queen, you are everything to me,” he said. Mbaku was very blunt regarding how he talked and handled situations, but with you, he was different Mbaku had a softness to him that you know he would never show anyone else. You felt his nose lightly touch your neck, his lips on your neck, and his hand wrapped around your waist while his hand moved your hair from one side. You felt your core tighten, your breath hitch as he bit on your neck. “My king don’t you think you should be attending to your kingdom or plans,” you said in a breathless voice. “My plans can wait. I need peace right now. You’re my peace,” M’baku said, his voice becoming huskier. M’baku grabbed your face and kissed you. His lips were soft against yours. You felt his hands hold the back of your head as he depends the kiss. M’baku is a man of many words, but he knows when he has said too much, so he always finds himself apologizing to you this way. You don’t know how but the strings on your gown were undone, and your dress was now pushed up to your hips.
You felt M’baku grab your breast while teasing your breast with one hand. You could feel him rubbing your inner thigh. As he held your nipple, ready it till it was provided, you thought your core had become wet. His lips are still kissing your neck and back. Your body was buzzing all over. You feel like running away from the sensation. You needed to feel more. You started to grind on him. His breath started to become rigid.”Open your legs for me, adun” So you did. All you felt was the stickiness between your thighs and the cool air on your inner things. His rough hands slid up your thighs. Your back was still facing him while your legs were spread across his thighs. His other hand left your breast and went to your neck. His hand rested on your neck while the other toyed with your core. Rubbing your clit up and down, his fingers felt rough, and that’s precisely what you needed. You let out a gasp as he entered you. You thought yourself tightening. “Breath,” M’baku said with a gentle voice, his finger rubbing the side of your neck.
Hearing those words made your body relax. You felt his finger go out of you, and in you, you felt the rhythm of his hands. You knew that you were dripping like honey from his fingers. You felt his fingers start slow and then start to speed up with each motion. You thought your body was beginning to tingle, and your body ached.
And he could tell, too, as he curled his finger to hit your spot. You felt your legs starting to shake and tight. All you did was let out a string of Moan's. Your body was tightening. You were so close, and as your body was arriving, you felt his hand around your neck tighten. “Give it to me. My queen,” M’baku said, kissing your shoulder. As those words were spoken, a release washed over your body, mixed between you holding your orgasm and he holding your body and neck. It felt like your body could finally breathe once again. When you looked outside, the rain had stopped, and the sun had risen over the nation of Wakanda.

Water. There was water everywhere.
Flooding the streets, tidal waves taking people out left and right.
It barreled down each and every pathway, racing toward you as you desperately tried to run towards safety, the splashing sounds taunting you from behind.
The water bit at your heels before crashing over you-
You woke with a gasp, body covered in sweat, crawling along your skin.
Even though you knew you had just woken up from a nightmare, you couldn’t manage to even out your breathing.
Because it wasn’t totally a nightmare.
It was a memory. From just a few days ago when Wakanda was attacked.
You looked around at all of the sleeping bodies around you, their mats covering nearly every inch of the floor. There was no empty space. Nowhere to breathe.
The walls of the small refuge created in the caves of the Jabari Tribe headquarters began to close in on you, and the space suddenly became too crowded.
And then you were drowning all over again, chest constricting, air refusing to reach your lungs.
Without thinking, you jumped out of your mat, maneuvering around all of the sleeping Wakandan refugees, black spots forming in your vision as the panic continued to rise in you.
Why did it feel like the path out of this room went on for miles and miles? Why was there no end in sight?
Finally, you made it through the sea of people and toward the dim hallway.
Before you could let out a sigh of relief, you heard it.
The splashing. The devastating waves.
They had found you once again.
You turned to look over your shoulder as you picked up your pace, sprinting down the hall to run away from the phantom tidal wave that chased you in your mind-
Until you crashed into something.
Something large, sturdy.
Someone, you gathered - as massive hands wrapped around your arms to keep you from stumbling to the ground.
You looked up, eyes fighting the black spots to focus on the concerned brown eyes staring down at you.
A small voice in the back of your brain screamed to you that this man was important, a person of great respect, someone who deserved a bow or some sort of recognition.
Lord M’Baku, leader of the Jabari Tribe, the Great Gorilla. One of the fiercest warriors in all of Wakanda.
But the larger part of your mind was still breaking down, so for right now, he was someone you could cling to for support.
“Outside,” you gasped, your head growing dizzy. You needed to be out in the open fast or else you were going to pass out. “I need to get outside.”
He didn’t say anything, just nodded. His hands held onto you a little tighter as your legs grew wobbly beneath you.
“Can you walk?” he asked, low voice echoing through the hallway and deep inside your chest.
You nodded, unable to speak, and it was all he needed. He shifted his hold to grab the small of your back and led you down the hall, holding you closely to his side to make sure you didn’t fall over.
“This way,” he murmured, veering off the main path and down a smaller corridor, and you almost protested being in the more confining space, but something told you to trust the man fighting to keep you upright.
A few seconds later, he was opening a large stone door built into the wall of the mountain. As you felt the cool night air hit your face, your body sagged further into him in relief before running out of his hold and toward the balcony ahead.
It took a handful of heaving gulps before you managed to put enough air in your lungs to get rid of the black spots. You looked up from the stone below your hands and toward the view in front of you and let out a small gasp.
You must have been close to the peak of the mountain for a view like this, to see the entirety of Jabari, the neighboring mountains glittering with snow, the full moon illuminating every surface with a mesmerizing glow, millions of stars twinkling above.
The sounds of water were gone from your mind, and you were met with the peaceful silence of night.
Even though you had just gotten air back into your lungs, the scene before you momentarily took your breath away again once more, but in a much less terrifying way.
“Here,” M’Baku’s low voice came from behind. You turned around to see a glass of water held out in front of you. Looking up to meet those comforting brown eyes, you nodded a quick thanks and took the glass, knocking half of it back in one go.
When you looked back, you saw two large, empty hands fiddling together in front of the giant warrior, as if anxious.
“What else can I do?” he asked, desperate to help in any way.
Something in the protective tone in his voice put knots in your stomach and you shook your head. “I-I’m f-f-f-fine,” you replied, the shivers escaping from you exposing the fact that your sweat-covered body was now open to the freezing cold air and you were not, in fact, fine.
The lord of the mountain shook his head, a light huff escaping his chest as he took the fur off his back.
“No, n-no, you don’t have to-” you tried to protest, but before you could say another word the wrap was over your shoulders, and the sudden warmth radiating through your body was so  intoxicating that it brought a small smile to your face.
 M’Baku let out a grizzly laugh that brought even more warmth to your insides. “There it is,” he said.
Your brows furrowed. “There what is?”
“I was not going to find an ounce of rest this night if I did not get you to smile,” he replied.
You let out a small laugh, taking more of him in now that your nerves had settled.
Though he now stood a couple of feet away from you, you still needed to crane your neck back in order to look at his face. The man completely towered over you, his presence commanding the entire space.
And yet, you didn’t feel any fear around him, or like you were being looked down on by someone of high status in these lands.
You felt comforted, protected, safe, which had not been the case in the days since Namor attacked the Golden City. Since then, all you had known was fear.
His dark skin glowed under the moonlight, making his features even more breathtaking. Without the cover of his fur, you could see the bulging muscles from his bare shoulders all the way down his arms.
There had been many times during your time in Wakanda that you heard whispers of the lord of the mountains, and how M’Baku’s strength could only be met with that of the Black Panther themself.
You imagined him lifting your body into the air with complete ease, a thought you never inherently had with any other man you had encountered.
“How are you not cold right now, Your Lordship?” you asked, shivering at the thought of him being so exposed in such cold weather.
He tsk’ed, taking a step forward and extending his arm out. “I am the heart of these mountains, my lady. There is a fire in my veins that no cold can put out.”
