hello, aria! i hope you've been well :D! will you and aqua be doing anything special for valentine's day?
Hello, Nil!! Thank you so much for stopping by; I hope that you’ve been alright as well!
Umm.. well, my morning began with Aqua, so to speak, because I saw a very lovely artwork of her just after I woke up. So that was very nice. I have also been wearing my necklace that has a miniature replica of her Wayfinder on it, which I always enjoy doing. So, in that regard, I’ve had her with me all day ^-^
In terms of what we would do together within the setting of KH.. well, Valentine’s Day was a thing in the age of fairytales, so I definitely think it will have continued to be celebrated, especially given the theme of the day being so based around love for others, and the heart motifs that are the same shape as Kingdom Hearts itself. So, I think it would have been nice to spend a really special day together in each other’s company, away from any particular obligations as Keyblade wielders - I’d love it if it was almost like the whole day is one big long date ^-^
I hope that this is alright as an answer to your question! I’d really love to hear about anything that you might be doing with your own F/Os, as well~ and, thank you so much again for asking me this in the first place! I always really appreciate seeing you around~

Disadvantage of being back at uni: means lessons are starting again which means the times I can be active to talk to friends is much more limited
Advantages of being back at uni: I can wear my Aqua and Pyra necklace again ^-^

Skuld: "She looks very kind." Aria: "Hehe, I agree. Whoever this is - or, I suppose, will be? - seems to be a kind individual. ..I have to admit that she is very pretty, as well." (Not that I'll ever get to meet her, of course.. ..I can't help but wonder what that could be like.)
Here is my piece for today, which is the twenty-seventh day of the month! I actually did most of this back on Saturday, but I knew I wouldn't be able to work on anything today, so I scheduled it for today. It's part of a conversation that was RPed on the KHUX and Dark Road server on Discord, but this shows a bit more of Aria's perspective on the whole thing. I hope it's alright! ^-^
Tag list: @catake | @vampking | @wazzuppy | @cherry-bomb-ships | @call--me--home | @xenobabble | @beeon | @coralward | @crosshairswife | @pandapup | @altamont498 | @mercuryships | @lemonloven (to be tagged in what I make, please see this post!)
Comments on and reblogs of my work are always okay, and appreciated, but are by no means required! Also, if you'd like to know more of the context here, then please look under the readmore.
So! To explain what's going on here, this shows a conversation that Aria had with some others during the age of fairytales, which I and some others acted out on the server last week. Aria was talking to Skuld as well as Nyx (who is off-screen), and showing Nyx one of the Medals that she had to hand. That's why her Keyblade is summoned, specifically in its Diamond Dust-like form because that mode is magic-focused - the menu where you equip Medals to Keyblades in the game had each Keyblade's keychain in the centre of its carousel of slots, so that's where Aria took the Medal she's holding out of.
In this case, it was a Medal depicting Aqua - for context, the Medals used in KHUX are physical objects that allow Keyblade wielders in the age of fairytales to harness the powers of important and powerful people from the distant future (i.e. the time period most of the other games in the series take place in), in order to fight the Heartless. As you can see, Aria has found Aqua attractive since seeing what she looks like in Medals every now and then, although she evidently never expected to actually meet her in-person, considering that (to Aria at the time) Aqua was from a distant future.
However, because Aria became trapped in the realm of darkness, she was able to survive to the present time when Aqua and everyone else are alive, because time does not flow properly within the realm of darkness. And eventually, she ended up meeting Aqua after all, because Aqua herself also became trapped in the dark and Aria flew in to rescue her from a swarm of Heartless. Incidentally, our first meeting face-to-face was what my first ever piece of selfship writing was about, and if you'd like to read it then it is written in this document!
I hope that that clears things up for anyone who may have been confused! Thank you very much for taking the time to read all of this, it really means a lot to me ^-^

HII OMG i had to follow for the soul calibur and kingdom hearts ships!!! also you seem pretty cool!!! :D if it isn't too much trouble, could you tell me more about your ship with aqua? i love her sm! (kittyandco)
hello!!! thank you thank you! it's great to see you here ajdhqkdjw I love so many of your ships and have been following for a while! i'm a huge marvel fan and hux is a character i like a lot too and there's so many f/os of yours that i recognize! soulcal is so special to me since some of my earliest memories are of me playing it! as a result, I've been with my guy for a while- what a guy, am I right? 😍
i'm always down to talk about my aqua! I also love her sm if i do say so myself- this might end up being a little long but here we gooooo!
okay so. Ash is another Keyblade wielder raised by Master E.raqus! He found her after she was orphaned so she sees him as a fatherly figure. She's just a few months older than Aqua and a little younger than Terra. She dresses in mostly all red (her and Aqua are the red and blue couple!!!!) and has those chest straps the other wayfinder trio folk do as well.
She became a Keyblade master before Aqua did (though not very long before- just a few weeks) and she's very good at what she does! She wears a long red coat. I wanted her to look cool and important which is why her outfit is like that.
I hope you like the childhood best friends to lovers trope because that's exactly what happens! These two have been together since they were children. They were always together. No matter what. Always together, hand in hand, giggling and laughing and training and talking. It isn't until their teenage years where Ash goes "... Oh. Oh."
Ash has it bad. She's so horribly in love with her best friend. Terra knows, Ven knows, Dad knows, they all know- It's so obvious! As a kid, she always wanted to be with Aqua, but as she grew older, those cute little giggles turned into longing glances.
Ash often calls Aqua "Berry", a nickname from when they were kids. Ash was red... Aqua was blue... Like a blueberry! So she's Berry for short. She always called Aqua that when they were little, and it stuck! So you can sometimes see her call Aqua "berry"!
Just imagine a little Ash and Aqua when they were small.
"You're Aqua.. and I'm Ash!"
"You're red, and I'm blue!"
"You're like water... But I'm like fire!"
And little Aqua giggles,
"Hey, we match! We're meant to be, right?"
"Yeah, that's right! Ash and Aqua, we'll be best friends forever and ever!"
Anyways, Ash said that she'd finally confess after years of pining after they're all Masters, but... haha... ha... (looks at birth by sleep). She doesn't take the end of the game very well.
(Oh and more appearance details! Ash has brown skin and eyes and black hair like I do. Her coat is red and her shirt under is black. Her straps are green. Her Keyblade is green too. Her hair is long, but tied in a ponytail with a white ribbon. The ribbon was a gift from Eraqus when she was younger.)
Like with the others, Aqua makes a wayfinder for Ash. Ash's is red, just like her coat. But Ash refuses to take it. She laughs, saying that her and Aqua are so close that they don't need this to be together. And so, for all of BBS, Aqua carries two Wayfinders.
But at the end, right before she falls into darkness, Aqua asks for Ash's hand and gives her a blue Wayfinder.
"Aqua..." "Keep it. I'll always be by your side, okay?"
So for all of Ash's appearances until they reunite in 3, Ash carries a blue Wayfinder from her belt. However, that also means that Aqua carries a red Wayfinder in 0.2
Tumblr media
It makes moments like these a little more emotional. She thinks of Ash whenever she looks at that. Ash is what keeps her going throughout the darkness. Her best friend, the woman that she loves.
And then... At the end of BBS... Aqua falls into darkness. And Ash is forced to watch. The last thing Aqua hears is Ash begging and screaming, pleading for the darkness to please just take her instead. Anything, she'd give up anything to save Aqua.
Ash punches at the ground again and again till her knuckles bleed the same red as the Wayfinder Aqua always held onto, casts every single spell she knows. She doesn't care about how much it hurts. She just wanted to save Aqua.
... And she failed. Aqua doesn't come back.
Ash's hands are scarred from all that, and every single one of those scars are a reminder that she failed. She has bandages around her hands.
For ten years, she is alone. Eraqus is gone, her best friend Terra is gone, Ven is gone... And Aqua is gone. Her light is gone. Ash spends ten years by herself, wandering worlds and imagining what it would be like to see Aqua again. She loves her so much..
Ash can be seen wandering worlds in 2. Sora tries to talk to her, seeing that she's a Keyblade wielder. But Ash tells him to leave. She doesn't care about anything that doesn't have to do with Aqua. She doesn't even have it in her to be a boss fight.
But yeah. For ten years, we get mean and sad Ash. After Mickey sees Aqua, he tracks down Ash. Ash agrees to help them because she wants to see Aqua again. So we see her work with Riku and Yen Sid and Mickey and all those losers later. She's a little serious and quiet (which is wild, since she's a goofy and bright jokester with Aqua!)
Her and Riku also develop a sibling type bond. She's the cool big sister to him. Riku picks up on Ash always playing with the blue Wayfinder she carried on her.
And then a bunch of stuff happens and she's the one who has to fight Anti-Aqua. It horrifies her and she's crying for the whole fight.
"Please, Aqua... I-I can't... Don't make me do this..."
