Clear Canvas
For @kagamiappreciationweek2020 day 2 for the prompt “Arts”
Tumblr media
Kagami stares at the canvas in front of her, it’s not often she gets to revel in the fact that it’s clear.
Clear of paint or sketches she uses to guide herself on the piece she’s creating. It’s blank, a way of showing that Kagami is out of ideas.
Maybe if she stares hard enough her hand will miraculously lift itself up, chose a colour and start painting.
Or maybe a sketch will randomly appear if she thinks hard enough.
It’s weird, the ideas are usually flowing through her mind, taking up every inch of the canvas, lines and waves cross with serpents and daggers.
But today it stays blank, it’s ironic because she’s actually quite clear headed today. Maybe that’s why?
Whatever it is, Kagami doesn’t like it. No, she despises the clear canvas in front of her, the teen wanted it to be full of life, not a blank slate.
It stays there in the corner of her room, just for a few more days until she decides to splatter paint all over it when she’s frustrated.
After all, it was pretty much just a reminder that she was a blank slate. Just a pawn in her mother’s game.
But when the colours dried and Kagami turns the canvas in a certain way. She’s sure she can make out something new, not waves or lines.
Wings.
Maybe this was a sign?!
Kagami was going to finally spread her wings and soar.

Tales of Bloody Bug and Chat Noir - Chapter 23 - Guitar Villain
Beginning || Previous || Next
“Woah, Chloe, you’re hosting another party?” Adrien asked.
“That’s right, Adrikins. I had some fun with that itty bitty get together, so why not do another one?” Chloe said.
“And with it being December and the holidays around the corner, we thought it would be fun to have a big Christmas party and even host a secret Santa event for anyone interested. It’s going to be so much fun,” Sabrina cheered.
“Plus, it gives us more time to properly plan something instead of that slapped together mess last week.”
“And we’re going to try to get things we couldn’t really on short notice. I know we’re considering hiring Jagged Stone or XY for the entertainment.”
“No XY. Bl-… I mean, Alix, doesn’t like XY,” Chloe remarked.
“But, Chloe, with Jagged Stone’s newest concert kicking off in January, he may not be available,” Sabrina pointed out.
            “Fine, but still no XY.”
“Chloe, I have a question. Are you throwing this party as an excuse to get close to Alix?” Adrien asked.
Chloe winced and ducked her head. “That’s one of the reasons.”
“You don’t have to throw these parties just to get near Alix. You can just talk to her. I know she looks like she’ll tear your head off, but she’s actually really chill,” Adrien explained.
“She’s only that way if she tolerates you. Have you not been paying attention to her attitude towards everyone else this past week?” Kagami countered.
“She’s just… not in a good place. Something happened that sent her spiraling, and now she just… doesn’t want to talk,” Adrien explained.
“Why bother not talking? Doesn’t she know not talking is worse?” Sabrina asked.
“She does, and she told me she just wants to feel the weight of everything she’s done. She said she doesn’t want to run from them anymore but isn’t ready to talk just yet.”
Sabrina and Chloe exchanged glances. Chloe opened her mouth, then shut it and curled her nose. She turned as Marinette, Alya, Rose, Juleka, and Mylene approached them.
“Ugh, I thought I smelled the poor. Let’s go, Sabrina,” Chloe hissed.
Chloe and Sabrina left. Kagami got up and stood between Adrien and the girls.
“What do you all want?” Kagami demanded.
“We have an invitation for Adrien for a Christmas party we’re planning,” Marinette said.
Kagami held out her hand. Marinette looked at the girls hesitantly before she put the invitation in Kagami’s hand. Kagami took the invitation and tore it up, letting the shreds fall to the ground.
“Hey! Why would you do that?” Alya demanded.
“Adrien already has prior plans for Christmas than your pitiful attempts of a party.”
“That doesn’t mean you have to be rude about it!”
“And you don’t have to sit here still, fighting with me like it’ll get you somewhere. He’s not going to your crummy party, end of discussion. Leave. Now.”
Alya snarled, grabbed Marinette’s hand, and left with the girls. Kagami returned to the bench next to Adrien.