You rested a hand on his large bicep, the warmth radiating from it sending a shiver down your spine. Had you been able to focus on anything other than the feeling of his smooth, muscled skin, you would have heard the small hitch in his breath from your touch.
“M’Baku,” he said softly, and you looked back up at him. “Call me M’Baku.”
How could you say no to such a request, with the way his eyes bore into yours?
You gave him your name, and he mouthed it to himself, feeling the string of letters along his lips.
“You are not from Wakanda,” he said after a beat. A statement rather than a question.
“I am not,” you still responded.
“You chose a terrible time to visit.” The joking tone in his voice made you laugh.
“I suppose not,” you said, finally noticing that your hand was still on his arm. You forced yourself to remove it. “I’ve been here for a few years, actually. Used to work for Shield as a scientist, and was assigned here by Steve Rogers for a few months to work with the Wakandan scientists and Bucky Barnes. After everything with…Thanos, I was officially out of a job. Bruce Banner pulled a few strings with Shuri and allowed me to continue working here.”
“I wish our paths had crossed sooner.”
Your throat constricted, tears welling in your eyes and you nodded. “Me, too.”
Concern returned to his expression and he rested a hand on your cheek. “What is wrong?”
A scoff escaped from your lips before you could remind yourself that you were speaking with practically royalty.
“I’m sorry.” Your bottom lip began quivering. “I mean, what isn’t wrong right now? Wakanda is under attack, and I lost friends who have been my family these last few years. I also don’t know if I’ll ever be able to sleep without having nightmares of almost drowning ever again-”
Strong arms wrapped around you, cutting off your rambling as they completely consumed you in warmth and security as you cried into the chest of the great leader.
Some unknown number of minutes passed before he pulled away, your composure returning. His hand went back to your cheek, thumb wiping away a tear.
“I know things appear grim right now, but I swear on Hanuman himself that I will do everything in my power to protect Wakanda and its people…” his serious expression turned sly and he winked, “especially its visitors with the most radiant of smiles.”
Your smile returned, and so did your laugh.
“Thank you, M’Baku.”
With a nod, he lowered his hand to grab yours. “Come. Let’s get you to bed.”
Panic arose in you once more at the thought of being in the small room with so many other people. “I think I’d rather stay out here-”
“Nonsense. I have a private room in my chambers where you can rest.” He waved his free hand behind him to show off the giant glass window, behind it a cozy bedroom.
“Oh no, I don’t want to intrude.”
He rolled his eyes. “Y/n, the whole of Wakanda is intruding on my lands this evening. Now, please stop trying to argue with the Great Gorilla before I show you how I got that name.”
Your feet slowed, stomach dropping at the threat. But when he turned around, there was a mischievous look on his face, and a grin from ear to ear. He winked at you again and you found yourself laughing at the powerful warrior before you.
“My apologies, Mr. Great Gorilla,” you retorted, pulling a low, rumbly laugh from him.
He escorted you into the room, remaining at the doorway, his back turned away from you as you sat on the bed.
“I will leave you to rest,” he said, hand going to the door.
“Wait-” you called, unable to stop yourself. His hand paused. “This is definitely too much to ask, and I’m sure you have a million other things to take care of…but is there any chance you could stay?”
M’Baku turned back to you, and you immediately opened your mouth to try and take back your request.
But the look in those kind eyes halted your words, and without hesitation he nodded.
“Anything you need.”
All I need is you, you thought.
You swallowed. “Thank you.”
He walked over, sitting on the bed next to you, your backs pressed against the headboard, gazes toward the wall in front of you.
The two of you sat there in silence for a few moments, your thumbs twiddling on your lap as a newfound awkwardness slowly ate at you.
M’Baku cleared his throat, clearly in the same state of discomfort as you were.
“So,” you finally said, “how did you earn the title of Great Gorilla?”
His lips curved upward as he looked over at you. “I am so glad you asked. It all started when…”
The two of you stayed awake for hours, sharing stories and asking each other questions.
Finally, as your lids grew heavier and heavier, gravity pulled your head to the muscular shoulder next to you as sleep pulled you under.
When you awoke, the sun was shining, and you felt rested for the first time in days.
You also felt a familiar sturdiness underneath your cheek, as well as a large arm wrapped around your waist.
Looking up, you found M’Baku staring down on you, a serious - almost nervous - look on his face.
He smiled. “Good morning, Y/n. How did you sleep?”

“Griot, what is Shuri’s location?” Yawning, you stretched your body to shake off the sleep.
“The panther is in a meeting with the Design Group, in the lab.”
Turning on your side, you reached out your hand to the empty side of the bed and took in the coldness on the silk sheets.
“Thank you, Griot,” you sighed.
Being in a relationship with the leader of Wakanda’s design group was not always easy. Shuri had no set schedule, it was not like a 9-5 where she would have time to wind down and spend time with you like clockwork. She was constantly working on some new invention or approving blueprints or improving old tech. Your initial attraction to her was mostly because of how crazy intelligent she was(but also because of how sexy her smile was). However, now her intelligence was getting in the way of you two spending time together. And it had only become worse once she restored the mantle of the Black Panther. She would leave meals early or eat them in the lab while she worked; leave for the lab at 4am when she woke up with a new idea.
For a whole week, she hadn’t even been in bed when you drifted off to sleep. The big plush bed felt empty at night. And the only way you knew she’d slept next to you was because the imprint of her big head was left on her pillow. Frustration had already begun to creep up your back as she had barely touched you in almost two weeks. How could she train your body to yearn for her touch and deny you the release that you’ve missed? You had to do something about this.
You walked into the entrance of the lab, saluting the Dora Milaje on guard as you passed them by. The Dora was always so strong and graceful, characteristics you wished you possessed. You made a mental note to take Okoye up on those sparring lessons she once offered. Griot announced you as you walked in.
“Panther, Y/N, daughter of Asante is here.” You chuckled as you looked at the yellow orb on the screen.
“Thank you, Griot” You stood next to Shuri as she wrote Wakandan code on an interface.
“Sthandwa, what are you doing in the lab? You never come in here unless I call you,” she mumbled, still too preoccupied with her work.
“That’s not true, you just don’t notice me,” you eyed her as she continued her work. “Shuri, stop for just a moment!”
She looked at the pout on your face and put the stylus down, swiping the interface away. Pulling you into a hug, she squeezed your waist and peppered your cheeks with kisses. You giggled and felt her smile against your cheek in between the pecks. And for a moment, it felt as if all was fine. Being in her arms once again made everything feel right. But you could not break now.
“What can I do for you, my love?” Shuri kissed your cheek once more before picking up her stylus once again. You missed her embrace as soon as she let go of you.
“You weren’t in bed this morning.”
“Uxolo, we had an early meeting.”
She walked to the other side of the lab and began to tinker with her gauntlets. Your brow furrowed with frustration. Why wasn’t paying attention to you?
“Maybe you should take a break. You could get away—“
“I can’t,” she shook her head, cutting you off, “I have a field mission in 48 hours and the reconfigurations on my suit must be done before I leave.”
“Shuri, you haven’t been in bed all week. I’m starting to think you might be cheating. I mean, you obviously don’t care about me,” you lied.
She set down her gauntlets and gave you a skeptical look. Your words were chosen with intent. If she wouldn’t pay attention to you when you were playing nice, you knew you’d have to get under her skin. You shrugged, smirking at her as she walked over to you. She leaned down to match your height, her lips dangerously close to your ear.
“I see what you’re trying to do, Y/N. Don’t make me have to discipline you in front of my staff.” Her threat made your core pool with desire and you choked down a moan when she moved to softly squeeze your throat.
“Nkosazana,” Shuri said lowly, keeping her eye out for onlookers, “ I know I’ve been busy and I miss you terribly but behave for me, okay?”
You nodded and she smiled, taking her hand from around your throat and holding your face gently.
