Meine neueste Kurzgeschichte INBETWEEN ist seit heute als eBook erhältlich. Überall dort, wo ihr euren Lesestoff bezieht - oder direkt beim Alea Libris Verlag. Es wird mal wieder düster, es wird queer - und vor allem fantastisch. Deswegen gibt's auch Inhaltsnotizen. 😅

Die Wölfin Nyx wünscht sich nichts sehnlicher, als einmal unter den Menschen wandeln zu können. Als sie einen Dämon vor Jägern aus einem nahe gelegenen Dorf rettet, scheint dieser Wunsch in Erfüllung zu gehen. Doch da ist auch noch die Menschenfrau Rina, mit der Nyx eine unerklärliche Anziehung verbindet – die sie beide in Gefahr bringt. Unless somebody's asked this before, what's would the swk's (minus 2023/netflix) react to Lin?

They probably think she's a really cool kid! Netflix/Cherry brings Lin around to a Wukongverse meeting (somehow), and the others SWK's are like "Oh thank Buddha, it's his one braincell besides the Stick."

Lin is rather confused, but figures that she should be used to it by now. Her monkey has dragged her along to different Realms before, whats a different dimrnsion compared to Hell?

She ends up hanging out with the other kids like MK, Mei, and HiB!Liuer, with the younger SWKs and LEMs chilling with her too.

Revelations occur when the other monkeys have questions...

Peach: "How do you know Lin exactly? Is she your tudi, or are you guys just good friends?" Cherry: "We're friends but its... complicated." Other SWKs: *sounds of interest/encouragement* Cherry: "So like... she's the first person to show me geniune empathy and kindness, buuuut she also sentenced me under the mountain. Soooo bummer." *cricket noises* Smokey: "What." Cherry: "Yeah it was kinda weird. I think I was power-drunk or something cus all I remember is that she became the voice of Buddha and did the Leap from my Palm trick. Then cue the mountain. She said bye though, so that was cool." *more shocked silence* Dasheng: "...thats not normal." Starfruit: "YEAH. Mortals don't just do that." Peach: "Wait... is Lin your monk?" Cherry: "No, I have a Tripitaka. He showed up like 500 years later." All the SWK who understand reincarnation: *deep inhales* Ace: "Your friend is a Golden Cicada. " Cherry: "A what now?" Smokey: "Seriously!? Don't you know any Buddhist lore?!" Cherry: "No. I was never taught it." Sugar: "Didn't your Master Subodhi ever teach you inbetween lessons on the Dao?" Cherry: "...my who teaching me what now?"

This is how the rest of the monkeys indirectly find out that Netflix!SWK/Cherry; 1: Was never trained for his power, 2: Has no idea about the chinese pantheon, and 3: Was never in the furnance?? Like??? Those are big details in a lot of their stories!

The SWKs who went through these trials feel really frustrated that Cherry hasn't felt the same pain they have, but also recognise his tale as being an equally tragic story of hubris/innocent ambition. Also this monkey had zero friends - no stalwarts, no brotherhood, no LEM likely, so he had no support system/something to fight for beyond himself.

Lin, meanwhile is hanging out with the LMK gang (canon and/or au) like;

MK, telling his origin story: "...So I lifted the Staff and boom! I have the Monkey King's powers!" *poses dramatically on table with his staff* Lin, clapping: "Thats pretty cool! Does your staff talk like Stick does, or it that an oddity just of my world?" Tang: "Your world, sadly. Imagine the tales those Staffs could tell..." Pigsy: "You have the monkeys, Tang." Tang: "The monkeys like to exaggerate and bend details." Lin: "Stick is not really that much better..." MK: *staff falls out of hand onto floor* "Dang it." Lin: "Don't worry! I'll get it!" MK: "Uh yeah, thats not possible-" Lin: *lifts the staff with some effort* The LMK Crew: (ʘᗩʘ’) Hib!Liuer: (◕▿◕) Lin: "...what?"

Lin has her own freak-out moment when the gang tell her that the Ruyi Jingu Bang/Staff is supposed to be over 17,550 lbs/7,960 kg(!!). Aka "girl how are you lifting a whole ass flat-bed truck with your hands"-heavy.

