[warning: Enstars brainrot is back after a whole year, I still ramble like a nerd, spoilers for Raison d'être event story]

I have resurrected my enstars obsession and I found myself fated to dissect Valkyrie's intriguing songs once again, as it seems their relationship has progressed much since last time I had checked on them. This is one going to be elaborate since the song is heavily tied to the event story Raison d'être and to the stage performance which is filled with plenty of symbolism.

The title of the song, Le temps des fleurs, which translates to "The time of the flowers", could be a reference to the infamous french song from the late 60s with the same title. The original song sung by Dalida directly derives from a russian romance song and depicts the tale of a woman who misses her lover and commemorates the time when they were together, young and carefree.
This is important to note once we provide context from the event story.
*:・゚✧* Raison d'être *:・゚✧*
In the event Raison d'être, which translates to "reason for being", a common french expression, we discover Shu's grandfather wishes to hold a live funeral and turns its preparation into a competition between the other family members. He creates a rather elaborate scenario in order for Shu to uncover the truth about his youthful days in France. Shu's succesful deduction, with Mika's help, enables him to prepare an opera for the funeral.
But Valkyrie had decided to partially cover the truth from the rest of the family in the narration of the opera. Thus, the story birthed actually ends up as an allegory for the relationship Mika and Shu have. (That is why, I will refer to the characters in the story by whom they represent)
Shu, a foreign student in France, passed by a mansion covered in roses and sighted through the window Mademoiselle, whom he fell in love with. Each time he had seen her, he fell deeper and deeper, ending up entering the mansion, unable to contain his feelings.
To his dismay, the beautiful woman he had fallen in love with turned out to be just a life-sized doll.
But the story isn't simply just that. In the mansion was also, of course, a dollmaker, Mika, who had modelled Mademoiselle after his appearance in women's clothes. Deeply moved by Shu's devotion, who had been sending love letters and had been whispering his love in the night, Mika had fallen in love with him, only having been accustomed with the solitude of his own mansion up until then.
But since the discovery of Mademoiselle's true nature, Shu had fallen depressed. Mika decided to dress up in women's clothing and warmly recognise the man's feelings.

"I love you"
Mika thought it would end up as a heartfelt, passing moment and their lives would fall back into monotony. But Shu's wishes had just become true — the woman he loved had loved him back.
Since then, he had visited the mansion time and time again. Everytime there was a knock at the door, Mika would hurringly put his women's clothes and makeup on.
This concludes the first act, a comedic tale about the tumultuous existance of a same-sex relationship in a time that wasn't very accepting of it. (As stated by Shu himself)
The second act is an epilogue of the events. Shu had gone back to Japan to fulfill the duties of his family, but promised himself he'd reunite with Mademoiselle. Years later, upon his return, the mansion of roses had decayed, the flowers withering. The only thing left was an inscription on the walls, written in red as if it were fresh blood:
「 Je t'aime 」
"I love you"

Instictually, you'd think that the roles of the story should be reversed. Since Mademoiselle is an extension of Shu, and Mika is a devout follower of Shu as an artist, wouldn't it make more sense for Shu to be the dollmaker and for Mika to be the foreign student?
That is clarified by the diverse use of the pronoun "I" in japanese throughout the retelling of the story by Shu and Mika. When talking about the foreign student, they use "boku", the pronoun version Shu usually uses. The dollmaker, instead, uses "ore", the pronoun version Mika uses. With that in mind and a little thought put into it, you'd see the pieces falling into place.
The first act depicts the relationship Mika and Shu had up until that point. Shu had fallen in love with Mika, the marionette, but the events of Valkyrie made him realise Mika being a mere marionette in his eyes was inhumane — it wasn't real love, but a devout admiration. Mika, though, had proven himself, slow and steady, to be a real human with free-will, wishes and ambitions, in front of the person he loved — an equal. Thus, Shu could truly love the person he only dreamed of loving previously because love can only really bloom between two equals.
The second act depicts Shu's fears about their future. At the beginning of the event story, he reveals he had already prepared a room for Mika to live in Paris so they will continue their lives together. When Mika told him about wanting to remain in Japan after graduation to maintain Valkyrie , Shu spirals out of control, betrayed and fearful. In his eyes, Mika refused maintaining, or even strenghtening, their relationship. In the opera, that is what Shu imagines would happen if they remain separated; one day, Shu would not find Mika waiting for him, having dissapeared from his life, their love withering.
Unlike the opera, we will discover the song, Le temps des fleurs, "ties the knot" of their thread of troubles and feelings.

In the stage background is depicted the Eiffel Tower to represent where the story takes place, in Paris. This coincides with the city where Mika and Shu sort out their feeling about their future.
Mistakably compared to a marionette, those blue eyes seem vacant
As this foreign romance spun with a stranger begins to close
Wayfaring through an illusion, traversing on streets of stone
Wandering, endlessly, like melting wax dripping in diurnal rhythms
The two commemorate the circumstances of their early relationship, Shu mistaking Mika, a masterful artist, for a mere marionette, leading to a temporary love that couldn't truly exist this way, that melts with each passing day under the sun rays.
The night burns into the dawn, and the heart that yearns without reward
Has long since overlapped
Even if it’s the same as the breeze, that blows through in its flurry of gales
Even if Shu finds out the truth, that love for a doll can't be truly love, he still holds onto it despite all the misfortunes that have come his way, mainly the rough days of Valkyrie. His love for Mika was a "breeze", a gentle wind, in the midst the despair reminiscent of a "flurry of gales", a circular mass of strong winds that entrapped him.
In the MV, during this part, Shu and Mika hold hands and sway together as they sing. It is a crucial moment since (from my knowledge so correct me if I'm wrong) Mika and Shu haven't made such heartfelt gestures on stage before. It highlights how the songs have gradually become more concentrated on themselves, rather than Valkyrie talking to the audience like in the past.