"You left me here. You abandoned me. You never came me."
"Aqua, please... I did everything I could!"
And when Aqua finally comes back, Ash is tackling her in a hug. They're both sobbing, clinging to each other with all they have. Aqua has always felt like home to Ash. Ash was home. She was finally home. Aqua cries, saying that she never stopped thinking about Ash.
You know how in 0.2 Aqua looks up at the sky sometimes? Ash looks up at the stars a lot too. Reminds me of the days when her and younger Aqua would stay up and laugh together under the stars.
A little while after they reunite, they kiss. They've always been so close, and sometimes just... snaps. And they both confess that they've been in love with each other for a long, long time. And yeah! For the rest of 3, you can see them kissing and holding hands and being really cute. They're a very adorable couple (if I do say so myself hehe)!
Also, Ash is afraid of taking off her bandages around Aqua at first. Her scars are ugly. Her scars are a reminder of how she wasn't enough. She wants to be the perfect woman for Aqua, and Aqua shouldn't have to see that side of her. But Aqua tells Ash that she loves Ash for who she is, and her hands are beautiful, no matter how many scars are on them. Aqua kisses them often.
Also, Ash sometimes refers to Aqua as "my heart" and Aqua refers to Ash as "my light". In a world of darkness, thoughts of Ash was all Aqua had. Her bright smile, loud laugh, all of it... Ash was her light. And a heart is supposed to be Ash's guiding key, right? Well, Ash's heart always found its way back to Aqua. Aqua is her heart.
There's a lot more to this ship and I've written soooo damn much for them, but that's pretty much what you need to know about them! They're the red/blue Keyblade gfs!!!! They're so in love! Best friends (and even more than that) forever!
Ash is pretty sassy and humorous, and can sometimes be a bit of a flirt (only towards Aqua). It makes Aqua blush. Aqua is just the sweetest person alive- It's adorable how she's the only person who can fluster Ash. They love each other so much. Ten years without each other wasn't easy. Ash isn't used to having anyone around again, and Aqua isn't used to the light. But that's okay. They have each other, right?
Oh! Also! When they reunite, they finally trade Wayfinders again. Red for Ash, blue for Aqua.
This is mostly Ash/Aqua focused, but she's cool big sis to Ven, and sassy daughter (who loves him lots) to Eraqus. She didn't like Terra as a kid, but as they grew up together, they've gotten extremely close and care for each other deeply. However, Ash likes to pick on him a lot. She calls him an idiot a lot, but she cares about him, I promise! He was also one of the first to go "hey, Ash, youre down bad for your bestie aren't you-"
Thank you for this ask!!!

Friend in Our Hearts Chapter 1
~785 words. Sora/Kairi, Kairi & Aqua friendship. Post-Canon. Friendship, Angst, Pining.
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Sora’s birthday was coming up, and Kairi was determined to celebrate it with him. Didn’t matter that he wasn’t here right now or that the only way they had to communicate was through her body. She’d figure out something, anything, to make his birthday special.
She was seated on the hill overlooking the valley below the Land of Departure’s castle, gazing up at the starry sky and wondering what stars Sora could see, when Aqua joined her.
“Ready for the big day tomorrow?” she asked, draping a blanket over Kairi’s shoulders, and Kairi accepted the blanket gratefully. The spring nights were still nippy despite the warmth of the days. Aqua laid out an extra blanket, then sat on it and began setting out little snacks and treats and two thermoses of hot tea.
“Yeah,” Kairi replied, reaching for a thermos. “I’m hoping he’s safe enough to contact me.”
“I hope so too. Not every day that you have your Sweet Sixteen.”
Kairi tilted her head. “Sweet Sixteen?”
“Here in the Land of Departure, we have a special celebration for sixteenth birthdays that dates back hundreds of years. Sort of a coming-of-age tradition, even though true adulthood isn’t till you’re older.” Aqua offered Kairi a cookie. “How about Destiny Islands? Do you have similar traditions?”
“We have a coming-of-age ceremony too, but it’s at twenty.” Kairi smiled and leaned back. “We wear traditional Destiny Islands clothing and take pictures and walk around the Main Island. There are special dances and songs too. And if you have a sweetheart, it’s considered good luck to give that person a token of your affection. Something personal, something meaningful.”
“That sounds nice,” Aqua said. “Destiny Islands has so many wonderful traditions. The coming-of-age ceremony, sharing the paopu fruit, making Wayfinders out of thalassa shells…”
“Yeah,” Kairi said softly. “Home is a special place.”
But while the traditions were nice, home was special mainly because of who was there, no, who should be there. It wasn’t the same without Sora, so she’d only gone back when absolutely necessary and avoided the Play Island. It wouldn’t be right to be there without him. Besides, every time she stepped foot on Destiny Islands, all she could think about was his disappearance, and the memory drove a dagger through her heart.
“Kairi? You okay?” Aqua said softly, breaking through her thoughts.
“I’m fine,” she said, but her shaky voice and watering eyes betrayed her. “Some days are just harder than others, you know? And since it’s his birthday tomorrow, he’s been on my mind all day.”
Aqua said nothing, just patiently waited for Kairi to continue.
“I know he made that pie through me on White Day,” Kairi said at last, “but that was almost two weeks ago. I just really want him to come home. What we have now, it works, but it’s not the same as having him here beside me. And until I can go to him, I—”
Aqua put a hand on her shoulder. “I understand.”
She studied Aqua. Of course. Aqua had to endure years of being separated from the people she loved. And here Kairi was broken up over Sora being gone for far less time. It didn’t matter what other people said or how much training she underwent, she was still as weak as ever.
“It’s okay to grieve, Kairi,” Aqua said, breaking through her thoughts.
“But he’s not dead. He’s not dead, and we’re all trying to bring him home.”
“But it’s okay to grieve all the same. Separations like this are unnatural. None of this ever should’ve happened.” Aqua looked away. “Maybe, if Sora didn’t have to save us from dying at the Keyblade Graveyard, he wouldn’t have disappeared after saving you—”
Kairi smiled sadly. “As if Sora could ever leave any of us alone to die.”
Aqua returned the smile. “You’re right, it’s not in his nature. He was gonna get all his friends back no matter what.” She playfully nudged Kairi. “And his special someone, too.”
Kairi blushed and giggled for a few moments, then sobered up. It didn’t feel right to be happy about their relationship, not when she needed to focus on bringing him home. And besides, he’d touched so many people’s lives that it wouldn’t be right to hog him all to herself.
“I want to make something for him,” she said, “but I’m also looking forward to celebrating his birthday with our friends.”
“I think he’ll be very pleased with tomorrow’s party. Getting something special from you and seeing how much everyone’s thinking about him will mean a lot to him.”
Kairi looked to the stars. “I hope so. I just want him to know how much we all care.”

A/N: Happy 20th Anniversary to Kingdom Hearts! This story will be posted in two chapters, and the second chapter will be posted on the actual anniversary. Thank you to everyone for your support over the years!
And thank you for reading! I hope you enjoy tomorrow's chapter!

*rings the doorbell on ur blog* Omg more bbs headcanons Pretty please !
OH YOU BET YOUR SWEET BIPPY !!! These r very miscellaneous HAHA also these include implications of my Neurodivergency headcanons (theres a chart i posted if you scroll down on my blog)
VENTUS:
- Does NOT like weather extremes. Snow? sure! He’ll go sledding (or snowboarding w his key-armor?) and have fun, but a blizzard? You will find him next to the fireplace with his Chirithy under all the blankets in the house. same goes for summer and like. heatwaves
- Ventus is for sure one of those people who learn the weirdest hobbies and then drop it a week later “Hey Aqua, look what I made!” “Where did you learn to make ceramics?” “Felt like learning, so I did!” (This is how he learned to breakdance)
- The second he goes to the outside world, more specifically worlds and towns like Traverse and Twilight Town, he is booking it straight to the shopping district. He gets all kinds of outfits and stuff! He’s experimenting with his style, but refuses to take off his jacket thing (the black and white jakcet thing). I also think he would wear flowy Skirts and Dresses!!
- I think Roxas gets told he has to change how he looks because “it’s confusing” and he’s rightfully bothered by it, so when Ventus catches wind of how he feels, he immediately goes out and gets hair dye. Ven dyes his own hair, probably the tips a light minty green or something (aka his favorite color). I also like the idea that after some time of being out of Sora’s heart for so long, one or both of his eyes are green :D
AQUA:
- She really likes dance! Not just ballet, she looks up dance videos on her Gummiphone and tries to copy their movements. She’s pretty graceful, and sometimes
- Aqua starts carrying around a little bag that is borderlining a mary poppins bag after KH3. It’s filled with bandaids, potions, ethers, everything you can think of. She also carries everyone’s favorite snacks on her, as well as water. There’s so much in her bag wtf
- She often visits where she, Ven, and Terra placed Master Eraqus’ keyblade and their wayfinders. Usually she just goes there for some peace and quiet, to meditate, anything calming. Though sometimes she’ll go there to “chat” with Master Eraqus, usually it’s small talk or she’s asking for advice or smthn like that. Every so often Ventus or Terra join her.
