Legally Blonde would make for a fantastic Dinluke AU (particularly the musical version)
Like, Luke being the hopeless romantic following his ex to Harvard (like it’s hard??) bc he thinks they’re meant to be. Nobody takes him seriously, he’s a bubbly blond with rich parents and that’s all people see him as
Din (who grew up in a tougher situation than most there) who ends up catching feelings, but more than anything just wants to see Luke succeed. The friendship is more than enough. Idk like he’s studying while also working a ton and balancing being a father too (idk, bc like Grogu is important and I love him)
Luke taking Din to get a new suit, like in Take It Like a Man from the musical -
Din: I look like (ex). But it’s just me…
Luke: That’s the best part, the outside is new. But now it reflects what’s already in you. Couldn’t change that if i wanted to. And I do not
It’s been a while since I watched the musical so just little moments I think would be great Dinluke’d:
Luke being certain that he’ll be getting engaged, but he’s taken out for a nice dinner to be broken up with. Bc he’s not ‘serious enough’
Luke in the bunny costume??? Din seeing him and greeting him with “what’s up? … Doc.” Honestly just ALL of Chip On My Shoulder is them.
Luke doing the bend and snap??
And ofc the angst of the song Legally Blonde. Luke gets hit on/kissed by the professor and plans to leave Harvard. Din standing by Luke’s door, trying to convince him to stay, that they’ll fight it
Honestly the confident energy of Emmett in LBTM translating into Din is delicious. Him leaning in to say “Do you really think I’d let you get away?” Into Luke’s ear at the final court case
Just Din being so in love, but just happy for any amount of Luke he can have in his life, wanting to push him to success and proudly standing by his side while he does
Also the scene where the dad says “law school is for boring, ugly, serious people. And you are none of those things.” Is so Anakin

mando stan behavior is so cringeworthy like god forbid we give any credit to mando's stunt doubles or acknowledge their contributions of being on set, especially when stand in actors and stunt doubles are often overlooked. everything has to be about pedro and if the stunt actors happen to acknowledge one another on social media that's perceived as them leaving out pedro or some nonsense. had to block those unhinged posts, these people are too much.
no it’s absolutely ridiculous and especially taking it as a slight against pedro when he himself has credited them for doing a lot of the on-set work! honestly ive really loved how the mando cast/crew acknowledges the body actors and stunt doubles when that is so frequently something productions try to cover up and give all the credit to their big name. to act like people giving them credit without also heaping praise on pedro every time is some kind of slight is crazy to me.
it’s also delusional how much they fight against the idea that pedro hasn’t been on set much, especially in this last season, when everyone affirms thats the case. almost every time katee talks about stuff happening behind the scenes she says brendan, because that’s who she worked with the most! it’s not a conspiracy against pedro (bc why would they do that???) its just a fact that most of the on-set work is no longer done by him- and that’s fine! james earl jones and david prowse did vader that way, and both deserve credit for how his voice and body language came together to create the character. i think we should accept that din djarin has never been a character embodied by one actor in a way a lot of others are, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Hi there scout friend!
What is your favourite scene from The Mandalorian, and why?
Love, El
Hello, fellow Scout! Thank you for the ask!!!
I honestly don't know that I could pick a single favorite. I have a couple that come to mind.
In Chapter 1: The Mandalorian, I absolutely love the first fight scene with IG-11. Even though it is a high-action sequence, I think the dialogue and Din's body language is absolutely hysterical. It feels very emblematic of the series as a whole.
Tumblr media
In Chapter 10: The Passenger, literally every scene with Grogu trying to sneakily snack on the Frog Lady's eggs. It is peak toddler behavior, and I love it so much. It reminds us that Grogu really is just a kid, even with his age and how much he has seen. It's endearing and infuriating in the way only little kids can be.
Tumblr media
In Chapter 14: The Tragedy, I absolutely adore the opening scene with Din and Grogu in the cockpit of the Razor Crest. The way Din is clearly so impressed with and proud of Grogu's abilities and the way that although he clearly loves this kid, he feels so inadequate in caring for and training him breaks my heart every time. All Grogu wants is to be a kid and be with Din, but Din is convinced that he's doing what's best for him. It's such a sweet character moment for them.
Tumblr media
Okay last one, promise. In Chapter 24: The Return, I LOVE the huge Mandalorian mid-air battle sequence. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Truly one of my favorite action sequences in any piece of Star Wars media. It was so well done.
(I'm so mad I can't find a good gif of this scene, I'm going to have to go searching...)
Happy Scouting!!!

Apparently this is an unpopular opinion but I really enjoyed the Mando s3 finale (spoilers under the cut).
The one thing that annoyed me (at first) was how Gideon just suddenly randomly destroyed the frickin Darksaber. Like. Bro. Bo's literally been after this thing for twenty frickin years, it's been the plot point of the entire season, she FINALLY has it and you're really gonna just squash it. But it occurred to me that that could actually have a symbolic purpose; the Mandalorians united not because Bo had the Darksaber, but because they had a common goal: to retake Mandalore. Now that they've done that, I think they've realized that they can continue to be a united people under her leadership because she is, objectively, the best leader they could have, and not because of some antique sword. I think it symbolizes the start of a new era for Mandalorians, one not bound by tradition, but by their desire to be a united people again. And honestly, that's actually some beautiful story-telling. Yes, the Darksaber has immense importance to the people of Mandalore, but now that they've moved past their hatred for each other in an effort to rebuild their home, a sword that was used solely to prevent the people from killing each other out of anger is no longer necessary, and frankly would only be holding them back. You could compare it to the old samurai of Japan way back in ye olden days (obviously they weren't having internal feuding but they were trapped in their old ways by tradition much like the Mandalorians).
