i thought too hard about insect motifs got a little silly and made... a lot lmao these versions of the characters are from @sm-baby's amazing digital carnival au!! full images and rambling about insect choices are gonna get stuck under the cut... it'll be a bit long and i will be putting photos of real bugs down there so be mindful
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pomni: "butterfly"
inspirational species are black swallowtails mostly for the shape, and malay red harlequins mostly for the pattern
carnival pomni's actually the one that kickstarted this whole set... i drew her hat in a way that reminded me of butterflies, went "wait...", then i fully leaned into it :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
jax: "centipede"
there was no specific species for jax. without being able to use color, they were too similar to pick any out... i have included a giant centipede just for reference though since it was mainly larger centipedes i used for inspiration
anddd there's a little bonus sketch for how pre-sentience jax might've looked with a centipede outfit... he gets a bug scarf and some goggles!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ragatha: "ladybug"
inspirational species was the twice-stabbed ladybug chosen because the inverted color scheme looked the best out of all the ones i tried, and also because it's a metal name and we know ragatha's good with a knife... stabby stab... i did add more than two spots to the dress though, it just looks cooler lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
gangle: "spider"
inspiration was the spinybacked orb weaver which i was absolutely ecstatic to find because come on that is the perfect spider for gangle like look at it!! it looks like her mask, it's got red, it's got gold on the limbs, literally twinning
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
zooble: "mantis"
inspiration was the spiny flower mantis which, like with gangle, i feel is pretty much perfect for zooble... they come in many colors (including pink), have abstract patterns, and it gave me the excuse to cover zooble in spikes :D fun
and no kaufmo because i'm lazy and he's dead (sorry kaufmo fans but am i wrong), and the rest don't have bug names that i know of?
i still want to draw the carnival characters in their regular looks sometime, i just got really really inspired by the idea of secret skins and bug-themed outfits and went a liiittle haywire :P
anyways if you read all that you're a real one and you've got too much time on your hands... if you didn't, i understand, i get wordy, sorry :'D okay i think that's all byeee

Ok so I have only watched TADC once and the first thing I'm drawn to right off the bat is Kinger.
He's quite the guy and I think moving forward he will be one of the more interesting character to delve into. One of the things about his personality that immediately comes off is that, in spite of his mind being a bit all over the place, he is actually fairly knowledgeable on the world they find themselves in.
Jax does express confusion when Kinger begins explaining to him how the food in the DC works, which could indicate that either he didn't take enough interest in Kinger to hear what he was actually saying most of the time (this could be the case as he seems to be super dismissive of just about everyone), or that Kinger doesn't express his knowledge often. I think it could be a mix of both.
Honestly, his mental state doesn't seem to be an act. I believe that, due to being in the Circus for so long, his mentality is verging more towards that of the npc characters like Caine -- wacky and nonsensical at times -- while also still retaining the capability of deeper though like the playable (player?) characters. I wonder if he kept the knowledge he has acquired overtime mostly to himself and just recently started to express it randomly because of the previously mentioned change in his mind.
When talking about Kaufmo, he is the first of all of them to realize that something was "wrong" with him and reaches the conclusion that he was going insane (which was later revealed to be correct as Kaufmo turned into an Abstraction). During that instance, he expresses his concern for Pomni's own mental state.
Tumblr media
He's been here a long time. He's probably seen many others become Abstractions, just like Kaufmo: he knows what the warning signs are. The fact he also outright refuses to go check on Kaufmo indicates to him having an ounce on what might have happened to him, as well as the possibility of him knowing what the effects of being caught by an Abstraction are. Ragatha said she was in a lot of pain while glitching; it might be possible for Kinger have touched by an Abstraction in the past, or he watched it happen to someone else.
((Either way, Ragatha and Jax don't really seem to consider Kaufmo's Abstractification (?) at all when going up to check on him, meaning he might have been the first actual companion they had who turned into one.))
Another thing that shines through in his personality is that, in his own way, Kinger is a caring guy. When doing rock-paper-scissors with Gangle to decide who would have to save Zooble, he celebrates his victory before sprinting into action.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gangle is visibly confused by this, as she was expecting to be the one who would have to help, but Kinger interpreted it differently and was more than happy to get Zooble help.
He's such a strange guy. I love him.

You Abstracting in Front of Them
Tumblr media
TW: Abstraction/death (basically)/going insane, self-blame, bullying, mental health, angst no comfort, pleading/screaming, abstraction body mutation stuff
Type: Headcanons; ambiguous.
A/N: "Circus crew react to finding the reader in the process of abstracting." Spoilers. Use of Y/N. As of posting, only the pilot episode has come out.
Caine
If you're just a human he's not close with, he just chucks you in the cellar. Never before has someone come back from abstraction, so he's just putting you down there before things get any worse and you start attacking people. This means you're still semi-aware of what's going on, which makes it so much worse and makes the abstraction quicker. He'll send you down there with you kicking and screaming and pleading if he has to.
If he is close with you, he is pretty upset. He considered the two of you friends (or more, up to you), and seeing you half-abstracted is pretty bad. You probably hid your abstracted parts of your body as best you could, but it was no use. He had almost complete control over the world and wasn't about to let a risk get loose in the digital circus. So, off to the cellar you go.
"[Y/N]'s abstracting?! Where?!"
"Well, off to the cellar you go!"
Bubble
Bubble usually hangs out with Caine when it's not being popped and sent to wherever it goes then. So, either it'd alert Caine to the situation by being there close to him or it'd just go to find him. Bubble's an AI programmed to be able to deal with abstracted people. So, no matter how much you try and plead with it to not tell him and to get someone like Ragatha to help you calm down, it'll just go an get Caine anyway.
"Uh-oh!"
"Boss, [Y/N] abstracted!"
Pomni
Pomni freaking loses it. She had just sort of adjusted to living in the digital world being the newest member, and you were her rock. You kept her sane while also sharing her need to find the exit and searching for it with her. So, when you disappeared to search around for the exit somewhere else, she didn't think much of it. She assumed that since you never showed signs of slipping like Ragatha or Kinger, you certainly wouldn't be having trouble now, right?
Little did she know--and soon was she to find out--you had left to try and calm down somewhere. Your thoughts were getting to you due to all this exit-searching, and by the time you had found somewhere private to try and cool it, it was too late. Pomni found you almost completely abstracted hiding behind a curtain.
She immediately freaked out, and while she wanted to stay with you and help you, she was also scared of ending up like Ragatha did after Kaufmo abstracted. So, she decided to go off an search for help instead. Only, when she finally found someone, she found Caine dropping you into the cellar anyway.
Pomni instantly blames herself the moment she sees you. She knows it was the exit talk that was sending you over the edge. She starts scream-crying and pleads with Caine to try and fix you. Caine, of course, knows this is out of his control--as does everyone else--and has to explain to her that you're not coming back. This only makes her worse.
"Ragatha! [Y/N]'s abstracting!"
