As it goes with every new brainrot I have, it’s time for Kirby crossover again :)

Kirby in one piece! With one piece’s strong focus on dreams and found family, I thought it would fit for Kirby to be a pirate that dreams of sailing to the stars and beyond. Not that this is very achievable by normal means, but we know that it’s at least possible with Eneru and the Skypiea arc :D

Kirby has the devil fruit power of the copy-copy fruit! A paramecia activated by contact and only able to copy one fruit at a time. It can copy logias and paramecias with no problems, though actual ability using the fruit’s powers is up to Kirby to practice and figure out. Zoans can only be copied to partial transformations and cannot be awakened. Kirby doesn’t have much of a mind for haki but has a lot of latent conquerer’s haki that he doesn’t realize— it’s one of the reasons he’s able to make friends so effortlessly.

Meta Knight in this AU is a retired marine, between Captain and Rear Admiral level. He has a bat model zoan fruit that allows him to grow wings, and is a skilled swordsman. He’s retired from the marines but acts a his own separate party that is neither revolutionary, marine, nor pirate, keeping his own fleet known as the Meta-Knights. Their actions are similar to pirates despite not flying a Jolly Roger. They claim territory to protect and occasionally fight other pirate crews, and they claim no allegiance to the world government. They simply go where they are needed. Meta Knight will sometimes sail with Kirby on his small ship, the Popstar, just to keep Kirby out of trouble and make sure the ship is well stocked and well-maintained and able to be seaworthy.

Dedede is the king to one of the small countries that isn’t represented at the Reverie. That means he has a lot more freedom to do his own thing, including setting sail while taking a crew of Dees with him and leaving the country in the hands of some administrative Dees. Dedede splits his time between exploring and sailing and returning home to run his country, with the help of his trusty second in command, Bandanna Dee. Dedede has a penguin model Zoan fruit, and Bandanna doesn’t have any devil fruit but is proficient in coating their spear in haki. They’re the designated save-the-fruit-user-from-drowning person when they’re on deck.

Kirby’s crew changes because a lot of the people he recruits tend to have their own responsibilities. His crew is also full of people he’s beaten. It’s not uncommon for Kirby to sail alone, though he gets into more scrapes than usual with bad weather and rough waves. It can hardly be called a pirate crew, but Kirby has collected all the most heinous criminals under his banner and as such, the world government treats it as a threat.

Kung Fu Koopa (Kung Fu Panda Parody Casting)

Bowser might just be the laziest, clumsiest Koopa in the Valley of Peace, but he secretly dreams of becoming a kung fu legend. When the villainous stand user Cioccolata threatens Bowser’s homeland, the hapless turtle is chosen to fulfil an ancient prophecy and defend the Valley from attack. Training under Master Hendrickson, Bowser embarks on an epic high-kicking adventure as he sets out to thwart Cioccolata’s evil plans.

Death with a Puppy (with apologies to Paul Kidby)

This is probably one of the most involved pieces I've ever done to date - Lore Olympus/Discworld Fanart (did anyone expect that crossover?)

I'm a big fan of the great Sir Terry Pratchett, but I never would have found him without the amazing work of Paul Kidby - the illustrator of the Discworld book covers, as well as some other Pratchett works. I never would have picked up the books without his covers.

I got the idea of using one of Kirby's most recognisable pieces "Death with a Kitten" as a cultural and artistic reference when Pomelia was introduced in Lore Olympus, but I've always been too intimidated to try a realistic line-less style. After a quick bash in the L.O style, I knew the reference wouldn't be obvious unless I gave it a proper go, so after some stopping and starting, abandoning the project then remembering I needed to finish it, here it is! A full HD phone and desktop background is available on my Patreon page for supporters

Welcome, One and All!

Welcome to the Kirby Rarepair Tournament! Where uncommon fandom pairings duke it out to see who is the best, who is the most unheard of, and who makes the fandom come out the other end baffled anyone could ever ship that!

The Tournament will run once enough votes are collected. The current maximum submission time is 7 days from now, so September 28th for me.

For now, here are the rules for the Tournament:

What is a rarepair? Fanlore defines it as "A term for a pairing or ship that is rare in a fandom". I take this to mean a ship with very little recognition within a fandom, proportional to other ships. Only rarepairs can be submitted, obviously!

Generally, the proportional rule I'm using for Kirby ships is based on AO3 statistics. Based on Kirby (Video Game)'s current 2,872 ships, crossovers included, the most popular relationship is Metadede, at only 221 fics, followed by Marxolor at 79. This is 7.7% and 2.8% respectively of all Kirby fics on the website, so rarepair numbers have to be very low! The best number I'm thinking is 30 fics or less to be considered a rarepair by this poll's standards. A full list of ships banned on this rule will be below. Similarly, if a ship is submitted too many times, it isn't exactly rare, is it? So if more than... Five? Submissions are received, they'll be placed aside for other submissions.