Cus I need to remind yall that Lin *can lift the Staff*, so either Stick deliberately makes itself lighter so she can move it, OR Lin has a major divine Strength buff.

Tang declares Lin his 2nd favorite Monk (first place taken by Liuer). Lin starts freaking out cus Netflix!Tripitaka basically tells her that she's dead in his time/one of his previous lifes as well.

We're back in the lab. But this time, we have breathing room to look around.

Not sure how much there is to notice that we didn't before, but let's begin with Huesca's corpse.

Fink wanted to be thorough. He took Huesca from behind and stabbed him, then yanked the knife out and stabbed him again, then again for good measure.

This feels more emotional than professional. Fink's a legendary hitman. I'd expect a cleaner kill than this from a pro. He had total control, right? Huesca was trapped in a room with him, seemed to have no means by which to fight back, and was begging us on the monitor to come save him.

So. Like. Fink had complete autonomy to conduct this kill however he liked. Full control of the situation. He could, I don't know, slit Huesca's throat and walk away. He went for gratuitous repeated stabbings, drawing it out and making it hurt.

That tells me that either the client specified that they wanted Huesca to suffer or this was personal for Fink.

Wish we could turn him over and see what the front of the body looks like.

It also has an F engraved on it. Fink carries his own custom signature knives and I guess he leaves them at the scene every time he takes a life. He left one with Yakou too.

Oh, by all means. Please turn him over. I want to see if there are even more stab wounds on his front. That's a ton of blood pooling under his chest, after all, so it's possible Fink stabbed him even more times than what we can see here.

CHOKE ON YOUR TONGUE. I hope Yomi has you crushed into a cube. Fuckers obstructing my investigation.

Ladies, gentlemen, and everything inbetween: I present to you Kanai Ward's finest boys in blue.

Not much new evidence to be found at the doc's corpse. Which is unsurprising. Until we can see the front, the facts on display were plain at a glance.

Oh, look at that. Fink left a bootprint on Ama-Pal's head when he knocked it over. Gonna go out on a limb and say he probably jumped on its head.

Ama-Pal's built pretty sturdy. The ads over-hype it and say that it can withstand being stepped on by an elephant (!!!) but that's a marketing lie. Its load capacity is 100 kg of force. That's 220 lbs if you're using dirty American conversion units, or 338.5 Furbies.

Knocking Ama-Pal over implies that Fink managed to hit Ama-Pal with 338.5 Furbies of force. It's also interesting for another reason.

An elephant weighs upwards of 9,000 to 20,000 Furbies. If I'd just seen the ads saying "Ama-Pal can handle being stepped on by an elephant, NO PROBLEM!" I would not be confident in my ability to punt the thing. The only people who knew Ama-Pal could be knocked over like this are Amaterasu insiders.

Then again, given the placement of that bootprint, we don't know that Fink knew that. It's possible that he was trying to Mario Hop across Ama-Pal and into the Panel Room to conduct his disappearance. That he wound up knocking Ama-Pal over may have been a mistake.

Yet another vent, this time along the ceiling. But these vents, like the ones in the panel room, are inaccessible. Fink did not enter (loudly, boomingly) through the ducts.

That's what everyone else has been telling us too. Lot of people would want to stab him many, many times to draw it out and make it hurt.

Wait, the big project he was so mad about, which may or may not be related to homunculus research, was three years ago? That coincides with Makoto's arrival to Amaterasu and Kanai Ward, when Makoto wowed everyone with his big project and got fast-tracked to CEO in spite of Yomi being groomed for the position.

Also coincides with the arrival of the Forever Rain, which I suspect was Makoto's project. Makoto said there's rumors that Huesca was conspiring against him. Can't imagine why the old bastard might have held a grudge.

Oh shit, that's why he threw a fuss at Makoto about, "I'M NOT GONNA TALK TO SOME SHITSTAIN IN A MASK!" He can't interpret what you're saying if your mouth is concealed.

That seems super obvious in hindsight. I can't believer I missed that. I wrote it off as him just being an asshole, 'cause of how much of an asshole he is. That was terribly ableist of me.