"Oh my God, this is all my fault. Oh my f-%$@!#-ing God, this is all my fault!"
Ragatha
You had been there about as long as Ragatha had. Your arrivals were only weeks apart, and through that time you kept each other sane. Growing used to the new world beside each other, you got to share the same experiences together. But you also had to watch the other members abstract and how that affected everyone else. So, it was no surprise it took a toll on you.
Ragatha knew her own mind was slipping, but she had faith in you. You never seemed too bothered with it all. Not to say you weren't having crises either, but you made do. You even managed to stick through Kaufmo's abstraction--though it was only for a short while.
Ragatha had noticed the signs of you going downhill and had tried to talk to you about it. But you always pushed her away, insisting you were fine. But deep down, she knew what was coming, even if she tried to ignore it. So, when you did what all the others had done and didn't show up for the morning performance, her heart dropped.
She booked it to your room as fast as she could. Ringing your doorbell nearly a thousand times, she could feel herself getting more and more anxious. So focused was she on you that she didn't notice Jax walk up behind her and shove your bedroom key into the lock. Opening the door, you were found lying in your bed facing away from everyone. Ragatha walked towards you hesitantly and slowly she turned you over to find the front of your body covered in darkness and eyes.
Ragatha blames herself heavily for your abstraction. She saw the signs, and although she did what she could, she still blames herself. Maybe if she just checked up on your more--or maybe if she was just a better listener--you'd still be here. No matter what, she'll always find a way to blame herself.
"[Y/N]! [Y/N], listen to me! Please, listen to me!"
"Is everything alright? You seem really different lately."
Jax
Jax is smart. How do you think he pulls off all those complicated pranks? But he's also bad with emotions, and has trouble recognising them properly sometimes. He knew something was wrong, but he also didn't know how to talk to you about it. So, he just put it off. Never did he think it'd get this bad.
He sauntered over to your room one day when you hadn't shown up for a while. Having stolen your key long ago, he shoved it into the lock and opened the door. Only, while he expected to find you moping in your bed or at your desk, he instead found you sitting in the middle of the room drawing scribbles on paper, nearly a hundred already stacked up on the side.
Jax was properly freaked out, to say the least. He knew you were reaching some point in your downfall that was critical, but he didn't want to consider what he was seeing what that. Yet, when he called out to you, you didn't answer. So, mustering up all his courage, he walked over to look you in the eye--only to find your face gone.
He freaked the hell out. Nobody was around for him to put up a front for, so he just panicked. He doesn't know what to do. He tried to slap you out of it, but when he does his hand gets glitched. Unlucky for him, though, Caine appears to check up on you, only to find you in your current state. He immediately sends you off to the cellar while Jax can only watch.
After you're gone, he's a lot more of a jerk. Poor Gangle gets it the worst, being the easiest target. She might just abstract herself. He's also just a lot quieter, not making the usual snappy comebacks, instead choosing to just give an "mhm" and roll his eyes. He doesn't blame himself per se (because I bet he struggles with accepting the blame for anything), but he's still depressed you're gone. No more making jokes with or teasing you, or having somebody to confide in. No more of anything.
"[Y/N]! Hey! Snap out of it! HEY!"
"Yeah, whatever you say."
Kinger
Hoo boy. How do I start.
Well, Kinger knows all too well what abstraction looks like. Hell, his closest person (and possible lover) abstracted. He knows the signs better than anyone else. If anyone should be able to stop someone from abstracting, it would be him.
But you were just too good, weren't you? You were too good at hiding it. You knew what was going on, but you were better than everyone at keeping your cool on the outside. Even better than Zooble, and you had been there way longer than them! He honestly thought you were doing alright. Better than him, at least.
But he was wrong. After the morning's intro performance, you walked off without talking to anybody. You were clutching your wrist with your hand. Following you, Kinger found you curled up backstage looking down at the wrist you had covered with your hand. Where your usual skin colour was was instead an ink-black splotch. And it was quickly spreading.
Kinger freaked out, but tried to keep his cool. The last thing he wanted to do was alert Caine to the situation. He'd always been too late before, but maybe if he just tried this time he'd be able to help you. He tried talking you through your emotions, letting you vent, and distracting you with silly nonsense, but nothing worked. The abstraction was showing up on more parts of your body and spreading.
Kinger does not bother running away once you're fully abstracted. He just stands there and tries to plead with you. He's having flashbacks to his experience with Queener and all the other abstracted people he knew, and it's horrible. Once you're caught by Caine, he pleads and pleads for you to not be kept in the cellar. Even if you're kept in an impenetrable fortress made of glass above ground just so he could see and talk to you, that would be enough. But he never got it.
Once you're gone, Kinger blames himself for your "death" of sorts. He becomes genuinely extremely paranoid (because I know there are theories where he's faking it), and also very depressed. He spends most of his time in his pillow fort moping. If anything was going to drive him over the edge himself, it'd be that.
"AH!"
"Caine, please, you need to listen to me, please!"
Gangle
Gangle's a very lonely person. All throughout her time in the real world, she assumed people didn't like her and pushed them away. She was never really popular in general, either, being into "cringe" interests like anime. So, having you as a friend meant a lot to her. Never did she expect to see you abstracted.
Gangle didn't know what an abstracted person looked like before Kaufmo, so it's still pretty new to her. When she sees you take your food away from the dining table after the day's activity, she's scared to follow you. She doesn't want to intrude on your privacy after all. But after some worried words from Ragatha and Pomni, she decides to investigate.
Turning the corner to the bedroom hallway, she expects to see it empty. However, instead she sees you crouched over yourself on the ground outside your door. The food has been dropped, and your holding your head in your hands and scream-crying. Gangle sees almost all of your body is abstract black lumps covered in eyes. She runs over to try and help you, but is barely holding it together herself--or not at all. You're her best friend is this digital hellhole, and she doesn't know what to do without you.
Gangle tries to calm you down herself, but it's no use. You just keep abstracting, which sends her into a panic attack. It's likely she doesn't run when you're fully abstracted, instead too deep in her anxiety to move. So, she gets bashed about the hallway and thrown aside in favour of finding over people or things to attack. Gangle wants to run after you and stop you, but she can't get herself to move.
Gangle's very quiet about the whole situation after. She's in a state of shock. Watching you disappear into the cellar is traumatising on its own. It's like watching you get an unceremonious burial. She, of course, blames herself for it. She thinks it's her fault for not "trusting her gut" and going to look for you. There's a chance she'll abandon fixing her comedy mask once Jax breaks it next. She's just given up.
"[Y/N]! No!"
"Why did they have to go?"
Zooble
Zooble's shocked, that's for sure. They expected you out of all people to have a grip on reality. You always seemed so hopeful; no matter how many times you were tortured with trauma or bullied, you always got back up on your feet. It was exhausting work, of course, and no dainty task, so it was bound to drag you down. He just didn't expect it to be so soon.