“Thanks, Kagami, but you don’t have to be so harsh.”
“I’ve been asked to keep the pigtail girl and the brunette away from you. Your father’s orders.”
“I know, and I appreciate it, if not still surprised Father cared, even if a little. But you can be a little-.”
“Would you give this speech to Alix?” Kagami interrupted.
“Well, I did when I first met her, before I got to know her.”
“Then stop now. Her and I are one and the same.”
Anger struck Adrien. “No, you’re not the same. You could never be what Alix is.”
“Adrien, I’m not blind. I can see that she and I are the same.”
“No, you’re not. She’s her own person. Compassionate, harsh, caring, angry, considerate, rude, brave, chaotic, and so much more. She’s so much more than a mere statue that’s blindly following orders because that’s what our parents want.”
Kagami sneered and opened her mouth but was cut off when Nino ran up to them.
“Dude, did you see the news about Jagged Stone?” Nino asked.
            Adrien shook his head.
Nino pulled out his phone and showed Adrien. “Jagged Stone’s concert and tour was hijacked by XY.”
Adrien raised a brow as he read the article. Bob Roth, the agent of Jagged Stone, announced that Jagged Stone’s new tour had been cancelled for XY’s first official tour after XY’s first album knocked Jagged Stone out of the number one spot.
“What the-? What about Jagged Stone’s concert for Bloody Bug and Chat Noir?” Adrien asked.
Nino shrugged. “It’s been taken over by XY as well. Probably for the best.”
“The best? Do you like XY’s stuff?”
“Yeah, dude. It’s no insult to Jagged Stone, but XY is just better.”
“Uh, right. Hey, have you seen Alix?”
“She’s up in our homeroom class with her head on the desk. I don’t think she left that spot since the lunch bell.”
Adrien ran upstairs to their homeroom class to see Alix still in the same spot. He headed inside and sat at Chloe’s desk.
“Alix? We may have an issue.”
Alix sighed and lifted her head, so her chin rested on the desk. “What happened?”
“I just saw on the news that Jagged Stone’s concert for you know who has been cancelled in favor of one held by XY. And last I heard from Chloe, Jagged Stone had checked into Le Grand Paris a couple days ago.”
“Oh, fuck us. Is XY or that idiot agent here in Paris too?”
            “I don’t know.”
Alix sighed. “Alright. Well, keep an eye on the news in case-.”
Adrien’s phone buzzed. He looked down to see a new message from Nino. He opened it and saw a live interview from XY, who was at the news station. He pressed play as he and Alix watched XY trash Jagged Stone calling him a has-been, Ragged Stone, and old school.
“Fucking punk ass bitch,” Alix hissed.
“How long do you think before Jagged is akumatized?”
“However long, it’s going to be today.”
            “What should we do?”
“I’ll go keep an eye out. I’ll message you when he’s been akumatized.”
“Wait, you aren’t ditching, are you?”
“It’s not ditching when you have a solid excuse and a dad that’ll raise hell over it. I’ll be in touch.”
Alix stood and headed out of the classroom. Kagami stepped inside after Alix left.
            “How did your talk go?”
“It went well. Thank you for staying outside.”
“I have no reason to fear Alix. You’re in good hands with her.”
“Really? I figured my father would have told you otherwise.”
            “He did.”
            “Then why-?”
“Because I am my own person too, Adrien. I can make my own judgements that differ from my orders.”
Adrien flinched at Kagami’s words. He opened his mouth but was cut off by the bell. They took their seats and started the second half of their day until Mr. Damocles ran in before the bell.
“Mr. Damocles? Is everything alright?” Miss Bustier asked.
“Everyone, get to shelter! A dragon has been spotted flying over Paris with a guitar villain riding it.”
Adrien pursed his lips. He pulled out his phone to see a message from Alix about the dragon, Jagged Stone being akumatized, and that the dragon was hers to deal with. She also wished him luck getting away from Kagami and transforming.
Frustration gnawed at Adrien as he puzzled over how to get away from Kagami as they were ushered from the classroom. They headed to the gym when a roar shattered the relative silence. The earth shook violently as everyone turned to see the dragon and Bloody Bug. He watched Bloody Bug remove her yo-yo from the dragon’s muzzle and ensnared its wings before she jumped down in front of it.