It shall remain as a single song
Sear that gorgeous splendor onto each other’s hearts
As this beloved shadowed silhouette[1]
Turns this into a phantasm tale
From the story of the opera written by the two, we can conclude that flowers represent love. Paris, the city of flowers in this case, is also the city of romance.
Even if their feelings seemed impossible of becoming reality because of the rather troubled beginning of their relationship, their strenght had led the two to believe it is possible to achieve, "even on the wayside". They would even accept it even if it were just a passing moment, "a single song", as long as it was real and satiatied their desires by "searing that gorgeous splendor on each other's hearts". When the moment of love would cease to exist, if it ever does, they believe it will be immortalized in their memory as a "phantasm tale", thus having no regret ever experiencing it.
During this moment, the MV background switches to the Temple of Love on the grounds of the Palace of Versailles. The choreography in front of this place dedicated to the women "loved" by the french royalty[2] is also very suggestive of the ignition of romantic feelings. Mika and Shu reach out their arms to each other's hearts as the camera focuses on their shared gazes during the moment. Not long after, the camera focuses on their hands as they join together in front of the Temple of Love, signifying their romantic union.

[1] The original translation on the fan wiki says "silhouettier", which is a word I couldn't find on any online dictionaries. I will assume they meant "silhouette", like other translations.
[2] The factuality of that statement could be debatable, but I am no expert in the matter, nor is it the focus of my point.

Even if we cling onto such ridiculous prayers
The feeling of hopelessness will never disappear, will it?
In that case, let’s leave the meaning of our encounter behind
As we change the regalia belonging to coincidence and fate
In this verse, they seem to be voicing each other's perception of their new relationship.
Shu is still on the edge about their future, as seen especially at the beginning of the event story. Despite both of them having shared such devotion for each other, he cannot help but feel hopeless that it would all end at any step.
Mika recognizes this and keeps looking forward, wanting Shu to adopt the same way of thinking. He has also been the first push that had led to the rehabilitation of Valkyrie, with the help of his faith in his mentor and the love he harbors for him. In this verse, it is also suggested that Shu isn't quite over their relationship during the ex-Valkyrie, thus the source of his hopelessness. It is also evident in the event story when he keeps mentioning Mika had become a human, probably fearful they would regress to their past dynamic.
Some things are unforgivable
Rather than grieving over those sins
Shall we dance the night away instead?
As I reach out my hand to you
And for you to look back at me
They seem to accept their irredeamable past that had led them to the present moment. If it meant reaching that point where they could share their love, "dance the night away", reach out their hands and look back at each other, it was worth it.
Is it possible to worry about the destination of an endless dream?
Even if it’s something that is not finite in nature
Let’s keep it forever, the shine that lasts only in this world
As we are sought and lured by each other
While having our souls turn into a phantasm tale
Unlike the love for a marionette that would melt with each passing day, this love, the love of an equal, is an "endless dream" and "not finite in nature". This current love that they share is more important that their "destination", meaning that they shouldn't worry about the future, which they did at the beginning of the event story, since their love would triumph even against time. This act of being "lured by each other" is compassionate enough to not just dissapear, get immortalized in their memory as in the first chorus, but instead the devotion for each other would be the one to immortalize them as lovers of a "phantasm tale".

Before the bridge commences, the background of the MV becomes pure white, turning Mika and Shu into mere silhouettes. The atmosphere is heavy. When they try to reach out for each other, they miss each other's embrace, unable to look back at one another. This could represent the moments when they feel lost during their relationship, an example being the opening scene of the event story.

Even if it’s worn and arenaceous
If you lift its casing, its contents will overflow
So even if time is bound, the shades and chromes will still remain
Painting the future in a blinding iridescence
Each verse of the first three is split in half between the two, representing a separation, but proving that, despite the circustances, they share the same feelings about their relationship.
Even if their love is "worn and arenaceous", almost on the brink of dying, "if you lift its casing", its coffin's lid , it will prove to be as strong as ever, "overflowing". Even if their love will die out, its impact will leave an imprint on their lives.
In the final verse, their voices join and their gazes meet. The conclusion is that, no matter the outcome, their love would brighten their future with "a blinding iridescence". Stripping themselves of the worries about both past and future, by embracing the present moment of their love, they have freed themselves.
In the background, the Arch of Triumph is revealed and the stage is filled with blooming flowers, a symbol of their love as established earlier. Then, the second[1] chorus begins.