However, this can be biased based on multiple fics being wrote by one person, or the pairing having more art pieces and followers on Tumblr. This poll manager recognises that, and thus in situations when a pairing seems to be on the cusp of rareness, I will run some preliminary polls, asking the wider community their opinions. Vox populi etc etc, this is a Tumblr poll not an official survey. If you want to contest something, go and drop me an ask!

All submissions will have propaganda attached, as the submission requires this. If some is somehow not submitted, I will try my best to provide.

This is not a place for harrassment. Please no anger or vitriol for the ships supplied in the tournament, not at me nor at the submitters if they come forth. I don't have the energy to deal with that, and my opinions on these ships are irrelevant in the matter. This is meant to be a fun thing! If you hate it that much, just vote in the polls against them to show your distaste.

To keep things simple, this tournament is specifically more for romantic pairings, or similar relationships. Think queerplatonic pairings, for instance. The only hard stop is familial relationships, just for simplicity's sake when facing off with romantic ones. Not sure I'd have to say it, but I like to cover my bases.

Alright screw it, full list of Kirby crossover Overwatch skin ideas:

Kirby Echo. Hard to explain how it looks with words but it works in my head.

King Dedede Reinhardt. In my heart this one is the Mythic skin of this bunch with variants for unmasked, the classic Masked Dedede mask, and the Forgo Dedede mask.

Meta Knight Genji. Not much explaining needed I think.

Bandana Waddle Dee Tracer. I didn't have any better ideas for either end of this pairing, but like. again it works in my head.

Whispy Woods Bastion. I swapped my ideas for Orisa and Bastion back and forth, but figured Ganymede dressed as the small Kirby bird of your choice would make more sense. Plus, Orisa already has a nature-themed skin.

Paint Roller Lucio. I think this is a fan favorite obscure miniboss, plus it'd be a fun different look for a Lucio skin.

Nightmare Sigma. With every idea for group skins I keep casting Sigma as the ultimate big bad, but like... c'mon it works too well here. The Hyperspheres are the ball form.

Rick Wrecking Ball. hamter.

Dark Matter Swordsman Soldier 76. mouthful, yikes. I actually had a list of notes I decided to check partway through making this post, and I forgot about this one. I think the idea was the visor? Could be cool I think.

Marx Junkrat. funny little guy who chucks exploding balls. Could do a fun detail with his prosthetics looking like pieces of Nova.

Heavy Lobster Orisa. Favorite obscure Kirby boss that never shows up in a series full of recurring bosses. Definitely a skin nobody besides me consciously wants.

Mr. Frosty/Chef Kawasaki Roadhog. Hard to pick between these two iconic midbosses, but I very much only see either design working as like, an edgy slasher villain parody of the original when on Roadhog.

Adeline Brigitte. Flail is the paintbrush. That's all the justification I need to say.

Ripple Queen Mei. Definitely a more obscure character to prioritize but the idea won't leave my brain, I think it'd look too cute to pass up. Also yes: Snowball is Ribbon.

Dark Meta Knight Reaper. ow the edge.

Daroach Cassidy. Hat. Though would also consider Ashe, if only just for the sake of Storro B.O.B.

Drawcia Moira. I mean Moira throws around blobs and sprays of bright colors around, it works. Plus I think this'd be a fun look for her that's not too out of place stylistically.

Necrodeus Doomfist. Felt bad not having a Mass Attack reference of any kind for some reason (even though I don't have an Epic Yarn character here and that's my favorite spinoff). This was the best pairing of "cool bad guy" matching that I had left, but I mean I think it'd look cool.

Magolor Zenyatta. Silly floating man with his orbs and mysterious past.

Landia Pharah. Another niche one but it looks sick in my head. Was also considering giving her Dyna Blade.

Taranza Lifeweaver. Okay explaining this one: sad pretty boy with trauma and a flower motif. Plus they both use grabby magic to yoink people. Works with how average Rein players feel about Life Grip.

Queen Sectonia Symmetra. I wanted to have Sectonia somewhere and by process of elimination this is the idea I like the best. Not explicitly meant for a SymWeaver thing but hey that works too. the inverse height dynamic between the pairings feels wrong though...

Susie D.va. This is another obvious one, little pink bitches with big mechs, little pew pews, trauma, and room for me to project onto.

Haltmann Torbjorn. Another one from my notes I completely forgot about. But like. Yeah no it still checks out.

Francisca Junker Queen. A guilty pleasure choice aside from the shared blue hair and axes.

Flamberge Illari. Listen the brain blast I had when I realized "burny powers and also her gun looks like a weird sword." Plus they both scream an above average amount.

Zan Partizanne Widowmaker. It'd be a crime if she wasn't one of the most canonically french Kirby characters.

Hyness/Void Termina Ramattra. I don't know the exact logistics of how this works but in the abstract concept in my head this looks awesome.

Gorimondo Winston. monke.

