a/n: idk i just really wanted to write so THIS was born !!! how some of the one piece boys realize they have feelings for ya !! might do this for other fandoms too…actually yeah i will LOL probably if i don’t forget

NOTE: i end them after their confession on PURPOSE so you can choose your own adventure 😆 also there’s more dialogue for luffy’s + usopp’s so they’re a bit longer !!

eustass kid is angry. he's angry that he developed a crush on you. it's so stupid, he thinks. so outta character.

everyone on the victoria punk knows it, including you. and much to kid’s dismay, so does killer. killer talks to him about it everyday, trying to coax a confession out of him in the most gentle yet firm way he can. he wants his captain to be happy, and he knows that you can make him happy, because you already do without knowing it.

kid is completely docile in your presence, and protective. he’s more quiet, because he wants to hear what you have to say. he’s around more, because he wants to keep an eye on you. and maybe because he likes being in your presence.

kid tells (threatens) the rest of his crew that, even though they’re like brothers to him, they’ll be ripped to shreds if any of them so much as glance at you the wrong way.

luckily for you and unluckily for him, you’d heard his very public threat to the kid pirates, save for you.

you ask kid what the hell all that was about and he simply shrugs, rolling his eyes and trying but failing to keep his cool. you scoff and chuckle at his indignance. you continue to press him till he finally gets annoyed and locks eyes with you, his pupils dilated and his lips spread out into a crazy grin.

“jus’ claiming what’s mine.”

monkey d luffy is seeking out the smartest person he knows, and once he sees her, he’s barreling toward her at lightning speed. hands appear, arising from the wood of the sunny’s deck and forming a net right in front of robin, effectively catching luffy and recoiling him flat onto his butt.

“robin! what was that for?” luffy whines, adjusting his straw hat and tilting it back so that he can look at robin.

“i’d prefer to not be crashed into, captain.” robin shuts her book and gives luffy a gentle, almost maternal smile. “now, what has you so excited?”

luffy is thoughtful as he opts to lay back down on the deck, tilting his straw hat over his face to shield his eyes from the sun. he’s not excited, kinda confused, actually.

he’s good with his feelings, because he knows his feelings. he's familiar with them. but these feelings—the ones he's been feeling for the past couple of weeks or so—are new. he doesn’t know them, but he wants to learn about them. so here he is, ready to learn with the smartest person he knows.

“well…i wouldn’t call it excited, ya know?” luffy stretches his arms overhead before folding them behind his head. robin chuckles quietly, already aware of luffy’s feelings before he'd even realized them himself.

“what would you call it then?” robin asks patiently.

“like…i dunno! it’s different! it’s different with ‘em…” luffy trails off, sinking back into his thoughts.

“different with who?”

“y/n!” luffy chirps, feeling himself smile at the mention of your name. “i’m really happy they’ve joined the crew!”

“happy like…you’re happy that i joined the crew?”

“nuh uh, like…i always wanna be near ‘em. i like when they laugh, when they’re happy. their smile’s real nice, too.” luffy pauses. “it’s a lot of fun to be alone with ‘em! makes me feel good…”

robin takes her time explaining what these feelings mean, that that bubbly, queasy feeling in his stomach was not, in fact, indigestion. once robin’s words seep into luffy’s thick, rubber skull, he jumps up off the deck and wraps robin in a tight hug, grinning the whole time and whisper yelling i gotta go tell ‘em!

luffy finds you instantly, almost like his body contains a homing device that always leads to you. you notice way too late that you are in the direct path of the tornado that is luffy, and he tackles you, causing you to fall back. luffy is quick to catch you, stretching an arm around your waist and bringing you to his chest, looking at your face with such intensity you can’t keep your face from heating up.

you’re breathless. due to the adrenaline from almost cracking your skull against the wood of the ship, and from the i’ve got feelings for ya! robin says they're love feelings! do you feel the same? that rushed out of luffy’s mouth.

roronoa zoro is confused. honestly, more confused than he’s ever been in his life. then he’s annoyed. why did he have to develop feelings for a crewmate, let alone you? it would just get in the way of everything. he wants to focus on his dream, on luffy’s dream, and sometimes even on sanji’s dream.

he doesn’t consider himself a particularly selfish person, but he wanted to focus on himself first.

but then he sees you smile. he hears you laugh. he watches you work and hone your craft, a look of ecstatic determination on your face and the tip of your tongue peeking out between your pursed lips as you focus. suddenly, he realizes it’s really not about him anymore. it’s about you.

he starts to avoid you like the plague—he figures that if he can’t see you, you can’t see him. but he’s oh so wrong.

when you decide you've had enough of this, you stop zoro, your hand gripping his shoulder and pulling as hard as you can. zoro raises an eyebrow at you and turns around, crossing his arms and waiting for you to explain yourself.

“you’ve been avoiding me.” you state, leaving no room for disagreement or excuses.

“says who?” zoro is very good at playing dumb.

“says me. and luffy.” you huff a bit as you remember your encounter with your captain. how his lips had twisted to the side and how his eyes had shot up to the sky when you’d asked what zoro’s problem was.

“luffy doesn’t know—”

“know why you’ve been avoiding me?” you step closer to zoro, your eyes locked on his and staring into his soul, searching for answers. “i’m sure we’d both love to know.”

zoro scoffs and rolls his eyes, taking a step back from you and turning his face to the sea. the cool ocean breeze feels nice against his burning face. he grimaces as he turns back to you, figuring he might as well get this over with.

“ilikeyou.” zoro mumbles, the words rushing out of his mouth and stopping quickly as they had started.

you shake your head and lean closer to zoro, turning your head to the side so his lips are inches away from your cheek.

“can you repeat that, please, roronoa?”

“i like you.” zoro says the three, short, quipped words. he’s frowning and his arms are crossed and pulled tightly against his chest, in hopes to dampen the hammering of his heart.

trafalgar d water law is no stranger to stuffing his feelings deep inside of his chest and leaving them there to rot. so he’s wondering why in the fresh hell these annoying feelings for you keep resurfacing. they crawl up his esophagus and reflux into his mouth, leaving a bitter taste behind and making him scowl every time he feels them.

and to you, it seems as though every time the two of you lock cross paths, he narrows his eyes at you and stalks away. he rarely talks to you anymore, although the conversations you'd shared before were usually very short, yet somehow still meaningful.

you decide to confront him about it, byway of bepo, who happened to know exactly why law was seemingly scarce around you.

“c-captain? our captain?” bepo stutters, bringing his paw up to his mouth and feigning surprise. “wow! i have no clue why he’d do something like that!”

you frown at bepo. it’s painfully obvious he knows everything about the answer to your question. “spill it, bepo.”

bepo starts to make gestures with his hands and little struggle noises with his mouth. he has no clue how to get out of this one. so he does, indeed, spill it.

a few minutes later, after bepo was done with his rambling and law’s confession, you approach law with a smug smile on your face.

it doesn’t take a genius to be able to tell why you’re smirking like that, and law immediately pinches the bridge of his nose and tilts his head down.

“that damn bear…”

usopp is sweaty. he’s sweaty, he’s wringing his hands, twirling his hair around his fingers, readjusting his goggles on top of his head. he can’t sit still. he’s been thinking about how on earth to deal with his feelings: does he just shove 'em deep down inside or does he shout 'em from the crow’s nest? he hasn’t had romantic feelings for anyone since he left kaya, and he simply cannot deal.

“usopp…” nami says softly, touching usopp on the shoulder. he jumps, then flinches at his overreaction to his best friend’s simple and gentle gesture. “can you just tell them, please?”

“n-no! why should i?” usopp frowns at nami and furrows his eyebrows, knowing full well that it’d be best for his health and the crew’s sanity to just come out and tell you.

“if you don’t…” nami grins at him, slowly and mischievously, “i’ll tell them myself.”

usopp immediately springs up from his chosen sulking location and mutters an okay, okay! behind him as he leaves nami. he’s back to sweating, wringing his hands, playing with his hair, and fidgeting with his goggles.

you notice usopp looking particularly dreadful and wait for him to get closer to your position on the deck. you reach out and catch his hand, giving it a light tug so that he’s moving closer to you. he seems so deep in thought that he doesn’t even notice.

“usopp?” you tug on his hand twice, trying to get his attention. usopp meets your gaze and stares at you blankly before shaking his head and becoming aware of the situation. he tries to withdraw his hand from your grip but you’re holding on tightly, and he realizes he’s trapped.