“Good girl. Now go, I’ll meet you in the garden in an hour for brunch.” You squinted your eyes at her in suspicion and she chuckled.
“I’ll be there, go.” She turned you around by your waist and slapped your ass, making you jump a little.
“Okay, okay, I’m going!”
Tumblr media
An hour and a half had passed when you grew impatient. Maybe there was a threat she had to tend to, you thought. But if that was true, one of the Dora would have alerted you.
Another 30 mins had passed and in that time you had counted the flowers in the garden twice. You had already picked over the food on the table and ultimately decided you were too upset to eat. A ping from your kimoyo beads pulled you from your thoughts.
“Y/n, the panther sends her apologies. She is attending a meeting with the tribal elders and will have to reschedule your brunch.”
Are you fucking kidding me?
You rolled your eyes and sighed loudly, “Thanks, Griot.”
You got up and gathered the rest of the food, taking the leftovers to the kitchen. Once back in your living quarters, you decided to do your hair. It had been a minute since you switched up styles and you needed to shake off this disappointment.
After setting up your workstation with packs of hair, a crochet needle, rubber bands, eco gel, and a rat tail comb, you put on your favorite show. The style you were going for was going to take quite some time and you were glad to have access to all the episodes; Shuri had created a VPN for your devices once you moved to Wakanda full time and you wasted no time putting it to good use. Raising your arm, you used your kimoyo beads to take a photo of your setup and sent it to Shuri. She opened the photo but didn’t respond.
Tumblr media
10 hours later, your arms felt as heavy as bricks. Not even the food breaks in between could lessen the pain. The soreness had started to set in and your body wanted to give up. Section after section, you paved your way through your thick curls; taming them and finishing out the afro-bubble braids. After decorating your hair with gold adornments, you looked at the clock. 11:55 PM?!
One painful clothing change later, you stood in only your sweatshirt dress and stretched out your limbs.
“Griot, is Shuri still in the lab,” you asked, stepping into your slippers.
“Yes, y/n. She has asked not to be disturbed.”
Oh the fuck well, you thought to yourself. You planned on doing much more than just disturbing her.
The blaring drums of afrobeats sounded through the entrance of the lab. Turning the corner, you saw Shuri working intently. Her clothes were different than what she wore this morning. She wore a sleeveless black crop and a matching pair of joggers. Your eyes traced down her toned arms and caught sight of her exposed midriff. Memories of your bodies entwined in intimacy flooded your mind, causing your mouth to go dry.
“I can see you, nkosazana,” Shuri said, disrupting your thoughts of arousal.
You shuffled in and sat on her desk behind her.
“I thought I had Griot inform you that I did not want to be disturbed.”
“Eh, you missed our brunch so maybe this is payback?” She only chuckled in response and you crossed your arms in a huff. Swiping away the interface, she turned to face you. The look on her face as she walked towards you made your stomach tighten with anticipation.
“What would you have me do? Leave Wakanda to its own defenses with no tech to protect them? All because you’re a needy little brat?” You watched as she slid her hand up your calf.
“Well, I miss you when you’re not there—“ your breath hitched as she opened your legs, settling between your thighs. You watched her hands roam your thick thighs.
“You miss me? Or do you just miss my touch?” Shuri slipped her hands under your dress and gripped your hips; pulling you to the edge of the desk. She moved in closer, her lips just a whisper away from yours; silently challenging your sense of control.
“I just miss you.”
“Hm. Your hair looks beautiful. Did you do that just for me?”
You whispered a yes as her roaming hand finally reached the end of its journey, touching where you needed her most. She swiped a single digit up your dewy slit and you bit your bottom lip to quell a building moan.
“So wet for me already, sthandwa. Is this what you wanted,” she asked, rubbing painfully slow circles around the jewel between your lips. You nodded hastily and held onto the desk for dear life. She smiled widely at your movement.
“All you had to do was ask. Are you going to be good for me, Y/n?”
“Yes, yes, I’ll be good.” She took your words as a promise and lifted the dress over your head, leaving you exposed and dripping with desire. She grazed her hands over your breasts, kneading one of your erect nubs between her fingers. You moaned in delight at the feeling and crashed your lips into hers; nipping and sucking on her bottom lip.
Shuri pushed you back and you shivered from the coolness of the desk against your back. Her fingers returned to your pussy, inserting two fingers and pumping them in and out of your velvety walls. Your body clenched around her fingers as she built a steady pace. A loud whimper of her name escaped your mouth and echoed in the empty lab.
“You sound so beautiful when you say my name like that, sthandwa. Let me hear it again,” she practically moaned with you, reaching her free hand to grab something out of her desk. A buzzing noise sounded in your ears and you felt it before you could question it. Shuri moved the vibrator around your clit as she built up the pace of her fingers. The lewd squelching of your pussy was like heaven to her ears.
“Fuuuuuuck, I don’t think I can hold it, baby.” The vibrating on your clit was threatening to undo your very being. The build-up was beginning to be too much as the familiar coil in your middle continued to tighten. Your release was just within reach and you needed it desperately. Shuri leaned over you, kissing your neck and whispering into your ear.
“I want you to cum for me, nkosazana, but I don’t know if you deserve it,” Shuri uttered before moving down to take your left nipple in her mouth, sucking on it intently.
“Shuri, please!” Your back arched as her finger scissored in and out of you, hitting your g-spot. She trailed kisses along your chest before slowing her pace to a stop; taking the vibrator away as well. Your complaints fell on deaf ears and she grinned smugly. Your throbbing clit only added to your annoyance.
“Don’t give me that face. I told you about disobeying me,” she said, pulling you up to a sitting position. Shuri helped you put your dress back on, being mindful of your fresh braids.
“Baby, that’s not fair—“
“I don’t want to hear it. Now go sit over there. This last algorithm should only take a few minutes.” She lifted you off the desk, her hands lingering on your ass. You rested your face on her shoulder and groaned in discontent, causing her to laugh.
“If you would just behave, you wouldn’t be in this mess.”

Part Seven
Anyone working under the delusion that Ivar would accept the fact that his wife had escaped him eventually learned that would not be the case.
His men had stopped their violent search of Kattegat, just as he had promised Bjorn, but he was still searching for her.
Even as the months went on to become nearly a full year.
(Y/N) had been missing for ten months, one week and four days, Ivar was keeping count of his lonely nights. Despite how the people talked he had not let Freydis warm his bed in his wife’s absence.
Instead he spent most of his days and nights in his war room, looking over all the maps of other cities and villages that Kattegat traded with the most. He was furious at the fact that there had been no news from any of his informants, and his relationship with his brothers did little to comfort him.
Bjorn was, as he expected, furious at his sending off warriors to such vital trading cities. He had shouted himself nearly blue when he’d arrived at Ivar’s estate; of course he let the King do his whining and even allowed him to smash his war table in his tantrum, because to him none of it mattered.
His ships had sailed, his warriors deployed and there was nothing to be done about it; not by Bjorn or even himself. Hvitserk, like he always had, chose to remain neutral in the argument. Ubbe was clearly on Bjorn’s side, but unlike Bjorn, Ubbe seemed to understand why he had acted so hastily even if he disapproved of the actions.
Currently Ubbe was the only one of his brothers who had friendly conversations with him, and Ivar would never be able to express how much he appreciated the company in these hard months.
‘Still no news?’ Ubbe asked as they both sat on the beach and watched a merchant ship approach.
‘Nearly a hundred spies and no good news.’ Ivar sighed.
‘No good news?’ the eldest questioned.
‘My spies reported at last that they had a difficult time keeping track of (Y/N) in my time away, she would leave town alone around midday…and would not return home until nearly sunset.’ Ivar confessed, laying back in the sand and covering his eyes.
Ubbe felt his heart begin to beat faster, but he was not sure how much information Ivar truly had on the subject they were discussing.
‘You think she had an affair?’