Adrien stepped back to make his way to a bathroom when Kagami grabbed his arm. He cursed silently as she pulled him aside while everyone watched Bloody Bug’s fight with the dragon.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Kagami demanded.
“I… I was going to the bathroom.”
“At a time like this? Do you want to die?”
Adrien sucked in a breath and sighed. “Kagami, I can’t tell you. Not now. I don’t feel I can trust you completely. And, it’s wrong of me to ask this, but I need you to trust that I’ll be safe. I need you to trust in me.”
“You expect me to put my full trust in you when you won’t do the same for me?”
            “Yes.”
“And why would I do that?”
“Because you said it yourself. You are your own person, Kagami. You are capable of making your own judgments that aren’t what our parents have demanded of you. I understand the need and want to follow their rules, to constantly have their approval, but sometimes it’s not worth it. Especially when blood means nothing more than obligation and not genuine connection.”
            “I-.”
“Please. I want to trust you. I want to share this with you to make our lives easier, but I can’t yet. I agree with another person that I don’t know that once you know, you won’t rat me out. I know I’m asking the world for you to trust me when I don’t trust you, but if you knew, you’d understand. At least, I hope you would.”
Kagami frowned, then sighed. “Fine. I’ll trust you. But! If I find you hurt in any way, I won’t trust you ever again.”
            “Thank you, Kagami.”
“Just… go, before I change my mind.”
Adrien ran to the nearest bathroom and transformed into Chat Noir. He slipped out a window, climbed up onto the roof, and jumped down onto the dragon’s head. Bloody Bug jumped back and glared at him.
“Where’s Jagged Stone?” Chat Noir asked.
“Last I saw Guitar Villain was on his way to find XY, wherever that little bitch is at. He’s probably still looking without his pet to help him. Isn’t that right you big scaly bastard.”
Chat Noir nodded and looked up. He spotted Gallic Chick, Porcelet, and Carapace on the roof. “Gallic Chick, Porcelet! You two are with me! Carapace, give Bug an arena to fight in!”
Chat Noir leapt up as Bloody Bug used her Lucky Charm. He watched from the roof as she threw up a mic to Carapace as a turtle shell dome covered over her and the dragon. Carapace took the mic and commentated her fight with the dragon. He smiled and headed off with Gallic Chick and Porcelet.
“Gallic Chick, can you use Sublimation to track Guitar Villain or XY?” Chat Noir asked.
Gallic Chick nodded. She used Sublimation and gained the power of tracking. A glowing trail materialized. They followed it to the News Station up to the room where XY was being interviewed. They arrived as Guitar Villain had XY and Bob Roth captured.
“Well, it’s about time!” Bob Roth yelled.
Guitar Villain turned and smiled. “Look who has arrived. Ready to join my fan club, heroes?”
“Come rock our worlds, Jagged,” Chat Noir remarked.
            “The name’s Guitar Vil-.”
Porcelet ran up to Guitar Villain and held out her arms. “Gift!”
A pink sphere materialized in front of Guitar Villain. He slumped as he stared into the orb. Porcelet smiled, took Guitar Villain’s guitar, and trotted over to Chat Noir.
“Well, that was anti-climactic,” Chat Noir mumbled.
“It’s all about efficiency, Chat Noir. The faster we take down the villains, the better we can showcase our efficiency and that the people can trust and depend on us,” Porcelet explained.
Chat Noir tilted his head, then smiled. “You and Bug have similar approaches to this. I like that.”
Porcelet’s eyes lit up as she beamed. Chat Noir patted her head, took the guitar, and smashed it against the ground. The Akuma flew up as he used Cataclysm and destroyed it. Guitar Villain reverted to Jagged Stone as he looked around.
“What the-? How did I end up here?” Jagged Stone asked.
Chat Noir moved and helped Jagged Stone up. “Gallic Chick, Porcelet, you two can head back. I’ll handle things from here.”
“If I may, could I stay a little longer. I would love to see this part,” Porcelet asked.
