#just cuz there's SO MUCH potential for interesting storytelling there
Text
One thing thats been bothering me since I started acomaf is that in that book theres so much emphasis was put on not only people potentially wanting kidnap and/or assault Feyre for powerful children, but specifically powerful sons cuz its a hyperpatriarchal society now and girls dont matter and then in ACOSF she. gets a son. while shes also high lady of the court that arguably has the biggest misogyny problem in Prythian. Like, yeah, in-universe there was a 50/50 chance i guess but out-of-universe thats just bad storytelling
Heres what I personally would find more interesting: Nyx is born afab but transitions into a guy later in life. Feyre and Rhys are like "okay, thats good now if we bury the fact that he was born female he can atleast be a respected politician in the Night Court, but since he wont inherit the high lord power we still either need to have another child to make sure the power doesnt go to Kier or figure something else out quick" and then they die without having another child or figuring something else out, but. the power still goes to Nyx. He sees the injustices of this fucked up patriarchal society so he starts being very vocal about being born female as high lord and is basically like "hey, this obviously means that we were wrong on some level about (biological) males always being more magical or blessed by the Mother or whatever, maybe it doesnt actually matter and we should stop treating our women like shit" It causes nationwide chaos, countless debates about gender and transgenderism and atleast four major religious schisms

If you get the time and inclination pls do share with us your beef with the existing zombie apocalypse genre, I have my own feelings about it (I think it overshadows other types of fictional apocalypses a bit too much in most ppl's heads) but I'd love hearing someone else's take on it (and also how you would improve the genre if you like :3 )
Tumblr media
oh ABSOLUTELY it does! One way its probably the easiest type of apocalypses to write abt just cuz there’s already so many and such an established I guess wwww scenario and tropes to it (?) In consequence bc of how ‘easy’ it is, it becomes so damn samey and the zombie apocalypse genre (and apocalypses genres as a whole) gets such bad rep for that reason. [The rest atp is me ranting abt zombie apocalypses specifically those are the ones I have beef with]
When I ask ppl why they don’t like apocalyptic stories most answers is just the amount of carnage that’s in them it’s horrible— to put it better: unnecessary violence in an already terrible world is what they think abt. When people think of apocalypse stories they think of the movies made in Hollywood. Muscular, American white man whos good at everything who kicks ass and saves the world singlehandedly. And the rep for zombie-driven games aren’t any better either… Not saying that stories of kicking ass taking names are ALL bad but most of it is very surface level reasoning as to why . That being said I wish there was more focus on mental health in zombie stories, realisations that the world ended and they’ll never go back to how it was before, instances of the struggles of learning how to adapt to this new way of living. There’s many topics that could be discussed and so many themes that haven’t been fully developed (or done poorly) in zombie apocalypses but seldom media’s deliver u_u
I think the zombie stories that stand out to me the most are the ones that revolve around normal people. There’s an vid essay somewhere that talks abt the success of Train to Busan as a movie, it’s still just as action packed as the ones above but it’s also rly freaking emotional as the characters and cultural themes they represent can hit p close to home for the target demographic. Also I cannot recommend enough Gakkou Gurashi (School Live)! It’s almost never talked about solely cuz of Episode 1 and even now I’m trying to be as vague as I can Please watch that anime/manga you will not regret it.
And finally worldbuilding always a sucker for worldbuilding I need more of it. Not how to stop it but more of How The Hell we fucked up that badly to ended up in this situation. Give me zombie stories of patient 0s, pov scientists fumbling in the lab etc I want THAT. I freaking love the worldbuilding in The Last of Us , such a unique way in designing zombies inspirations from real life (I believe funghi that controls dead ants). That freaking hospital part in TLOU2 will always have a lasting impression on me the environmental storytelling of the flooded hospital and the whole backstory of how the Rat King came to be an amalgamation of all the victims of Seattle’s Patient 0 zone forced to fuse because of the such claustrophobic and wet conditions of the basement OHMYFUCKINGVGG its so well thought out.
Overall my frustrations with apocalypses is just - the amount of untouched potential and themes that SHOULD be addressed but aren’t - to get creative with it. And even without mention of the worldbuilding stories of the average joe like u and I trying to do smth as ‘simple’ as going to the store but there are mental and physical struggles along the way would be fine too - u don’t need to fly a jet and shoot a rocket launcher to make things interesting. Relatability and/or creativity is what I wish.
[this was so fun to think abt anon if u have things u wanna share feel free to shoot another ask I’m all ears!]

no spoilers but regardless of all the issues hyv has with the character designs, I cant deny that the archon quest was AMAZING imo! especially the second part with you-know-what ;) the writing and storytelling for this specifically was phenomenal and it’s def keeping me on my toes. I know a lot of ppl might dislike there being so much dialogue but the situation itself was SO out of the blue that it kept me reading even though I usually tend to briefly look and skip (unless it’s one of my fav chars). Also, learning all the new mechanics in Sumeru in the process kept it interesting I still haven’t even opened all the waypoints so I’m excited to explore more! the music is amazing too i just wish they did better with the characters :( so much potential lost cuz they refuse to give darker skin tones, esp when chars like Candace are BASED on ppl with dark skin

you know i was really liking htn until close to the end but um answering none of the larger questions about the world or universe and seemingly the only big standing question from last book answered being gideons parentage which i honestly didnt care that much about like ok whatever but idk very odd that its hit potentially apocalyptic stakes and idk u dont even know like what the empire is who they are fighting why they are fighting let alone the potential stakes of the emperors death like obviously there must be some lies whatever but i dont even feel like i have a grasp on this universe to like actually understand why any of this matters and frankly the john mercymorn augustine drama feels very interesting but like we are simply jumping in at the end of something that i wish i knew like what lead to it more seriously tho i get the impression thats gonna be in the next book but i think its just this kinda backwards storytelling style and realizing the series isnt even over so god knows when a lot of these fairly fundemental questions are gonna be answered so like the whole the lyctoral process might be a lie reveal im like ok and.... i think i may need to seek out quite a lot of spoilers or something for ntn cuz alfkkakfks idk if i can keep all this shit in my head much longer idk its a series that might be gratifying to reread but idk a lot of these fundemental shifts arent really foreshadowed or framed as mysteries to figure out so i dont even really bother guessing i think the only one i did bother guessing was gideons parentage when the blood ward was mentioned but again im like ok and? This feels more like a joke about the empire strikes back and a key to the tomb than something that means anything

i think my thing about dean's whole like. deal. is that, especially in the context of the last couple of seasons where chuck-as-storyteller is represented as actively villainous, there is so much potential to say some really interesting things about like.
what happens to a person (who already has control issues) when every time he has a serious disagreement about how to handle a situation with someone, the world is rewritten to be in agreement with his opinion. Like if every single time your 'gut intuition' proves correct and the other person is wrong to a degree that jeopardises the entire world it makes sense that you would become increasingly more pigheaded about things.
and conversely if every time you disagree with a particular person about serious issues, no matter how sensible your perspective, you end up facing cosmic consequences, it makes sense that you would find it harder and harder to stick to your guns about things.
and i just think it would have been so interesting if the chuck big bad plot line had included the reveal that lilith being the final seal was rewritten to make sam wrong. or the leviathan were written into the story to create more negative consequences for cas' actions. because in both of those cases it felt like the narrative justification for dean being in the right and the other person being wrong was that there were completely unforeseeable consequences which no one involved knew about or were considering when they were disagreeing.
season 4 is a little more complicated for me cuz i do think there were reasonable arguments for both dean and sam's perspectives HOWEVER dean did not actually say any of the reasonable arguments available to him and also the actual thing that makes sam 'in the wrong' is making killing lilith a bad thing which like. they both wanted to do that sam was just more successful than dean so like?

