stray kids as ex boyfriends

thank you for requesting! please like and reblog if you enjoy <3
Tumblr media
bangchan
the friendly one
this is purely depending on circumstance because if you hurt him or any of his members in any way he's literally cutting you off and out of his life
but that is if the situation is severe
most of the time he likes ending on good, mutual terms if possible. he knows things aren't going to be completely the same or aren't going to be particularly smooth but he's willing to work past that
especially if you have been a good friend before dating each other
so he will make an effort to talk to you at social events if you're in the same friendship group. just a casual catch-up to see how you are doing
it might be hard seeing you without being able to be the same touchy, loving way he's used to. he feels he has to hold himself back quite a lot
i can see him being hurt if you have moved on and are in another relationship and he isn't
minho
the messy one
feelings are... complicated
and minho is too
he's a very intricately formed human being, filled with unpredictabilities and chaos, good and bad.
minho as an ex can be messy. you'll see him sometimes during social gatherings; he will avoid you most of the time, but occasionally interact with you as if you're his best friend
he'll be sarcastic and make snide remarks with that shit-eating grin on his face
sometimes he'll lure you back into his life, his heart
other times he wants to forget he's even known you
you guys are on and off and on again. the wannabe ross and rachel, if you will
but all of the craziness boils down to the fact that he misses you, more than he expected
and the only way to fill the hole in his heart that you left him is by chasing what you had together
changbin
the self-improvement one
changbin tries to move on as quickly as possible
he thinks it's healthier that way: no point in dwelling in the past when he knew he wasn't going to turn back to you
he needed to put the past behind him and focus on himself
which means a lot more working out, more than he had ever done before
eating healthier, going out more and with different people, making sure he had enough rest
his friends were worried, at first, that he would over-do it, perhaps burning himself out in order to deflect the feelings of loss you left him
but he's never felt better as he looks ahead rather than dwelling on what once was
still, there are moments, perhaps when he is alone, where he catches himself missing you. your laugh, your smile, your body to hold at night. yeah, he missed that a lot...
hyunjin
the one who's still in love
it would be hard for hyunjin to move on
whether you hurt him, or he hurt you, or you both end on good circumstances, he's not ready to leave you
life without you? well, up until now he hasn't even begun to imagine life without you. and why should he? he thought you'd be together forever
so now he's devastated, trying to forget you when really you never left his mind
oh and he'd write poetry about. lots and lots of poems about the heartbreak and the longing and everything in between. he's a wistful guy, and it's a way of coping with the loss of you
but it's not very... 'coping' of him. coping would require him slowly but surely moving on
but he doesn't do that
no. instead, he holds on to the memory of you and what could've been.
jisung
the one who keeps coming back
he knows he shouldn't, but he can't help it
oh he tries, but soon he finds himself staring at your number on his phone screen, tempted to drop you a text or even, at times, call you
it's weird. he thought he'd be fine after the breakup. he thought he would be able to have his moment to grieve and then move on
but if that was the case... why was he still thinking about you?
that's a question that tortured his mind to no end because he had absolutely no answer for it
he couldn't like deeper inside himself to realise he still, ultimately, has feelings for you
and so he always ends up coming back into your life, usually by accident
he calls it manifesting but is it really manifesting if its at the worst moments?
like when he bumped into at the supermarket, running on 0 hrs of sleep with eye bags bigger than his eyes. yeah, that wasn't a good day
but any chance he runs into you, there is a flicker of hope you could end up back together with him. so he will take all the chances life throws at him
felix
the sensitive one
similar to hyunjin only, perhaps, less severe
he cries over you often
and everything seems to remind him of you
sometimes he is okay. sometimes he is really okay. perhaps too okay. the members would look at him in surprise as he woke up one day, bubbly as ever. it's as if he hasn't been crying the whole week at all. nope. he's a new man now. and when he looks in the mirror, he gives himself a smile and a nod. "today is a new day and i'm happy."
and then a small thing will set him off all over again
perhaps he will find one of your hoodies that you lent him one night when he was cold. and he kept it because it smelt like you
but now, seeing this makes all his newfound positivity dissolve instantly. soon, he was grabbing the material of your hoodie and stuffing his face into it, sobbing his heart out
seungmin
the nonchalant one
he's the definition of unbothered
of course, it hurt at first to have to leave you, but it will all depend on the circumstances of the breakup
if you guys left each other on bad terms, he'd be a lot more bitter about it. he will most likely ignore you and make every attempt not to run into you because he just doesn't need that in his life
but if you guys are on good terms he is more likely to get over it quicker. that way, he isn't dwelling on the bad feelings and being wrapped up in his own negativity
rather, he has left that all behind and tried to be productive, focusing on himself
that way, if he happens to run into you again, he would probably feel indifferent
there is a sparkle of feeling that he misses. the feeling of familiarity that only you bring
but he hopes that most of his feelings are long gone noe
jeongin
the one that wants to forget
perhaps you were his first love
perhaps he thought that you'd end up together, forever
and ever
and ever.
perhaps he was a bit naive when it came to his approach to his relationship with you. he knew he shouldn't be thinking in such a rose-coloured, idealistic romantic way. he didn't think he'd feel like that at all. but you made his life infinitely better
and now you're gone. how is he supposed to cope?
he just wants to forget everything. forget his life with you. because if you weren't in his life anymore, what was the point?
its painful to reminisce so he makes a conscious effort not to dwell on the past
because once he does, he loses himself. the tears start to brim and flow down his cheek
if he didn't remember such happier times, it wouldn't be this hard

