I have come up with a question.

Who I'd your favorite Genshin character and why?

By reading your fics I can't tell if it's zhongli or childe.

i do love childe don't get me wrong; i just love zhongli far more

as for why, i wouldn't know how to word it in a way that wouldn't take me any less than writing CN took me LMAO the reason why you might think childe is up there among my favorites (he is, he's just not as close to the top as you might think) i'd assume is probably because of the fics, yes? but the thing about the fics is while i've already mentioned i'm not exactly projecting onto childe nor, god forbid, using him as a self-insert for the author – i am more or less of the opinion that the way childe would love zhongli in a story would more often than not align quite well with the way i myself love zhongli as a character. (which is why i find bgtea's eoos and jouicifer's npc so interesting) so like- the reason why childe is usually the main pov character for my zhongchi fics is because i get to write how much i love zhongli as a concept via the lens of a character who would also love him in a similar fashion; only i also get to spice it up with childe's own character quirks, bc i think he's fascinating as well, just in a different direction. that might be why i've yet to write a zhongli pov zhongchi: not as easy to write about how much i love the character's concept if he himself is the pov, and i feel like zhongli's way of loving childe as a concept wouldn't be able to fill a fic the same way it does the other way around. not that he doesn't love him! i just haven't figured out how to write that pov for that long yet. if you're curious, i'd have to say my current favorites list goes kind of like this: zhongli way ahead of all the others, then wriothesley and neuvillette around the same realm, then navia, then kuki, then baizhu, then childe, and then like- in no particular order, furina, clorinde, diluc, jean, qiqi, xiao, xingqiu, chongyun, beidou, fischl, thoma, ayato, layla, yanfei, yaoyao, dehya, shenhe and most of the others. also to the side there'd be alhaitham, separate from the list, bc i love him but i also detest him in a particular way. i guess pity him is a better word, watching how the fandom treats him feels like taking physical dmg. if you're thinking of a particular artist like an outlier you're probably wrong, but i'm not going to point fingers bc why would i do that. (i do have a handful of characters i dislike but in the spirit of not being an asshole i'm just not going to list them)

anyway- yeah that's pretty much it;; maybe one day i'll make a zhongli pov zhongchi and it'd be a bit clearer what i mean by that, but you know me, i don't control the inspiration ToT

You know what one of the skills of a good baker is? Being able to follow a recipe.

You know what's NOT a good recipe? 'make a lemon meringue pie'.

Even if you've made a lemon meringue pie hundreds of times before, even if you know how to do it, there are things you have to consider, like ingredient amounts, bake time, accounting for baking with a different oven and possibly different temperatures, using tools you may not typically be used to using to make your pie, a TIME CONSTRAINT that may not match what you usually use.

A decent recipe would provide that information. A paired down recipe should at least give you more than 'make the fucking pie'. It should at LEAST give you amounts to work with. Or an oven temperature. Or both.

It should, at the VERY FUCKING LEAST. GIVE YOU AN INGREDIENT LIST.

Every time I think the technical challenges might be improving or might be something that actually represents technical skills a baker should know even if the recipe itself is unfamiliar, they do something like this. Or like having tacos bring your technical for a baking show. Or tossing in maid of honor tarts that nobody has literally ever heard of. Or expecting a bagel to be crunchy and being surprised when a babka is on the heavy side. Or. You know. Most of the technical challenges in the last few seasons.

Prue and Paul are awful people for doing this. The showrunners should have put a leash on them to stop them from making the technical a nightmare ages ago. Especially when, half the time, it doesn't seem to factor into the judging (remember Helena winning technical on the week she left?).

I understand the showstoppers being intricate and insane (to a degree, the portrait cakes were a mistake), because they're showstoppers. They're supposed to be special and elaborate and not something you make every day. I understand the signature parameters. They might not always be simple but they're things people know how to do.