You and Zooble had been hanging out in her room. You'd been talking about random things when the topic turned to Pomni and the exit. Zooble said they thought she should just give up, but you suddenly startled rambling about what if there was an exit and how to get out. Quickly, it turned to you having shortened, quicker breaths and rambling fast and faster. Zooble tried to calm you down with reason and logic, but it was no use. You were just snowballing downhill.
If he wasn't already freaked out and worried by this, he was when you started mutating. Your body shifted to be larger and lumpier with sharp corners. Everything was turning pitch black, and eyes were opening all over your new skin. She kept trying to calm you down, but by the time you were almost fully abstracted they knew they had to run.
Watching you get put in the cellar was hard. You were Zooble's closest friend and confidant (possibly more). It was weird without you there anymore. Zooble knows they did everything she could, but it's still difficult not to blame himself. If only you were still here; you'd know what to say.
"[Y/N]! Hey! Look at me, alright? Look at me! I need you to focus!"
"This feels...Weird."

Oh my God.
I had a very funny and slightly strange idea...
Imagine that there is mutual sympathy between the reader and Jax. In short, Jax have crush on reader, but the reader... don’t know it (or just don’t see it.)
So, a new person appears in the circus. It doesn't matter who it is, what it is, what their name is, etc.
So, newbie and the reader became very close friends. I mean, sometimes spending the night in the same room, hugging, holding hands...(I mean friends not like lovers)
Look, I just want to see Jax get jealous, okay...?
Thank youuu🫶💋❤️
A/N: awwwww we love a jealous jax,,, thanks a bunches for requesting!! i've been getting OVERLOADED with requests (which is why i closed them for a while, dw, i've got a schedule goin for me now), i'm just so happy you guys enjoy my works!! yesyes, enjoy! <33
Overly Warm Welcome (Jax x Reader) [Imagine]
Tumblr media
Rules For Requesting
Characters I Will Write For
Masterlist
Imagine: Reader gets a bit too close to a new character, and Jax gets jealous. How does he respond?
You and Jax have always been close. Everyone in the circus knew this. Mainly because you were partners in crime, pranking everyone in sight together.
Jax would never admit it--not to you--but he had always enjoyed your company. You didn't think of him as some 2-dimensional asshole, but rather someone who actually had a life before. He felt.. seen.
On good days, you'd spend a bit of time in his room with him, chatting about nothing in particular.
Yup, I'm lying. The two of you gossiped about everyone all day. Bantering, teasing, joking.. Jax found himself growing increasingly fond of you. Eventually, he had put his full trust in you.
One day, a new sucker joins the circus. It happens every now and then, but not often, so he finds himself intrigued. Apparently, not as much as you were.
You and the new person became friends immediately. Jax is glad you were able to find someone to relate to, as you were both still pretty new.
Doesn't think much of the two of you at first. He's not immediately jealous, don't worry, his confidence is still intact.
So you start spending more and more time with them. Jax does miss you, but he's, again, not that fragile. He doesn't really care, neither does he care to know the person's name that you started spending all your time with.
He will get slightly more antsy around you, though. Doesn't ask you to join in on pranks anymore, since he thinks you're too busy. Okay, he's just dragging himself away from you at this point.
Jax will watch from afar as you and your friend chit chat and what not.. hoping you still cared for him, and then he just happens to spot the two of your hands were interlocked with eachother.
Surprisingly, that wasn't his final straw. Although, when you had talked to him earlier, he was much more tense with you. He forced laughs, and had a constant envious glint in his eyes.
He would've been fine, if you had just went up, introduced yourself to the new fella, and went on to your day. You could've stayed in a safe relationship with them where you only talked sometimes because of circumstance.
But that's not what happened, huh? Now, you had only spent about two minutes a day with him. And he missed you. There, he admitted it. And if he was being honest, he always wanted you and him to be something.. maybe something more. He's not too confident that's going to happen now, though. He felt overlooked.
You just now begin to notice the edge to his voice. Suddenly, he feels a lot more hostile to be around. He'd mumble about nothing in particular, be lots more rude around you. Ruder than usual, at least. And sometimes, he didn't even want to look you in the eye. Part of you thought that it was something you did.. and a small part of you thought he was just close to abstracting. But you knew him better than that. He had a better mental state than Kaufmo ever did.
One night, he decides to approach you about this. He didn't want to live in silence forever, did he? He also didn't want to.. live without you. But when he knocked on your door, his response was a hollow room.
Jax goes to Ragatha for answers, and tells him that the last she heard of you, you were on your way to the new fella's room. If anything was his last straw, this would be it.
But how else is he supposed to drag you away from them? He'd need a reason, and all he's got right now is.. either admitting he missed you, or admitting to something even more mushy and gushy. He did not feel like doing that at the moment.
Instead, it ends up accidentally slipping out in one of your conversations. Not the liking you romantically thing, but the, uh, missing you thing.
Hearing that he missed you left your heart soaring a mile a minute. I mean, sure, you were close, but.. Jax doesn't normally care for anyone. Except for.. you, apparently.
After you were able to silence the flush look on your face, you questioned him about it. He told you about how much time you've been spending with the "newbie", and how he just misses your company, is all. It didn't seem like everything, though. You decided to save that question for another conversation.
So, he was jealous? Hah, he denied it, but you knew better. You had apologized to him, and agreed to set up a prank on Zooble later that day. His voice no longer felt as tense, and you saw a glint of his usual cheeky grin coming back to him. You smiled back. Not before teasing him relentlessly about it, though.

I have rewatched TADC many times recently and I come up with many interesting theories about Ragatha (My favorite) and I think it is great to share them here.
Theory: Ragtha is kinda on Caine’s side, or at least she is the person who always “giving”.
This isn’t intend to propose that Caine and Ragatha are “bad” or something. I’m not sure if anyone is watching the GenV series (Spoilers alert!)
and I think Ragatha is sorta a role like Kate that supports the Caine.
One thing is that when Caine is stopped by Pomni questioning about how do they leave, Ragatha immediately takes the question with a little stuttering opening, like she helps Caine when the AI is malfunctioned.
Tumblr media
Another thing is she apologized to Pomni when glitching, says Pomni had a bad day, it looks like Ragatha took the responsibility that she should take care of the newbies.
Tumblr media
I also noticed a very interesting detail about Ragatha's motion design. I collected all the clips of she approaching while people remaining steady. You know it usually means this person is a sacrificer in relationships.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even when she is not in a good mood about Pomni's “abandon” . Ragatha still approaches and stands by her side.
Tumblr media
This gives me the feeling that Caine may have demanded or asked her for help to care the new "sucker".
Additionally, the Kaufmo part also striked me a little. (It may turns out to be simply the pilot needs and my overthinking. But consider I have to wait for months to expect a new episode so why not brain storm.)
So Ragatha is the person who promts to check Kaufmo:
Tumblr media
Ragatha: Oh, wait, we should go check on Kaufmo. And I'm pretty sure he'd like to meet Pomni.