This also has implications about when he suddenly reacted to his killer's presence. Fink could have been making all kinds of noise in this room and Huesca wouldn't have noticed. His attention was on us. He wouldn't realize there was someone in the room with him until Fink entered his peripheral vision.

Makes me wonder how the intercom buzzer works, though. Huesca can't stand the buzzer. Makoto demonstrated that after he hung up. By jamming the intercom buzzer over and over and over again, he was able to force Huesca to come back to the call.

I wonder what that looks like from this end. Does it have a flashing light or something attached to it?

That's not what Makoto thought he was planning. So Peacekeeper rumors say he wanted to run while Makoto thinks he was conspiring against him. Sounds like he was up to something but nobody's too sure of what.

After Bestie tried to honey-trap him with hilarious results, he said he wanted to step out for a supply run. He trusted us to keep him safe, but not Yomi's Peacekeepers. If he was conspiring to flee Kanai Ward, it makes sense why he wouldn't feel comfortable around those thugs.

Not sure how that's going to be relevant to our case, but we'll keep it in mind. The most unassuming of clues are often the most important.

Including a sketch of what appears to be sulfuric acid being chucked all over some poor schmuck. Well, we know the doc was bloodthirsty from how eager he was to see his trap chambers kill someone.

That was his big plan for escape. He was going to stroll out the door while carrying a big jug of sulfuric acid. Anyone who tried to stop him would get an acid to the face surprise!

When you're too much of a bastard for pocket sand, there is always pocket acid.

So, in theory, he did have a means of self-defense in here. It's unconventional but it would be possible. Of course, trying to uncork a bottle of sulfuric acid, presently in a fridge, while an assassin's stabbing you to death would be supremely difficult.

Man, it would suck if the Forever Rain turned into sulfuric acid. Don't know what made me think of that just now, but wow. Can you imagine how awful that would be?

For real, though, who did he want to acid-ball? Makoto? Slap him in the face with some pocket acid on the way out the door? Hm. This feels super important but I don't know what to do with it.

Curses! A screensaver! MY ONLY WEAKNESS!

For real, though. As someone who works in the financial industry? This is why banks make a huge fucking deal about manually locking your workstation whenever you leave it. One of my unofficial responsibilities when I used to work for a major financial lender was to use a handy-dandy desktop keyboard-shortcut I knew to flip people's screens upside-down if they didn't lock their workstation. Then they'd have to come to me and my boss to get it flipped back, and get grilled on why they didn't lock their workstation.

It's because of this. Exactly this. To keep confidential data secure from passing-by optic grazing. You don't even need to suspiciously sit down at someone's workstation if they left their screen up with confidential data on it.

There are hiding spots, but they're places that would only conceal you from certain angles. That said, Doc was deaf so there's some leeway on offer there.

But honestly, there isn't much reason to hide. It's an enclosed chamber. Just you, your victim, and the knife in your hand. No reason Fink wouldn't come right out and start stabbing as soon as he entered the room.

Why put off until twenty minutes from now what you can stab right now? Not like giving it some time will change the circumstances any, right?

...well, I was hoping those two chuckleheads would move the body by the time I finished the investigation but it looks like that's not happening. Really want to know if there are more stab wounds. I suppose it doesn't matter if there are; It would only corroborate what I already suspect. But I want that corroboration!

Next time I see Yomi, I'm filing a formal complaint.

How do you think confessed their feelings first out of Kiibo and Shuichi, and how do you think the confession went?

HI ANON I AM SO SORRY FOR TAKING SO LONG GETTING TO THIS ITS BEEN LIKE A MONTH OR LONGER IM SO SORRYYY AUGH at first I was planning to make one of my usual comics to answer this bc I Honestly Need To Make One for this concept BUT MOTIVATION WORKS AGAINST ME. I HOPE TO FINISH IT SOMEDAY. ITS STILL SOMETHING I NEEDDD TO DO.

