Can we talk about how last chapter Persephone had that moment with her past self saying she'd protect her, protect herself... and then this new chapter didn't have her do anything at all except stand there. She has ONE line protesting apollo's plan and then shuts down. Everyone else is arguing for her. And like, I don't have a problem with people protecting her but. As a story it's hard to take it seriously when she has this big moment saying she'll protect herself and then nothing comes of it. She also only has SIX lines this whole chapter, and 4 of those are after leaving the press conference with Hera.

god yeah i was already so disgruntled over the "i will always protect you" thing because we KNEW it was just more classic "therapy speak" tacked on for some kind of semblance of girl power, but the next part really does just seal it in doesn't it

like i'm sorry, but persephone telling her younger self she'll "always protect you" is a lie front to back because persephone has not and likely will not do anything to address what happened to her, she has done nothing to bring her rapist to justice, she won't even let other people deal with him so the whole scene is just this random facade of girl power that is anything but. and then we dive into the actual mess of it and like

absolutely unrelated but i love how rachel cannot draw feet facing forward she has to draw them from the side so we have this anatomy twister anyways

the warning ahead of the chapter said "manipulation that causes psychological distress" so couple that with the "i will always protect you" from last chapter, you have either persephone realizing how wholly out of her depth she is at doing that, or you have rachel thinking this is? somehow protective?

like okay it's cool you're angry i guess so are you going to do anything about it? are you going to tell all the people watching live that apollo is a rapist? are you going to point to any of the many gods milling around who know what happened (hermes, for example) and say "hey, these guys can vouch for me that apollo is a predator, he has hurt me before and i have good reason to suspect he's trying to do so again."

and i'm not trying to be coy or nitpicky because again, we are talking about facing a rapist who has caused unimaginable damage and it's very easy for people who haven't gone through that to say "just say something persephone!!!" so my frustration isn't necessarily with persephone herself, it's rachel insisting in the narrative that persephone is healed and getting better and stronger and then failing all across the board to show it. it's rachel having hera come in at the last second to save persephone, while the male admirers in persephone's life fight the male abuser. and it's downright insulting that all the times persephone has had a quote unquote "girlboss moment" it's when she's bullying lesser beings or those who simply cannot defend themselves against her. when she's up against a force that frightens her or is stronger than her, she lets other people do the work. it's just so absolutely disrespectful to abuse victims, to the concept of abuse, and to the idea that persephone is protecting anyone, least of all herself.

When ppl say that there is no stories about friendship I can't help but wonder what do they mean? There are lots and lots cartoons for kids and teens about well, friendship! Its the main point of almost all stories there. I don't like watching movies so I dunno if there are a lot of movies about friendship nowadays but I have watched old films about it. Like yeah it will always have some romance too for main characters or for the background characters bc if your story has like 10+ adult ppl most of them would look for relationship for the sake of building a family or sex. But also if you can excuse how the women are drawn you can just read/watch one piece and like NOBODY has any romance or sex there even though there are like billions of adult pirates.

Summary: Y/n is a great student in her college, always getting good grades. Her college professor Matt, thinks she can get even higher ones with some “extra credit.” That is until she meets her new gym teacher..

“There she is!” Lizzy calls over to me, sat next to 3 other people who I don’t know, she motions me to sit opposite her. “Who are these?” I whisper to her. She chuckles, “this is Ethan, this is Jamie and this is Kelly.” She looks to a blonde girl sat next to her who smiles at me, “I’m new, I think I’m in your English class.” She giggles, “oh nice.” I smile uncomfortably.

I don’t enjoy being around new people, I know you have to be to make new friends but I honestly don’t want new friends. I eat my food silently while they all talk and make my way to the library for the last period, which was a free period. Nobody else who I knew had one so I was alone but it’s usually like that anyway.

Lizzy enjoys being around people, she’s pretty extroverted but not me.

I sit down at a table in the library and open a book, not a book to learn but just a book. Icebreaker. If you weren’t familiar with it, it’s a smutty book so reading it in school is a dangerous task.

I turn to the page I was on and read it. Whilst I was getting into the story, I sense someone looking at me and I turn around. Matt is stood there flicking through a book, he quickly drops his head from looking at me. I pack my book into my bag, placing the bookmark into the page and I walk to him. “Hey professor.” I lean up against the bookcase next to him.

