Liev Schreiber was born Isaac Liev Schreiber on October 4, 1967, in San Francisco, California. His mother's name was Heather Schreiber, and his father's name was Tell Carroll Schreiber. His father was a stage actor and director, and his mother was Jewish. His family was wealthy, and his maternal grandfather came from Ukraine. Schreiber and his family moved to Canada when he was a child.
Due to problems between his parents, his mother had to take him away, which made his father send detectives after them.