BUT TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION! I have many many confession ideas in my head, self indulgent ones, hypothetical ones, accidental ones, etc. etc. BUT for my most canon compliant, most realistic, most canon TO ME confession scenerio, shuichi is the one to confess! And it’s postgame as well! obviously after kiibo is rebuilt, probably a few months to a year after he’s rebuilt? (realistically). I feel like shuichi most certainly fell for kiibo first, and definitely caught some sort of feelings ingame, especially in some of the later chapters and ftes. but realistically? in a situation like that? especially after kaede and kaito? I don’t think he’d ever want to confess not knowing if either of them would ever make it out. And kiibo on the other hand has a very loose grasp on love ingame and knowing how he kind of looked down on shuichi as inferior for their first few interactions, I think it’s very likely it took him A Bit longer to properly appreciate shuichi as a person and start gaining feeling for him himself (I do think it happens later ingame for him too, but he’s just a lot less aware that those feelings are love as opposed to just strong liking or trust in shuichi after properly interacting with eachother)

but for the scenerio itself, I headcanon all the survivors living together in an apartment postgame! himiko and maki sharing a room and kiibo and shuichi sharing a room, to save space and pay less. Himiko and Maki got jobs almost immediately after they escaped the kg to pay for their home properly while shuichi stayed home figuring out how to rebuild kiibo (though ofc himiko and maki helped when they could!!) So! in that inbetween time before shuichi got a job as well and after kiibo was rebuilt, they spent A LOT of their free time together. They learned things about eachother they never got the chance to ingame. Saw sides of eachother they never got to see before. Without a killing game looming over their head (despite the trauma still very much effecting them) they both were really able to get so much closer. Spend so much more time doing mundane everyday life things, walking, running errands, cooking, cleaning, just. Living. This is when it really settled in for shuichi. this wasn’t just some sudden crush and attachment he had in a killing game, he loves kiibo. he loves seeing kiibo smile. he loves hearing kiibos voice. he loves walking alongside him as they stroll through the neighborhood. he loves kiibo. and this sort of settled in for kiibo too, though he’s still new to the emotion, he’s realizing his attatchment and want to be around and spend time with shuichi is more than just the feeling of friendship. but he just can’t figure it out. why does he feel horrible when shuichi is away. why do his fans go off whenever shuichi smiles…. he must be malfunctioning.

until one night, shuichi laid in his bed, having made the excuse he was going to bed early, leaving the others to finish off dinner. yet he laid there wide awake, his mind racing, going back and fourth on whether he should ever even bother confronting kiibo on his feelings, when kiibo walked in a few hours later to plug himself in for the night too. “this is it.” “just get it over with.” shuichis mind screamed. shuichi sat up, asking to see if kiibo was still powered on. Kiibo perking up from the desk across shuichis bed and telling him he was, and wasn’t expecting shuichi to still be wide awake himself. shuichi stayed silent for a moment, looking down at his hands, fidgeting them a bit. kiibo asking if he needed anything and if he was okay. shuichi looks up at kiibo and just. says it. “I love you, Kiibo.” Kiibo sat in silence for a moment, processing the four whole words that came out of his friends mouth, buffering like a computer. was this just some sort of elaborate prank? shuichi wouldn’t…. then it hit him. that’s what kiibo was feeling. his dread when shuichi leaves and his want to be around him constantly and cheer him up wasnt just some fucked up malfunction. he loved shuichi. And shuichi loved him too.

my cat (or more accurately my mum’s cat) is on a diet because he is about 2-3 kg heavier than he should be and this is largely because my mum has just been feeding him whenever he so much as meows at her. so now there is a strict feeding schedule and we weigh out how much he’s allowed every day etc and ofc he hates this and begs inbetween meals constantly and literally every time i get up to do anything he shoots off into the kitchen and stands hopefully in front of his bowl ;__;

Back from a long hiatus ( recovery ) but back on my bullshit.

Just weighed in at 57,4 but thats after a day of eating drinking and lots of soup. Been high restricting subconsciously the past couple of days, feeling a bit better already.

I hope tomorrow i'll step on the scale at 56 kgs :)

New goals:

Cw: 57

Gw1: 55

Gw2 52 (this is important because this is my weight before i developed ana at 14 y/o)

Gw3 sub 50kg

Ugw 47 kg

I should be able to hit 55 soon enough, maybe a week or so. am going on a mostly liquid fast for the coming two days (tea, coffee, iced coffee and soup) im allowing honey in my tea and milk in my coffee because life is to be enjoyed.