Chat Noir nodded and turned to Jagged Stone. “Jagged, you were akumatized. What happened?”
“What happened? What happened? This pompous, money hungry reaper of music and the little perfume ad want to toss me aside. They stole my concert and my tour dedicated to you and Bloody Bug!” Jagged Stone yelled.
“You’re old news, Jagged. The heroes don’t-,” Bob Roth started.
“I’d love to disappoint, but Bloody Bug wouldn't show up to an XY concert,” Gallic Chick butted in.
“What?” Bob Roth and XY yelled.
“That’s right. Bug hates XY’s music but loves Jagged’s. Well, I know she loves metal and rock,” Chat Noir added.
“See? Now, give me back my tour and concert!” Jagged Stone demanded.
“Why would I-?” Bob Roth began.
“Think of the money,” Gallic Chick interrupted.
            “You have my attention.”
“Picture it. The heroes and saviors of Paris, frontline against their dastardly enemy with rock legend, Jagged Stone. The merchandise, the photo shoots, magazine articles, interviews, everything! You already have the whole city thrilled at the prospect of anything dedicated to their heroes. Why not make a profit off this like the other business tycoons in this city? Or, you can stick to your silly, one-time at the top of the charts loser here and miss out on such a lucrative opportunity. Your choice,” Gallic Chick offered.
Bob Roth hummed. “You’re smarter than your colleagues, rooster girl. Very well, I’ll agree, but none of you get any of the profit from sales.”
“Fine by me. I don’t need any of your frivolous profits,” Gallic Chick remarked.
“Same here and for Bug,” Chat Noir said.
“Money doesn’t bring me any joy. All I need is my bestie,” Porcelet chimed.
Gallic Chick smiled and hugged Porcelet.
“Oh, and Carapace should be fine, but any events that need a DJ, he gets to be the DJ,” Chat Noir added.
“Deal and deal. Alright, Jagged, you get your concert and tour back,” Bob Roth announced.
“Awesome! Rock and roll, baby! Hey, heroes, let’s get a picture!”
Chat Noir, Gallic Chick, and Porcelet nodded and took a few pictures with Jagged Stone before they headed out back to school. Chat Noir slipped back into the bathroom and de-transformed before he headed in search of Kagami. He looked around the school, but it was empty. He headed outside to find everyone heading out or waiting for their rides. Kagami stood near the road with both their things.
            “Kagami!” Adrien called.
Kagami turned as Adrien approached her. “You’re in one piece. Good. I can trust you with whatever it is you’re doing.”
“Thank you. I’m sorry to ask so much of you, but I just can’t trust this to anyone.”
“It means that much to you?”
“Yes. I finally get to be free. I’m not trapped in a life forced on me. I get to be out with friends and so much more. It’s the life I dreamed of, and now that I have it, I’m not letting it go. If I need to, I will fight everyone for it, even you, but I don’t want to do that.”
            “You don’t?”
“No. I don’t like that you’re forced to babysit me. I would like us to be friends, but not like how our parents want it. I want to know you, hang out as I would with Chloe, Nino, or Alix, and all that. I just want to be able to enjoy each other’s company without the expectations of our parents. What about you?”
            “I… don’t know.”
            “What do you mean?”
“Your culture is not mine, Adrien. I must always respect my mother. She sacrificed so much for me and the very least I can do is give her my undying loyalty. After all, she’s the reason I’m allowed to live. The only way to repay such a gift and sacrifice is to give yourself to them.”
“Kagami, I was told something that resonated with me after my father, well, blamed me for getting assaulted. The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb. Just because someone is responsible for bringing you into this world, you don’t owe them anything.”
Kagami smiled. “It’s a nice thought, but I couldn’t. My mother is my life. My moves are also hers and that’s just the way it is.”
Adrien sighed. He stood in silence with Kagami as his ride showed up.
            “I’ll see you tomorrow, Adrien.”
            “Yeah. See you tomorrow.”

