Soooo… guess here are my current obsessions One Piece OCs

@auxiliarydetective I did give it a try… not everything is final yet. Might not be a great introduction like this but it was fun to do and if anyone has different questionaires (or whatever they're called) just tag me.^^

Ideas that first popped into my mind when certain OCs came to exist… Neri: it's a show about pirates, there's GOT to be a mermaid Niara: I want a character that uses a devil fruit mmmh what about plants/flowers (strangely enough, none of my pokemon oc's ever cared much about the grass type lol) Azura: I want a cool sword fighting lady Cordelia: I want a hot fierce type of character that looks good in black and that doesn't take anyone's crap Ellaria: came into the picture much later, I only recently decided somewhat on her looks, only things I know for sure is pale green eyes and can sort of see the future. Might never make it into any kind of story but she popped into my mind so here we go. Ginny: falls into the category "looks cute but can probably kill you".

So I came across this post today and I just had to go and try... damn I was so good with photoshop many years ago but now I was just like ??? the whole time so in the end, I ditched photoshop and tried photopea. Thanks to @auxiliarydetective clear instructions I did manage to create something! Started the day with a headache but now I'm happy :)

Unsure on the power scaling though - those really depends where the character is in the story (Niara's case mostly- she will get a lot stronger later on) and in Neri's case, well, she is pretty strong near or in the water but not that much far from it, so I tried to find a middle ground. Unsure of where Cordy's power will take her but at least Azura already is an accomplished swordswoman... I did leave the two unfinished characters out of it because they still don't have names...

I tend to overthink these things... coz Azura is pretty unhinged when drunk but otherwise not so much... also, I measured strenght as in overall strenght, meaning devil fruit power, special skills in battle and such...

So... I did try to get the start of Niara's journey written. In the project Niara originally appeared in, she is part of Ace's crew but in cannon... she might start her journey with Ace and I can see those two having sibling/friendship vibes but in cannon I think at some point Niara's story would lead her down a different path since she's going to meet Law. (Which also leaves open several possibilities of Niara rushing to Marineford to save Ace or having a hard time later on and so on - I'm trying to avoid spoilers so I'm being vage on purpose) Anyway, I tried to find a start to Niara's story and... here it is.

English is not my first language so please excuse my mistakes...

Niara was sitting on a barstool in a rundown bar, chatting with the barkeeper, a stern-looking, broad-shouldered woman in her fifties. "You shouldn't be here, girl," the lady said, shaking her head. "You should be out there doing your actual job. Instead, you come here almost every other day to go on my nerves." "You'd be bored without me," Niara grinned, looking around the almost empty room. This place, with its dirty windows and mismatched old furniture, located far off in a dark, hidden side alley, was the perfect spot to never be found by her colleagues, so after Niara had stumbled in here by accident the first time, she'd been returning several times a week after that. She didn't mind the gruff barkeeper at all. In fact, she enjoyed talking with the woman. "Like hell," the older woman grumbled. "I don't know why you keep coming here. I'm not gonna serve you alcohol during the day." "That's not what I want," Niara replied while rolling her eyes. They had been over this countless times. "I just like it here… and nobody I know ever comes here, so that's an added bonus." "You mean those fancy marine cadets are too busy doing their actual job to come in here?" The woman snorted. "You should be doing your job too, young lady. Or look for a new one. Can't believe nobody noticed you sneaking off every other day."

"I'm supposed to check cargo at the harbor all week and I'm bored to death already," Niara said with a shrug. "I told those two losers who I'm supposed to be working with that I've been ordered to do something else. If you've got enough family up in the higher marine ranks, they don't question you. Ever." "You can't pull this off forever. You don't like your job, quit and find something new. Or power through it like most people do." "My whole family is a marine family," Niara sighed. "Even my mother was, before she got sick. It's not that easy. Walking away for just another job I don't care about… that's not worth it. Now… if I could actually do what I wanted, then…" "Not one of your pirate stories again." The barkeeper rolled her eyes. "That's a child's dream and you better grow up fast." "Says the lady who owns a bar frequented by pirates," Niara giggled. She didn't feel brushed off by the barkeeper's rough attitude. She just kept on talking because finally, someone cared to listen.