Yeah that's the list! Everybody besides Mercy, Hanzo, Zarya, Ana, Sombra, Ashe, Baptiste, Sojourn, and Kiriko got one. Also no Mauga... or Venture... or Space Ranger... look this list was from a while ago, plus none of these are even out yet so sue me. (actually had a few ideas for Mercy, but none of them felt really satisfying. Favorite idea for her was using Forgotten Land's final boss mostly because of the silhouette being... more similar than you'd think at first.) Also I got at least part of each of the dream friends besides Gooey, but like. Literally what Overwatch character reminds anyone in any way of Gooey. Be honest with me here.

what does metaknight look like in your one piece/kirby crossover?

Probably something like this! He’s a retired marine so he’d be used to the heavy white jacket, but after leaving, would probably change it out for something dark blue, resembling more his cape.

Earlier iterations I drew of him were just of him in a normal suit like most high ranking side character marines seem to wear? But I think he’d also be a bit fancier than that— he’d probably be mistaken for a noble once or twice, or people might assume he’s of noble upbringing. (He probably isn’t, he just adopted the formality and stuff mannerisms of one in public for the sake of intimidation and respect.)

Submariner Summer 16

Ok all, lets go! It's part 16 of #SubmarinerSummer with Tales to Astonish #83: The Sub-Mariner STRIKES! Hulk has cover-duty, but the Title page has Namor coming right for us as he launches himself at Krang's ship. We have Kirby himself on art this ish, so lets enjoy that treat

Right away we're hit with a text wall as they catch us up to the story and narrate the action Silve Age-style, but the action isn't long arriving as Krang's first shot misses, but our Prince of Atlantis does NOT

Namor manages to be magnanimous and offers Krang the chance to surrender, but Krang isn't interested and tries running towards the city in the most hilarious piece of bad judgement ever: "Maybe Namor won't endanger New Yorkers?" AJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Dorma is trying to talk Krang down, but Krang knows Namor won't stop and he has no intention to either. He blasts him with the next weapon on deck and gets Namor dead on, hoping to hit his "weak spot" (spoilers: this weak spot is definately headed for retcon land). In any case it doesn't work

Namor crashes onto Krang's ship, but at this point we get an interesting plot twist/crossover, sort of. Over in the Hulk stories, the Secret Empire has been clashing with the Green Goliath. Now, that group's Number One sees Namor, and wants to use him against Hulk!

Meanwhile on Krang's ship, Namor manages to get to a window and Dorma finally realizes his rage when she sees his face, and he hers. Just as he crashes through, though, Krang manages to use another of his many weapons to knock him back into the water

The Secret Empire's Number One approaches, planning to wipe Namor's memory to make him a pawn. Meanwhile Krang launches his last resort: the "fleet destroyer", a fission bomb. That's right, he tries to nuke Namor! Namor however manages to destroy it before it can fully activate

Krang takes the opportunity to flee, again. Classic villain move. And as it turns out, Number One doesn't *need* his lobotomizer ray: the blast of even the weakened fleet destroyer nuke rendered Namor amnesiac on its own! Uh-oh... Cliffhanger!

Another great action issue with raucous Kirby art, and another clever crossover plot thread woven into the narrative; Marvel tight continuity expertly used. Gotta wonder if they're intentionally making amnesia a Namor thing.

We'll have to see what Number One has in store for our Prince of Atlantis in the NEXT issue, though, in Tales to Astonish #84: Like A Beast At Bay!

i found a folder on my computer called taz and it had the most unhinged crossovers in it and nothing else. reading the file name “kirbysadventurezone.png” just instantly slayed me. apparently this was all from around 2017, and i posted only ONE piece of art from that fever dream of a night here at the time, and it was misao and kaoru as carey and killian??? I honestly do not know what is supposed to be happening in the kirby one. i guess waddle dee is merle?? I guess dedede is magnus???? I don’t know what is happening with meta knight?????

Madagascar (Sundove88’s Version) Casting

Jotaro Kujo the Stand User is the king of the urban jungle, the main attraction at New York's Central Park Zoo. He and his best friends -- Hisoka the Hunter, Adventurer Cookie the Explorer and BlackBerry Cookie the Maid -- have spent their whole lives in blissful captivity before an admiring public and with regular meals provided for them. Not content to leave well enough alone, Hisoka lets his curiosity get the better of him and makes his escape -- with the help of some prodigious spirits -- to explore the world.

Jotaro, Hisoka, and other cartoon creatures find a way to escape from Madagascar when the spirits reassemble a wrecked airplane. The precariously repaired craft stays airborne just long enough to make it to the African continent.

Cartoon pals Jotaro, Hisoka, Adventurer Cookie and Blackberry Cookie are still trying to make it back to New York's Central Park Zoo. They are forced to take a detour to Europe to find the spirits and plumbers who broke the bank at a Monte Carlo casino. When Alolan animal-control officer Lusamine picks up their scent, Jotaro and company are forced to hide out in a traveling circus.