The Contract
Tumblr media
Warnings: Minors DNI, 18+, Yandere themes, Yandere Behavior, Power Imbalance, Dark themes, mentions of physical abuse, implied kidnapping, My bad writing, Slighty OOC Kaveh & Alhaitham, Anything Else I Missed
Characters: Yandere Alhaitham, Yandere Kaveh, G/N Reader
A/N: This is based off this post. Slightly (?) OOC Kaveh. In my mind, his drinking + his temper + his issues makes him far more dangerous than the game allows.
How had he gotten here?  Kaveh sat in the office of what was supposed to be his home, staring eye to eye with a man he’d sworn off years ago. He hated that he was here again, almost as much as he hated the idea that Alhaitham had gotten involved. If he wasn’t completely desperate, Kaveh would have used any other option available to him. Unfortunately at present, his only one was the man sitting across from him. The cause of Kaveh’s desperation wasn’t the fact that he had bankrupted himself. Sure the loss of everything had been devastating, but he would survive. He had after his father died and his mother left. Now would be no different. The trouble was, he wasn’t alone. If it was him, and only him, then he would be fine. He had plenty of friends who would take him in should he need and with the right excuse, he could probably get away with a lie until he found a more solid financial footing. The same thing couldn’t be said for you.
There was no logical explanation for you. No one, outside of the man across from him, knew about you and with good reason. If any of his friends ever found out, he was sure they would write him off forever. Kaveh knew he had been stupid. He should have left well enough alone. He should have left you alone. If he had, then he wouldn’t be where he was right now. He wouldn’t have to worry about the proverbial storm that brewed just above his head. He wouldn’t have had to come Alhaitham for his help. The dirty secret that was you and how he held you would remain as it should, hidden. Kaveh wouldn’t have to face the ugly truth that was staring him right in the face this whole time.
“Do you have any questions?” Alhaitham’s cool tone broke the silence between them. Kaveh briefly focused his attention on his former friend before his eyes fell back to the contract in front of him. After everything that had happened, Kaveh could not deny that Alhaitham hadn’t been generous. Prior to Kaveh spilling his dark secret, Alhaitham had come to him, offering him a place in the home that Kaveh had stupidly given up. In his desperation, Kaveh had been quick to accept, except for one not so small thing. He had been forced to tell Alhaitham about you. More so, he had been forced to show you to Alhaitham. It had been somewhat humiliating for Kaveh to have Alhaitham see you as you were; tucked away in a cavern beneath the city, dressed in only the most basic essentials and covered head to toe in grime. In the past, Kaveh had always prided himself on providing you with the best he could find. He had draped you in fine linens, luxurious silks and the best jewelry he could afford. The faint scent of the expensive soaps and perfumes followed you everywhere you walked, but often lingered on his clothes after he pulled you in close and held you in his arms. It was devastating to see you now. If his secret had to be discovered, why couldn’t it have been when he treated you as a goddess? Why did it have to be now and why out of all people did it have to be Alhaitham?
Much to Kaveh’s surprise, Alhaitham didn’t flinch at the sight of you. Alhaitham’s only reaction to the situation was what happened after the truth had been revealed. A day or so after Kaveh had brought your unexpected visitor to see you, a new rental agreement was delivered to him; one that made allowances for both of you. For the most part, Alhaitham had maintained his original offer of offering his home to Kaveh and now you, the only real change was the condition that Alhaitham had tacked on to the end. One that Kaveh had found absolutely noxious. He had tried to reason with Alhaitham on it, but the scribe wouldn’t budge. Alhaitham was insistent and no amount of pleading would change his mind, which was the whole reason why Kaveh was here now. While Alhaitham wouldn’t cave on the added condition, it was Kaveh’s hope to negotiate slightly better terms on both of your behalfs.
“You won’t -” Kaveh hesitated, the tips of his fingers anxiously pressing into the paper in front of him. He abhorred his next question, but now was his only chance. Part of his own personal duty towards you was to protect you. What if Alhaitham beat you or mistreated you? What if he disfigured you? What if he tried to kill you? How could Kaveh say he had done his duty to you when he hadn’t considered all the possibilities? Alhaitham’s demand to take full custody of you was already bad enough without the thought that Kaveh would hand you over to someone who would willingly harm you. Even if it was against Alhaitham’s nature to be unnaturally cruel, how could Kaveh live with himself if he misjudged Alhaitham’s intentions and gave you to a monster?
“You won’t hurt them, right?” He swallowed as Alhaitham impassively stared back. “I know I haven’t been strict with them when it comes to their behavior. I let them do as they please within limits.” Even then he wasn’t terribly overbearing. You were already unhappy with your current predicament. He didn’t want to make your general unhappiness worse by punishing you. “But you wouldn’t do anything unnecessary to them, would you?” “It depends on what you deem as unnecessary.” Kaveh hesitated again, hating that he had to think about it. Any type of punishment was unnecessary in Kaveh’s eyes, but he knew Alhaitham wouldn’t see it like that. Between the two of them, Alhaitham had always walked a harder line than Kaveh. “If you’re concerned that I’ll be physically abusive to them, then the answer is no.” That allowed Kaveh to release a small sigh of relief. “It is worth reiterating though that they are an unwilling participant in all of this. I’m not blind to the fact that there will be difficulties that arise, especially in this transition period. In those instances, the severity of the punishment will be at my discretion. If that means I have to take a firmer stance so they’ll learn, then so be it.” Meaning that if physical force was required, it would be used, but probably not as a first option. “But you won’t be heavy handed right off the bat? I don’t like the idea of you harming them for something small.” “I don’t like the idea of harming them at all. I won’t take any enjoyment in doing it.” Kaveh nodded, his fingers gradually relaxing against the paper beneath them. “But I will be far stricter than you when it comes to infractions and rules. As I’ve mentioned, they are unwilling.” Kaveh softly hummed in agreement, despising that Alhaitham kept bringing that particular fact up.
It wasn’t like he had grabbed you out of a dark alleyway or along the side of the road. He’d been thoughtful about it. Kaveh had brought you home after he had fed you a few particularly strong drinks in a bar one night. At the time your home was on the other side of the city, too great of a distance to walk in his opinion, so he offered his home to you instead. He sold it as a place where you could safely sleep off the mixture of alcohol and sleeping powder he’d slipped into your cup when you hadn’t been looking. When you awoke the next day, you had been greeted with the discovery that his home was now your home and there wasn’t a thing he would let you do about it. “I’m taking a great personal risk in even knowing about it. Should this ever be discovered, then it would be the ruin of both of us. That’s why keeping them in line will be key. If they behave like you claim, then it won’t be an issue, will it?” Kaveh flinched, a reaction that didn’t go unnoticed by Alhaitham. “Don’t tell me you lied to me about them.” The dryness of Alhaitham’s tone grated on Kaveh’s nerves.
“I didn’t lie.” Kaveh spat that out a little harsher than he meant too. “Oh?” Alhaitham leaned back in his chair, folding his arms. “Then what is it?” Kaveh forced out a sigh, resting his forehead against his free hand. It was the one truth he tried so desperately to deny.
After all this time. After all he had done to give you the life he felt you deserved, one constant remained the same. You still wanted to go home. The pleading had been incessant since his money trouble had begun. Night and day all he heard is that you wanted to leave, to just let you go. It was to the point that he had exploded at you the last time he had seen you. After that, you were silent. You wouldn’t even look at him. As for his apologies, those fell on deaf ears. It drove home the fact that the lies he told himself every time he looked at you could no longer hide the truth. The domestic bliss that he believed you shared was nothing more than a fool's paradise. As much as he wanted you to love him, you didn’t and at this point you probably wouldn’t. He had seen you flinch every time he reached for you. He had felt you squirm and try to pull away while he held you close. He had watched you cower every time he had a bottle of wine in his hand. Kaveh knew his temper was to blame for all of it. Your compliance to his whims and wishes was as much appeasement as it was fear. There had been too many mornings where he had woken up next to you, only to find the marks and bruises he had left of you the night before. He had always tried to make it up to you with gifts and gestures, but damage was long done. There was no changing it. Now with the change in keeper, Kaveh began to question just how difficult you could be for Alhaitham.
He remembered how hard it had been in the beginning with you. Every day had been a struggle. All he had asked you for was to be able to bask in your radiance without anyone else’s eyes on you, but you had refused. Instead you fought, you scratched, you clawed to get away from him. Nearly every morning for the first few weeks he had found you trying to scale the garden wall. In the evenings you had waited until he had drunk himself into a stupor to try and steal his keys. Very late one night, he had come home to find you on the deserted street after you had successfully picked both the lock on your bedroom door and the front door. He didn’t remember much after that. Only that you stopped trying to run. Whatever he had done had been severe enough that you never looked at him the same way again.
“It’s difficult.” He released a heavy sigh. “They don’t behave because I ask them to. They hate me too much to do that.” Kaveh didn’t bother to look up to see Alhaitham’s reaction. It wouldn’t help him to see it. He knew nothing gave the scribe greater joy than to not only force Kaveh to see reality, but to get him to admit to it as well. “I’ve ruined their life.” But it was justified. He loved you so unbelievably much. You were his muse, his light, his everything. He worshiped you. He wanted to share his world with you. Kaveh would give you anything, just to see you smile. After the loss of his parents, the loss of his home, could he really stand to lose you as well? “I-'' He didn’t know what to do.
Letting you go wasn’t an option. Even if Kaveh sent you to another country, there was no guarantee that you wouldn’t notify the matra once enough time had passed. It’s not like he had the money to pay for your silence anyway. Running wasn’t an option either. While Kaveh believed he could get out of Sumeru before the matra could apprehend him, he knew Dori would get her money come hell or high water. If she believed anything was a miss, then she would track him down faster than the matra would. In the end, she would take all that Kaveh had and leave the rest to rot in prison. That only left him with two choices, give you to Alhaitham and endure that torture for the duration of his stay in Alhaitham’s house or end you altogether. Kaveh’s breath caught in his throat.
God. Could he do that? Was he capable of that? Could he really bring himself to destroy the one person he’d sworn to protect?
“Perhaps you’ll accept my advice, for once.” Alhaitham’s voice snapped him away from the dark thoughts that had consumed his mind. Kaveh looked up, gently nodding at the man across from him, blindly agreeing to whatever sage advice Alhaitham may have. “From my viewpoint, you’re at a crossroads.” Kaveh swallowed, sighing in agreement. “All of your options are bad.” “I don’t want to break my promise to them.” Kaveh forced himself to sit up. “I swore to take care of them. I can’t go back on that.” “Then sign the contract.” Kaveh’s eyes fell back to the paper that was resting beneath his hand. “In signing our agreement, you will fulfill your promise. They will be provided for. If you choose not to, then you will be forced to leave them somewhere that isn’t my house and hope that they don’t get away or that they aren’t found by someone else while you seek alternative housing.” Or the third option, which was that Alhaitham reported your location to the matra the second Kaveh walked out the door. Kaveh wasn’t a complete fool when it came to the world. What Kaveh had done was illegal. Nothing would change that. He knew that as the scribe, Alhaitham was under a specific obligation to report Kaveh’s crime to the matra. Nothing would stop Alhaitham from doing it should Kaveh refuse. The cost of Alhaitham’s silence was to sign you away to him.
“But it might be worth it.” Kaveh felt a false sense of hope surge through him. He grabbed hold of it, pushing away the ugly truth that was sitting right in front of his face. “We don’t need anything grand, right? Just four walls and a roof.” That was it. He snapped his fingers as the idea struck him.“The rainforest has plenty of abandoned places. For instance, there’s that abandoned farm outside of Gandharva Ville. I could fix it up for us.” “With what?” Kaveh sagged slightly, feeling some of his hope leave him. “Do you really believe Tighnari will simply give you that after the headaches you caused him?” Kaveh grimaced again. Remembering all the trouble he had caused with the Palace of Alcazarzaray. “He’s the forgiving type. It’s not like Dori will take everything every month. I can fix it up little by little.” “And how will you explain it?” Kaveh hesitated. “Won’t it raise some eyebrows when you arrive with a hostage in tow?” “They aren’t-” Kaveh felt his blood pressure begin to rise. Even if Alhaitham was only pointing out the obvious, it wasn’t necessary that he do so. “They’re not-” “They’re currently bound and gagged in the guest bedroom. Prior to that, you had them in a cave. We had to sneak them here under the cover of darkness.” Kaveh groaned. “Getting them out of the city will be every bit as challenging as bringing them in. You’re telling me that you would risk everything on the off chance that you won’t get caught?” “Alhaitham-” The scribe’s tone grew terser. He cut Kaveh off before he had the chance to use another excuse. “Gandharva Ville is right on the border with Liyue. Do you honestly believe that you’ll be able to leave them there unattended while you go look for work?” He didn’t. You would run the second you had a chance, but Kaveh didn’t want to give up hope. The dream of keeping you with him, even if it was only for a few moments longer, was too good to pass up. “Must you do this?” Kaveh slammed his free hand against the wood of the table in frustration. “I’ve already hit rock bottom. Can’t I have this one last little daydream before it all comes crashing down?” Kaveh didn’t bother to hide his exasperation. “No.” Kaveh felt his throat tighten as that word sunk in. “Daydreaming is what got you in this mess in the first place. The entire reason we’re even having this conversation is because you’ve put yourself into a situation that you can’t get out of. Hostages are easy things to keep when you have money.” Thanks to his own mistakes, Kaveh did not. “You’ve been careless and foolish in your choices, and now your greed concerning them is clouding your judgment.” “Greed?” Kaveh nearly choked on the word. “You honestly think this is greed?” “I would term it obsession, but you’re already way past the point of no return, so yes I would call it greed.” Kaveh swallowed, taking a stuttering breath as he did his best not to scream in Alhaitham’s face. He had the contract to consider. Should Kaveh say something he wasn’t supposed to, then both of them could end up on the streets. “Greed? Obsession?” Kaveh ground out the words, his tone shaky, yet calm. “Not love or passion or devotion, which is what it actually is. Maybe you would understand, if you had an ounce of feeling in you.” Alhaitham narrowed his eyes at him, clearly taking the insult to heart. The scribe’s tone iced over, becoming harsh and hard in a single breath. “If you truly loved them, you would have given them a choice to begin with. Instead, you made the choice for them.” Kaveh’s heart tightened at those words.
“No” His nails scraped against the table as he closed his hands. “That’s not-“
“Your denial regarding your situation has made you delusional. From your perspective, you would give all that you have, all that you are, and all that you will be to them.” “Yes! Because I am devoted to them.” “Because you wish to keep them all to yourself.” Kaveh looked away, his eyes dropping to the table. “You can keep lying to yourself if it suits you, but I won’t let you lie to me.” That felt like a kick to the gut. Kaveh’s entire body doubled over, his face inches from the table, eyes fixed on the contract as Alhaitham continued. “They didn’t ask you for your so-called devotion. You’ve forced it upon them, just like you’ve forced this unfortunate situation on me.” Slowly Kaveh tried to shake his head, but he couldn’t manage it. Instead all he could feel was the stinging sensation as tears began to form in his eyes. “Admit it, you wanted them. You can preach your ideals to me all you like, but in the end, your own selfish desire won. Why else would you make yourself the center of their universe? The only logical reason is because you cannot stand the idea of anyone else taking that place from you.” Alhaitham paused long enough to take a shallow breath. “It still drives you, even as we speak.” Kaveh looked up, blinking back his tears as he stared at his former friend. He loathed that every word Alhaitham had said was true. “I’ve offered you a reasonable solution to your problem. I’m even prepared to help maintain this addiction of yours by keeping them as a prisoner in my house, yet you fight me. I don’t think asking to take charge of their care is a significant ask, but you disagree.” It wasn’t just your care though. It was full custody and full autonomy over you. Kaveh would lose all say.  Alhaitham could dictate down to if Kaveh could even touch you, if he so wished. That’s what made this so difficult. In his heart, Kaveh knew this was the best solution for both of you, given the options available to him. Alhaitham could give you a home, he could afford good food and comfortable clothes. He could give you all the things Kaveh would struggle to give. All Alhaitham asked in return was that both of you behave.
The two of them sat in relative silence. The only sound between them were Kaveh’s soft sobs as he stared at the contract through his tears. He had tried and he had failed, on every front. The idealized life he had shared with you was over, a victim of Kaveh’s own incompetence. The only way to salvage it was to hope that Alhaitham would be kind. That perhaps the scribe would allow Kaveh the fantasy of just you and he every once in a great while. He could tolerate Alhaitham’s control of you then.
Slowly, his sobs ceased. Kaveh forced his body to sit up, his red rimmed eyes never leaving the contract. As much as it pained him, he knew what needed to be done. It was time. There was no going back. From across the table, he watched as Alhaitham’s eyes followed his hand as he reached for the ink pot and quill. There was nothing in them. They were as calm and unreadable as they ever were.
“One more thing.” Alhaitham’s eyes fixed themselves back on his own. “I’ll get to see them everyday, yes? You won’t be cruel and play keep away, will you?”
“This isn’t a large house. It would be difficult to keep them away.” That wasn’t the answer Kaveh wanted to hear. He pulled his hand back, giving Alhaitham his full attention.
“Please. Will you let me see them everyday?” Kaveh tried to sound hopeful, but Alhaitham’s face said otherwise.
“I have no intention of keeping you apart, unless either of you do something egregious. As long as you operate with the understanding that they are mine once you sign the document, we’ll be fine. If you try to steal them or worse still, they try to run then there will be consequences.” Like locking you away. “One more concession-” Kaveh pulled out the quill, holding it over the now wrinkled and tear stained contract. “I get tonight with them. In the morning-” Kaveh released another sigh. “In the morning they’re yours.” It hurt more than anything to say that, but in his own mind he had no other choice. Logic had to win out here. Even if the entire situation was beyond all logic, Kaveh had to do what was best not only for you, but himself as well. He would get to see you. That was something, even if it was only better than nothing. “I’ll leave to get the rest of my things after breakfast. That will give you time… time with them.” The last part was barely a whisper, but Alhaitham heard it all the same. “If that’s what you wish. Just don’t throw a fit when you get back.” Kaveh nodded as he pressed the tip of the quill to the paper. A deep breath and a gulp later, his hand moved the pen across the page, forever signing away your life and his to Alhaitham.

