Mastering Microlearning: Harnessing Bloom's Taxonomy for Effective Learning
Tumblr media
Introduction
In the realm of training, Bloom's Taxonomy stands as a cornerstone framework for designing learning objectives and assessing learning outcomes. With the rise of microlearning – a strategy that delivers small, focused learning units – integrating Bloom's Taxonomy becomes paramount for ensuring that learning experiences are comprehensive and impactful. In this article, we delve into the principles of Bloom's Taxonomy and explore how it can be effectively utilized in the context of microlearning to enhance learning outcomes.
Understanding Bloom's Taxonomy
Developed by educational psychologist Benjamin Bloom in the 1950s, Bloom's Taxonomy classifies learning objectives into six hierarchical levels, organized from simple to complex cognitive processes. These levels are:
Remembering: Recalling information or facts.
Understanding: Grasping the meaning of information.
Applying: Applying knowledge or skills in new situations.
Analyzing: Breaking down information into parts and understanding relationships.
Evaluating: Making judgments based on criteria and standards.
Creating: Generating new ideas, products, or solutions.
Bloom's Taxonomy provides a framework for educators to design learning experiences that foster higher-order thinking skills and promote deep understanding.
Integrating Bloom's Taxonomy into Microlearning
When applied to microlearning, Bloom's Taxonomy serves as a guide for structuring learning content and activities that promote meaningful engagement and learning. Here's how each level of Bloom's Taxonomy can be integrated into microlearning:
Remembering (Recall):
Microlearning modules can include brief quizzes or flashcards to reinforce memorization of key facts or concepts.
Utilize short audio or video clips to recap essential information covered in previous modules.
Understanding (Comprehension):
Present microlearning content in a clear and concise manner, using multimedia elements to enhance comprehension.
Incorporate examples, case studies, or scenarios to help learners grasp the meaning of complex concepts.
Applying (Application):
Include interactive simulations or scenarios that require learners to apply their knowledge to solve practical problems.
Provide real-world examples or case studies that illustrate how concepts can be applied in different contexts.
Analyzing (Analysis):
Break down complex topics into smaller components, with each microlearning module focusing on a specific aspect of analysis.
Encourage learners to compare and contrast different perspectives or approaches to a problem through short activities or discussions.
Evaluating (Evaluation):
Prompt learners to critically evaluate information or arguments presented in microlearning modules.
Include opportunities for peer feedback or self-assessment to encourage reflective thinking and evaluation of one's own learning.
Creating (Creation):
Engage learners in creative activities that allow them to generate new ideas, designs, or solutions.
Encourage learners to collaborate on short projects or assignments that involve creating something tangible or innovative.
Benefits of Using Bloom's Taxonomy in Microlearning
Promotes Higher-Order Thinking: Integrating Bloom's Taxonomy into microlearning encourages learners to engage in higher-order cognitive processes, such as analysis, evaluation, and creation, leading to deeper understanding and critical thinking skills.
Enhances Learning Outcomes: By aligning microlearning activities with Bloom's Taxonomy, educators can design learning experiences that target specific cognitive skills and learning objectives, resulting in more effective learning outcomes.
Facilitates Personalized Learning: Bloom's Taxonomy provides a framework for designing personalized learning paths tailored to individual learner needs and preferences, ensuring that each learner receives content at an appropriate level of complexity.
Encourages Active Engagement: Incorporating diverse activities at different levels of Bloom's Taxonomy promotes active engagement and participation among learners, fostering a dynamic and interactive learning environment.
Provides Clear Progression: Bloom's Taxonomy offers a clear progression of cognitive complexity, allowing learners to scaffold their learning from basic recall to higher-order thinking skills, providing a sense of achievement and progress.
Case Study: Implementing Bloom's Taxonomy in Microlearning
Imagine a corporate training program aimed at improving employees' customer service skills. By integrating Bloom's Taxonomy into microlearning modules, the training program can be structured as follows:
Remembering: Employees recall the key principles of excellent customer service through short quizzes or flashcards.
Understanding: Employees watch brief videos explaining different customer service scenarios and how to respond effectively.
Applying: Employees participate in interactive simulations where they practice handling various customer service situations.
Analyzing: Employees analyze case studies of real customer interactions to identify areas for improvement and best practices.