“Oh hey y/n, you okay?” He smiles at me, “yeah I have a free period, what you reading?” I ask him looking at the book in his hands. He shrugs lightly, “I don’t know I just picked a random book,” he laughs quietly due to us being in a library. “Uh, why did Chris make you stay behind earlier?” He slightly leads my arm so we can sit down.

“I threw a dodgeball at Rachel, because she was saying shit about me.” I whisper, he chuckles, “Rachel in the English class?” I nod. “I’ll give her a D- next test if you want.” He grins, “No don’t do that.” I laugh, “I was kidding.”

We chat and I text him so he gets my number and the bell rings so I leave to go home. As I’m walking I get a text from Matts number, “extra credit 6pm? 27 Saques Lane.” I smile to myself before texting back, “sure see u there.”

I feel my cheeks heat up, am I really doing this? I get home and walk upstairs, showering, making myself look presentable and also slipping on a red lacy set, just in case.. I put on sweats and a crop top that shows my cleavage the perfect amount. Am I delusional? What if he doesn’t mean what I think he does? I start to feel anxious but I get a cab to his house.

The cab driver pulls up outside Matt’s and I pay him before hopping out of the car. I walk up his large driveway, this house must have at least 4 bedrooms or more, there’s a minivan in the driveway and a fancy Porsche. “Woah.” I mumble to myself. I knock the door nervously, someone opens the door. “Oh hey..” he says.

“Sorry I’m just heading out now, who are you?” He tilts his head slightly, “oh I’m y/n, I’m here to see Matt?” I speak, anxiety filling my chest. “Oh yeah he’s in the living room, see ya.” He walks past me without letting me say another word. “Okay..” I whisper. I walk in and I can hear music or something coming from the room next to me.

The door is glass so I peer through and see Matt laying back on a big couch facing a modern fireplace with a massive tv on it. How can he afford these things? I think to myself.

I open the door and walk in, Matt instantly turning his head to face me. His gaze softens as he realised it’s me. “I’m so sorry I didn’t hear you knock!” He stands up and walks to me, “it’s fine, the other one of you three opened the door.” I smile, “Nick?” He asks me and I shrug, “probably, it wasn’t Chris so yeah.” I laugh and he chuckles.

“Come sit.” He sits back down and I sit next to him, he turns the TV off and directs his attention to me, “so what extra credit should I do?” I lean closer to him, “like write a short story or do some quizzes or something else..” I look him up and down, the grey sweatpants sitting perfectly and the tight black tshirt is doing all sorts of good things.

“I like the third option.” He whispers before leaning in and brushing my hair out of my face. I know this is wrong but it feels so good. I press my lips to his and I melt into him, his soft lips move against mine perfectly.

He hums against my lips before pulling away too soon. “This is wrong.” He mumbled to himself. “I thought you wanted..” I go to speak but he cuts me off, “I don’t know y/n.. what if I lose my job?” He stands up and wipes his mouth, “fuck.” He breathes out. “I’m sorry..” I fidget with my hands.

“Don’t apologise.. please y/n? I just...” He pinches the bridge of his nose. “I wasn’t thinking straight.. you’re just so.. I don’t know.” He sits on the coffee table opposite me.

“So you don’t want me anymore?” I ask, and he huffs, “No I’m not saying that.. but I also am. I just love my job, and you’re great at the subject but I don’t want this.” He motions between us. My eyes well with tears, “what?” My voice cracks, “don’t cry, please? I’m gonna go for a drive.. clear my head but you can stay here until I’m back if you want.” He smiles and pats my shoulder.

He walks out the door, “what the fuck just happened.” I cry softly to myself, placing my head in my hands. I should’ve know that this wasn’t what he wanted truly. Fuck I feel awful, I’m a slut.

After 5 minutes I stand up to go leave and the front door opens infront of me, Matt wouldn’t be home this quickly, what if it’s Nick? He doesn’t know me and I’m crying in his hallway. “Oh fuck you scared me.” I look up to see Chris, I breathe out softly, “oh shit you okay?” He walks up to my and rests his hand on my shoulder, I shake my head. “No.” I squeak before crying harder.

Without hesitation he pulls me into his chest and hugs me, I pull my head off of him and he looks down, “I don’t wanna get makeup on your shirt.” I whisper and he chuckles. “It’s fine.”