I was very pleased that Pedro's acting went back to being great, and that the episode was more Mando + Baby Yoda-centric, and I'm very happy that we're going back to it being about just them next season. With everything they talked about in the finale, I feel like it gave the seemingly odd decisions they made in the rest of the season context and closure, and it honestly massively improved my opinion of the season. Apparently that's a vastly unpopular opinion, but I'm used to being in the minority when it comes to preferences in Star Wars.
A couple of the popular negative opinions people have had that I did not agree with were that the way Bo got the Darksaber back made no sense, and that because she got it back Mando had zero reason to stick around with Bo. They clearly explained why it made sense for her to get the Darksaber in episode 6, and while it was on a technicality, what other way would she have gotten it? It didn't make any sense for Mando to keep it, and Bo really needed it, and they never would have fought each other for it. If they had, it would have been very unbelievable and very out-of-character for both of them. Bo may have been ambitious and desperate to get it back, but she's not heartless and Mando is her friend. She wouldn't fight the guy to the death just for the sword. And in reality, it makes perfect sense that she got the saber from the creature who got it from Din. It all checks out. Other than that, yeah, there might be no "literary reason" for Mando to have stayed with her, but as he himself explained, she saved his neck TWICE and is his friend, so he stayed out of loyalty. Helping her simply because he wants to do what he can makes perfect sense. Sometimes, believe it or not, people can do things out of the goodness of their heart simply because they want to help. That and the fact that he wanted Mandalore to be retaken just as much as she did made it make perfect sense.
At the end of the day, Star Wars fans are some of the pickiest people on Earth and all seem incapable of just enjoying a show because it's fun. It's Star Wars. It's meant to be a good time with fun characters and cool fight scenes; it doesn't need to be a timeless cinematic masterpiece with writing so captivating it's used as a cornerstone of literature for hundreds of years to come.
All in all, after watching the finale, I've changed my mind and decided that I did really enjoy this season. Episode 6 was a train wreck, yes, but the rest of the season was fun and I think necessary so that Mandalore and its people could finally get the closure and happy ending they desperately, DESPERATELY needed.
And, of course, I nearly frickin cried when Mando said he wanted to formally adopt Baby Yoda. My boys are legally a family now and I may cry.
Great season, better than everyone said it was, and y'all gotta take your expectations down a notch. It had a few bumps, but explained and worked through them a HECK of a lot better than a lot of things have. I enjoyed it, and I can like what I wanna like.
I may have forgotten something here but this is all I got for now lol
Peace out.

Spoilers for Mandalorian s3 finale
Do not expect in depth analysis it’s currently just past 10am and I am not fully awake. I’m going to start this off with my likes as if I went straight into my negative thoughts about this episode then this would just be a block of everything I did not like and we would never actually reach my positives.
Axe Woves I always found him extremely self-centered and for the past week I was one hundred percent sure he was some sort of spy. Just because I didn’t like him I had no basis to actually build this theory on just my pure hatred for the man. This episode proved me wrong in a good way and he redeemed himself a little.
Another thing I enjoyed was Grogu finally getting to use the force a bit more than just to do his Yoda flips. I always felt like they never used Grogu’s use of the force to its fully potential and I’m glad that had its time to shine with the team up with his dad.
Obviously I liked Din officially adopting Grogu. It took the man long enough. It does leave me wondering if Grogu’s parents are still kicking about and if so where. But I honestly don’t care to much I’m just glad Din finally saw that he needed to adopt him.
The Darksaber being destroyed. I liked that. I feel like it was always going to be an ongoing repetitive issue if it had not been taken care off. Obviously I’m sad we aren’t going to see any more fight scenes with it but its good that it’s gone.
In a way I feel like it being destroyed shows that a new age of mandalore is upon us. The Darksaber I feel always signified that mandalorian’s could never let go of the past that they were always looking back over there shoulder at what once was. But the saber being destroyed shows that the old ways were never always the best ways and that they need to let go and move on.
Dislikes:
The first thing I didn’t really like is a small gripe and doesn't really matter but Grogu using the force to shield Din, Bo and himself from the fire. It’s not that he wasn’t really capable off it. I’m just surprised by the fact he was well enough to do it. Like he is only small and he clearly struggled in TBOBF to calm down the beast in that, after all he took a nap after it. Surely he would be exhausted and would pass out after it?
I feel like it was to easy to defeat Moff, not that I don’t think it was realistic that they took him down that way. It could very well off happened like that. My problem with it is, is that it had been building up to it for the past few seasons and he was taken down in like an hour or two star wars time. Like there wasn’t much planning or nothing it was just guns and big explosions.
Din not being at the great forge lighting. He could have been there and then gone and done all the other stuff. It was a short scene it wouldn’t be that hard. He was one of the sole reasons that even managed to happen. If Din hadn’t nearly died twice in the second episode then continued to support Bo there would be no great forge lighting. He deserved to be there. I did like the scene minus that.
