"Careful, Your Majesty," came a voice beside Gil-galad. "You are straying a bit too close to 'obvious' this evening. I advise you let your eyes linger elsewhere, if at least for an hour."

"I beg your pardon, Counsellor Erestor." Gil-galad straightened his back against the uncomfortable throne and willed his eyes to stay on the dance floor. "Where did you say my eyes were straying?"

"I do not know, Sire. Where were His Majesty’s eyes straying?" asked the counsellor. "You need not tell me, but wherever it was, I am only saying that you may want to look elsewhere."

"Duly noted. Thank you."

It took only a moment, a beat in the music and a turn in the dancing before them, before Erestor was speaking again.

"I mean he does look good tonight."

Against his better judgment, Gil-galad glanced to where the impertinent adviser told him not to look.

"He was telling me earlier about the journey. He reports that Númenor is thriving beyond expectations." He paused—for effect, Gil-galad was sure, because Erestor was nothing if not dramatic, however vehemently he denied it. “The fair weather also seems to have given him a good tan."

Gil-galad sighed. "Erestor, I thought you said not to look? That does not help."

"Consider it a test of will, Sire. It is good exercise from time to time."

The old king rolled his eyes. Some days he wondered why he kept this Elf at court.

"You do not think he is too young?" he found himself unwisely asking.

"I think too young is the least of your concerns." Erestor's voice, at least, was thankfully discreet. "He is your cousin, your charge, he cannot give you heirs, and worst, he has atrocious organisation skills and training him in this has thus far been a nightmare."

"Yes, that is indeed the worst of it all."

"But his heart is golden and pure,” continued Erestor, “and he thinks the best of everyone. It is admirable, if a bit naïve, but you can trust no other more."

“Not even you?”

“You think me trustworthy, Sire?”

“Ah. Good point.”

THE LEGEND OF STINGY JACK

Irish folklore is full of descriptions of a mysterious character known as Stingy Jack. A drunkard and cheat, Jack manages to swindle the devil.According to legend, Jack convinces Satan to turn into a coin to pay his bar tab, explaining that the devil can then turn back into his demonic form and escape. Satan agrees and Jack sticks the devil-coin into his wallet, which also contains a crucifix, sapping Satan’s powers and trapping him. Jack only releases the devil after he promises not to take his soul.

Eventually, Jack dies, but is refused access to heaven for his sinful deeds, and barred from Hell because of the deal he made. Satan however gives Jack a single ember from Hell which Jack put inside a turnip to light his way as he roams the world between the dead and living, trying to lure people to their deaths in hopes of meeting the devil again.

This is an 18+ blog, my creative work often leans towards darker themes. I’ll tag to the best of my abilities, but I also expect people to curate their own experiences. For a general idea of more specific triggering themes, please see the about page.

Shows you should save physically immediately

Over the Garden Wall -- It's being pulled from HBO Max on August 31 and knowing HBO, there's a chance it'll be pulled sooner. *I have now made a Google Drive of all the episodes of OTGW. Please, please, please, PLEASE, save these on a physical device.

The Owl House -- Disney has tried to bury this show many times (giving it a weird release schedule, cutting the budget, etc) and has even cancelled the show. Also, Disney+ is going to nuke their catalogue soon and I doubt TOH will survive*I have now also saved all the episodes of TOH. Click here for the posts with all of the episodes

Amphibia -- I know less about the behind the scenes BS than TOH but Amphibia was screwed over by Disney mainly by poor promotion. Also since one of the protagonist is openly bisexual*, like TOH, I really can't imagine this would survive.*Amphibia has also been saved. Go here for the post with all the episodes.

Steven Universe -- Cartoon Network cancelled Steven Universe and gave it a weird release schedule, it has also just been pulled from HBO Max.

Gravity Falls -- Once again, Disney+ is going to nuke their catalogue at some point in the future and between Wendy being canonically bi, Sheriff Blubs and Deputy Durland being in a relationship, and Alex Hirsch (being the amazing man that he is) constantly calling Disney out on their BS, I imagine that Disney would be more than willing to nuke Gravity Falls. *I’ve also saved Gravity Falls now go to the main post here to see all the episodes.

and most importantly

Every single show, book, game, fanfiction, movie, etc you've ever loved

We now know that at any moment's notice, streaming services can and will just nuke their catalogue without hesitation. If it's digital, it can be removed and there's a likely chance you'll never see it again.

So, please take some time to save anything you love on an external device. It could be a box set (it can be official or fan-made one), a USB, or anything.

If you have a physical copy of something, it's yours forever and no one can take that away from you.

*Edit because I’ve seen some confusion about this. Read this again, it’s “one of the protagonists” not “the protagonist.” Sasha is the one who’s bi, Anne’s sexuality hasn’t been confirmed.

Also in addition to this, people have reblogged this to say Steven Universe is still on HBO. Since I don’t have HBO, I’ve been going off of what people have been saying and I’ve seen it mentioned that HBO was taking off SU. You should still save it though.

Everyone talks about how Appa is apparently obese for a sky bison and Aang is over feeding him. Undeserved in my opinion (hes just big boned obviously)

But nobody talks about how Druk (Zuko's dragon) is a complete fatass compared to other dragons.

For example: These are pics of Roku's Dragon, Fang, and Sozin's Dragon

Do you see how long and noodley they are. They're actual dragons too, not Wyverns like GoT dragons. (Note the 4 legs)