TERRA:
- He bakes!!! For some reason Terra is a seriously good cook, and anytime the Light Gang get together they get very excited for Terra’s food. His only downfall is that he has a hard time going against his recipes, and has to have all his measurements and cooking/baking times exact.
- Post KH3 Terra has to dye his whole head of hair, or it’s a few silver strands in his front pieces that he chooses not to color (Side effects of being Norted). If he does dye it entirely, it’s a secret for a good while until either someone walks in on him doing it, or he’s panicking in the bathroom because the store didn’t have his usual color so now it’s pretty obvious and everyone’s gonna know. Once everyone finds out it’s clear sailing, no one’s bothered by it, and Ven gets excited and pleads Terra to let him help out.
- Terra usually gets roped into Ventus’ hobby of the week, and will also run up to Aqua to show off his latest talent. He made a fairly sturdy shelf once, and it is where he and Ven display the new things they make (along with other trinkets). He probably learned he can cook well from Ventus deciding to learn how to make food (Ven did not do too well)
VANITAS:
(yeah i had to do him. I love him. also this is very “im giving him the redemption arc he deserves”)
- He claims he doesn’t need to eat, or that he can’t (depends on who’s asking), but he can. His food palate is very...all over the place– sweets like gummies and chocolate bars, all the way to really spicy foods. Do not catch him up at like...3AM he is probably in the kitchen making the worst food combination ever.
- Once he meets with Ventus after KH3, he is oddly clingy. Not in a “I need you so we can complete they keyblade” way, more of a “if I lose you I will feel empty and not be whole anymore.” If you were to visit the Land of Departure, you would see Vanitas trailing behind Ven all the time. He probably tries copying him as well (in mannerisms or in appearance), once again because he just wants to be whole again. Also it’s completely platonic, and I think I might headcanon both Ven and Van as AroAce :P
- Vanitas is forcefully taken on shopping trips with Ventus. He usually just carries the bags and gives opinions on Ven’s outfits. The only way he can tell Vani likes it is if he hesitates or the insult isn’t as mean. Van doesn’t buy anything (rather he steals little things), but after some wearing down he gets platform boots. His usual shoes r already platforms, but he needs more leverage (hes small bro). Maybe he gets a skirt or dress, i dunno.

Terraqua Week Day 7 (Night Sky)
Summary: They don’t know it’s called love. Terra and Aqua dare a night out in a storm. || Word Count: 4,511
Read on AO3
A/N: @terraquaweek AAAAAAA it’s over!! It’s been a wild ride. This particular fic I feel is my weakest of the collection - I literally ran out of time to make this one special in my eyes. It’s just a soft and tender fic. I’m sorry I couldn’t give a stronger conclusion, but I hope you take something you like out this one regardless!
~~~~~~~~~~*
Wayfinding
The sky over Destiny Islands is beautiful. Like the mountains in the Land of Departure, we’re isolated here, an audience to pinpricks of light blinking down at us with secrets from far away.
Kairi’s been begging us to visit for a couple of nights to stargaze with her and her friends. She says we’ll be blown away. Tonight, storm clouds blot the sky in clumps, leaving us breaks in between to guess constellations. I do believe you could see stars from Destiny Islands you can’t see anywhere else, even though we all share the same sky. It’s special.
Ven points to a nebula, millions of miles away. “Hold on, is that—”
“The star system of Montressor, yep.” Terra takes a swish of water.
“It’s so much closer here.”
“What’s Montressor?” Sora crushes melted marshmallow onto chocolate, his fingers coated.
We’re sharing a fire, camping out on the beach and listening to the waves crashing. The beach overwhelms the senses in a way that grounds you. I can’t see the ocean through the darkness, but I can smell it. I can feel it by the humidity that drapes over my skin. There’s no mistaking where I am. The beach in the Realm of Darkness smelled like nothing.
And yet, if I walked into the water, I’d walk forever. The horizon vanishes at night.
The cloudy weather lately has made it difficult for us to see everything, so Terra has asked if we could stay longer. This is our third night.
“It’s a cluster of its own stars, like a galaxy.” Terra denies chocolate with his s’more. “The people there travel between different planets with their skyships.”
Kairi snorts. “The adults told us that a god sneezed millions of years ago and that’s his celestial booger smear.”
Sora gapes. “That sounds cool, I’ve never been.”
“You’re missing out,” Riku says, smirking as he chews.
“Wait, when did you go?”
Kairi plucks a marshmallow from the basket. “We can schedule a trip together. It will be fun.”
Terra cocks an eyebrow. “If you enjoy getting mugged by sky pirates.”
Sora leans forward, eyes wide at Terra’s nose. “Sky pirates? There’s such a thing? Oh, I’m in.”
They’re lovely kids, self-trained and their technique shows it. I take a sip of water out of a straw from a coconut that Riku had broken in half by smashing it against a boulder.
Terra eyes me from across the fire, holding my gaze as he drinks. We chose not to sit next to each other—no one else needs to know—but I admit that from this angle, I get to enjoy the way he looks at me. It was only last night that he held my hand and brushed his lips against mine, tucked behind a palm tree where no one saw us. I came back to the hut with fire on my cheeks. I still feel it in my stomach.
I can’t help my smile. I want to look at him longer but I don’t, so I cross my legs.
Paopu fruits hang on the trees nearby. Ven has mentioned (in front of everyone else) that Terra and I should share one. I told him to shut up, and he hasn’t brought it up again since.
“If we’re lucky,” Sora says, “we could see a meteor shower.”
I choke on my drink but keep my lips sealed.
Ven opens his mouth to reply but Terra hands him a warning glare.
Every star in the sky is a world. When worlds fall, the sphere that holds them together breaks into pieces, like the glass that shatters when the lantern is dropped. That is a meteor shower, but I wouldn’t want to break anyone’s heart if they believe otherwise.
“Don’t you wish upon them?” I ask, forcing myself to swallow. The thought of wishing upon the harm of others, even unintentionally, churns me. “Is that the tradition?”
“You mean you don’t?” Kairi asks.
I shrug, desperate for an answer. “We… don’t wish upon much. There’s little use for it when you’re training for the Keyblade.”
Terra turns away to hide a smirk.
“That’s so depressing,” Sora says and I frown.
The wind is warm and moist. It’s so peaceful, of course the only stories you’d ever hear about the stars are the good ones.
Ven jumps up, pointing at the sky. “Look, look!”
Two shooting stars fly straight across. May they be blessed.
“Okay.” Sora slaps his hands together. “Wishing time. I wish…” He closes his eyes, and for a second, a solemn smile darkens his face. “I’ve been away for so long. Any minute Donald is going to ring me up and take me somewhere. I just want to stay home for a while, just a few days. You know, take a break, be with you guys, my best friends. I promised my mom I’d help with her gardening and stay one night for dinner.”
Riku nods to himself.
“I’d like the same,” Kairi says, laying on her stomach on her blanket, gazing at the fire.
“You’re not supposed to be wishing on them,” Ven blurts out, covering his mouth too late.
Sora’s eyebrows furrow. This is not a look I like to see on him. “Why?”
If Ven could kick himself without anyone seeing, he would.
Terra holds onto Sora’s shoulder. “A shooting star is someone traveling between worlds. Their heart is reaching out to someone to comfort or protect them. You don’t want to wish for something selfish, you want to wish the best for them.”
The expression Sora gives can only be described as horror. “Oh, well, um, safe travels buddy. I hope you find your friend.”
“Is it too late to take the wish back?” Riku asks. I think he’s asking on purpose considering how much more fraught Sora becomes and how much Riku is enjoying it.
Terra notices. He nods his head to the side. I love the way he does it. He’s beautiful. “Probably.”
“But I really do want them to be safe,” Sora whines, defeated.
The wind picks up, clouds floating across the sky at a speed where they swallow the stars. It smells damp and it feels hotter.
“I don’t like the looks of this,” Riku says, dumping the pail of water next to him onto the fire. He kicks sand over it for good measure. Sora and Kairi don’t hesitate to stack baskets and fold blankets.
“What’s going on?” Ven asks, moving slowly when he folds his chair, as if unsure.
“Monsoon season.” Riku steps on the last embers. “We didn’t expect a storm to come out this soon but you never know.”
“Maybe it wasn’t supposed to come tonight.” Kairi eyes Sora suspiciously.
“No way—” Sora starts.
“Nice job, Sora.” Riku says. “You’ve doomed us all.”
“I didn’t wish for a monsoon!”
“You wished to be locked up here with us. Congratulations.”
I interrupt. “What do you need me to do? Where do we go for shelter?”