Here’s a little opinion I have about why Star came down from the sky to help out Asha. Or maybe this is just a little interpretation from late night thoughts.
Tumblr media
So we all know that Asha sang to the sky about wanting more for the people of Rosas, such as getting their dreams and wishes back (even tho they live rent free and everything). Nevertheless, her wish is selfless and is focused on everyone else, not herself.
The scene where she meets Star and she says “I just want their wishes to have a chance”, in my opinion, proves that selflessness.
Asha knows what it’s like to have a wish/dream crushed. When she was younger, all she wished for was for her father Tomás (yes that’s his real name. It’s in the art book of Wish), to get better from an illness. He never did and died when Asha was 12. So we can speculate or obviously consider the fact that Asha’s primary goal is to make sure no one (in the safest way possible, because she knows there are bad wishes- she’s not dumb) experiences that loss and pain. That’s why she signs up to be King Magnifico’s apprentice, not because she wants Sabino’s wish granted. She even says “that’s why I want to work for you” to Magnifico after his speech to her during the interview.
Yes, I will admit that her asking Magnifico to consider granting her grandfather’s wish was a little out of line but in all honesty we’d all do that (unless you have hella anxiety about asking for things then ayy same). But in truth she never demanded it, she simply asked him to consider granting his wish. She was open to the possibility of him not granting her grandfather’s wish because the key word is ‘consider’, but didn’t expect the whole keeping most of the wishes thing forever- which is why the argument occurred. They both got valid arguments ngl.
By the way, before anyone attacks me- I love both characters deeply and I think they’re both right and wrong and that the conflict could’ve been solved if the wish system was reformed and more clear. Not everyone is just good or just evil (no one is a villain in this movie, man, really it’s just the damn book. They’re all humans who think like humans and act like humans). Again, I adore them both. Anyways- I think I’m losing track.
So we know that Asha’s goal is to give the people of Rosas a chance to pursue their dreams themselves. Imo, that’s entirely selfless. And as for those bad wishes, Asha is aware there should be a regulation for those and should be stopped- so of course, she’s advocating for the good wishes. I know some are vague but- okay that is for a different possible post. I’m going to get on with the deal between Star and Asha.
Asha is selfless, period. She never wants something solely for herself and she barely even thinks about what she wants for herself only. She even got a magic wand twice and tried to reject it the second time she got it. Yayay selfless heroine. I’m sorry it’s late at night right now.
The moment Star comes down from the sky is seemingly the first appearance of a wishing star ever. At least to the kingdom of Rosas that is. I like to think that there are multiple stars out there and this one seemed to hear Asha’s pleas. My belief is that the more selfless, kind-hearted, and passionate a wish is… the more likely a star will actually come down to help you out.
LIKE WITH HOW FAIRIES ARE BORN IN THE TINKERBELLE MOVIES WHERE A CHILD’S FIRST LAUGH BLOWS AWAY A DANDELION SEED AND A FAIRY IS BORN- oh my god that’s genius. Now I like the idea of these wishing stars being born from selfless wishes 😭 I need to sleep.
Tumblr media
(some disney concept art from idk where i just thought it was pretty. Not even sure this is wish bruh)
Also the fact that Asha’s father was a philosopher who talked about stars all the time, and taught Asha about the stars. We know all about that ya’ll I don’t gotta explain. She wished to the sky for a while now that I think about it.
Yeah that’s all I gotta say for that. Gonna also clarify that I recognize that Asha is a little naive in the movie, but she’s not purely dumb- maybe another post for another day idk. I love her anyways (don’t worry I love Magnifico, I choose both of their sides but this isn’t about him. If you think i don’t like him istg I love magnifico i think about him 24/7 on the dot every hour help me).
My thoughts are a little jumbled, but I’d like to put out more posts on my interpretations despite my worries. I’ll try my best to get my words out, but at the end of the day, this is all fictional and all in good fun. Good night ✨

Aaron Hotchner x Jessica Brooks x female reader (platonic)
Summary: Aaron walks in on you calling him out and urging your friend Jessica to speak up for herself.
Warnings: angst, some comfort, family issues, Hailey is mentioned, angry Hotch
A/N: just a little blurb I thought of after watching S10E20, hope you enjoy