I really like those inbetween goals - it helps me stay motivated.

I just typed in stuff in losertown and it said i should reach my ugw in may. Also, apparently weight loss is visible in the face after a 2.93 bmi loss, so for me thats around my ugw! I've been 47kgs before (since ana) and cant remember what that looked like, was really at the depths of my sickness but i plan just getting there high restricting/intermittent fasting and some liquid/water fasting but nothing crazy.

Going to bed hungry now, feels good.

Macie’s always been a bit of a challenge for me- she’s gone through a lot of design changes, but in the end she’s more easily compared to my original sketch of her several years ago than any of her inbetween iterations.

Macie is also in general a relatively new addition to this story and the world, while characters like Tae have basically been around since the start. I created her for a different comic entirely, and then liked the general concept enough that I adapted it! For those that are curious, here’s Macie’s original design sketch!

As you can see, the letters in her acronym have since been changed, but the spirit has not!

I think my intention with Macie’s design has been, from the start, to make her look simultaneously adorable and a tad unnerving. And I think the new design is a lot cuter than the old one, which fits her revised character more! My skills with color have also notably improved- the revised design has a much more pleasant color palette than the old one!

Im Oktober erscheint meine Kurzgeschichte Inbetween beim Alea Libris Verlag als eBook. Das besondere bei dieser Ausschreibung: uns wurden jeweils drei Piktogramme/Begriffe vorgegeben, die wir dann in die Geschichte einbauen sollten.

Erscheinen wird's noch vor der Frankfurter Buchmesse, überall dort, wo es eBooks gibt.

Es wird queer, es wird fantastisch - und es wird düster. 🐺🌲😈

Fuckin talked about how my GP shot down and shat on my ideas of getting my multiple docs (mental and gp and endo) to write letters to give to the endos higher ups and hopefully a few surgeons to see if I can have teet yeet surgereet but NoOoOo you're still too over weight and not stable enough!! Like fuckin JANE Not only have I lost about 19 ish kgs and I haven't been admitted to hospital for mental health shit since I think last year and this is the most fucking stable I've been in fucking 7 God damn years and when trying to convey that to James (my therapist) I fuckin went nonverbal and cried. I was like that for most of the session. So even James gets what this means to me. I even said if I do end up having surgery and if there's complications bc of my weight or health or other shit I would 100% die a happy man bc I have a lot to get off my chest. Hhhhhhh this shit makes me wanna not do anything

A write up about 22+years friendship which is meant to descend for ages.

I still remember the first time I saw this Female JAY.., Rewinding It to a long lost day’s of life when both our parents stood for KG admission in a long queue with atleast 5-6 parents inbetween them. That’s when I pulled her out to play and things started.

Posted in same section and you know what she was the tallest girl by then while me the shortest tiny one. Till date we maintain the same height difference🤪

Everything was good, we were together all time but there was a Twist, We had to set apart in our High School because we had our own choice.

But that dint put an end.

In the journey just like every other friends we had

trust, were honest, kind & good listeners, supported eachother in good bad times, had good fun, sharing, quarrels, conflict but still we did catch hold of eachother strong.

At every phase of life We had/have many friends who passed by, still in contact with, but that specially chosen 2-3 friends to whom u can reveal secrets and be who you are totally.

We both believe in “No daily conversation or being together”.

Some people have an easier time in establishing and maintaining a good friend but for some a promising relationship fizzled out.., It happens and totally fine, if not today there is someother day to Find That One.

June 23rd, 2018 marks 8 years since Morgan’s rescue

Morgan is a young, female orca currently residing at Loro Parque, Tenerife, Spain. Her birth year is estimated to be around 2008, based off her length nowadays and back when she was found.

June 23rd, 2010. A young, female orca, estimated to be between 1 and 2 years of age, was found swimming in shallow waters off of the coast of the Netherlands. Orcas aren’t common in that area, so having one in Dutch waters, experts knew something was up immediately. Morgan never stranded, however, she was always free swimming up until the Dolfinarium managed to get her into one of the slings, and onto a boat to escort her to Dolfinarium.

