Letting Loose
Summary: Things get a little tense when the team celebrates a case with drinks and games. A one-shot that takes place before my story Multiple Entanglements
After a successful mission, Robin, Luke, Roo, and Aldon met at Barry’s for drinks and fun, well board games.
Robin was starting to get a little tipsy, to Luke’s dismay, when Roo pulled out a game called Truth or Dare.
“I found our next game!: Roo shouted triumphantly.
Aldon rolled his eyes, “How old are we?”
Roo shook her head, “This is not the kid’s version. Everyone take a seat, but get a refill on your drinks first.”
“What are the rules?” Luke asked, feeling way too old for the entire evening.
“I’m glad you asked,” Roo replied, “We’ll each take turns asking each other questions. You can either answer honestly or take a dare of the reader’s choosing. Any questions?”
Robin shook her head, “I’ll go first,” she announced as she drew a card before continuing, “Barry, this one is for you. Truth or dare, are you a virgin?”
Barry rolled his eyes, “I am not a virgin. I slept with my cousin’s cousin,” he confessed causing the team to erupt in laughter.
“I’m not going to challenge that answer,” Robin responded, sobering up as she put her card down. “Who’s next?” she asked before taking a swig of her drink.
Luke took a card and glanced around after reading it, choosing Aldon, “Have you ever broken a law?”
Aldon sighed, “That one’s no fun. Of course, I haven’t. I couldn’t be in the CIA if I did.”
Luke was met with a round of boos before Barry pulled the next card, directing his attention to Roo, “What’s your number?”
“What does that even mean?” Luke questioned causing Robin to giggle, “It means how many people has she slept with,” she explained.
Roo couldn’t hold back her laughter as she attempted to gather herself so she could answer, “Are you sure you want to know? I’m a bit of a playa if you know what I mean.”
Barry shook his head, “Answer or take a dare.”
“Ok, it’s thirteen,” Roo replied, “I know it’s not crazy high compared to Poohbear but it’s not bad,” she boasted, earning a high five from Aldon.
Roo pulled the next card and zeroed in on Robin, “Would you sleep with anyone in this room?”
Robin wasn’t drunk enough to fall for Roo’s trick, but she still had to be quick on her feet, “You,” she teased, hoping that making a joke would buy her some time.
“In your dreams,” Roo said, “Answer, or you have to take a dare.”
Robin bit her lower lip, “I’ll take the dare because you’re not going to believe anything I say.”
Roo nodded, “If that’s what you want. Kiss Aldon. A real kiss,” she dared causing Luke to hold himself together.
Robin stood from her chair and moved to Aldon, taking a seat in his lap before she placed her lips against his, running one hand along his chest while the other moved into his hair.
Once Robin ended the kiss and moved back to her seat, she was met with shocked faces, except for Luke, who was clearly gritting his teeth.
“That was quite a kiss,” Roo commented, “Maybe Robin should be Poohbear from now on,” she joked.
Luke shook his head as he stood from the table, “It’s getting late. Robin, I’ll drive you home. You’ve had too much to drink to get yourself there.”
No one protested as Robin got up and they all exchange their goodbyes before Luke guided her to his car.
Once they were in the privacy of his vehicle, Luke let out his emotions, “What the hell was that? Did you need to sell the kiss that much?”
She shrugged, “Roo was trying to catch us so I changed the conversation. I’m sorry if it upset you. That kiss meant nothing. I was thinking about you the entire time,” she added, honestly.
“You were?” he asked, his tone shifting as he realized that she was right and he’d overreacted. “I’m sorry for reacting the way I did. I just hated seeing you kissing him like that,” he admitted.
“I know, baby,” she replied while placing her hand on top of his, “Why don’t you get me home so I can show what I imagined happened next during our kiss? This night is still a celebration, last I checked.”
His breath caught at her suggestion, “I wish we were already there,” he whispered as he put the car in drive and raced to her apartment.