We pull away from the hug, “that’s embarrassing.” I laugh lightly, and he tilts his head, “what is?” I shrug, “I fucking cried in my gym teachers arms.” He laughs softly, “that’s not embarrassing.. but why are you in my house crying?” He leads me to the kitchen and we sit up to the island. “Uh.. fuck I don’t know if I can tell.” I sigh.

“Matt? Right?” He asks. I nod, “We didn’t do anything, he just flipped out.” He cracks his knuckles, “well he is your professor maybe he got scared, he’s never been one to take risks.” Chris leans on the counter smiling at me. I sigh, “yeah but he made me think he wanted something.”

“It’s okay, when is he coming back?” He rubs my back comfortingly, I shrug. “I don’t know, he didn’t say.” Chris nods. The room has gotten tense, not an awkward tension but it’s indescribable.

“What did you mean earlier today?” Chris’ eyes meet mine and he hums in confusion, “when you said there was ways for me to get higher grades, what did you mean by that?” I ask again, the corners of his mouth flick up before relaxing, “it wasn’t what you were thinking..” he smirks.

“What did you think I was thinking?” I lean on the counter infront of me slightly, “I think you were thinking that I was implying something sexual.. weren’t you y/n?” He leans in slightly, I shake my head gently. “No I wasn’t thinking that.. you’re my teacher.” I scoff, “didn’t stop you from trying with Matt huh?” He leant in further.

“The difference between me and him? I like to take risks.” He leant in so his nose brushed against mine before he pulled away. I feel my cheeks redden, he laughs at my nervousness, “do you want-” I go to speak but the front door unlocks and both of us turn to face the door before Chris gets up and walks over to the fridge. Matt walks in and goes to check the living room before he notices me in the kitchen.

“Oh hey.” He spoke softly walking towards me, his eyes dart to Chris standing there opening a can of Pepsi. His jaw tightens, “hey Matty boy you okay?” Chris teases and Matt rolls his eyes, “see ya tomorrow y/n.” Chris spoke as he walks past me, patting my shoulder and going out into the hall. “Did you tell him.. or?” Matt starts to talk.

“I don’t want to talk to you right now.” I sigh, “hey what did I do?” He asks with genuine concern on his face, I scoff. “You led me on to believe you wanted something from me!” I stand up out of the seat. “Come on y/n, I’m your professor.. grow up.” He spoke, I just started walking towards the front door.

“Wait.. wait.” He yelled slightly before grabbing my arm. “Get off.” I hiss. “I’m sorry okay?” He whispers in my ear before letting go. “I’ll see you in tomorrow’s lecture, no hard feelings right?” He smiled and I just opened the door and walked out. I felt angry. Why did he pretend he wanted something and then treats me like shit.

Chris is nice though.. “y/n.. please come back.” I hear Matt calling from behind me and I turn around, I still can’t deny that I find him so fucking gorgeous he’s just kind of a dick.. “what?” I reply. “I’ll bump your overall trade to an A+.. I know how much you want it and you deserve it.” He smiles as he catches up with me, he brushes my hair out my face. “Thanks…” I feel drawn into him.

What kind of spell has he got on me? He’s manipulating me right? “What were you and Chris doing?” He asks me, as his hand rests on my arm, “the thing we didn’t do.” I whisper just to watch his expression change. It did exactly that and his gaze hardens, “what?” He mumbles, “we talked.. me and you haven’t done that.” I turn around and continue to walk away.

I turn away to see him walking back to his house slowly, I can’t let him manipulate me but I just don’t know.. there’s something about him.. but also about Chris.. maybe it’s the fact they’re both my teachers, or maybe it’s because they look the same but are so different at the same time.

I just don’t know what I want..

I wanna see a series rewrite where everything is the same except Percy is blind but can see better than everyone around him and has Katara's ice bending and toph beifong's Seismic Vibration Senses.

Like his dad is called the earth SHAKER so I don't think he can bend the earth too well but Percy is like feeling and making tiny vibrations/Earthquakes with his feet to see. He's super weak to air based projectiles think arrows. Or like literally anything a wind spirit picks up and throws in his general direction.

(He will tap his foot like an angry rabbit when hes stressed or caught off guard. I'm thinking wind spirits since they don't touch the ground OR have any water inside their bodies)

He can also "see" like where all the water is around him in a certain distance. Like mentally he has a 3d map of where things are. He doesn't like going places where theirs not a lot of water/or gorund. he can like tell when people are nervous by the speed of their blood flow/ the rhythm of their hearts. And is super precise with his ice bending be cuz of it.

