I can’t believe I have to say this again.

But like.

Do not leave comments that bash on the actual show whilst ‘complimenting’ my fanworks. It does not make me happy at all IN FACT I really HATE it when people do that. 

I create stuff for this fandom because I adore the show with all its flaws and everything. I grew up with the show and I adore the characters so much. So when I receive comments or tags saying stuff like “Ugh if only the writers knew how to write like that” or “You should be in charge of canon cos canon is shit lol”, it just fucks up my mood and it makes me feel grossed out. 

There are millions of things out there to write or say to other people about their work without having to bring down canon and what the actual professionals have worked on.

Okay this is silly but am I crazy to think that Screwllum didn't talk like this before? In Silver Wolfs event he just talked like a human but now he says things like "Affirmation:" or "Conclusion:" Does this have like. Lore signifigance? Was it explained? Or did hoyoverse just retcon how he talks?

Actually, he has talked like this the whole time, it's just that in Silver Wolf's companion mission it wasn't used nearly as frequently as in the new story. (To make sure I was remembering correctly, I skimmed the dialogue section of the wiki and found that the amount it was used was around the same for both missions, but since Screwllum had far more dialogue in Punklorde Mentality, its use was significantly more spread out so it wasn't as noticable)

In my opinion, it was better that way. I feel like this sort of speech mannerism is only charming when it's used sparingly, but for every handful of lines? It's a bit awkward and loses its effectiveness pretty quickly. Before, it seemed to me like something he was doing intentionally, turning typically flat and emotionless robotic speech patterns into something more endearing. Now, though, it reads like it only exists because he's a robot and robot characters have to speak a certain way, right? Never mind the fact that Screwllum is far more in touch with emotions (both his own and others') than most robot characters that exist in fiction, and that he tends to speak in a very elegant and poetic way that wouldn't usually blend very well with that blunt, straight-to-the-point style of speaking (unless, of course, a balance is struck between the two...like it was in Punklorde Mentality, maybe?!).

It's not a retcon, per say, because that word usually only applies to major, plot-important elements (as far as I understand it), but it is an inconsistency.

#admittedly this is a pretty minor nitpick in the grand scheme of things #but just look around and you'll find Many examples of this sort of thing happening that are WAY more obvious #I'm not going to blame the writers for that because they're almost certainly on very strict deadlines and don't have Time to fix everything #I AM going to blame the fact that this is a gacha game. I know it's probably been a hot second since you thought about anything RQG, but your tags about making a human fighter makes me want to hear your thoughts about James Ross' character Bertie, if you have any. I personally think he managed to find a good balance between "playing a character who is an awful person" without letting it get in the way of the party and the story being told, and gave the character a very appropriate and hilarious out when he had to leave the show

It's definitely been a while, but I think his curse to be a brave adventurer or be sent to PF1e SRD Superhell was a great way to allow him to also be the worst. If he refused to help his party or those whom they were aiding, he would suffer consequences that a selfish and cowardly asshole like him would find far worse. So he had to do all that while still being racist and classist and all-around terrible. He also did genuinely seem to be friends with Hamid, which I also think helped in that there was someone in the party he felt was "of his station" and who could serve as a bridge (since Hamid, while pretty flawed himself early on, was generally a very pleasant person and would attempt to mediate between Bertie and Sasha or Zolf).

I do think, and this was addressed in one of the Q&A episodes, that Bertie as a concept had something of an expiration date even if James hadn't intended to leave the show. Eventually, he either has to die or change and become a better person. James chose the former, which is very valid, but I agree: I don't think they could have strung this out much longer without someone snapping (in-game, not out obviously).

I think the big takeaway here is nothing new but worth repeating: the most important thing in a game like D&D or Pathfinder is that you have a reason to stay with the party and be an adventurer, and to do that, you need a really solid motivation. There's an old Adventuring Academy (I do not remember which one other than 'probably first season') in which Brennan talks about how he played a good-aligned monk in a party with an evil-aligned character, but because they had a shared goal, the party was able to stick together. You do not need to be a found family (certainly not right away, but also ever), and you certainly don't need to play a kind and pleasant and sweet character, but there has to be a clear reason why you keep adventuring with a group (and, frankly, with this particular group).

an interesting (unpopular? i think?) soukoku opinion i have is i don't think dazai was oblivious to his feelings towards chuuya, like ever. i understand WHY people interpret dazai as having trouble identifying and reckoning with his emotions; i'm not knocking it! there's plenty of evidence to suggest that and also i think it fits with his actions. HOWEVER. for me dazai is the most fun when he's deliberately suppressing and neglecting his own feelings. dazai realizes at the tender age of like 15 that he's at least infatuated with chuuya, and his first instinct is "well how do i compartmentalize that. how do i make sure this doesn't interfere with my plans and our job at the mafia." and then he compromises with his emotions by keeping chuuya close but not allowing himself to seem too affectionate or "trick" chuuya into liking him back. i think this version of dazai is most compelling to me because then the struggle isn't "get blockhead dazai to realize he's in/can love" its "get blockhead dazai to realize he's allowed to indulge in love" which is much more fun, especially when you have seven (or even more, i don't think this mindset would be limited to chuuya) years worth of distancing himself from his own emotions to contend with.