[1] It is the third chorus if we talk about the entire song. But since this chorus mirrors the first one, it would be more suggestive to call it the second one, like it is in the MV.
O city of flowers, the entire town itself is wrapped in your love
Even the days that passes on by has bloomed and scattered
Let this continue to reverberate forevermore inside each other’s hearts
As this beloved shadowed silhouette
Manifests for this very reason to make you dance
Alongside this song of love, this song of love
The choreography is the same as the one in front of the Temple of Love. If the first time it was about the reciprocity of their feelings that had no clear duration, this time it is the confidence that they are eternal. Mika and Shu are victorious in their love's battle against time and, once again, can reach out for their hearts, look back at each other and join hands.
The final statement is made as their love is finally triumphant over all the hardships Valkyrie had to endure. Their love is so radient, "the entire town itself is wrapped" in it. Even if these moments of love, which have bloomed, would "scatter" in the past, they believe their feelings would keep "reverberating forevermore inside each other's hearts". The song ends with the acknowledgement of its true nature, it being a "song of love".
The MV ends with Mika and Shu looking into each other's eyes, arms ready to reach one another, but far enough to not yet be touching each other — for it is only the first step in their true relationship. The camera pans to Shu's face who, usually, doesn't allow for his affectionate side to surface easily, lovingly looking at Mika.

On a final note, it is really important to mention the outfits. There could be many interpretations for the split appearance of them: funeral and marriage, shadow and light, masculinity and femininity. Either way it may be, the outfits themselves represent union. If in the past, for example in "Eternal Weaving", Mika and Shu were distinguished by a certain symbol, like shadow and light, through their love, they have attained balance. It is both a funeral and a celebration of love. The clothes are the recognition that the lovers are both composed of light and shadow and that they complete one another. They are a symbol about appearance and essence, where one half is seen by the world (Shu in a tuxedo, strong and independent; Mika in a dress, soft and innocent) and the other only by the lovers (Shu in a dress beause he is quite emotional and compassionate; Mika in a tuxedo because he is strong-willed and would do anything for their hapiness together).
In the silence that follows, we can only have faith their love would prevail over anything in their way of looking into each other's longing eyes.

PLEASE SOMEONE LISTEN WHAT IF
“The Moon Will Sing” is ABOUT A PARENT
Note 1: this is in no way supposed to be definitive, it is my interpretation as someone who relates heavily to the song in this context
Note 2: this interpretation is in no way, shape, or form trying to say that the way the singer depicts her relationship with her parents in this song is indicative of her relationship with her parents in real life. It is not my place, nor anyone else’s, to speculate about how accurate this song is to her personal life. Though my wording may seem as though I am talking about the singer’s actual relationship with her parents, I mean it strictly in the context of the song. We must all respect the artist’s privacy.
“Tell me once again, I could’ve been anyone anyone else, before you made the choice for me”
The singer is expressing her disbelief that her whole fate was practically determined by her parents, that she could’ve been so much different if they didn’t mold her to be a certain way
“My feet knew the path we walked in the dark… I never gave a single thought to where it might lead”
The singer was unaware of the path her parent was taking her and was kept in the dark about what the steps her parents told her to take would lead. The fact that she ‘never gave a single thought’ implies naïveté that is consistent with an exceptionally young child blindly following their parents instructions
“All those empty rooms, we could have been anywhere… else, instead I made a bed with apathy”
The ‘empty rooms’ could be a reference to the unfurnished facets of her life that her parents may have forced her to leave empty in pursuit of ‘furnishing’ other ‘rooms’ (I.e. they won’t let her explore music because she needs to focus on grades). The bed of apathy likely means that she had become too tired to debate or fight back, that she opted for inaction and acceptance of her parents’ molding for the sake of ease and because she was too tired from working on furnishing these rooms to do anything besides continue the cycle.
“My heart knew the weight, ten years worth of dust and neglect, we made our peace with weariness and let it be”
This could be saying that the tiredness the singer expresses formerly exists in her parents as well, that everyone is just too tired to address any issues within their families. I would like to note that, while not explicitly stated, this may be referencing ‘The Hand that Feeds’ where her father was established to “work all his days.”
“The moon will sing a song for me, I loved you like the sun, bore the shadows that you made with no light of my own, I shine only with the light you gave me…”
THE WHOLE VERSE IS SO FIRE OMG ANYWAYS The singer is expressing how she relates to the moon due to the way it is completely dépendant on the sun for its light. In the same way, she may be saying that she feels as though all the goodness or impressive qualities are only the result of her parents’ light. In other words, sheath be expressing a deep-seated fear that she is not quite fully a new person, rather just a combination of her parents and/or their actions
“Name your courage now”
Her parents may, in her adult life, be boasting about how good they were to her when she was a child. However, it is only putting a name to ‘courage’ that ultimately may have done more harm than good or have just been the bare minimum
“We could have had anything else, instead you hoarded all that’s left of me”
Now we’re getting into a new facet of the relationship with the parents! It seems that they also were overbearing in some way, stopping the singer from getting the experiences or friends she wanted.
“Swallowing your doubt, like swords to the pit of my belly”
She seems to be internalizing her parents’ cynicism and/or criticism and allowing that to mold her. It seems her parents not trusting her hurts her a lot, meaning she places a lot of emphasis on their approval/trust, which is supported by the first verse
“I want to feel the fire that you kept from me!”
In the story of Prometheus, the god steals fire from Mount Olympus to give to humans and gets punished for it. The reason this may be important is because the Crane Wives are no strangers to referencing folklore (look at the explanation behind their name). We can reasonably assume that they are acknowledging the double-faceted nature of fire that the myth of Prometheus displays. Fire is something that gives advancement, the basis of early and modern technology as well as a major way our world consumes energy. It also provides light and warmth, as well as an opportunity for rebirth (look at why forest fires are beneficial for forests). At the same time, fire is the great consumer, it spreads and burns as it goes, leaving ash in its wake. The Prometheus story not only references the consequences of bringing such a force to mortals, but also why Prometheus thought it was important to risk himself for. In this lyric, the singer references a fire that was kept from her, which from the previous discussion we can reasonably assume includes both the growth fire brings and the destruction it causes. I’m other words, I believe this lyric is saying that the singer desires for both sides of life, growth and harm, that her parents ‘protected’ her from.