Maybe Sally dies early or something and like we've got like 7 year old blind Percy wandering the streets but like since he can see where all the monsters are with his vibration earthy senses he can avoid them really well. Like "oh huh that guy has Hoooves? Nope. Percy outta here. Noo thanks." Since the mist is mostly sight based, and stuff, I feel like Percy would have a HUGE advantage.

In cannon it's shown that Percy is like really clairvoyant, what with all his dreams and stuff. So in my au he knows about the big three pact, and is just bullshiting people into thinking he's related to Khione goddess of snow and ice. And desperately trying not to let into the fact that he's blind.

West Side Story (2021 - Songs)

Here’s what I think of (pretty much) all of the songs!

Ok Icl I’m gonna skip the first one by the Sharks cuz I have absolutely no idea what they’re saying 😭 I do plan on looking up a translation at some point however, so I’ll say what I think abt it when I have!

The Jet Song - This song is unfairly catchy 😭 It’s a great introduction to the Jets, and the actual shot in the movie is just amazing, this song absolutely slaps

Something’s Coming - Ok so I actually adore ansel’s voice 😭 I really like this song, and honestly the scene in the movie was actually kinda fun

Maria - Once again I absolutely adore his voice, is he the best ever?? Ofc not, however I definitely think he did this song justice, and overall this whole part of the movie was great

The Balcony Scene (Tonight) - I love this song so much it is actually unreal 😭 This whole scene was the best thing e v e r (although Icl I was absolutely yelling at maria to get back inside before she got caught throughout the whole thing 💀) Also, Ansel and Rachel’s voices blend so well together?? And Rachel’s is just like,,,so s m o o t h it’s perfect

America - This entire song was m a g i c a l, Ariana is such a good Anita, and personally this is my favourite version of the song, and is one of my favourites songs in the whole movie, just because the whole thing was choreographed so well, the dancing is so good I love the whole thing sm, and also I love how Bernardo and Anita have different views on everything! Overall this song is just so fun 😭

Gee, Officer Krupke - Oh my fucking god I love this song sm, not only is it unfairly catchy (as most of the Jets’ songs are) but the entire thing was choreographed and pulled off so well! Although compared to the dance heavy numbers there was obviously a lack of choreography, but in terms of how well the did everything?? (Especially with 2 benches like that’s actually crazy) It was one of my favourite scenes in the whole movie! And I know I have said it a million times but This is why we cast Broadway actors in musical movies 👏👏 they pulled it off perfectly and this whole part of the movie could not have been better

One Hand, One Heart - Once again their voices blend together so well, and I just absolutely adore the way they sound 😭 I can’t remember this scene that well but the song itself is, although relatively short, still really good!

Cool - I also absolutely love this song! The way they moved in the whole scene was awesome, and although a majority of it is just background music as they do their whole lil dance thing, it’s still pretty catchy in my opinion, and is one I find myself listening to often!

Tonight (Quintet) - Holy f u c k, this song is so good! All of the different povs?? Both the Jets and the Shark preparing for the rumble, Anita preparing for Bernardo (clearly not prepared for what was gonna happen), Tony singing about seeing Maria, and Maria singing about seeing Tony, all of the povs work so well together, and this whole entire scene and song is just so ugh 😫 When Maria’s part overlaps the Jets, then Anita joining in, and then hearing everyone all blend togther, it is literal perfection and is s o good it’s unreal, I adored this whole lead up to everything, and the song is amazing!

I Feel Pretty - This song is actually kinda fun 😭 The whole scene was such a 180 compared to seeing the rumble before, and honestly I love it sm! Rachel and everyone elses voice are also great, and it honestly is just such a catchy song

Somewhere - I believe this was originally Tony and Maria’s song (pls correct me if I’m wrong tho!) but having Rita sing this was a m a z i n g, her voice is just so,,raw Ig 😭 The emotion was incredible, and the fact that she recorded this live?? Like hello share some talent with me pls 🤲 But honestly Rita is awesome, and the fact they were able to get her in the movie, and gave her a song is the best thing ever!