‘I do not know, that is what tortures me brother. Not knowing things has always angered me, and now it seems I know less than ever. I don’t know if she was unfaithful, I don’t know where she is; all I know is she isn’t here.’
Ubbe had such conflicting feelings battling in his chest as he watched a few easy to miss tears roll down his brother's face. He was relieved to not have been discovered as (Y/N)’s lover, but still he was upset to see his brother in pain and know he was at least partially responsible for it.
‘If you think she was unfaithful why continue the search? Let go of your devotions and remarry, you have no obligations to her.’
'Why would I ever think such a thing?' Ivar asked, his anger visibly raising.
‘I will not let go, Ubbe.’ Ivar said as he sat back up and wiped his eyes with the back of his hands.
‘Not of her, not my marriage and not my anger. I will find her and she will answer every question I have.’
‘But what if you don’t find her? So far it has been nearly a year and you have had no progression in your search. It pains me to see you destroying yourself and your reputation for one woman you can replace so easily.’
Ivar looked over at his brother incredulously.
‘She can’t be replaced, not by Freydis or any woman in this world. She feared me Ubbe, do you understand that? From the day we stepped into that insignificant Christian kingdom, she looked at an army and still she feared me the most out of them.’
‘Ivar, every woman you have spoken to fears you. It would be impossible to find a woman in Kattegat you did not terrify.’
‘I know that, but how many of them would be brave enough to marry someone as vicious as me? How many would make that sacrifice? She could have stayed quiet and let any of those women be dragged away, but she stepped forward. Those Christian men offered her up like a lamb for sacrifice and still she wanted them to live, and was even smart enough to know how to play my mind games.’ Ivar explained.
‘How could I replace a woman like that, a woman that brave, who fears a filthy cripple like me?’
Ubbe sighed and stood up, looking out at the sea and saw that the ship was nearly at the docks, but he decided he could offer his younger brother some advice.
‘You shouldn’t want her to fear you, Ivar. How can anyone love what they fear?’
Ivar looked taken aback, as if he’d never considered not terrifying his wife, but instead of responding he turned his focus over to the ship crew that was unloading the boat.
‘I don’t see how he thought he was secretive?’ one of the men said casually as he helped to dock the ship.
‘He’s young, he’s never smuggled a damn thing and it shows,’
Ivar’s ears perked up upon hearing this conversation and he quickly called the two merchants over; abandoning his own chat with Ubbe.
The two men looked over at the princes curiously; as they had not been aware of the chaotic search for the Christian nun that had occurred while they were at sea.
‘Prince Ivar, Prince Ubbe.’ one of them greeted and the other nodded in agreement.
‘I’m happy that the Gods brought you all back to us, I would like to treat your crew to a small feast on my estate in the next fortnight.’ Ivar said cheerily.
Ubbe quickly understood the game Ivar was playing and he decided he wanted no part in it at all.
He bid his brother a less than polite goodbye and left the two men to Ivar’s manipulation.
A feast for a simple unimportant ship crew was unheard of, especially a feast given by a prince. It would have been considered a great sign of disrespect to decline his hospitality.
The two men thanked Ivar for his unwarranted kindness and went to let the others know that they would all, along with their families, be expected at the youngest Prince’s estate.
Ivar watched the ship crew discuss their surprising treat and he pulled himself up onto his crutches and began to walk back to the markets.
As he limped along his way he subtly motioned for one of his spies, a thrall working outside of the butcher’s stand, to walk along side him.
Obediently the man followed the wordless order and matched Ivar’s pace.
‘Everyone under my purse is to watch the men on the merchant ship that just docked. Every man is to be followed for the next fortnight. I will expect daily reports if anyone fails to report even one hour of their actions I will have them hung.’ Ivar said strictly not looking at the man at all.
As he had wished, his warning went a long way in getting the results he wanted. He received reports in the crewmens’ every action, he’d even gotten reports describing their trips into the woods to relieve themselves.
Still no news of his wife or of what the two men suspected a crew mate of smuggling, but Ivar was sure that this was the right ship.
He had discovered the ship had sailed off the morning after (Y/N) had vanished.
Ivar tasked his thralls with preparing for the feast and he was impressed with how well they had performed.
By the night his feast was set to happen he had large tables sat outside under a cloudless starlit sky and there were heaps of fine dishes and mead as well as wine from England.
The crewmen were all in awe of the extravagant show of hospitality and everyone gave him their thanks in person.
Ivar mingled among them and was pleased that the news of his wife's disappearance had become common knowledge to all of the men.
‘May I speak with you Prince Ivar?’ one of the men asked as he approached the high table.
Ivar was quick to recognize the man as one of the men he’d spoken to on the beach.
‘Of course come with me.’
With a great amount of control Ivar calmly led the man into his home away from the festivities.
‘What would you like to discuss?’ the prince asked.
‘Forgive my intruding, but I have heard of your wife’s disappearance, and I- I think I have some information to give.’ I asked.
This was what Ivar had planned; to give the crew such a grand feast that at least one man would be grateful enough to betray one another.
‘Please, I would owe you an unimaginable debt if you could help me find my wife.’ Ivar said cunningly.
‘I can’t be sure if it was your wife, all I know is that Amund had someone in that crate. We more experienced in smuggling saw him speaking with it, sliding his rations into it even.’ the old man said.
‘A crate?’ Ivar asked.
‘Yes, big crate, it could easily fit one person, maybe even two.’
‘Two?’ Ivar said, feeling his grip on his crutch tighten in his anger.
She’d had an affair and ran off with some nobody; she’d decided weeks locked in a crate with another man was better than the rest of her life with him.
‘You said this man’s name was…?’ Ivar questioned, struggling to keep his anger hidden.
‘Amund, strong boy; he went ahead of the rest of us and the first thing off the boat was the crate.’
Ivar took in all this information, trying to piece together what all this implied and he determined he needed more to work with.
‘Tell me, what happened after the merchandise was unloaded. Did he hide the crate?’
‘No, the crate was in the assigned room when we all brought in the rest, still nailed shut too. The Earl granted us his hospitality to rest after our journey.’
Again Ivar was silent, trying very hard to picture in his mind what could have happened. If (Y/N) was in the crate and this Amund was the one responsible for getting her out why did he leave it sealed?
‘Big enough for two…’ he mused, thinking that if there was a man strong enough inside with her he could break out of the crate with her then she could have escaped with him.
‘Was this crate ever damaged, or moved?’ he asked the crewman.’
‘No, at least not to my knowledge, but the journey had been harder on my body than usual in my advanced age. When the Earl offered us rest I rested, but I did hear rumors.’ the man continued.
‘Rumors?’
‘The merchants spoke of one of our crewmen walking into the Great Hall carrying an unconscious woman. I never saw her, but she was the topic of much gossip while we restocked the ship.’
‘Did anyone on your ship see this woman, even a glimpse of her?’
‘I can not say with certainty, I can only say that Amund smuggled someone out of Kattegat.’
The anger for the old man’s lack of knowledge was red hot and only cooled by his relief of finally having a lead.
Thank you for telling what you could, please enjoy the feast with your family. It is a celebration in the honor of you and all traders like you, what would our world look like without brave men like you all.’ the prince complimented as he dismissed the man.
As soon as the man was out of earshot Freydis, silent as death, immerged from the shadows of the dim lit room.
‘Spread the word, I want this man, Amund identified, and followed. He shouldn’t be able to sneeze without me knowing when and where.’ Ivar ordered, his voice much harder than it had been mere seconds ago.
‘For how long?’
‘As long as it takes for him to let down his guard and let the information slip.’
While Ivar’s spies began to focus on Amund, all the way in Denmark, (Y/N) was adapted into her new life.
In the first week of her new life as a thrall she quickly realized two things.