A very poorly worded and formatted second post about all the FUTCT lyrics that I personally interpret as being about self destructive internalized homophobia and compiled into my interpretation of lore because I have an obsession with doomed yaoi apparently. Click here for first part!

continuing to feel more and more depressed about having to hide his relationships to the point of suicide the guy being the only place he feels comfortable ("youre the only place that feels like home") but never wanting to tell him because it could ruin things ("just so you know youll never know" in reference to his intense feelings about him)
trying to decide if it would be better to come out, but deciding against it, so instead becoming depressed again

mentioning his extensive lyrics about his secret relationship, and the lies hes told and feeling like hes the only one whose done this
continuing to not want to confront his own conscience and continuing to push it away
hiding behind walls of arrogancy as a means to try and protect his heart as he feels the guy doesn't care about him the same way he cares about him

"dousing himself in cheap perfume" in reference to hooking up with a bunch of girls as a cover up to his relationship, but still feeling like hes unable to hide it forever
saying its incredibly fitting that he now constantly smells like cheap perfume, as a homophobic dig at himself

trying to move past his feelings for the guy (what he "left") and live his life in his own protective shell (what he "has") but still missing himself intensely to the point it feels like hes dying

feeling borrowed and used by the guy from previous encounters feeling like a cheap hookup

saying that they'll never live this down because neither of them will ever be able to move past eachother

wishing that one of them would just give him up and stop allowing him to use her as a coverup (the boy whose had too many chances) because he knows he wont be able to stop by himself so he dreams of her telling him to basically fuck off

hating how the guy makes him feel but knowing he can't blame him, because they both have to make sacrifices (namely, hooking up with girls) to coverup their relationship
encouraging him to get in relationships with girls as a coverup but hating it anyways and ending up jealous

more women giving up on their relationships with him because they all end up realizing hes a lost cause and clearly not over someone, and while they dont know who it is, they dont want to stick around for it
he knows hes a disaster, but he doesn't try to hide it ("what did you expect")

making sure to put on a show for them so they have something to cover, trying to enforce his heterosexuality as much as possible

neither boy can be mad, because they both knew this would happen and they never stood a chance at actually being happy together
trying to play it off as if it doesn't matter, but hes still obsessed with the guy and unable to move on, contributing to his own pain

realizing this whole relationship and all the fake relationships hes had in the past were all some sort of self inflicted torture, but that the tabloids don't care nearly as much as either boy thought they would
now that his secrets out, he has to directly confront his own mind and internalized homophobia, which is an incredibly struggle

once again talking about his obsession for this guy, and how much of his life is consumed by this guy now
wishing they could go back to being in the closet ("in the dark lying on top of you") and implying that was what made the relationship work ("you'd like boys like me better doing this specific thing which we cant go back to doing anymore because people know") so that he wouldn't have to confront his feelings and could keep surpressing them

mentioning how since the start of the relationship hes wanted to go public but been unable to, as it was his worst fear
now that his secrets out, he starts self torturing in new ways, rebranding his depression of being in the closet to depression of being out of the closet (putting a new address on the same loneliness - his queerness, because the location has changed from in the closet to out of the closet)
realizing trying to dispell the rumors and stories arent worth the time or effort and becoming increasingly more and more depressed and contemplating death ("talkings a waste of breathe" + "livings a waste of death")
clinging on to the relationship until everything else fails around him desperately

finding him in a crowd at a concert full of songs hes written about the guy
talking about going from being ashamed and lying about the relationship (closing his eyes to block out his shame and crossing his fingers) to pledging full heartedly to the guy ("i swear") because his lyrics are an outlet for him and hes trying to process

essentially just referencing their various hookups and the trust they had in eachother to a certain degree (the keys to his car but never his house)

referencing their old hookups (his "love") and how he would shut off his mind, much like hiding a bible in a drawer, because both were doing nothing but shame him for being with this guy
saying both the bible and his conscience never did much for him anyways
trying to force this guy to love him ("love never wanted me, but i took it anyways"), when all he really felt towards him was sympathy at best, so the guy ended up leaving

still being obsessed with him, he wishes he would come back and blames his problems on him
finally recognizing that since the beginning of the relationship, all this guy has ever caused for him is heartbreak

still being in love with this guy despite the harm caused by him, and keeping up with his relationships through tabloids and such ("through the keyhole i watched you dress" is him grasping at any information about his love life he can possible garner from such small sources of information)
realizing the relationship is thoroughly ruined and theres nothing he can ever do to fix it
TL;DR
The writer hooks up with another guy, and despite his internalized homophobia starts to feel some intense feelings towards said guy, while said guy feels nothing towards him. To keep up appearances, they both hook up with girls publicly, but continue their relationship in private. This starts making the writer incredibly depressed, as he continues falling more in love but struggles more with his internalized homophobia and how this could affect both his and the guys career if ever made public. Eventually it is made public and people don't see it as nearly half as big a deal as the boys thought they would, but now the writer is forced to confront his own internalized homophobia, and the fact that his feelings towards the guy aren't reciprocated, and move on past them.