“y/n! fancy seeing you here!” usopp laughs loudly, trying to mask the way that he’s absolutely crumbling and melting.

“what’s on your mind, usopp?”

“you.” usopp covers his mouth with his free hand immediately after the words come out of his mouth. what was he thinking, being so forward? he quickly looks away from you, directing his eyes to the clouds above. “i mean, nami was talking about you earlier. that’s why i’m thinking about you. no other reason!”

a small smile spreads across your lips. “oh, yeah. she told me something super interesting about you earlier today…” you say, drawing out the last few syllables and relishing in the way usopp looks at you in utter horror.

“nami told you that i like you?” he breathes.

“no, but you just did.”

vinsmoke sanji is aware that he actually likes you. that you're not just another pretty face he admires. he’s always known you were gorgeous, the apple of his eye, the object of his affection. you never noticed that it different, though. thinking back on it, you’re glad that you didn’t notice, because you might’ve thought it meant something bad. quite the contrary, in fact.

sanji knows he loves you when he feels calm in your presence. when he’s not acting like a fan boy and when he spends hours talking with you while he cooks or does the dishes or plans the crew's next meal. you’re always around, and yet, he’s never nervous.

when he really realizes it, though, it’s when he catches a glimpse of nami’s naked silhouette through the crack in the bathroom door and he doesn’t even flinch. not a tingle, not a single palpitation. it’s not you, and his heart knows it, so he’s calm. this is when he knows he has to confess.

“y/n…darling…” sanji says, grasping your hands in his own and looking you in the eyes. “i have to tell you something—something i’ve never told anyone before.”

you look at him, an eyebrow raised in skeptical curiosity. sanji looks worried, and he almost never looks worried. your mind is going a mile a minute, your brain flipping through pages and pages of things he could possibly say to you within the next minute. because of this, you miss the way sanji squeezes your hands, and the way he sucks in a deep breath.

“i’m in love with you.”

Decisions | you chose: Roronoa Zoro x reader

Summary: After a misunderstanding makes the crew think you and Zoro are sleeping together, you're forced to face your feelings towards him.

You definitely did not see this coming when you woke up that morning.

Zoro stood before you, looking more than ready to yank you away from Sanji’s hold. He asked what you wanted – a simple question on its own, but right now, so hard to answer seeing you didn’t know if he felt the way you did.

Zoro was sweet to you, sure. Maybe sweeter to you than he ever was to Nami, or, to anyone else for that matter. But seeing him fight with Sanji over every little thing, you took into consideration that his tenderness towards you might just be to rub the cook the wrong way. But then you thought of the way he pulled you in earlier that morning. Knowing Zoro, it was unlikely that came naturally to him. And it had just been the two of you – there was nothing performative about that gesture.

Not to mention, the way he looked at you now – it was almost pleading.

It wasn’t even a conscious decision when you finally replied, “You”.

That was it. You had taken the plunge, a leap of faith.

The crew fell silent in anticipation; Sanji’s arms froze around you.

“Cook, it’s time you took your hands off my woman.”

Blood rushed to your cheeks hearing Zoro call you his woman. Sanji, seemingly in shock, complied wordlessly. The rest of the crew watched the interaction, expressions varying from wide eyes to slacked jaws.

“What?” Zoro asked the group, sitting himself back down and reaching for the orange juice. “It’s not like you didn’t see this coming.” He poured himself a glass, ignoring the current state of his peers. Deciding to follow his lead, you recompose yourself. You squeeze Sanji’s hand apologetically before returning to your own place, Sanji following your lead in defeat.

“I mean,” Luffy started, “I didn’t see this coming. How did I not see this coming?”

Usopp put on a proud-but-totally casual smirk. “I don’t blame you. They were pretty discreet. It takes a keen eye to notice these things.”

You had to stifle your laugh. “Either way,” continued Luffy, “I’m happy for you guys. The Straw hat’s first romance!”

Sanji leaned forward in his chair, raising a brow at Nami. “You wanna be the second?”

Later, the crew dispersed to their regular activities; this meaning you hadn’t had a chance to speak to Zoro since breakfast. You had a lot of unanswered questions that begged for his attention.

You stood to the side of the deck, watching the sun set after a hard day’s work. You watched the sun blend into the sea as you tried to quiet your rambling mind, trying to make sense of everything that was going on before you saw Zoro at dinner.

You were not prepared for him to approach you first.

You felt his hand on your back before you heard Zoro greet “Hey”, coming up beside you.

“Hi!” you replied, far too enthusiastically. Zoro smiled at your obvious nervousness.

“Are you done for the day?”

“Yeah,” you smiled, forcing the tension to leave your body. It was just Zoro. Zoro, who had referred to you as his woman. Cool. Casual. “How was training?”

“Good. You should join me tomorrow. There’s a couple of things I want to teach you.”

You loved training with Zoro; he had a knack for guiding you so cooly, and yet not giving you any slack for being a girl. “I’d love that.”

Zoro shifted to face the sea. Was he… nervous, too? “Listen. About this morning.”

Oh no. This was it. He was going to tell you it was all a show to annoy Sanji and you’d have to throw yourself off the ship in humiliation.

“I was thinking, and I don’t think I made it clear before.” You swallowed hard. Zoro turned to face you once more. “Can I be straight with you?”

“Always.” Your voice came out too small for comfort.

“Y/n, I’m in love with you.”

Oh.

“I’m not the best at this kind of stuff, so I reckoned I’d just say it so you knew. Hope that doesn’t creep you out or anything.”

“Creep me out!” you laughed. “Zoro, I’ve near crawled in to your bed for like, every morning for weeks now.”

Zoro’s lip quirked in to a little half-smile. “I nearly pulled you in a thousand times.” You had to smile at that, too, your heart feeling full enough to burst. “You think it takes me an hour to get out of bed? I just liked being alone with you.”

“Zoro!” you playfully smack his chest, and his hand comes up to hold yours in place where it fell atop his heart. His other hand finds its place on your neck, anchoring you in place. His eyes drop to your lips, and you stop breathing altogether. Zoro’s thumb brushes lightly over your bottom lip, before he leans down and his lips meet yours.

The passion you had been holding down for so long bubbled up to the surface in an instant; soon your modest kisses turned ravenous, with you pulling Zoro closer to you by his shirt. Zoro angled you so that he could sneak his tongue to meet yours. The idea that the entire display may be inappropriate out in the open where anyone might see you two came across your mind, but the hunger you were feeling for Zoro shut down the concern.

It wasn’t long until you heard a familiar “Oi!” that broke you two apart. Sanji was standing at the door to the accomodations, kitchen towel thrown over his shoulder. “Hands off, she’s an honest woman!” Sanji scolded Zoro who, for the first time, didn’t seem bothered by Sanji’s pestering. “Come on,” Sanji continued. “Dinner’s served.” With that, he was gone.

“We should go,” you told Zoro. Sighing heavily, reluctant to leave your current state, Zoro agreed. The two of you began walking towards the accomodations when Zoro casually slipped his hand to grip yours. Yeah… You could get used to this.

Laughter fills the kitchen of Going Merry as Usopp tries to fit another cupcake in his mouth.

You watch as Sanji shakes his head disapprovingly,Nami sharing a disgusted look with Zoro who's smirking slightly. And Luffy-

Monkey d. Luffy. The boy you grew up with and loved since the very beginning. The boy who dreamed so big even when he was small;the boy who became your captain.

And now,the boy who became your boyfriend after a tiny peck and shy confession on your part. But as you watch him stuff a donut in his mouth; seemingly competing with Usopp,you cant help but to wonder if you've made the wrong decision.

What if Luffy didnt even know how relationships work? What if he thought your confession was referring to being his best friend or something along those lines?

The thought has you stomach twisting and you gently push your plate away. Sanji,of course notices and shifts his attention to you.

"is the food not to your liking?"

You shake your head with a smile and rise from your sit .

"it was lovely as always Sanji. But I'm afraid I'm not hungry anymore."

"then I will wrap this for when you're hungry."

You give him a grateful smile and nod your head.

"thank you,Sanji."

And without looking at anyone else,you silently leave the kitchen.