The first was that the life of a nun and the life of a thrall was eerily similar in many regards. An older, more hardened and experienced woman would assign tasks to her and then would judge if the task was completed correctly and met her standards. If she did well she would be given another, often more challenging task, but if it did not meet Hilda’s standards there was punishment.
It was a rare occasion when (Y/N) was on the receiving end of Hilda’s wrath, which was why her punishments always seemed so harsh in comparison to the other girls.
The second thing was that, even despite the hatred the head thrall clearly had for her, she greatly preferred the life of a thrall over the life she had fled from.
Sure the shed the thralls all shared was cold and hardly much of a shelter at all but she slept fine knowing she wouldn’t wake up to Ivar’s rage.
And even better she found other Christians among the women she now shared status with.
It felt as if she had been welcomed into a new church, even if it had only been a small circle consisting of three women of various ages.
There was Kendra, the youngest being only around nineteen who had been captured and sold from York. Dawn was in her mid thirties and was a cook, she had never said where she was from originally, just that she had been only thirteen when she became the old cook’s apprentice. Finally there was Megan who was closer to (Y/N)’s age being twenty four, she was originally from Essex.
After two years of hiding her faith from her tyrannical husband, praying amongst others was euphoric. Holding hands in prayer was what she looked forward to most when she awoke at first light.
Every morning she would be awakened by Hilda whacking a wooden stick against the walls of the shed from outside before the doors of the shed were thrown open.
‘Get up! Work to be done!’ she boomed unnecessarily.
It was common knowledge that anyone still laying down by the time the doors opened would not only be promptly hit with the stick but they also would get no first meal.
The term meal was used loosely, it was only gr Rx bone broth and uncooked crops or, if they were so lucky, scraps from feasts.
Today’s meal was bone broth and carrots, after receiving her portion (Y/N) went to the corner with her small group and they shared a brief prayer over your meal before eating quickly.
‘What is your chore list today Kendra?’ she asked the youngest.
‘Caring for the Earl’s stock.’ was the answer she was given.
‘Be sure you give the chickens enough, the last few we’ve cooked were more feathers than meat.’ Dawn sighed.
‘I will be…preparing for a visitor.’ Megan said quietly, hardly touching her small meal.
At this all of them went silent.
Megan was often used as a cleaning girl around the great hall, but on the rare occasion that the Earl had important company she was a bed warmer.
It was a truly horrible fate for any woman but it seemed to be an especially cruel task for a Christian.
Every night before Hilda came in to order everyone to sleep they all joined hands in a silent prayer, but even still it was obvious Megan only prayed for God’s mercy and forgiveness.
(Y/N) reached out and took Megan’s hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.
‘God knows your heart and he knows your mind and spirit. He knows what sins you choose to commit and he knows the sins done against you. He will always forgive your sins and in time he will punish those who have sinned you.’ she encouraged.
Megan held onto the hand that she had been offered. Of course all the women of this small congregation were close, but Megan had such a strong connection and admiration for (Y/N).
The lie that Amund had told the Earl was widely believed and widely discussed in the markets. Meaning it was well known that (Y/N) was a runaway bed warmer herself.
It was for this reason that Megan looked at (Y/N) such wonder and great respect. In her unknowing eyes (Y/N) had done the impossible; escaped a lifetime of being nothing but a common whore for Pagans.
‘Hurry up you dogs! There's work to be done and if even one task isn’t completed then no one eats tonight!’ Hilda’s voice boomed.
Realizing that she hadn’t been focusing on her already cooling broth (Y/N) quickly drank the remaining liquid in the wooden bowl and stuck her carrots into her skirts.
Hopefully she would get a moment to sneak away and eat them before nightfall, if not then she would give it away to a beggar.
They all arose and set out to their assigned work locations.
Hilda sent a glare of pure malice at (Y/N) as she passed her on the way out of the shed.
‘If I hear so much as a word against you from the healers I’ll have you flogged.’ the old haggish woman warned.
‘Yes Hilda.’ (Y/N) replied, the air of respect and responsibility in her tone before she went on.
She had been assigned as a healer’s apprentice due to her telling the Earl she had some experience in that field of work.
Her days were spent gathering herbs and roots, mixing and brewing, occasionally there will be a person who is injured or falls so ill they need physical care and when that happens she would be the one to give them care. She would clean them, try to close up or disinfect their wounds and feed them remedies.
Today when she entered the healer’s hut she was met with the now familiar scent of living rotting flesh.
‘Girl.’ the healer, an old ragged woman named Skadi, called to her from the table where she was laying out her supplies.
‘Who is it?’ the thrall asked as she approached.
‘One of the Earl’s blacksmiths; got his foolish self cut and didn’t think to clean the sore.’
‘Infection, can it be treated?’
‘No, but he’ll survive.’ Skadi said sadly as she placed her necessary materials on a tray.
There were ropes to tie off the blood flow and restrain him, a leather strap to keep the man from biting off or swallowing his tongue, and a red hot ax in order to both remove the limb and cauterize the wound.
You hated doing this but it was necessary, the hut stunk with infection but it didn’t smell of death quite yet.
The man was older, maybe forty but clearly he’d lived a hard life to reach that age. He was quiet but his chest was heaving as if he had been fighting for each breath. His eyes were screwed shut and his head was turned away from his rotting hand.
It truly was disgusting to see a hand that mangled. The wound was still open, but no longer bleeding leaving an open gash caked in blackened blood and crusted puss.
She went about tying him down, making sure to be extra precise when restraining the arm that would soon be handless.
This was how she spent her days, in the hut with the sick and injured. It was a far cry from her old life in Kattegat. She was no longer a prince’s wife that was tended to by a full staff of thralls. Now she was herself thrall and she was called upon to do hard, truly hard, work and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
Leaving the hut for the day (Y/N) found herself exhausted but hopeful that the man would be ok once he was rested.
As she made her way back to the shed she chomped on the carrots she had stored away from breakfast, thankful to have them at least in case someone really didn’t finish their chores and no one was given dinner tonight.
It was as she finished her last carrot that something compelled her to look over at the beach as she neared the shed.
There was a ship, of course there was a ship at the beach; where else would a ship be if not at sea. That wasn’t what made her stop in her tracks, it was undoubtedly a Kattegat ship.
By no means was (Y/N) an expert on such things but after two years she could single out Floki’s handiwork from any other boat builder.
Those sails, the dragon figurehead…that was not a merchant ship.
With her heart racing she hurried into the shed and huddled into the corner where she slept, but she did not lay down.
She just sat with her hands fiddling with the threads of her skirts, as she thought back to the morning conversation she’d had.
A visitor, an important enough visitor to be offered a bed warmer.
How had she not thought to ask who this visitor was? She prayed with all her heart that it wasn’t Ivar, but there was no way to be sure.
No, Ivar couldn’t know which boat you snuck onto, even if he did he wouldn’t just devote himself to hunting you.
At least not personally.
Ivar was a prince of a wealthy kingdom, as well as a respected warlord in his own right. What man would dare to disobey him if he ordered them to find you.
Everything was hitting her all at once.
She would have to leave tonight…run until she made it to the next town.
With what? No food, supplies or weapons to protect yourself? This wasn’t like the cold journey to Floki’s that last night. This would be a three day trip by foot. Not to mention it was no longer winter. It was spring and roads would be busy and therefore dangerous. A woman in rags traveling alone was little more than an invitation for a rapist on his way.
It wasn’t ideal by any means but it was either risk the dangers of the road or stay and be turned over to Ivar by whatever man Ivar had sent after her.
‘(Y/N), you look as if you’ve seen a ghost.’ Kendra said as she sat beside her.
‘Not to be dramatic, but it feels as if I have.’

Sequel or second chapter to the M'baku/Reader/Namor love triangle. Like the wedding and the angst and the healing. Everyone reacting to reader and Namor starting to actually fall in love with each other.