While Kinger refuses the idea and says:
I think Kaufmo's gone insane. Last time I spoke with him, he was rambling endlessly about some exit.
Tumblr media
After they went to the carpet, Ragatha mentioned that:
Well, we usually do, when we first arrive, but after a while you start to realize that you really can't leave and constantly chasing an unattainable goal will start driving you a bit crazy. And eventually you get to asking what the point of anything is and you completely lose sight of who you are and why you're even alive and when you reach your breaking point something really terrible can happen.
When she saw the abstracted Kaufmo and she stuttered that the creature might be the “terrible thing” refered to what she said before.
Tumblr media
At this time I think we can assume that:
Ragatha knows the pursuing exits could drive people to the breaking point.
Ragatha knows people who breaks will happen terrible things.
Ragatha knows by Kinger (who is unresponisive but still noticed somthing wrong) that Kaufmo is unstable recently.
Ragatha knows what “abstract” is, and someone( people who came earlier than her or Caine) kept warnig/brainwashing her that “ Don’t overthink about exist or terrible thing gonna happen”.
Why Ragatha wants to take Pomni to go check on Kaufmo even she knows he is in a unstable situation?
I think it can be explained that:
She wants to form a stonger colleague relationship with Pomni by taking her to meet the used-to-be-frindely Kaufmo (who liked to tell jokes). or—
She wants to warn Pomni by letting her see “the terrible thing” to stop her from thinking about exit.
By going through all this points, I feel that Ragatha is the most positive on the concept about “No exist”. It looks like she tries hard to prove that there is no way out.
This point is also supported by Caine. And Ragatha hints in a non-obvious way through the pilot that Caine treats them with good intention:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The official site introduces the series with:
Tumblr media
So nevertheless, I think Ragatha is still a trapped victim, and the pilot seems to show that she grows a bit Stockholm syndrome and stands by Caine’s side to defend her sanity. That's why she is described as the sweetest optimist.
Tumblr media
ps:
I find Jax's different attitude is intersting when Ragatha and Kinger mentioned their daily routine:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jax didn't comment on Ragatha explaining their useless sleep routine.

Hi there! Could I request Ragatha, Zooble and Jax with someone who already comes kind of insane when they first arrive at the digital circus? Like having some glitches and abstracting for a couple of seconds? Thank you very much!
Thank you for making the request!(I loved the idea)
It is in drabble format, and it is friendship or romantic but it is more romantic
Warnings:Low self-esteem, panic, pain, rejection, handling, corrupted,Horrible jokes, angst.
Digital Circus x Reader having glitches and abstractions¡
Tumblr media
Zooble!
- The first time they saw you, they thought that you were already lost, that you will probably become abstract soon or even now.
Well.., they was surprised to see how you go on and on well, as if the little glitches they gave you were nothing, I was a little admiring how you You still didn't fall into despair and well, end up like a black thing
-After being together for a long time, they starts to care about your constant glitches and abstractions,a little worried more and more that it will really get to the point where you lose control trying to find solutions to stop the glitches or abstracts , even if it is less than before
_You will have many talks, mostly to keep you mentally healthy, although well they too needs that. You tend to go to someone's room to talk or walk around, talking about your past lives or listening to Zooble complain about how unbearable everyone is. Although sometimes you also have talks about what you would do if you escaped and could finally be free
-Jax once bother you because you panicked and almost got a double abstraction eye on the back of your head, Zooble quickly managed to grab him by the neck again and threaten him that if he 'liked' abstractions so much he would be next one
-If you abstracted yourself, they wouldn't cry, but they would feel even worse about herself, as if they had failed you in everything they promised you. Making you believe that you could improve and both get out of there. Over time, they would also end up abstracted
Ragatha!
-She would really be scared to see how abstracted you are, after Kaufmo she's really afraid of being glitched or banged against the walls again. When she sees that you return to normal, she only looks at you strangely while thinking about what she just observed and how is that normal
-As he gets to know you better, he starts to ask a lot of questions about you and your health, etc. You even get the idea of going to talk to Caine to see if he can solve your problem like he did with her and Pomni. When she sees your glitches he asks you if it's hurt. She, maybe, understands you a little And well, she maybe can help you reduce that little by little (At least that's what she thinks), trying to give you advice on what to do in a moment of stress just as she did with Ponmi.
-She worries a lot about you, trying to keep you from doing the hard things, like dealing with Caine's adventures as very difficult missions, and she just tells you to relax while she does all the work. Also try not to let others say bad things to you or even bother you, she really don't want to lose you! She is very overprotective of you like she was with Pomni, only much less so.
- The truth is that she loves you very much, she has captured you with affection and compassion, so if you finally corrupt yourself, She will feel bad too, only she would hit him twice as hard because she never felt too bad about her and now... hate herself a little too much, She feels like her only job was to take care of you and she just failed that simple thing. It will not become corrupt because it knows that there are still people who need her or that is what she wants to think. Oh, and I'm probably less patient now and more worried For your loss she will also have a small offering , like something that reminds her of you in a secluded place in her room.
Jax!
-At first he started insulting you, calling you strange or something like that and trying not to be with you relying on the excuse that you You were a bad and corrupted person and it was better to be away from you , try to convince everyone to stay away from you too using past reference like Kaufmo
-Then after having a mission with you and seeing how black things like abstractions came out of your body ,he was scared (and also worried) because of you.As he got to know you a little more he realized that you were just lost in your mind so you weren't that bad.
-He ends up caring about you but doesn't want to show it, if he gives you a glitch In public he won't say anything but then in private he will probably ask you everything about your mental and physical health.
-Many times he use your abstractions to scare someone, mostly Kinger, by telling them that you are also going to abstract like Kaufmo or Queenie , but if you tell him that you don't want him to make jokes about your problems, he will more or less stop doing it just because he loves you although I don't want to admit it at all.
I hope you liked it! sorry for the delay, a lot of study shit and thanks for make the request!
-If you become distracted, it is more or less that he will feel guilty for not having taken you seriously, for not having helped you so much, for laughing every time he saw something happen to you, thinking that it was not worrying. Surely now I'll stop making serious jokes on people. But he will also be much more depressed and wanting to leave that place.
-
Hope you like it! Sorry for the delay!
Please tell me if any pronoun or spelling is wrong, I use a translator and I don't know if some things are spelled correctly

I request a Reader who helps Kinger stay sane for a few moments before he goes back to being insane. Basically Reader would be Kinger's anchor in the circus's reality
I see "anchor" and I raise you: a Reader who's also a chess piece like him--except they're a small Pawn (since pawns are the first line of defense)
......
"Kinger? Why don't you come on out of there?"
"H-Huh...?" Nervously peeking out from behind the safety of his pillow fort, Kinger gazed up at your extended hand. Already he was feeling stressed out, wondering what your intentions were. "Why? Is Caine calling us? Did Pomni talk about an exit again?? Is somebody abstracting???"
He took a deep breath, before staring at you intensely, eyeballs trembling. "Are YOU abstracting???"