Kairi points to their treehouse, which connects through the cavern and which, from my understanding, stood there through their entire childhood. “My dad—the one you’ve met before, Papa—fortified it with extra wood on the walls and the roof. It’s always been safe.”
By the time we have everything packed and are going up the ramps to the treehouse, it’s pouring. At least it’s not the iciness of mountain rain.
The door bangs when Kairi swings it open, the wind throwing it back and forth as if it’s juggling it between two hands. Ven waves his arm in a circular motion—his magic redirects the wind for as long as he can hold it, letting everyone inside before he lets go and the door slams behind us.
Inside, we dry ourselves with rags, our shoes and socks warming up under the lanterns. We have fresh blankets and sacks of food, in case the storm lasts all night.
Except in terms of blankets, we’re one short.
Ven hands Terra the last blanket and (pointedly) says something to him.
The last blanket is the largest, so I’d have to share it with Terra. I adore Ven to pieces (and I won’t protest sharing any space with Terra), but when Ven gets difficult, I sometimes have to suppress myself. Judging by the way Terra wraps it around our shoulders and nudges close to me, he doesn’t care what the others think anymore.
Kairi quickly looks away from us, rolling her lips inward like she’s witnessed a scandal.
Rain beats onto the roof, a million patters like the fingers of thousands of people asking to be let in. Thunder rumbles in quickly, soothing then unsettling. Terra and I sit in front of a window, the water so thick that it blurs the screen. Under the blanket, he rolls a finger over my wrist, stroking my palm. I smile at him.
“We should have brought real fruit,” Ven says, chewing on dried mango. If by real fruit he means paopu, he’s smart for not specifying it.
“You need finer taste,” Kairi says, chewing on the same.
“You need culture,” Sora says, swallowing something I don’t recognize.
The idea of a spontaneous camp-in might have been exciting the first several minutes, but hours later, it becomes agony.
All this time, I can’t talk to Terra about anything too personal, though we’ve snuck a few passing whispers here and there.
He asks me an indistinct question that anyone can misinterpret out of context: When did you know?
My answer is just as vague. I was fourteen.
There’s not much we can do to explore touch. I tend to listen more to the way he takes finger by finger. Terra will intermittently say one sentence with minimal effort, but just enough so that the others know we’re still with them. I worry that if I laugh a certain way, it would expose us.
But no one asks, too busy chatting about building bigger boats for the one dream they’ve never been able to accomplish.
At some point, Terra challenges Riku to a rematch.
“So what you’re telling me,” Riku says, a mock-smirk that fits perfectly on his face, “is that you’re very impressed and you want to be foolish enough to lose to me a second time so that everyone else knows how impressive I am.”
“We all know, Riku,” Sora says.
“But Terra wants to remind you.”
Terra laughs as if he’s not interlacing his fingers with mine. He squeezes my hand.
It’s when everyone’s eyes are closed, drifting away to sleep, that Terra wraps his arm around my waist and I rest on his shoulder. One lantern is still on. The storm has quieted for now, but we’ve been told to expect another onslaught.
Terra cranes his head back, looking out the window. He’s done this twice per hour, but the sky has been black, the clouds smearing everything.
“What are you looking for?” I whisper.
“I have this very,” Terra starts, pausing, “vague memory of looking up to the stars, looking for home but I could never find it.”
So not his memory, but Xehanort’s. Blurs and images that make no sense, as if from a dream. Castle Oblivion never shined, so of course Xehanort couldn’t find it for the last twelve years. Terra is lucky that’s as much as he remembers. I don’t know how he could possibly deal if he woke up with a history of every crime Xehanort has committed in his body.
“And I feel like,” Terra continues, his eyes lost, his voice hushed. “I’ve—or he—tried over and over again.”
“Ah.” I sigh. “You were looking for it these past few nights.”
“The Master told me that home is the brightest star in the multiverse. You could see it through the clouds. It would always guide you back if you were lost.”
“I never heard that story.”
Terra looks at me and holds me closer. “That was before you came.”
“Whether it’s true or not, it’s out there.”
He frowns, leaning his head back against the windowsill again. “The idea that home was gone at some point… that’s the one thing that haunts me still, even though I know it’s just a trip away and I could always go back. But knowing that doesn’t suffice.”
I rub his stomach. “We can find it together.”
He goes quiet, the hand on my waist tensing up. The wheels in his mind turn. “Do you want to find it tonight?”
I look up at him.
“The storm has stopped,” he says.
“For now.”
“Then we come back before it starts again.” He pulls me closer, nearly settling me on top of his leg. I feel his smirk in my hair.
I glance out the window. “But the clouds are too thick.”
“Well, if the story is true—”
“If.”
“Then we’d take some time for ourselves.” He nudges my nose, and I wish he’d kiss me. “We’re Keyblade wielders. A monsoon isn’t impossible to manipulate.”
I stifle a laugh. He has a quick answer for everything, and to any given person, it’d be infuriating. I once found it so when I was younger.
“I am obligated to remind you that it’s dangerous,” I say, wishing I could get away with tasting his lips. I come close to.
“I feel like I’m about to scream,” he says, brushing my hair. “I need to do something loud. Yell. Throw myself into the ocean. Touch you—I don’t know. It’s too suffocating in here. I’ve suffocated for twelve years. I’ve had enough.”
I don’t know why my heart jumps at the idea when it’s so reckless. Terra is not a bad influence, he’s just as responsible as I am, yet I find myself yearning for the thrill.
I haven’t tasted something like this in years, when thrill was something to be avoided in the Darkness.
“Okay. But we come back in no less than twenty minutes.”
We blow out our lantern and Terra takes precious, long seconds to turn the doorknob.
Ven stirs, his bright eyes blinking open in the dark. “You guys are leaving?” he whispers.
“We’re coming back,” Terra says.
“Is this going to happen a lot?”
My heart sinks. It’s usually the three of us, never disconnected except when we’re bickering. I look to Terra for what to say when he replies with, “Do you want to come with us?”
Ven looks at me. “Nah. I’m tired.”
I bend down and pet his head. “You’ll come with us next time.”
“I know.” Ven wiggles in his blanket and gets comfortable. “Just don’t drown.”
Terra gently takes my wrist. As much as I’m compelled to stay with Ven, Terra’s smile is a reminder that there’s little to worry about with him. We leave the shoes and socks behind.
Outside, the wind howls strong, my sashes beaten in fury. The sand is warm when we step off the ramp, loose swirls of dust devils skidding across the beach. It’s dark without the moonlight, the ocean waves crashing onto the shore so hard that all I see are white bubbles. My heart races, but this feeling is nothing like the constant race of fear in the Dark Realm. No, this is familiar yet foreign. The slap of salty air in my face makes me gush with something jittery.
Terra cups his hands close to the ground and jerks them forward near the base of the giant tree where the treehouse stands. The sand buckles—he’s moving earth and boulder against the trunk of the tree, compensating for years of erosion, creating a natural scaffolding to fortify it further.
The river nearby spills out of its bank, small streams skittling towards the ocean. I bring my hands together and wave them back inland, redirecting the water away from the tree so there is less risk of flooding.
I hear Terra calling me. The wind ruins his hair—he looks more charming this way. When he walks, his pants flatten and blow open like balloons. He gathers bunches of my hair in his thick, large fingers, holds it off of my face, and kisses me. He’s firm and pulsing, strong but gentle, the touch of his lips igniting a flame that rides up to my heart. By the way he breathes through me, he’s been wanting to do this for a long time.
A gust of wind bashes against our bodies. Water splashes on our knees and I nearly topple down.
We laugh into each other’s shoulders, my legs caked in wet sand. He’s holding me up by my arms, taking me towards the nearest palm tree.
“This is the most insane thing I’ve ever done,” I say, my voice raised to compete against the roar of the wind.
“I needed this,” he says, nodding.
My heart sighs in agreement.
Terra trembles from adrenaline, his smile glued on his face. He gestures in a way to call something down from above. A palm tree bends over, giving its head to us. “I want you to meet my new best friend, Leafy.”
I snort. “What is this for?”
Terra giggles before grabbing a paopu fruit. “Thank you, my friend,” he says to Leafy, bowing.
“You’re talking to a tree.”
Pointing that out melts him into hysteria. “I don’t know how to describe it. I am so happy right now.” He gestures like he’s about to rip his skin off, something inside about to explode. “And I don’t know what to do with that feeling.” He turns to me, holding out the paopu fruit. “I want to share this with you.”
My cheeks hurt. “We don’t know how it works.”
“Will you accept it anyway?”
No second thoughts.
It has the consistency of an orange, the taste of a grape. The legend of the fruit claims that it binds the destinies of those who share it together, intertwining their hearts and fates so they’re a part of each other’s lives forever. It could be a symbolic gesture—I certainly thought so when I made our Wayfinders, embedding my magic into them to make sure they work that way.