A Boy Like That / I Have a Love - Both Ariana and Rachel were such good calls casting wise for Anita and Maria, their voices are literally so powerful they’re so good 😭 The way Anita’s voice is lower, and Maria’s voice is sm higher, yet they still blend together? But also how they blend together in such a chaotic way, which really conveys the emotions they were both feeling during the song - Anita is more,,angry and closer to yelling, yet Maria is so much softer, she’s clearly in love, and the way she sings conveys that so well (Also Rachel’s high notes at the end?? And the way their voices go together so smoothly at the end as well)

The score/soundtrack in general - It was so good, the entire score is iconic, there is not a bad song in this whole musical, and each backing track suits the tone of the scene perfectly, I honestly could not ask for a better score and soundtrack - you can clearly hear how much work, how much thought has gone into this whole sountrack and movie, and it is perfect

Completely random but I need to pay homage to the whole dance at the gym, the backing track for starters, but mainly the choreography, cuz it was done so well and I absolutely love that entire scene sm! I love this movie with my whole heart, and I am so glad it was made! I definitely want to do a part 3 of this at some point with what I thought about the characters (and possibly also the casting, but the casting was perfect anyways so I probably wouldn’t have much to say abt that 😭) Thanks for reading to anyone who made it to the end!

yeah totally! here are some—

a recent favorite is you must remember this, the film history podcast by karina longworth. the show explores everything hollywood's first century can tell us about the surrounding cultural ideals, shifts, etc. and it's so impressively researched by someone who knows a ton about movies. i started with the most recent season called “erotic 80s” and now i'm in the middle of “make me over” which is about hollywood and the beauty industry. cannot wait for the next season "erotic 90s" but thankfully there's also a huge back catalog.

aack cast, jamie loftus' podcast miniseries about the cathy comics. you don't actually have to know much about cathy to enjoy this lol, the comic is sort of a gateway to investigate the lives of boomer women when it comes to feminism, consumerism, work, etc. it's a mix of interviews, jamie's writing, and even some narrating of the comic strips. i really like all of jamie's shows, she has a really natural style that is funny and curious and heartfelt. her lolita podcast is another favorite that is stylistically similar but obviously heavier territory.

between the covers with david naimon is a longform author interview podcast, i love it because david is best interviewer i have ever heard in any context. he really close-reads his guest's books and comes up with these very thoughtful thematic questions that draw out conversations about craft, social justice, society and culture, feelings, and a million other tangential things. i would recommend starting with an episode about a book you've read before, but now i use it for recommendations or just to listen to interesting people talk even if i don't know their work previously. i also really like commonplace with rachel zucker which is similarly in-depth, it has a different but also wonderful interview mood.

some other shows i like: the allusionist, everything that branched off you’re wrong about (YWA, you are good, maintenance phase, if books could kill), twenty thousand hertz, decoder ring, literary friction, poetry off the shelf, vs., thresholds with jordan kisner, articles of interest, american hysteria. when i just want to listen to friends talking i like poog with kate berlant and jacqueline novak. and the podcast form of democracy now for news. always looking for new stuff if anyone has suggestions! ❤️

eddie hates walking long distances and is always asking for piggyback rides ( adding to the eddie should hate nyc but when anyone brings it up he gaslights them cause he has always wanted to live there agenda )

however eddie loves running and is always racing people because he knows he will win even though hes short ( richie hates it cause his legs are too long and he is really awkward and oddly slow when he tries to run. if he actually gets fast he almost always trips cause he is so clumsy and then eddie is way in front of him )

bev gives richie and bill amateur piercings full parent trap style and at least one of them gets infected. when they r older she convinces ben to let her pierce his ears. eddie hates it and is always like “i am not helping when it gets infected” but does anyway

she also makes friendship bracelets and the losers freak when they find out and they all are always wearing at least two

in some an au stan becomes an ornithologist but like just in an au where the losers dont split up during the time jump they buy him a bird like as soon as they move out of derry and it is stans favorite thing ever

stan is really good at hiding his emotions but he always stims when he is overwhelmed or upset and it is a clear giveaway. he has been doing it since he was really little and now cant stop

mike loves animals and shows off all the farm animals to the other losers and also def has a dog that eddie loves but pretends not to even though the dog also loves him

mike is also the loser who everyone goes to for advice for literally anything and has the ability to make anyone feel better like instantly the others have no idea how he does it

ben loves the act of designing buildings but was never that good at math so college was a little rough. also his interest in archeology started after he read percy jackson in middle school cuz annabeth loved archeology

he also slips into a country accent whenever he gets really comfortable and the losers think its amazing ( richies country accent is just him trying and failing to copy ben )

richie and ben light up the room when they are truly happy. richie because his happiness is loud and unavoidable and ben because his radiates off him in waves and spreads to those around him

C H A P T E R T W O – B U T T O N

"Oi." Levi spoke, his arms across his chest. "Listen, you're going to be put into training groups of 4. You're going to spar each other and test your ODM gear skills."