BETTER | Kagami x gn reader !!
yeah this is just really fluffy…I love him so much <33 no content warnings, exchanges of I love yous tho. enjoy y’all 🤭-🛼ro
You listened intently to the sound of rain pattering against the window mixed with the shallow breaths of your boyfriend, Kagami. You worked his shoulders skillfully, releasing the tension and knots in his muscles. You had done this for him many times. He didn’t take as good of care of himself as he should and until you came along, he’d never even had a massage. It's a miracle he hadn’t turned to stone with how stiff his shoulders were.
“That any better?” you asked, pulling your hands away from his shoulders to instead crack your fingers. He nodded, “much better, thank you” he sounded tired. “ ‘m glad” you said, standing up from the side of his bed, in favour of moving to the head of the bed, propping yourself up against the pillows. You opened your arms, holding them out asking silently for him to lay with you. And he did. Kagami laid his head against your chest, wrapping his arms around your waist. He slipped his hands under the back of your shirt, and wrapped your legs together, finding comfort in the skin to skin contact.
The two of you stayed like that for a while, slow deep breaths, enjoying the sound of rain and each other's breathing. Kagami listened to the beating of your heart, finding himself focusing on its calming, consistent pattern.
Kagami and yourself alike, treasured days like these. When it was just the two of you, relaxing and finding comfort in one another's presence. It was hard to hang out during the school week, you only had a few classes with each other, and Kagami had practice nearly everyday of the week. The only proper time you had together was on the weekends. That's when Kagami could slow down, relax and recharge. Though he still often practiced on the weekends. He never gave himself a break.
That's where you come in. You saw how much he overworks himself, and you make Kagami take breaks to rest. If you didn’t, he’d never rest.
You look down at him, smiling at how content he looks. His eyes closed, face tucked safely into your chest. Even though he overworks himself so much, you can’t help but love his dedication and passion for basketball. He was so determined to win, so dedicated to getting better. You admired him for it, working so hard.
Suddenly, Kagami opened his eyes and looked up at you. You bit your lip, embarrassed that he caught you staring. But as you looked into his eyes, and your embarrassment dissipated. Now, you could only feel the warmth and extreme fondness that Kagami's eyes held for you. You could only smile, not feeling the need to hide from or be embarrassed under his gaze.
Kagami propped his chin up on your chest, looking into your eyes. Eyes that held no judgement against him, eyes that have seen him in his most vulnerable states. Eyes that looked at him with such love and care sometimes it felt like too much to handle.
You watched him chew his lip a little, he was nervous about something, but what? Before your mind could conjure up any pesky anxious thoughts, he spoke. “Y/N...I know you know this but I feel like I don’t say it enough, so I just wanna let you know with my own voice, that I really, really appreciate how much you do for me. You give me massages, and make me meals, you bring me food during school, you make me take breaks and care for me when I'm sick. I know I'm not super great with emotions or anything, but I really want you to know that I'm so thankful to have you in my life, especially as my partner. I couldn’t ask for anyone better, so know that I really, really love you a lot and in the years I've known you, you’ve made me so happy. Thank you.”
You just stared, tears pricking your eyes. You never expected him to just...say that. He struggles with expressing how he feels, so something so forward and raw must have taken a lot of time for him to be ready to do. You felt a tear slip, so proud of him for being able to say that, and so happy and touched by what he said.
“I-I didn’t mean to make you cry i’m sorry really I-” you flicked his forehead, effectively cutting him off. You sniffled and wiped your eyes. “I’m not sad, just...I really love you too. I do those things because I love you, you deserve them...I’m just a little shocked is all, I think I’m still processing it” you laughed with a close eyed smile. The smile Kagami would give anything to see all the time. At the end of the day, neither of you would like to be in anyone else's arms, you're both happy and content, more than content, with being here with each other. You were where you were meant to be.

Kagami and Kuroko decided they wanted to “help” me with my animation but they’re more so using my space as their personal playground... At least Kuroko seems to appreciate some part of what I’m doing.
(This week was a lot more hectic than I anticipated so I wasn't able to get much progress done on my animation/be able to do much drawing so I'm hoping next week I can get a bit more done. But I wanted to give you all a little something for being so patient with me so here you go!)

Evil Author Day!