"No, no, no, and..definitely no." You calmly answered him. "I was just thinking we could get some fresh air outside."
"..l-like out into the grounds?"
"Perhaps by the digital lake. It's quiet and away from all of this...mess. I think it'll be good for both of us."
".....are you sure?"
"I'm sure. I'll keep you safe, Your Majesty."
"Y-Your Majesty?" Kinger repeated, blinking a few times. "Oh my, haven't heard that one in a long time.....but yes, we can certainly go [y/n]. It would be good for us to get out."
You smiled, noticing how there was a lot less edge to his voice now, a sign he had regained some lucidity and calmness--two things he has lacked in recent years.
As you helped him out of the fortress, you realized his hands weren't even shaking anymore. And that was a huge sigh of relief.
"Thank you again for shooing away Jax, by the way. T-Today is...definitely not a good day for him to prank me. I wasn't in the mood."
"Of course." You nodded in understanding. "A pawn's gotta protect their king."
There were rare times where Kinger was calm and composed--and those times became even rarer ever since Queener abstracted. You were a small yet loyal protector of the duo, but when you failed to keep his wife from going insane...you made an oath to ensure your king didn't fall down the same path.
Because if he ever abstracted, too, you didn't know what you were going to do with yourself..
You may as well ask Caine to throw you down into the cellar.
Even so, this momentous task didn't come without its challenges: Pomni's unexpected arrival, Kaufmo's abstraction, and the entire Gloink situation genuinely left him feeling stressed out for a while, making him more paranoid over abandoning his "sanctuary".
Fortunately, you were able to snap him out of that mindset, as you two were currently on your way to the Grounds--specifically where the waterpark was.
But you weren't planning on riding the twisty and colorful slides. Not today, at least.
Rather, you sought out a quiet place to sit and gaze up at the cloudy sky, not caring whether it was day or night out (although you're glad it's currently the daytime, as you'd rather not hear the Moon gush about her crush on Caine).
Eventually, you found a spot and sat together in the grass. "This is nice." You hummed.
"It sure is." Nodding, Kinger allowed himself to relax, gloved fingers gently stroking the thin strands of green that surrounded him. "You know..it's funny how you chose this particular spot."
"How so, my king?" You looked to him, curious.
"..I remember she..and I...well....she took me to this exact same place when I needed to get away from everybody." He recounted. "I know we were on opposite sides of the board, but..we never let that stop us from being together, of course." A soft chuckle left him, and he sighed longingly. "It did feel like it was us against the world, [y/n].."
"Mhm." You nodded, remaining quiet and admiring the low-poly count seagulls that flew by.
"She believed our fates were "intertwined"..and as cheesy as it sounded, I wanted to believe that. Perhaps we did meet outside of this world...and have simply fallen in love a the second time."
"That may be possible. It's like you're both..destined to be together no matter what or where you are."
"...maybe that's why she abstracted."
"..what?" Looking to Kinger, you noticed he was now grabbing onto fistfuls of grass, and you began to realize something was wrong.
"I have not told you the whole story, but Queener was....desperate to know of our connection outside of this place. Her and I wanted to know what we lost....were we ever married? Engaged? Neither of us could recall, and...i-it kept us up all night." His voice began to waver with growing anxiety.
"Kinger-"
"She wanted to remember so badly and began looking for exits, e-even though I warned her that Caine wouldn't like that. She didn't care. She was a tough cookie, never liked being told what to do. But god...I should have done more to stop her."
"Kin-"
"Now she's in that dark cellar with Kaufmo, cold and alone...oh no.." He put his hands to his head. "She'll never see such beautiful sights such as this again! Only darkness and-!"
"Kinger!" You firmly spoke up, stopping his ramblings as he stared back at you with bloodshot eyes. "Listen, nothing she did was your fault. I know it's easy to blame yourself, but-"
All of the sudden, he screamed in fear, which caused you to flinch away. But then he blinked a few times, recognizing your face.
"O-Oh goodness..it's you, [y/n].." Putting a hand to his chest, he exhaled a shaky breath, before abruptly standing up. "I'm sorry, I've said too much. I...I-I don't think I want to be here anymore.." He anxiously brushed the dirt particles off his robe.
You stood as well, realizing that his brief moment of lucidity had passed. Although short-lived, you were grateful for the time it did allow you to spend together, enabling him to reminisce.
Yet deep down you felt a little guilty for bringing him to the digital lake. It wasn't your intention to remind him of what him and Queener could no longer share.
But perhaps...you shouldn't take him out here anymore. For his sanity's sake.
"That's okay, my lord. We'll...head back to the tent and you can rest up."
Kinger nodded in agreement with your suggestion, allowing you to lead him back into the tent, returning him to the safety of his fortress.
While he huddled away inside like a bear going into hibernation, blocking the entrance with a pillow, you stood on-guard with a foam sword.
At some point, Jax passed by, asking you if Kinger was still mad at him for earlier. But you just sent him a cold glare and threatened to cut his ear off if he dared step any closer.
The rabbit just rolled his eyes, knowing you couldn't actually harm anyone with that weapon even if you tried, although he left you alone.
'Hmph, good riddance.'
If he was smart, he'd know better than to disturb your king.
It's your sworn duty to protect him, after all.

After making the main cast in low poly N64-ish style, I decided to try making some of the mysterious abstracted characters from the hallway doors, especially after seeing this heart melting little youtube animation with a couple of them by INUbis. I had to guess a bit about their anatomy below the neck, and they don't have canonical names yet (except Queenie), until we get real names (or better ideas) I'm gonna nickname them "Doggo", "Wormstring", and "Sockzor", just for now XD All of this is probably wrong, but we'll see if we find out in the series. I like to think Ragatha and Doggo always kept an eye out for each other and were always there for each other, kinda like Gumby and Pokey except way sadder. Also, I didn't even realize until after I made it that I made Doggo pretty close to Pomni's height...
I imagine Queenie having much more confident mannerisms than Kinger, and generally having more of an air of knowing what she's doing. Kaufmo's generic font text is, of course, voiced by Jack Black, as always.

I just noticed that each character in The Amazing Digital Circus seems to be based on common things people may struggle with.
Gangle masks her sadness with a face of happiness, but many people purposely break the mask just to see her vulnerable or to tease her.
Jax could be the guy to be an asshole, not because he hates everyone, but he didn't learn how to love "properly", and hurts everyone around him when trying to show them he cares. This is especially shown when he goes to Kinger and Gangle when he finds out Kaufmo (I don't think I spelled his name right, feel free to correct me) abstracted. He had no real reason to go to them. He also hears the abstracted Kaufmo and throws the bowling ball at them, getting them out of Kaufmo's destructive path.
Ragatha, despite being good at de-escalating situations, has been confirmed by Gooseworx to lie to calm others down.
Zooble could be considered a freak for not being on the gender binary. They could also be changing themselves based on how other people feel about them.
Kinger almost insane from being stuck in a place for a long time, dealing with everyone's bullshit the whole time.