No goodbye or good luck scene between Din and Bo. I could not give to craps that they aren’t together like I like the ship yes It’s my fav ship of the show. But I knew that the likely hood of it becoming real was slim to none. But they had been side by side throughout the entire season and pretty much this episode and there was nothing. Well you could say the small nod in the living waters scene was it but no I don’t think so they deserved better.
I am thankful I watched this episode in the morning and not at night other wise I would not have slept I would be to busy trying to figure out how I would have done this episode.

can you do that tv show ask thing for Mando?
Absolutely!
1: Favorite episode and why
Ooh, this is hard. I’d say either 2x05 or 2x07. Season 2 is the best in my opinion.
2: Funniest/crackiest/it’s-terrible-but-I-still-love-it episode/scene
I mean, let’s be real, Star Wars doesn’t always do humor well. I think Christopher Lloyd’s cameo was pretty bad, but because I love him so much, I still love watching his 0.2 seconds of screen time lol
3: It’s-terrible-and-I-hate it episode/scene
Tbh, 3x06 was pretty bad. It just…didn’t really serve any purpose in the greater storyline? I understand Bo and Din had to get access to the other Mandalorians but the whole rogue droid plotline and the bad cameos…yeah, they could have done better.
4: Best episode/scene for my favorite character
I think it will always be Din removing his helmet in 2x07 on the Imperial base. Not just because we got to see Pedro, but because it was the first moment that he chose Grogu over the Creed.
5: Best episode/scene for my favorite ship
I can honestly say I don’t ship anyone on The Mandalorian. Star Wars and romance just don’t really go together for me.
6: Best episode/scene for a particular supporting character
I loved Mayfield’s monologue in 2x07. Loved that they added depth to his character, and I hope we get to see more of him somehow in future seasons.
7: Best episode/scene for a character I don’t usually like
If anyone followed me through this last season, they’ll know I was not a Bo-Katan fan. But her battle with Moff Gideon in 3x08 really changed my mind. It was such a great moment for her.
8: Most visually beautiful or interesting episode/scene
There’s been a lot of great visuals in Mando. I love the scene in 1x02 where Din is fixing his armor and his wound and Grogu keeps trying to help. The sparseness of the desert around them plus it being dusk is absolutely beautiful.
9: Most emotionally affecting episode/scene
The last ten minutes of 2x08. Hands down. No competition.
10: Most powerful use of music in an episode/scene
The score is easily one of the best television scores ever. Fight me. I think the most powerful musical moment so far has probably been the piece that plays over the end of 2x08 where Luke takes Grogu and Din is watching them leave and it’s all strings and tears and just beauty.
11: Episode/scene that changed my perspective on the show
I wasn’t a big fan of the show until 1x03. The scene where Din’s covert bails him out and they fight the bounty hunters was what finally made it feel like Star Wars to me and I became hooked.
12: Episode/scene where the acting stands out
Pedro’s acting in 2x07. He made so many subtle choices with Din’s expressions and mannerisms with moving without a helmet. It really stands out for me.
13: Overall best-written episode
I’d say probably 2x05. There was so much build up behind Ahsoka finally appearing and they really didn’t disappoint.

The Mandalorian: The Return (3x08)
In all, this season of The Mandalorian was pretty baffling. I've chose to just sort of... go with it, accept what we've been given instead of trying to question the shape of things too much.
Cons:
I don't really care about powerful, special, one-of-a-kind weapons, but I did think it was very odd that the Dark Saber met such a strange, unceremonious end. Mostly because symbolically, it was this whole big deal that Bo-Katan had earned it, and her place as the head of Mandalore or whatever. I actually think a more powerful symbol would be her giving the weapon away at some point just like Din did with her, thus confirming that the Mandalorians don't need a specific gadget or tool in order to be honorable and fierce leaders. Instead, the bad guy just destroys it, and all that buildup around who gets the sword just felt like wasted time in retrospect? I don't know. Sort of odd.
So, I obviously love any scene where Grogu and Din Djarin are fighting side by side, desperately protecting one another at all costs... but in watching this finale, this long, drawn-out action sequence with Moff Gideon's Beskar-wearing storm troopers going toe-to-toe with the Mandalorians, I kept thinking about last season's finale. How the action was all tied up in Grogu specifically. How he had been taken, and Din was doing anything he possibly could to get him back. And how in the end, he had to let him go. This time, it's just... there are bad guys in the room, and they're trying to kill everybody in front of them because they want control of this planet. Grogu doesn't seem to have any special significance to them at all. It would have been easy enough to adjust this: play up the fact that Grogu is a Jedi, or at least a Jedi in training. Play up the fact that he represents the enemy of Moff Gideon on two different accounts, both as a Mandalorian and as a Jedi. There could have been something there, and instead the peril felt by our main characters felt rather incidental to the actual goal of the villains.