Tell me your interests *Blink blonk* :]
guuuuuhhhh at the moment I’ve been in interest purgatory (only having day long hyperfixations besides a few personal projects) but the little interests I’ve had (and some of the overarching ones) aaare:
-writing!!! I’ve loved writing ever since I was a little lad (and not very good at it) I’ve just got a lot of stories to tell and a lot of works I like to edit. I like to think I’m good at critique and storytelling maybe
-My Life the Musical by Maryrose Wood (it’s a book) THIS HAD SO MUCH POTENTIAL I THINK ABOUT IT EVERY DAY!!!!! Looping back to writing I’ve been working on rewriting this because it’s genuine insanity but it had so much potential to be great
-Bronies: the Musical (this time an actual musical) it’s all Instagram’s fault really if they didn’t put the song Sad Trombone up then I wouldn’t have started deep diving. It’s like a music lovechild of Rockabye and Be More Chill with the plot of that one Shrek the Musical song (which is to say, let your freak flag fly)
-Vast Error is kind of a reoccurring one that comes back to haunt me every so often (along with its predecessor…) because I like the art and the writing! It’s a bit of an exposition slog sometimes but overall the art is aesthetically pleasing and it’s always a fun reread
-object shows HEAR ME OUT sorry guys I’ve returned to my roots (middle school) because I’ll think for a second and then I’ll blank out and all of a sudden BFDI is playing and I’m drawing objects with limbs like I’m a seventh grader again. Yay!
-video essays, not really a standard interest but I just like watching and writing them what can I say
-theatre!!! Every time I find a new thing to perform in it’s always on my mind for the entire duration of it. (Instrumental music is in the same boat here)
-of Montreal (like the music artist) I have NOT been able to stop listening to their early albums I am SUCH a huge fan they are so whimsical I highly recommend Cherry Peel, The Gay Parade, and Coqueliot Asleep In The Poppies: A Variety of Whimsical Verse
-Gezebelle Gaburgably, also a music artist I couldn’t get them out of my head for WEEKS like I went on a spree and exclusively listened to Gezebelle for a while. Same thing happened with speedcore/gabber (SPECIFICALLY the “furry” speedcore/gabber (femtanyl, mailpup, etc) because DAMN they can make music) last week
-music in general actually I’m such a music fan I love songs and leitmotifs and all the silly things
-Celeste (game) I love a good platformer that I’m super bad at with an underlying transgender message. Hell yeah.
-horror as a genre it captivates me I strive to be a good horror writer one day even if I never publish anything
-news and journalism DESPITE how much I dunk on my journalism class (iykyk) I LOVE news and I love learning about current events and formulating opinions and politics and stuff
-any book I’ve read in the past month that I enjoyed. So like Perks of Being a Wallflower, Read Between the Lines, MLTM (to an extent), and maybe some others. Just NOT Romeo and Juliet I know it’s a play but I HATED it so much I had to read it for a class it made me want to rip my hair out
-obscure media. Don’t go around calling me a quirkster because I say I like obscure things, they just float to me. I’m like that meme of Marge Simpson holding a potato, I just think they’re neat. The way I worded it is also an oversimplification cuz I don’t like it for the obscurity this is just so it lumps everything together so you don’t have to read more because I am a gabber and will not shut up if given the opportunity
Guuuuhhhh sorry this was a lot of yammering on my end

for your consideration: jewish holmes and watson (which would also blend nicely with a modern fuck the police, stick up for the little guy interpretation)
Ok, this is going to be an interesting one to answer, cuz i just learned i had some opinions i did not know about before and can not explain? So this is equally both a Friendly Geekout with your idea and Introspecting My Gut Feelings Together.
EDIT: oh my fucking god this got SO long it's like seven posts i'm sorry.... I'll put it under a cut and i'm not really in the mindspace to Trim but i'll try format it more. readable. but no one alive should have to read this if you don't feel like it haha it is WORDY
I love Jewish Watson :D idk why i just do. look at him he's such a mensch <3
Actually a while back @two-nipples-maybe-more and I discussed possibilities for Jewish Watson in the victorian setting, including "Mary Is Actually Miriam*, And he initially wants to convert to marry her and gets Attached to both some of the ideas and v much the COMMUNITY of it all." they even made me this coolest art ever for my birthday!!
*(there WAS a fairly assimilated, middle-class community of sepharadic jews in victorian london even before all the Eastern Europe Ashki emigration, and it might even be possible to wiggle in Non-Orthodoxism too)
Anyways i have a lot of thoughts about jewish Watson (and jewish Watsons plural. in this house we love Mary) in various historical, half historical, and modern variations, and just to top it off I'll mention- I watched Great Mouse Detective for the first time this week and I was overjoyed that.... well. I know Christians Can Be Called David Too and it's Not Actually A Jewish Name but doctor David W. Dawson is a jewish mouse and you cant change my mind.
ok now we reach the more, Introspective part because for some reason I personally not only can't entirely envision a jewish Holmes- i have NO idea why my brain/gut just insists something is off with the vibes- I think i am kind of attached to exploring how Holmes is not only culturally christian but seems to, like, underneath It All, kinda cares about it too.
I read him as christian in canon and fro mthe way he talks about his belief**, and I am kinda, happy with it and interested in seeing more of it? Like, Actual Christian Spirituality as more than default-settings is cool and worthy and interesting, especially from a complex, queer, place and honestly the idea of an analytical and logical character who is Religious With Little Question And Little Struggle is an interesting and entirely realistic one that doesn't get done nearly enough.
I love the Thinky, Analytical aspects of judaism but they're not right for everyone, even not analytic people, and i don't think he would vibe with the philosophizing-ness of talmud, asking for asking's sake, thinking in god.
(Which! btw! I think Watson would end up enjoying! he's a people person and a storyteller and canonically is interested in philosophy stuff and i think he would enjoy participating in Shiurim!)
I guess I am personally more interested in he possibilities of exploring the Religiously Christian potential already in Holmes more than a Jewish one, so cheers if that's your cup of tea but idk, for some reason I don't feel about this as much as I thought I would.
**(here's a batch of quotes i found on the web- ignore the writer's opinions, i just like it as a neat reminder and collection of little things in the books that helps see the bigger picture.)
He would be a good Ally And Friend tho, and i think would vibe with some very very handpicked ideas. Once again I am super sorry for this getting so long haha. Have this for a nice dessert:
Tumblr media
[ID: a screenshot of a discord message by me, titled simply "Emil". The message reads: "Mary tried to get Holmes to be a Goy Shel Shabbat (Shabbos goy) once- because goyim are allowed to do a service for a jew during shabbat that a jew is forbidden from doing by hallacha, but you're not allowed to ask them directly, and it was just 2 AND A HALF HOURS OF WORLD'S BEST DETECTIVE NOT TAKING A HINT" /end ID]
***I know that's a shaky description of shabbos goy works. it was late at night and google exsists

Astral Pt. 13 (Loki x Reader)
I’m introducing ANOTHER character :D Morgan is very interesting and her powers are like Kang’s I’m very curious as to who would win in a fight tbh i wish i could’ve written an action scene because she can mind control and OH the drama that I could have played with! You guys are lucky cuz i had something worse written >:D
Tumblr media
You and Loki are eating breakfast together in silence. When you finish your plate Loki tells you to grab a book from his quarters, while he finishes, so he can help you research Asgard. Then meet him in the common area since no one is there right now.
Loki likes to teach you and watch your curiosity flare as you read up on Asgard, its customs, how healers work, how royalty works, instead of telling you. It’s the least he can do since you’ll never actually see Asgard in person. He’s a fantastic storyteller but you know he has a weakness, that weakness being that when you truly concentrate on something sometimes you stick your tongue out a bit and narrow your eyes. Other times you look at the book with guileless fascination. Plus, Loki knows there’s more satisfaction from learning on your own. He’s always there to answer your questions and debate with you though.
You walk back into the common area after grabbing the book, Loki looks at you, then a cloud of dark green appears between you both. Before you can react accordingly feminine arms are yanking you into the cloud of magic and you’re in someone’s arms definitely not at the tower anymore. You can only imagine what Loki is thinking. The last thing he probably saw was the book fall when you dropped it. Now he’s probably thinking the worst is going to happen, that you’re going to die, and honestly you don’t know what’s going on. For all you know you might actually be about to die.
You try to wave off the nausea and dizziness following the teleportation you endured and assess your surroundings but someone is roughly pulling you somewhere. Just as you get your wits back there is a tight rope constricting your hands behind your back and around your ankles. You’re shoved into a rocky wall, twisting, back first causing you to let out a breathless grunt and slide into a sitting position on the ground.