Hi Marte! How do you interpret the line from All Along ‘I wish I met you later’? Do you think HL struggled to stay in a serious relationship in the beginning? Possibly they didn’t feel mature at so young age to see that they are soulmates and not be interested to try smth different?
Hi, anon!
I'm not in the habit of interpreting or analysing lyrics, actually. Lyrics can mean different things to different people and it was written to be that way. So to me this is a pointless exercise. I'll indulge you though by presenting some alternatives;
Emotional immaturity - not being equipped at a young age to deal with a serious relationship and/or understanding the value of that kind of relation.
Emotional unavailability - not being in a position where you can devote the time, love and affection to a person like they deserve. Could be for different reasons; already being in a relationship, unexplored sexuality or inner demons.
Wrong priorities - finding the one, but being young and wanting to explore and conquer, before settling down later (and letting that ship sail before realising it was a mistake)
Closeting - Knowing you've met the one but you’re closeted and know you can’t be (openly) together like you'd want to right now. (See also H and L "Wouldn't it be nice" interview.)
Could be some of these, all of these or none of these.
No, i don't think H and L struggled to be in a relationship. I think they had loads of forces wanting them apart that they fought tooth and nail to not let it affect them. Sony wish they'd make a dent in that relationship, but they couldn’t. No matter how hard they tried.
I do, however, think L struggled to understand how incredibly lucky he was to find his soulmate at 18 years old and appreciate it enough at the time. Not everyone makes a connection as rare like the one H and L have ever in their life. Other people realising it and valuing it (read larries) may have helped him in understanding how precious and rare his relationship is. The things they've endured have made them stonger too. He probably looks back at the two of them as teenagers and how naive they both probably were at the time. How little they knew of the world, the pressure and the value of what they'd found in each other.

"Is It Really You" and it's place in Sleep Token's discography
Okay so firstly, the three part thing about the trilogy will happen and hopefully start next week, I did not have enough time for it yet though (was busy seeing Sleep Token live) and I really want to be precise on that one so I’m sorry! <3
Anyhow, this time I want to talk about Is It Really You. Before any of you tell me “It’s just a cover”, your mom is just a cover (respectfully). Yes, it is a cover song but let’s have a look at it’s placement in the discography. The song came out between TPWBYT and TMBTE, meaning if we listen to the discography in chronological order, the last song before IIRY is Missing Limbs, the next one would be Chokehold. Now what do we do with this information? Looking at Missing Limbs, we have a song that deals (or at least could deal) with the speaker loving someone that has been through traumatic experiences. They want to love that person, yet the emotional pain makes it unbearable. “I live like I’ve got missing limbs for you” shows us how the speaker tries to help their loved one through the pain but feel themselves getting lost in this attempt. This is obviously not THE one interpretation for Missing Limbs (rule nr.1 in literature class: there is no definitive right or wrong) but I want to use this interpretation in an attempt to look at IIRY. I believe the cover continues the story started in Missing Limbs at the point where the loved one is no longer around. The speaker seems to reflect on the past relationship, understanding it wasn’t good for either of them. “Deal with the pain, your own way [...] I knew that it was mine too” shows us how the speaker is aware of how the struggles of their former partner affected them as well. Now, I hear you. “Why on earth is Chokehold the next song then?” I feel Chokehold might be the attempt to start over, sort of ignore the past and move on. However we can see the speaker circle back to the old feelings in the course of TMBTE, literally just think about Are You Really Okay? Of course there is a chance Vessel just wanted to cover a song he liked, however I do believe that the covers can be seen as meaningful parts of the discography.

Fortnight - lyric analysis and interpretation
"I was supposed to be sent away, but they forgot to come and get me"
The opening lines convey a sense of abandonment and neglect. The narrator is feeling overlooked. Possibly referring to a time when she expected a significant life change or an intervention that never occurred.
"I was a functioning alcoholic 'til nobody noticed my new aesthetic"
She is dealing with her issues in silence or changing in ways that those around her are unaware of. Her problems (or alcoholism) have been managed well enough that they do not interfere with her daily life to the point where others do not notice the change in her behavior or appearance.
"All this to say, I hope you're okay, but you're the reason"
In this line, she addresses someone directly, conveying a complex sentiment that includes both well-wishing and acknowledging the hurt or betrayal this person caused.
"And no one here's to blame, but what about your quiet treason?"
Suggests that, while no one is directly responsible for the fallout, there is an underlying betrayal that she cannot ignore.
"And for a fortnight there, we were forever, run into you sometimes, ask about the weather"
A fleeting moment or relationship that appeared timeless or destined to last but ultimately did not. There has been a shift toward more distant and possibly awkward interactions, with all the previous intimacy reduced to small talk.

this is just my speculation and i highly doubt it is accurate but its just my opinion :')

typically, couples call each other baby as an affectionate gesture (or at least someone close.) shes somewhat forcing the person shes talking about to call her baby. convincing them to be loving with her.