*✧・゚: *✧・゚
You were heartbroken, sitting across from your best friend as she broke down for the third time this week. You’ve known Jessica Brooks for almost seven years. The two of you share everything and have an almost sisterly bond. Despite her bubbly and outgoing persona, the past few years have been tough on her. Between the sudden loss of her sister, stepping up in a major way for her nephew Jack and his dad, financial stress, and her father's new dementia diagnosis, you were worried about your friend. She had too much on her plate and was slowly losing herself.
Naturally, you felt angry for her. She gave every part of herself to her family, held nothing back and never said no. But everyone has their limit, and Jessica was well past hers.
“Jess, please let me help you. I can watch Jack, we both know this interview is important.”
You had called up an old friend for a favour to get Ray a spot at one of the best assisted living facilities in the city. Jessica landed an interview, but Jack’s father wasn't home for another two days. You’ve only met the man in passing, you never really had an opinion on him one way or the other, but as of late, you've grown to resent him for all the pressure he puts on your friend.
“It's fine Y/N, you know how Aaron is, he wouldn’t be happy with his son being around people he doesn’t know,” you rolled your eyes at that.
Meanwhile, Aaron’s case ended earlier than expected. He decided to come by Jessica's place to surprise Jack. He let himself in quietly, knowing it was either Jack’s nap-time or reading time, not wanting to disturb either. He paused at the sound of your voices coming from the kitchen.
“You know what I mean Y/N, I trust you with Jack but I want to respect his father's wishes,” she explained patiently.
“C'mon Jess, I know he’s your family but this laundry list of demands and expectations is ridiculous. He knows about your dad, has he offered to help in any way? He knows about your job situation, has he offered any help? Jess, why is it that you have to be the backbone for everyone and no one looks out for you?” Jessica sighs, biting her lip.
Aaron’s jaw is clenched tightly as the heat begins to rise to his face, he feels a swarm of emotions at the moment, but mainly anger. Anger at being called out by someone he barely knows, anger that you know this much about his family life, anger that you have the nerve to say any of this out loud.
“Y/N, you're always looking out for me and I’m forever grateful, you put in a good word for dad at this facility, you put in a referral for me at your job, and you always offer to watch Jack for me. You are the best friend and biggest supporter I have right now and I love you for it Y/N. But it's different with Aaron, he's-”
“Your ex-brother-in-law that you feel bad for? Look, Jess, I know I'm well out of line here but you are drowning and you need to speak up for yourself.” That was bold, but you stood ten toes behind every word and behind your friend.
Hotch decides he has heard enough, he clears his throat, causing you both to jump.
“Aaron, your home! Jack’s gone down for a nap, he was worn out today, they played tennis and it was his turn to be pizza helper,” Jessica rambles on nervously, firmly planting herself between the two of you. The tension in the room is thick.
“Can I have a word please,” he shoots you a stern glare, “in private.”
You move out to the balcony, avoiding all eye contact, feeling guilty for the awkward situation you've created for Jess.
“Aaron listen, she’s my friend, her delivery is harsh but she means well,” Hotch abruptly cuts her off, “I don’t want her anywhere near my son and I’d appreciate it if you'd stop indulging our private business with her,” he snaps.
Jessica is slightly taken aback, “Aaron, I understand she said some harsh words just now, but that's not fair, she's my friend and she’s genuinely concerned. She's coming from a good place.” Her tone is calm, a stark contrast to his.
“Why didn't you just come to me instead of venting to your friend about our family’s issues?”
“Aaron, you are not the easiest person to talk to. You have a lot on your plate already, and you're not always open to having hard conversations. Y/N is a good friend, she listens and offers real solutions to help.”
Aaron shifts slightly, feeling an uncomfortable pang in his chest.
“I would've heard you out. I didn't know you were struggling with work, and I was going to talk to you about your dad, but I wanted to give you some space first,” his voice is lower now.
“That's it, Aaron, I don't need any more ‘space’ I feel like I'm on an island by myself as it is! I want to feel like I can talk to you without worrying about you getting upset.”
Jessica sighs, gently placing a hand on his shoulder, “and I want you to talk to me Aaron, you don’t have to carry everything by yourself, this is a two-way street.”
Aaron looks down at his feet, hands tucked into his pockets as guilt washes over him. Jessica has been a rock for him and he had no idea how badly she was hurting. Aaron’s coping mechanism is to drown out the noise with work, to bury his head in the sand.
“I’m sorry Jessica, I’m sorry for not listening and for making you feel like you couldn’t talk to me. I’ll try do better about talking to you.”
You’ve been watching and listening silently from your spot on the balcony as the two of them talk it out and you smile to yourself, proud of Jessica for finally speaking up. Hearing Aaron speak candidly and be vulnerable for once shifts something inside of you.
Maybe Jack’s dad isn't as bad as you thought….

His shield breaks.
It shatters into pieces, all the wear finally ripping it apart, and the pain of its splinters digging into his arm is almost enough to distract him from the hunger.
His shield breaks. He steps back, steps around the tree, stumbles down, swings his sword and—
(“Eat, eat— No—!”)
Nothing.
did I look at that enderman did I look at it I thought I hadn’t I thought the tree would protect me but it still found a way it still found a way death always finds a way—
no no no no no no—
first out again first every time how embarrassing I—
I feel so bad for Tango.
It’s strange, existing in this afterlife, this limbo. It’s not dark. It’s not light. It just is. Endless and void and with no sense of up or down, no time, just infinity.
Except, not even this is forever. The game is over for him. He’ll be released soon, go on about his life, gather more losses and maybe some victories in worlds that aren’t this one and then, if the death game calls again, he’ll be stupid enough to think, “Maybe this time it will be different.”
He had hoped the afterlife would be… quiet, if not peaceful. He had hoped it would soothe the call of red but…
Poor Tango. Poor Tango. Poor Tango. Poor Tango, paired with Jimmy. Poor Tango, he never had a chance. Poor Tango, everyone knows the real curse is Jimmy.
He can still feel their pity, sitting sour between sharp teeth, bleeding gums.
“Imagine what you’d feel like if everyone thought of you as a curse,” he’d snapped once, during the early days of the game, not at Tango but in conversation with him. “Imagine if— Imagine—”
“Sounds like a rough time,” Tango had said. This was before they got familiar with one another, the feeling of another heart beat close to their own, so he’d sounded unsure. “But, hey, we’ll make the best of it.”
Was it? Did we?
When Tango joins him, Jimmy has his face buried in his hands.
“Why, Jimmy?” Tango asks, gasped out. They don’t need to breathe here, so Jimmy knows it’s from pure frustration rather than strain. “Why?”
Oh no. Again? Aw. That’s outrageous. Tim’s out. What? Wohoo! It’s real! Tim, we’re holding a funeral for you—
That’s the real curse, having Jimmy as your soulmate.
Poor Tango.
“I’m sorry,” Jimmy says, carved out from his throat with every piece of him that isn’t made of shame or rage. “Their pity will… it’ll stop, after a while.”
Tango stares at him, uncomprehending. The bond is gone, Jimmy doesn’t quite know what he’s thinking or feeling anymore (and that’s all they are here, thoughts and feelings, scraps of memory until they’re sown back together and set free). Still, he sees realization click. Tango is a smart man, after all. He would have made it further, probably, with anyone else.
“I didn’t pity you,” he says, frowning, honest. He reaches out for both of Jimmy’s hands. He’s not warm anymore. “Us. This.”
“I know,” Jimmy says. He’ll try to remember that. It was nice. “It’s okay if you do now.”
Tango’s mouth twists, unhappy.
“The Ranch is over,” Jimmy tells him. “It’s done.”
He lets go of Tango’s hands, closes his eyes, turns around, to the opposite site of this stupid dark. He doesn’t want to see Tango’s expression and not know what it means. He doesn’t want to see the moment he leaves. He… he wants to leave.
You’re free, he doesn’t say.
You’re still here?

I think that V9 really just made me convinced that the friendship between Team RWBY is pretty out of obligation and that their friendships and relationships will not last with the possible exception of Ruby and Weiss. Like, the writers might continue on to make them 'bffs forever' with relationships we're supposed to think are perfect, but I really just think they barely even like each other.
Trigger warning for discussions of attempted suicide.
Ruby spends the entire volume going through a terrible depression and grieving over the loss of her friend and struggling with trauma and very clearly not okay, and meanwhile only one of her friends really seem to care and only when she's not distracted. Ruby then blows up that she doesn't want to be the leader anymore, doesn't want to be treated like she's perfect, doesn't want to be the one who provides answers, and basically admits that she feels like no one cares what she goes through. Then her friends don't do anything when a forty year old man screams in her face that she's responsible for all bad things, don't do anything but watch as she basically tries to kill herself after being tortured, don't care much after the fact, and then when she comes back, they all basically says she's perfect and would never be weak and announce they're still looking to her as a leader for all their answers.
Blake and Yang have never addressed any of their actual past issues and Blake became a completely different person and the doylist reason might be that the writers just changed her character but in universe it feels like she did that for Yang, but then in V9 Yang is pretty much just blowing off all of Blake's concerns while Blake tries to control Yang's temper for her by coaxing Yang like a mom with a toddler, they were forced into confessing their feelings for each other and what Yang said to Blake basically amounted to 'I think it's cute that you're a minority, also here's some incorrect things that indicate that I don't pay attention to you or your past as an abuse victim,' and then the little sister that Yang supposedly cares about killed herself after implying that Yang was ignoring her for Blake's sake.
As for Weiss's relationship with Blake and Yang, did they even talk outside of Weiss telling them that Ruby was going through too much and sharing eye-rolls about how exasperating the Ever After was? Weiss put way more work into her friendship with Jaune than them and basically acted like they were just her co-workers and she was Angela in the first season of the Office.
And you know what, let's include Jaune in this too, because despite the fact that Jaune was closer to Ruby than almost anyone for the majority of the show... This whole thing made me not believe in them as friends from here on in. Jaune screamed in her face victim blaming her for stuff that wasn't her fault while basically saying she has no right to feel anything bad, after Ruby dismissed the Paper Pleasers as imaginary, and Jaune is now young again but has spent like twenty years apart from her and it would only make sense for Jaune to care way more about a lot of different things and it seems like he has a lot of resentment towards her built up. And meanwhile, I have no choice but to think they're trying to set up White Knight but he's??? Forty in his head??? And also Weiss was one of the people dismissing him as an unreliable crazy person. Which Blake and Yang also did, and he'd barely talked to Blake and Yang EVER before falling into the Ever After, especially Blake. Their little group hug meant next to nothing when half of them had no real relationship anyway and if there's a romance between Jaune and Weiss I cannot and will not believe that it'd ever work out especially now that's he's like mentally twenty years older than her.
The reason why I think that Ruby and Weiss have a chance for their friendship to survive is because they both still act like they care and would be willing to admit when they've been wrong. I honest to god feel like if Ruby tried to sit Yang down and have a conversation about feeling like Yang's past actions hurt her, Yang would get defensive or just be like 'what are you talking about of course I love you' and then go on doing the same stuff she was doing in volume 9. Of course I don't think the writers are actually going to act like anything is wrong or that anyone in the team needs to change and adjust and especially not anyone but Ruby (who somehow managed to get partially thrown under the bus this season for the power couple and the fandom's best girl and best boy 🙄) But I really just feel like no matter how much longer they writers try to make us think they're close friends, I'm still gonna feel like a year down the road Yang and Ruby will have very little contact, Blake and Yang will have broken up, Jaune and Ruby will be fighting, Weiss will have fallen out with Yang and Blake, and Ruby and Blake will have an incredibly awkward 'let's hang out some time,' small talk infused conversation like once every two or three months, and that's it.