Looking up you see a beautiful woman. She stands tall, her chin out in confidence. Her pale, petite face is framed by pitch black hair, the long tendrils held in braids resting on her chest and trailing to her hips they’re so long. She wears a green and black corset that flows into thigh armor that is engraved. No not engraved, made of actual scales, you shiver at the thought of what could have scales that big, nothing from Earth that’s sure. To end her amazing outfit, her green with black lace boots are thigh highs. You can faintly smell leather and something sweet you’ve never smelled before. You’re pretty sure this woman could be a really good dominatrix if she wanted to.
“That was much easier than expected. If the Avengers are Earth’s best defenders I’m disappointed, to say the least.” The woman tells you looking at her nails in boredom. You pick out her British accent.
You realize you’re not in immediate danger and say, “While I don’t mind getting kidnapped by beautiful women I usually like to know their names first, maybe take me on a date before you bring me back to your place.”
The woman chuckles. “My name is Morgan Le Fay of Britain, the world’s strongest sorceress, Morgana. That is until you came along.”
You frown. “That’s a mouthful.”
Morgana shakes her head with a small smile. “Cute.”
“Look I’m not that powerful, I think you have the wrong person, most of the magic I use I can’t use for long because it gives me migraines.” You say while shifting around to get more comfortable.
You finally take in your surroundings. All you can assess is that you’re in a cave, no telling how far from New York City, home. You know Loki could track you down if you could astral project but you don’t trust Morgana enough to take your eyes off of her. Maybe Tony is tracking your cell phone which you feel sitting in your back pocket.
“Such a shame you’ll never discover your true potential. I’m here to kill you, child, but I had to get a taste of what runs through your blood before I do.” Morgana says kneeling in front of you.
Morgana brings a hand to your head and when she touches you she gasps and closes her eyes. You simply watch from under her hand as she shivers. When she pulls her hand away her eyes are bright with curiosity but far away in thought.
“Why would your mother want to kill someone so powerful, I would think having you on her side would be more preferable.” Morgana says under her breath. You only hear her because she’s so close to you.
“My mother sent you?” You say trying to stall now that you know her intentions.
Morgana hums.
“I know my mother doesn’t love me but I never thought she’d send a glorified assassin after me. I’m honored, honestly.” You say your fingers playing with the rope around your wrists seeing if you could escape somehow. “How does my mother know you anyways, she doesn’t have any powers why would she know a sorceress?”
Morgana frowns at you, “I like your humor in the face of death.” She quips with a hint of annoyance at your nonchalance of the situation, “When a celestial tells me to do something I tend to not question it.” You look at Morgana like she’s crazy then you watch as realization dawns on her face.
“My child...You truly do not know?”
You stop fiddling with the rope and look at Morgana with a raised eyebrow. “Know what? And I’m not a child.”
“Your true birth mother, celestial Madonna.” Morgana says ignoring your plea to be respected.
At this you freeze and lose all the breath in your lungs.
Thor was right, you’re adopted.
“It was prophesied that celestial Madonna would give birth to the most powerful being in the universe. Kang wanted to be father to such child and hunted her down. He impregnated her, held her captive until she birthed you. She fled when she had the chance but couldn’t take you with her.” Morgana explains while standing and pacing the cave’s floor. “Kang, who was being chased by the Avengers, planted you in an alternate universe and time. No one has known where you were until a few years ago when you used magic for the first time.” Morgana finishes, stopping and looking down at you.
She gives you a look of pity as you process everything. It all made sense now. Kang wants you to be his weapon of destruction. Why your parents have always hated you and treated you like shit.
“My mother wants me dead and sent you to do her dirty work...Meaning she’s alive somewhere?” You ask trying to not panic with the influx of information.
“She’s here on Earth until she knows you’re dead. Said you’re more of a liability than anything. I’m being paid handsomely for your head.” Morgana says. She then brings a hand up and flicks it. Dark green magic flows and through the smokey magic you see a quin jet then see flashes of Loki, Steve, Natasha, Tony, and Thor talking, concerned and frightened looks on their faces but hear nothing.
“Your friends are near.” Is all Morgana says like it’s an afterthought. She makes the magic disappear and looks at you with determination. “I have a proposition for you, child.”
You’re not really in the position to argue so you nod at her.
“Promise me you’ll hunt down Kang and right before you deliver the last strike on his miserable life you call on me and let me do it. While I love your mother dearly I have a penchant for revenge.”
“Fine.” You say. At this Morgana looks at you, sizing you up, but decides you’re harmless enough and makes the rope around your wrists and ankles disappear. When you stand she magics a gold ring with a square emerald on it and gives it to you.
“When the time comes throw this on the ground and stomp on it with your foot then stand back, I shall appear where the ring is.”
You nod and slip the ring onto your right ring finger finding that it fits perfectly.
“Do not use it for anything else, it is a one time use. If you use it for something trivial I will kill you without hesitation, our deal will be void.” Morgana says, she frowns and without asking places a hand on your head again. This time you feel her magic search your mind and gasp when she does something that makes you feel energetic and calm.
When Morgana pulls her hand away she explains, “Your powers were behind a barrier, I simply destroyed it. You should be able to wield magic without headaches now but you’re going to use your full power unless you learn how to tame it. Do not kill yourself or I’ll bring you back to life just to kill you again.”
You look at Morgana in disbelief and annoyance because she keeps threatening your life.
She gives you a sympathetic look. “I’m truly sorry such a fate has fallen on you, child.” And then she’s gone and you’re left in a dark cave.
You hadn’t even realized Morgana had used magic to light up the space you both inhabited until you’re left standing in pitch black. Without hesitation you light up both fists with fire and start to make your way out of the cave. You plan to contact Loki when you truly know where you are. However, when you reach the entrance you see the quin jet landing in an open field not that far from the cave’s entrance on the side of a mountain. The first person out of the ship is Loki and he is sprinting towards you, Thor not far behind with Steve and Nat pulling the flank.
When Loki reaches you you open your mouth to tell him you’re ok but he pulls you into his chest hard and squeezes you till you’re breathless. Then he holds you at arms length and looks over your face first, then body.
“Are you hurt, did she use any magic on you?” He asks urgently.
“I’m fine, Loki, we just talked, she’s not a danger to us.” You say with a small smile that you’re sure doesn’t reach your eyes because Loki doesn’t lose the concerned look on his face. He doesn’t push it either though. Thor stays suspiciously silent when he reaches you both. He touches you as if to check that you’re real but drops his hand and claps Loki on the back more for calming him instead of camaraderie.
You look at Steve and Nat with a small wave and embarrassed grimace when Loki, Thor, and you reach them as you all walk towards the quin jet. After you’ve told them multiple times that you’re fine they all relax a bit but not by much. You mostly feel embarrassed you were taken so easily. You didn’t even put up a fight.
You’re sitting in the quin jet quiet other than to answer their questions without going into details because you’re still trying to unravel what you’ve been told.
“Why did she take you?” Steve asks, standing in front of you, arms crossed, with Nat next to him while Loki sits at your side, holding your hand. You know he has questions because his fingers keep playing with the new ring on your hand and he gives you looks you can’t decipher. Thor is speaking with Tony in the cockpit so you’re free of their questions until later thankfully.
“She wants me to find Kang so she may kill him.” You say.
Thankfully Loki and Thor had told the group of superheroes who Kang was after the incident with the Growing Man. They told them what they knew of the man which honestly wasn’t much.
At your words you feel Loki stop playing with the ring. He understands its purpose now. He must have used his magic to look over the ring and see if it was a danger to anyone but especially you, sensing it had magic dwelling in it.
“That doesn’t explain why she took you specifically. She could have told all of us. She didn’t have to kidnap you.” Natasha says knowing you enough to know you’re hiding valuable information.
You frown and look at your feet. “I-”
You go quiet and everyone stays quiet too, you listen to the engine of the quin jet and Thor and Tony bickering in the background. You think about how Loki’s hand fits perfectly in yours and is soft but has rough patches of callouses from his use of daggers. You take a deep breath in through your nose, closing your eyes, and smell leather, sweat, and that smell the quin jet emits like a new car.
When you open your eyes you look up at Steve and Natasha and ask, “How did you find me?”
Natasha frowns at your very obvious deflection. Steve answers. “Tony tracked your cell phone but it’s thanks to Loki we found you so fast. He used his magic to track your magic or something.” Steve says uncrossing his arms and shrugging while glancing at Loki.