February 15th is an opportunity for authors to be a little bit (or a lotta bit) evil by sharing snippets from WIPs, idea files, etc., with the understanding that there is NO GUARANTEE WHATSOEVER that these stories will ever be completed.
Read at your own risk!
WIP Title: Mikoto the Dragon
On the first of June, Uchiha Shiho carefully lowered herself to the ground and winced at the tenseness of her back muscles.
It was a balmy day, without a wisp of cloud but tempered a little by the stirring of the breeze coming off the nearby coast. They were close to the sea now, only a few days out from Uzushio territory, and Shiho was confident that they'd get there before it was too late for dinner. Not that time had ever stopped her stomach.
"Are you alright?" Kagami, her lovely - but sensitive - husband asked for the tenth time in as many minutes. "You're looking a little flushed, and-"
"Shunsuke-kun is wandering off," Shiho interrupted with all her patience. Which, honestly, wasn't too much with her due-date looming in three weeks' time.
Kagami hissed a breath, chakra fluttering as a shadow clone scampered off in the direction of their wayward son - who had taken to walking with a bit too much enthusiasm and a strange talent for escaping his harness - before crouching down to dig the sealed waterskins from Shiho’s abandoned bag. Which she had carried herself, because she was a Jounin even when pregnant (and Kagami had put absolutely everything in a seal anyway so the weight was barely anything).
They were taking a risk with travelling this close to her due date but Shiho had been adamant that they arrived in Uzushio in time for the birth of Arashi’s fourth child; his three sons were extremely excited, since the age gap was over ten years and they were hoping for a girl, and the due dates had lined up so nicely with Shiho’s own pregnancy. Shunsuke had been born in Uzushio, after all, when Shiho’s first time had all but crippled her with nausea so bad that she’d demanded that Kagami stay with her in Uzushio for the final two months. As it was, they were pushing it a little closer than Kagami was comfortable with, this time around.
"I'm fine," Shiho belatedly replied, realising that Kagami was absolutely waiting for an answer and holding the water bottle hostage until she responded. "It's just a lot of weight on the front, you know?" Shiho paused before the rim could touch her mouth, mood souring at the reminder. "Of course, you don't actually know what I'm talking about… I’m expected to carry your child for nine months and the Clan thinks that gives you the right to name them? Where is the appreciation, Kagami?"
Kagami had a lot of practice defending himself on this particular front. "Honey, you named Shunsuke-kun and we both picked the options this time around. You know I'd take my turn to carry the bump if I could-"
"They kick all the time," Shiho shot out. She leaned back on her hands, bringing her knees up to brace the weight better. The grit bit into her hands, face wrinkled in disgruntlement, and her loose, comfortable travel clothes dampened with sweat. Still, under the yellow and green leaves of the grove surrounding them, she made a lovely picture.
Kagami sighed a little, lovesick fondness warring with resignation. "In the middle of the night," he supplied.
"In the middle of the night! I can't lie back any more, my spine is killing me…"
"We bought the lounging chair for this reason."
From between the lines of trees, Kagami’s clone returned with a disgruntled, fussy captive. Shunsuke’s hat was knocked asque and, every time the clone tried to fix it, the one-and-a-half year old batted at it again.
"I feel sick and aching, I genuinely forgot how intense everything feels from the first time," Shiho continued to lament. Kagami took pity and plucked a nearby piece of fruit for her, which she graciously accepted and immediately bit into. "They press so heavily down on me and my legs are really aching."
Kagami felt his own brows furrow at that. "Have we been going too fast, honey? We should be travelling however is best for you, if you want to rest for the final stretch then-"
"I’m fine," Shiho laughed abruptly, expression clearing like smoke in a swift wind. "You fussy, dear man! It's just a little intense, I must've not been keeping as active before this as I thought. My pain tolerance is high, you know," she wagged a finger teasingly and Kagami's mouth curved upwards despite himself. "This body is a machine… and it's currently working on a baby!"
Kagami leaned up and accepted his son from the clone, which then set off to secure the perimeter. They'd been out of war for over nine years now - nine years since… well, since Tobirama-sensei had died - and the roads were as peaceful as they'd ever been.