Wakanda Forever: A Tribute to a Fallen Brother
Tumblr media
As the final film in the MCU’s Phase Four and an anticipated sequel after the death of Chadwick Boseman, the film has a lot of hype and expectations to live up to for their fans.
After watching the film, it was very interesting to see how self contained and mature it portrays the themes of colonial powers and the overall power struggle for Vibranium. There were just as many epic fight scenes as quiet moments of self-reflection within the characters.
Shuri’s Journey as the Black Panther
Tumblr media
Shuri has been portrayed as the comedic younger sister of the Black Panther T’Challa in the first film, but now we get to see a newer, serious side to her after the death of her brother. One scene that stuck out to me was her interactions with Kilmonger in the Ancestral Plane as Shuri has the same pain and suffering that drove Kilmonger in his crusade. This interaction creates a sort of conflict within her of whether she wants to seek vengeance or protect her kingdom.
Namor the Sub Mariner
Tumblr media
So, I’ve never really heard of or followed the story of Namor the Sub Mariner despite his legacy of the first mutant introduced in comic books. This version of Namor takes a much different turn in how they portray more Aztec culture and heritage with an aquatic blend. Namor has shown a level of complexity that makes him both a sympathetic villain and a ruthless man. He does genuinely care for his people, but willingly sees the necessary actions for portecting his kingdom.
Riri Williams, the Ironheart
Tumblr media
Riri Williams, in my opinion, felt like a lackluster copy of Tony Stark in the comics with being black as a major draw-in for comic reader without any personality to back her up. She doesn’t share the exact type of impression as Kamala Khan in both the comics and her tv series, but isn’t a bad character, just under-utilized in aspects.
In the movie, she’s the “macguffin” that makes her a target by the Talokanil, basically Aztec Atlanteans. In her first impression, Riri is a no-nonsense MIT student who strives to outsmart her own professors. Other than that, she’s the fish out of water dragged into a big storm, the scientist responsible for making technology that locates Vibranium.
Other Characters
There are a lot of great characters that stand out within the film, particularly Queen Ramonda played by Angela Bassett and Nakia played by Lupita Nyong’o.
Ramonda becomes the perfect blend of strong command and calm wisdom who takes on the responsibilities of ruling Wakanda with strong, decisive force. She demonstrates this authority when she strips Okoye of her rank and role in the military as she laments the possible loss of her family while all the sides of the world are slowing trying to take down her kingdom.
Nakia returns in the film as a teacher in Haiti who gets pulled back into Wakanda after Shuri gets captured by Namor. Nakia is a sympathetic ear for Shuri to lean on where Nakia tries to show her the sides of the fight that could end in devastation on both sides.
M’Baku, played by Winston Duke, does have a surprising level of development from a brute to strong warrior who acts as consul to Shuri during her transition into Black Panther.
The Story
Wakanda Forever deals with the aftermath of T’Challa’s death from an unknown disease and the rising war between the Talokanil and Wakanda. The story felt almost natural that allowed for strong character moments. The scene between Shuri and Namor making a truce for the benefit of their people highlights how they are willing to put aside their grudges and make each other allies facing the threat of the other countries trying to steal from them.
Afterwards...
Wakanda Forever doesn’t end in an epic note, but a somber one that creates a level of ambiguity for what may come for Black Panther and the possible third film that could follow in the future. The film’s ending gives a sense of closure for T’Challa’s and Chadwick Boseman’s journey in the MCU through Shuri’s perspective.

Rick Sanchez & The Stages of Grooming (6/6)
Stage 6: Maintaining Control
Once sexual abuse is occurring, perpetrators commonly use secrecy, blame, and threats to maintain the child’s participation and continued silence. In order to maintain control, perpetrators use emotional manipulation; they make the child believe they are the only person who can meet their emotional and material needs. The child may feel that the loss of the relationship, or the consequences of exposing it, will be more damaging and humiliating than continuing the unhealthy relationship.
"If you tell anyone, we both could go to jail, We won't be able to be together." Or "If you tell anyone, something bad could happen to your family." (x)
Secrecy & Threats
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As we know, Rick’s goal from the start is to get Morty to go on adventures with him and make him his partner/sidekick. When he realizes that Beth and Jerry could kick him out if they knew that he was endangering their son’s life and using him, he threatens Morty with “you’re going to keep your mouth shut about [the adventures], Morty.”
Keep in mind this happens in the pilot after the mega seeds incident. So this secrecy between them is something that Rick sets up from the get-go, even though it falls through pretty quickly as the family gets increasingly involved in the adventures themselves.
Rick then says “the world is full of idiots who don’t understand what’s important, and they’ll tear us apart, Morty. The outside world is our enemy, Morty. We’re the only friends we’ve got, Morty.”
Here Rick is creating an ‘us vs. them’ mentality to convince Morty not to betray him by telling his parents what happens during their adventures. He then threatens Morty that the world will tear them apart if they are found out. He’s using the emotional closeness he’s fostered against him to say that if Morty tells anyone he will lose the close connection the two of them have.
This scene is… very peculiar when compared to how nonchalant Rick acts most of the time. But this was also the pilot episode where Rick’s characterization was noticeably different from how it later became. In the beginning he was much less level-headed, more careless, and made impulsive decisions. But since in the same episode he almost blew up the world, it’s fair to say his behavior was affected since he was at a mental breaking point.
We don’t get to see this particular secretive and oppressive side of Rick again until the season 3 premiere, after he manages to get Beth to side with him over Jerry. With the parents’ divorce in progress, Rick immediately gets Morty alone to tell him about how much darker their adventures will become now that he is “the de facto patriarch of your family and your universe.” He insists that even if Morty tells anyone about what Rick is saying they won’t believe him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I just took over the family, Morty! And if you tell your mom or sister I said any of this I’ll deny it, and they’ll take my side because I’m a hero, Morty! And now you’re going to have to go and do whatever I say, Morty! Forever!”
Through this scene, Rick instills a sense of hopelessness in Morty by asserting that he will always be the most powerful, he will always be in charge, and he will always get his way. So when he tells Morty that he has to do whatever he says, it is just as much of a threat that he can turn whoever Morty tells against him - similar to how the fear of Rick leaving turned Beth against Jerry. It’s blackmail.
Blame
On top of the threats, there is also the fact that Rick tends to blame Morty for any mishaps in their adventures. For example, in Rick Potion #9, even after making multiple supposed mistakes and Cronenberging humanity, Rick acts like the whole thing is Morty’s fault for wanting a love potion in the first place. He calls Morty a “creep” to shame him even though Rick should have just refused Morty’s request in the first place if he thought it was so wrong.
Tumblr media
Rick projecting and blaming others for his own faults comes up multiple times in the series. If The ABCs of Beth is anything to go by, Rick also did this with Beth. He insults her by saying she was a “scary kid” for the trouble she got into with the dangerous gadgets he agreed to make her as a child, deflecting every accusation that Beth throws his way.
Their argument is a testament to Rick’s selfishness and refusal to reflect inward to challenge his own flaws, probably because he is scared of what he’ll find out about himself. This may be changing due to season 5’s finale, but we have yet to see how Rick actually develops based on his acknowledgement of the abusive relationship he has with Morty.
Another instance that Rick shifts blame onto Morty is after he, Summer, and Morty are forced into a soul orgy with the slut dragons in Claw and Hoarder: Special Ricktim's Morty. Even though Rick is the one who gave Morty the dragon, he yet again blames the incident on Morty for daring to ask for something.
Let me offer greater context to let this sink in... Rick blames Morty for their shared incestuous sexual experience despite the fact that Morty was the one to protest the most beforehand. Rick places the seed in Morty’s mind that it’s his own fault that he feels dirty, because he was the initiator of the adventure. He “asked” for it, even though Morty had no way of knowing that events would unfold the way they did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rick’s shady secretive side also returns in this episode when he tells Morty and Summer “maybe don’t tell your parents we did this” during the orgy. So it seems there are certain things Rick still expects his grandchildren to keep quiet about. And in Rattlestar Ricklactica he shows he isn’t above using physical violence to punish Morty for disobeying his orders.
Morty’s Trauma Bond
Forgetting Sarick Mortshall and Rickmurai Jack show Morty’s unhealthy attachment to Rick even after all of the physical and emotional abuse he has suffered. Despite everything, those episodes prove that Morty does value their relationship and doesn’t want to be apart from him. In other words, Morty shows symptoms of being in a trauma bond.
When Rick temporarily leaves Morty for the crows, Morty is desperate to get back together with him. And even when Beth tells Morty to stand up for himself and demand to be treated better, he says he doesn’t care if Rick’s abuse continues as long as they can be partners again. So of course we never see Morty tell anyone about the things Rick wants him to keep secret. Rick has successfully made Morty completely reliant on him for connection and companionship.
In conclusion, Morty is fine remaining under Rick’s control because Rick intentionally conditioned him to be that way. In the season 5 finale, Rick even makes a half-joking comment about how Mortys really are “bred for forgiveness” after his Morty chooses to stay with him instead of escaping the Citadel as it’s being destroyed.
Though it can be argued that Morty wasn’t “bred” in the same way that the Citadel Mortys were, Rick’s comment nonetheless insinuates that this forgiveness was something groomed into him by a Rick. And if you ask me, it was likely C-137 himself.