the percy jackson show is amazing in the way that mr brunner says 'there is no one here that goes by that name' instead of 'we've never had a mrs dodds' because he doesn't like lying and in the way grover has to lie about percy shoving nancy to save him and he meets his eyes and you can tell hes heart broken but he has to do it because percy will die otherwise and in the way sally so fiercely loves her son and in the way percy so fiercely loves her back praying to her instead of his dad and in the way luke immediately says that annabeth is his little sister and in the way annabeth is so purely annabeth shes just a child she wants to prove herself she wants to live up to expectations and you can see that in her determination they are precious and children and dont deserve what theyre gonna be put through
there is so much about it that i love

Reasons why The Campfire Song from The Lightning Theif musical is an amazing song:
1.) "It's not enough that they're omnipotent and all powerful. They need to feel appreciated." I love that Luke is the one who is outwardly expressing his resentment to the gods, like in the books. I consider this foreshadowing lol. Also, this line sets up the narrative that the gods always know when demigods are talking about them, and the song is literally all of the demigods shitting on the gods as parents, which is hilarious.
2.) "I met the guy once and once was enough! Annabeth?" I enjoy that right after Luke talks about how he never again wants to meet his dad, Luke is the one to get the 'I resent my godly parent' ball rolling and immediately encourages Annabeth to do the same. I've recently been interpreting this as Luke subtly manipulating Annabeth, which isn't too far off from what happens in the book.
3.) "Chiron! Who's your dad?" "Oh, well, my father is Kronos. Remember my lecture: he ate his children." I love how Chiron doesn't even sing a verse, but more so a couple of lines to mock the song, as if it's absurd of him to prove that his father, fucking Kronos, is bad, which is hilarious. But you can also interpret this as him just being like 'my father ate me when I was newborn🤪🤪" and that's equally as hilarious lmao
4.) "If I tried to sing, it'll probably cause an avalanche." QUOTE FROM THE BOOK! PUT SOME RESPECT ON THE CREATORS OF THIS MUSICAL!
5.) "So, my dad is some God. That's great, I guess😒" Percy is so unbothered by the fact that he is literally the descendant of a god. like, he had a huger reaction to Chiron being a centaur lol
6.) "But I don't care where our parents may be. As long as you are here with me!" I think this line is so sweet because these kids safe haven is not just the camp, but each other. No matter what, they got eachother's back and I love that for them. But this line becomes a bit complicated because Luke is the one singing, and we know that he eventually revolts against the gods. it's just sad because that part of Luke that wants to have camp as a support system never left him, I don't think, it's just that he went about finding a support system and avenging the lives of these demigods in an awful way.
This song is cute and funny and it'll break your heart is you let it lol

My thoughts on episode 1 and 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians: (spoilers)
- The ACCURACY of the little Percy casting was unbelievable. They look identical.
- The SARCASM 🫶🏻👌🏻
- I’ve never been able to connect with Sally Jackson as a mother-figure in the books just because of my own rocky relationship with my mom, but the way she’s played really made me believe in her character and her love for Percy. It gives PERCY’s character more grounding and their relationship really drives the show.
- Sally just sitting in the rain with Olivia Rodrigo playing. Mood.
- “You fell in love…with Jesus?”
- The friction and “betrayal” between Percy and Grover was super interesting to see and I’m really glad they touched on that more than in the books
- I’ve been pronouncing Brunner wrong. Dam.
- Sally saying goodbye to Percy, knowing she was probably going to die 😭. Percy screaming for her.
- the Minotaur fight was awesome
- “YOU DROOL WHEN YOU SLEEP” Omg I can’t believe she said it. Leah’s delivery was different than how I imagined it but I loved it. She’s so matter-of-fact
- Again, I’ve always struggled with connecting with Luke’s character just because I felt like he was a little two-dimensional in the first book and then after that, you know, he’s evil and while I understood his motivations, I just didn’t really…care? Idk but his portrayal really helped me understand the depth of his betrayal and just how heartbreaking his story really is. I already love him more than I’ve allowed myself to from the books
- “She’s my little sister” I love their relationship while it lasts. Seeing how close they are really adds to the layers of both of their characters
- I’ve also been pronouncing Thalia wrong. Double dam.
- THE BLUE CANDY. PERCY BURNING IT NOT TO TALK TO HIS DAD BUT HIS MOM. That scene broke my heart.