As you step on the deck,the cool wind hits your face and makes you take a deep breath;it feels refreshing to get some air. The weather is nice,and the sky is clear. You lean against the railing and rest your chin on top of your folded arms and sigh;the stars are twinkling above and although beautiful,your heart clenches painfully. Your thoughts are dark just like the night sky and you feel tears burning your eyes and you push your face in your sleeves.

You hate this feeling. You hate having to doubt your relationship with Luffy. You hate hate hate, having to think about all these problems alone without any reassurance and a shoulder to cry on.

You hate doubting Luffy,your Captain,and the boy you loved since your childhood days.

The sound of the wind and ocean drowns your first sobs as your tears soak your sleeves,and you crumble on the floor with you head between your knees. You needed comfort,you needed Luffy.

You're so lost in your own thoughts that you dont hear the door to the deck opening,nor you hear the footsteps coming closer to you. You're so confused and lost that when a gentle hand lands on your shoulder,you jerk your head up so fast that you cringe at the whiplash you gave yourself.

You come face to face with Luffy,and your eyes widen immediately.

"L-Luffy-?"

"y/n?why are you crying?!" His hands are frantic as he starts looking for any injuries and when he finds none,he takes your face in his hands, "what's wrong?you suddenly left the dinner now you're crying!tell me what's wrong!"

When you look at his brown eyes,and see so much concern in them,you finally break.

Your sobs are loud and painful as your nails push in your skin and you bite your lip hard to keep yourself from letting out a pitiful whimper. Luffy's eyes immediately draw to your lips that are almost bleeding from how hard you're biting them,and with a sad noise he jumps closer to press his lips to yours.

The action has your eyes widening,and you look at how he's squeezing his own shut.

When he pulls away,his thumb brushes against your bruised lips done by yourself,and frowns.

"don't hurt yourself like that. If something's wrong,tell me and I'll fix it. I promise."

"Luffy," your throat dries and your tongue darts out to wet your lips;still slightly dazed from the kiss, "do you even...want to be in a relationship with me?"

In my fics, I try to keep everything gender neutral, but I really like the idea of this. Most of there reactions are kinda the same, so this is short. Keep in mind that I am not trans, so if I get anything incorrect please tell me.

Also, I've finished Water 7, so this will be the first headcanons including Franky, yay!

Since you mentioned him, I'll talk about Sanji first. Like I said, I write my fics with a gender neutral reader in mind, so I've avoided writing Sanji as a complete simp. Rather, I try to write him as a caregiver who just wants to see you happy and taken care of.

That's how I think Sanji would act. He'd be honestly kinda overwhelming, constantly making sure no one disrespects you. Sanji isn't the complete image of masculinity, he cooks and cleans, but he also provides and protects and I'd like to think he'd remind you that there isn't a right or wrong way to be you. He doesn't care how you identify because that doesn't really change his opinion on you.

Because of this, he fully supports you being trans because he cares about you. As long as you're safe and happy, none of that really matters to him.

Luffy is a very carefree person and does not care at all if you're trans. His behavior can come off as him not comprehending what you're telling him, but that's not the case.

A lot like Sanji, Luffy does not care about your gender, he cares about you being safe. I like to think that Luffy doesn't really take things like that into account, you know? Like he respects you and is proud you feel comfortable telling him that but also nothing really changes with him. He's still insanely protective, possessive, and demanding of your time. He doesn't see a point in changing how he, you're still the same you.

Zoro is a little different. Zoro is much more aware of his masculine energy, how people perceives him as a man and how that affects the way he's treated by other people. A lot of people think Zoro is stupid, but I think he'd be aware that people are more likely to respect him because he's a "manly man."

However, he wouldn't have a problem with you coming out. Zoro from a young age was forced to face the reality of gender roles, and how gender roles affect people and how they perceive themselves. As a child, he was very one note, believing woman were weak and defenseless. But very quickly that changed, and it's why he's so cool with you coming out now.

He never once thought less of you when you were a woman, and like Luffy, didn't really care. When you come out to him, his opinion of you doesn't change. I actually think he'd become a little bit more protective, because like I said, Zoro understands the complexity of gender and knows there are people out there who won't respect you. Whenever there are bad days, he reminds you that he'll always be there for you, that the'll all always be there for you.

Nami is very supportive. She honestly doesn't really know how to react, but quickly realizes the venerability of the situation and attempts not to overwhelm you too much.

She really just wants to be there for you. She wants you to know that she can help you with anything, getting new clothes, offering to cut your hair, anything that would make you more comfortable.

Like the others, she's super protective. Less of the "I'll cut your tongue out if you misgender them." but more of the "I'll literally curse you and your entire family out in front of your children if you look at them wrong." She knows she isn't the strongest, but that doesn't change how much she desires to keep you safe.

Robin, the same as Nami, is very supportive and very protective. I think since Robin is literally a genius (she's such a queen, I'm jealous) her and Chopper are the one's who understand things like gender dyshoria the most. She understands that she'll never completely understand what you're feeling, but is sympathetic and offers herself as a person to talk to if you're feeling alone.

Like I've mentioned, she's just as protective of the others, but doesn't show it in front of you. She understands that you're in a venerable state, and that you're most likely overwhelmed with how everyone's been acting. So, she keeps civil in front of you, for your sake.

Chopper is a doctor, and so he takes a more medical approach to everything. He'd never imply that you need things like gender dysphoria to be trans, but will also be a reliable person to go to if you do feel that way.

He's the one who makes sure you're always safe, especially if you're in the process of transitioning. For example, if you chest bind, then he makes sure you're doing so safely. He also remind you that medical procedures aren't always needed, and he doesn't want to push something onto you that you don't feel comfortable with, especially if you're already confident in yourself and your gender.

But other than his professional side, he's also a really good friend, and is happy to help you feel more happy in your own skin. He's always the first one to ask if you're doing okay, especially in public situations where people aren't always as nice.

I feel like out of all of them, Usopp is more lighthearted. He doesn't pretend like he understands everything, and definitely doesn't want to speak over you and your own experiences. So, he tries to lighten the mood by making tasteful jokes, never at your own expense. It's a good reminder that nothing has changed between all you, that they're all still your friends.

However, somethings Usopp feels stupid, upset that you don't come to him whenever you're feeling down. He tries to go to Robin or Chopper and asks them to teach him about everything, until he has a very rare big brain moment and realizes he can just ask you.

He likes when you teach him about aspects of yourself, because it makes him feel as though you're closer than every other person on the crew. Again, however, he doesn't try to cross any boundaries, and won't ask about anything he knows you're uncomfortable with.

Finally Franky, who's like Luffy, he doesn't really care. He's smart, he understands what you're going through, but it doesn't change what he already thinks about you.

He cares deeply for you, and does everything he can to make you happy. He's like a mixture of Zoro and Usopp, he's protective but also jokey. In a way, he's also like Robin, where he's happy-go-lucky and supportive in front of you, but fiercely protective of you when it's just him. He can't stand people being rude to you, mainly because he doesn't really understand it. He doesn't get how people could be rude to you, especially about something that doesn't really affect anyone other than you.

He wants a partner who's like him and shares the same values. And who can cook!

Roronoa Zoro ☆ Demisexual, gay

✧ Zoro knows he's gay, but he doesn't know he's demisexual. ✧ To be honest, Zoro doesn't know when he discovered his sexuality. He's always had a thing for strong spirits, bodies shaped by hours of training, solid values and someone who can take care of themselves in a fight. A woman can very well have these traits, but they're not the ones who capture the swordsman's attention. ✧ Zoro is not familiar with the various terms of the LGBTQ+ community, pronouns, gender, it's a very abstract concept to him and above all, useless. He doesn't understand why people try to put a label on their foreheads and put themselves in a box. You're straight? Ok. You're gay? Cool. You were born in a man's body, but you're a woman? All right. He doesn't give a shit what you've got between your legs or what you like (unless it's illegal). ✧ It's no secret that he's gay, but he doesn't talk about it openly. He embraces who he is, but he doesn't want to discuss it. What he likes and what he wants is nobody's business but his own. ✧ He's never expressed his orientation and preferences out loud, but he's sure Nami, Robin, Brook and Franky know. ✧ He's never been in a relationship. ✧ He had two one-night stands, only to discover that it wasn't enjoyable. Yes, the act itself was okay, only because he was emptying his balls into a hole and not into his hand, but the experience was never fun enough to make him want to do it again. ✧ When he fucked strangers, Zoro felt disconnected from the act. His body moved, but his head was empty, as if he were on autopilot. He wanted it to be over as quickly as possible and to leave without ever seeing the man again. Nami ☆ Lesbian