mitski is betting on a "losing dog", the losing dog in this context may be a failing relationship? she knows that she'll lose her money by betting on this "dog", and yet, mitski bets anyway. maybe betting on this "dog" is the only way she can cope with her crumbling relationship with this person. (somewhat how people drink and gamble as a way to numb something?? maybe im stretching it)
"Where I'll be looking in their eyes when they're down I'll be there on their side I'm losing by their side"
once again, mitski is betting on a dog, and when it loses she looks "it" in the eyes. coming to terms with how she cannot save her relationship. again, trying to numb the inevitable.
"Will you let me, baby, lose On losing dogs"
she asks her baby, her partner, permission to try and save her relationship though she knows its too late. she knows that this dog will lose no matter how much money she bets on it.
"I wanna feel it I bet on losing dogs I always want you when I'm finally fine"
her trying to feel anything left from her relationship? shes once again counting on something that she knows will inevitably fail. the last line doesnt make sense to me?? maybe like how a dog is extremely loyal to their master even if they hurt it (not all dogs but yk)
"How you'd be over me looking in my eyes when I come Someone to watch me die"
before she becomes the dog, i guess her lover would look in the "dogs" eyes before the fight starts? that line seems like mitski is switching her perspective from the better to the "dog" itself. whatever dog loses in dog fights.. usally gets put down or killed..
why would mitski narrate herself as the dog instead of the person betting on it? at least im pretty sure shes trying to convince they still love her, hence how she asks them to call her their baby. again, how shes betting on "losing dogs", willing to put her money into something she knows won't work in the end, sort of trying to hold onto the last bit of hope i guess??
in a way, i relate to this song. or at least, my interpretation of it. i find myself counting on things or people even if i know they they wont fully stick around

lucky again interpretation
even though life is too busy at the moment, i wanted to post my interpretation of lucky again because im absolutely obsessed with this song right now and i need to get it out.
overall, to me this song feels like him talking to his younger self, specifically when he was in 1D, how he lost himself but worked towards finding himself and is now back to his true self again.
1st verse: "you give and give until it's gone away, just tell yourself you've got another day" - he starts off with these lines as an allusion to how he presumably gave the most of himself to the band, writing those many songs by pouring out all his emotions till he might've felt emotionally drained but telling himself he has another day to catch his breath, to get a break.
"you've lived that life, you just don't see it yet, i see how hard you've worked to be yourself" - current louis telling his younger self that he has lived that superstar life and did the insane level of hard work that superstars do but it might be difficult to see then as it all felt very surreal being in the band and being thrust to this level of fame so fast.
pre chorus: "if you believe a guy is Superman, they're selling tickets at the cinema, whatever gets you through the darkest night, just find the light out in the madness, hold tight" - fav lyrics from the song!! but also, this para sort of stumps me a little. from i could gather, it looks younger louis might've believed some guy is the "saviour" (like how superheroes are supposed to be saving people), so he tries to go see him. but maybe he was wrong (note the use of 'if' and 'whatever', used as a tone of dismissal to that previous belief of the guy being some sort of a true helping hand). or i feel it could also be about how louis likes/d marvel/dc and this para could be referring to how it was so mad being in the band, he found someone who he thought of as superman in his head, just to ground him, even though he probably knew it wasn't true. but he needed that false belief to hold on and get himself through the darkest nights of madness.
chorus: "'cause I'm a hard man to lose, but i figured it out, then made my way back to a life I would choose, we werе lucky once, i could be lucky again" - this feels about how he lost sight of himself as an artist after 1D which was hard for him as up until then he probably had a sense of identity regarding everything he did including songwriting in 1D and leading 1D. louis has also mentioned similar sentiments in many interviews after the 1D hiatus and during walls release. he then goes on tell his younger self that he figured out how to come back to the life he wants (to make the kind of music he wants to, go on tour, play the venues that he wants to, sing his own songs to his fans). he is also telling his younger self that they (current and younger louis) were lucky to have had the opportunity of being in 1D (and thus hard launching his career) but he could also be lucky again (with his solo career to have a similar amount of love from fans). the last line of the chorus makes me sob.
2nd verse: "beforе the world, it got so serious; before the time, it got away from us i'll meet you at the favourite subway stop; we grab some food, then meet the lads for one" - his world got serious as he went from being a high school student in a small town to being in the biggest boy band of the decade. louis felt the time getting away from him, slipping through his fingers as he grew up in the haze of being in the public eye (he has similar themes of being afraid of growing up, of change in other songs and interviews). current louis wants to meet the louis he was (before all of the above happened) at his favourite subway stop to just grab some food, take a breath, and probably meet his childhood buddies for one beer (ties in to how he references pubs and night out with his lads in other songs). (the subway stop might have been a hangout spot with his friends and could have a lot of fun pre-fame memories attached, hence "favourite").
"i'm a hard man to find, but you figured it out and I love you for that look back on a time; i was lucky once, i could be lucky again" - the final two lines are almost identical to the lines in the chorus, but with some changes. current louis seems to assure his younger self that was lost that he figured it out and found himself, for which he loves him (himself?). for me, the last line further solidifies this theory of current and past louis for me as he says "look back on a time" = 1D; AND he finally changes the "WE" to "I" in the line "i was lucky once" as throughout the song it seems to progress through his career. like he started from 1D in verse 1 by giving it all, to feeling lost after the band in verse 2 to reaching this stage where his current and past selves meet. i sort of imagine past him walking through the stages of his life and merging with his current self as a form of self acceptance and acknowledgement of everything he has lived through. and lastly, now that the two are one, he refers to himself, current or past, as just "I" (instead of "we"), saying that since he was lucky once, he could be lucky again.
also, his soft voice in the whole song could be how he is talking gently to his past self who current louis knows how lost he is feeling.
anyways, this was soooo long but yeah. love fitf so much and i literally cannot stop playing ever since it came out!!

