the best part about comics and fics where the batkids have to fight a mind controlled Bruce is the inevitable "oh shit" moment when they realize that every single spar with Bruce over the years -- even the ones where they were sparring at full force -- was against a Bruce who still held himself back in some way. because those are his kids.

so I was going through atsv frame by frame (as you do) and I love the onomatopoeia in this (approximately 2-second-long) scene where gwen and hobie are trying to stop this building from collapsing:

first of all gwen's web snapping has the snap onomatopoeia in her pink white & blue and hobie's snap is in his collage style which is awesome attention for detail for something that is onscreen for a culmination of 4 frames tops

then we get this great 4-way splitscreen of the big ol' oh-shit eyes, but keep an eye on the lines dividing it cause one of them is gonna turn into---

---the last web holding up the building, which of course---

---snaps.

(also, the S is in pavitr's vibrant sketchy style, the N is gwen's watercolour, A is miles' comic book style, and P is hobie's collage)

They have to go on a 14 year long journey to finish the job but by god they will do it. #The sheer chaos in the Audio Drama is really fantastic. Reminds me of those traincar murder mysteries. #The lights go off and there's a scream and then BOOM dead body. Who did that!!! #Okay it was qi deviation and he did it to stop himself from killing his brother. He did it to himself. #JGY sadly has the worst alibi ever though. Both the strongest motivation and also uhhh presence at the scene. #Not to nitpick but as someone who loves murder mysteries - I do feel like even *one* other suspect would have made it stronger. #I get that he tried to make it look like an inevitable Qi Deviation and that it *is* something within the family legacy. #And a big part of NHS figuring it all out comes down to his own perceptiveness and intelligence. #If you weren't close enough to JGY and NMJ of course it looks like an accident. #Sadly 'guy who plays the 'poor little meow meow card'' is also weak to 'guy who plays the 'poor little meow meow card''. #NHS was the better subtle manipulator at the end. That's probably the strongest mystery part of MDZS. And why he's in my top 5. #My man pulled the 'kill him just as he falls from the top of his game and loses everything' gambit and I love him for it.

i’ve really enjoyed how they opened the first two episodes not focused on our main characters at all, and showing us just how terrifying the cordyceps infection is.

the scientists at the beginning of the pilot on the talk show, and at first there’s that good-natured talk show feel, but the longer the scientist goes on explaining the cordyceps and how it would be possible for it to survive in humans and imagine thousands upon thousands being controlled, and the whole auditorium goes still and silent, and it ends with just two words, “we lose.”

and then in this episode, with the mycologist and her complete fear after examining the body. the shaking of her hands and the quiet terror in the way she says that there is no cure, no medicine. that the only solution is to bomb the city with everyone in it. and can someone take her home so she can be with her family, because she understands what the scientist said from the first episode. we lose.

#both of these scenes have done such a good job with amping up the tension right at the start of the episode #it’s so so so good #and with this one in particular—the knowledge the audience has that ellie is immune #but for so many people there is so cure there is nothing they can do to stop it. and they lose #it’s just so damn good wow #tlou spoilers #tlou hbo spoilers #tlou hbo #the last of us

I enjoy that he is very flawed and volatile. #This episode of the audio drama has a lot of great breakdown scenes featuring JC - and they all deserve a feature. #But underlying this comic is a small meta comment of 'ah man I have too many comics of JC just wailing sadly' #My goal is to draw 6-8 comics per episode - I sometimes have to truncate and cut good scenes out. #Especially when a large majority is just different flavours of trauma and toxic relationships to your self-worth. #I would also like to make a note here that just because you lose the ability to do something that is very tied to your core identity- #-does not mean your life is over. It will feel like the end of the world. It will send you into a spiral of grief. It will hurt so badly. #Sometimes we do not realize how tied up our identities can be in certain things until we are cut loose. #You don't lose yourself. I promise the pain will fade in time.