Evaluating: Employees assess their own performance in customer service scenarios and receive feedback from peers or supervisors.
Creating: Employees collaborate on developing innovative solutions to common customer service challenges and share their ideas through short presentations or discussions.
Conclusion
Integrating Bloom's Taxonomy into microlearning offers a powerful approach to designing effective and engaging learning experiences. By aligning microlearning activities with the cognitive processes outlined in Bloom's Taxonomy, educators can create targeted learning modules that promote deep understanding, critical thinking, and practical application of knowledge. As organizations continue to embrace microlearning as a flexible and efficient training solution, leveraging the principles of Bloom's Taxonomy will be instrumental in maximizing the impact of microlearning initiatives and driving positive learning outcomes.

Modality & the Zodiacal Signs
This writing is issued in 2 points of emphasis. If you are looking for basic information on the Modes stick to the bold text, for a more intermediate explanation of the modes and signs include all.
I am not including the physical characteristics, because in my opinion this gets carried in ways that need a deeper understanding of the moon and ascendant as well as temperament, but I have included very limited details of ailments since we cannot talk about body parts without mentioning their association to health.
As the sun moves North and South of the equator the yearly course is marked by four critical turning points. These are the solstices and equinoxes which initiate the seasons.
Dividing this movement into 12 equal portions of 30 degrees marks the zodiacal signs. These markings can vary based on the system, whether it is tropical, sidereal, or western sidereal—which has caused confusion & great debate. This is for another time though and for the purpose of clarity, I will be using the Tropical Western system as has been used in the tradition of Western astrology since the 4th century BCE.
Basic differences between these systems:
Sideral provides more of an outer or transpersonal perspective of the souls in relationship to the galaxy that both exists and that we may see post-existence through the shining of dead stars.
Tropical provides the of our relationships to the Sun, as it pertains to our experience on earth.
Both are valid and accurate providing a different landscape or served perspective.
The Zodiacal signs in the nativity serve 3 primary functions in Astrology
To truly understand the variations and historical development I recommend that you take the to time read the source material listed at the end.
The bush broad strokes into something like an ancient class-like system. As images with mythic associations give us the shape of behavior and allude to physical characteristics. When framed as configurations we can see familial or interpersonal relationships of the native. And as residences, this articulates resources and power the native holds or has access to. The constellations themselves were likely set up and are used as such to be the dwelling places of the gods/planets.
For this reason, in the study, a firm understanding of the planets should come before and not after the study of the zodiacal wheel.
Moveable Modality
Moveable or Cardinal signs issue the modality of the beginning of seasons. Corresponding to the first degree of Aries-Spring, Cancer-Summer, Libra-Autumn, Capricorn-Winter.
These signs are action-oriented and are the initiators of the zodiac; loving to start new things. Moveable signs are great at taking risks and making changes but can also be impulsive and restless.

Additional Notes to consider:
When terms like violent or destructive are used this is because the domicile or exalted planet is malefic.
Being whole implies strength, and that these signs are less liable to accidents.
Bestial codification notes on the core instinctual action of the individual.
Free versus servile; the implications of a free sign defines a poised posture, running, standing tall and to be servile or of servitude defines poor posture or slouching, sitting & fatigue, and possible wearyness of the mind.
In single form we consider independence and in dual form this is being with others/companionship.
Vocal is to be a good speaker, semi-vocal of few or select/disorganized verbal communication, and mute or the lacking of voice implies little speech, and stuttering through verbal communication.
Refrences to being unprolific, fertile, or barren is in relationship to the potentials of procreation.
Traits are assumed to be seen through the Asc and Moon sign weighted more heavily and subjectively—as both of the points signify the body.

Time for a teaching rant! Things I learned in college that changed me. Not necessarily a negative rant, just an observation with a healthy dose of frustration.
So in teaching college I learned about learning styles about how important it is to incorporate all types of learning styles in your lesson. Visual, auditory, kinesthetic, etc. As a kid either they didn't know about this shit or my teachers never bothered with it. Because for so many classes I was completely disengaged and often wasn't learning except to regurgitate info at test time only to forget it when I didn't need it anymore. Because they only taught with books or lecture.