Ultimately, I liked this episode quite a bit, which I'll talk about in a second, but since it's the end of the season, it really brings to focus all the strangeness with the pacing, and the lack of focus on our lead characters. Grogu and Din just kind of... happened to be around for a lot of shit that went down. Mando's dedication to his people is touching, but then in the end, even though Mandalore is reformed and habitable, Mando is just going off to keep being a bounty hunter, working for the New Republic on a freelance basis. It feels very... full circle, would be the nice way of saying it, but honestly it feels kind of odd that after a whole season, our characters aren't really up to anything new that we haven't seen from them before.
Pros:
So, I really liked the action! That's a good place to start. Not much to say about it, but there was a good mix of aerial fighting between various flying armored men, there were ships, there were one-on-one intense battles between Gideon and Djarin, and then later Gideon and Bo-Katan... there was Grogu pulling out some seriously cool Jedi flips to keep himself safe from various attackers. All of it was dynamic and interesting and at times legitimately stressful!
As much as I've struggled to understand the way they've positioned Bo-Katan's character as sort of the unofficial lead of this season, I loved the moment when she took over the Gideon fight and told Djarin to go save his kid. That was a good representation of what their dynamic is: she is fighting her political rival for control of her planet and its sacred significance to her people. And Din just wants to make sure Grogu is safe! It's his ultimate purpose. I love that.
For now, it appears that Moff Gideon is dead, but before his death, we did see that he was endeavoring to create clones of himself. While the clones were seemingly destroyed, this does leave open the possibility of other Gideons hanging about somewhere waiting to pop up and be evil later down the line! I absolutely loathed the final Star Wars movie with Palpatine coming back and all that stupid nonsense, but I guess I do appreciate how we get these hints here in this show of the path that will lead to those later movies; I am a sucker for some cinematic universe continuity.
Obviously the best part of the episode is that Din Djarin formally adopts Grogu as his son, making him Din Grogu! It makes me emotional just thinking about it. I love that Djarin wants to take him on as an apprentice, wants to honor Grogu's place among their people, but because he's not old enough to officially take on the creed (he can't speak for himself), he needs parental permission. When Din makes the offer, and the Armorer says "this is the way", I got a little misty-eyed. Now, with the potential to take contracts all set up with Teva, and a nice little cottage on Nevarro, this father and son duo can relax and adventure as they so choose!
I think ultimately what this season has given us is the opportunity for Din and Grogu to hang out and go on little episodic jaunts for as long as people want to keep watching the show. And I kind of like that. I like the idea of having a fun sorta cowboy space show about a helmet-wearing father and his little puppet son that I can just chill out with. The issue is, this show also seems to care about expanding the world and explaining the political structures of things, of setting up this series as a bridge between other Star Wars properties with which we are already familiar. Both are worthy goals. I'm just not sure how well they're being meshed together at this point. We'll see what happens next, when this show returns probably in like two years or something. All in all, this wasn't a "good" season of TV, but I still had an okay time!
8/10

I guess this is my Thursday routine now, rambling about The Mandalorian. So I enjoyed this latest episode. It was fun watching Din and Bo go all buddy cop while Grogu vibed with the royals. Fun cameos with JB, Lizzo, and Christopher Lloyd. The planet looked beautiful and I enjoyed seeing the droid bar and the kind of mad tea party going on. Do I still have issues? Oh, yeah. The big thing I see people saying is well, Din never wanted the dark saber, him giving it to Bo makes sense. Ok, sure. But is it satisfying to watch? No, sorry. I could get down with Din not wanting it or the responsibility and ultimately giving it up, if it were just handled a little better, and wasn’t jammed into the last few minutes of the episode. We never really know how he feels about having it. First he doesn’t want it. Then he fights Paz for it. We could surmise from that, that he wants to keep it, at least out of spite. Then in that same episode when he has to stow all his weapons away at the airport we see a moment of hesitation before he puts the saber in the box with his other stuff. We never see him really consider having it or what it might mean, not even a little. Even if he did decide to give it up, it would’ve been nice to see a bit more thought about it. If he did truly want to just let it go, why did he wait so long? He’s had chances since the first episode to rid himself of this thing, so why didn’t he? Even the logic for him giving it to Bo seemed a bit flimsy. And this is the 2nd(?) time she’s gotten this thing. I’m just tired of it now.
But honestly at the end of the day it doesn’t matter whether he keeps it or not. None of that matters. What matters is that Din has been given no room to grow. He is static. And it feels like all the growth and character development he might’ve had has been shifted to Bo. It feels like Jon fell out of love with writing Din and realized he’d prefer to write Bo instead. Again, I don’t mind her getting developed but damn, can’t we do both?
I know people have been saying well, it’s called The Mandalorian. Not the Din Djarin show. Yeah, that’s true but that feels so flimsy to me. Wouldn’t we all have been pissed if Aang had never gotten time to shine or grow and mature in atla? It’s the same thing here. Other characters were given time to grow and develop but we never forgot about Aang either. Whether you like him or not he still had the chance to grow. We haven’t really seen that with Din. He feels like such an afterthought. Even with all the cameos last season he still had his hero moments, he had his time with Grogu, we got the chance to understand how he felt. With a few exceptions there hasn’t been much of that yet and we’re almost to the end of the season. I don’t hate this season but it’s getting increasingly harder to care about this show. The way it was described before it came out, or at least how Pedro described it, it seemed that Din was going to take a more active role in the unification of the Mandos even if he didn’t decide to rule them. I know they can’t say much on these press tours but I don’t know, maybe they had to do some rewrites. But even so, it just feels sloppy to me. And even the argument of him not having to grow anymore cause he’s where he wants to be doesn’t really hold water with me either.