Ah yes let's suffer together
Summary: The betrothal leads to a wedding of convenience. M'baku is still coping with what he has done. You and Namor may have a real chance.
PART ONE
Angst. Violence
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Namor watched you from the other side of the room. It had surprised Namora almost as much as it had surprised himself that he had allowed you to paint a mural on the wall. He had reserved the pass time to his own whims and the history of Talokan. But he reasoned, you were now part of that history, as you would be the First Queen of Talokan.
Tomorrow was the wedding. You had no hand in planning it barring choosing the design of your dress and what jewelry you would wear. It was not in you to plan flowers, decorations, and music when the ultimate decision to marry anyone was not your own. But in the week since you returned to the Talokan caves, Namor had been a steady and strong presence by your side.
He was so different from M'baku. If the roles were reversed, M'baku, would have tried his hardest to get you to participate in the planning of the royal affair. He would have insisted on the types of music and clothing. There would have been directions on how to make all the food vegetarian. He would have tried to cheer you up by reminding you that weddings were supposed to be celebrations. But, Namor left you to do what you wished. He didn't push you to do anything. In fact he simply allowed you to do whatever soothed you. He would personally bring food and drink to your chambers, ask easy questions about how you were feeling, and would offer physical comfort but never more than a brief hug, hand hold, or kiss on the forehead unless you asked for more.
You had been mulling over everything. How quickly your life had changed over night. The wedding had been announced but you didn't know how it had been received in Wakanda. The people of Talokan has been weary but Namor had been sure to speak of your virtues in as grandiose of a manner that he could. They had been welcoming the last time Namor had taken you around Talokan again. It had not escaped you how odd it was for you to become Queen to a nation that you couldn't really live in.
"It is beautiful," Namor's voice broke you out of your thoughts as he came up beside you. He had allowed you to paint your own mural. It was of Jabariland at the height of the spring when the snow would melt except for the highest peak. There was a small depiction of you, M'baku, and his father at the entrance of the caves.
Namor admired your work and you admired him. He was a beautiful man, his skin golden, and his eyes had both youth and maturity. You thanked Hanuman that Namor was not the type to be a mean husband. He turned to you and gently patted your head, a proud look on his face. When he went to cup your cheek you leaned into it, sighing softly.
"Can you hug me, please?" You asked, eyes closed. You didn't see the softening of Namor's gaze or the affection he had in his eyes as he pulled you into his arms. You were seated and he was standing so your ear was to his chest as you wrapped your arms around his waist. His cape enveloped you, bringing you warmth and safety. His heartbeat kept a steady rhythm as you clung to him.
Namor said nothing as he held you, running one hand up and down the middle of your back. He found out quickly that you were affectionate and he didn't mind fulfilling your need in moments like this. Your guard was down and it warmed his heart to know that you trusted him, in spite of everything. It did not escape Namor that you could have and should have been angry at him for suggesting the marriage of convenience. But his only thought had been of keeping you from living a life next to M'baku, a noble king but someone who had scarred you, invisibly but deeply. At least with him, there was a chance for more, with time.
"Namor," Your voice was slightly muffled against his chest.
"Yes, in reina," Namor replied, making no move to release you from his arms.
"What does that mean? You've been calling me that since we came back." You asked innocently, your fingers gripped at the cape on his back experimentally, not sure if you were clinging too tightly.
"It means 'my queen'," Namor replied softly, not sure how you would take it.
You pulled away slightly to look up at him. He met your eyes with an apprehensive gaze. You smiled softly, "I like it,"
Namor exhaled the breath he didn't know he was holding, "I like it too."
"Are you ready for tomorrow?" You asked, leaning back into his embrace, unable to stop yourself from snuggling into his warmth.
"Yes. But I worry about you. It will be difficult," Namor replied, kissing the crown of your head.
You let the silence sink in. You had thought about your circumstances for hours at a time as the week had passed. Time was moving quickly and also not at all. Tomorrow was your wedding to a man you barely knew, who you chose over a man you had known your whole life. Yet, you couldn't find it in yourself to regret it. You chuckled to yourself, then stood up, surprising Namor.
You gazed at the handsome King, who should intimidate you, even scare you after everything he had done. But you felt safe, you felt cared for. Even if it was not love, not yet, it was close. You felt yourself smile at him, "You promised to take care of me. To make me happy. To love me, while I learned to love you."
Namor tilted his head, a look of amusement on his face, "Yes, in reina. I do not take this lightly. I never took a queen in all my years ruling Talokan. I never felt it necessary nor did I feel compelled to, until now."
"You are cruel and ruthless, Namor. I know this. But I also know that you are kind, protective, and do not act without reason. I trust you, more than I should trust anyone that I have known for such a short time. I don't fear what tomorrow brings because I trust you, wholeheartedly," You cupped the king's cheek. The softness in his eyes at this moment could melt the coldest heart. "May I kiss you, in ajawo?"
Namor's brow raised at the use of his language, and a smile spread across his face. His hand found yours on his cheek and clutched them as you leaned in to kiss him. It was chaste, earnest, and full of promises.
~~~
M'baku watched from high up in the council room as the city prepared for the grand celebration that would take place tomorrow. Wakandans and Talokanil alike were setting decorations, preparing a bounty of food, and practicing exhibitions to perform for the new royalty. He wished to drown himself in a barrel of wine or a bottle of whiskey but shook his head. The Jabari King had refused to partake in any alcohol since that fateful night.
He had stopped weeping over what had happened, although the guilt remained. A deserved brow beating from Okoye and several pep talks from Shuri had distracted him from falling into a deep depression. He couldn't even find it in himself to hate K'uk'ulkan. The man reacted in the exact way he would have if he had stumbled upon the same sight.
M'baku dreaded the next day. He dreaded that, without any blood family to be found for you, that he would be the one to give his blessing. The woman he loved would walk from his arms into another man's and it was his own doing. The great Jabari warrior was also worried beyond measure. He admired the feathered serpent god and the kingdom he built, but he knew nothing but cruelty from the man.
Except on that day, of course, the day of the treaty and alliance. He had been gracious, kind, and friendly. M'baku had found an easy comradery with the sea king until it was obvious that you favored the other man. Then his feelings had soured. But he trusted your judgement as much as it broke his heart. He knew you would not have chosen someone that you would not be able to tolerate. From Okoye's words, there may have already been a spark manifesting that first day.
"M'baku, how are you?" The gentle voice of Shuri broke his brooding.
He sighed heavily, turning to the Princess, "As well as can be expected. At least we can say with confidence that I did not completely destroy this alliance before it truly started."
M'baku scoffed at his own comment, sitting heavily on the throne. Shuri approached him slowly, "She has sent a message, asking if you would like to speak with her before tomorrow. She wants you to give the blessing, but only if you wish."
There it was, the expectation of him as your only kin. His father was dead and no other Jabari was close to you in the way that he was. He stared hard at the ground. He would need to see you once before then, if only to release whatever feelings he had pre-emptively, so he would not lose himself in front of the kingdom when he blessed the union. "Tell her to come. She is right, we have things to discuss."
~~~
"I am not sure I should go in there with you," Namor stood with you at the doors to the council room.
"I need you with me, in ajawo," You replied, already knowing that using his language would touch him.
Namor sighed as he turned to you, cupping your face in his hands, "In reina, this should be a private conversation. You have not seen him since the betrothal was decided on. You left angry and he was left guilty and devastated. I do not want to intrude on matters of the family."
"You are my family now, Namor. K'uk'ulkan," You grasped his hands in your own, staring into his eyes hoping he would see your desperation. You had thought you were ready to return to the palace, but your anxiety had skyrocketed the moment you entered the familiar halls. "I need you with me, please."
"Do you still fear him?" The Talokan King asked, stepping even closer to you, his thumbs caressing your cheeks.
"I do not, but my body remembers. It rejects this place," A tear escaped and Namor brushed it away. You had never thought you would abhor the Wakandan royal palace but trauma was powerful.