The group nods in unison. "Yes, sir."

"The groups are as follows." Levi lists off names while you anxiously waiting for him to utter your name.

"Lastly, Kirstein, Ackerman, Yaeger, and..." Levi said your surname, almost in a softer tone than the others.

You and Mikasa are arguably the strongest in the regiment, after Captain Levi of course. You're both super fast and work well together when it comes to fighting titans.

Jean and Eren, well they need some help.

"I think he made this group on purpose." Mikasa whispered in your ear. You freeze for a moment. Did she know about you and Levi?

"Why do you think that?"

"We're obviously the strongest and most skilled. Eren and Jean are almost there, but not on our level. So we can show them how its done."

One thing about Mikasa is that she always has her eye on the goal. In the scout regiment, it's to save humanity.

You strap on the ODM gear, tightening the straps around your thighs.

"I wish I could live in between these thighs." Levi kissed the inside of your thigh, trailing his mouth to the fabric of your panties.

Shaking the thought out of your head, you look for your group. Eren and Jean were arguing (per usual) while Mikasa rolled her eyes behind them.

Captain Levi was observing next to Commander Hange. She was always so enthusiastic about watching us train, especially when she just finished an experiment with titans.

"Hey," Jean said your name, waving you to go over to him. "Wanna spar?"

"Sure." You smile, making sure your ODM gear is in tact. While you and Jean maneuver around each other, you feel a pair of eyes on you.

Jean trips over a rock on the ground, pushing his body against yours to the ground.

"You would trip over a tiny ass rock." You laugh as Jean is still on top of you, a chuckle leaving his mouth.

"I fight fucking titans, but a ROCK is what fumbles me."

"What's going on over here?" Levi's voice boomed. You heard his footsteps near your feet. "Kirstein. On your feet."

"Sorry Captain, I tripped. I didn't see that rock." Jean pointed to the rock, brushing his shirt off before helping you up. You take his hand, a bit tighter than normal. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, really." You nod, looking down at your body. The button to your shirt popped open at your chest, revealing your clavicle.

"You need to see a nurse." Levi analyzed your body.

"I don't even think I have a scratch, Captain. Really it's fine."

"That wasn't a question." Levi turned around before you could speak. No part of your body hurt, and it's not like Jean did it intentionally.

You turn to head to the main building with the nurses office, rolling your eyes because this is certainly a waste of time.

As you reach the office, you hear familiar footsteps.

"Captain, don't waste your time on this." You look at Levi. "I'm really fine. It's not like Jean did it on purpose, and I barely fell."

"You could have internal injuries. Maybe a concussion."

"You're being ridiculous." You almost lose your composure as you walk into the nurses office. "I'm fine."

"Well I need to make sure that's true."

"You look good, cadet." The nurse, Rachel, patted your knee. "You have a little bruise on your chest, but it's nothing to worry about."

"See?" You look at Levi. "Can I go back to training now?"

"No." Levi turned on his heels, exiting the office.

You were stunned. Confirmation from the nurse that you're okay means nothing?

You follow Levi out the door, trying to catch up to him. "Captain, a word please."

Levi turns around, his steel eyes fixed on yours.

"Why can't I go back to training? We have a mission at the end of the week that Commander Erwin has developed a whole plan for. You need me to fight."

"You need to rest today, I can't have you at anything less than your best. Especially because of the mission." Levi took a step toward you. "That's an order."

Your eyes wander around Levi's face, his undercut fresh, his eyes that beautiful shade of stone that you love.

Loved.

You take another step towards Levi, hoping he would move away from you so you can forget these feelings once again.

But he doesn't. He just looks at you, your body, almost fixating on your chest. Your button was still popped, some sweat dripping down your breasts from the end of summer/autumn air.

Levi's tongue grazed his bottom lip. "Button your shirt. Before you get dress-coded."