VALKYRIE - ETERNAL WEAVING

Before I let myself indulge in this nerdy analysis of the song of my favourite Enstars unit, I have to outspeak for the detail and dedication the creators put into Valkyrie and Shu's character. The language, the references in Vakyrie songs portray Shu and his vision spledid. They really worked hard to maintain the image of an art obsessed eccentric, while still morphing his character development into refined shape.

Now with the actual analysis
(I'm going to use the fanwiki translation as a source)
[Mika] - green
[Shu] - pink
[Mika and Shu] - blue

"A living soul, veiled with a lump of clay
Is blessed with a miracle. Let us begin here."
Mika is talking about himself, a puppet whose creator and saviour is Shu, the leader of Valkyrie.
"Singing glories of a king carved out of stone
I wonder if our anguish can be heard from afar."
Shu's past self is the king carved out of stone. Glorious and unshakable, untouchable, unchangeable. Unlike clay, which can be easily shaped into form, stone is resilient and hard to sculpt and reshape. It symbolizes Shu's narcissistic and proud persona, but also the fact that people reaching out to him wasn't enough, it was necessary for a humiliating failure to open his eyes and realize his mistakes.
"Fairytales, each distorted by time
Are old myths torn asunder and rewritten."
Valkyrie was going to reborn and for that to happen, the tragic past had to be left behind, Valkyrie to be "torn asunder" (Nazuna had to leave) and "rewritten" not as Shu's scheme, but as Shu and Mika's unit. Notice how "rewritten" is sung by both of them, despite Shu having a strong voice to end the verse. Just like Valkyrie, together, it would just be stronger and more mesmerizing.
[Chorus] "In an eternity that never ends, all things progress without halting."
At first glance, the phrase "eternity that never ends" might seem like a pleonasm, but it is purposefully sung so. The old Valkyrie seemed immortal, eternal, but it came to a crumble and a miserable downfall. Yet, it evolved, it came back stronger than ever, it progressed from the "eternity with an end" people might have assumed about Valkyrie after its tragedy.
"Now please, show me your eyes painted with delight."
Shu is addressing Mika, who has a high insecurity of his heterochromia. Thus, Shu is asking, not demanding, but saying "please" and asking for Mika to trust him. Shu wants to be Mika's comfort zone and be the one to preserve the delight in those eyes, Mika's happiness. In a metaphorical perspective, since the eyes are the gateways to the soul, Shu is asking Mika to be his true self around him, to not act according to Shu's "string pulls" anymore.
"From the cradle of the world tumbles and scatters;
Tears that are nothing but reflections of color,
Used only to weave a
Tapestry"
After the old Valkyrie's fall and inevitable crumble, the members had to endure much sorrow. The "tears" later on became "reflections of color", inspiration for the future reborn Valkyrie and motivation to weave Valkyrie, like a tapestry. We'll later on see the tapestry imagery continue.
Shu is known for being a master at sewing and likes using references into Valkyrie songs, this being the case too. "Weaving is a method of textile production in which two distinct sets of yarns or threads are interlaced at right angles to form a fabric or cloth." The 2 distinct threads, we will later on find one what are they, are used to reconstruct Valkyrie from its remains.
Furthermore, to weave, when it comes to stories, means to make complex connections. Thus, Valkyrie is a story which underwent many struggles and sorrows, many obstacles and much work.
"We adorn glamorous clothing, becoming nobility the moment
this comedy threads through the weft"
"Tapestry is weft-faced weaving, in which all the warp threads are hidden in the completed work, unlike most woven textiles, where both the warp and the weft threads may be visible." The old Valkyrie is the warp, as its decay let the current Valkyrie shine in all its might.
Compared to the current Valkyrie, the old Valkyrie has become a comedy, an act of aesthetics at the point of faking its genuinity. But Shu still recognizes the old Valkyrie as the backbone of Valkyrie's tapestry.
"The crumbling eternity of this nightmare entwines
with tragedy, strained into warps."
If for Shu, the old Vakyrie was a masquerade incomparable to the artistic heights of the current Valkyrie, for Mika it was "grotesque", a fuel for both his low self-esteem and his adoration for his unit. The tragedy of the old Valkyrie was a true nightmare, as Valkyrie and Shu were everything to him. Even so, he recognizes that the crumbling of Valkyrie is vital to uphold the present Valkyrie.
"As you submerge into that hot bath, let the vision of
A storyteller’s evanesced reality that we created fly free"
Shu and Mika are now addressing the audience to submerge into Valkyrie's story, one that one day will turn from reality to only a legend. "that we created" is sung together, once again, to portray their unity.
[Chorus] "In an eternity that never comes to an end, ideations evolve."
Same as the last chorus :)
"Let us join our embroidering together, misery cupped in our hands."
Mika is conscious that the current Valkyrie can only be embroidered into shape from the misery of their previous fall. That sorrow is an opportunity to arise, and shares it with both Shu and the audience, pain is nothing to be shameful about. They are willing to turn it into art.
"The ephemeral birth of that palace is
A delightful fever dream."
The old Valkyrie has always been meant to be ephemeral, and Shu knows that. He uses contradictory terms to express his feelings for the unit that once Valkyrie was, "delightful" for the great artistic achievements it has reached and a "fever dream" because he knows the suffering it has brought Nazuna and Mika and he deeply regrets it.
"「I am but a fool that struggles within the sorrow and rapture of this mire.」"
The introduction to the theater style monologue is highlighting the true feelings of the speaker, not through a song, not Mika as an idol, but Mika as himself. Mika has very low self-esteem, can't see his worth, his talent. He thinks himself not even worthy as a human, but as a marionette to be directed around as he suffers in his own sorrows.
"「Nay, your handwoven tales are a beauty desired by Epicurus himself!」"
Continuing with the addressed monologue, Shu displays his true feelings. He is hurt to hear Mika speak so poorly of himself. He wants Mika to know he is worthy, he is desired, by Epicurus himself. But why desired by Epicurus specifically?
"For Epicurus, the purpose of philosophy was to help people attain a happy (eudaimonic), tranquil life characterized by ataraxia (peace and freedom from fear) and aponia (the absence of pain)." Knowing Shu's character, the reason why he became an abuser of power in Ensemble Stars!, we can certainly deduce that when referring to Epicurus, Shu is referring to himself. "Epicurus advocated that people were best able to pursue philosophy by living a self-sufficient life surrounded by friends." By associating himself with Epicurus, Shu wants Mika to know that he is an admirable individual and wants to pursue his art and live his life alongside him.
"「O’Light! Why will you not cease creating!」
「O’Shadow! It is because that is precisely what you demand of me, and it is precisely that which makes you human!」"
Mika can't see his worth, his potential, his beauty. Why would the Light(Shu) keeping casting him(Shadow/Mika)? Shu knows in his heart that Mika wants to be worthy, wants to be in the spotlight and have his art shown to the world. As much as Mika is willing to give up, Shu won't cease to try to achieve their dream together. Because Mika having a dream means that he is his own person, not a marionette.
The shadow can't exist without light. Light can't truly exist without shadow, either.
"「We wish to bestow the beauty of art upon this world!」"
Mika and Shu can now announce their dream, they are ready to uptake the challenge in walking that road together, even if more suffering is yet to come. They now have each other, as equals.
"In this eternity that never ends, let us create that of which the Gods desire,
The reverie of an ever-changing creation."
The two of them are now expecting change, they will reach their mighty artistic goal which cannot be truly eternal, but ever-changing, morphing. As long as they keep themselves true to their hearts, the Valkyrie they are mending will remain truly eternal in its own way.
"The walls of this world’s palace, embellished with tapestries abound,
Displays an endless lineage of weavers."
Shu and Mika recognize that Valkyrie is not the only truly achieved artistic act, but there are many unit and idols also struggling to attain their artistic views and goals.
"Now, let us fall heir to that worth and mend it."
As a conclusion, Shu and Mika are willing to uphold the responsibility of mend Valkyrie into a unit worth its potential. Their true journey towards their dream is just starting.