You look at Loki who raises a brow at you. “Our bond.” Is all he says at your inquisitive look. You nod in understanding.
“Where are we, exactly?” You ask them.
“The border of New York and Pennsylvania.” Steve says. That explains why they were able to reach you so quick. If Morgana teleported you so close that means your stalling is the only reason you’re alive. She planned to make you a quick death.
When Nat opens her mouth to ask you another question you shake your head at her. “I’m exhausted can I take a nap before I tell you everything?” You ask, realizing you’ve got at least 45 minutes of free time since the jet isn’t going full speed.
Nat looks a little apologetic and Steve nods and says, “We’re happy you’re ok.” and then they both make their way to the opposite side of the quin jet.
You and Loki settle into the quin jet’s seats as comfortably as you can. He stays suspiciously quiet about everything but brings an arm up and around your shoulders and lets you lay your head on his shoulder where it meets his neck. When you’re settled he keeps holding your hand but his free hand around your shoulder comes up to stroke your hair. It doesn’t take long to fall asleep.

Watch me praise the heck out of Jujutsu Kaisen despite starting only two nights ago and only being on EP 12 so far
Jokes aside, Jujutsu Kaisen is turning out to be one of the best anime series i've ever watched and quite possibly, one of the best animes of the coming decade???
Plot is actually interesting to theorize about and to see it play out. The main goal of our protagonist, Itadori, is to find and harvest all of Sukuna's fingers for him to consume and house the whole version of Sukuna's soul just for the Sorcerers to kill him once he finally does in order to vanquish and be rid of one of the most powerful cursed entities in existence. That's insane. That's a hella good main plot. Itadori's basically just a lamb being cared and fed for until he eventually has to be led to the slaughter. And he's aware of it and completely accepts it cuz being the only person in the world who's able to control Sukuna as his vessel, he thinks it would be selfish of him not to do it, to not willingly sacrifice himself and help other people remove this evil entity from the world at the expense of his own life.
Initially, he wanted to do good becuz he wanted to honor the fateful last words of his grandfather, who outright told him he's meant to help and save other people becuz he was gifted with outstanding physical capabilities and he should put it to good use. But then, he's told that if he's only engaging with the cursed spirit world becuz of his grandfather's wishes, he'll eventually start to resent his grandfather and blame him for all the pain he has to endure and the sacrifices he'll make being involved with dangerous and malevolent beings that'll stop at nothing to kill him in order to harbor Sukuna's powers for themselves, until he reaches the point where he's laying on his deathbed filled with regret and cursing his grandpapi to the depths of hell.
Having realized this, your boi makes his own resolve to dabble in the spirit world on his own terms and fight for defenseless people who are unaware of the inhuman dangers that lurk the earth becuz Itadori actually has a strong sense of justice and believes people get what they deserve, but no one is horrible enough to deserve suffering and death at the hands of cursed spirits.
I'm usually indifferent to shonen MCs cuz they typically follow the same format when it comes to their characterization. Your typical guy next door who's friendly, outgoing, kind of an airhead, gets flustered around girls, doesn't get much attention from the people around him, feels inferior and has a rivalry going on with the 2nd male lead, all smiles and sunshine and sickeningly nice, yada yada yada. All in all, just flat out BORING.
I'm running out of words so I'll stop here, I don't think I need to comment on the animation cuz no amount of praise or blubbering on my end can justify how beautiful and exquisite the animation is. Let's just say I now see why some AoT fans went on a rampage and claimed MAPPA was playing favorites with JJK cuz the animation on this series is sensational enough to make any other series jealous along with its fanbase (not that I'm saying the accusations were true and that I condone the hate that the studio was subjected to. like wtf, people who harass the folks that work their asses off to bring you god-level quality entertainment don't deserve anime).
Surprisingly enough, the sentiment doesn't ring true when it comes to Itadori. Even tho he shares a few generic character traits with other shonen MCs, I actually really like him and he isn't a bore to watch and follow around as the story progresses and I'm honestly just questioning what makes him different from all the other MCs and why can't every other shonen protagonist be likable and interesting enough to not turn me into a goat becuz they always make me go: meh.
I also really like the non-linear narrative JJK has going on. It actually has the potential to be quite off-putting since not a lot of animes do that sort of thing (at least I can't think of any at the top of my head), but they execute it well and do it in moderation to effectively steer it away from being too jarring. I think it's a great method for avoiding potential info dumps and filler episodes and other manga authors should deploy this technique more often cuz it's a great switch-up, storytelling-wise.
The narrative is also somewhat fast-paced, bordering on neck-break speed on some occasions, and I don't mind honestly. Don't you just hate it when the story goes full-on snail mode where every episode feels like a chore to finish and not at all like it has a 23 minute time constraint? Yea, completely throws enjoyability out the window. There hasn't been a dull moment yet in my experience, and how quickly everything plays out just encourages you to pay utmost attention and keep your eyes completely glued to the screen so to not miss any of the epicness happening before your eyes.
The soundtrack has no business being this fucking amazing. You might think I'm being nitpicky and actively looking out for things to criticize the animes that I watch on, but no, most times I don't even pay attention to all that or miss the quality of those elements entirely cuz it's too subtle of a detail for me to notice. But here, it just enhances the experience so much and compliments what's happening on-screen so well that it's hard not to take notice and feel so fucking appreciative of the awesome background music that gets you properly hyped while watching the fight scenes and lending the ambience for the milder and more emotional scenes.
Might make follow-up reviews in the future, who knows. Still haven't finished it like I said and I have a lot of thoughts on the other characters, if I feel like ranting about it, rest assured I definitely will lol.

also getting out some feelings on todays stream in the grand scale of like the smp storytelling and stuff. cuz apparently that is just a thing I do now. not full on negative but its also not full on positive so idk how to tag it. press j if you dont give a fuck
so in an interesting twist it looks like they actually are going the more traditional storytelling route of just sort of pushing aside the worst of the trauma until the threat is dealt with. Like Tommy’s still shaky, still can't take damage without panicking, but no longer full on abt to have a breakdown. Which yeah, makes sense. like I said you can't really have a funny Minecraft adventure with a character that close to the mental/emotional edge, and in a more watsonian explanation its been a couple days in-world, and even if it wasn't this is a guy very used to compartmentalizing and pushing aside the trauma while in crisis mode. From an audience perspective though it feels...off? Like do not get it twisted my dude I loved seeing the trauma trio today just hanging out and building a tower and making very teenage-boy-jokes. it all felt very nostalgic, reminded me of earlier smp streams during Pogtopia and stuff, which I know a lot of people have been missing and honestly so did i. But also again, going back to this lighter tone while narrative power creep has made the stakes as high as they are and put these characters though so much, it feels weird to see them acting like the good old days. theres a lingering sadness while watching it. But also again again, from a watsonian explanation I get it, the characters wanna go back to simpler times, when things felt more normal. c!Tommy denies and ignores to hell and back and tries to keep up appearances. thats not a bug, its a feature. but on the other hand that doesnt stop it from feeling weird and fake and like...Im torn. I’m gonna keep an open mind and hope that Tommy will get that puffy therapy appointment sooner rather than later, ideally before any sort of prison break/confrontation goes down because even if hes managing to hold it together better my god does he still need it. Like seriously you cannot go into a potential fight being afraid of getting hit Tommy oh my god.

IV final means a lot to me as a game with a lot of brimming potential, neat plot elements and overall good ideas with fun timeline events n shit especially with the gods so its like god DAMN i want to salvage it so bad. Because the progression of the plot and some of the character writing is just...so fucking bad man, it’s almost depressing, since I actually really like the premise for a lot of the characters, and at least the potential concepts for the rest of them. I just feel like it definitely takes away from the impact of certain events in IV like a friend of mine has stated, and also there’s definitely a lot of things past just bad writing in parts that are genuinely upsetting/suspicious, because Atlus as of late has really just been like that, and it’s not something worth denying or ignoring since it’s something that should /not/ be tolerated in the gaming industry lol.
so this whole iv final rewritten ideas and dumping just to give me more of an excuse if anything to love the characters openly and put them and their stories in just...a much better plot that holds true to the mainline SMT formula. Cuz its my fav game series and I wanna put effort into useless bullshit for fun. Proper routes, giving characters who suffer from a shitty game to have a better opportunity and my only saddening thought is I cannot make this the real iv final but instead just gotta accept the characters are locked to this game that’s more or less objectively bad from a storytelling standpoint first and foremost. IT SUCKS, but I can’t do shit about that. what I can do is just have fun in my own creation and turn my bitterness into something more productive, and something that can entertain me as long as it holds my interest! :)
so yeah, fuck atlus, and yoinks some of the core concepts of IV Final, the characters, and the overall premise. Mine now, baby.