On June 23rd, 2010 Dolfinarium in Harderwijk, the Netherlands, got a Rescue, Rehabilitation and Release permit to capture Morgan and transport her to a rehabilitation/medical tank in Dolfinarium. Upon inspection, Morgan was found to be extremely underweight and mildly dehydrated, showing off a peanuthead (a clear sign of dehydration/malnutrition). Morgan weighed approximately 430 kg and was about 3.5 meters in length.

Up until the 29th of November, 2011, Morgan spent her time in the small backpool that was her rehabilitation pool. Being all alone, Morgan quickly became attached to humans. Orcas are incredibly social animals and dependent on other orcas for their survival. Being all alone and young, with no one else around, Morgan got used to the humans around her and started forming bonds with them.

Initial treatment consisted of saline infusions and broad spectrum antibiotics. Blood analysis revealed an inflammatory reaction, microcytic regenerative anaemia and mild dehydration. Upon admission she was offered a few fish which she took. Clinical inspections during the initial period after her admission including multiple advanced research techniques for viral and bacterial diagnostics of multiple organ systems (respiratory, digestive, and renal) revealed no other gross pathology than dermatitis and severe malnourishment. In the first week after admission, faeces mainly containing algae were found multiple times. (click)

In the next three months, Morgan grew and gained weight, reaching almost 700 kilograms. She started to look more like an orca. With her weight gain, her energy levels increased tremendously. Within several months, Dolfinarium allowed guests to view Morgan up close and personal, for several hours a day. Orcas are rare in the Netherlands. Dolfinarium used to be an inbetween facility for orcas captured in Iceland. They would remain at Dolfinarium for a while, so that US marine parks could get the right permits. Then they would import the orcas. The most famous orca in the Netherlands, besides Morgan, was Gudrun.

Being allowed visitors and having Dolfinarium staff closely interact with her didn’t help her rehabilitation. As a response on that, several organisations banded together like the Orka Coalitie and the Free Morgan Foundation. They wanted to see Morgan returned to Norway, where she is originally from. This pressure from these groups had Dolfinarium contacting people of NAKID, who were and still are at the time, documentaring orcas in the North Atlantic to create valuable ID guides for the populations of orcas living in the North Atlantic.

On the 5th of November, “Identification of Morgan’s discrete stereotyped call repertoire and matching to sounds recorded from wild North Atlantic killer whales“ was published by members of the NAKID research group. The report states:

“We found good ‘likely’ matches to 3 of the 9 stereotyped calls in Morgan’s repertoire with calls recorded from Norwegian pod NP, one possible match was to Norwegian pod NA, and another possible match to an unknown pod of herring-feeding killer whales. Our results strongly indicate that Morgan is from the Norwegian herring-feeding population of killer whales. However, many of Morgan’s calls, including the most commonly produced call type, did not match any calls in our catalog ascribed to pod NP. Pod NP is also reported to produce sounds which were not identified in Morgan’s repertoire. Thus, we cannot conclude that pod NP is Morgan’s natal pod, but we do consider it likely that Morgan is from a group closely related to pod NP. Identification of Morgan’s natal pod using acoustic sharing is made difficult by our limited knowledge of group-specific calling patterns in Norwegian killer whales, and how call repertoires might vary over time.”

Dolfinarium gathered all the information that they could on Morgan, they eventually sent out their report to 7 indepent scientific advisors (C.J. Camphuysen (Royal NIOZ, Netherlands, John K.B. Ford (Cetacean Research Program, Pacific Biological Station, Canada), Christophe Guinet (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, France), Markid Leopold (IMARES, Netherlands), Christina Lockyer (The North Atlantic Marine Mammal Commission, Norway), James McBain (Doctor in veterinarian medicine expert in killer whales USA), Fernando Ugarte (Head of Mammal and Bird Department of the Greenland Institure of Natural Resources)) to decide over Morgan’s possibility for release. All the information was gathered into one summary report with expert opinions in the matter. Knowing still so little of Norwegian orcas, having not found a complete match to one of Norway’s orca pods and knowing that Morgan was severely underweight when she was found, suggesting she was not able to hunt on her own, found the experts agreeing that it was highly unlikely Morgan could be successfully released back into the waters of Norway and survive. Other groups didn’t give up, though. Free Morgan Foundation devised a complete rehabilitation and release plan for Morgan. This release plan can be found here: (click).