*However* when i got to college and learned about the different learning styles, I was SHOOK when I realized I was 100% a kinesthetic learner. AKA I learned by doing things hands-on. Someone shows me how to do something in front of me and then they watch me do it and correct me as I'm going if I mess up. If we can do it step by step together it's even better. This is why I was SO successful in art classes, that was their primary mode of teaching. The fact that I didn't realize I wasn't retaining or caring about information was because they weren't teaching it in a way I could grasp blew my mind. And it explained a lot of reasons why learning new tasks at work was difficult for me, because my manager at the time would tell me and give me a job aid—a packet with written instructions. When I realized I was a fully kinesthetic learner I told him that, told him what that meant, and asked if he could modify the way he teaches me things. Because he was baller he DID and just GUESS who became one of his best and most efficient managers within a couple of weeks? Yeah. Rather than constantly asking him to repeat things he's told me a million times all he had to do was give me a quick 10-20 minute hands on situation and I would know it perfectly. Sure it took more time in the moment but it paid off and saved time reteaching in the end.
Another thing is that while I LOVE learning new things, I am horrible at teaching myself new things. Classes—hands on classes—are almost a must. Learning new languages is something I love doing but I cannot teach myself very well. I need to be in a physical space with other learners in order for anything to stick. Same with a lot of other things. I can remember random interesting facts, but I cannot teach myself something completely new without being in a classroom. Idk if it’s because they completely neglected teaching kids how to be independent in learning or if it’s just how my brain is wired, but it is frustrating to say the least.
My main gripe/rant is that I fucking wish they would teach kids learning styles earlier. If I had known I needed to be hands on in everything I did I would have likely actually enjoyed school and obtained way more information. Another reason why I was also good at science because in science you do labs, which is doing stuff with your hands and observing it. If I could have told teachers in classes I struggled in that I cannot learn via lecture and worksheets alone and they actually accommodated for that I think school would have been so different for me. Not to mention how it affected my work life. If people could tell someone “hey, I learn better by doing it as you teach.” Or “I learn if you physically show me and I do it right after as you watch.” It would make a big difference. Instead so many workers just watch training videos or reading job aid packets and are expected to know pretty advanced stuff depending on the job. I feel like life in general would be better if learning styles was acknowledged in every aspect of life and taught to everyone early on, not just teachers in teaching college who learn about it and then never fucking use it in practice because it’s too much work. (Not hating on teachers here, really, it is so much work and teachers are chronically overworked and underpaid. Schools dgaf if students retain information outside of school, they only care about test scores, so teachers “teach to the test” as they call it and pray students know it well enough to score well so they don’t lose their fucking job.) I think if schools weren’t so heavily test-focused, ESPECIALLY standardized testing, things would just be better as a whole.
But things won’t change. Not even really sure why I complain at this point.

Theories of The Philosophy of Logic
The philosophy of logic is a branch of philosophy that focuses on the nature, scope, and limits of logic. It aims to clarify the principles and concepts underlying logical reasoning, to investigate the nature of logical truth, and explore the relationship between logic and other areas of philosophy, such as epistemology, metaphysics, and the philosophy of language.
Some of the key topics in the philosophy of logic include:
The nature of logical truth: This includes questions such as whether logical truths are analytic or synthetic, necessary or contingent, and whether they are objective or subjective.
The nature of logical inference: This includes questions such as what makes an argument valid or invalid, what is the relationship between logical inference and deductive reasoning, and how do we distinguish good from bad reasoning.
The relationship between logic and language: This includes questions such as how language is related to logic, whether there are universal rules of grammar that underlie all natural languages, and how meaning is determined in language.
The foundations of logic: This includes questions such as what are the basic concepts and principles of logic, what is the relationship between logic and mathematics, and what is the nature of logical paradoxes and how can they be resolved.
Non-classical logics: This includes questions such as what are the alternative logics to classical logic, why might we need them, and how do they differ from classical logic.
The philosophy of logic has many practical applications, such as in computer science, artificial intelligence, and mathematics.
There are several theories in the philosophy of logic, some of which include:
Classical logic: This theory assumes that there is a fixed set of logical laws and principles that apply to all domains of discourse, and that these principles are objectively true.