But caution was instilled in their bones and Kagami would always choose safety over not being able to be sorry (and being the one to survive an attack was the cruellest fate).
"But you've just said you're in pain," Kagami sighed. "I wish you'd told me sooner."
"I'm telling you now…"
Shiho played politicians, civilians and fellow Shinobi alike like fiddles  but, around Kagami, she’d never been one to hold her tongue. It was the annoying lining between her brutal honesty and her determination to never show weakness that meant that she complained about trivial things that didn't bother her too much but would never breathe a word if something affected her more deeply.
"Let's have a break for a bit," Kagami suggested. Now wasn't the time to pick a fight and it wouldn't have been worth it anyway. He turned his face down to catch Shunsuke’s swinted eyes. "You want to see the trees, hm? Hide and seek?"
The toddler understood that well enough - it was nothing more complicated than saying ‘no’ or ‘wait’ but those were mysteriously beyond Shunsuke’s comprehension - and starting squirming excitedly until Kagami relented and let his feet touch the ground.
Shunsuke was off like a rabbit. A very slow and possibly drunk rabbit.
Kagami’s own knees ached a bit as he straightened and trotted off after his son. Surely they weren't supposed to start feeling old in their twenties, right?
Shiho waved him off with a huff of amusement, something in her face expressing ‘better you than me in this heat’, and she propped herself against the nearest trunk instead. The fruit was delicious, sweet and sticky and just on the cusp of overripeness. She ate two more, polishing off her waterskin and using the last few drops in an attempt to wash the syrup from her fingers with limited success.
Kagami - loudly wondering where the imp had escaped to - and Shunsuke - squealing delightedly - remained in range but just hidden amongst the rows of trees surrounding Shiho's spot. She closed her eyes, lids flushed red and pink against the bright sunlight, and tried to unwind as she listened.
"Where is he?" Kagami called, a playful edge to his voice that his enemies would never think him capable of. His teammates and friends would definitely know better. "Where is the little monster?"
Shunsuke’s responding giggle was addictive, infectious. Shiho’s flattened mouth relaxed into a smile.
Lulling herself into restfulness didn't really work. Every time Shunsuke screamed, even when clearly with joy, Shiho’s pulse jack-rabbited in response. Eventually, she realised her shoulders were drawn up tight and her jaw had been clenching itself. Her sandals had carved grooves in the dried earth and, with a kind of distant recognition, Shiho realised she’d been bracing down on her legs for quite a while. In fact, her thighs had begun to ache even more as time crawled by, until it was worse than training or a bad period, and the next thing she knew she was exhaling noisily through her mouth. The dragging sensation worsened, extending up her hips and the mound of her belly, right before a wet sensation blossomed between her open legs.
"Oh Kami," Shiho breathed, the words sounding half way to hysterical laughter.
"Where… aha! There he is!"
"Kagami!" Shiho shouted, too surprised to register the irony of her timing. "The baby's coming!"
Uchiha Mikoto was born at sunset, three weeks early on the road to Uzushio, and in the middle of a plum tree orchard.
"I feel like she did this on purpose," Shiho laughed with the healer, brought from Uzushio by one of Kagami's larger crows and having arrived just in time to help with the actual birth.
Behind them, the shining golden sun slowly sank into the water, waves washed as crimson as the sky and glittering as the sea churned against the rocks.
"I think you might be right," Kagami agreed, and neither were any the wiser.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
When Mikoto was ten, Uzushio was besieged and, within mere hours, swallowed by the sea.
It took her mother with it. Her father, Ambassador Uchiha Kagami, was slaughtered by enemy nin as he tried to reach Konoha for emergency aid. His body was found, unrecognisable, and Mikoto and Shunsuke had very little of either of their parents to burn on the ceremonial pyre.
Kushina lost her home, her people and culture. Konoha was shocked to its core, the reality that Uzushio - brilliant, ancient Uzushio that had sealwork so old than none alive could read it anymore and fuinjutsu masters who could rewrite reality, Uzushio that was their sister-Village and Uzushio that had been torn to pieces in a single night - was gone. It was their shame, the spiral that appeared on the arm of all Konohan uniforms, and the coldest of comforts.