"I wouldn't know if my customers are marines or pirates," the lady replied, slamming her big hands down on the bar counter. "They don't come in here announcing their profession and I know better than asking. As long as they pay for their drinks and don't make trouble, I don't care. And you better not keep running around, telling people this is a pirate bar. On an island with a marine base on it, the word pirate is better not spoken too loudly." Niara looked around. The only other person currently present was some guy at one of the tables who was literally leaning back on his chair, his head thrown back, the hat pulled over his face, sleeping soundly. Or at least that's what it looked like. "Don't worry, I'm not going to give away my hiding spot to my superiors, I'm not that dumb," she said. "As long as I can spend some hours here instead of being under constant supervision with one million rules, I'm good." "You should be under supervision," the barkeeper scoffed. "Pirates! They'd eat someone like you alive." "I can take care of myself," she muttered. After all, her father had made sure all of this children got devil fruit ability to help them climb the marine ranks faster. And her much older siblings all had made names for themselves and were steadily climbing the ranks. Niara, however, had been born much later and had spend the majority of her young life caring for her sick mother. That was one reason for why she had been allowed to enjoy so much freedom without her father watching her every step and making sure she was growing up to become a marine, like he had done with her siblings.

"Pirate's are dangerous," the barkeeper warned her. "I don't know where you got your crazy ideas from, but out there at sea, they're not your fun-loving drinking buddies. They slaughter each other. They slaughter your family members, too. They're out for blood." "Some are," Niara agreed. She wasn't stupid. She grew up with her family's hatred for pirates and with a strong sense of justice being drilled into her from an early age. But she had heard other stories too. And those were the stories she was fascinated with, the adventures she dreamed of, the freedom she longed for. "They all are, one way or another." "They're also families," Niara protested. "Those crews that would go to hell and back for each other, who would go to the end of the world to save their crewmates, who you can laugh and cry with and have amazing adventures with while sailing on the endless blue sea - that's where I want to belong to. I mean… freedom, adventures, family, there's nothing better than that, right?" "There are many things better than that, like a good income and a decent family whose pictures you can't find on wanted posters." The barkeeper rolled her eyes and wiped down the countertop with a clean cloth. "Get yourself together, girl. Those are a child's dreams."

Yes, a child whose much older siblings never gave her the time of day and barely ever showed up at home to see how she was doing. A child whose father was gone with his precious marine family for months on end, leaving said child to struggle to take care of a very sick mother. A child whose only escape was playing make-believe with her village friends and who had watched those friends grow and change and live lives of their own while she was left behind with nothing but dreams that would never come true and a future as a marine she actually dreaded. "Maybe so," she sighed. "But if I can't hold on to them anymore, what do I have left?" "A well paying job if you only ever would care to actually do it, for instance." "Yes, one with so many rules and regulations that I keep getting yelled at for constantly forgetting half of them and people who keep telling me to get my shit together because me being me is just bringing shame to my father's great legacy…" Niara rolled her eyes. It wasn't that she didn't love her family. But even as a child she had always felt like there were worlds between them. And now, without her mother keeping them close, they were drifting apart more and more. "Perhaps you need to work harder then," the barkeeper said, grabbing Niara's glass and firmly putting it away. "Because hiding here is not doing you any good. And believe me, real pirates eat girls like you for breakfast. It's time you move on and grow up, girl." Suddenly Niara felt tired. She knew the brash woman only was looking out for her and she knew that a lot of pirates were simply not good people. But there were other crews out there - and if only… "Perhaps I should go and pretend I have spend all day checking cargo," she muttered while slipping off her barstool. "Try to do actual cargo checking tomorrow," the barkeeper advised.

Rolling her eyes, Niara said her goodbyes and quickly left the bar. The street was dark and dirty and the people hanging around here were not looking too friendly. But Niara wasn't overly worried. She had a devil fruit ability and she also wasn't in marine uniform either. At this time of the day, the people around here weren't that drunk yet, so the chances of getting out of that area safely were pretty high. Behind her, the door opened and the guy that had been sleeping in his chair was walking out, pulling his hat down so his face was hidden. This, too, wasn't unusual behavior around these parts of town. "So," he said. "A marine wanting to be a pirate?" She glanced at him. She couldn't see his face but he didn't even wear a shirt so she figured he probably wasn't a marine. "Being a marine wasn't my choice," she said. "And, just so you know, it's not very polite to pretend to be asleep and listen to other people's conversations." "Are you going to lecture your future pirate friends about their manners, too?" he grinned. "Depends," she replied with a smile. "Who's asking?" "Depends," he replied in the same tone of voice. "What do you have to offer your future pirate crew?" She threw him a sideways glance. Was he offering something, was he just killing time, was he making fun of her? Either way, it was probably not a good idea to reveal her devil fruit power to a complete stranger. "Who even are you?" she wanted to know. "Could be a friend," he said. "Depends on your answers." "So if I tell you I have nothing to offer, you're gonna kill me?" "Oh, slowly and painfully," he laughed. Somehow, she found him funny.