With that, Levi is gone.

During dinner, Jean kept stealing glances of you. When he fell on you, there was some sort of spark. You've never looked at Jean in that way, but now it's more of a possibility.

Especially since you're no longer sleeping with Levi.

"How are you feeling?" Jean asked you, sliding his leg close to yours. He was sitting next to you, Connie and Sasha were next to him, and Eren, Mikasa, and Armin were on the other side of the table.

"I'm fine, really. Don't worry about me." You take a sip of your water.

"Nice one, Jean. You could've been in deep shit if you actually hurt her." Eren rolled his eyes.

"You're acting like I did that on purpose!"

"Maybe you did." Eren smirked. "Not to hurt her, though."

"Shut up Eren." Jean's eyes were wide. Jean is no good at hiding what he's feeling – you can tell all over his face. It's obvious Jean has a tiny crush on you, you've just never given him that time of day.

"Jean, do you wanna go for a walk?" You suggest, standing up from the table. Jean nodded and followed you out, Eren making kissing noises from the table.

"Are you sure I didn't hurt you?" Jean questioned.

"Please stop asking. If I was hurt you would know." You look up at the night sky, watching the moon. "You know, when I was younger I always thought the moon was following me."

"Me too." Jean laughed. "I would always close my eyes for a minute, hoping the moon would be hiding."

Jean told you about his childhood, about his family and what he likes to do for fun. Well, liked. Before the scouts.

He's very easy to talk to, unlike some people.

"What do you two think you're doing?"

Who inspired your OC?

Jeremiah appeared out of nowhere & isn't inspired by anyone! I was in Maryland when I created him during a writing sprint. He wasn't supposed to be a major character but the chemistry between him and Harrison took me by surprise that I had to keep going. I'll paste the first note I have of JJ under the cut (and the scene it turned into for those wondering about my drafting process).

Jeremiah is the WARMEST greeter in the world. He would def go for a hug after asking (UNLESS he knew you don't like hugs--like me!).

OKAY RACHEL FUN DRAFTING INSIGHTS BELOW!!

So a big part of the Moth Work drafting process occurred on my PHONE!!! As a teenager I didn't always have my computer on me lol (me in my 20s with my emotional support laptop lmao), so I wrote a lot of "scene skeletons" in the notes app. I actually envyyyy this process looking back because I RARELY think when I write now <3

But here's the very first Jeremiah note, though I did actually create him DURING the writing sprint (lol I love my brain):

At the motel Harrison becomes interested in Jeremiah. On their first night him and Lonan fall asleep only for Lonan to be missing along with the car the next morning. Harrison, distressed, is noticed by Jeremiah who is finished with his night shift. He realizes he’s distressed and asks if he’s okay. Do you need a ride somewhere? He asks Harrison. Harrison nods. They go to the Chinese restaurant and get the egg rolls. Harrison learns Jeremiah is a part time student at the university. He’s charming and wears a bracelet and has scribbly tattoos on his forearm. Harrison goes back to his apartment after breakfast and he fixes him a drink. Jeremiah puts on disco music and dances and Harrison is entranced by the way he moves. Harrison takes off his jacket and slings it on the back of the bar chair. You live here alone? My roommate is backpacking in Vietnam. He passes him his drink. How long have you worked at the hotel? Since I moved here. It pays the bills. Dance with me? Jeremiah asks. Harrison gets up and they move together, limber limbs. The music moves through his throat and the drink is good. He’s successfully enchanted by this boy.

The above note became three separate scenes, most of which is the penultimate scene in chapter 5 (Dead Disco).

The next morning when the light filters through the cheap lace curtains and the hum of the freeway harmonizes with the birds, Harrison wakes up to find Lonan gone. At first, he doesn’t panic—it’s easy to list solutions for his absence. It’s easy to check the bathroom and excuse the miniature bottle of shampoos sitting in place like pieces on a game board, the towels still folded, as Lonan being extra methodical. It’s easy to head outside to check if he’s on the porch with a box of cigarettes, and easy to excuse the empty space as a walk gone on too long. It’s easy to head to the lobby to check for a dining area only to realize there isn’t one. What isn’t easy is finding an answer for the missing car when he checks the lot ten minutes later.

2. "He realizes he’s distressed and asks if he’s okay. Do you need a ride somewhere? He asks Harrison. Harrison nods. They go to the Chinese restaurant and get the egg rolls."

