𝔹𝕝𝕦𝕣𝕓: Book 3 in the Undeniable series. This series consists of relatively short stories, filled with action and steam, and promises a HEA for the couple. However, the challenges the mafia families are facing end in a (hopefully) HFN - a happy for now - and continue in the next book. The time has come to claim who’s mine. Charlie: I feel like I’m drowning. After my parents were executed, my life crumbled at my feet, and I can’t lose the only family member I have left. Even if it means accepting a seat within the inner circle of the Business, the crime organization I want nothing to do with. Even if it means going on a dangerous mission to earn my seat in their ranks. But when that assignment leads me to a trip down memory lane and I come face-to-face with the guy who used to be my best friend, I know that I’m being challenged to change my life, and regain my strength. I must trust the one man who seems to want to help me. The man who’s claiming my very existence. Samuel: I’m a man with a simple dream: become a martial arts instructor and claim the man I’ve wanted for as long as I can remember. The mysterious boy I worshipped from afar when we were just teenagers, the shy guy who stumbled back into my life when he joined the Business, the broken man I’m now sworn to protect. Charlie’s haunted by nightmares and horrors from his past, terrified of letting anyone in. But he won’t be able to escape me. He was always mine from the beginning. Warning! This book contains non-consensual sex acts, violence, depression/anxiety, and substance abuse. FIERCE is book 3 in the Undeniable series. While it follows a new couple, it is STRONGLY suggested that you read Shameless, book 2 first to have a full understanding of the story. . . . . #fierce #undeniableseries #lolamalonebooks #mmromance #darkromancereads #marchreads #bibliofriends #smutupandread https://www.instagram.com/p/CpSgUUcrj82/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle
Tumblr media
A different kind of feel good read!   Katy is left reeling after the loss of her mother and best friend, Carol. Struggling to understand who she is without her mother and what she wishes to make of her life, she decides to take the Italian vacation she and her mother planned together to Positano. Things take an interesting turn when Katy meets Carol, a thirty-year-old woman, also vacationing in Positano. Carol bears a striking resemblance to Carol, Katy’s late mother, and seems to have a very similar personality and offer similar advice. Katy believes that Carol is actually her mother, somehow miraculously brought back to enjoy this holiday with her. As Katy adventures with Carol and gets to know her more and more, she comes to realize that Carol is in fact the young version of her late mother. And wildly, she is the one in the wrong decade! She has been transported back to 1992! Through these discussions and a fateful trip to Carol’s apartment, Katy realizes she did not know her mother as well as she thought. Will Katy be able to reconcile this new information that she is learned about her mother or will she make a mess of the past and the present?   This was not a breezy read. This was one of those books that helps you work out shit you didn’t even know you were holding onto. I teared up more than once! I do have to add a trigger warning for cancer, death, depression, and abandonment. This was so beautifully done. I truly didn’t know where it would go but it wound up being kind of like The Midnight Library meets The Time Traveler’s Wife. I highly recommend for those in search of a feel good read.   ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ - 4/5

March 22, 2020 || six hours until the @24in48 comes to an end for me and as of right now i have managed to read almost 9 hours but my progress hasn’t been that great 😂 . 🌿finished both Athena (a graphic novel for children) and We Were Villains - i’m still trying to gather my thoughts on it because i enjoyed it but it was also a lacking read. 🌿i decided to stop reading Wolf Hall and, hear me out, i’m gonna restart it. have i gone crazy? probably. why am i doing this? well, i picked it up to read a couple of pages and i realised that since the state of alarm was declared here i have been reading the book without paying much attention to it and i’ve been struggling with it. i wanna give it a fair chance again now that i’m in a better headspace. 🌿lastly, i’m gonna start The Bookish Life of Nina Hill for a light-hearted read. . hope you are having a good sunday! did you participate in the readathon? • • • #stayhome24in48 #athenathestoryofagoddess #ifwewerevillains #wolfhall #thebookishlifeofninahill #bookstagram #unitedbookstagram #bookaesthetic #currentlyreading #readingupdate #marchreads #bookstack #pileofbooks https://www.instagram.com/p/B-Cyh8_o1q4/?igshid=1348rr9c3kim0

I read The Year of Magical Thinking a few months after two people I cared about died in the span of three months. It was April 2017 and despite all the serious shit I could’ve been working through, I was sleeping with a guy who was the absolute worst and exhaustively trying to intercept myself from doing so. There would be more drunk-texts, bar walk-outs and shitty apology gifts, but eventually I did. Almost a year later, my brother would die and I thought about picking up the book again, remembering how precise it had felt to my experience before- but I didn’t. It was less complicated to pick up distractions: long shifts at work, bottles of cab, ect. When I started this spread yesterday, I could see pieces and ideas but no final product in mind and no planned route to get there. So I started sifting through The Year of Magical Thinking where, in the margins and between text, I would find the notes I made in 2017, passages and phrases I had circled, sometimes underlined with scribbles so fervent my fingers must have been imitating a polygraph test. The phrases and passages that were seemingly so relevant to me in 2017, were doubly and eerily so relevant yesterday. Re-examining my notes was like experiencing some relative of Deja Vu. It was not the feeling that I had been here before, but that this younger, less-experienced version of myself somehow knew to underline the intimate and potent details that were pertinent to my brother’s suspended death, more than I can say I knew after the fact, or even know now. Anything Joan Didion has ever published is the shit. She put so much research into this book, she answers questions before you inevitably ask them. Highly reccommendend to anyone who has lost someone in any capacity- so everyone basically. #bookstagram #bibliophile #lifestyleblogger #artjournal #journal #collage #collageart #bulletjournal #junkjournal #journalspread #bujo #bookish #igbooks #marchreads #mirrorselfie #spa #makeupsetup #grafittiart #grafittipier #flowerdoodle #grief #theyearofmagicalthinking (at Graffiti Pier) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9HfLFVAaYa/?igshid=x6tkek73c1po

Greenwich Park by Katherine Faulkner
Tumblr media
A slow build with a shocking but very satisfying finale. Helen’s life seems to be falling perfectly into place. She is married to a successful and handsome architect (Daniel), has a lovely home, and is finally pregnant. What’s more, her brother (Rory) and his wife are also expecting their first baby, the same month as Helen and Daniel. All of that changes the day Helen’s husband backs out of her first prenatal class. Alone, Helen makes pals work Rachel, a single-mother-to-be expecting her first baby the same month as Helen. Rachel seems slightly irresponsible - smoking, drinking alcohol and caffeine, and expressing very little interest in motherhood. Despite what is rational, Helen is drawn into a friendship with Rachel. Rachel quickly expresses erratic behavior such as moving furniture and searching the floorboards of their home. It becomes clear that this friendship is going to lead to the undoing of Helen’s idyllic life. This one started off very slow. It all seemed a bit bizarre and random until about a third of the way through. Then it was rapid fire. I love Helen’s inquisitive nature and her persistence. Also, Katie is a kickass friend and we all need a friend like her in our lives. I highly recommend this for those who enjoy: mystery, thriller, mindf*ck, revenge, and slow burn! ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ - 4.5/5