Intuitionistic logic: This theory rejects the law of excluded middle, which states that every proposition is either true or false, and instead proposes that there are some propositions that cannot be classified as either true or false.
Modal logic: This theory allows for the representation of modalities such as necessity and possibility in logical statements.
Relevance logic: This theory emphasizes the importance of relevance in determining the truth value of a logical statement, rather than focusing solely on formal validity.
Non-monotonic logic: This theory allows for the revision of logical principles in the face of new evidence or information, and acknowledges that our logical systems may be subject to change over time.
Paraconsistent logic: This theory allows for the existence of contradictions within a logical system, and attempts to develop ways of dealing with them without rejecting the entire system.
Free logic: This theory allows for the existence of empty singular terms. In classical logic, all singular terms must refer to existing objects. However, free logic allows for singular terms that do not refer to any existing object.
Fuzzy logic: This theory allows for degrees of truth or falsity, rather than strict binary values. It can be used to reason about concepts that do not have clear-cut boundaries, such as "tall" or "rich."
These are just a few examples of the many theories and approaches within the philosophy of logic.

hi pia! you recommended a while ago to an anon to try finding an international therapist for telehealth appointments but uh.... how does one go about doing that lol. please share any advice or websites or what have you?
Tbh this is such a huge subject, because like, there are very generalised websites for online therapy (like Betterhelp etc.) but I don't know what mental illness/es you have, what modalities you need or respond to, and for the best possible help you're going to need to research based on the illness/es you know (or think) you have and what methods might help you the most, and then go from there.
There are very sort of generic sites if you just want to talk to someone in general, and you can literally just search 'online therapy' for that. But if you actually want to find a specific therapist that's better suited to your needs, you will actually need to cater your searches to your specific issues. My friend who is doing telehealth with someone in Romania (and my friend is in Australia) didn't do a generic search, they looked for someone specifically suited to their combination of issues, who offered help and assistance in specific ways that suited them (i.e. fandom familiar - so that didn't need to be explained, queer, and so on).
Sometimes it comes about through word of mouth, such as asking on Discord/s or via circles of online friends if they know of any good therapists for specific things offering telehealth. But a lot of the time it's information gathering on your own circumstances first (i.e. what do you need / want in a therapist?) and then going from there.
If you have absolutely no idea what you need/want from a therapist, have no idea what your issues are, or what would help you. You could start off with a more general service first, like BetterHelp or TalkSpace, but most of the therapists through there don't get paid very well, so you don't always get very good service (but hey, sometimes you do, and it might be enough for what you need!)
Also, if I Google websites for online therapy, 90% of those results are Australia specific. I don't know what country you're in. But I do know how oversaturated and expensive Australian therapists are right now, so I'd be wary of recommending those sites to you, lol. Unfortunately there's some things where you either need to go to more general sites which can be quite easily found by searching things like 'online therapy' on Google, or you'll need to dive down and spend some time thinking about your diagnoses, what sort of assistance you want or hope for, and start to look from there.
As someone who has had to go through the process to find two local mental healthcare specialists recently, it still took hours of research online to find them (especially the psychiatrist - which also took several months, with a few hours put aside each time, because I was knocked back quite a bit due to the complexity of my case).
But your mental health deserves hours of your time and care, so it's worth putting that in and starting to get a collection of sites and information that might be useful.
Once you know your mental illness/es and the modalities you like or don't like (for example: knowing you love dialectical behaviour therapy, but hate EMDR), you can then search for lists of therapists in different countries. Almost every country does have centralised lists or databases of psychotherapists, psychologists, mental health social workers and more. Some even have databases based on specific modalities (like for example, there are databases in Australia of people accredited to offer trauma yoga, or intuitive eating support, or expressive therapies).
But as you can probably tell from my answer, it's can be complex! But if you want something simple - you can always go to the more general spaces until you find something that suits you better.

That moment when you know two languages pretty fluently since age 12 and try picking up a third at the age of 19, because “how hard can it be? I know two completely different ones, a third can’t be that hard I already learned one with just elementary knowledge, right?” except you haven’t learned any language basics for the past 7 years and forgot how to so every class period for the third is extremely stressful since you don’t want to fuck up a sentence and say an insult instead of a compliment and they don’t teach you words anymore and you’re expected to know them for sentence creation-
