contemplates that if enterprise had been allowed to go the full 7 seasons everyone expected it could do when it launched its final two seasons would have broadcast on the cw so much for untumblrising star trek

you know ive seen it discussed that doctor who star trek crossovers would never work because the doctor is too anti authority and star trek is too rules based so they would sort of explode upon impact but i think ds9 is the most learn to live with the weird trek and the fifth doctor is the most pro authority leading them to be able to comfortably meet in the middle where the fifth doctor tries to engage in cultural exchange by teaching them how to play cricket in the middle of a moment of heightened tension with the dominion because only horrible things happen to the fifth doctor and friends turlough and garak have a very strange conversation leaving turlough to believe hes been poisoned and garak believing he gave him a rousing pep talk to get better at lying tegan and leeta become drinking buddies and well i shant say what julian and the fifth doctor do and what it represents about reflexive perceptions of sci fi franchises from across the atlantic and idea exchange within and the places within cultural memory of popular british franchises remembered nostalgically by american tv writers and such forth sisko tries to teach the doctor baseball but none of it sticks the station sustains a terrible attack and the fifth doctor and his friends must watch more people die horribly in front of them and honestly its not even the weirdest thing that week for ds9 end scene

are there any other doctor who shout outs on star trek..... with doctor who we have creature from the pit being a devil in the dark rip off and rose calling the doctor spock perhaps a few other mentions im forgetting but whatever i know theres like a comic series where the doctor meets the tng crew but thats official crossover material and not relevant but im wracking my brain ive always felt like guinan seemed kinda time lord inspired but nothing to go on besides vibes and then of course future tense the enterprise episode where theyre taking apart a ship from the future thats bigger on the inside but does anyone with a more encyclopedic knowledge than i know any others..

yaaay i finally had fun watching an entire enterprise episode :3 future tense was very fun and weird reminded me a bit of the episode where they try and take apart a cylon ship and its full of guts in bsg which i really loved also felt very x files kinda small chips on a big playing field perhaps makes sense since the temporal cold war makes about as much sense as the x files mythology and is perhaps best approached from a theoretical and thematic framework than anything terribly literal but felt like that kind of tantalizing grasp at knowledge like the erlenmeyer flask or whatever and i think has some interesting use of the temporal cold war as a way to like try and work thru the oddness of the nature of a prequel series if nothing else it felt like an interesting amalgamation of sci fi different than what enterprise normally mines with its heavy x files influence and of course the bigger on the inside vessel from the future...

i think they should invent line cook jobs that dont make u want to die i want a 4 days a week 6 hour shift for like the lunch rush i come in at 10am get the restaurant set up do all my little prep tasks get ready for the oncoming day the shop opens at 11:30 i work thru the lunch rush we are not understaffed close at 2:30 i help with prep work for the dinner shift and then go home after my 6 hours and also everyone gets legally allotted breaks and i get to eat drink and go to the bathroom whenever i need to because we are not understaffed and also get paid well and thats that..

you know i do think its kinda funny realizing my enjoyment of time management games did actually translate to real life and that i did find the balancing 10 different tasks and trying to construct a mental machine to get all these things done in under some sort of time pressure situation is actually kind of fun and exhilarating like to a point i was not as crazy as some of my coworkers who were genuinely energized by a huge rush for like most of a day id top out at like 2.5 hours of insanity and then its like i think i need to kill myself but again kind of funny like idk i think job sites should start asking for peoples overcooked stats if they wanna be a line cook

incredible how against all odds even when hes literally not even there gay spock cannot stop winning like enterprise is like actually people who mind meld are a secret gay coded minority and obviously u can take it two different ways u can be like oh i know star trek lore and i remember spock was mind melding all the time and it was normal and expected this means this prejudice is wrong and will change in the future or you can be like oh i know star trek lore and i remember spock was mind melding all the time this means spock is gay

actually funniest part of the episode was when archer was like we eliminated prejudice nearly a century ago guy who says at least 10 different anti vulcan microaggressions to t'pol per day

you know real shame i feel like tv sci fi is too high budget and has gone from shy and conservative about gay people to like very ok with gay people with little stop in the middle like when all the shitty procedural tv shows were makign episodes about faking gay to go undercover or like the house line "maybe being gay isnt making him sick but being straight is" and whatever other flavor of awkward in between space of like yes gay people exist but we arent sure what to do about it just yet so like i mean this is also because tv sci fi was trying to take itself a lot more seriously and i think has always assumed its demographic is like 15-35 year old straight white guys and that it cannot go outside of that without losing viewers but like huge loss there arent episodes where they gotta go to the planet where straight is gay and gay is straight and experience heterophobia and have to fake being gay to be taken seriously on a diplomatic mission or like space virus that turns you gay episode weirdly handled alien side character who is like well on my planet being gay is normal but i was ostracized for being into science i am gay but i was kicked off my homeworld for loving science and makes comments about how odd it is that humans are naturally heterosexual and like the show is ok with one or two gay side characters but does always imply every single other character in the entire universe is totally straight or something like that idk there are really funny possibilities that never got tested.....

you know crazy how much my mental healths improved since i quit my job and also i think ive gotten like a bit more confident in myself no longer feeling as afraid to simply speak to people it was crazy how much my coworkers just like completely ignoring me and acting like i was barely there or a complete human being kinda fucked with my head like i was having anxiety over the idea that saying a word to a human being i didnt know was like intruding and a problem and like literally felt shame for simply existing anywhere not that im not still crazy but like this extremity has definitely lessened a lot

god i feel like watching generic star trek sludge is going to make me fucking crazy here... i cant even say season 2 of enterprise is horrifically bad its just like a total non entity its not as maddening as season 2 of discovery and its not like the just unending chain of horrendous infamous misfires of season 1 of tng but its like a bunch of unendingly mediocre episodes that feel like they have so little to say except hey guys dont u want more star trek thats all we have on the menu and im like man i have been eating the same thing for 15 years can we get something different and theyre like sorry flat out of different would u like a reconstituted protein shake made up of tng leftovers and im like idk about that man and then you know for emphasis in between reheated tng leftovers they drop some of the worst things u have ever seen so its like oh great thanks <3

I haven't seen Battlestar Galactica before and I only have vague ideas about it haha. I def thought it was late 90s... Ok I might have been thinking of Stargate actually. Sorry I'm a fake sci Fi fan lol. I only know star trek and b5 and like....farscape (lmao)
oh ok that makes more sense thats ok i also know nothing about stargate and shall probably keep it that way me rapidly looking up when stargate premiered tbh im opposite of u i thought stargate was also just in the 2000s tho i guess running 10 seasons adn getting a spin off does make it more 2000s than 90s but whatever love pretending to know things <3 yeah its like radiating circle of star trek adjacentness b5 and farscape the most trek of the trek inspired spin offs vs bsgs origin point is more star wars mormonism and 9/11 but also ronald d moore getting sick of working on star trek