"Keep walking," she said, quickly leading him away from the stares of the few people nearby. She didn't want their attention in the slightest. Unfortunately it was a hot summer day and everyone was outside. Sie turned her back on them, blocking their view, then grabbed the stranger's hand. He looked at her in surprise, then looked down on the tiny flower appearing in the palm of his hand, slowly growing in size. Then he looked back at Niara, eyebrows raised. "So, you plan to attack enemy pirate ships with flower power?" he teased. She growned. "Well, I could wrap you in vines and then drag you to the marine base as a present for my superiors, how does that sound instead?" He threw his head back and laughed and she desperately tried to get a glimpse of his face. "Wouldn't work," he said. "Is that so?" she replied. Sie really wanted to grow some vines and wrap them around him just to get him to stop laughing so badly, but unfortunately there were too many people around. Technically, it wasn't too unusual for a marine to have devil fruit powers, but still, she didn't want them to notice she was more than a random girl sometimes hanging out here at a bar. Instead of an answer, the tiny flower suddenly burst into flames in the middle of his palm and then dissolved into ashes. He blew them away right at her and she wrinkled her nose as the smoke blew in her face. She stared at him. "You're…!" He took off his hat - that hat, how could she have been so blind, it was literally on his wanted poster! He grinned at her but he also seemed to noticed that while people had not seen the little flower growing in the palm of his hand, they had at the very least seen the smoke rising from his hands, if not the flame too. "Listen, flower girl," he said. "If you're still in for that amazing pirate adventure dream of yours, be at the harbor tonight. If you don't show, I'll assume we'll be on opposite sides next time we meet." "Wait - you're serious?" Her heart was beating fast. Was this really it? Her one shot at living her dream? And if so, was she ready to leave everything behind and just trust this man she had just met with her entire future? If she chose to become a pirate, there would be no home or family to ever go back to. It was more likely that she would have to face off against her family members sooner or later - if she even made it that far. There were so many what ifs... But… BUT… this was her ticket out of here, her one shot for freedom - and that stranger was literally Firefist Ace… she would be a fool to turn that offer down. "See you later, - oh yeah, what's your name anyway?" She giggled. "It's Niara," she said, carefully leaving out her family name which would tie her to way too many high ranking marine officers. "See ya later, Nina!" "Ni-A-RA!!" she called after him, but people were coming closer now, looking at them with interest.

Ace disappeared, leaving Niara to look at the curious people as innocently as possible before quickly slipping away, basically running towards marine headquarters. She had a choice to make but she felt so giddy and excited that she knew it wasn't really a choice at all. It was finally time to follow her dream.

I made height comparisons for the crews now as well.

We have the Strawhats pre timeskip:

Law is not on there (as he is not a strawhat) but I love the fact that he is so much taller than Niara. It's not that much of a difference with Neri and Zoro.

Then we have the Cross Guild members + Cordelia because she didn't fit anywhere else yet:

And last but not least we have some of the Revolutionaries:

I originally started to put others like Ivankov on the chart as well but then the rest of the characters were suddenly very very tiny, so I decided only to focus on the five that were featured in the short stories I wrote.

In regards to my new character Mizuki Midori I made a height chart for the marines too:

This morning I was thinking how to get Niara to Marineford and include her in the canon timeline...

Lot of text under the cut (as well as spoilers), so beware.

So last thing we know is Niara was sailing with Ace and his former crew until they somehow split. I'm not sure if Ginny and Niara exist in the same timeline but if so, they might have known each other too but are not close or anything. I don't think Niara would have supported Ginny's decision to join the marines at all. Perhaps to make this interesting for later, they could have been crewmates and then had a falling out over this the last time they saw each other.

Now, Niara and Ace remain close friends until... perhaps Niara has the opportunity to visit the island her mother was born on (because she needs a valid reason to leave the crew). Let's say her mother's family was not keen on Niara's mother marrying Niara's father and they had very little contact, if all, if her mother after that. So Niara shows up, gets to know them and they all like each other and Niara is reminded of her mother so much and for the first time in a long time feels loved by members of her family. Eventually, the crew has to sail on but with a heavy heart, Niara decidedes to stay a little longer. So she and the others part but she and Ace promise each other they will see each other again and that Niara can come back anytime.