Tumblr media
The Magnificent Four by Simon Guerrier
'A mission to steal data from the planet Mogul goes badly wrong when Cally and Avon are outflanked and outgunned. And then they are teleported to safety – to an alien spaceship stolen from The System, which is crewed by Gilden Trent and his small team of rebels.
For Avon it’s the opportunity to start over again without Blake.
But can Trent be trusted?'
Chronological Placement:
Set during Series B between the episodes Countdown and Voice From the Past.
Magnificent. Defined in the dictionary as 'impressive, deserving of admiration, especially due to an unusual quality involving size'.
The word is often used when describing something vast in size and scope, but magnificence can also be attributed to the quality of something that involves a small group. A prime example would be the title characters of the classic Western The Magnificent Seven. Even the accomplishments made by the John Wick character could be described as magnificent despite them being done by one man.
Magnificent is an apt word to describe the impressive storytelling quality that Guerrier has pulled off with this Cally focused story.
Cally, as played by the exquisite Jan Chappell, was always one of my favorites from the original cast. She was someone that wasn't a hardened cynic like Avon (who provides much needed support for Cally in this story), nor was she cowardly like Vila. She was someone that genuinely believed in doing the right thing and saw fighting against the oppressive tyranny of the Federation to be a very serious responsibility.
I was also always fascinated by her stance as someone that, for all intents and purposes, was the alien of the group (due to her coming from a race of telepaths). I have my own thoughts and theories about the Auronar, but that can wait for another day. Despite having powers of the mind, I always felt that Cally was very much the heart of the team.
I love that this story has Cally and Avon meeting up with a group like Blake's, on a ship like the Liberator, only to learn that they are little more than highly skilled pirates.
I love that the events of the Series B episode 'Redemption' are brought up and how the crew of the Libertine are a result of the aftermath of the events from that story.
I love how the story showcases in the crew of the Libertine a distorted reflection (and perhaps a retroactive premonition) of what would happen to the crew of the Liberator should they lose their way by abandoning their morals and scruples and just give in to blind self interest... Which for the most part is exactly what started to happen during Series C and ultimately came to fruition in Series D.
A minor nitpick, but I always thought the planet Cally came from was called Auron and her people were called the Auronar. And yet in this story and others, they refer to her as being an Auron. Is it a case where one singular person is an Auron but the collective term for the species as a whole is Auronar? It is a minor thing, I know, but still something that stuck out.
Something else that is a bit of a minor flaw is that at one point in the story the voiceover narration switches from Cally to Avon. There is a specific reason why this happens in the narrative, but it still comes about rather unexpectedly.
Given the stories in these chronicles are events being recounted AFTER the fact, there is the inevitable problem of how to create tension and intrigue with life threatening peril for the characters when most fans know the show backwards and are fully aware of what the inevitable fates for many of the characters are.
Luckily for Guerrier and many other writers, they do create moments that make you wonder how such and such will be able to survive whatever life threatening peril is thrown at them, and manage to cleverly pay off how they survive without falling into 'Oh Come The Fuck On' Territory.
8 out of 10 Plasma Bolts
Anyway, this story is very well done and is the first of many plots that involve coming across potential allies for the Resistance movement, only to learn the would be allies are often a lot worse than their enemies in the Federation. Definitely give it a listen.
False Positive by Eddie Robson
'Dr. Lian has a mysterious new patient – a man who was found shot in the leg near Engel City, a man who is delirious and talking about the most extraordinary acts of rebellion.
She prescribes drugs and the use of the alleviator – a device that will dig deep into his memories – to unlock the truth about Carlin Guzan.
But the truth that she exposes is far more shocking than she bargained for...'
Chronological Placement:
Set during Series B after LC Vol. 10's Retribution, between the episodes Horizon and Pressure Point.
This story is definitely a step up in quality from volume 1's 'Counterfeit' and is an excellent Blake-centric story. The framing device for the recollection of the events is actually quite clever as it ties in with the adventure itself in a very naturalistic manner.
The dialogue scenes between Blake and Dr. Liam are excellent. Kudos to Beth Chalmers for giving the character of Dr. Liam the right balance of professional intrigue and personal curiosity as she learns more and more about her 'patient'. But this story belongs to the late Gareth Thomas through and through and it is great to hear him be afforded better material than during his first go round back in 'Counterfeit'.
I always rather liked Blake from the start, and a large part of that is down to the performance of the late Gareth Thomas. The character of Roj Blake was a passionate idealist fighting for a noble cause, someone who could be diplomatic but understood the need for action rather than simple civil disobedience. As someone that broke free from an oppressive government, he immediately gains our sympathies... even if his passions occasionally bordered on overzealous fanaticism. This is largely due to what the Federation did to him personally by trying to rewrite his mind, killing his family and even destroying his public image by falsifying accusations of paedophilia.
Since the Federation enact the same tactics on countless others without any hesitation, morals or scruples, it is no wonder why Blake is so overwhelmingly passionate about wiping out the corruptive and cancerous tumor that is the Federation. Not only to avenge family, but to ensure that people are given the freedom to choose for themselves and not simply be coerced into following the rules through propaganda, torture, drugs or mind control.
Speaking of drugs and mind control, that goes to the heart of the plot: Blake going undercover at a Federation research facility that is conducting a clinical drug trial for the development of a new pacifying sedative, which the Federation hopes to employ in order to ensure total compliance and obedience to Federation doctrine.
Ironically enough, that is exactly what would come to pass towards the tail end of Series D... But we already know that, don't we?
7 out of 10 Plasma Bolts
All things considered, it is a pretty good story. This story, like a few others in the Liberator Chronicles range, could work as a two-hander stage play with a couple of tweaks. It also could easily have worked on TV or even as a full cast audio. Give it a listen.
Wolf by Nigel Fairs
“I heard his death cry. I felt it. And there was a word. ‘Wolf’. You, Servalan. You were the “Wolf”. You killed him. I want to know why.”
'Some time ago, Blake and his crew were helped by a revered Auron scientist named Gustav Nyrron. He stayed aboard the Liberator for a time and then disappeared.
Cally wants to know what happened to Nyrron, and only Servalan knows the answers.'
Chronological Placement:
Set during Series B between the episodes Pressure Point and Trial.
This is a very intriguing Servalan focused story, featuring Cally and a return appearance by Gustav Nyrron from Volume 1's 'Solitary'.
They say that a protagonist is only as good as the antagonist created to provide drama/conflict. This is especially true when the character of Supreme Commander Servalan (along with the equally excellent Space Commander Travis) was introduced as the Liberator crew's primary antagonist in the Series A episode 'Seek-Locate-Destroy'.
A large part of why the Servalan character has left such a lasting impression on the minds of fans had to do with the casting of the late Jacqueline Pearce, and the way she played the role. Her grace, charm, beauty and seductive allure went hand in hand with a ruthless ambitious edge along with a keen strategic mind.
In many ways, Servalan, as played by Jacqueline Pearce, reminded me of Alexis Colby as played by Joan Collins. Although Servalan was a bit more reserved than Alexis.
As such, it makes perfect sense that the Liberator Chronicles would provide ample opportunities to explore the villains as well as the heroes. This story does well to explore Servalan's character along with her thoughts, beliefs and how she carries herself as she recounts events. The recollection is pretty interesting cuz it comes about in multiple ways.
We learn a little bit about Servalan's childhood in reference to a game she used to play with others. Its interesting how this story, along with the upcoming 'Kerr', 'President' and 'Three', provides more insight into the character than the show ever did. The aforementioned upcoming stories do provide some great insight into why Servalan is the way she is... But let's not get ahead of ourselves.