Yes, he’s back with Grogu and his clan but where are the tender moments between them? Outside of two very quick scenes in the first 2 episodes and that one duel with Ragnar we have not seen them interact much. And that’s the stuff I live for. Their bond should only be growing stronger. They should have more time for Din to teach him, and even to learn more about him. We don’t have any of that. We haven’t even seen Grogu’s little silver ball, something that was so close to him, another expression of their bond, and it’s nowhere to be found. Hell, we haven’t even seen any whistling birds. And no, it’s not just about toys and accessories. But these are tools Din has had from the beginning, things he could be using in some of the situations he’s been in, like with that crazy droid on Mandalore, and conveniently he just hasn’t used them.
I’ve got no problem with the focus shifting to the rest of the galaxy, retaking Mandalore, or other characters. But just give the main character some time to shine so it feels like you still care about him. He doesn’t have to be the ruler, or the chosen one. But he doesn’t have to be this stagnant character either. There’s so much untapped potential with him and Grogu and I feel like it’s just not being explored. It felt like they were setting something interesting up and then just decided to drop it.

a lot of star wars people i follow or mutuals REALLY dislike the thought of bo katan and din as a possible couple. And most of these people have seen clone wars and rebels and whatever but I'm here not haven't seen any of those yet and i ship them. But honestly I don't think i could hate bo katan tbh. Being very very honest. I think i rarely hate characters in whatever franchise there is. And I'm rooting to see some din and bo action lol. Someone reblogged yesterday a post on my dashboard that said that one of the din stunt doubles said there's some actions with bo katan that they're kinda physical. And people were talking about hoping it's not romantic. Like pls it's star wars 😭😭😭😭 that won't happen. It's probably a fucking fight and I'm ready for it either way. Tha angst of it all....
oh nooo I don't want them to fight! 😩
I haven't seen the animated series either so I'm only judging her character by The Mandalorian series but some people are being ridiculous when it comes to hating her character. Literally yesterday I saw a post where she was called a RACIST for pointing out a fact that Boba Fett is A CLONE. Like yeah, she was rude about it (not that I care about a fictional character's feelings about something that is not even officially a thing in the real world – I mean we don't have clones in real life who would feel offended by that scene; some people need to go outside and touch some grass) but anyway what the hell was racist about it, I have no idea... 🤔
Not gonna lie, I'm just physically attracted to her and I think she's cute with Grogu and I'm a cosy lovey dovey family girl so I'd just like them all to be a family in my fantasy world inside my head although I know it won't happen in canon but it's okay 🥰

This is certainly not a new take. but I really do think Din Djarin will be the key to Mandalore’s revival and will be the “Mythosaur” the Armorer spoke of in legend. Especially compared to Satine and Bo Katan’s previous attempts to lead.
Tumblr media
Satine understood peace and stability was needed for Mandalore (after witnessing the Mandalorian civil war which more than likely influenced her pacifist ideals), however she tried to force change way too quickly and in a frankly horrible way as brought up in this post. She thought eradicating the Mandalorian warrior traditions and identity would help lead to peace, but instead it fractured the Mandalorians as a people and tore it apart from the inside out allowing someone like Maul to take control.
Tumblr media
Bo Katan understands the importance of Mandalorian identity and heritage as warriors, but all that she really knows is war. A confession she herself made to Ahsoka in the Season 7 TCW finale. Another thing that breeds trouble is her disrespect for certain Mandalorian sects and backgrounds which makes further unity under her much harder. Yes she’s a great warrior, but to unite and lead a people in the long run takes so much more than just being good at fighting.
Din however, brings both of these ideals together and possesses a trait that stands out from the Mandalorians of the past and even present: Meekness and humility.
Tumblr media
He’ll often find ways to settle issues peacefully and take time to negotiate instead of being so quick to shoot.
Tumblr media
But will fight and do it well if he needs to whether to defend himself or someone else like Grogu.
Tumblr media
He takes time to understand others, their culture, backgrounds, and shows respect towards them.
Tumblr media
Is not power hungry in the slightest, having no interest to rule or have any sort of power over anyone even when the opportunity arises.
Tumblr media
Even in the frankly controversial scene in TBOBF, it was yet another element of proof that Din is deserving of the Mand’alor title. I’ve seen people suggest that Din should’ve disowned the coven and more traditional Mandalorian ways in response, but honestly... That’s something Bo Katan would do. Instead of being defensive and angry, Din practiced humility and accepted the consequences of removing his helmet. A further step being that he intends to regain his title as a Mandalorian by doing it the traditional Mandalorian way, showing he doesn’t think himself above consequence or the Mandalorian code and traditions.
In a way, he embodies what both Satine and Bo Katan hoped to achieve but struggle to do so. He respects The Way and being a warrior is ingrained with who he is, but also takes time to negotiate and understand others around him. To me at least, I think this is what ultimately makes Din the leader Mandalore needs that Satine and Bo Katan cannot and have not been able to fulfill.