Niara's time with her mother's family is great and she gets along especially great with her grandparents who adore her. She stays way too long, knowing that they're old and by the time she will be able to come here again, they might not be around anymore. But she also starts to long for adventures on sea again and also fears that one day her father or siblings could show up here to arrest her. She hasn't gotten a bounty yet but they know what she's been doing, so she is worried.

Niara's grandfather tells her to train her powers better. She has barely scratched the surface of what her devil fruit powers can do! But for her, that only reminds her of her father forcing her to eat the devil fruit and trying to turn her into someone she's not, a logia fruit user set for a navy career, quickly rising to the highest marine ranks. While Niara does train, she still refuses to try and fully awaken her powers, saying this is never what she wanted to become.

Eventually, her grandfather helps her to get onto a ship and she travels to Sabaody with them, ready to join another crew or, better yet, join up with her old one again. But they are no more and Ace is now with Whitebeard and everyone has moved on without her. Niara feels that she, too, has to make a name for herself now and joins a crew in Sabaody.

Long story short, they make it into the new world but get beaten pretty soon and join the ranks of the crew that has beaten them. Niara does make friends there, but her heart is not really in it. The new world is different in so many ways and she realizes that perhaps she does have to train a lot more.

Then she gets the news of Ace's imprisonment and is devastated. Of course she can't march into Impel Down to set him free but she tries to convince her current crew to go to Marineford but they refuse. So Niara splits with them and tries to get there on her own, knowing she has very little chance to archive anything but she can't let it go either.

Marineford happens... Niara is there fighting... I do want Ace to see her being there fighting for him... but... she's not strong enough and eventually, just gets knocked out. Her being there and being recognized earns her her first bounty though. She does get saved and that's when she first meets Luffy. I think I want her to get saved and brought on the Polar Tang when Luffy is taken there in the end, so she can later form a bond with Luffy and meet Law for the first time.

Eventually, while being on Boa Hancock's island, Niara and Luffy bond over their loss and when Luffy makes the decision to meet up with his own crew in two years after everyone has become stronger, he tells Niara she can join too if she wants. Niara takes the opportunity to get some training too and after the timeskip, she joins the strawhat crew.

Her getting to know Law better won't happen until Punk Hazard.

I think it works better if Niara joins after the timeskip while having Neri be with the Strawhat Crew from more or less the beginning.

I guess since I'm doing this OC thing I'm going all out so I answered some OC questions I found (One Piece OCs)

I ended up picking only the questions that fit in their "universe", so there's bits and pieces from all of these questionaires.

How did you come up with the OC’s name? Neri: When I was young there was an australian show about a girl living in the ocean and her name was Neri. I took that and assuming it comes from Nerissa, it's the name of a nymph. Then I took the name Sirena from the Mako Mermaids show and her last name Kaiyo means ocean/sea Kaiyo Neri Sirena therefore sounds like a good name for a mermaid.^^ Niara: I wanted mostly names that could be associated with the ocean since this is a pirate show. Kaito means "the one flying over the sea" and Niara means "bright, clear water". Azura: Nagisa means seashore and Azura means sky blue. Cordelia: Cordelia means daughter of the sea. Yes, I looked up possible ocean themed names for all of them. Lady X and Lady Y don't have names yet. Lady X was called Vilandra in the first draft but I really don't like it. If she ever gets a name, I want it to be a longer one and kind of mysterious sounding... How old are they? (Or approximate age range) Neri: 18 Niara: 18 Azura: 30 Cordelia: 24 Lady X: no age yet but she would be the oldest Lady Y: maybe early twenties?

Do they have any love interest(s)? Neri: Zoro Niara: Law Azura: undefined Cordelia: undefined Lady X: maybe? Lady Y: maybe?