I love the scenes between Servalan and Cally, as I do not recall the two of them having much screentime during the series proper... If ever. But I could be wrong.
This story has some great twists and turns as it deals with exploring how Servalan used Nyrron as her personal plaything in her efforts to lure the Liberator into her clutches.
Although Nyrron will be featured again in the story 'Brother' off of Volume 11 (which I will talk about eventually), I think this is the story that features him the best. We learn the most about him as a character, and much kudos to Anthony Howell for bringing much pathos and nuance to the Auron scientist.
The story also lends itself quite well to philosophical debates regarding how each side views the other. Naturally, Blake's crew view Servalan and the Federation as an evil and oppressive tyranny, while Servalan and those within the Administration view Blake and his ilk as little more than terrorists wanting to bring down the only force for law and order in the galaxy.
It is that clash of ideals and personal morals that will be explored to great effect in future volumes as well as in the full cast audios.
9 out of 10 Plasma Bolts
Final score for Liberator Chronicles Vol. 2 in its entirety is 8 out of 10 Plasma Bolts. It is a profound step up in quality compared to Volume 1, and it demonstrates that things can only go up from here in terms of character exploration and engaging plots.
Special credit to Craig Brawley of the Big Finish Listeners Facebook Group for his tireless efforts in mapping out the chronology of the audios and determining his they fit in with the established TV continuity.

DCOM Rankings #70: Twitches Too
Woooo into the 70’s!! And still so much left to go....
So I was really hoping that the second movie would be better than the first because that’s what I thought as a kid. So I had high hopes for this one.....sighhhhh but alas I was not as satisfied as I hoped. But let’s talk about it.
As always, the flaws.
- by far the biggest flaw in this movie is the logic. This movie’s use of “in-universe” logic just doesn’t make any sense!! You can’t pick and choose what piece of logic applies to who.
-For example. Alex has the gift of knowing, right? But like, what the heck does Camryn have? I liked the idea that both had the gift of knowing because Alex wrote about it, and Camryn drew it. I thought that was so unique! But the movie completely mis-uses it and abuses Alex’s writings and almost completely ignores camryn’s abilities. But anyway, I thought it was her dad’s way of connecting with her in the first movie. But now they use it as a way for Thantos to get into Alex’s thoughts. Okay, fine, but you need to establish who can and can’t connect with alex because I feel like she could be manipulated by anybody. But if what she wrote is always true, WHY DOESNT ANYONE BELIEVE HER?? And why does the movie even have a plot if Alex already knows what’s going to happen. You (as in the writers) can make Alex say or do anything that’s convenient for the plot and just use her “knowing” power as an excuse.
-another example, if thantos really wanted to come back and had no magic, how the hell was he able to cast a protection spell?? If he used someone else (like Alex) early on, that would have been actually really interesting, cuz Alex was already going to set him free, why not allow her to do his bidding?
-some spells require spoken phrases, others don’t. I feel like it needs to be specified like in other movies/shows.
-Alex being so wishy washy! First she wants to help, then she doesn’t, then gets manipulated by thanos, like the movie used her to create the conflict until the ACTUAL conflict happened. It’s like the movie didn’t know what it was going to do until the final 15 minutes.
-along with that, the pacing was just really slow and just filled with goofy scenes or nonsense conflict that was going to magically resolve itself when it needed to. Things happen, not because the plot leads them to it but just because the writing says so, and that’s not good storytelling, things have to lead into one another.
-love interests, again, boring as absolute hell. No chemistry whatsoever.
Okay, now the good things:
-this movie had a much better potential that the first. I liked the final battle at the end (it wasn’t amazing but it was good enough), I liked the concept that the movie tried to explain (emphasis on tried), and the overall story.I just wish it was executed better.
-if I’m going to watch a boring movie, I might as well watch it with memorable characters. Tia and Tamara are, as always, absolutely fantastic! I could watch them all day. At least when the conflict made no sense, it was fun watching them argue and then make up and then argue some more and just be total goofballs. You can tell they had fun with these roles. Everyone else in the movie is also fantastic. The guy who played thantos was one of my faves in this one.
- the one benefit of a sequel is you don’t have to re-introduce the main characters and just get right onto the plot, so this movie didn’t really introduce any new characters except the dad at the end. So this movie got to play around with things a bit and allow the girls to use their magic for fun.
-we did get to see more of Coventry and it’s culture so I am happy they extended that universe a bit. I always love world building!! I’m sure the crew had huge budget constraints cuz it seemed like only a handful of people lived around there, and you don’t know if these guys know about modern technology or not. idk, there was still a lot more to flesh out but they did a better job with this movie than the last one.
-overall this movie had the amazing potential to be something really great and dramatic, and it fell flat due to the pacing and the logic issues.
There’s not too much else I can say except that I still love these movies despite their flaws, and while they’re not A range like I thought they would be, they’re still entertaining. Like I think when you’re a kid you tend to ignore basic logic when it comes to fantasy movies, and you just go along with whatever. That’s how I used to play games when I was a kid, you made up your own rules and just did what you wanted. So if the logic is the only thing that’s wrong in these movies, it may go down a letter grade but it will stay a plus. So, yeah, both the movies get a B+. I haven’t decided which is better though. Probably this one because it was more expansive.
Okay, into 2008 we go!! I think from now on these movies will modernize fast because Disney channel only released a few movies a year instead of one a month. Hopefully this can somehow make things go by faster...see you for the next omen

OKAY I’ve finished Love Death & Robots, so here’s my short review/summary of each one where I also rate them on accuracy to the show’s title:
"Sonnie's Edge" - excessively violent. setting is neat. animation was cool but watching a lesbian get stabbed and then get her head stomped on repeatedly isn’t fun.
Love Rating 2/10 (there were tits and make outs)
Death Rating 10/10 (plenty of on-screen and an off-screen death)
Robot Rating 8/10 (there was robotic tech but this felt more like futuristic monsters than robots...)
Overall I give it a 4/10
"Three Robots" - really fun! it was funny and charming and cute. animation is nice. Josh Brener and Chris Parnell do some voices...yeah. it was fun!
Love Rating 0/10 (no sex? no romance? alright)
Death Rating 7/10 (no death but lots of skeletons)
Robot Rating 15/10 (robots!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Overall I give it a 9/10, would watch again
"The Witness" - this one is really cool. like, i dont know...its cool, i enjoyed it a lot. the animation is amazing i LOVE the style and the character designs were nice.
Love Rating 8/10 (lots of sex and idk. erotic dancing. lots of tits and bush)
Death Rating 8/10 (yeah. well. yea? not gory but it was there and it happened)
Robot Rating 0/10 (i recall no robots)
Overall I give it an 8/10 only because there were no robots
"Suits" - a LOT better than i expected! animation was cool, story was interesting, characters were lovable. i highly recommend this ep though it is sad its very good.
Love Rating 10/10 (many emotions. no tits and no sex but much love)
Death Rating 10/10 (a good emotional onscreen death. quality storytelling style)
Robot Rating 10/10 (lots of robots!)
Overall I give it a 10/10 but its still not my #1 favorite it just gives you everything the show title says it will
"Sucker of Souls" - ehhh. like the animation was really cool and the cat stuff was funny but overall its just pretty boring? character designs uninteresting story is blaaahhh. best part is Gary but she doesnt make up for how boring the rest is.
Love Rating 0/10 (some cats fuck at one point but thats it)
Death Rating 12/10 (everybody dies)
Robot Rating 0/10 (were there robots???? there were draculas. so many draculas)
Overall I give it a 2/10 but really its just boring
"When the Yogurt Took Over" - this one is fun. i mean, its only 6 minutes long and it was funny and entertaining and the art style is neat so yeah id recommend it to anyone.
Love Rating 0/10 (i recall no love)
Death Rating ?/10 (genuinely cant remember if anyone dies but the economy collapses so thats significant)
Robot Rating ?/10 (i think the yogurt was mutated rather than filled with nanobots soooo...no robots? idk)
Overall I give it a 7/10 cuz it was fun
"Beyond the Aquila Rift" - too confusing to be good and yet also somehow pretty good? animation was nice and pretty. greta is hot. but i dont know, something about it felt like....lazy. the story was lazy.
Love Rating 8/10 (we get tits and sex right on screen)
Death Rating 0/10 (i dont think anyone dies?)