—---
There were moments in your meditation where you unexpectedly were brought back to memories of your old life. Breaths in and breaths out and suddenly you were no longer sitting in the darkened hulls of the Razor Crest, whisked away to the night where you’d lost your master. Recollections of battles, scarred skin, and betrayal; your master had always warned you of the perils a Jedi’s life entailed. You honestly assumed you would always be within the hands of a Jedi master as their padawan.
So, when life took a turn and you found yourself within the care of a Mandalorian warrior and his foundling, calling it a surprise for you would be an understatement. You’d honestly chuckle at the memory of your first encounter. You’d been laying low from the New Republic in a small town in Tatooine, working at a local cantina, when you’d caught wind of what you thought was a lead to a Jedi. To your dismay, you found yourself aiding a Mandalorian and the town in defeating some monster? You’d been in the town for little over a year now, and though you’d never gotten a good look at it you were more than happy to help. The town, though quaint, was just not it. You’d heard rumors of other Jedi hiding off world, and couldn’t build the courage to venture out of the town due to that damned lizard dragon thing. It pissed you off.
After the dragon’s defeat the Mandalorian was quick to approach the youngling with powers.
“Excuse me?” A wry grin quickly spread across your lips. Din towered over you like a giant and you couldn’t help but giggle at that. He pretended to ignore it.
“Are you a Jedi master?” There was no way to tell his expression from behind his helmet, but you chose to assume that he was smiling. “I’ve been tasked to bring a child to a Jedi master.”
You inhaled deeply before answering. “By chance, can you add an extra child to that list?”
“Excuse me?”
Memories like those would pull you into trances time and time again. Others, such as late night snack raids with Grogu or just talking with Din at the crest’s hull. But it was the night you’d lost your master that haunted you the most during meditation.
Sometimes, a certain Mandalorian would stumble into the room whilst you were deep in trance. He would watch his foundling with curiosity, unsure of what to make of the situation. He was well aware of the young child, and their connection with this Force. However it is because of this lack of understanding that whenever the youngling participates in mystical activities that Din finds himself surprised. Impressed, even. All Din knew at childhood was physicality and fights. The youngling before him knew of mystical ways, something he will never understand.
The ways of the Jedi. What a curious thing.
Grogu was still in need of a proper Jedi master. The little thing lacked any kind of proper training. You, on the other hand, already had some. It wasn’t enough for you yourself to train Grogu on your own, you’d told him once to his dismay and exasperation, you were still learning. How long does a Jedi foundling train for anyways? Kid’s lived a long time.
Din shifted his weight from one side to another as he took one last look at his foundling. What could you possibly be thinking about in that little head of yours?
“We have to go, now!”
A deep inhale. Smoke spiked your nostrils. Your body convulsed as memories washed away and you were brought back to the grave reality, eyes flying open and darting around the vicinity. Heat flared throughout your body and pounding blood dwelled in your ears. Karga yelled orders to any ears who’d listen, scrambling to gather his weapons and get out of the burning room. Cara crouched in front of an injured Din, holding his hand.
“Y/N, get out of your head and move.”
You quickly looked around the room. Debris and ceiling were falling around you. How much longer could the group stay here without risk of being crushed?
“Go.”
What? You whirled to Din, exasperated in a matter of seconds. He couldn’t be serious.
“No.” You frowned, shaking your head and bit your lip. “Din, don’t say that. We can get you out of here.”
“There isn’t enough time,” Din dismissed, pain etched on his face.
Beside you, IG-11 lifted Grogu into his grasp. The droid turned to you and though there was no eyes on the machine you stared at its face for a moment before accepting Grogu into your arms. Grogu, who was still recovering from everything he’d been through. After all of this, he needs to rest. “Escape and protect this child. I will stay with the mandalorian.”
“Promise me you’ll bring him back.” Cara held a stern stare to the Droid.
“You have my word-”
A yell erupted and the ground shook. Cara quickly pushed you back and you stumbled from the surprise, taking a moment to regain your stance before looking around to see what had happened. Your eyes widened to find that IG-11 had been crushed by fallen debris. Wires and jagged whirring of broken wheels spurred amidst the vicinity. A small frown tugged at your lips.
“Quickly, Y/N.” Cara called to you, taking Grogu out of your arms before making her way to Karga, who awaited at an opening. You started behind her, but slowed to a pause.
“I’m staying.” You declared.
All eyes turned to you.
“Y/N.” Din’s voice came out.
Cara looked as though she wanted to say something when a large piece of debris fell between the two of you. You quickly brought your arms up to shield your face from the blaring heat. “Go!” Unknown to you, Cara watched you with a look of determination and trekked back to the opening. Cara and Karga were gone by the time you looked up and Din was calling you to get out of there. A quick inhale burned your lungs and you quickly move to crouch next to him.
“Din,” You began, quickly pulling the sleeves of your cloak farther up your arms due to the extreme heat. Your hands shook but you tried not to let that bother you and you chose to focus on the man before you.
The Mandalorian shook his head and tried to push your arms away from him. He grunted, “Kid, get out of here. My time is over.”
“No,” You shook your head. “Din, I-I can heal you. For once, trust me on this, please.”
There was no way to indicate what Din thought. But you pressed your lips together and sighed a relief when Din hesitantly gave you the okay.
“I need to take your helmet off,” You began, reaching to grab his helmet with both hands. Suddenly a hand reached out and stopped you, you winced at the strong hold Din had on your wrist.