✧ I'm sorry, but this girl NEVER liked men. ✧ She was the little girl who didn't want to play with baby dolls and was disgusted by the idea of marrying a boy. "Boy? ew!!!" ✧ When she lost her mother and joined Arlong, her hatred for men increased x1000. From then on, she was surrounded by men 24/7, and subconsciously, the words pirates and men became linked. Luckily, Luffy arrived and helped Nami out of her predicament. Because she doesn't want this information to be treated as a weakness. ✧ Nami is terrified of love. ✧ One day, she'd like to abandon herself in a woman's arms and experience true love, but she doesn't want to relive what happened with her mother. Losing someone dear to her, Nami doesn't think she could survive this misfortune a second time. ✧ As soon as Nami senses that she's developing a crush, she goes into sabotage mode and ends the relationship, forcing herself to forget her feelings, regardless of whether it hurts or not. It's her way of protecting her heart, but also the other person. ✧ She's the most sensitive of the crew and probably the one who'll suffer the most in terms of love. ✧ Her knees go weak when she meets a warm, maternal, smiling, strong and loyal woman. ✧ Nojiko suspects that her sister is a lesbian, but they've never discussed it. Nami is afraid her sister won't accept her, even though she knows it's totally ridiculous and that Nojiko only wants her happiness. ✧ Gazing at the stars one night, Nami opened up to Vivi and confessed her secret. Vivi reassured her that her confidence would be safe, and not to worry about her secret seeing the light of day. Vivi admits that she has never kissed anyone else. They shared a sweet kiss under the moon, their first, but not their last. ✧ Nami had hoped Vivi would stay with the Straw Hat crew, but... she's a princess and her kingdom needs her. Nami didn't allow herself to deal with the separation properly; she felt stupid for falling for a princess. ✧ While she was secretly crying one evening, Usopp joined her and comforted her, even though he didn't know why she was sad. He suspected it had something to do with Vivi, and he was right. After a long hour of silence and tears, Nami explained the situation to Usopp, who gave her a big hug. He explained that he understood how she felt, that leaving Kaya so suddenly had affected him and that he still missed her every day. Then that he felt foolish for falling for a girl so smart and rich, when he's nothing compared to her... After that moment, Nami and Usopp grew closer and share a unique bond.

Usopp ☆ Kayasexual Heterosexual

✧ This man has never questioned his sexuality. He loves women and he knows it, he's never doubted it. ✧ He's so comfortable with his orientation that he's not afraid to kiss and cuddle his best friends. ✧ TIME SPENT WITH THE BOYS IS IMPORTANT AND TREASURED. ✧ You know that person who is always touching his friends ass, and is borderline intimate with them, but 100% straight? When a woman loves him back, he is almost... disappointed. He accepts his physique and his identity, but being surrounded by humans has led him to believe that he couldn't have a girlfriend, that it was an absurd idea. ✧ As Chopper traveled the oceans with the Straw Hat Pirates, he was relieved to meet people like himself! He didn't believe that hybrids existed outside his case, after all, he'd eaten a devil's fruit and those can't be duplicated. ✧ Zou is his paradise. ✧ Unfortunately I don't have much to say for our favorite doctor, he's a teenager and he likes women. But I can talk about his future! ✧ Have you seen his 40/60 year old design??? GORGEOUS. ✧ When the One Piece will be found and the crew will split up, Chopper will return to Zou and become a guardian. By always turning to fantasy, Robin developed an attraction to fictional characters. ✧ Female, male, gender-neutral, cyborg? She has no preference, as long as they don't exist in the real world. ✧ Speaking of cyborgs, Robin has a soft spot for Franky, simply because he looks like something out of a book. His looks, his walk, his creations... how can you not be hooked on this robot? ✧ As shown in the anime, Robin has a great imagination! Being Luffy's Stray (Version A)

After finishing this and editing it, I don't entirely find it cringey and I don't regret making the other version

- Luffy found you asleep on the deck of his ship, he was happy to have a friend

- But then when he found himself needing to fight for his life in the Marines bar, that’s when he realized how cool you really were

- You shifted and everyone’s mood changed, whispers coming from every corner

“Who’s ready to rumble?” You purr, intimidating marines always gave you a sense of satisfaction.

“It’s the fearless shifting pirate.”

- You stand before Luffy and grab the man before he could get hurt, reminding him of someone he used to know

"Come on, kid."

"I'm not a kid." He pouts but follows after you

"You wouldn’t be a kid if you didn’t stop and pick a fight with everyone you meet."

"How'd you do that?" He asks, ignoring the question.

"How are you a rubber man?"

"I ate a devil fruit."

You raise a brow waiting for him to understand what you’re talking about. "And?"

"Oh. You ate one too."

You pat his shoulder, "now he gets it."

- Nami and Zoro had no idea who you were or what you do until you were dealing with Buggy

- He held you up by the back of your neck, laughing until he got a foot in his face

- You immediately turn and find your friend trapped in a glass case before running to him and start punching the glass as hard as you can, blood smearing across the front in the process from your knuckles

- You're pulled back by a floating hand. "What the hell?"

"What? You didn't realize I could- oh, right. You were still in your little burlap sack," and he laughs in your face

- You’ve never wanted to beat a clown before and you’re ready to start now

- Luckily, you’re able to him lock up in the random collection of unused treasure chests he had lying around

- Luffy immediately runs to you and hugs you

- You groan and stand still, patting him on his back every few seconds

- He steps back from you and you two stare at Nami and Zoro

- They have no idea what’s happened and are naturally, confused

"What was that?"

"A magic trick, what do you think, Orangie?"

She narrows her eyes at you

"Keep staring at me like that and I might cough up a hairball."

Nami shutters, "gross."

You smirk, "yep so, don't mess with me." Your tail flicks. "I play dirty."

Zoro raises a brow, "weren’t you gonna jump in sooner?"

You shrug, "I don't know. The clown literally threw me in a sack. He's lucky I didn't scratch an eye out."

- Finding a new ship was... annoying to say the least

- You're just happy none of your crew got injured too badly

- Luffy's happy you weren’t awake for the battle, otherwise it would have been a real catfight (he got a chuckle out of everyone but you when he made the joke)

- Usopp freaked out the first time he saw you turn

- Your ears flicked as you chuckled at him

- He always makes sure to have someone near him when he sees you

- His fear makes you feel a little bad but then you get over it when he plays with you (his slingshot also makes for a great exercise, what can you say)

- You scare him but annoy Zoro more than anything

- You cackle every time he sees you because of how much he dislikes cats (more so after dealing with Klahadore)

- You don't blame him, Klahadore has always been a pain along with his sidekicks

- Now you don't know how you got to the restaurant but you're happy Luffy grabbed you (this time) before walking in

- You woke up just before your waiter exited the kitchen, or more like, you were startled awake because the idiot you call a captain dropped you

- You shifted in time to land on your ass and narrow your eyes at him, ears drawn back as if you'll attack

- The captain boops your nose and you don't attack him, deciding to give him dirty looks instead

"Was that really necessary?"

"You got a problem with me, Orangie?"

"Yes. If you're not going to act like a civilized person, you're going back on the ship."

"Make me," you hiss

"I'm dealing with children," she mumbles.

- The commotion from the table closest to the kitchen hurts your ears, you lower your head and cover them, praying for someone to stop it all

"Welcome to the shitty restaurant where the only thing worse than the ambiance is the food. My name is Sanji, what can I get you?"

- You sigh at the sound of the waiter’s voice, finding it pleasant

- Usopp orders drinks while Luffy wants one of everything

"And for the madam?"

"Water."

"And would the madam like stilled, sparkling, mineral? With ice or without? Cubed or crushed?"

"Just regular water in a regular glass," Nami immediately stops his flirting.

"And a milk," Luffy turns to you (whose dying with all the sounds). "Make it two."

- When Luffy made the dumbest mistake of trying to do an IOU for the bill, you decided to not leave and wandered by his side as he did the dishes

- The chef stares at you as wander around the kitchen, he grabs a piece of meat and starts cutting it, holding out the first piece out for you to take

- You slip through Luffy's legs and slowly walk towards the blond, sniffing the fish as if he was going to poison you

"What are you doing here?"