Nothing could fix what had been done.
Konoha had failed, Uzushio had fallen, and Konoha wasn't strong enough to retaliate.
Mikoto didn't think Kushina would ever forgive the Sandaime for not being able to protect Uzushio… or to avenge it.
(She knew she never would.)
And the world was a totally different place afterwards.
Happy Evil Day!

Okay but imagine!
Kuroko no Basket, ten years had passed since Kagami went to America. Kuroko keeps contact with all the Miracles and his Seirin teammates, but with everyone's schedules being so vastly different, it was far and in between that he had the chance of hanging out with anyone in person, let alone multiple people at the same time. Kagami and Aomine visit whenever their respective pro Basketball teams give them time off (after the season is over) and crash with him for like a month, but they never have it at the same time; Momoi, as Aomine's pro team current manager, has even less freedom, but she calls weekly. Midoriya visits once per month without fail to personally check in Kuroko and share a home cooked meal, but is otherwise too preoccupied with his busy doctor schedule. Kise, flying all over the world as one of the most successful model slash actor, tends to drop in unannounced at random times, hog Kuroko's attention for however long he stays (usually a day or two) and then off he goes to catch his next flight. Murasakibara, too lazy to make the trip often, coming over for special occasions and sending sweets every other Monday for Kuroko to enjoy during the week. Akashi, always the most organized, calls Kuroko to arrange dinners or lunches whenever his schedule allows it, even when he has to drive four or five hours to get to Kuroko or send his driver to pick him up.
And Kuroko, regular, low profile, as normal as one can be Kuroko, goes about his life, expecting this little visits like luxuries he never takes for granted, enjoying the quiet of being alone when he is but appreciating everyone's efforts to keep close contact by making as much time on his day to day as his friends request. Even if it leaves him no time to pursue any kind of romantic relationship, what with all his friends demanding attention when he's out on dates or calling him when he's considering hanging out at a bar on Friday nights to see what happens.
He's content. Loves his friends, loves the kindergarten class he teaches, loves his pets (Nigou being the proud father of two adorable puppies). Loves his life. He doesn't need to think about messy things like romance- doesn't have time for it.
Until one morning, when he's watching over his class during recess, and he spots Kise on the other side of the playground fence, waving at him. Normal, except- Aomine is there too, out of nowhere, fly-kicking Kise to the ground, screaming something about... Cheating?
And - that's Midorima, white coat on disarray, chiding them both?
He wants to ask what prompted this surprise group reunion, but recess is over, and he figured if they are at his school, they'll wait until he's out, so he returns with his class.
Except, when he clocks out, theres even more people waiting by the curb. Murasakibara munching on something, but with his hair in a ponytail as he does whenever he's serious. Momoi crying, something about rivalry? Akashi is there too, spinning something shiny and sharp looking on his fingers, a clear threat to the cowering Kise and Aomine.
Kuroko is about to cross the street to ask them what's going on (happy, so happy to see everyone togheter like they rarely get the chance to be anymore) when a car swerves in, wheels screeching as it stops right between Kuroko and the generation of miracles.
The window rolls down. It's Kagami, screaming at Kuroko to get in. He can't even blink before the backseat door opens, and he's dragged into the car by- Ogiwara?!
The car speeds off the moment he's in, and he can hear the indignant screams of the Miracles behind them before they are too far to be heard.
"We will take you somewhere safe, don't worry" Shige promises.
Kuroko hasn't been this confused in his entire life.
"What's going on?" He demands. He sees Kagami wince in the review mirror.
Shige hugs him, cuddled in the backseat, and answers.
"As of today, gay marriage is officially legal in Japan."
...
...
...
Oh.
Oh.
"Hit the gas, Kagami-kun. Please."
"Roger that."

Note
Do you have plans to do a month this year? I also couldn’t get the time to come up with stuff for Kagami appreciation week last November but I’m doing my best to set one up this year, was curious if you were also working on something.
I really want to but time and stuff have been kicking my butt!
If you have any ideas I would love to hear them!