I don’t know what I think of the future—I stopped planning for it the day I fell to Darkness—but I would be okay so long as Terra stays somewhere in my life.
Terra leans forward and bites the other side of the fruit, right out of my mouth. It catches me off guard, shuddering me into a chuckle, and I lean to meet him, wrapping my arms around his neck. He tastes of warmed juice. My heart pounds at the slide of his fingers on my forearms as he pushes my sleeves away. I lose the paopu fruit somewhere when he pulls me in.
I realize now what it is: I’ve been numbed. The Realm of Darkness hushes it all inside, leaving you with nothing but your thoughts. When you can’t take much more, you wish for it to be over. Then, you are soothed, a sick, cold honey that drips over your skin. The numbness makes you keep walking so you keep living, until you can’t take the numbness anymore and you go back to despairing. Only to be soothed yet again. The only real emotion that lasts for more than a moment is the sudden whiplash when Heartless attack and you have to survive. The wrong kind of thrill.
Terra has been cut off from all senses for twelve years.
I’ve been quieted.
So I need him. I need him to brush his fingers on my skin, I need to taste his tongue, I need to run in the rain, laugh at stupid jokes, get scared on purpose, for reasons that don’t truly threaten me. Terra reminds me of the morning when we raced in the ravine as children. He reminds me that there’s more to the way my heart beats than keeping my hands to myself.
Terra sighs into my neck. “I wish I was strong enough to be a shooting star for you,” he says into my ear. “I’m sorry we waited twelve years to do this.”
Does he not remember that he came to me in the Darkness? He told me not to give up.
He told me that I never stopped lighting his way back. I must have flown in the sky too, without knowing, for other children to see. Maybe I’ve done so many times. I hold him tightly.
An unnaturally strong gust targets at us, loose leaves slapping us and nicking my face. Terra looks up and bursts into laughter. “Stars, he’s watching us.”
Ven sits at the window, waving his arms in circles, as if to slap our wrists with rulers for such behavior.
My instinct is to remove myself from all scrutiny, but I bump into Terra’s chest. I laugh. I don’t know what else to do except to take his hand and run to the other side of the beach. I think about how Ven must have been worried, and opened that window to see what we were up to, only to witness what he did, and—
—I cover my mouth and snort. “I can’t believe we were caught.”
“We’re being sloppy.”
I can’t stop laughing. It hurts, but in a good way, better than the victory after a Heartless attack, better than even seeing my friends again after so long, when I couldn’t stop crying.
Water washes over my feet faster than I can step out of it, my toes sinking like I can be erased in a heartbeat. We all could, at the precipice of Darkness. I could laugh right now, I could mourn tomorrow. The thought chokes me.
“Aqua, are you okay?”
Storm clouds have suffocated everything, dark paint dabbed with a sponge layer after layer so that everything under is hidden. I lean back, but I don’t step away. It’s dark but not Dark, I tell myself. We’re alone, but I’m not. We’re nowhere close to home, but with him, I am. Small reminders for large steps forward.
“It looks like it goes on forever.”
Terra squeezes my hand, and it says so much. He understands. “We’re facing west. Home would be this direction.”
I’ve faced the darkest enemy and survived. I’ve been running—it’s my instinct to—but I don’t have to run anymore.
Yet I don’t know what else I could do with all this energy. I face the black ocean now. I want to do something crazy.
“We could try to find it,” I say.
Terra jerks like he’s about to torpedo himself into the sky. “We’ll fly.”
I swallow. “The ocean looks bottomless.”
“It’s not.”
“I know it isn’t.” I look again. The star isn’t there. “But that doesn’t make sense to me. Dark is dark, kind is kind, and the things that hurt me hide.”
“There’s nothing out there that can hurt you, only whales. And I know for a fact that you’re stronger than any shark I know.”
I pause, a mix of childish giddiness and sudden tears wrestling with each other and I don’t know what I’m supposed to feel. “We don’t fight sharks.”
“We don’t.”
“You don’t know any sharks.”
“You’re right.”
My body gives up and I laugh and cry at the same time. “That was the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.”
Terra wraps his hand on my waist, leaning against my forehead. “I’ve got you. I’m not going to let you fall. Ever again.”
“I know.” I place my hand on the center of his chest. Sometimes lessons are learned too late. Sometimes the consequences are more than what we’ve prepared for. “Let’s fly.”
He summons his Keyblade and commands it to transform into his glider, helping me on with the guidance of his hand. Neither of us want to break contact. His glider isn’t designed to carry two people, the curve of its engine forcing me forward so I lean onto him. His back muscles are well-formed, sturdy under my weight, his waist so thick that I have to grip his shirt to hold on.
When Ven sees us take off, he makes frantic arm movements, grabbing fistfuls of air. It calms the fury of the wind around us, giving Terra a smoother path ahead with mild turbulence. We leave the beach behind, and ride into a world of nothing.
I grip harder into his stomach and contain a meep. Terra slows to a stop. We haven’t gone far.
“I’m okay,” I say onto his neck. It’s quieter out here, without the waves and the trees.
Terra palms a hand over mine, gliding it up to his chest like he wants to feel his heartbeat through both of our hands. It’s hammers, like he’s running away, or towards something.
Or nowhere, really. We’re running just to run, just to remember what it feels like. I kiss the back of his neck, where it meets his shoulder.
“Look,” he says softly. His grip tightens on the handlebar, and he shudders under me. He’s about to cry.
There is one star through the clouds, brushed over in fog. Terra reaches up as if to grab it, measuring our home in the pinch of his fingers.
“To think our beds are small enough to fit,” I say, smiling into him.
Terra takes my hand from his chest and kisses it.
A gust of wind knocks his glider, and he revs it up to stabilize us, holding a solid kick onto the pedals. Ven is either too far away or too tired to keep helping us.
Rain prickles onto us, and starts to build. I tremble. For some reason, I don’t want to go back into the treehouse and sleep it off. I feel cut off, trapped in a bottle where I can’t move.
I look behind me. There are now four heads on that window, four worried faces gawking at the scandal. “The others are awake.”
“Let them have a show.” He turns over and holds me close, taking my lips with his. Again, again, again.
I shiver. He tastes like springwater. I don’t know why I don’t find our predicament threatening. We’re hovering over darkness—but I’ve won against the Darkness. We’ve hovering in a dangerous storm, and yet it seems miniscule. I’m grateful.
“I can make the water dance,” I say.
“I know. That’s why I’m not scared.” He smiles. It’s like he’s asking permission.
I nod. “We wouldn’t be falling.”
“We’d be flying.”
He dismisses his Keyblade. He falls first, relaxed, his arms open like he doesn’t mind landing into the turret of waters, like he’s about to fall on a feather bed.
I call for my Keyblade and let it shine. The rain around us swirls, bursting into bright pellets. Terra catches me with one arm, hooking it around my waist and keeping me close. We twirl like we’re caught in a tornado. We kiss. We laugh, our legs wrapping over each other. The light spreads, tiny pinpricks of asteroids and firecrackers that shower Destiny Islands.
I can’t be crazy. I can’t fall. I’m safe and sound with the earth beneath my feet.
Hi ! For OC ask, can we know 1, 10, 12 for all your OCs ? If it's too fair Aegis then haha, have fun and thank you !
Of course I can answer for all three! Thank you for asking about them! Made my not so good day a better day answering these!
A warning, Aer in the second question got away from me very quickly and the answer for the last one got sad very quick :(
Under the cut (hopefully - sorry if the read more doesn't work again!)
1. Why did you pick their name?
Aegis was about matching it to the Wayfinder Trio - elemental. I wanted something lightning-related after discovering all the Latin words for fire were masculine. Alas, the Latin dictionary I used didn't mention anything for lightning or thunder. So the closest I could think of was Storm - storms aren't always full of lightning, but it still served the purpose of 'negative connotation' to go with her darkness struggles. The thing is, the only one that worked was Cataegis - Stormy Winds, Hurricane. Googled to see if Hurricanes have lightning - it's very rare and a sign of a very bad Hurricane... good enough. But then it was a little too negative and not very defensive. Good thing Aegis - Latin for shield, also heartwood - worked.
That's why her tags are always Cataegis (Aegis) - her full name is Cataegis, but everyone knows to call her Aegis, lest they want to be blasted into the air with lightning zapping them XD
Aer was, again, elementally related. But only Fire was free. And that wouldn't work with someone as calm as Aer. So that left water (confusing to have two Aquas), Earth (naming him Terra would be more a sign of defeat, so that was a no) and wind (which already had Ventus and Vanitas - both their names meaning wind). So Air was the next best thing. Just so happened, Aer also meant clear skies and something very similar to a new beginning. Fitting!
So that left only three elements left - fire, dark, light. Lucis isn't fiery in the slightest, and whilst she does struggle with darkness her light is much too strong. So Latin for light worked wonders. I've also had a thing for the word being used as a name since Final Fantasy XV, so a great opportunity to use it!