#putting the more negative parts in the tags i think another reason i'm not partial to the “dazai is oblivious to his own feelings” headcanon #is that it sorta implies that dazai isn't self-aware? #which like. he clearly is. i think moments when we (the veiwer) think he isn't self aware is the result of the MEDIA not being self-aware #<- talking about his treatment of akutagawa and other such failures. “don't pity yourself” moment. the whole father thing. #dazai doesn't acknowledge these flaws because the source material doesn't think its a flaw either #but i digress. my point here is that i personally think dazai is so painfully self-aware that it turns into over-rationalizing himself #dazai's emotions to him are just as irrelevant as his physical needs and such like that. #does this make sense? idk #example i'll give: his character growth as he trusts the ada and works less utterly on his own mind #i think dazai is capable of seeing his own trust issues and what not from the very beginning #but it's only after it's been proved to him that him that no total control isn't the most logical option #and in fact trusting his allies CAN work out without pulling every string #that dazai beings to take down (a few) of his walls #its not that dazai doesn't know he has feelings. its that they aren't relevant to him #they cause him grief #fuck up his plans #and (to him) need to be squared away and dismissed as soon as possible #i know that isn't in line with the no longer human novel but WHATEVS #my hcs #bsd #skk #bsd dazai

I know you've talked about your frustration with how difficult it is to make money with fiber art, but would you ever consider selling or trading for the dyed fleece you have? Not like opening an etsy shop and dying fleece just for selling or anything. But like, say I wanted to buy some hand veg dyed wool...you could destash some of what you have....then you could use that money to dye more wool.....infinite wool hack.

I trade my stuff all the time (and am always down to trade hand made and hand processed stuff for other handmade/hand processed !). I dunno if selling dyed fleece would actually be an infinite wool hack though; I haven't really done the math but like, if I buy 2 pounds of raw fleece for $25 (definitely a price I've paid before, idk if its standard for me off the top of my head), once I wash it I likely have anywhere between a pound and a pound a half (depending on breed and how dirty it was, the lanolin and dirt that I wash away can be up to 70% of the weight of a raw fleece, but usually closer to 50% in the breeds I like working with). So I'd have to sell a single pound of washed dyed fleece for like $35 ($10 shipping for 1 pound package is what I just paid at the post office a few days ago) just to get the money back from what i paid for the fleece in the first place--basically paying in labor and foraged materials (so more labor) for the joy of getting to dye wool for strangers. Idk about that. I'd definitely do it if it looked like I could get at least double the cost of the wool for it--Maybe people would pay a lot more, but I'd be a little surprised if that were true, honestly. It's a very nice idea and i wish the world worked that way :(

the name loamsta was made when I was fucking around with a name generator at like 12 am and I combined the word “loam” with a foreign word that I completely forgot what it meant or how it’s spelt but I guess it ended in sta

as for the numbers, they aren’t random :] 612123 is “flaw” translated to numbers, which feels a little weird to admit for some reason. but the planet is flawed. it’s life is based off of stealing from a more resourceful planet, the people are flawed, it’s just a fucked up planet honestly. they haven’t been around for very long so they don’t have past history to teach them lessons and give them warnings, they hardly know what they’re doing lol. also I didn’t want the number to be that long and flaw fit

using word combiners is how I come up with a lot of names for the planet. the names seem pretty latin because I either use animal scientific names or just latin words bc it’s easy

oh this is easy, entirely handmade pieces commissioned from designers like hamcus, mutsu, rick owens, maison margiela. It would be all over the place look and fit wise but the running thread would be rich earth tones with maybe splashes of warm bright yellows. Also, every piece would be made of linen or gambiered guandong silk (also know as mud silk) my two favourite textiles in the world.

Does anyone else ever see a cover for an upcoming comic and instead of doing the sensible thing like look for information about it, you decide “Hey I’m going to make a whole ass headcanon for this unreleased work!” And then forget that about it and when the work is released become incredibly confused that it wasn’t the thing you forgot *you* made up?

No, this isn’t about the Dark Crisis Green Lantern cover with John, Jason, and Kyle where I genuinely thought it was John isekaing into a medieval fantasy au where Kyle was the blind prophet and Jason was his “companion”(husband) and it included scenes like Jason describing the environment to Kyle except with descriptions like, 

“And the trees are the color of that one character’s hair in that show you made me watch.” 

“Naruto?” 

“Yeah that sounds about right.” 

But when they’re farther away from John he softly and lovingly details the surrounding area for Kyle so you know he was mostly fucking around the first time. And every pencil and paint is painstakingly made by hand by Jason with little pockmarks to indicate what colors Kyle is using.