What do they do best? Neri: swimming Niara: generally just having fun with whatever she does Azura: sword fighting Cordelia: flirting, rolling her eyes, sarcasmn Lady X: telling the future Lady Y: I want her to either have a really cool power no one sees coming or a really cool fighting style

What do they hate to do? Neri: Wearing shoes Niara: cleaning, following the rules Azura: wearing cheap clothes, cheap jewelry and cheap everything and being in dirty, messy surroundings Cordelia: dealing with Buggy the Clown (she came across him in one of the stories my friend and I wrote and she did not enjoy it!) Lady X: knowing something bad would happen and not being able to stop it Lady Y: no answer yet

What is one of your OC’s worst memories? Neri: losing her entire family Niara: being forced to join the navy and then leaving her entire family behind to pursue her own dreams of freedom Azura: her parents being killed Cordelia: living in the streets as a kid on her own both Lady X and Lady Y have sad backstories too but they are not developed that much yet

Is their current design the first one? Neri: I think she had green eyes at first but then I decided on brown eyes. Actually, I couldn't decide on a design forever. Niara: Her hair is still long but not as way too long as it was in the first draft. Her hair went from ordinary brown to a lighter/slightly reddish maybe version (but still brown overall) and the newest addition are her freckles. Azura: Pretty much kept her design. Cordelia: Also kept her design. Lady X: I think she was a blonde at first. Black hair was also considered, then white, then grey, now it's maybe a really really pale blonde/maybe pale grey/white... idk something very pale though Lady Y: was still a blonde yesterday, now I'm thinking oooh but I have every haircolor now except red... xD Also, recently I accidentally added a scar on one of her picrews, so now I want her to have scars?

How many sibling does your OC have? Neri: it is mentioned that she had quite a few siblings since I image that fish people clans are quite big? She did not grew up on Fishman Island (because she was created before I started to read the Manga), so this probably was a separate community in the East Blue (where she met the Strawhats after being the only survivor after humans captured her entire family) Niara: I initially started with four or five but reduced them to three later on. At some point, Rear Admiral Hina was turned into an older sister of Niara XD Azura: She's an only child Cordelia: unknown since she doesn't remember anything and was found wandering around on her own, stealing from people as a kid Lady X: unknown, probably an only child Lady Y: unknown

What is the OC’s relationship w/their parents like? Neri: I imagine her bond with her parents was very close. Niara: She was close with her late mother but does not have a good relationship with her father at all. It didn't take him long to put a bounty on her head when he learned that she had become a pirate. Azura: she was close with her parents Cordelia: unknown Lady X: unknown Lady Y: unknown

Do you ever see yourself killing off the OC? Honestly, I never want to kill my OCs. The only one I could see dying is Lady X for noble reasons but it's highly unlikely that I will end up actually killing a character of mine

has there been any part of having this oc (designing, writing, drawing, etc...) that was difficult? Neri: she was the first One Piece OC so creating her was the hardest. I just realized the height differences between Neri and Zoro and Niara and Law... damn those guys are tall. Even Azura, who I consider average height for a woman, would have felt looking up at a skycraper when facing Crocodile in Marineford lol. And Niara's so tiny... especially next to Law... luckily I'm a sucker for height differences hehe

I was asked if all of my One Piece OCs belong in the same universe... and I mean they totally could?

Neri is the first of them to join the strawhats. She joins all the way back in the East Blue when there's still only Luffy, Zoro and Nami.

Niara first meets Luffy at Marineford, gets saved and ends up on Amazon Lily with him, where they bond over [Spoiler] and when Luffy decides his crew should train for two years and they'll all meet up again afterwards, he extends an invitation to Niara which she accepts. So she joins them after the timeskip on Sabaody and travels to Fishmen Island with them.

Azura is a Warlord of the Sea, so they'll meet her eventually. Zoro goes against her in a swordfight and loses. (He will win eventually at some point after the timeskip) Azura's long term is to take down the World Government and she will learn that they're not the final enemy. I think eventually she will form alliances with the Revolutinary Army... perhaps other former warlords and/or Cross Guild? I don't see her joining the Strawhats though. But I can see her starting to support or at least tolerate Luffy at some point.

Cordelia is tricky to answer because I haven't decided yet where she will turn up and who will have taken her in and where she actually comes from. I think she will work at a bar at the beginning but I can absolutely see her joining a pirate crew later on. Maybe she'll join one of the Supernova's crews, who knows.

Ginny will be at Marineford but I don't think she will interact with Luffy there. Maybe with Niara since most likely they've both been in Ace's crew at the same time and if so, they are not friends. Ginny will show up again in Dressrosa where she's forced to compete in the arena and is trying to get her hands on Ace's devil fruit. There she'll meet at the Strawhats, Law and Sabo and the others from the Revolutionary Army and she will be taken in by them.

And Ellaria will mostly interact with the Revolutionary Army and the people they come in contact with, perhaps the Strawhats too. There will be a time when she's doing her own thing too but that's still undecided. Anyway, she's not going to be a Strawhat either.

I was recently thinking of adding a marine, but... I already have six OCs, so maybe that should be enough...