- Leah. As. Annabeth. I’m going to be completely honest, Ive loved Leah from everything I’ve seen about her but I was nervous just because of how precious of a character Annabeth Chase has always been to me and I didn’t know if ANYONE, not specifically Leah, could live up to those expectations but omg I love her. Her bluntness. Her facial expressions. Her voice and delivery. Her sure movements and confidence and self-assuredbess that has come from success after success and training for so long. The way she is so unashamed to admit to using Percy and only watching him to see what he could do for HER. In her short amount of screen time so far, Leah was able to add layers to this character I’ve loved for so long that I didn’t even know where there. I never wanted her to leave the screen. My only complaint is that she didn’t have more lines. She is my Annabeth Chase. She’s not from the books. She’s not from the movies. She’s her own version and she stole the show.
- Luke saying Annabeth has a plan and that Percy will know what to do, only for PERCY TO BE FLOSSING AND PEEING AND PETTING GECKOS and trying so hard not to drive himself crazy with his ADHD and having nothing to do. I genuinely laughed out loud. Might be my favorite part.
- the fight scenes are so well choreographed.
- CLARISSE. She’s too pretty. I can’t hate her. And her ELECTRIC SPEAR. When it broke and she screamed, I got chills.
- The trident.
- Annabeth KNOWING Percy was Poseidon’s before anyone else cause she’s “always 6 steps ahead”
- People already keeping such important info from Percy “for his own good”
- “You are Poseidon’s son” “No, I am Sally Jackson’s son!” Might just be my favorite line. It’s so true. She raised him. She sacrificed everything for him. She loved him and cared for him and taught him that he wasn’t broken, he was singular, a miracle. She died so that he could live.
- Sally Jackson is parenting goals
- The way Percy instantly changed his decision to go to the underworld as soon as Grover told him his mom could be saved. Their relationship is unmatched
- Walker Scobell is already pretty well known, but I have a really good feeling his popularity is going to skyrocket after this show. He is such an amazing, dedicated actor. I know exactly what he is felling 100% of the time.
Overall, I absolutely loved it. In two episodes it’s become a comfort show that I can’t wait to continue watching!!

holy shit watching the pjo movie for shits and giggles and i forgot how TERRIBLE it is as an adaptation. it is. However. herculeanly CAMP. the joss wheden level shallow interpretation of Percy Jackson ever. i don’t have the brain power to explain so i will just dump. percy and grover are canonically in high school. percy lives with his mom. they BLACK SIDEKICKED GROVER. percy’s boy band emo fringe. WEARING HEADPHONES IN THE MUSEUM WHILE BRUNNER WAS TALKING. “leaving you was the hardest thing he ever did” speech. pierce brosnan is chiron. alexandra daddario. the high school lock eyes across the field “she’ll eat you alive” shot. leather harnesses instead of camp shirts. the hogwartsification of camp half blood. “my father is poseidon. yup, we’ve known all along. here’s a quest that i forbid you from going on.” no clarise. annabeth and percy fight at the end of capture the flag. luke’s private cabin with an entire video game system. “i broke into my dads house and stole these shoes and shield hope they help you on your quest to find fUCKING PEARLS i guess also here’s a glowing map that tells you exactly where to go.” the complete misinterpretation of the major plot points/locations/relationships/characters in general. annabeth is a 90s bridewife heroine who makes snarky does she like him does she hate him comments the entire time. percy is a 16 yo dweebjock who makes incel turned hero comments the entire time. grover is a polyamorous slut who makes black sidekick comments the entire time. percabeth’s h2o just add water pool scene. “our parents speak to us in our minds and give us advice” THEY DRIVE MOST OF THE TIME. percy uses the flying shoes multiple times. they get high in a las vegas casino. the entirety of the casino scene. GROVER TRIES TO PAY CHARON, GUARDIAN OF THE UNDERWORLD, WITH $170 AMERICAN DOLLARS CASH. rosario dawson persephone hits on grover IMMEDIATELY. gay roman soldier miniature as hades. the bolt was in the shield luke gave them. persephone’s kissem and stab ‘em move to take the bolt. “you can’t take your mom because you only have three pearls :(“ grover volunteers to stay and percy like doesn’t fight it at all and persephone immediately has offscreen sex with him. luke’s “im the lightning thief” speech. the sky battle with the flying shoes. “maybe they were wrong. maybe you’re not a son of poseidon.” *immediately drowns in electrically charged water* “idk. maybe i am i the son of poseidon.” *makes a water trident and throws it at luke, careening him across nyc into the hudson river* the way the movie takes away all agency or criticism from poseidon’s/the gods’ shitting parenting by inventing a law by zeus forbidding gods from making PHYSICAL contact with their children. grover getting horns and elevating him to “senior protector” bc i guess they had to rate his protection skills for some reason. percabeth’s almost kiss turned “never let your enemy distract you” ya novel vomit. PERCY PUTTING MEDUSAS UNCOVERED HEAD IN HIS KITCHEN FRIDGE WITH A “NEVER OPEN THE FRIDGE EVER LOVE PERCY” NOTE, PROMPTING A PETTY GABE TO OPEN IT AND GET ROCKED BY MEDUSA. truly the rick and morty parody of a 2010 YA fantasy novel turned franchise movie. it’s defining redeeming factor: annabeth is taller than percy.