what did baby think of demi when they first met? what did demi think of baby? how did demi cope with the loss of her sister as a new parent? did she start work at the clinic right away, or did she wait to look after baby? how did baby and demi cope in the weird Transitional period between samantha and josephine dying? did mason keep taking care of baby, or was it just demi? did baby start kindergarten so she would just have Supervision when the adults in her life couldn’t provide it? also, how did mason do with all these changes? sorry for a million questions that are all over the place, i just really like the Ayuluk Family Lore and wonder a lot about that sort of. uncertain period specifically… your ocs are so well fleshed-out and so interesting to me
are u kidding, never be sorry for a million questions about my oc’s i could literally talk about them Forever!! baby had met demi a couple of times whenever demi came home from school to visit her family and just sort of had a vague impression of her as “nice lady who looks like mom and grandma”. demi of course loved her niece and enjoyed seeing her with every visit, but she didn’t know a ton about her specific behaviors when she first moved back home. demi and baby really only had a few weeks to get to know one another better before samantha died, time that demi mostly spent getting her clinic set up and working with her family to try to figure out a recovery plan for samantha. very suddenly losing samantha to an overdose when demi had been working towards getting her sister some help was extremely traumatizing, but demi has always been the family member who absorbs everyone else’s pain and stress so she put her grief aside. she just focused on getting the funeral planned and dealing with now legally having custody of baby, which meant that demi truly never processed her sister’s death in a whole and complete way.
demi kept working on getting her clinic started without any delay because she knew that the family would need income on top of what mason was making. for a moment, things were almost okay, but then josephine died and life just kind of. went gray for all of them. demi continued not dealing with the deaths so she could perform all of the necessary duties and responsibilities required to keep their family afloat, which meant fading out of her life and not having many chances to bond significantly with baby other than caring for her on a loving but not quite personable level. mason had already stepped up by dropping out of high school to work and take care of his mom, but he had always been the optimist until sam and josephine died; he kind of dimmed after that and started smoking a lot more in his down time. he still took care of baby like he had done before, but it was just. Different yk?? and baby had already been a quiet kid but after the deaths, she basically stopped talking for a while and just stayed in her own little world. she did what she was told and was still willing to interact when necessary, but she mostly just stayed in her room. that was also when her sleep issues showed up and really started getting bad.
baby was put in kindergarten early so she could have adult supervision. demi and mason tried to spend as much time as possible with her, but with both of them working now, they couldn’t provide full time care. demi was never fully alone in taking care of baby since her brother was with her every step of the way, but she justifiably felt very lonely during this time and like there was no way for her to ever be a good parent to baby with this kind of start. it was the kind of thing she just couldn’t imagine them ever recovering from

“It’s good to see you, Brooks.”
“It’s Cooper-“ Due to the shock, this was the only thing that Riley could mutter. Finally making eye contact, he gave her the refined look of innocence. “My surname is now, Cooper.”

Olivia Nevrakis was never one to leave the house without looking presentable. Her attire generally consisted of stiletto’s which matched anything that contained sequins. She always used to say that she wore these type of shoes for self defence. In the frantic attempt to catch up with Riley, this one time she accepted that sneakers would have to do.
“Where’s, Riley?” Liam questioned as he scrutinised the unusual appearance from their friend.
“I’m glad I’ve found you- I don’t know. I assumed that she came back here, to you both?”
“What do you mean, Olivia?” There was no need for an explanation- the figure that ambled towards them confirmed the reason behind Riley’s disappearance.
“What the fuck is he doing here?”
“It’s a free country, Linz…. Liam, looking good bro!”
“Listen to what I’m about to say, Drake.. I am not your ‘bro’…” Exaggerating the word ‘bro’, Drake took a big gulp as Liam squared up towards him. “If anything happens to Riley- I will kill you this time!”
“You haven’t got it in you, Li-“ The tension between the two old friends, could have exploded due to the overload of built up anger that had been formed over the years. Olivia ‘sacrificed’ herself, separating them both- as they continued providing death stares. Neither wanted to throw the first fist or insult any further- in that moment there was the realisation that they both wanted the same thing. For Riley to be found- safe. Drake stepped back, and to everybody’s surprise expressed a slight bit of remorse.
“I fucked up, Li. I know that. I regret it each and every day. At least she has Preston to look after her, he’s a lucky guy.”
“Preston is an intelligent and caring….” This slight description stabbed Drake in the heart- if given an opportunity Lindsey would continue to dig the ‘knife’ as revenge for the pain that he had caused her sister. “Preston… he’s… The most an amazing three year old.”
“Excuse me?”
“Preston is my nephew- Riley’s son.” Awareness had finally hit, Drake- he had his wires crossed. Wishing that he hadn’t mentioned Preston, the confirmation of his identity now pulled on his heartstrings. Concealing his true feelings, he nodded to the trio- before leaving without another word.
“Lindsey, Liam- myself and Drake… it’s not what you are both assuming. I would never do that to, Ri. I can explain. It was just bad timing.” Olivia pleaded her innocence- she now knew that the jetlag would have to be put on hold whilst she explained the unexpected return of Drake Walker.
****
January 3rd
Let’s try this again. Drama. Life is always full of it in my case. The life of Riley Brooks. It probably would make more entertainment than the Kardashian’s.
Alcohol acts in crazy ways. It affects people differently. It can make you feel invisible- or at least it did for me tonight. I still can’t remember how I had the energy or knowledge on how to get home safely. Walking up the drive, I noticed my snobby and nosey neighbours- Hannah and Neville peering out the window. My brain was informing me to provide them with the middle finger gesture. Instead I gave a friendly neighbour wave along with the biggest fake smile that I could provide. The curtain soon shut as the pair probably scurried away like the rats that they are. What dickheads. If I know Hannah well, I can predict that she will visit tomorrow with a basket full of freshly baked muffins waiting for the tea to be spilled. The women here believe that they are the real life ‘Desperate Housewives’. Riverside may appear to be a seemingly perfect neighbourhood but like Wisteria Lane - here it more than likely also hides; many secrets, crimes, forbidden romances and domestic struggles.
Betrayal. It can occur in different ways. But you never expect it to happen with people whom you loved. The same two people who you trusted with all your heart once upon a time.
My husband is as gorgeous inside as out. I’ve never once caught him looking at another woman. To be honest, I’ve never caught him in a lie- or had proof to prove any potential deceit. So what’s the problem?
“Honey, where are you?”
“I’m upstairs, Nate.”
“Ri, things have been super crazy at work. You have no idea.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. We’re talking post-merger madness. Everyone is just angling for a position. They are all trying to show off for the new boss, you know.” Katrina- fantastic, little miss perfect Katrina. You can say her name, Nate. “She’s great, she wants to do all the things that I want to do- but on a much larger scale.”
“Wow.” Attempting to show a slight bit of interest, Riley didn’t realise how sarcastic that she may have sounded.
“Yeah, people are swarming- but she sees me. She loves me.” Nate noticed that Riley was in a daze, as she didn’t respond to him immediately. Laying next to her, he planted an attentive kiss on her forehead. “What’s up?”
“Nothing. I just miss you.”
“Excuse me. It’s her.” Acting dumb, Riley knew exactly who was on the other line. It’s a bit late for a work business call. “It’s her, my boss…. I won’t be long, Ri…’Katrina, hey! How are you?’” Laughing during his conversation, Riley couldn’t remember the last time he had laughed like that towards her.
The problem for Katrina, Nate Cooper is married to me. Before I met him, I had been contorted into a high percentage of the positions in the Kama sutra. Shouldn’t we all? There was rich guys, poor guys, tattooed guys, the one night stand guys. Any kind of man. Do I sound like a whore?
“We’ll sit down tomorrow just you and I, to discuss it Kat. See you then, bye.” Kat? Pet names now. The old boss was known as Mr Wilson- not by first name terms.
“Told ya, Ri. She loves me.”
“Who doesn’t?” Riley replied again in a sarcastic type of way.
I bet people often wonder why I married some man who was so straight-laced as to say. Honestly, it’s because of all the past encounters- especially, Walker. My nerves were so shot by the time that I had met Nate. As I’ve said previously I was vulnerable. My heart was riding on fumes- the stability that he offered was a soothing balm. At the time, I wanted us to live for a hundred years and die at the exact same moment to avoid any pain. I hoped that our souls would find each other on the other side- if that truly exists. We could fall in love all over again….I just also want to fuck Nate’s brains out, mainly as a distraction from the impromptu night that I have just had. Is that too much to ask?
****
January 4th
Last night or rather this morning was a complete disaster… When you have the urge to fuck your partner- you need to do it there and then, right? Why is it so hard to both be in the mood at the same time once you are married with kids? The way things are at the moment, I feel I’m like a reborn virgin.
“I’m sorry, I forgot to ask. Ioana mentioned that Liam and Lindsey came over. You should have gone out.”
That supportive look that he provided, was the complete opposite of what he would have really expressed. If he knew the truth, the calmness of his voice would be a different matter. Is he a controlling husband? Maybe. Protective- yes. What he doesn’t understand, is that I need to let my hair down once in a blue moon.
“I wasn’t up to it.”
To prevent my lie from being exposed I turned my phone into ‘Do not disturb’ mode.
“Besides, you’re back now….”
I reach down, making the first move. Faking orgasms- does anyone else do this?
“It’s so good.”
“Sorry, Ri- I can’t…. I’m too tired.”
Drake would never do that. He would see to all my needs. Why am I comparing them?
“Pass me the vibrator.”
It’s been nearly two years since Nate went down on me for example. I grew an entire human being in my body in half of that time.
“For fuck sake!”
I feel like screaming, due to the frustration of not only Nate ‘dying’ on me but now B.O.B does it too.
“Fuck it.”
After a slight yawn followed by a stretch, Nate snuggled into Riley-completely oblivious to his wife’s dissatisfaction. “Night baby.”
It wasn’t always like this. As much as children are a blessing- is this the reason that explains the loss of Nate’s libido or is it truly down to his work load? The passion we had has now declined, faded into something that is now virtually non existent. This must be the definition of growing up; getting married and living the family routine with a waning passion. Now I’m starving. Internally screaming at him from inside my mind trying to make us feel - something. Love is a drug, that’s what they say- right? Adrenaline. I can get that feeling again, every time I close my eyes - going back to any one of those nights in the past- I feel it. It’s not some allusive high that I’m chasing- it is - or was, real. That was the other Riley Brooks- the true, me. A wild-child. How can a girl fuck up with every relationship? I don’t know how I manage to do it? Maybe I should have worked on my brief relationship with Liam- my now brother in law. But, that’s a different story which included a poor teenage waitress in a dive bar and Lady Liberty.
****
January 5th
For this entry, I cannot allow for it to be discovered by Nate.
Deceit- the act or practice of deceiving; concealment or distortion of the truth for the purpose of misleading; duplicity; fraud; cheating. For me, today is just not informing my husband about the full truth. It’s in my past and something that I don’t like to ponder about. I’m still living through this nightmare behind closed doors. If he was ever to ask the reasoning behind this date- I have Lindsey as ‘my excuse’. We have previously had a discussion - to get our stories straight if Nate was ever to discover the true events about this day. The fifth of January always creeps up, then it’s gone in an instant- until it reappears each year.
****
Slowly walking up the path, there was the sense of tranquility. Silent neighbours. The slight wind enabled the tree branches to sway in sync.
“Hey, Linz”
“About fucking time, Riley! I’ve been worried sick about you! Are you okay? I’ve tried ringing you-“
“I’ve had no missed-“ Riley soon remembered that she hadn’t deactivated the ‘Do Not Disurb’ mode on her phone.
“I’m fine- I just… every year, we always meet here at the same time. Where are you? Why have you put flowers down without me?”
“That’s what I’m trying to explain, I’m stuck in traffic. I’ve rang you a few times mainly about the delay but also to discuss about you leaving the other night without telling us.”
“Linz, if you didn’t put these flowers here- who did?”
“Riley-“
“Linz, I’ll ring you back.” Sensing company, Riley focused on the shadow hovering over her.
“There’s a bunch of New York’s finest flowers from, Olivia. She wasn’t sure if you wanted to see her or not as you haven’t returned any of her calls. So I offered to bring them…. It’s been too long since I’ve been here, myself.”
The callused hand gently removed the crinkly yet rusty coloured leaves that floated effortlessly in-front of them.
“The teddy is a gift from me. I hope that you don’t mind?”
Reaching out to the bear, Riley pulled it close to her chest- holding it tightly, it felt to her as if the world had just crashed. Again. The defence mechanisms that she would usually excel in, were now paper thin. Before she could have reacted, his hands gently drew her closer towards him as he knelt down to her level.
“Please…. Don’t touch me. I’m fine.”
The heat from this touch rapidly creeps into my consciousness - needing to pull away, I couldn’t. It’s like a magnet, drawing us closer- unable to separate this unexpected bond. Pulling his head back, he ran his hand through my hair before gently wiping away the tears that were now everlasting.
“You clearly aren’t fine, which is understandable. If you want me to go, I will.”
As I sink further into his torso attempting to hide my emotions, I inhale his aftershave- which has now sent me into a coma. My heart and brain have different scenarios imaged in my mind. What am I doing?
“You have a right to be here as much anyone- Drake.”