One of my favourite Taylor's lyrics is
"Rain came pouring down when I was drowning that's when I could finally breathe"
My interpretation of these lines is : When you get out of a relationship (likely a toxic one) that is when you could finally see clearly.
Even though you are breaking up with your beloved partner whom you dearly adore (here breakup equals to drowning) you could finally feel yourself and feel relieved (equals to finally breathe). This makes it certain that the relationship was not a healthy one and getting out of it has actually made you feel better rather than staying in it.

When I first listened to still ill by the smiths (ignoring the fact that I thought it said Still III as in the Roman numeral 3) I thought the lyric was “it just wasn’t like the old days anymore, no it wasn’t like those days and I still am” and I thought it was so sad and heartbreaking and about the narrator realizing that someone they loved evolved over time while they (the narrator) stayed the same

asking the guy if this is more than he bargained for because he knows he has to work through his issues

finding someone to take home because he hates being alone as it allows him time to think about the guy, essentially keeping his mind constantly preoccupied with a cycle of dances, parties, and hookups to avoid being alone with his thoughts

knowing no matter what, he cant change who he is, and not wanting to confront that
claiming that knowing about his feelings and being unable to do anything about them is worse than not knowing
so again, he copes unhealthily by taking stronger doses of medication instead of confronting whats actually making him depressed

falling deeper in love with the guy but not knowing how to cope with it healthily still in the closet ("take our tears, put them on ice" being a reference to drinking his feelings away)

continuing to lead his double life, so long as people keep believing, but still knowing one day theyll stop believing him and he'll either have to come out or find a new lie

knowing he's stuck with this guy for life (or until theyre forced apart) because of his love for him, but knowing the relationship could never have a good ending and has been condemned from the start
being ashamed of the lyrics hes written about the guy, knowing it describes too closely his love for him and that it could be a giveaway

hoping the guy "sings along and steals a line" (feels the same way, and repeats it back to him)
wanting to keep him but only being able to do so in his mind because he still thinks they can't be together
giving into what society wants from him and still playing the part he always has as opposed to just coming out and giving up his web of lies

while his love for the guy is obsessive and dangerous (with descriptions of violence and blood + his head swimming), he knows he cant have him and settles for just hooking up with him (keeping him warm and covering the top of his bed) and surpressing his feelings

hooking up with/dating a girl as a cover to give the media something to obsess over ("they're all scrambling"), but knowing there are no romantic feelings actually involved they just sell stories and magazines ("move units")

saying he only does it for the stories and not the fame, because for him hes merely trying to cover up his secret relationship
whereas everyone else around him is doing it for the fame
saying its such a shame the media outlets decided to focus on him instead of someone who actually deserves the fame, because his whole life is based off a lie

more of him creating stories to cover up his relationship, but slowly getting tired of it (his ears hurting from having to hear it)
if anyone ever found out that he was lying in his relationships because of his queerness, they would drown him in stories and news (calling himself a "traitor" for lying to them all)
