Sometimes I think it’s easier to say what yoga is not more than I think it’s possible to truly explain what yoga really is. Yoga is not just a physical practice. Yoga is a mirror that guides you to the truth self. Yoga asana is not an exercise or a stretch. Fitness and stretching are the byproducts of the practice. Yoga is not entertainment, distraction or denial even though yoga can be fun and joyful. Yoga is a spiritual discipline that seeks your highest liberation. What is yoga to you? What isn’t yoga to you? In this age of everything goes, some people are afraid of setting some guidelines about what is and isn’t yoga. Giving everyone permission to do everything and call it whatever they want may not truly serve their spiritual path. Sometimes what we need is a clear light to shine on the path so we can discriminate between what is true and what is untrue. But then again, I am an Ashtanga Yoga practitioner and I can’t help it if I believe at least a few guidelines are good for the practitioners and teachers to follow. Hey love thank you so much for the clarification! I am actually a sag stellium who loves freedom, beauty and love and birds are like I mostly whole day keep staring at the clouds and the sky and look out for the birds that keep flying. I love them and I myself have a lot of various kinds of birds coming to my window who lay eggs and chatter and I also do have a lot of plants but the fact is since months I am busy in my entrance exams and even tomorrow I have one entrance exam for engineering and research and due to all this I dont get time to go out have fun or just sit and relax. Like I gave 4 entrance exams and 4 tests since last 2 weeks and I am really just tired and all my entrance exams will end in september. You explaining me the message with so detailing really means a lot. And you know why trees must have been specific cause I was really thinking about them like I was just remembering a video on Youtube where a spiritual looking person said that wearing clothes that show our body is not good and as a punishment for this they become a tree in their next lifetime. Now after becoming a tree they will be without clothes as they had wished and lived in their previous lives. Like this was one of the most annoying and funny thing to me to which I was like I would love to be a tree as its the most generous besides a God. Anyways, Thank you so so much for the reading and the clarification. Also can I ask something like how to do meditation to connect with spirit guides like I used to do meditation almost everyday months before my exams started that too with crystals. But I actually like even listened to guided meditations and I used to feel hand touches on my body especially stomach. And I really seem to meditate less and sleep while meditating more. Like concentrating on something makes me sleep in 10 minutes. So can you tell me an effective way of meditation to connect to spirit guides. Thank you. Have a nice day/night!!

The best way to meditate if you don't know how is to use guided meditations. I really love KinoYoga on Youtube. She explains things wonderfully and is just like a beam of light. I'm sure you're exhausted and that's why you're falling asleep! Sitting up straight with your back against the wall or another surface can help a bit. Count your breaths backward from ten and then ground yourself by picturing roots coming from your body and growing into the Earth. You can also create an energy shield after doing this. Once you feel settled and safe, picture yourself in a beautiful place. It could be anywhere: forest, ocean, space. Anywhere you feel is really and truly lovely and SAFE. While you're there look around and see if anyone else is there. You can call out and ask if anyone wants to greet you/has messages for you. You may not see anything, but you may have a flash of intuition or a sense that there is another presence. The more you do this practice, the more you will sense from your guides.

As a dancer who was also a teenage practitioner of yoga (as well as having been a teenage yoga teacher myself) I’m always aware that everyone is both a teacher and student at various times of day, various times of the year and various times in our lives. Kino recently came into my consciousness at a time when extra stress from current events & scheduling my own work - was becoming a REALLY big problem.
Kino reminded me of my more peaceful self.
The self I bring to my art , the self I share with others - in compassion- but which I forget too often, to bring to my … self.
Self compassion and self care … are too often dismissed … and it’s an amazing moment when we can accept, that this type of gentle kindness, toward self, is equal to the kindnesses we bestow outside ourselves…thank you Kino. Thank you universe.

When I first saw this Yoga Dandasana pose on @kinoyoga Youtube channel (yes I used to watch her comprehensive asana's library like all day to learn yoga when I was new to this haha), I was immediately fell in love with the pose, thinking that I should definitely integrate the pose into my practice. The pose just looks so nice, and interesting yet somehow so relaxing. When I practice this pose, I just feel calm in my mind and stay comfortable with myself. I feel very fortunate to have once more the chance to contribute with some images to Kino’s latest writings. This book is very special. A few lucky students joined us for the photoshoots; all from different back grounds, different ages, different body types and at different stages of their practice. All those students were so amazing to work with. Kino’s Mom was one of them! she was practicing along everyone else ... how cool is that?! It was so fun and so inspiring. In my opinion this book represents Kino’s teachings particularly well. Loaded with all all her knowledge from this traditional Indian practice of Ashtanga Yoga, in this book she brings it, within reach to any one who is willing to learn or willing to make the effort to try. It’s quite powerful to see how yoga can brings such different people together ... regardless were you come from, how toll, how old, or how experienced you may be. So yes I feel blessed to work on such project. Filming and taking pictures of yoga is what I love to do the most; more then a job it’s a Calling. To combine my 2 passions of photography with the practice of yoga, makes every images I shot even more meaningful. I know Kino put a lot of love in the making of this book. Writing a book is quite a procès let me tell you. It was very interesting to fallow by her side each steps of it’s making, to observe how each difficulties was over come. Yes I hope you will get your copy very soon and I also hope that you will have at least as much fun reading it, as we all did being a part of it.