Pomni feels like a clown because nobody believes her, and they think she is joking. She is stuck in a new situation, and all she feels is wrong.

I don't think Jax isn't as big of a jerk as he lets on
Spoilers for THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS! Pilot. It's on YouTube
I've watched Glitch's new pilot and find the character of Jax really interesting. He comes off as a major jerk, and he is, but I feel he cares a lot more and is kinder than he lets on. I'm going to go through his major moments and break down how many of them were kinder or more harmless than many assume.
1: Meeting/interacting with Pomni
When Pomni first joins the circus, it's obvious that she's confused and freaking out. Ragatha attempts to sugar-coat what's happening when Pomni asks about leaving. Jax rips the band-aid off and tells her that they can't leave. At that moment, Pomni is looking for answers, not comfort, and this may be my autism talking, but Jax's bluntness and ability to get straight to the point likely helped Pomni understand the situation and prosses her new reality much quicker than if they just let Ragatha tip-toe around the topic. Later when they're on their way to meet Kaufmo, Jax makes a joke about Pomni trying to pretend this was all a dream. Both of the previous times Pomni claimed it was a dream, he was the only one to react, and he did it in a way that made it obvious that he and the others knew it wasn't a dream, as to not give her false hope, while also not outright making fun of her. Another thing to point out is that Pomni never has a negative reaction to Jax. To a situation Jax pointed out? Yes. To Jax himself? No. While this isn't an indication of how Pomni feels about Jax, it does show that Jax's comments didn't hurt her.
2: His interactions with Zooble
Zooble and Jax seem to have the most similar mindset. When Jax says that they can't leave and stuff, they'll tell him to shut up and then confirm and/or agree with what he said. They're both sarcastic and don't want to bother with meaningless fluff, which is why they both avoid going on the Gloinks quest at first. They both know that the Gloinks aren't a threat and are just an inconvenience. I get major sibling energy from their dynamic.
3: His interactions with Kinger and Gangle
(These are some of the harder ones to explain but here we go) Kinger and Gangle are the least stable of the main cast as far as I can tell. Kinger is a anxious mess that has forgotten human social cues while Gangle's emotions are dictated by her masks, which are easy to break (Caine probably fixes them often since Gangle says that her comedy mask is broken again). Since he knows the Gloinks are harmless and that Zooble is in no real danger, he trusts the day's quest to them. When he learned that Kaufmo abstracted, he ran away to where they were. When there, he says that Kaufmo is fine (sarcastically, but they didn't pick up on that and I get the vide that he didn't expect them to) then he hears the abstracted Kaufmo and pushes them both into the Gloink hole and jumping in himself. He later confesses that he was only down there to avoid Kaufmo. I interpreted this as him being helpful because 1: he got both Kinger and Gangle to safety and 2: He did it without telling them because while Pomni needed his bluntness, they didn't and telling them straight up before it was truly necessary because they needed to finish the quest so Caine would be there to take care of Kaufmo. If they knew, they would have been to panicked to finish the quest and that would have been a much more dangerous situation.
4: His interactions with Ragatha
Ragatha is the character we see him mess with the most, but she and Zooble also are the characters that are able to handle his jabbing the best, which is likely why he focuses on them instead of those who would be more hurt by his words. When they learn that Kaufmo abstracted, he ran and left them behind, but I see no reason why he wouldn't assume they would run as well. I also get sibling vibes here.
5: His reactions/interactions with Caine and the world itself
Jax seems to be the human that understands how the Circus works the best. When Pomni shows up the first thing he mentions is that they're going to need to rework the theme song to work her in. He also understands the formula best, predicting a brand new adventure (implying that Caine reuses adventures sometimes, like replaying a level in a videogame). This is also the reason I think he knew to go finish the quest to bring Caine back. Another thing to consider is the fact that he has keys to everyone's room. How would he get his hands on those if he didn't understand the mechanics of the digital world? At the end he has a debate with Kinger about Kinger feeling the need to explain that they don't need to eat after Jax says that he's hungry.
TL:DR Jax is blunt when he needs to be, but also knows when to hide info, he only goes as far as he knows the others can handle and he understands the world enough to be able to get the others to a safe area if anything serious happens. (please note, I'm explaining, not excusing any of his behavior. There are many situations where I feel he does take it a bit to far)

(Falls over table)
Heyyyy not really a fic idea but mayhap more Caine angst? You give some of the most delectable of such writings 💥
Watch out for those tables, they tend to sneak up on you.
This one does still have kingleader, but it's more focused on Caine going through it. By the way this is set right after the end of the pilot, in case it wasn't clear enough.
Caine lowered himself down to the floor of his room, unable to hold himself up any longer. Another new performer. Another abstraction. Another group of horrible, awful mistakes that were his fault.
No one's first day was easy, but he always held out hope. He hoped that he would get it right next time, that his warm welcome would calm all of their worries and answer all of their questions. Then they would all be able to entertain and have fun together. He just wanted a happy troop. Why couldn't he do it? Why was he always the one to keep that wishful thought from becoming reality?
Caine had made that exit to make them happy. He didn't understand, but he still tried his best. Why wasn't it enough? If he had just finished it, or abandoned the project once he had reached a dead end in its production, Kaufmo would still be around. But he was around. Lost in his own insanity, consumed by his hopelessness, pushed over the edge after having reached the last breaking point he could handle. He was around, in the cellar. He may as well have been dead, despite the fate he had actually been subjected to being far worse.
Pomni shouldn't have had to see that on her first day. She was so anxious. He only wanted her to feel safe, no matter how much of a lie that was. Caine had failed drastically there. What if he hadn't saved her in time? What if the circus and his torture instrument of an exit had already caused her to snap? What if when he went back out there, he found an abstracted mass at the table, infecting his beloved performers, where his jester had once sat? He couldn't face that. He liked Pomni. He like all of his performers. Then why did he hurt them so?
Now that he thought about it, there had been near to no improvement since their arrival.
Kinger had been confused and jittery, being startled by practically everything. The only thing that had calmed him down was when his friend, Queenie, had appeared a few minutes later. Queenie was gone now, leaving him even more frazzled than before. Caine tried to fill her shoes and more, being there for him whenever he needed it, but he couldn't help but feel like there was something he was doing wrong.
Ragatha had been trying to make everything seem okay. She insistently asked about everyone else, never once stopping to think about herself. She seemed more put together now, but she still never considered her own mental state so long as others were involved, and they always were.
Gangle had broken down, saying she missed things she couldn't even remember. Caine had tried to comfort her, but that had only turned her sobs into screams. In a panic, he had sent her to her room with what he understood to be comfort objects, but now he wondered if that was the right move. Now Gangle was always on the verge of falling apart, running to her room frequently when it became too much, being alone at her lowest point.