I couldn't take it, couldn't stand another minute
Couldn't bear another day without you in it
All of the joy that I had known for all my life
Was stripped away from me the minute that you died
To have you in my life was all I ever wanted
But now without you I'm a soul forever haunted
Can't help but feel that I had taken you for granted
No way in hell that I can ever comprehend this
These lyrics are about Salem, all the way back in Red like Roses, goddamn, sometimes RWBY is brilliant.
Sorry this took so long to answer-
I highly doubt that these lyrics are directly about Salem, since the rest of the song give it a tone of fresh, painful sorrow between a parent and child rather than the cold aching sorrow of a wife losing her husband.
What I do think is that RWBY has a strong sense of what it considers good and bad, at least from a narrative level. Dealing with the past and learning to move on is a huge theme in RWBY. Weiss does it with her family and her family image, learning to not let her abuse define her. Same with Blake, just centered around predjuice and a bitter break up of a former mentor and lover, learning to become a better person by overcoming her fear. Yang as well, dealing with her anger (a connection to her highly emotional mother) and her lost arm, adapting to it and surmounting the flaws that caused it. Hell, Jaune, Ren and Nora do it too.
And on the other side, you have Torchwick's obsession with survival consuming him to the point of killing him ironically. You have Emerald and Mercury, both trapped by their past lives and fighting against it as much as they can. You have Adam, who refused to move on from his scarring and the bile it caused until it killed him. You have Watts, a narcissistic genius who never got over how he was 'overlooked'. You have James, stuck in his tramua and need to be right even as letting go would make things better.
Even the more ambiguous characters have this. Qrow does his best but he lets his Semblance determine his worldview, a very self destructive worldview. Only getting better after he started to let go of that. Ozpin tried his best and is a genuinely good man, but he's still stuck in place after centuries of fighting with his issues eroding what good points he makes. Hazel was only ever a truly good character when he stopped shutting away his pain and finally decided to honor his sister's memory rather than grieving eternally,
And then we have Ruby and Salem. One who lost her mother before she even got to know her, constantly having to overcome stupidly difficult obstacles and god knows how much more loss but nevertheless perseveres to do the good she sees in the world. And one who lost her husband before she could live a life with him, went through great lengths to get him back...and caused unfathomable amounts of pain and suffering, still being as the girl stuck in the tower.
I think what you're seeing is the applicability between Ruby and Salem's lives. Because as most heroes and villains, they reflect each other and showcase what makes them different.
Ruby kept moving forward.
Salem stopped in place.

The Worst Blowjob I Ever Gave
Most people have a type of person they're attracted to. This is just normal personal preference, utterly mundane. However, there is the far less common, possibly supernatural inverse- a specific type that is attracted to you. For a friend of mine, that type is hyperspecific: brunette female social workers named Mary who wear glasses. So, when my friend Mary said she was going into social work, I advised her to stay away from him lest she be drawn into his particular gravity well. This story, however, is not about him.
See, the type of man who is attracted to me is best described as "dudes who figured out I was bi a long time before I did." (It's no wonder that, since coming out, my already sparse romantic prospects dried up near-entirely.) It was one such man who received the worst blowjob I have ever given.
I was in my first year of college before I dropped out, in the midst of a deep, deep depression and subsequent ego death. Ego death, as I've had it explained to me, is the complete and utter loss of your sense of self. I knew on an academic level that I was Alan Aubrey, but I couldn't make the connection between me and the thing that stared out at me from the mirror. So, knowing that, I'm sure you understand the lengths to which I was willing to go to feel human again.
I met him at a party that I didn't really want to go to. I'm not sure what drew him to me, as I was sitting on a couch and staring deeply into a red solo cup filled with equal parts Mountain Dew and Smirnoff, which I had only taken to be polite. He was your stereotypical frat boy. Picture a frat boy in your mind. Yep, that's him. In part to protect his privacy, and in part because I've forgotten his name, we'll call him Chunt. Chunt was dressed in salmon-colored shorts and a lime green polo with the collar popped up. Christ, he was wearing fucking *loafers.* We got to talking, or rather he started talking to me and I occasionally interjected with a question or a joke. I was nervous both because of the unique combination of anxiety, ego death, and an autism-spectrum disorder and because I was noticing him in a way I had only noticed a few guys before.
I won't bore you with my extremely awkward attempts at flirtation, but an hour or so later we were in his dorm room, watching a pirated version of John Wick with Polish subtitles that could not be disabled. It was exactly like every other date you go on in college: Hanging out in a dorm room identical to your own, on a mattress exactly like your own, making out and only half paying attention to one of the most influential action blockbusters of the last decade. Eventually, he got his dick out, as one does.
It's worth noting, dear reader, that I had never given a blowjob before. I resolved to give it my level best and hoped that it would awaken some innate dick-sucking talent within me. Five minutes later, it had not. Ten minutes later, he was watching Fortnite clips on his phone. He didn't even nut. Do you know how humiliating it is to have one of the most stereotypically horny demographics on a college campus get bored of you sucking him off? Eventually, realizing my ministrations were doing more harm than good, I excused myself and exited Chunt's life forever.
I like to think that it was something like Robert Downey Jr. turning his life around and getting off hard drugs after eating a really bad cheeseburger. Maybe my futile attempts at fellatio somehow changed the trajectory of his life, hopefully for the better. I hope that he at least came to a realization, if not to my efforts. Perhaps he's on a different path now, but I'll never know and I don't particularly want to. I think it's best for both of us to leave that behind. Wherever Chunt is now, I wish him the best, and thank him for helping me realize that I am in fact bisexual, and also that I have standards.

BROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. that was so much and all of it was v v v appreciated like???? i have like no friends who fuck with star wars beyond the mandalorian so hearing what you love about cal and the games is SO refreshing like yes!!! he def gives off Ellie vibes in the sequel, like obv they have both been through very different traumas and have had their own experiences but there’s just something special about these characters who go through loss and depression and desperation and decide to just keep fucking things up as they go along because they CAN and that means they’re alive and as long as they’re alive, then they’ve got a chance. and it’s just. so good to see. plus that tank top will be the END OF ME i stg i’ve put in so many hours just messing around watching him and his arms and i will go on forever if you let me. and i def want you to go on forever. but yes he and merrin should get at least one little kiss. as a reward. just a wee one. also - mullet cal. yea or nay? OH AND have you read the novel battle scars?? there’s a whole novel that came out between both games
first of all NO HOLY SHIT okay I'm gonna read that after i finish the game for sure. i have not delved into the star wars novels (though playing survivor is making me want to start the high republic stuff especially to prep for the acolye but god there are so many).
i love star wars! i am a lore girlie i've seen everything but rebels which i'm finishing now and the current season of bad batch and ahsoka (wanted to watch rebels first). i think the lore of the games is fascinating and to hear how they are made and all the rules the creators have to follow (did you know that if you create a new planet in a star wars story you have to make an entirely unique and complete biosphere for that planet?? like, climate patterns, animals, plants, everything. its so fucking cool). (EDIT: my fave show is probably andor because of how deep the lore is and how actually like, radical the storyline and the points it makes are? not what i expected from disney).
mullet cal. listen, i keep trying to put him in the swoopy hair but i keep going back to the survivor cut with the shorted beard cause that just HITS for me. he's so handsome and also needs to stop flirting with everyone. (if he and merrin don't kiss DONT tell me. i want to live in hope.)
there’s just something special about these characters who go through loss and depression and desperation and decide to just keep fucking things up as they go along because they CAN and that means they’re alive and as long as they’re alive, then they’ve got a chance.
^^ i love this!! this is so astute and rings really true to me. cal does mess up a lot but he takes ownership of it and the people around him rally behind him whenever he needs help (the found family of pyloon's is killing me). i love cal so much and i am so afraid for him because i don't know how much he values his own life beyond what he can achieve in fighting the empire. i guess we'll see!!!!!