Namor leaned in and kissed your forehead. He stepped back and took your hand before waving his hand for the two Dora soldiers to open the doors for you both. When you entered you found not only M'baku there but also Shuri. A surprise for everyone it seemed.
"K'uk'ulkan," M'baku greeted the other king, standing and nodding his head at him.
"King M'baku," Namor replied with a similar nod. He addressed Shuri, "Princess, we did not know you would also be in attendance."
"I could say the same about you, Namor," Shuri's voice wasn't outright aggressive but still held some steal. There seemed to be no love lost between the former enemies.
"I asked him to be here," You defended him, still gripping his hand. You turned to your childhood friend. "Baku, how are you?"
"I have been better. I trust that he has kept you well," M'baku addressed you, ignoring the other two in the room as best he could. You looked healthy but tired. There was a tension in your body that had never used to be there when you were in his presence and it made his heart clench.
"Yes. I am well, we both are," You glanced at Namor before releasing his hand. He stepped back, not wanting to intrude. When you glanced back at M'baku you noticed the pain in his eyes and how they lingered on your previously joined hands. The tension in the air was suffocating and you knew that it would not wane with the other two people in the room. "Namor, Shuri, can you leave us to talk?"
"Are you sure?" M'baku asked, beating Namor to the question.
"Yes. Namor, you were right this is a matter of family. We need to speak alone," you turned to Namor and Shuri. Namor nodded and turned towards the doors that sprang open. Shuri hesitated but you shook your head. "Please, Shuri."
She sighed then left the room, following the Talokan King. The doors closed behind her and you stood before your childhood friend, your brother in all but blood. Both of you hesitated, not sure how to begin what would be an emotional confrontation. You both tried to speak at the same time and then simultaneously gestured for the other to go first. You both smiled slightly.
"You do not have to give the blessing, we can go without it," You began.
"I will do it. My father would have wanted it that way. It is also asking for K'uk'ulkan's word that although he is taking you from us, he will not forget your heritage and what this marriage means. It is tradition," M'baku insisted. "It will look good to the people. Outside of those involved, a few of the Dora, and the council, no one knows what took place that night. We are framing my bringing you to the table during the treaty celebration as our introduction of a marriage alliance. It will look like a decisive diplomatic decision. It will be celebrated as such."
You listened intently, understanding that appearances had to be kept, and honor maintained. He was waiting for you to say something but your mouth ran dry. M'baku had truly taken on the mantle of King and was doing a fine job despite the emotional turmoil.
You took a deep breath and stepped forward. You willed the tension to leave your body and the anxious shaking to stop. You gently took his much larger hands in yours, "Baku, I forgive you. I want you to let go of any guilt so that tomorrow we can really celebrate. Father would have wanted that."
The Jabari King gripped your hands firmly. He shook his head, sadness bearing down on his large form. "I never wanted this. Even when you left I knew you left because of my growing feelings. I didn't ask you to stay then because I didn't want to force you. I didn't want to ask you for something you couldn't give. I never thought I would try and take from you."
"You were drunk and asleep," you cupped his cheek, making him meet your gaze. The proximity had your heart racing. "I know you M'baku. I know you better than anyone and you would never hurt me on purpose. So I ask, that tomorrow, you be happy for me. It is sudden, and it comes from a sad incident, but I truly believe I can be happy with him. He has only shown me compassion in this short time. Even when I have ignored him or lashed out. He has only been gracious."
"I did not expect him to offer to marry you," M'baku revealed, his hand came up to hold the one you had on his cheek. "I did not expect you to accept either."
You hesitated, feeling the warmth of him as he leant into your touch. The familiar smell of him surrounded you. The grip he had on your hand felt so normal but also too tight. Your breathing sped up and you were overcome with the memories of his weight on you. You gasped, and shoved him away.
M'baku was shocked then his face crumbled with shame. You willed yourself to breathe normally, hugging yourself, "Baku, I'm sorry."
He coughed, stopping the sob that fought to rip through his chest. The King stepped back, giving you room, lifting a hand to stop you when you tried to step forward. "You made the right decision. I would have hated to see you fear me every day. Don't apologize."
"One day, I promise I will be able to hug you again. Like old times. We will spar in the snow, and I will tackle you and wrestle like we used to," You put on a brave face, the memories of that night still playing in the back of your mind.
"Go, I'm sure K'uk'ulkan will want you well rested for tomorrow. You must show him what a beautiful bride Wakanda has brought to him," M'baku tried to joke.
You were still shaky as you turned to the doors. When they opened, Shuri entered first. She scanned your shaking form with concern but you shook your head, walking past her. Shuri watched as you walked straight into Namor's waiting arms, and buried your face into his neck. He clutched you and whispered something in your ear that made you nod. The Talokan King looked up, nodded at Shuri and glanced at M'baku, before he turned with you and heading down the hall. Shuri watched until you and Namor were out of sight before she commanded the door closed and approached the Wakandan King.
"What happened?" She asked, taking in the stoic king who was staring up at a point on the ceiling.
"I will give my blessing tomorrow and watch her marry K'uk'ulkan." He replied, running heavy hand across his face before meeting the Princess' piercing gaze, "She will be happier with him than she can ever be with me. Today proved that."
Shuri was not at all convinced that M'baku believed what he said but she only nodded, worrying about her friends.
~~~
Namor turned at the sound of your approach. He took in your wedding clothes, a mix of Jabari furs, though lighter than tradition, and flowing Talokanil fabric. You were draped in jewelry and your hair intricately braided. He approached you with a smile, taking your hand a laying a kiss upon your knuckles, "You look beautiful, in reina."
"You look beautiful too," You replied. His skin matched the stunning gold that graced his body. He wore a cape that covered half his chest and atop his head was the grand headdress he had worn at the celebration of the alliance.
"Are you ready?" He asked, entwining your hand in his as he led you to the double doors.
You nodded, making the jewelry in your hair jingle. You stopped and looked up at the handsome visage of the king, feeling surprisingly giddy. You could hear the music and the chatter of the people. Both countries had come together to celebrate a prosperous union and the excitement was infectious.
"Namor, K'uk'ulkan," You addressed your betrothed who smiled down at you, also being sucked in by the jovial atmosphere permeating through the doors of the grand hall. "I am happy to be marrying you. In spite of everything that has led to this moment, I look forward to being your wife and Queen."
The King smiled broadly as he cupped your cheek, "I promise, in reina, your happiness will be mine to protect from now on."
With those words he took your hand and pushed open the doors. You walked together down the procession line, regal and majestic towards the dais that looked over the crowd. There were cheers and music as you presented yourselves before your people. You noticed that the entire Jabari tribe was in attendance, your fellow warriors coming to see you off. The Talokanil were also present, dressed in light clothing that shined with the gleam of vibranium threading. There was singing and dancing as you made your way through the crowd.
Once you had made it to the dais, there stood a Talokanil shaman and a council member to officiate. The crowd died down at their command. Before you lay a table with representations of the four elements, a tradition of Mayan weddings. The grand headdress was removed from Namor's head as incense was lit and waved around the expanse of the space.
The council member spoke first, "We now ask for a member of the Jabari tribe to witness and bless this union for the prosperity of the alliance between Wakanda and Talokan. To the happiness of the daughter of Jabariland and the first son of Talokan."
M'baku stepped forth. His expression was schooled but softened when you met his gaze and smiled at him. "It is with great pleasure, that I, M'baku, King of Wakanda and Son of the Jabari, bless this union and wish the greatest happiness to this daughter of the Jabari and my dearest friend. To K'uk'ulkan I ask that this union remain a symbol of not only our alliance but of your promises to treat this treasured woman as precious and as much one of yours as she is ours. Let our ancestors also bless this union and bring peace and happiness to these lands."