10. What makes them nice to be around? I can only really say why I think they'd be great to be around for me, but hopefully, they work for you and anyone else wanting to know them, too!
Aegis is pretty quiet all things considered. Yeah, she banters and can talk non-stop if she wants too, but she also enjoys quiet moments. Wouldn't be the first time she's not really said anything much for a few days. So if you just want to be somewhere quiet, or don't want to be alone but wants silence, she's a perfect candidate. She's motherly but not overbearing - she wants what's best for her friends, but she's not going to complain if they do something she doesn't like much or that's dangerous. In part, it's because she doesn't like people knowing she worries herself sick over those she holds dear, but another part is because she wants her friends happy and overbearing doesn't make her happy (so she's the opposite side of the mum-friend spectrum to Aqua, leading to a few clashes from time to time). But she is always there to patch folks up and try to calm them down if they're worried - even if it's mostly to help herself remain calm XD That being said, if you're sick or injured she lets you know she cares about you recovering. She may not say it but's it's all in action with her. Unless you've reached a point of struggling, then she goes into wisdom mode. Mostly with Terra and Ventus, but it's common XD Speaking of, if you love having people around you who are philosophical? She's great for that. Sometimes it comes out like a long monologue, but she does it. Also never reveals your ills to others - so don't worry about anything private to you getting out. 80% because she'll only remember it when you bring it up again and 20% because she literally forgets about it. Aegis never gives up on you, either. Loyal to a fault.
If you like teasing your friends, she's easy to fluster - especially when it comes to crushing super hard on Tera! Also laughs at herself quite a bit - she knows she's a little clumsy, so she laughs at that. Even if it is to hide embarrassment half the time. You may also get a giggle about her being a sponge and a big old softie.
She bakes - free cakes for you! She's not a pastry chef so... cakes are really all she can do. Had a bad time? Cake for you. Birthday? Cake for you.
Helps you with your homework! If you're drawing or writing and something's wrong somewhere and you can't figure it out, she's the one to go to. And in the same vein, if you want an honest opinion with a little bit of actual constructive criticism, or want something correcting and you're struggling, or just to go through looking for spelling mistakes, she's the number one. She's always very polite and respectful! She knows it's a blurred line and she hates showing her work to anyone if it's not perfect, so she will treat your creations like they're your actual child.
Also, she's the only one you can reflect, deflect and boost your physical and magical defence, plus cast regen. So she's tactically useful to have on hand for survival, too.
Aer's like a blend of Terra, Aegis - he has the boyish charm I envision Terra having (especially when Terra's grinning and laughing), brotherly, you know. But almost more chill than Terra - Terra's pretty chill anyway but this is Aegis levels of chill. Unless you do something that he really doesn't like, he doesn't care. He's more confident when it comes to socialising than Aegis is, but he has that ability to be silent very comfortably. He's not inherently a social animal, but he doesn't mind a couple hours of being social either. Like Aegis, he's very quick to figure out what's going on, looking for answers. I mean, he's 12 in KH3 and he's more on the ball than Sora, Donald and Goofy and truly keeping them on track.
He's as steady and solid as the earth, but as free as the wind. When he's worried, he's that grounding force usually, when he's not worried he's carefree - not to the extent of Sora, but it's a lot easier for him to laugh. If you know him before Terra comes back, you're going to see a worried mess that hides it. He's a boy worried about his mother, his father who's currently Lingering Will and might forget about him as the days go by or when Terra's made whole again. A boy so frustrated with a talking duck that once Aegis goes to the realm of darkness a second time to get Aqua, he snaps at the said duck. He consistently says his favourite story about Terra, he wants to be Terra in the way children sometimes want to be like their parents. He's afraid and when Aegis isn't around, he rarely smiles. But if you know him post-KH3, he's so happy. He still worries about his parents, of course, but they're happy and he's happy. His eyes are so bright and his grin and laugh are just so full of joy and he really just... comes into his own. He's not afraid to say 'you'll be fine'. He's no longer afraid of his darkness, he's... free of fear. He's a kid again, he's making the most with his family.
He's just soft and heart-meltingly kind. He's a romantic and a strong guy or named every wishing star 'dad' as a kid because he knew worlds were the stars, so a wishing star was Terra moving Keyblade Graveyard every night so he could say 'I'm watching over you'. And he named the brightest star in the sky 'Mum', because that bright light was her hope. And he names stars after Ven and Aqua and Sora and Riku and his grandparents and uncle and aunty and friends later on in life. He names a star after his future wife, future children, his own siblings (of which I have not yet decided gender or number - but I'm thinking of a sister) and cousins. Even Lucis has a star.
He's so soft he's openly emotional - great to have emotive people around you. He's a very good hugger. Will carry you around if you're sick and injured. Or if he's just having a good time!
He's the blue-eyed believer - finds silver linings in almost everything, believes in nearly everyone like Terra. But like Aegis, his gut instinct is extremely reliable. He can smell manipulation a mile away - he can smell a trap. So don't try. He learnt from the mistake of his father to never trust someone who speaks of aid but only makes it worse. You might just get possessed, turn into a pain in the butt of a heartless and hurt those you care about without knowing. Also might just get stuck in armour for the rest of your days and who knows if rust would get to it.
(also though a quick design update - his keyblade was going to be very similar to Terra's originally. Whilst that is still the case at the base and about halfway up, it resembles more of a lance at the top rather than a key).
Dry sense of humour (or would if I was any good at humour myself XD) but can also be a little....immature when he wants to be. The latter is quite rare, but if something innocent comes out sound rather uninnocent, he's struggling not to laugh.
Also is easy to make bashful - just compliment him. He'll throw compliments back, but oh call him adorable and you've won the match.
Lucis is my most undeveloped character, but she's pretty much like Aegis - only she truly does prefer few friends but good quality. She's probably not the best to be around, she's the most depressed of my three KH OCs and can be easily irritated, but she's so used to being alone she really has very little care about what you do. Obviously don't get yourself in trouble, but you could be with another group for a few weeks and she'd not even mention it. She misses you ofc, and she's extremely sad when no one's around her anymore, but she's so 'boring' she doesn't blame anyone for it.
She's very cautious so if you're too reckless she'll be able to bring you back (or attempt to) before you get yourself killed, but it means there are many things you'll never see her attempt. Being clumsy like Aegis doesn't help either.
Whilst Aegis is big on singing ballads or trying to be operatic (miserably - Aegis doesn't have the vocal range high or low.... someone has to have my misfortune with that lol), Lucis is into the koto and bamboo flute (both of which Aegis does pick up eventually). She does sing, but she believes so heavily she's no good at it that she sings quietly or under her breath 80% of the time.
If you want to know big words, she may be able to help. Also, she's an aunt to a small boy (who is a direct ancestor of Aegis' and Aer's) so if you're struggling to read something, she can help!
Patience like no other. Does she even get angry? Yes, but it can months to get her to that point.
When she's struggling, she gets sentimental and feelings of admiration come out - but do not confuse them with love, ever. This is all platonic from her. Unless it's about Ephemer - then that's another story.
I think what mostly makes her good to be around is she just.... finds hope somehow. She could be lost in the deepest darkness, and she'd always find something. She never realises she made that spec of light herself. She never expects anything - she doesn't know how good she is, how cared about she is, but she knows she's good at finding hope even when she thinks all is lost. She's humble and never makes anyone feel bad.
Her motto is 'whatever happens happens - it's out of our control. All we can control is how we act about it.'
12. What do other people often notice first in them? Aegis - resting face of frowning or like she's always sad. They notice her anxiety over unfamiliar people and places, sorrow... but those who look beyond, see her eyes. See her hope. See fear but trust. They see pain and struggles, but an undying flame of quiet determination.
Aer - 'Is that Terra?', his height, his eyes, his smile, his laugh. His belief and hope, his worry and his lack of sleep. His love and joy. His tight grip on his darkness, a raging fire of desperation to have his family whole again. His face looks happy, but his eyes never quite match. Not for a long while.
Lucis - loneliness. Depression. A survivor. A fighter. A storm within her chest. Someone pushing others away so it doesn't hurt when they abandon her just like everyone else. A rose quartz necklace with initials on the stone - her parents. White-hot tears constantly threatening her vision - smile always tight and pained, like at any second she'll scream out the pain she's held in for so long, never allowed to release it because she'll get bullied otherwise. A woman with the world on her shoulders and no one to carry the weight with - it is her burden to bear. So used to being alone she does not know how many people really would help her carry it, if only she wasn't so afraid.
Who Are You? Prt.2 Sora X Fem!Reader
Warnings: More angst = more tears, again sorry for this gif. This is gonna have Kairi, Riku, the Wayfinder trio, the Sea Salt Ice Cream trio, Mickey, Donald, and Goofy in this.
Tumblr media
Somethings wrong. Like someone’s forgetting about me. (Y/N)?! No! S-She can’t forget about me! Someone please help me!