1st re-watch: Eternal Yesterday episode 8 (finale)
(To read from the beginning, please see 1st re-watch: Eternal Yesterday Episode 1)
I'm bawling my eyes out. The ending is both beautiful and devastatingly sad. And Mitsuru's father, who has seemed distant until now, really comes through as a caring father.
We open with the sound of the rain outside. The sound is not delayed the way it was in the first episode. But we are inside, and it is in the background, as Koichi and Mitsuru are in Mitsuru's bedroom, sitting on opposite sides of Mitsuru's bed.
I've written before that when we don't get the NC-17 scenes, it's not necessarily clear what has happened. With sex in Bad Buddy, it wasn't clear to me when they started having sex or who was taking the lead before the sex in episode 11 if they were having sex earlier. And I had some similar confusion in Eternal Yesterday as well.
Spoilers follow
I noted in an earlier episode review my discomfort at what appeared to be dubious consent. And, because of the cut, we didn't see how far they went. But at the start of 8, we have them both say this is their first time. So, aside from sex being such a large category that it doesn't necessarily have to involve penetration, so we can still say they probably had some manner of sex in the earlier episode, this is apparently their first (and last) intercourse. And it is a way of them saying goodbye forever (to be in person with each other) and to cement their dedication to each other.
So, rather than being a wild event (which Koichi's body would not be up to anyway) it is almost certainly infused with grief and sadness, and love. Again, there is a cut. We are told they kissed and kissed and became one. That's fine with me. I don't have to see the sex, I just want to have some idea of what happened.
Actually, it's a little unclear, as it seemed they already had intercourse between the pre-roll and post opening credits. But the difference is that the first is before Koichi basically asks Mitsuru to let Koichi fully die and the second is after they have come to the understanding that Koichi does get to fully die.
During this, Mitsuru as narrator acknowledges to us that he has been the one keeping Koichi "alive." He apologizes to Koichi in the narration but can't bring himself to say it out loud.
And then Koichi, in tears says he can't do this living corpse thing any more. It is devastating.
Inoue Sora, the actor playing Mitsuru, does this thing with a nose twitch, as if Mitsuru is trying to gather up the strength to do right by Koichi. And he does. He turns to face Koichi, tells Koichi it's okay, and promises to remember him for the rest of Mitsuru's life.
Mitsuru indicates he wants to kiss, and they do kiss. It's not the intense, active kiss in Bad Buddy episode 5, not even close. It's quite simple. But it is very intentional and I would argue it is not in any way a dead fish kiss.
Koichi says "Mitchan, let's make love" (making the earlier "my first time" scene ambiguous) and Mitsuru nods in assent. Consent! Yay!
We see the next morning Mitsuru and his father in the kitchen/dining area. Mitsuru's father tells Mitsuru about his wife's/Mitsuru's mother's death and some matters surrounding his upbringing. He then makes it clear (in that roundabout way I understand is popular in the Japanese language) that he's aware that Koichi was a living corpse, and that the same thing happened to Mitsuru's mother.
He then basically tells Mitsuru he can be in pain over Koichi's death as long as he wishes. This is a loving dad who both accepts his son's gayness and cares about Mitsuru's loss, and places the dad in the pantheon of caring parents of QL queers. Mitsuru breaks down sobbing as his father pats him gently on the head and goes off to work.
We jump to five years later. Mitsuru revisits places that he and Koichi went to, including the camping trip. He is camping for two, and this is his solo version of the two of them camping as adults that we have been seeing in the closing credits for the entire series. We realize that what we saw in the credits is what Mitsuru sees in his mind as how life would be like if Koichi were still with him.
He takes out a photo Tanaka took of Koichi and Mitsuru in the biology classroom, a photo that shouldn't exist but does (as noted by @chickenstrangers in Time and Grief in Eternal Yesterday). And he says that, despite Koichi's wish that he might have two number ones, Koichi is still and will always be Mitsuru's only number one.
Will he wind up like Tanaka, unable to stay in a relationship because he is carrying a torch for his dead lover? Or will he be like his father, who eventually finds a new love? We don't get to see. I imagine it will be a challenge, given that Mitsuru is socially queer as well, although he is apparently still in touch with his classmates.
What we do see in the last 4 to 5 minutes is Koichi's side of the story, about his background, of his starting his relationship with Mitsuru. And his kiss goodbye as he is about to leave to place his dead body in the field where he landed after being hit by that truck.
And we go to the closing credits where we see them together five years later, on the camping trip in Mitsuru's mind.
A fine, fine series, even if I couldn't always understand it.
With the content warning for subject matter, those wound-stitching scenes, and that it's a total tearjerker, highly recommended.

Reviewing the All Elite Wrestling personnel 2023 Edition (Part 0) -
New to this? Please refer to https://dreadwhoop.tumblr.com/post/697331836428353536/reviewing-the-all-elite-wrestling-personnel-2022 to recap 2022 or understand what this is all about.
Tumblr media
Yeah. Where to start?
A brief rundown. Usually these go out around the anniversary of the weekly TV show AEW Dynamite. Here I'll ruminate the overview between last year and this year. After we'll address the roster's ratings and then who to PUSH or GET RID OF and then, if I can, some other factors to complete the annual review. This will likely be a lighter affair than the previous years since I echo the sentiments said before and, as a principled individual, don't like changing my mind once committed to an ideal - if it's good it's good if it's bad it's bad I'll continue regardless. Having said this, every time I publish a PUSH or GET RID OF list I never change the decision or repeat it so you'll always see new entrants. Anyways let's move on!
Tumblr media
Since last year we've seen the end of AEW Dark and AEW Dark Elevation and in return the inclusion of AEW Collision as weekly offerings alongside Dynamite and Rampage. The videogame AEW Fight Forever also released this year after significant delays which makes certain roster inclusions oddities as a result. By far though the most important day for AEW was All In at Wembley Stadium - their biggest event to date by far.
Tumblr media
AEW continues to find a measure of success in places, put on some notable matches, and effectively make 2023 the defining year where MJF is the major draw which is why it'll be a bad blow to the company upon his inevitable departure following the firing of CM Punk and loss of Jade Cargill, two names they built up strong, whilst keeping under contract even more names than ever before. Here's something to look over with the documentation done over these 4 years. If you regard official active wrestlers, we've gone from 79 in 2019-2020 to 108 in 2020-2021 to 132 in 2021-2022 to now 156 in 2022-2023. Rumours of Tony Khan buying New Japan Pro Wrestling, Shimmer, and other shows as he did with Ring of Honor only dillutes the waters further. Let's make one thing clear - you only have a roster this bloated if you expect them to get injured so you can substitute someone else in, talent be damned. Dante Martin took a bump which effectively renders his past career over whilst Jon Moxley took a nasty stinger and now both AEW's cornerstone and capstone are sidelined leaving Tony Khan to DANCE WITH GARCIA BABY LET'S FORGET THE BAD TIMES LET'S DANCE BABY!
Tumblr media
Moving on…
Tumblr media
This whole story with MJF and Adam Cole bromance better end with MJF and Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. being together and, for both their sakes, in WWE with her as his valet who wrestles too. MJF goes on about being a generational talent well it's only proven by having an incredible 2nd-generation talent with someone also talented especially after the botching of her 'abuse victim' T-Shirt. Anything less is fraud on the payoff and no don't feel sorry for Adam Cole because what they should of done with him was not what happened and instead has dragged MJF down to a level which insults the intelligence of its audience and his ability.
Tumblr media
I want people to direct their attention to Netflix's documentary on OVW (Ohio Valley Wrestling) and how, despite the distance in audience and finance, the same problems in OVW crop up in AEW: lack of new fans. Retaining an audience is one thing but genuine interest is floundering. It's also worth noting the only difference between the success and failure of a promotion is how much revenue it has - OVW could be given a billion dollars and achieve just as much success as AEW so keep it in mind - context matters. Mahabali Shera is great would love to see him in AEW doing well. I'd also recommend Hollyhood Haley J, if only to get her to catering to get a decent meal because she's painfully thin and understand why, but you'd have to steer her to get the best from what could be a huge draw - making her lean into saying Tammy Sytch is her hero, got 'a-head' using Al Snow to work her way up, and generally make her an outrageous antithesis to Toni Storm who wants to be regarded as a star whilst Haley wants to burn everyone like a star or Julia Hart who plays at the darkness whilst she breathes it. Neither will reach the platform of WWE without a proving ground like AEW to see how well they thrive with established talents. Like Brian Pillman Jr. and Dark Side of the Ring, they can't afford to miss on such opportunities given the buzz. Hire some talent from OVW Tony.
Tumblr media
Finally want to mention the series Markyd123 was doing on AEW was refreshing, as we need new takes, but of course the fanbase ran his interest off. Great job guys - let's continue to sabotage diverse voices whilst pretending we want diversity. As paraphrased by a relevant person to this conversation, you're either growing or you're dying. We'll see which AEW is come next annual review.