Robot Rating ??/10 (really hard to say. very matrix-y story so whats a robot? whats not? who knows bitch)
Overall I give it a 5/10
"Good Hunting" - :( this one is really sad and violent. theres a lot of tits including i believe on a very young character??? but it wasnt in a sexual context but still kind of uncomfortable. anyway the story is interesting and good but mostly just REALLY sad. theres a scene where you watch a guy saw off a girl’s legs while she screams and even tho it only lasts a brief moment it really gets to you.
Love Rating 10/10 (i know liang and yan dont actually get together but their relationship was really good)
Death Rating 10/10 (plenty of death, thats for sure)
Robot Rating 9/10 (yea! robots! but in a sad way)
Overall I give it an 8/10 because the story is interesting but the girl character just goes through every possible kind of torment and even if things end up alright it still hurts to watch
"The Dump" - i just didn’t really like this one. it was sad and kinda gross and didnt really give me anything to work with. the animation was cool at least.
Love Rating 1/10 (man and pet love? idk)
Death Rating 9/10 (two deaths at least, and one implied animal death? or we see a dead dog? or something? i dont remember)
Robot Rating ???/10 (i mean...is otto a robot? i dont think so??? i dont know)
Overall I give it a 3/10 cuz i didnt like it at all
“Shape-Shifters” - yeah this one should not have been boring but it was. the characters were fine but i feel like US Army stuff just makes my brain turn off (then again, i do love gi joe, so who knows). anyway the werewolf soldier concept i guess could be interesting but, again, it just wasn’t. it sure was sad though.
Love Rating 8/10 (those werewolf soldier boys were kind of, like, pals)
Death Rating 10/10 (lots of death, for suresies)
Robot Rating 0/10 (werewolves are not robots)
Overall I give it a 6/10
"Helping Hand" - so, like, this one is super boring unless you like watching someone floating in space and then ripping their own arm off with realistic crunches and screams. the girl was cute at least.
Love Rating 0/10 (she sure didnt love her arm)
Death Rating 0/10 (she didnt die, so)
Robot Rating 0/10 (no robots!!!!)
Overall I give it a 4/10 cuz the animation is cool and the girls design is good but it had none of what the show title promises
“Fish Night" - this one was cool but weird. Yuri Lowenthal plays a guy who gets eaten by an astral space shark. so i guess theres some anti-shark propaganda but it sure LOOKED cool.
Love Rating 0/10 (i guess old guy and young guy were close but not close enough for me to care)
Death Rating 10/10 (yea)
Robot Rating 0/10 (i mean...there was really cool astral space ocean thing whatever but it wasnt robots)
Overall I give it an 8/10 because i liked it a lot
"Lucky 13" - i wanted to like this one cuz of Samira Wiley but it just wasnt very interesting. it had potential but tbh it just wasnt memorable? i remember how it started and how it ended but nothing in the middle which isnt a good sign.
Love Rating 2/10 (cuz she loves that ship? i guess)
Death Rating 9/10 (yeah. i mean, yeah)
Robot Rating 0/10 (i could be remembering wrong but i have no memory of any robots)
Overall I give it a 5/10
"Zima Blue" - FAAAAAAVE! FAVE FAVE FAVORITE!!!! i fucking LOVE this one i watched it twice cuz i loved it a lot. really really great and it was done in the style of Motorcity/Tron: Uprising which made it even better. a really cool story and just fun to watch and interesting and charming. really really enjoyed it.
Love Rating 10/10 (a love for ART!)
Death Rating 10/10 (two deaths and one was on screen and very sad but non-violent)
Robot Rating 10/10 (yeah!!!!!!)
Overall I give it an 11/10 because i love it and want everyone to see it tbh
"Blindspot" - zzzzzzzzzzz. i mean ok it wasnt terrible but it just wasnt interesting. girl robot’s design is cute at least.
Love Rating 0/10 (some sex jokes but thats it)
Death Rating 9/10 (fake deaths)
Robot Rating 11/10 (yea its 100% robots)
Overall I give it a 3/10 cuz i was bored
"Ice Age" - this one is really funny and charming BUT the animation is almost...TOO realistic? uncanny valley or something. it looked like live action and it was a little weird but its fine cuz it was really really really good and just fun to watch. funny/charming/cute you name it!
Love Rating 7/10 (main couple seems to be in love or whatever but its not relevant to the story)
Death Rating 10/10 (an entire civilization dies and starts over again, so)
Robot Rating 8/10 (i mean...at the end of the civilization there was something robotic going on or something idk it was cool looking)
Overall I give it an 8/10 cuz i just really liked it a lot
"Alternate Histories" - this one is funny!! nothing really special just a bunch of funny shorts about how hitler sucks. a lot of these movies went for a hyper realistic animation style so this one is a nice change of pace.
Love Rating 1/10 (one of the shorts has a lot of fucking but that one was just kind of uncomfortable)
Death Rating 10/10 (how many times can you watch hitler die? a whole bunch)
Robot Rating 4/10 (future hitler appears in a robot suit at the end, so, like, i guess?)
Overall I give it a 7/10 cuz it was funny
"The Secret War" - okay so initially this one was super boring to me but it REALLY kicked it up a notch towards the end. i ended up rewatching it because i wanted to fully take in everything before it got good and yeah i liked it a lot.
Love Rating 8/10 (family love no sex no titties no romance)
Death Rating 16/10 (yeah. its a lot of limbs being ripped off and a guy shoots himself in the head)
Robot Rating 0/10 (there were monsters and airplanes but no robots that i can recall?)
Overall I give it an 8/10 because there were no robots

THE POSITIVE & NEGATIVE; Mun & Muse - Meme.
fill out & repost ♥ This meme definitely favors canons more, but I hope OC’s still can make it somehow work with their own lore, and lil’ fandom of friends & mutuals. Multi-Muses pick the muse you are the most invested in atm. tagged by: @forseenclade thank you ! man i am so bad at doing memes.  tagging: @blossomingbeelzebug @zhrets @lupichorous @dansiere yayayayayayayaya
My muse is:   canon / oc / au / canon-divergent / fandomless / complicated [ z/iggy stardust is DEFINITELY not my original character, but 683 is, and every single part of how i rp ziggy from his backstory to his personality was made up by me. that being said, ziggy is still a character that exists in media. ]
Is your character popular in the fandom?  YES / NO. [ im pretty sure ziggy is tied with the thin white duke as one of b*wie’s most famous fictional personas? ]
Is your character considered hot™ in the fandom?  YES ? / NO / IDK.
Is your character considered strong in the fandom?  YES / NO / IDK.
Are they underrated?  YES / NO / IDK. [ maybe a little overrated ]
Were they relevant for the main story?  YES / NO.
Were they relevant for the main character?  YES / NO / THEY’RE THE PROTAG.
Are they widely known in their world?  YES / NO.
How’s their reputation?  GOOD / BAD / NEUTRAL. [ celebrity rock god of limitless talent vs inevitable overrated washup. most celebrities are polarizing anyways ]
How strictly do you follow canon?  — there isnt much canon to go off of i think? the album barely even states if ziggy is an alien and b*wie himself got really wishy washy about it (sometimes saying z is a human who was contacted by aliens, he was an alien himself, etc). i dont think we know anything about him besides what he looks like (red hair / weird eyes / pale / “well hung” lmao) and he has a band called the spiders from mars, he plays the guitar left handed, he’s bisexual + androgynous, and he’s charming and popular with the teens but inevitably is a victim of his own ego. and he dies.  that too.  but that’s literally it! we know Nothing else about him.  so i filled in all the gaps because my brain has worms.  theres a little bit of the story that verges on fantasy (that he’s some sort of messiah messenger for “the infinites,” whatever the fuck THAT means, david) so i nix that because i prefer hard scifi.  and theres one BIG part that i just ... deleted out of his canon, in that the world is ending in 5 years in his timeline, and he’s like ... aware of this ?  but that’s dumb and confusing.  i legit dont care anymore. my OC now.