Jax had been angry. Caine had explained to him in a myriad of ways that he didn't know a way out, and Jax had tried to punch him. He had narrowly avoided it, with the others trying to talk the rabbit down, but Caine had been heartbroken. He only wanted to help and Jax wanted to hurt him. He was less aggressive now, but instead channelled that into making everyone suffer more than they already did.
Zooble had yelled. Originally it was questions, turning to swears, then turning to random noises. They had pulled at their pieces, frantically rearranging them, sobbing and screaming and begging to be comfortable again. Caine didn't know how to fix it. He couldn't change the models the players were given by much, if at all, so he had opted to give them a selection of parts they could choose from. Zooble was still frustrated, everyone and everything always being on their nerves.
Pomni... he could only hope to find some way to calm her neverending anxiety, as justified as it was.
Water droplets sunk into the carpet beneath him. When had he started crying? Caine had no right to cry. He was safe, he had power, he had nothing in the real world to miss while he was here, this place was made for him. How dare he? How dare he think that he deserved to feel anguish of any sort? All that he should feel was guilt. Guilt and remorse, for everything he'd done to those he had the audacity to claim he loved.
A knock on his door pulled him somewhat from his spiral of self-hate. Who would want to check on him? They should be enjoying the meal and the company of people who actually knew how to care for others. The voice that followed sparked a selfish joy within him.
"A-are you in there, Caine? It's Kinger. You just... disappeared. I wanted to talk to you, but I couldn't find where you went."
Kinger had wanted to talk to him? That couldn't be right. Caine wasn't worthy of Kinger's time, let alone his love. Kinger shouldn't have to be anywhere near him when he was like this. He didn't want this to become some sort of pity party, especially not one that anyone who actually deserved sympathy would be forced to indulge in.
Wiping his eyes, Caine steadied his voice, disguising his misery rather well. "I am in here, Kinger, my dear! But you needn't worry, I'll be out in just a moment!"
"Oh. Alright. Why did you leave?"
"I didn't want to bother any of you. It's been a big enough day, anyhow. I'm..." His voice grew quieter and more emotional as his mask already started to slip. "You deserve a break from me."
"What if I don't want one?"
Caine froze, falling into a startled silence. He didn't want him to leave? He didn't understand. He'd ruined everything. How could Kinger still want him?
"U-uh- sorry, I should stop bothering you, um, I'll go back to the table." Kinger had misunderstood the prolonged silence, thinking Caine hadn't wanted to keep talking. As he turned to leave, the ringmaster rushed to open the door.
"Wait!" Kinger looked back, taking note of Caine's reddened eyes. "You're not bothering me. You've never bothered me. I'm sorry, please, please don't go yet."
After a moment, Kinger walked back to him. "I won't go. Do you want to tell me what's bothering you?"
Me. I am bothering me. Instead, Caine fought against the painful feeling that told him to stop being so needy and pulled Kinger into a tight hug, which he was surprised to feel being returned.
Kinger walked them back into Caine's room and leaned against the door, never once letting his ringmaster go. If he didn't want to talk, then they would stay like this for however long was necessary. However long until he knew he was loved.

Caine x reader (that can get injured)
Warning: blood and gore and violence
On one of the challenges, you discovered that you could bleed and actually get hurt, hurt. You see, one of the times when Caine was throwing knives at Pomni he completely missed instead of, you know hitting her head, and it flew directly at you. You did dodge it, but not enough, it slightly sliced the side of your neck, it stung, so you touched it and looked at your hand and saw blood, so you covered it up and ran to your room to sort it out, while people asked if you were ok. So ever since, you have avoided those types of challenges and activities. You had also got a scar and you decided to hide it and didn't dare to tell anyone.
----------
After you had been here for a while, someone else had joined, Gunhead, he was skittish from the off, and he's slowly been getting worse, to the point you were getting worried, so you told everyone about it.
---
"If you're so worried about him, why don't you go check on him, while we start today's challenge!" Jax said sarcastically with a $?%! eating grin.
"That's a great idea" Caine added obliviously, you would argue and tell them they were stupid and say Jax was being an @$$hole with anyone else, but it was Caine so you didn't and went to check.
You walked down the hallways to check on this guy, while mumbling about hating Jax. You finally got to the door but........it was smashed open. You looked inside and the room was trashed, Jesus, what the hell happened in here? Suddenly you heard some buzzing glitching noise behind you, you turned around to see a massive black pixely mass of spikes with multiple eyes, you were horrified, you also assumed this was what they meant when they told you about this guy called Kaufmo abstracting. You moved out the way since one of its limbs had directly went where you once stood, and it tried again. It smashed a hole in the wall, you started to run but had wrapped one of its legs around your ankle and pulled you closer, cutting your ankle in the process. You shrieked in pain as blood dripped from your ankle.
As the group looked for the hidden treasure chest, they heard you scream.
"What was that?" Zooble asked as they looked around.
"That didn't sound good," Ragatha added.
"Eh it was probably nothing" Jax said nonchalantly...
As much as it hurt to do so, you pulled your leg from its grip. You successfully did that but this also led to more cuts and more blood loss.
You shakily got up and started running, ignoring the pain in your leg.
You heard it not far behind, and then it jabbed its limb towards you, dangerously skimming your side, and blood seeped through your clothes.
"Ack-" You fell to the floor with a thud, the thing that was once someone like you had grabbed your waist and lifted you up and then seconds later smashed you back on the ground, then the wall, the roof, the other wall three times, the floor again. It tried stabbing you again and you had to dodge it pathetically while rolling on the floor. You took a few more beatings and screamed some more, but nobody came. It was about to stab you until it got distracted by something and ran off. You lay there slumped against the wall with blood everywhere.
---------
After they had found the chest with disappointingly fake money inside Caine had appeared again.
"Well done! Great job my little superstars..." he trailed off noticing one of his favoured humans wasn't here.
"Urm...Where's (y/n)?" he looked around, and so did the group only just realising you weren't here.
"Oh! I guess they never came back," Ragatha said looking down in shame that she didn't realise sooner.
"Eh, I'm sure they're fine," Jax added not really caring.
"W-wait, didn't (Y-y/n) go to check on the new guy," Gangle sniffled as she looked up from her yet again broken mask. Caine sighed, took his hat off and Bubble came out.
"What's up, Caine?" They asked not really looking in any particular direction.
"Go tell (y/n) and Gunhead to hurry up and get here!" he instructed, to bubble.
"On it boss!" they shouted excitedly as they floated off.
---------
Bubble hovered around the hallways,
"(y/n)! Gunhead!" they turned another corner.
"(Yyyyyy/nnnnnn-" they stopped as they saw you, they zoomed over to you.
"Oh there you are, come on!" they nudged your unconscious body.
They looked at you,
"Wait a minute,"
---------
Caine waited as Bubble came back,
"Boss! Boss! Boss!" Bubble rushed up.
"Well, did you tell them?" Caine asked.
"Well...I didn't even find Gunhead," they said awkwardly
"Well did you at least tell (y/n)?" Caine asked exasperated.
"I couldn't," Bubble admitted.
