now, this MIGHT just be my self-indulgent ass projecting on ambrosius, but I feel like he's the type of person to get REALLY bad headaches

like, I feel like I can vividly imagine him waking up with a really bad headache but, since he obviously has absolutely no self-preservation, just deciding to ignore it and pretend it isn't happening

now, by my headcanons, ambrosius goldenloin could be on his literal deathbed and the words uttered with his dying breath would be "I'm fine.", so he almost certainly wouldn't mention it to anyone

but there are telltale signs of his headaches, like him rubbing his head with the heel of his hand, flinching at loud noises, not talking or laughing as much, looking pained in his expressions, etc

ballister has gotten used to this and will immediately notice these signs and will correspondingly lower his voice, deliver more gently, sit closer to ambrosius to offer comfort, etc

on particularly bad days, ambrosius will literally be unable to speak because the sound of his own voice is too loud, and ballister has grown to recognize and adapt to this

and this is something ambrosius really really appreciates (and makes sure ballister knows he appreciates when the headache fades)

it doesn't happen too often, but it's frequent enough for there to be an established, wordless, and thankfully silent routine and agreement between them for those days. they probably usually end with cuddling in a dark room because lights are also a problem with headaches

this is all, again, entirely self-indulgent, but I feel like it fits?

For some reason, because of his disgraced Red Eye status, the supernatural community aware of Zhaohui has always attributed a certain reputation to him. Wild, impossible to control, flirtatious, and also very promiscuous. Noting that there's nothing wrong with promiscuity, Zhaohui actually never slept around all that much in the past or even now. His most consistent sexual partner was Soon-hee, who he generally only called when the comet came through. Aside from that? Maybe every now and then, but he was always the type to generally keep to himself.

People believed and added to his reputation though that he often engaged in debauchery and used that as part of their negative views of him later on. Which is peak irony, as most judgmental views of others are, because Huaxiu, a current Red Eye and Zhaohui's replacement, slept around way more than Zhaohui does. Of course, he doesn't really get any negative flak from it.

Zhaohui just lets people have their assumptions about him.

So many people have referred to the Bad Batch episode “Bad Territory” as taking place in Space Florida. And while I can see the similarities (being in Earth Florida myself), I think it’s more like Space Louisiana. Like that looks like they’re down in the bayou more than the Everglades.

Everyone talking about dottore and the segments turning into cats, but never into crows/ravens😞 imagine them cawing at you just to annoy you while zandy just sits on your shoulder completely unbothered

OMG SO CUTE... at first, it would be a bit unnerving to be surrounded by so many corvids looming over you, but you'd get used to it rather quickly. (After all, you've already dealt with being surrounded by a lot of Dottores.) Unfortunately, cawing right into your ear is a lot more aggravating than constant meowing. Your food also gets nabbed quite a few times from one of them swooping in out of nowhere... However, although they're resistant at first, they are still very much receptive to your, and only yours, touch. Small head pats and him nuzzling his beak into your finger. Pecks you affectionately. Threatens anyone who gets too close with less than affectionate pecks. (Pantalone, who found out about the situation, only laughs at the Harbinger's pathetic display of aggression.)

(On twt once i saw a video of a lady giving a crow a tummy rub with a pen... it reminds me of this. He starts squawking the moment you stop even though you're busy trying to find the antidote. 🙄 the audacity) You would also feel so proud the moment one of them actually lands on your stretched-out arm all majestically. Zandy though, is very small compared to the rest of the flock... he remains perched on your shoulder or on the top of your head in all instances. Poor little guy is overwhelmed by all the other segments towering over him. 😔 You end up missing how soft their feathers are but, you just go back to cuddling the black fluff Dottore always wears on his shoulder.

Which actually maybe is the point. idk- there's def mixed reviews lol #it has a messy unlikable MC (like actually - when half the weak ass reviews are saying the MC is annoying you know they are Actually a #complex character) and some interesting relationship dynamics #it is pretty solidly a sequel - I wouldnt read this without reading TSBW #cara does show up in here& tbh her characterisation felt quite different to me? unsure how I feel about that? but maybe it's the biased POV #also to be clear: polyam MC; not a polyam romance or anything #(there's - kinda a romance? or various feelings floating around and she 'ends up' with someone. feel like i would have liked that to end #more subtley but that's probably my personal taste lol) #man some of the 1 star reviews of this are kinda.....just racist though. can we get some measured critique in here #as I said i am not entirely sure how I feel about it but not quite in a way I can articulate.... idk! i think it's worth the read tho #it's maybe one of those revolutions that feels solved a little too easily in the end - but then also is it solved or is it just that the #narrative has to end at a certain point