The technical? I have NO IDEA what the technical means anymore, beyond pain and making the bakers suffer and turning their work into a big joke.

i dont currently plan to get more isopods but dreamy species (that are actually within reach. So none of those adorable spiky ones like shiny gators, ancient gators, thai spikies... Just absurdly expensive and hard to get) are uhhhh:

armadillidium cf espanyoli “marbelized”

(pic source) i just loooove the patterning its so pretty ive seen some really stunning ones in pictures too. theyre really tiny apparently. i already think my cappuccinos are tiny and theyre like twice the size of the marbles from what i can tell. itd be cool to have more Sizes u kno. these are the most tempting to me like if i was looking for another species to keep or if i had more room. itd definitely be these. great combo of beautiful pod and not so expensive or notoriously hard to work with or anything.

(pic source) theyre BIG fuckers!!!! not as big as hoffmanseggi but preddy big and very flat and i like their big exopods/uropods (?) (the funky tail things the guys have longer ones of) allso. isolated from the general porcellio expansus from spain which is sometimes calld the beetlejuice isopod and i have brain rot. They do have such cute little striped black and white antennae though, see? 

A strain like autumnal equinox is also tempting but..... idk

(pic source) arent they stunning. ok so i want one of the yellowy ones i think theyre cute but it could be lemon blues it could be jupiters it could be some rendition of the bees. rubber bees, emperor bees, bumble bees.

(pic source) this is actually a really commonly available mix and was almost my first set before i got that absurd deal on my cappuccinos. I just love how rich and deep the colors are and they all complement each other so well. there are other mixes of other species like ‘lotto ticket’ and ‘party mix’ but the gem mix is so pretty to me

armadillidium nasatum “peach” - absurdly cute to me. such a pretty color and such nice markings. not SUPER up my alley in terms of what id want to keep but just so nice to look at. if i had space and saw a good deal. itd be tempting.

cubaris sp. “pak chong” - they are also. so cute. they were actually one of the other ones i was considering as my first isopods, the reptile store in my area has some (as well as that gem mix) but i had been worried they would be too hard to care for (and then i went for the theoretically Harder to care for cappuccinos anyway so i had to level up my isopod keeping really fast and early for those little thangs) anyway i like their little red face and butt.

venezillo parvus “kumquat” - maybe i just like the food names especially. bc i have cappuccinos and chocolate zebras at home. but also a lot of morphs have food names. They are just so so cute conglobated and they are teeny tinys. i like their coloration and markings. this section is kind of repetitive now that i think about it

cubaris sp “white shark” - literally would be on the list but theyre just so tinys. idk why but them being tiny seems like a big L in this case but in other cases a species is tinys and im like. epic....

re: netflix shenanigans, i was looking for a particular danhan quote about netflix but 1) well i did actually eventually find the interview i was looking for -- where danhan states he was asked to be less involved later on in the show 2) also wound up rereading the joe tracz interview from after s3 where he talks a lot about the writing process on the show and tv in general/the direction the show went requiring more of a visual mystery and answers, and not necessarily who did what in the writer’s room but also, who did what (like danhan being the one to remove widdershins) 3) ALSO found an interview from last year where danhan himself talked a little about adaptations of his work with some interesting statements:

I want to ask about actually seeing your work on screen and having it adapted. Is it still your work when you see it translated? What is your relationship with your work once it goes off the page?

The big difference is that for something, particularly for something that is as enormously and lavishly done as in the Snicket media, it’s very collaborative. It helps to be collaborative, you know? I mean, not just the writing of the screenplays, but there’s people acting out words and there are people building the sets and there are people composing the music and playing the music and recording the music – every little piece of it is immensely collaborative, and so the whole thing is very collaborative.

I’m always really interested to see what people are doing. It was really nice to go to the set of Netflix and talk with some of the costume designers just about how happy they were to get to make things up. You know? One of them said, I’ve done so many cop shows. I’m so tired of sitting in a room and talking about what sweater a famous person is going to wear, just the idea that now I get to build these ridiculous things is what I’ve always wanted to do. And that kind of makes me happier than anything involved with me about it. I was tempted to give the answer, “No, it’s not my work anymore,” but that sounds more negative about it than I feel. What I feel is I love to see people run with things, and who have thought a lot about what the source material is and take it from there. And some people are more positive than others, and then sometimes the results are not as lovely as I would hope for, but I just think watching people make hay with it is the most interesting part for me.