A Stakeout
Summery: Things get a little boring while Luke and Robin are watching their latest suspect. A one-shot that takes place before my story Multiple Entanglements
Robin turned in her seat, fighting boredom while keeping Luke from noticing. They’d only been working together for six months and she didn’t want to look bad in front of a legend.
“Are you alright, Agent Carter?” he inquired, “How long has it been since you took part in a stakeout?” he added.
She nodded, “I’m great. I just wish I’d brought a book or maybe some word searches,” she admitted, looking away from his gaze, afraid she’d see judgment on his face.
“This type of work is about patience,” Luke began, “I looked at your scores from the Farm. You excelled in these situations. Almost all of your instructors complimented your composure. Is there something else going on?”
Robin didn’t want to admit that part of her problem was that she was distracted by her feelings for him. She knew from her team that he was working on winning his ex-wife back so there was no point in pursuing her interests. She needed to think of a quick lie.
She shrugged, “I think I’m just a little bit intimidated by you. Roo and Aldon are always talking about how many amazing things you’ve done. I’m not sure I belong on this team,” she told a half-truth, causing Luke to shake his head.
“There’s no need,” he replied his tone tender, “You earned your place on this team. Are you sure that’s the only thing bothering you?” He was giving her another chance, to be honest.
Robin took a deep breath, “You’re right, there is something else, but I really don’t want to talk about it. I hope that’s alright?”
Luke nodded, even though he already knew what was on her mind. Roo had told him that Robin had feelings for him because she’d noticed that he was attracted to her. “You have every right to keep whatever it is to yourself. If you change your mind, we have all night,” he offered before silence resumed between them.
A few hours passed before Robin couldn’t handle the tension that was building between them, for another second.
“Ok, I’ll tell you what’s bothering me,” she burst out, “But, if things get awkward then we pretend I never spoke, deal?”
Luke gave a simple nod as his response.
She took that as a go-ahead before she started explaining, “I am not usually unprofessional like this. I need to make that clear.” She swallowed before continuing, “I tried to ignore these feelings but I haven’t been able to. I am into you, Luke Brunner, like deeply. The reason that I’m having such a hard time during this stakeout is because of that and also because I can think of some fun ways for us to pass the time…” She let her words linger in the air, hoping she didn’t just ruin a brand new relationship, no matter how things shook out.
Luke didn’t answer right away as he thought over his words. Finally, he took a deep breath and spoke, “If you’d told me this two, or even three, months ago, I would have told you that I am still devoted to my ex-wife and that we couldn’t have any kind of future. However, after working with you, I can confirm that I have developed feelings for you two. I’m not sure what you mean when we say we could make this stakeout more fun, but I would like to take you out on a date after the mission is complete,” he confessed.
“I would really like that,” Robin replied as her lips curled into a mischievous smile, “I was kind of thinking that I could scratch the itch now, though. I’m very aware that you’re old-fashioned, but we could have a lot of fun while we wait on our target to make a move,” she added as she moved onto her knees on her seat, angling herself to face him while she placed her hand on his thigh.
He nearly held his breath to hide his reaction to her touch, “If we do this, we need to keep it quiet. Even if some of the team know we have feelings for each other, they can never know that we’re acting on them. Can you do that?”
“Of course, I’m a spy,” she said before she inched her hand further up his thigh until she reached the obvious bulge in his jeans. “Are you sure you want to move forward and have our nice first date later?”
Luke let out a hiss as he felt her start rubbing him through his pants, “I’m sure,” he agreed as he started to pull her over onto his lap before his expression took on a look of confusion at her shaking her head.