Kairi woke up with a jolt. She shot up in bed looking around. She knew Sora was calling for help. She got out of bed to get some fresh air. When she walked outside and saw Riku watching the water and walked towards him.
“Sora’s calling us,” she said as she watched the water with him.
“I know. (Y/N) forgot her memories about him.” he replied, not moving his head to look at Kairi.
“What can we do? It’s not like we can magically get (Y/N)’s memories back by telling her who Sora was.” Kairi looked at Riku with tears in her eyes. Riku looked back with the same expression.
“We need to talk to Master Yen Sid.” Kairi nodded in agreement. They made plans to head to Master Yen Sid’s tower.
~The Next Day~
Kairi and Riku entered Master Yen Sid’s tower to see, Mickey, Donald, Goofy, the Wayfinder trio, and the Sea Salt Ice Cream trio there.
Kairi, Riku. I believe I know why you are here.” Master Yen Sid said. “You’re here to find a way to bring Sora back.”
“Yes, Master. (Y/N) forgot her memories of Sora and we need to find a way to bring him back.” Riku explained.
“You didn’t (Y/N) with you” Ventus asked. Kairi shook her head.
“We didn’t want to confuse her. It’s bad enough that she lost her memories. we didn’t want to make things worse,” she said.
“It’s probably best that she stays at Destiny Islands. In case she suddenly remembers something.”
“But who will stay with her if she remembers something, Master?” Aqua asked.
“(Y/N) will stay in Radiant Garden. There, Ansem the Wise and his apprentices can keep an eye on her and her memories.” Everyone agreed with the masters plan.
~later that night back on Destiny Islands~
As everyone was getting ready for bed, Kairi stopped by (Y/N)’s place and knocked on her door.
“Oh. Hey, Kairi. What’s up?”
“Are you up for heading to Radiant Garden tomorrow?” Kairi asked.
“Sure. Is there a reason why?”
“Riku and I know you forgot your memories of Sora. So Master Yen Sid suggested that you go to Radiant Garden so that Ansem the Wise and his apprentices can monitor your memories in case you get them back.”
“O-Okay.” You said nervously.
“It’s gonna be okay. We’ll get him back.” Kairi gave you a reassuring hug. You returned the hug and gave her a small thanks. The two of you then parted ways and went to sleep.
(Y-Y/N). Please don’t forget about me. I can’t lose you. You were the best thing that happened to me. Baby, please. remember me.
~The Next Day~
You, Riku, and Kairi arrived in Radiant Garden and headed for the castle. When you arrived, the three of you headed straight for Ansem’s office and knocked on his door.
“Come in,” he said. Riku opened the door and let you and Kairi in first.
“Sorry for disturbing you Master Ansem. But (Y/N) lost her memories of Sora and we need her to stay here in case she remembers something.” Riku said.
“Of course. We’ll do everything we can to make sure she’s safe while monitoring her memories.”
“Thank you, Master,” Riku said. The three of you then said your goodbyes. You knew they would be back. They had to come back.
Baby, I love you so much. Please hold on. I’ll find a way back to you, I promise. Just hang on baby. Someone please help me back to my baby. I can’t lose her. Why did you do this Yazora? Why did you have to take me away from her? She’s so important to me. (Y/N), if you can hear me, I’m glad I got to share the Paopu Fruit with you. I’m glad I got to share everything with you. I love you so much. Please remember me again.
Chapter 27 | Help me reach you, Ven. The wayfinder next to Aqua's heart grows warm.
As a dozen Darksides reach out to capture her, a phantom burst of wind catches the water under her. She leaps.
Riku springs after her. He swings his keyblade down in a deadly arc, ready to send her careening down into the Darksides’ hands.
~
Summary | Unwillingly drafted into Master Xehanort's new Organization XIII, Sora finds himself leashed to the darkness. Working in the shadows shouldn't come this naturally to a boy who fights for the light. And now, forced to track down the New Seven Hearts with his Organization XIII peers, Sora is unable to stop the war that threatens to lay waste to the universe.
Sora's only hope is realized when Riku and Kairi take his place as the light's champions—even if he must eventually meet them on the battlefield. But Sora's uncontrollable darkness threatens to consume even them. The people he loves cannot be safe until he escapes the Organization and controls the powerful darkness inside himself.
Except—he's not sure he wants to.
An alternate take on KH3, in which Sora is 'Norted at the end of Dream Drop Distance. Soranort fic.
Frequent updates!
hi arii !! have u ever thought of xenoblade aus with ur other f/os? 🤔 i suddenly started imagining luna as a driver LOL but since uve been thinking abt xbc a bit more lately i wanted to ask since the concept is soo cool
Hello Clara!! Thank you so so much for sending this in, it really means a lot to me~
Ooh, I am not sure I have considered Driver Luna before, but I am now absolutely going to try to. Azami was my instant first thought for who she would resonate with, but that's more of an aesthetic thing. However, I also think Luna would work well with many healer Blades, though I can see her wielding Bitballs moreso than I can Knuckle Claws. (Which is perhaps ironic considering that there are no dark-element healer Rare Blades in XC2!) Did you have anyone else in mind from your sudden imagining (either in terms of who Luna would resonate with or perhaps how any other Reborn characters would be put in the game)?
Regarding Xenoblade Chronicles AUs with other F/Os, I have considered something like this in the past, but only for my selfship with Aqua, as far as I can remember. In that, the idea was less of an outright AU and more simply that Aqua and Aria had come to Alrest (hey, that's you) at some point after KH3, probably as part of their search for new potential Keyblade wielders in different worlds (partially because, while there's definitely scope for Heartless invasion, I'm struggling to think of how that would actually play out from like a game perspective). As part of their investigations, the two would pose as Blade and Driver, with Aqua pretending to be a Driver and Aria pretending to be her Blade, since - despite Gormotti being a thing here - Aria sort of has a few too many inhuman traits to properly pass as one, I think. Like the wings, and the seams, which may or may not be able to be mistaken for ether lines. She'd specifically be pretending to be a dark-element attacker Rare Blade of some kind, perhaps even being assumed to be Legendary considering the unique nature of her "Blade weapon" (which here would, I suppose, just be Aqua using whichever Keyblade she can summon that looks most like something Aria would have given her..?)
That is the only sort of AU-adjacent thing I can really think of having come up with beforehand, and even then it's more "XC in KH" than anything else. However, here are some other considerations, if you'd like them:
Calanthe and KOS-MOS getting thrown into XC1 instead of XC2 may not be overly feasible, but it's a concept and a half for a number of reasons. Like, imagine being Shulk and co. right after Citri and Fiora get captured at the start of the game - setting out to save them both and taking the fight to the Mechon, and then all of a sudden encountering someone who looks way too much like Citri and has a lot of her same interests (like tech!), alongside a potentially-mechanical? other woman who is incredibly powerful but whose abilities sometimes seem a bit too Mechon-like. Who are both apparently not from this world. And then starting to learn about Faced Mechon and their pilots. And then finding out that Citri and Fiora got turned into Face pilots. There's so much potential for an interesting up-and-down dynamic there, I feel!
My selfship with Zero feels like it could be pretty easily ported into XC2 with how Blades work there and how that can potentially be paralleled with voidsent pacts. You could either make Zero a Flesh Eater given her hybrid nature in FFXIV, or go down the route of her being a Blade that Zenos manages to steal and forcibly resonate with, then maybe Lorenza somehow restoring her memories to her after re-resonating with her? I feel like Lorenza could also fit well as a Blade, though, so hmm.. There are ideas there, but i'm not settled on either one yet.
I'm thinking about the recent Clio rambles.. I'm thinking about the whole "preserving her heart" aspect.. I'm thinking about how I literally described that as being able to take "the Sora route or the Jin route" (if you know then you know) and settled on something more like Sora's for KH.. I'm thinking about Aria taking the Jin route in XC2 and subsequently occupying a position like his in the story.. Yep, nope, that can fit, can't it
Both XC2 and DQIX have an Yggdrasil, and angel equivalents, and so on. I therefore really want to put Pavo and Ardea in here somehow. Maybe, Pavo and Aquila as the Aegis Blades (twin symbolism there would be fun), and then other Celestrians (so, including Ardea) as other Blades.. maybe Ardea becoming a Flesh Eater to represent her loss of wings and halo in DQIX? I feel like this could make Corvus Amalthus (he’s Aquila’s mentor, Amalthus is Malos’ Driver), but surely King Godwin would fit there better given how Indol is.. unless I say the Gittish Empire replace Torna..? Maybe Corvus would be better as the Malos equivalent (final boss and all), so maybe Pneuma could be Celestria - but then where do I put Pavo and Aquila, just ordinary other Blades like Ardea? Or would he be her Driver who then also pretends to be Ardea's despite her not needing one?? There is absolutely something here, I think, but I feel like I may be the only one with enough knowledge of both games to try and make it work. And I currently am not able to make it work, so.. take what you can make of my attempts, I suppose =P
It is now gone two o'clock in the morning and I have to be in the lab tomorrow (though thankfully not until the afternoon), so I should probably leave it there for now. Still, thank you very much for sending this in, friend, and I hope that these are alright as novel concepts ^-^
🌈 for aqua!!
