Son casi las cuatro de la tarde, En el semáforo, un hombre delgado habla con su perro y una chica rubia con el pelo envuelto en una bufanda rosa espera que se apague la bombilla roja para cruzar. Este es el otoño: esta luz, las cosas, las casas, los postes y sobre todo las fuentes tienen una vez en el año su propio color. Parece que veo por primera vez. Que acabo de recuperar la visión. La luz no arroja sombras, no intensifica el color, la luz no vienen de ninguna parte, sencillamente está en cada lugar. El semáforo pasa a verde, el perro huele algo con deleite, la chica se gira, el péndulo de su pelo gira de aquí para allá. El tiempo. Si miro por la ventana veo pasar el tiempo, va de un lugar a otro, vuelve a pasar. No se mueve hacia adelante, o en una dirección, es más bien un remolino, una estrella de mil puntas. Quizás en el semáforo deja de existir: un punto cero donde el tiempo sólo se cruza, se corta, se vuelve a interrumpir. Multitudes llegan hasta aquí sobre el lomo del tiempo, unos antes, otros después. El fluido se corta, se angosta; este punto, aquí, este andén, en esta ciudad, es el cuello interior del reloj de arena del mundo. Aquí, justo aquí, el tiempo cambia de dirección. Y es por eso que puedo mirar, casi tocar eslabón por eslabón, como se ensarta en el instante que sigue. ¿Cómo es que fui a dar afuera del tiempo? ¿En qué punto exacto me bajé del tren? El mundo se acerca y se aleja como en un video de vigilancia de un centro comercial. Alguien adelanta la cinta, la observa a toda velocidad.