Harrison continues fiddling with his zipper. He retraces the night previous, from check-in, to losing the car, to finding Lonan with the cigarettes, every word a curse, how of course he took the keys, how of course Harrison was too angry last night to notice. The sunlight scabs the ceiling of Greta, the parking space the car once idled in now empty. So many directions to turn—out of the front lot, the back, left on the main road, or right. Harrison looks back at Jeremiah who’s still fluffing his hair with the pick. “Is there a place close by where I can grab something to eat? Or at least a coffee?” he asks. Jeremiah leans back to grab another stack of those familiar coupons. He sets them down on the desk and says, “I think you know my stance on these egg rolls. I’ll take you.”

And the rest of the note (in JJ's apartment):

Disco isn’t dead. It’s all an illusion. This is what Jeremiah says when Harrison asks why he has a disco ball hanging from his popcorn ceiling. His apartment is small and decorated like it’s Paris in the 70s, broad windows, a dozen mason jars of propagated ivy. Harrison sits on a barstool at the counter. His head has stopped pounding because Jeremiah gave him Ibuprofen and a vat of hard candies to suck on. He currently mixes him a cocktail behind his kitchen island and it’s blue like Lonan’s eyes so Harrison drinks it without looking.    Harrison knows he shouldn’t drink around a stranger, but Jeremiah’s got a handmade bracelet and scribbly tattoos on his forearm so it’s hard not to trust him. Photo prints of hostels in Japan, statues in Europe, cathedrals in Paraguay decorate the walls in perfectly cut rectangles. Each is plumed with a dried flower and it reminds Harrison so much of Emily, he looks away, back to the Lonan-coloured drink. He studies the shot glass like it isn’t transparent, the grooves around the perimeter, the engraving that reads Cancun 1987. He loses Jeremiah’s absent swish around him and gets lost in the blue. The trifecta amazes him, how a colour as unnatural as this has manifested in Lonan’s eyes, his earring, this drink. He tips the glass back and finishes it in one go, and even though it’s strong of artificial blueberries, his mouth is tasteless. “You live here alone?” Harrison asks. The apartment overlooks the strip across the street and Harrison gets lost in it, the artificial signs like bad advertising, the neons ill, an influenza. When he looks toward Jeremiah again, his glass is refilled, and he can’t remember if he emptied it in the first place. “My roommate’s backpacking in Vietnam.” Jeremiah’s earring pings off the disco ball, and it creates a constellation on the ceiling. It could be Orion; it could be the Ursa Major. “You like the drink?” Harrison doesn’t want to say he tastes nothing, that he sees nothing but Lonan at the bottom of the glass at full retina, that he hardly understands the concept of blue. He is so numb when he stands that his feet meeting the hardwood feels like floating. Harrison slings his jacket off his shoulders and throws it over the barstool. Words enter and exit his mouth like gunfire, and he hears his heartbeat like the organ has moved to his eardrums. Jeremiah doesn’t comment when he twitches the nob on the radio, pooling through the channels. He doesn’t comment when Harrison lands on a throwback station brimming with the 80s, takes him by the palm and leads him under the disco ball. Jeremiah is intuitive and easy on the eyes, and this isn’t as difficult as Harrison thought it would be—he blinks Lonan away and keeps blinking.

The Duchess of Basics Somebody made a post earlier today that showed Meghan dancing and she is awful. It occurred to me that she had years of lessons for this, was in school plays, was a theater major at Northwestern. And then tried to be a professional actress. Such a basic person, so ordinary.All the kids who are in school plays at my daughter's high school, even the ones who play smaller parts (as well as my friends' kids who are only in elementary school and do school plays) all can sing and dance. It boggles my mind that she couldn't do at least that, for being in that field/extracurricular, and later in that industry. And then she doesn't speak to her dad for 2 months in high school for not backing out of being the lighting director for the school play b/c they didn't put her in the lead. Awful lazy, entitled, delusional woman.I don't think she ever really wanted to be an actress in terms of being the star of a TV show, having consistent work, etc. She just wanted to be in that business to be noticed and get married to a rich guy, or be the face of a charity or something (like Angelina Jolie was for refugees), but without doing any other work first).I think she ended up having to do even something like 6th billing on Suits because she had no prospects that were getting the incredible wealth and power she thought she was entitled to.