Hi George!! Thank you very much for sending this!!~
I will also be tagging @winds-beloved in this answer, because they happened to ask me the same question! So, thanks to you as well, Merlin!~
(source: this post by bewearships)
send me a 🌈 + one of my F/Os for my sexuality/gender headcanons for them! - ..Despite Aqua being one of my main romantic F/Os (and certainly who I would call the first F/O I "actively" selfshipped with, despite not knowing of the term at the time), I addmitedly don't have any particularly significant or stand-out headcanons for her! If I had to give you a concrete answer at this moment, I'd probably say that sexuality-wise she's a lesbian, while gender-wise she's cis but she has given it a lot of thought before settling on that conclusion.
I hope that this is alright! Thank you again for sending this ask in~
Aqua: "To spend another night beneath the same stars as them again.. That was all I wanted, and now that Ven's back, we're one step away from it. You promised the stars would shine down on us again, too - but this view doesn't mean anything without you here next to me!"
Here is my piece for today, which is the sixth day of the month! Last year, there was a prompt week running this week, and the theme for today's date was "pining". So to update my piece from back then, which was Aria longing for Aqua while holding her Wayfinder, I created this two-image piece of both of us pining for each other. This is during KH3, after Aqua has been rescued from the Realm of Darkness - but even though she should be happy to be back in the light and with her friends again, the fact that Aria is still trapped there alone and Aqua can't go back to save her still hurts.
Tag list: @catake | @masterofmasters | @wazzuppy | @cherry-bomb-ships | @call–me–home | @xenobabble | @beeon | @coralward | @sanderswife | @pandapup | @altamont498 | @mercuryships | @lemonloven (to be tagged in what I make, please see this post!):
Comments on and reblogs of my work are always okay, and appreciated, but are by no means required!~
i found this vanqua fic the other day, it’s only a couple chapters but i like it so far. :3 it does have a ‘creator chose not to add warnings’ label though, so please be cautious. also baby-xemnas aka kotbysleep (nsfw) aka nekokat42 (also nsfw) is a much better vanqua artist than me so please check him out. X’D (heads-up those twitter threads are way longer than you think so make sure you see eeeverything~).
anyway, more wip art below the cut, plus my endless rambling (i talk about 18+ topics, just a warning)—
i’m still working on venqua week and i’ve got 2 more prompts to go, one i haven’t started yet and one i’m halfway done with—
Tumblr media
~aaand yeah i’m re-using it for a vanqua pic too... X’D am i lazy, or just resourceful? you decide. ;P
Tumblr media
but yeah, both of these pics will have an 18+ version as well. i admit i’m super anxious about posting it next week, as i’ve seen just how absolutely toxic fandom is on twitter. like, you thought tumblr was bad? i’ve spent the last few days preemptively blocking literally hundreds if not thousands of antis just so i can feel a little safer posting my content without some asshat calling me a pedo or telling me to kill myself over cartoons. XU i somewhat worry that i’ve accidentally blocked some people who were just joking around and weren’t actually harassing anyone, but it’s just so hard to tell sometimes. if i’ve accidentally blocked anybody here, just let me know so i can unblock you. :3 (idk why that sentence came out so sinister sounding but i’m legit being sincere X’D).
but seriously, idk when fandom suddenly got such a stick up its ass (around 2016-17 from my guesstimate) and decided aging-up a fictional character by a year or two is such a crime, but i guess that’s just the state of things. :T i could draw vanitas as a centaur or make him blond or whatever and no one cares, but aging him by one year? suddenly big problem! yeah, right. XP like, i know i said every character in kh is 17+ as of khmom (ignoring any weird timeline retcons of course), but heck i could make an honest case for the wayfinder family all being adults. hear me out—
it’s been 13 years since bbs, right? and for 12 of those years, aqua was in the realm of darkness, terra had some awareness while being possessed by xehanort, ven experienced some of sora’s life when he was in a coma, and vanitas was almost certainly in ven/sora’s heart as well, so all four of them could be said to be 31, 33, and 29 respectively. it’s not like their character models were any different when they were young teens as opposed to older teens, so can we really be sure they’re not all 30~ by now? heck, since ven is from the age of fairytales i could say he’s 1000 years old if i wanted too! (psst, it’s almost as if these are all fictional characters living in a fantasy world with time travel and whatnot and their ages are completely arbitrary numbers nomura made up on the spot, numbers which he has retconned before! :P).
now i don’t actually think they’re that old, but if people are gonna hassle me over a goddamn 2-year age difference, i might as well say fuck it and have fun with it, right? ;P it’s not like antis even know what the canon character ages even actually are, like when they try to say that skuld is underage when (assuming she’s subject x) she’d be around 28~ by now, or axel and saïx’s age. (maybe i’ll draw some saïx x skuld art and watch the antis lose their minds. ;P it wouldn’t even have to be nsfw to rile them up).
anyway, i do admit i’m feeling a little burned out on art recently. XP i’ve been trying to get one art piece out per week plus venqua week, and yeah it’s kinda taken its toll. i know this really isn’t anything anyone wants to hear, but i’ve been kinda thinking of moving away from fandom projects to work on my own original work. now, i’m not saying i’m abandoning a heart and a half nor anything as drastic as that! but i have spent like 2 years of my life on it just to get to the halfway mark, and i’m not sure i can spend 2 more doing only that.
i’ve got an original story idea that i’ve been working on-and-off on for the past 7 years or so, and i’m thinking of going back to it again (it does need a pretty big re-write). its main pairing is actually pretty vanqua-ish, now that i think about it. like, imagine the realm of darkness but instead of the heartless it’s infested with demons, and the main characters are the demon-slaying duo of a serious yet kindhearted half-angel and a feral, snarky half-demon. i even aged them up from 14 to 18 so none of my potential fans have to suffer the same anti bullshit that i have. XP
Tumblr media
what else can i ramble about... oh, i got these super cute pins for christmas! :D the heartless is by xkirakira, and vanitas and aqua are by maxxmerch. they’re just so cute! X3 i hope everyone had a merry christmas and a happy holiday! i’ll see you guys later. ^3^
.
.
.
*looks around sheepishly* ó3ò alright... confession time. spoilers for a heart and a half for the rest of this post—
.
.
.
sooo~ i’ve kinda hinted at this before, but yeah i’ve always planned on adding a sex scene to a heart and a half; when i started writing back in 2018 i hadn’t realized how hostile fandom had become compared to only a few years ago, and it worries me that some readers might drop the fic because of it, or be angry with me over the underage aspect. :(
idk, i could go on about how i just wanted to explore every aspect of a romantic relationship, or how other disney/square enix characters married or had kids young (ariel, sarah hawkins, héctor, claudia strife, possibly jasmine), or how attempting to apply real-world rules to a videogame fantasy setting is inherently silly and pointless, but really it’s just ‘cause i love vanitas and aqua to bits and i just wanted to write a cute and funny mild sex scene between them (this fic is rated mature, not explicit, so much less graphic than confection affection), and at the end of the day they are just fictional characters, after all.
i guess all i can hope for is that i’m a skilled enough writer to pull it off in a believable way, and that my audience won’t be too put off by it. >_> i know vanitas and aqua have technically only known each other for about 2 months so it might not be ‘realistic’ for them to go so far into a relationship so soon, but i think it’s important to remember that ultimately this is a romantic fairytale, and other canon disney couples haven’t seen nearly as deeply into each other’s hearts as vanitas and aqua have (and this video also helped me feel better about it).
i also wanted to finish that nsfw venqua fic i started a few months back, it’s set just before the mark of mastery so yes ven would be 16. i suppose it’s a way of testing the waters to see what kind of reception i’d get (hopefully positive) before i get to that part of a heart and a half. i was also thinking of including some of the uh, ‘keyblades as erogenous zones’ aspect from this terraquaven fic as well... w-why are you looking at me like that?! it’s funny! *sweats nervously* o3o’
in all honesty, i’m probably just overthinking all this (which, knowing me, is almost a guarantee >_<) and i should just *ahem* let my heart be my guiding key, and just write what i want to write without worrying about it all the time. i just get so anxious so easily... buuut that’s not really news to anyone, now is it? ;P well, i think that’s the end of my endless ramble, thanks for reading if you got this far. X’D and i really hope i didn’t actually upset anybody about a heart and a half. ;_; i just felt like i needed to vent a little, but don’t worry about me, i’m doing fine. anyway, i really should stop typing and get back to work on venqua week, sooo... bye! X3