“It is.. Forbidden.” Din explained, his grip on your hand faltering ever so slightly. “No living thing has seen me without my helmet since I swore the Creed.”
Around the two, debris fell even more and shouting could be heard from afar. It was either they’d get crushed or they’d be found.
“You’re not the only one breaking a promise,” Din didn’t miss the way your voice wavered, though you doubt he knew what you meant.
“Alright.”
To his words, you nodded and released your grasp from the helmet. Din grunted and denied your help in sitting himself up, and showed little pain despite aching all over. He lifted his hands to his helmet and paused a moment, hesitant no doubt, and took off his helmet in one quick, faltering motion, as though he wanted to get it over with.
And you stopped yourself.
You’d lived with the Mandalorian and his foundling for quite some time now. You had counted the days until you’d lost track. 6 months, minimum. Throughout those 6 months, you’d make a sort of game to yourself and imagine what Din looked like. You liked to give him blue eyes, a rugged look and a scar on his face. Some days, he’d be blonde, other days he would have curls. Staring at Din now, you realize that you were very bad at that game. But still, there was a sort of relief to finally connect a face to his name.
Din furrowed his eyebrows at your small smile before giving you a small, closed lip smile himself. Inside, he was panicking, but you can’t have another reason to get anxious when you had a very important job at hand.
There was really something special about the force. With proper training, not only could it be used as a defense mechanism but could also be used for medicinal purposes. You explained this to Din as you hovered your hands over his injuries, informing him that you were actually speeding up his body’s natural healing process. Not too far from you, another debris fell to the ground with a thud, and you hurried to finish the process as fast as you could.
Din looked unsure of himself as you did this. You didn’t blame him. He probably felt exposed without his helmet.
“Too bad about the droid.”
A small chuckle came out of you, “You’re just happy you don’t have to deal with him anymore.”
“Probably would’ve made a droid joke about my brain to make me feel better.”
“That’s… stupid.” You shook your head again with a small smile. You already started missing the droid. “Funny, but stupid.”
“Okay, time to go.” You finished up and gingerly helped Din put his helmet back on. As the cool beskar metal passed over his mouth, you heard the faintest whisper of a thank you. The two of you shared a small smile before you reached over and wrapped one of Din’s arms across your shoulders, grunting at his weight as you lifted him up.
“Y/N,” Din started as the two of you wedged through the hole that IG-11 had created, “Grogu used his powers to save us from a soldier.”
You faltered in your steps, unaware, “ What?”
Another sharp inhale and you looked around your surroundings, gasping ever so softly. Around you was the main control unit of the Razor Crest, stars overhead and the occasional beeping of machinery. Beside you sat a certain Mandalorian concentrating on maneuvering through the system.
“You did it again.”
Din looked at you, donning his beskar so you couldn’t make his expression. Now that you thought of it, you hadn’t seen his face since that time you healed him.
“What?” You spoke, having not registered his words at all.
“That, force thing.” He gestured to your directions, “sometimes it doesn’t feel like you’re here whenever you get lost in thought.”
You shook your head, rubbing your eyes. It was getting late. “Couldn’t have put it to better words myself, Din.”
A silence falls among you two, and Din glances at your direction again. “Will Grogu be able to do that?”
“Uh… yes,” You shrugged, picking at loose threads of your robe. “But what’s been happening to me hasn’t been on purpose. I’m not in control of it, yet, but still it’s really an inconvenience.”
“Has it been happening for long?”
A shake of your head, “Little while now, my master says it's something some jedi go through after stressful events. Normally you can snap out of it with the help of another Jedi. They just go right in with the Force and do their ‘Force thing’.”
Din chuckled at the little mockery you did of his confusion with the Force. “Hopefully we can find you a Jedi master. Until then, I’m counting on you to help Grogu as best as you can.”
“Yeah, I know.” You smiled, nodding to his words, “He’s excelling wonderfully too. It’s scary honestly, it’s almost like he’s a natural at it. But there’s only so much I can do for him. He needs a master.”
Din hesitated for a moment before calling your name out, earning a hum from the teen beside him, and continued. “Your master… what were they like?”
“Oh,” You didn’t expect this question, though the topic hadn’t been discussed throughout your stay at the Razor Crest. A small frown formed on your lips as you remembered your beloved master but a small smile replaced it. “My master was like a father to me. Everyday he’d guide me through the Force and he always had an answer to any question. I was lucky to be his Padawan.”
“With luck, Grogu can find a good master like yours.”
“No one’s like Master Balfur. But I agree, he needs a good master.”
“As long as you both are together, you will be taught well.”
And you chose to leave the conversation at that, knowing that there was a chance you would not be going with Grogu. Padawans do not have the luxury of choosing their masters. It was not certain the Jedi would allow you to go with Grogu, especially with the prior history the two of you have. But this was a conversation meant for another time. The atmosphere of the ship was calming and it lulled you to sleep, with a yawn, you draped your robes over you like a blanket and bade Din goodnight.
….
Another inhale. A chill shot down your spine and you looked around your surroundings with deep breaths. Where were you? You’d done it again, didn’t you? Around you machinery beeped and alarms flared from outside of the control room of the ship. That’s right, you and Grogu were just rescued by Din and the others. At one moment, you were running with Grogu in your arms when Din went off to fight Moff Gideon on his own, yelling at you to find Fennec or any of the other women. The next, well, this was the next. You must have fallen into a trance again.