“I have a very specific idea,” she whispered, leaning in toward his ear, “One of us has to keep watch,” she added as she undid his belt first and then moved to undo his jean.
A guttural groan escaped his lips as she grasped him in her hand before she started to move up and down, painfully slowly, ensuring he was ready.
After Luke released a few frustrated moans, Robin took pity on him and removed her hand, replacing it with her mouth. She ran her tongue from the base of his shaft to the tip before she engulfed him between her lips, smiling as she felt his hand grasping her hair.
With each small noise and grunt Luke made, Robin felt herself getting wetter but she resisted the urge to touch herself, too consumed with him.
He surprised her when he suddenly removed her mouth from her, hosting her onto his lap until she was straddling him. “I don’t want our first time to be about just me,” he whispered as he ran his hand up her leg until he could move her panties to the side, allowing her to adjust before she sank down on him.
She moaned as she felt his fingers dig into her hips before she started moving up and down on him, both of them already close.
“I can’t wait for our first real date,” she nearly yelled out as she felt her orgasm take over, forcing herself to keep moving. She could feel him starting to twitch as she clenched around him and knew he wouldn’t be far behind.

I've only seen 3 episodes of the new "Percy Jackson" show so far and my main complaint with the first two episodes was pacing. I thought the pacing in the third episode was much improved and overall very good, but a lot about the first two episodes felt rushed to me.
I think episodes 1 and 2 both could have been two episodes each to slowly introduce us to Percy, Grover, Sally, Mr. Brunner, Mrs. Dodds and the Minotaur, and then to the Camp, to Annabeth, Luke, Clarisse, the satyrs and the different cabins, etc.. I mean, I think what was there was pretty solid! I like the actors! I don't think it's badly written (I think making Luke show Percy around the camp was a good choice to make later things hit harder, since we will have more time with Annabeth on the quest itself later), but I would have liked more breathing room scenes, like when Percy burned the blue jellybeans, for things to settle in, and I blame the studio for not giving this show a longer season to work with.
As it stands now, the first two episodes felt more intended for existing fans, rather than for onboarding new fans. I feel like a frog being thrown into boiling water instead of the water coming up to a boil around me. If you're not familiar with this religion & lore already, if you don't know who the Twelve Olympians are, the introduction to the Camp doesn't give you much of a foothold, which is quite unfortunate when PJO was many people's introduction to this stuff.
The blue food is not really explained. The tension of the mystery with Mrs. Dodds kind of gets thrown out because it all happens so fast. There's no time to slowly build a feeling of normalcy and then wrongness. Percy's relationship with Chiron is undermined by how little time they get together. Percy finding out who his father is happens SO QUICKLY that we don't have a proper understanding of what's wrong about his claiming when it happens. The camp looks cool and I want to see more of it! How it functions is barely explained! We barely get to meet anyone! It feels like Percy is there for less than 48 hours before he's leaving on a quest again, so there's very little time to build up his attachment to it. I have less emotional investment in Percy's conflict with Clarisse because we barely get to understand what daily life at Camp Half-blood might be like (although I understand putting less focus on Clarisse now knowing that you'll be able to play catch-up during future storylines).
I think the show is making pretty good choices with the time that they have, I just wish they had MORE time. I don't think that they have to include every little detail and scene and character from the books. I like a lot of the changes they've made just fine. I just feel like the writing and acting is being undermined by the fact that there's very little time to set things up so that you can knock them down, and that it takes more time to show something visually than it does to read a sentence. Everything in episodes 1 and 2 is moving so quickly that some of the magical aspects feel... less magical to me because there's less time to develop contrast. And the show doesn't have as much time to potentially develop cool NEW things, to slide in more new funny character interactions, because it's all so smushed down. I want more time to see these actors shine together.
(Although, admittedly, it is VERY funny to feel like Percy is stuck in some sort of speedrun version of the story. Every day is a new rollercoaster of Percy not knowing what the fuck is going on and going with it because he's not given the time to ask questions. Sure! This might as well happen next! His life sucks already. That part feels very true to the books, although I think the feeling could still be preserved if the show was given more time.)
I'm tired of 8 episode seasons. I don't know if I think that PJO needs a full 20+ episodes to tell the story of the first book, probably not, but being constrained to only 8 instead of at least 10-16 feels disappointing.