You narrow your eyes to him.

"You speak to it as if you know the cat?"

"Who says I don't?"

The chef raises a brow at the rubber man's odd behavior.

- You sit by his feet, tail flicking against his shoe as a sign of contentment which Luffy knows you only do with the crew

- You hiss at him periodically, especially when he flicks water at you when you meow at the chef for more food

- The real kicker was when Arlong and his fishmen came, now that's when you impressed the blond

- You jumped into action when Luffy was pushed away, crashing into a table, you shifted mid-air and kicked him in his abdomen

"Nobody messes with him but me."

"Oh? And, what's a little kitten like yourself doing here?" He chuckles, "you gonna cough up a hairball?"

"Worse."

- You don't know when you got separated but by the time you made sure Sanji and Usopp were okay, you ran outside to see his body land in the water

- You’re pulled back by the storyteller before you could throw yourself into the water which would essentially make the situation worse

- Sanji pants watching Usopp help the captain

- You walk back to the ship with your tail tucked between your legs, not letting anyone find you because you hid in a barrel

- Everyone was worried especially since you were down a few crew members

- The only reason you were found was because you were panicking as you tried to get out

- Sanji found you and you launched yourself onto him (in cat form of course)

- He cooed at you and pet the special spot on your head which eased you into a calmer state

"It's going to be okay." He holds you closer to his chest. "Now, let's go inside and find you something to eat. It's dark out."

- He didn't let you out of his sight until Zoro woke up

- The green haired man never thought he'd like cats as much as he did after that

- The fight between Arlong's fishmen and the crew was intense, although the guys and Nami had everything handled

- There was just one fishman who decided to mess with you

- And it all started when you got in your cat headspace and stared into the pond

- He popped up and you swatted his nose which pissed him off, so he held you up by your scruff

- You manage to escape and claw him, whining as he chucks you across the way, shifting in time to kick the fishman off Sanji

"Thanks." He smiles at you.

You flip away as Zoro involves himself, trying to use his katana to do some damage.

- After defeating all of them and getting a hug from Nami (expect for the now depressed chef), you all watch as Luffy rises from the ashes of the collapsed building

- You don’t have the energy to shift back into a cat and lay in a tree, listening to everyone enjoying themselves now that the battle is over

- Until Luffy had to deal with his grandpa

- Then you all shifted into high gear when Luffy showed you his second most favorite thing ever, his wanted poster which only left the Straw Hat crew with one option, leave before the marines could catch you

Man, Reader after Bonbon's ability and turning them into a teen sounds like a super interesting idea.

I imagine reader would be pretty much the same but taller, edgier and has quite a temper (duo to puberty, those suck asf)

Tho, what if they turned into a full adult?

nsert me drawing reader in their adult years

- They would be THE SAME like, even without the appearance of an adult, they're pretty much already an adult in terms of knowledge, experience, etc... and their years of suffering. They're a geezer :(

- I like to think that they would be alot taller than almost everyone in the strawhats, the wise look on their face (majestic as hell, hell yes), longer hair and they still have the same spark and bright star in their eyes (with eye bags below)

- I want to see everyone's reaction oml. Since they're used to see reader being a small, old, silly little star, who plays their ukulele occasionally, having the height of a damn tree

- some would be like "Cool, you look wiser and taller now" and some would outright go "WHO THE HELL ARE YOU, WHAT DID YOU DO TO (READER)!?!?!?!?1?1!1?1!11!?3?2!1!2?1!"

BONUS :

- Shanks used to be happy that reader is smaller than him (secretly or not, he prob teased them alot abt it) he can easily pick them up like a small teddy bear. and now... Seeing reader being taller than him? Damn... He would still carry them tho

- For Buggy, he does not care, he is still bigger, taller, because his "body" is now this big freaking blanket or smth, so even if reader is taller, he would just stretch his body or smth-

- Luffy and Zoro would see them as a STRANGER, imagine just chilling then this person, wearing the same clothes as their nakama (and adopted sibling), looking wiser and mature just go "Yo guys, wanna hear my new song" holding a ukulele. The same reaction just like when Monosuke became adult basically but Luffy would go "THATS SO COOL YOU LOOK SO DIFFERENT"

Everyone’s reactions would be pretty funny ngl

I think one interesting thing tho for y/n as an adult would be that their very weathered looking if that makes sense.

Their still a young adult but they have a lot of scars, ones that shine like gold and their face has an almost always tired look to it. Soft rounded features are sharpened, Their exhausted and there isn’t the youthful energy compared to their kid form.

They now better feel the ache and wear in their joints, their hands are tough and leathery compared to the softness of being a child and their eyes if you look long enough you can see the night sky.

Another thing as well is that their thin, looks like them essentially starving themselves for long periods of time and having the bare minimum would have an impact on their future (if would actually age). Sanji is meanwhile freaking out and forcing them to sit down as he makes them something.

What was once something they were all interested in seeing made the sad reality of y/n kinda hit them. The only time they’ll ever experience being an adult is paired with the pain and suffering of their long long existence.

Thanks so much for asking about my girl, Hadley!! (And I’ll also tag the other One Piece babes @auxiliarydetective and @oneirataxia-girl. <3 <3)

Luffy — Luffy absolutely adores Lark, the same way he adores all the other Straw Hats. He thinks she’s super strong for being able to run away from the World Government when being their songbird was all she’d ever known, and on top of that he thinks she’s just a really funny and cool person with an amazing singing voice. (They definitely eventually develop something of a brother-sister bond over time, too, because they just love each other and would do anything for each other.)

Nami — Nami is a bit unsure about Lark when Luffy first offers to help her run away and join the Straw Hats, mainly because of her reputation as the World Government’s perfect little propaganda machine. She thinks that Lark might genuinely believe all the things she sings about, and for a little bit she’s not exactly sure that Lark joining the crew isn’t some kind of ploy for the World Government to infiltrate pirate society. But eventually she realizes just how used Lark has been her entire life and how much she honestly wanted to get away (something she herself can relate to, even if that isn’t revealed until later), and though they never exactly become best friends, Lark does become someone Nami respects and whose back she will always have in a fight.

Usopp — Usopp thinks Lark is super cool from the first moment he meets her. As a storyteller himself, he really admires her songwriting skills once she feels brave enough to show the other Straw Hats her notebooks, and might even try to convince her to make a song out of one of his crazy Captain Usopp stories. He also teaches her how to use a slingshot when she asks, which is a fun bonding experience for them, and overall the two of them become really cool, funny storytelling besties.

Zoro — Zoro does not really respect Lark at all at first, mainly because she has zero fighting skills and he doesn’t understand why Luffy would allow her to join the crew when she’d be useless in a fight. Eventually, though, he starts to realize how strong and determined she truly is, two qualities he can’t help but respect, and he becomes so fond of her witty jokes and the little songs she makes up when she’s just doing things around the ship, even though he’d never admit it. He makes a promise to himself to do his best to protect her, and he keeps it even after Sanji teaches her to fight (and even though he always gets so annoyed when she refuses to get rid of her pretty dresses and get some clothes more practical for fighting, and then she still manages to fight really well in those dresses).

Sanji — Now, when I tell you that Sanji thinks of Lark as the best person in the world, I am very much not kidding. He’s been head over heels for her since that first moment he sees her sing at Baratie, and he doesn’t really see that changing anytime soon, even after they get together. He would do anything for Lark, would give everything to keep her safe and happy, especially after everything she’s already been through, and he spends a lot of his time being grateful that she feels the same way about him. (She’s even the only Straw Hat he trusts to even stand beside him in the kitchen and hand him ingredients, which is the ultimate sign of just how much he loves her.)

please talk to me about luffy as the hero and law as the antihero and their PARALLEL

i'm not smart enough to come up with an interesting theory but here goes: (I'm sorry if this is too long and not at all what you asked lmao)

umm, first of all i don't see luffy as the hero so we don't have enough for a parallel. he barely considers himself a good person (which he is) and this is confirmed by his selfish attitudes and impulsiveness throughout the chapters. everything he does is for himself and helping other people is almost like a side effect (?) (not that he doesn't want to help people, he does it all the time, but never because he has to, which is basically the definition of a hero) so this is luffy. everything in the story revolves around what he wants and what happens when he doesn't get what he wants.

on the other hand, we have law. he appears in luffy's life as someone who wants to take advantage of the ''innocence'' of our captain (hilarious) but is dragged into the strawhats mess, ending up always doing what luffy wants and being lucky that they (kinda) have the same goals.

i could see law as the anti-hero of the story of course, he has a tragic past, cool looks, selfish goals, is ambitious... well, basically a pirate. but what's interesting to me about him is the way he sees luffy. law was introduced to us as someone seeking revenge and smart enough to create complex plans to get what he wants. when he decided to ally with the strawhats, he probably thought that luffy's stubbornness would be useful, in addition to his obvious strength. but I really doubt he would have guessed that luffy would go that far for him. i doubt he thought anyone would.