SELL YOUR MUSE! Aka try to list everything, which makes your muse interesting in your opinion to make them spicy for your mutuals.  —  im so embarrassed i know i could be genuine and actually try but i have brain blockajjolajlakala33lak33klak333ak3jka3akjj323j3 i guess it’s like ... ziggy is truly the ultimate expression OF humanity because he reveals everything both wrong and right about the human condition, he literally embodies the best of humanity and the worst at the same time, he’s a really interesting critique on the idea of genuineness/earnestness vs commercalism in art, the perils of fame, and also how humans are so inherently corrupting?  a lot of thematic stuff i like exploring is like what is innate to humans vs what is learned behavior, what are things that humans do naturally that ziggy mimics out of his desire to be like us?  i think he has a really good story arc -- he went from being a literal nameless CLONE in a society full of pragmatic forward thinking science-oriented people to a sell out rockstar celebrity in a society of people that value individualism and self expression and art, but in the process completely lost his mind and himself and gave into the worst that humanity has to offer like rampant selfishness, drug abuse, self destructive tendencies, etc. characters changing is always interesting and ziggy truly changes for the worse -- but he is never just black and white, he was never good and then suddenly evil, he just was always the same person putting on different facades and trying to be himself by constructing an identity that maybe was who he wanted to be versus who he actually is.  i dont know what im talking about. hes just an alien trying to be too hard to be human in all the wrong ways.   i just like how “gray” ziggy is. he isnt good or bad, he can be very nice and he can be very mean, he’s overtly showboating confident but at the same time deeply afflicted with self-consciousness (why tf else would anyone be So obsessed with how they present themselves?).  hes an icon of individualism but also commercialism.  he’s freakishly alien but is almost more human than humans themselves.  he struggles as lot in his head -- which makes for interesting writing, i guess !!  Im so emabrrased im not going to go back and read what i wrote so if i typoed dont look at me
Now the OPPOSITE, list everything why your muse could not be so interesting (even if you may not agree, what does the fandom perhaps think?).  —  i think ziggy comes across as really mean and nothing else.  his horrible bitchy rudeness comes across as hee hee hoo hoo sassy isnt he a rascal when it’s supposed to be more like ... he’s so far gone into the celebrity delusion he’s conflated aggressive rudeness with charmingness because no one told him otherwise and everyone worships him to the point where he’s just given into the delusion that he can do no wrong.  i think theres the general simplification problem that happens with a lot of fictional characters, it’s easy to see him as just a whacky sassy glittery quirky rockstar when i guess it avoids the inherent tragedy of like ... everything else about him. his totally fake and false sense of identity built up from superficial things like fame and labels and stardom.  maybe my version of ziggy is just too weirdly depressing and sad when i know his original iteration wasn’t quite so ... grim.  im not very sure tbh.
What inspired you to rp your muse?  —  hmmm ... a lot of things! i just really got into b*wie stuff in early 2019, i’ve ALWAYS loved aliens and sci-fi, and i was really shocked that db sets up such great visual storytelling potential but does it through music.  i just really liked ziggys “story” and i like any chance to think about aliens so i just got invested into piecing together a little backstory for him using, like, the cumulative knowledge of literally every other piece of science fiction ive ever consumed in my life.  this was summer 2019 when i was making initial pitches for my thesis film, and so i just randomly decided to pitch “animated version of ziggy stardust” as one of the potential ideas.  shockingly everyone liked it a lot and so did my professor who thought it was really cool, and then i just ended up sticking with the character and working on him for an entire year.  ziggy became my hobby but also my homework.  he was such a fun character because everything about him was interesting to me and i had just enough source material to have a starting point but so much room to take him in any direction i wanted to.
What keeps your inspiration going?  —  honestly, yooooou guyssssss. i have some really amazing fwends that ive met thru here .... and some of our dumb stupid stories have literally become NOVEL length. it just self generates inspiration because you realize the limitless amount of stories you could tell with this one single character when your character enters his story or he enters their story and etc. etc.  ive drawn endless amounts of comics and stuff for him ... ziggy is just so endlessly interesting ...   cringe be cringed bro but recently (i know this sounds dumb bear with me or die.) ive kind of realized a lot of how i rp z comes as some metaphor for the experience of being an asian immigrant/being asian in the US -- his home “culture” is a lot stricter than the rampant selfish individualism of the usa (he only lives in the uk and usa, so he thinks the whole planet is like this), he’s dissuaded from standing out from his community and his selfishness becomes a community burden rather than a personal flaw, and when he does come to earth, he goes through such awful culture shock, literally nothing makes sense to him and everything is Different.  and while some things are different in a Nice way, something things are different in an Awful way, and he’s given the option between losing his true personal identity as an atominan and giving it up to be a human.  the allure of being a human is a little too much but losing yourself like this is traumatic, in a way.  obvs like ... a little silly and definitely not something that i actively intended to put into his story arc, its just something that fell into place cuz i guess i worked so closely with my own personal experiences and feelings of “alienation” (pun intended) to try to understand how he would feel being a literal alien an shid. its cathartic to write about him. but he also has a lot of my own personal interests just thrown in -- 70s fashion, scifi, science, tryhard implications about human nature, art history, whatever dumb nonsense i get into
Some more personal questions for the mun.
Give your mutuals some insight about the way you are in some matters, which could lead them to get more comfortable with you or perhaps not.
Do you think you give your character justice?  YES / NO / SOMETIMES?
Do you frequently write headcanons?  YES / NO  [ i would prefer information to spring up organically in the story but cuz threads always get dropped i end up just telling people outright. i didnt want anyone to know his home planet/his old name but barely anyone writes enough with ziggy to get to that point to reveal it (i legit managed to do it organically Once) so i just had to write it in a post lmao orz ]
Do you sometimes write drabbles?  YES / NO [ wrote a ton of drabbles ! drew a ton of comics! ]
Do you think a lot about your Muse during the day? YES / NO
Are you confident in your portrayal?   YES / NO / I DUNNO?
Are you confident in your writing?  YES / HAHA NO.
Are you a sensitive person?  YES  / NO. / IDK ?
Do you accept criticism well about your portrayal?  —  definitely!  like i said ... my version of ziggy ended up being the protag of my thesis film and for 1 yr straight his characterization, backstory, design, and even how i wanted to animate his fucking movements (ziggy stardust timing charts.) were beaten to death in a classroom environment, torn apart and rebuilt into something better.  had i stayed with what i originally wanted to go with, ziggy would be so different than how i write him 2day. amazingly my pre production professor is a literal two time emmy award winning storyboard artist and animator so he definitely helped me design him (my version of ziggy is meant for ... a cartoon, obviously, not real life) and give him a better backstory?  and my post production professor is a retired disney animator who worked on hercules and a bunch of old disney channel shows?  had i gone wah wah wah i dont want to hear ur critiques i wouldnt have made him better.  if you ever think ziggy seems inconsistent or poorly written ... tell me !! i literally major in ... animation. cartoons. entertainment.  my job is to entertain you. if you are not entertained, there is a problem.  ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED ????
Do you like questions, which help you explore your character?  —  I LOVE QUESTIONS? i love ... answering questions ... if you ask me something ill come kiss you.
If someone disagrees to a headcanon of yours, do you want to know why?  —  sure! i dont know why that would happen, though, because i mean ... he’s an OC. but i gues someone could be like “i feel like this is incongruous to things you’ve previously established in his character” or somethin
If someone disagrees with your portrayal, how would you take it?  —  i feel like a lot of b*wie stans would find my version of ziggy weird but i mean thats fine!  i guess my goal is to have a well written character, not necessarily an accurate version of ziggy
If someone really hates your character, how do you take it?  —  if you hate MY version of ziggy thats fine but if u hate ziggy stardust in general (like the bowie concept) then u need some taste what the fuck is cooler than a egomaniac genderless bisexual rockstar alien with red hair? nothing. go back to watching your CW shows you dirty filthy normie
Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors?  —  yes! dm me though. dont clown me on the dash like that.  i usually write your replies 12 AM - 4 AM so it’s expected.
Do you think you are easy going as a mun?   —  hmmm ... maybe! i do like to talk to people and i am VERY nice, trust me, if youre ever sad ill do everything i can to make you feel better. but im quiet! i dont really reach out to people and i tend to just keep to myself.  im not very social or extroverted at all haha i barely can make ooc posts without feeling like god’s coming to beat my head in with a brick. im sitting here at 5:30 AM with this meme feeling like if i post it i will die (BUT I MUST)