From May through November 2011 court cases and lawsuits were filed by organisations claiming Morgan could be successfully released, delaying Morgan’s move to Loro Parque again and again. In the mean time, Morgan resided in the tank that was becoming too small for her. At last, on November 29th, 2011 Morgan was transported to Loro Parque, Tenerife, Spain, where five other orcas resided, owned by Loro Parque.

Morgan was transported under a CITES permit. There is still a lot of discussion about it, especially whether Morgan can perform and breed. I’ve explained her certificate in detail here (click).

In the end, Loro Parque is allowed to breed Morgan and use her in shows. As the photo shows above, certain boxes have been ticked.

Morgan’s CITES permit states: It is hereby certified that the specimens described above: ((x) bold are the ones ticked)

(x)were taken from the wild in accordance with the legislation in force in the issuing Member State;

are abandoned or escaped specimens that were recovered in accordance with the legislation in force in the issuing Member State;

are captive born-and-bred or artificially propagated specimens;

were acquired in or introduced into the Community in compliance with the provisions of Regulation (EC) No 338/97;

were acquired in or introduced into the Community before 1 June 1997 in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 3626/82;

were acquired in or introduced into the Community before 1 January 1984 in compliance with the provisions of CITES;

were acquired in or introduced into the issuing Member State before the provisions of the Regulation under paragraphs 4 and 5 or of CITES became applicable in this territory;

(x)are to be used for the advancement of science/breeding or propagation/research or education or other non-detrimental purposes.

Then, it goes on to state: This document is issued for the purpose of:  ((x) bold are the ones ticked)

confirming that a specimen to be (re-)exported has been acquired in accordance with the legislation in force on the protection of the species in question;

(x)exempting Annex A specimens from the prohibitions relating to commercial acitivities listed in Article 8(1) of Regulation (EC) No 338/97;

(x)authorising the movement within the Community of a live Annex A specimen from location indicated in the import permit or in any certificate.

Accusations and appeals were made by several organisations to get Morgan’s permit undone so they could still release Morgan. In the mean time, Morgan was integrated into the pod of Loro Parque.

Loro Parque’s orca pod wasn’t the most stable pod at the time and was still mostly figuring out its own structure. Add in a new calf from Kohana and Keto and a completely new orca, Morgan, this completely messed up the pod structure. Especially Morgan, Tekoa and Adan were victim of excessive raking.

In December 2012, a report was released by independent experts that Morgan was suffering from a hearing deficit. Now that it was known that Morgan was suffering from hearing loss, either since she was born or recently developed, Loro Parque created a whole new light system to help train Morgan and keep her active and busy. Organisations like Free Morgan Foundation doubted her hearing disibility though, and continued their campaigns, to this day, that Morgan can be released.

Nowadays, the pod structure is stable and Morgan performs regularly in shows to keep her active and engaged. She gets along well with every orca in the pod, but has the closest relationship with Adan and Tekoa. Adan and Morgan have even been found to occassionaly swim in mother-calf positions, indicating their strong bond.

In 2016, SeaWorld announced the ending of their breeding programme. Since five of six orcas at Loro Parque are originally owned by SeaWorld, it is thought that those orcas cannot be bred. However, SeaWorld’s corporate decision has no grounds within European borders, and therefore they cannot enforce their breeding ban upon Loro Parque’s orcas.

There’s still rumours that Morgan is owned by SeaWorld. SeaWorld currently owns 28 orcas, 23 in US parks and 5 (Keto, Tekoa, Kohana, Skyla and Adan) in Loro Parque. There doesn’t seem to be any specific information on who owns Morgan.

In December of 2017, a news article published on Morgan claimed the female orca was pregnant. Soon after, confirmation came from Loro Parque themselves. Her estimate then was that she would deliver at the end of 2018. Around June 2018, it became known Morgan was possibly farther along and may give birth at the end of summer. It’s a waiting game.