In the battle against doflamingo, law probably didn't care (and maybe even hope) to die, and would die happy as long as he took doflamingo with him. he even kept his crew away when that happened so that no one he loved would watch him die. he did not expect and did not want to be saved. but that's irrelevant to luffy who saved him anyway. and that's what I like most about their dynamic. of course luffy deeply appreciates his friendships and law is no exception. but here's the thing: luffy did for law what he would do for anyone (he knows enough to care about) in trouble, his motivations are never deep or false, so he didn't even think twice about it. while for law, what happened between them permanently changed who he is as a person. he couldn't die anymore because that would leave him eternally in debt, which forced him to stay alive (he was emotionally in hell). law doesn't understand how luffy's brain works, he doesn't have zoro's blind devotion or robin's eternal gratitude but as someone extremely proud, he feels he needs to return the favor, not by fighting alongside him, luffy already has enough people, but by staying alive. and this makes me extremely sad because law is a character doomed by the narrative since the start and who spent a large part of his life wanting to die and just when someone offers him a reason to want to live, things just may end at any moment.

so I don't see them as people who share the same dreams and beliefs in opposite ways, or even as rivals (fine they officially are rivals but if you ask to law's heart... pls they are soulmates) they are friends and they care a lot about each other and that's it. law doesn't really mind that luffy doesn't save his love just for him (... I think) and luffy will always make him wants to live another day. but i also really believe that luffy is the biggest hero and inspiration in law's life and the child within him (the not broken and ruined nerd who read comics, and dreamed of a world where heroes always save the day from villains and make sure you will be ok) would love to meet the future pirate king.

my favorite straw hats ranked :3

01 robin - she is genuinely just so unbelievably well written, her concept as a character is insane, but my favorite trait of hers is how she thinks so similarly to luffy. this place is also interchangeable w luffy

02 luffy - i normally don’t like main characters this much, but luffy is just so likable, i love his backstory so much, and having him be the emotional core of the paramount war saga + him losing ace is a stroke of genius. one of the best written characters literally ever

03 zoro - he’s cool as fuck and his tits are the biggest on the whole crew

04 nami - her character arc in east blue is so perfect, and seeing her be so happy in the straw hats is just amazing. her character interactions with the rest of the straw hats are so entertaining, her faith in luffy (like w her fight against ulti) is undying, and the fact she is so frightened yet so brave is super cool. she normally gets very afraid by the situations luffys antics get them into, but when things get serious, she knows she can’t stop luffy and suddenly gets very brave. i love her

05 usopp - i hope after elbaf this ranking will be a bit higher, but having such a human character in contrast to literal gods like luffy is so cool. his bravery and character moments are peak, water 7 in particular might have the single most emotional and realistic moment in one piece with his argument and fight with luffy. i just wish he had more character moments post time skip. the only time he really had a standout moment was dressrosa and i hope elbaf can give him some needed character development

06 sanji - he would be so much higher, maybe top 3, but the whole “pervert” gimmick sucks and i hate it. not only is his backstory amazing in east blue, but he is SO CLUTCH ALWAYS. he is constantly making super important decisions behind the scenes and saving everyone constantly. mr prince in alabasta, sea train in water 7, not to mention his importance being the cook of the straw hats. his backstory was already good enough, but then he got a SECOND ONE in whole cake, one of the best arcs in the whole series. one of my favorite moments of his is when he was kidnapped by black maria in wano and asked robin for help, his sheer faith in robin makes me so happy. his emotional moments are incredible, his fight scenes are amazing, the only issue is how annoying the “perverted” gimmick is.

07 franky - SUPER!!! he’s just so fun, his personality and dynamic with the whole crew is amazing. him being a cyborg and everybody being so enamored with his silly mechanics is an incredible bit. him being able to press on his nose to change hairstyles, and his massive hands post time skip having smaller hands inside of them is hilarious. the moment with robin and the big robot transformation on thriller bark where she rejects their transformation is one of the best jokes in the whole series. he doesn’t have too many emotional moments besides his backstory and his fight with senor pink (incredible fight btw) but he’s one of my favorites because of just how fun he is

08 jinbei - jinbei is kind of tied with franky, i love him but he has only really been a straw hat for like 1-2 arcs. him being so nice and noble is amazing, his relationship with nami and feeling guilty for arlongs actions, and his backstory with fisher tiger is absolutely phenomenal, i just wish there was more of him. he hasn’t had too many defining character moments as an actual straw hat besides showing no fear in front of big mom (but even then he wasn’t really a straw hat at the time). i love him as a character i love him though

09 brook - brook is also just a super fun character, his skeleton puns never get old, and his moments on whole cake and wano were COLD (literally). calling big mom “young lady” is a moment for history books and him actually getting the road poneglyph is amazing. his backstory is tragic, maybe the saddest on the whole crew, and him being a musician makes me very happy (as a musician). he is a great character but he also has the “pervert” gimmick which kinda sucks. it’s definitely less bad than sanji though, it doesn’t really interfere with his character much, he just blushes and asks to see women’s panties (asking to see big moms panties is insane btw) and it’s definitely a big character flaw, but it’s not as irritating as with sanji.

10 chopper - chopper is the only straw hat i’m kinda disappointed by. he’s a great character, but as a straw hat he barely has any defining moments. his personality is kinda basic, and the last really impactful moment for me was monster point on enies lobby. the interesting thing about monster point is that he can’t control it, and then he only uses it like one more time for a tiny bit on sabaody before he gains control of it over the time skip. other than that, he’s just kind of a nice person with a really sad backstory. this feels a bit too harsh on him, i do really like him as a character, but for being one of the main characters, he is a little lackluster.

he scoffs, “and zoro’s tits were definitely not my gay awakening.” sanji reaches for your hand, rubbing his thum agbainst your wrist, “thank you for telling me.” he looks at you with a soft smile that makes your heart melt, “i’m glad you’ve found this piece of you.”

“me too.” you say, trying not to let your voice crack. even with how supportive sanji’s being, it’s still a lot to say out loud, “it feels good.”

sanji brings your hand to his lips, and presses a soft kiss to your knuckles, “that’s all i want for you.”

Monkey D. Luffy

cocks his head, ‘what’s that?’

after you explain he takes a moment to let it sink it and then shrugs, ‘sounds good!’

asks you if you want to go get something to eat to celebrate

but even as you’re eating, he’s still a little worried about something

“you’re still my nakama though, right?”

you blink, “i mean, as long as you’ll have me.”

“shishishi! course i will!” he takes his hat off and plops it on your head, “even after i’m pirate king!” luffy loves when you’re wearing his hat, that way he can see two of his most important things right in front of him, “you’re with me forever.” he tightens the strings up to your chin.

you raise a brow, “gonna hold the whole crew hostage?”

“maybe.” luffy shrugs, “but you’re different. you’re mine.”

“oh am i?”

“course! and i’m yours!” luffy pauses, “i am, right?”

you smile, resting your cheek in your palm as luffy stares at you, still scarfing down his food, “yeah, you are.”

Portgas D. Ace

probably the most experienced with understanding gender, has met lots of people that identify lots of ways

has the widest smile when you tell him

knows what it’s like to hide parts of yourself and is glad you feel comfortable to be your true self with him

“i love that for you.” ace pulls you flush against his chest and presses a kiss to your lips, “how do you feel about pronouns? is it okay if i still call you babe? what about other names? hotstuff is pretty gender neutral, although that’s probably better for me. hey, can you start calling me hotstuff?”

you laugh as the words tumble from his mouth. all the nervousness you had a minute ago has left your body and was replaced with the lightness that’s usually accompanied around ace, “how about we take this one day at a time?”

ace nods his head like an excited puppy, “whatever you want.” another kiss, but when he pulls back this time there’s a soft and seriousness to his face, “i’ll always love you, so don’t hide yourself from me, got it?”

you nod, feeling tears well in your eyes as you bury your face against his warm chest, “you either.” you whisper, unsure what else to say.