Cheers exploded as he draped you and then Namor each in a gold necklace. Namor nodded and shook M'baku's hand. They exchanged words that you could not hear over the sounds of jubilation. When M'baku stepped back, the Wakandan council man moved forward. He compelled you both to repeat after him as he expressed traditional vows of love and loyalty. You felt your heart swell with each devotion. Hearing Namor repeat the words as he gripped your hand tightly solidified that you had made the right choice. The way the Talokanil King looked at you as he slid the ring onto your finger and you did the same to him spoke volumes of how much he already cared for you. There were cheers from the Wakandans as the first half of the ceremony ended.
The shaman of Talokan took his turn. He spoke in Yucatec Mayan with Griot blasting a translation from speakers embedded in the halls.
"We stand before the Mother Earth and the Cosmos to bring this union together in their spiritual blessing," The shaman lit a candle in the middle of the table. Namor gestured for you to stand at one side of the table as he stood at the other. You looked upon the flowers, fruits, seeds, and candle on the table before looking back into the eyes of the king. His gaze was warm then it changed. Suddenly steely and full of rage, but it wasn't directed at you.
In an instant, Namor stepped around the table and caught the spear, inches before it impaled your chest. He whipped around and threw it full bodied in the direction it came. The crowd was shocked into silence as they witnessed the spear pierce the chest of a Talokanil woman and lodged itself into the ground, pinning her so she could only stand impaled.
"What is the meaning of this?" M'baku yelled, stepping forward.
Namor turned, eyes full of rage, "Stay with her."
The command was harsh and the look in the serpent god's eyes reminded the Wakandan King of the barely survived punch to his chest during the battle of Wakanda. He placed himself to block you partially with his body as Namor flew to the end of the procession. Namora and Attuma appeared from the crowd, flanking him as he landed before the impaled warrior. Namor's voice echoed in Yucatec Mayan that Griot continued to translate.
"Child, what is the meaning of this? You ask for your death by attacking my Queen on our wedding day. You insult the people of Talokan and Wakanda with this dangerous farce!" His voice was barely controlled rage as he came up to the face of the Talokanil woman.
She spat at the king despite her mask, knowing the gesture would get her meaning across, "You insult us K'uk'ulkan! You insult the very kingdom you say you protect by choosing a surface dweller as our Queen."
"Our ancestors once sacrificed humans to the gods in exchange for blessings. I think it is time that we do that again," Namor nodded at Attuma and Namora who moved to carry the offending woman. Pulling her form from the spear that was still pierced through her made her screams echo in the spacious hall. Namor headed back towards the dais as the woman screamed and fought.
"You will bring us to our ends! I am not the only one who sees how you fall from grace K'uk'ulkan!" She continued to berate the king.
When Namor reached the table again he gruffly told M'baku to step back to his place. Namor took your hands and looked at you, "No one will harm you."
You were astonished at the display of violence and cruelty. But the logically part of you knew that this was the man who had killed Queen Ramonda without a hint of remorse. This was the man that had attempted to take Wakanda under his rule. This was just another part of the man you were to marry. He sighed, and you saw his shoulders fall slightly, and his eyes soften. Namor returned to the gentle king that you knew him as, "Forgive me, in reina. But I must make an example of her."
"In ajawo," You spoke softly, "she really meant to kill me?"
"Yes," Namor confirmed before his eyes hardened again and he turned from you. Namora and Attuma held the woman with her her back on the table and her legs draped over the edge, a trail of blood had followed them. She still fought against her captors, even turning to spit in your directions. Blood was pooling in her breather as she glared at you.
"You will never be the true Queen of Talokan," She raged at you.
Namor had taken a dagger from the Shaman. You could see the Wakandans watching in horror. The Dora Milaje tried to control the crowd, until someone screamed, "Spare her, this is not the way!"
M'baku was the one to address the crowd, cooing as the rest of the Jabari joined him until the people were silent. "This woman has committed an act of treason not only to Talokan but to Wakanda! She offends not only King K'uk'ulkan but Jabariland as well! Her penalty from the Wakanda of old would be banishment. But the Wakanda under my rule sentences her to death. She however is not one of ours to lay charges against. She belongs to Talokan and if they wish to sacrifice her as penance, if they wish to offer her life to their gods, then I allow it."
Namor was surprised by the backing of M'baku. When their gazes met an understanding formed. This was a personal vengeance for an attack on the woman they both cherished. M'baku returned to his place, ignoring the appalled stare from Shuri and Okoye who stood off to the side. There were murmurs in the crowds of Wakandans and Talokanil alike.
Namor lifted the ceremonial dagger, "With this sacrifice we pay back, in part, our debt to the gods and all their blessings. We spill this blood as an act of union between lands and people. Let the gods of the world answer our calls for blessings. With this sacrifice we invoke the powers that bring us into this world and take us from it."
With a powerful swing, Namor shoved the dagger deep into the chest of the Talokanil warrior, twisted it and then let her blood flow from the table and onto the floor.
The Shaman, unfazed, blew the conch shell and continued the ceremony, "We call upon the cardinal powers of the elements; fire, earth, water, and air, to purify this sacrifice and guide this partnership through light and love."
The Shaman moved forward and took your hand and Namor's placing them together and tying them with a red woven strip of cloth. He guided your hands to pour a pitcher of water over the table, over the seeds, flowers, fruit, and blood. "Let us now rejoice in this union and welcome the Queen of Talokan!"
There was a moment of hesitation before the Talokanil cheered riotously, followed by the more apprehensive Wakandans. Namor pulled you close to him, cupped your cheeks, and kissed you. You could do nothing but kiss him back as your mind reeled.
....
I hope I'm not being strange- and I fully realize it's not cannon, but I still want to explore it and I do enjoy your writing- but would it be possible to do a Killmonger x Male Reader fiction? I don't know if you take requests, but I would be happy to see this.
I have one called Come Thru. Here’s a little bitty imagine though.
Coming Out
Tumblr media
You let your black church-going homo-hating parents know you were gay only after being out of their home for a few years. You had to gain the confidence within yourself to disappoint them and not depend on their validation, it was a big step for you. Not caring about their opinion was a difficult feat and now that you’ve accomplished it you fee truly free to be yourself. You return across town full of adrenaline and light-hearted glee.
“I told them. I finally told them.” You exhale it in one breath over the car bluetooth.
“I’m so proud of you, how was it,” Erik asks.
“Man I’m over the moon! My heart.. it’s poundin in my chest, alright..”
“That’s what she said.”
“Speaking of.. You know you should think of telling Alicia that you’re-”
“I’m what?”
“Bi. Erik, the door is transparent, it’s okaaay! Alicia won’t even care.”
“I’m not bi, I’m not gay. I love the bitches, I love pussy. I like sucking on titties.”
“Bitch I’m gay and I love titties.”
“That’s you.”
“Erik, really? You know I’d never tell anyone at least acknowl-”
“What?! I’m not bi, I told you. I was drunk that night.. It didn’t mean anything. I don’t even remember what happened.”
You do.
When you were both 16 he’d kissed you. But that was an “accident”.. then last year at a party, he’d drukenly given you a handjob. Had you not stopped him, he’d have sucked your dick. He stormed off quickly, embarassed, but you were being a friend and he was dating Alicia. He maintains to this day he doesn’t remember it.
“Hm mkay,” you drop the issue for the umpteenth time. He’ll come out when he’s ready.
I remember finding your dinluke fics right away scrolling through the tag, devouring them in a day, and going. Wait that ao3 username sounds familiar. Lo and behold you were that author who wrote the excellent mbaku x tchalla fic I absolutely loved. There aren't a lot of overlap between the fandoms and finding you again across ships was a delight
Anon, helloooooo????? Omigod?????? I don't think I never met anyone who read that fic out in the wild holy shit. I'm so glad to hear you've enjoyed what I've written for both ships. Hopefully I can keep that up!