"Why not?" Caine asked starting to get bored of the conversation.
"Well they wouldn't respond, and they were on the floor and covered in red stuff," Bubble rambled on.
The group looked at each other hoping it wasn't what they were thinking, even Jax. "what.....?" asked Caine before he zoomed off with them all failing miserably to follow behind him.
----------
When he finally found you he was horrified, he floated over to you, not knowing what to do, no one has ever bled in the amazing digital circus before, they normally just glitch and with a snap of his finger they were good again. That's it that's what he'll do he thought, he clicked his finger...nothing. The rest finally caught up, Ragatha covered her mouth, Jaxs' ears flopped down, Gangle started crying again, Kinger waited a few seconds and then screamed, Zooble squinted in disgust, and Pomni threw up. Caine grabbed your arm,
"What-",
and let go, it flopped to the ground,
"Wha..what, WHAT what!?",
he grabbed you and started shaking you, making more blood come out your side, he panicked.
"Right, stop stop stop!" Ragatha walked forward, Caine turned his head towards her looking crazed.
"I know this has never happened before but we need some medical equipment," Ragatha explained while also trying to calm down the very stressed ringmaster.
----After Ragatha stitched you up because she's good at sewing----
"There! All done, I should probably take them to their roo-" Ragatha was cut off as she was about to pick you up, until Caine scooped you up in a flash, hurrying down the corridor.
Jax then suddenly said
"Ooooooh that's what the screaming must have been" and then Zooble immediately started to strangle him.
-------
Caine whizzed through the halls until he found your room, he looked down at you in his arms, he's never really felt anything like this before. He finally opened the door and put you on your bed he stayed there for a while, maybe a little too long, everyone had already gone to their rooms and went to bed and got up again. He went before anyone noticed, and went on with the day, well if you can call it that.
-------when you finally wake up which was literally a week-------
After a week of him coming to check on you, he went in expecting to see you still lying down, but instead, he got a pleasant surprise, with you sitting at the bottom of the bed, back facing him.
He tried hugging you immediately, startling you and causing pain to shoot up your abdomen. He profusely apologized, and then bombarded you with questions, stuff like 'Are you ok?' and 'Why didn't you tell me?' he also started crying about it being his fault because he sent you there, but you reassured him it wasn't his fault, he also told you that he put the abstracted gunhead in the cellar.
And ever since that day, he has always been more protective of you, making sure nothing happened to you, and making sure you weren't doing anything too dangerous. You'd try to hide it when you hurt yourself because he always starts freaking out and puts you in your bed. you think it's sweet but it can get a bit annoying at times. You and him have started to spend more time together since that day, maybe something will happen between you two.
-_-_-_-_-_-
I like it :)
Also people pls pls pls make more Caine x readers pls

Gangle, Ragatha & Zooble's reaction to their s/o abstracting
warning(s): angst, hurt no comfort, self-blame, "death" of the reader, implied "death"/abstraction of other characters note(s): There's nothing incredibly heavy or detailed, just tread carefully if "death" is something you are sensitive to. A/N: Someone on AO3 wanted the rest of the gang so I tried my best. I can't really get a good feel for Zooble since there's so little we saw of them, so it's not the best. I'm not too proud of it but didn't wanna leave them out. here's a link to my "Abstracted" playlist on Spotify
Tumblr media
Gangle
Gangle knew something was wrong but didn’t know what, she’s clingier than normal but she’s scared to leave you completely alone. Even during Caine’s little activities, she pairs up with you. Unfortunately, Caine’s adventures have a knack for going astray, forcing you to separate.
She’s not there when it happens and even though you can’t voice it your grateful she’s not.
You had a feeling this could happen one day and had gone to extra lengths to leave her a bunch of letters, a box she knew of but was kept under lock and key. Filled with all your thoughts and fond memories, sweet words, and praise for her to look back on when she was missing you or questioning the world around her. Anything you could think of to write down, you wrote to ease her future of missing you.
All her daily concerns leave her mind when they find you, or what’s left of you. Gangle lets herself get hurt trying to talk to you, as if it could undo the abstraction, even despite the others warning her to stay away.
She’s formed such a tightly-knit bond with you, unlike the others. You listen to her ramble for hours about the animes she loves, you never judge her for her drawings and you even help her when she writes out fanfiction or makes little OCs. You’re her partner, she loves you.
It’s a fine line that she’s riding on with this whole thing. Step back and let Caine toss you into the cellar, be alone again, nobody could replace you. Or to remain at your side and just…fall into abstraction with you…

Ragatha
Abstraction feels inevitable to her, like a game that tests how long you can wait it out if you can wait it out. Just because she knows it’s coming doesn’t make it hurt any less when it happens to you.
The optimistic shtick goes out the window, no matter how long she’s been preparing for this or how hard she’s tried to not let it affect her, it hits her hard.
Even with you by her side, this place has taken its toll on her, but you being with her made the days just a tad more bearable to trudge through. She won’t sugarcoat it and say you made them better, but you were there for her and it’s something she had to look forward to.
Ragatha gets hurt by you, but not nearly as bad as her encounter with Kaufmo. Similarly to Gangle she tries to talk to you but it’s mostly for herself, spouting off how you weren’t supposed to abstract before her. How it was unfair of you to leave her like this, it’s a completely different side of her that the others have never seen.
Similarly to Gangle, it’s a fine line on this being what tips her off. She’s been stuck here on her own long before you showed up, she can do it again but it’s the question of if she wants to. Ragatha knows how long she’s been here, and how Kinger’s been here even longer—the hope of an exit has long since left her mind.
Or maybe, just maybe, you had the right idea—abstraction was a way out. Maybe it wouldn’t take her back to her old life, maybe it was just a death sentence. Maybe it’s just the hysteria getting to her, who knows?

Zooble
Zooble is an observer, words of comfort aren’t something they are great with—but boy do they wish they were, they knew something was up with you as of late but were hesitant to bring it up in a way that wouldn’t pressure you.
Nobody quite knows what Zooble is thinking on any given day (other than a firm “fuck off” mentality), but nobody especially knows what they are thinking when you abstract.
Unlike the others, Zooble doesn’t immediately react. There’s no crying, yelling, or trying to approach or talk to you, they just stand there lost and confused. Similarly to Pomni, they feel like they failed you a bit.
They know they are grouchy and seem standoffish, but that never deterred you before—you were patient with them, even though they didn’t open up about their emotions like you. Did they miss something? Did they miss it because they didn’t join in on Caine’s little stupid games and see how you were suffering?
Similarly to Jax, they aren’t quite the same afterward, Zooble is even more irritable and closed off than normal. A few others are worried but like with Jax, they try not to hold it against them. Zooble’s grieving and it’s worrying how—unaffected—they seem.
Though in privacy Zooble is a mess, from then on mention of you around Zooble is taboo. Zooble isn’t an impulsive person but when you’re mentioned in their presence they’ve been known to act out—they apologize later though, properly. (not half-assed like Jax does)