“deal.” ace pauses, “then did i ever tell you gold rogers was my father?”

“what.”

Trafalgar D. Law

he’s a doctor, knows better than anyone the body is just a body, and identity is independent of it

law grabs you hand, squeezing your fingers tightly, “i mean it.” he says in a low voice, “you’re perfect, and don’t ever think anything else.”

you feel your throat getting a little tight at the seriousness of his expression. law isn’t an overtly emotional person, so anytime he’s wearing his heart on his sleeve is usually for a good reason.

“thank you.” you’re able to whisper before he pulls you tightly against his chest.

Reacting to Reader’s Braces Headcanons

I took a break from my event to create this extremely self-indulgent and rushed headcanons since I finally got my braces off! I have a very strong dislike for my retainer now but it will grow on me :’) Anyway this is comfort for me since my mouth is in pain lol.

One Piece Characters Reacting to Reader getting braces vs. getting them off!

One Piece Characters x Reader (Gender-Neutral/Nonbinary)

*I just did the Straw Hats, Law, Marco, Ace, and Thatch for this! (I did not add Jinbei as a straw hat since I am still not all the way caught up)

Warnings: This is long, Fluff- The characters reacting can be considered platonic/romantic- I will have any romantic (kissing) headcanons in bold. Except Chopper. He is strictly platonic because he is baby.

This is their normal One Piece world since I was a bit curious how they would react since I imagine that if there are dentists/orthodontists in their world it would be rare or only in like huge cities like Water 7.

FLAKSDSA Honestly just imagine Reader leaves the crew once in a while to go get their adjustments done or something lmfao. We ignore logic for this one. Only care about the reactions XD

Monkey D. Luffy:

When he firsts sees the metal in your mouth he is curious!

He will be in utter awe or laugh if he thinks they look funny (which of course makes Reader’s confidence plummet lol unless you laugh with him)

May call you a robot

He wants to know why they are shaped around your teeth- It is not like the gold or silver teeth that other pirates have that accompany missing teeth

This is weird for him since your teeth seem to be trying to look straight?

When you explain the reasoning of braces to him he is even more puzzled but excited for you!

He is not sure you really need them since he likes your smile regardless but he is happy if you are happy!

As for when you get them off- He is in awe that the braces did their job! And now you get to wear this weird plastic thing in your mouth

How the heck did you even get it in there?

He has no clue what a dentist/orthodontist is so he will just call them mouth doctor and think Chopper is the one helping you lol

Kissing with them on is also a weird experience for him! (I really hate to say it but he will love if you do not clean them very well. It makes him surprised but happy if he tastes food on them alfdjaslkf I HATE THIS lol)

He likes the way the metal feels when he explores your mouth but hopefully he is not a harsh kisser- You fear something will break if he really wanted to flakdfa

When you get your braces off he is in even more shock! That is so cool! Your smile is straight now! But now you got this weird plastic thing in your mouth... He does not mind he is just forgets you wear it since it is clear!

Luffy honestly does not care what you look like smile wise from before or after. He has no preference. He only cares that you are happy with your smile!

Roronoa Zoro:

“What the hell is in your mouth?”

THIS MAN BATHES ONCE A WEEK SO I WOULD ASSUME THAT IS THE SAME WITH HIS DENTAL HYGIENE?! I really hope not. I hope he cares for his mouth and will pretend he does now falksdfja

Anyway, he sees the metal and he is confused but once you explain it, he really does not care anymore

“Oh, cool, I guess.”

If you are partners though- He will be intrigued how kissing you would be. He takes the chance and decides it is an experience for sure tasting the metal in your mouth. (May remind of blood so he pretty cool with it alfdjalk)

Speaking of blood- If something ends up poking him or cutting him... He will enjoy it to the max tbh however if it is you that is hurt he will cease all kissing and only go for pecks until later

When you get them off I think he would miss tasting the metal

When you get your braces off he does not notice at first... It takes a few smiles before he goes... “Wait a minute...”

Then it hits him!

He will smile and be happy if he notices that being braceless brings you confidence with your new smile!

Nami:

SHE NOTICES THEM IMMEDIATELY AND SHE LIKES THEM

Nami is huge on hygiene so I think she would love to know more about dental hygiene and the concept of braces

She is understanding with your diet restrictions and will scold anyone who gives you weird looks or tries to get you to eat something you should not

She is your go-to for this since she also wants to see the end result as perfect

She is tad worried in the kissing department- Not wanting to mess your braces up since she knows how much effort goes into them but she also worried about her safety and if a wire or lose bracket will poke her or worse you. So she sticks to gentle kisses until they are off

She actually goes with you to your orthodontist to see how they take them off and to be there for you

She is happy with and for you upon seeing the end result!

and now her kisses can be harder >///<

Usopp:

As a tinkerer he will notice and also be intrigued. He has never seen braces (like Luffy and Zoro) and has never heard of them

He asks so many questions

Luffy, Zoro, and him are the ones who forget your diet restrictions which causes much irritation on your side. You will constantly glare at them for offering foods or drinks you can’t have

Usopp will eventually start remembering and be considerate on your behalf

When he kisses you he is soft and gentle- Not wanting to hurt you or himself. If he tastes blood he will pass out in fear just because he will blame himself and think he hurt you. He is too sweet :’)

As soon as your braces are off he will ask SO MANY QUESTIONS about the retainer like how was it made and such? Does it feel weird?

He is just so intrigued by it and of course- It makes you smile even more.

Sanji:

Tbh I feel like he would have had them as a kid or wanted them if his dad cared enough aldfjakl

Also notices them immediately

He will actually cater to your diet needs/restrictions because he knows how much they mean to you if you are going through such a time consuming thing to get your teeth fixed

Besides that he is just a friend you can go to if you are in mouth pain- He will make something soft for you every time you go for an adjustment or tea to help sooth your mouth

If you are kissing on the other hand- If homeboy does not pass out first he will be so gentle. He is terrified of hurting you or making you uncomfortable with your braces on (and lowkey is the same way even if you get them off- You will have to be the one to make the first move)

When you get them off- It is a food celebration! Whatever you missed eating or that you could not eat he will make it all for you!

He does notice if you are smile more and if you are more confident with your new smile! : )

Tony Tony Chopper:

HE IS YOUR BEST FRIEND DURING YOUR BRACES TIME.

He will constantly worry about any mouth pains and since he is a doctor is intrigued how someone labeled as a doctor for teeth does their jobs

He will asks questions constantly and write about your journey with this

10/10 cutie and best buddy for this

Make sure he is stocked on simple pain meds for you

Nico Robin:

She notices them but does not say anything or ask questions unless you want to talk about

She is sweet and looks out for you

Makes sure Sanji helps with your diet restrictions

Besides that she does not notice much or ask much

She is just happy that you are doing this for yourself

Her kisses concerning this are always gentle. She refuses to risk anything with you until after your braces are gone. Only then will she let herself become more heated with kisses.

After your braces she will always compliment your smile (and tell you it was beautiful before too but notes how confident you are)

Cyborg Franky:

“WHOA THAT IS SUPPPPPERRRR!”

He likes them.

That is all.

Okay but seriously. As a man who completely turned himself into a machine in the front he has mad respect for you for putting metal in your mouth. Like that concept is wild to him since the mouth is so sensitive (yet he also can blow flames out his mouth due to working on it aldfjal)

He will refuse to kiss you since he knows how is strength and hard kisses can damage your brackets/wires so he refuses anything until after they are safely off.

Besides that after your braces are off and you have your retainer on (He honestly didn’t notice the retainer lol) He will go “You have a SUPERRRR smile!”

Brook:

Brook honestly does notice them at first but he does not say anything until you do

Cue his jokes: “I NOTICE THE METAL IN YOUR TEETH WITH MY EYES BUT WAIT I DO NOT HAVE ANY EYES YOHOHOHO”

Besides that he is not that interested in them

For kissing though he also refuses to do so since he is straight up a skeleton. He does not want to risk his bone breaking ANYTHING. Though he will peck your cheek. Even after you get them off he is hesitant since he is a skeleton- That does not mean he will not try. If you ask he will get flustered and be gentle for you

When you get your braces off- Brook may tease you and say your teeth are almost as straight as his! And remind you constantly that he is a skeleton adlfjakl

Trafalgar Law:

Is just a king- I should stop all headcanons here alfdkaldks

He knows what braces are and is not that interested in the work only because he prefers his medicinal studies that are more morbid than the mouth

However, he is very observational still and notes how you care for them and what your diet is

For kissing- He acts like he does not care but he is gentle and careful when things gets heated. He is actually a big softie so he will do everything to avoid ruining your braces that would involve a setback.

After you get your braces off he also notices how much more confident you are. How much brighter your smile is because of that

Besides that- He does not make a big deal out of it

Marco the Phoenix:

He and the Whitebeard pirates have been nearly everywhere and met all kinds of people so he is not that surprised when he notices that you have braces

He has seen them before so not a big deal

Much like Law, Marco will not make a big deal out of it

However, if you both are close to each other he may tease you whenever you develop a lisp or when are embarrassed after an adjustment.

Either way he means it with a good heart

God- Kisses with Marco when you have braces are so, so, so, gentle. He is the king of kisses no matter what. He is careful but he sure as hell will not let the metal win when you both get heated. So he knows how to maneuver around your mouth with his tongue >///<

When you get your braces off- It is a celebration with the whole crew. Marco helps plan it and of course takes photos of your smile afterwards since you have every right to be proud of your smile

He will always comment on how your smile is brighter

Portgas D. Ace:

Also with Marco (and Thatch) he is rather used to seeing different kinds of people with different situations so he is not surprised to see metal in your mouth

However when you get close to him he does ask questions and get intrigued

He only teases you when you have some trouble speaking a few words but besides that- He is also respectful and does not think much of the braces

Though since he is one that eats all the time he tries to be considerate for you since he knows that it can be frustrating with your diet restrictions

If you are in a relationship with him he actually is not confident in kissing you with your braces. It is because he cares so much about you and because of his self-loathing- He would HATE if he messed up your braces so he is cautious and tries not to push anything until after you get your braces off

When your braces comes off homeboy is going to dine-and-dash with you EVERYWHERE

Thatch-

Like the other two- Thatch is used to this kind of thing so he is not surprised

Since he is the culinary chef for the Whitebeard Pirates you bet your butt he will have better foods for you to suit your needs

He is also teasing like the others and may take it a far sometimes but he will remind you that you are good with or without braces!

He constantly makes sure you are doing fine though since he is aware of how the other whitebeard pirates may not be as considerate as he is

Kisses with Thatch are gentle but I think if it gets too heated he may forget that he is supposed to be gentle. He definitely ends up tearing up his tongue on the metal if this is the case and he feels bad if you feel bad- If not he will laugh it off and continue if you want

After you get your braces off- He will check with what you want to celebrate! What kind foods you have to eat first and you get the honor of taking the first bite!

OKAY LAST BUT NOT LEAST HERE IS A LIST ON WHO WOULD MAKE SURE YOU ACTUALLY WEAR YOUR RETAINER :’):

Would forget you you wear a retainer so they would not be helpful as a reminder: Luffy, Zoro, Franky, Brook, Ace

Remembers then forgets after a while: Usopp and Thatch

Makes you wear your retainer as instructed and will give you a death glare (out of love of course) if you are not doing so: Nami, Robin, Sanji, Chopper, and Marco

Will make sure you wear your retainer even though he says he does not care, and will murder your soul if you do not do so (out of love but he will lie about it): Law

How They Kiss

Monkey D. Luffy

Boy is a sloppy kisser. Expect some of his spit to be on your face. It’s not his fault, he just thinks kissing is similar to eating, and we know how he eats! He’s definitely up to learning though and wants to find new ways to keep you on your toes.

Doesn’t get jealous too easily, but if he does don’t expect him to kiss you; he more likely will pout and and glare at the person. You will have to go over to him and initiate a kiss to calm the monkey down.

Is totally fine with PDA though and will love an s/o who likes physical affection (the boy just loves to hug!). So if you ask for a kiss while on deck or in town, who is he to deny you?

Will definitely kiss you when you two go separate ways or go to sleep. Luffy didn’t get much affection growing up, so getting an s/o means he can share all his affection without anyone denying him.

Kisses just makes this boy happy.

Roronoa Zoro

He’s definitely a shy/awkward kisser. Where does he put his hands? How long are you supposed to kiss for? You can use your tongue for what?! Boy doesn’t know and it scares him.

He’s also worried the others will tease him (especially a blond cook) and that’s the last thing he wants. If s/o is physically affectionate, Zoro is going to lose it. Oh you want a kiss? Oh someone just called my name sorry bye!

Now get this man drunk and he won’t mind you kissing him, he actually is a good kisser when he isn’t thinking about it or worried about what others think. Will be a more lazy kisser and will let you dominate the kiss if you are up to it.

Will always be red after a kissing session (sober or not), boy just can’t get over someone as pretty as s/o wants to kiss him.

Vinsmoke Sanji

Would probably die from blood loss if s/o ever asked or initiated a kiss with him. So a bloody kisser? He knows the basics of kissing and has kissed another person before. But he still gets nervous when kissing s/o, because they are just so perfect he might mess up and make them hate kissing forever!

Has and still does practice kissing with a picture of s/o on his pillow, do not question it! Would so be willing to try new things with s/o and just wants s/o to keep kissing him.

In public he might freak out the people over him bleeding than him actually kissing s/o, so he might be against it for his own wellbeing if it gets too much for the cook.

Loves when s/o gives him small pecks more than full on make out sessions, they seem more intimate to him and make his day seem more sunnier than before.

Portgas D. Ace

A casual kisser for sure! Loves pecks and kisses on cheeks over anything else. I could also see him being a shoulder/forehead kisser too (especially if s/o is shorter than him)!

He’s also a type to kiss when leaving somewhere, just a quick peck and he’s off. It lets him know s/o is wishing him luck and is waiting for his return!

Was so nervous for his first kiss! Similar to Zoro (but got better-), he just didn’t know what to do or how to act afterwards. Was legit stoned face with red cheeks trying to act cool.

Would totally make fun of others for kissing in public, but if others make fun of him be prepared for revenge!

Sabo

The best out of everyone for kissing! Like wow boy, who is you? I think it has something to do with his free spirit attitude; there is no worries or fear involved with kissing for him.

Would also be okay with kissing in public or in front of friends, and just laughs it off when his friends make fun of him for it. I can also see him wanting s/o initiating the kisses because he has no chill so he doesn’t want to put s/o in a situation where they feel awkward/insecure; kissing should be fun!

It would be really hard to get him to blush. Catch him off guard? He’ll laugh it off. Kiss his forehead? He will smile sweetly and go about his day. I feel the only time s/o could get him to blush is to compliment him in between kisses. Just a little “You’re so sweet/good to me/amazing” and boy doesn’t know how to act anymore.

Trafalgar D. Water Law

He has two moods when it comes to kissing: smug as shit and awkward as shit. There is no in-between! He likes make-out time more than pecks just because it helps ease his mind and distract him from his stressors. That doesn’t mean he won’t give s/o a peck, but he rather just be alone with s/o enjoying their time together.

Was physically touch-starved after losing Cora-san and didn’t know it until he got with s/o. Now when he gets done with the day he just wants to lay back and kiss/touch s/o.

Now the awkward part comes into play if you surprise him or if you initiate the kiss in public. Boy needs to be prepared for these things, s/o can’t just throw these things on him! But it’s also really cute too see his blushing embarrassed face afterwards, so go for it s/o!

Eustass “Captain” Kid

Messy kisser version 2!! Boy will also be a biter, so uh, good luck s/o! Will definitely be the one to leave s/o a blushing mess (no matter how kinky they are).

Doesn’t give two shits about what others think so if s/o wants to kiss in public, s/o is getting a kiss in public (and a hickey, and swollen lips, and some messy hair), did they kiss or was that something else?

Once alone though, s/o should never initiate a kiss unless they want something more. Boy gets turned on over anything s/o does, so s/o should be nice and help a guy out.

Doesn’t understand that you can just peck someone and leave, like why do that when he can take them to his room and have his fun? People are so prude-