“Kid, kid, Y/N!” A hand grasped your shoulder, shaking you to attention. Your eyes met cool beskar. “Stay with me, now’s not the time.”
“I-I’m sorry it just-”
And you froze. Something was calling for your attention, it came so suddenly and intensely that you drew several shaky breaths and tried to recognize what caused it. Another presence. That’s what it was. Whatever it was had been so overbearing that you drew another staggered breath and looked towards Din. His attention was focused on Grogu, sitting beside you staring at a monitor.
“Someone’s here.” You whispered, taking Din’s attention back. Your eyes fell to the screen and had a glimpse of the person who was quickly approaching. Your heart jumped at the sight of Jedi cloaks and lightsaber in hand. Quickly, you and Din made eye contact and a small smile grew on your face.
Seeing your reaction, Din gathered Grogu into his arms and began towards the door.
“Open the doors.”
But opening the doors was not going to be as simple as you thought. In front of the doors was a wall of four women whose pieces were pointed at the door, ready to fire whoever came. Cara narrowed her eyes at Din’s request but kept her piece aimed.
Din spoke once more, his voice a bit more stern than prior. “I said open the doors.”
“Are you crazy?” Fennec asked, eyes locked on the door.
And without a word, Din placed Grogu on the mainframe and pressed a button. You stopped beside him, fingers running over the helm of your lightsaber in case. Slowly the doors opened and among the smoke a cloaked figure entered the room. All attention was drawn to the lightsaber in their hand, some were apprehensive of what they would do with it and others relieved to see a familiar weapon in the room. The cloaked figure slowly clasped the saber to their belt before removing their hood and revealing their face.
And quickly, you dropped to the ground on one knee. Din took a step back, deterred by the sudden action his foundling took. Did you know this person to be doing such an action?
From where you knelt, your mind was clouded with the stories your Master had told you of the great Luke Skywalker. Like other padawans, you were struck with admiration. But you were also struck with great intimidation to be in his presence. It was a natural instinct to kneel to Skywalker, though it earned questionable glances from the other people in the room.
“Are you a Jedi?” Asked Din, hesitance in his voice.
“I am.” Luke confirmed with a small smile. His attention was drawn to your kneeled figure and then to Grogu, who peeked from behind the chair Din had placed him on. “Come little one.”
Your head stayed bowed to the ground as you showed no sign of moving. Grogu, on the other hand, turned his attention to Din. The Mandalorian took a small look between the two before addressing the Jedi. “He doesn't want to go with you.”
“He wants your permission. He is strong with the Force, but talent without training is nothing. He will never be safe until he fully masters his abilities.”
You said nothing while Din said his goodbyes to Grogu, not wanting to take away this moment from the pair. You didn’t even budge when Din removed his helmet. Before you knew it, Grogu was on the ground and looking up at you curiously. Still kneeled, you gave him a small smile that quickly dropped when Din began speaking once more.
“They have the force too.” Din gestured to you. “I’ve taken them under my care too. They’ve helped Grogu with his powers, but they are still in need of a master.”
Luke’s eyes fell to your figure, though you shook slightly from where you knelt, unwilling to look at the Jedi. “They have much more to learn about the Force, but they cling to the past. If they were to ever grow stronger they must learn to let go and be with a Master. Stand, young one.”
You obeyed, slowly raising yourself to meet Luke’s eyes. Honestly, you had no clue how you didn’t combust from the absolute intimidation you felt staring into his blue eyes.
“I can help you finish your training,” Luke offered, “I recognize I will not replace your previous master, but I will honor their endeavors to train you well with the force.”
All eyes fell to you. But you snapped your head to Din, your mouth open but you had nothing to say when you saw his face. Din stood quiet, his expression somber from having said goodbye to Grogu. No one could blame him. The relationship they shared was a familiar one, going as far to say that Grogu was like a son to Din wouldn’t be too far from the truth. After being alone for so long, having a bright presence such as Grogu in his life must have brought some sort of comfort to the Mandalorian. Now that Grogu is leaving, what will become of him? You frowned slightly. Would Din be fine alone? Sure, he was a grownup. But that didn’t matter, loneliness comes at any age.
The more you studied Din, the more you realized that you empathized with him. There was still pain carried inside you from losing your master, you could relate to his feelings. It may not be the same, but similar nonetheless. He doesn’t deserve to lose another person right now.
With a look of determination, you nodded to yourself and turned back to Luke.
“Master Skywalker,” You addressed, beside you Din pondered on the name as it was the first time someone addressed the cloaked Jedi. He had heard that name before, though he couldn’t point where. “Though I’m honored to have this opportunity, I must stay with him and fully let go of my past before I continue my training.”
“Y/N.” Din started, taking a step forward . “Don’t. Go with the Jedi, you still need training and Grogu should have his sibling with him.”
You shook your head and turned to Din. “I’m staying with you.”
“Careful, young one.” Eyes turned to Luke once more. “Untrained power can lead to many dangers. Do not let yourself be swayed by the means of others. You will need a master, do not wait.”
“I’ll receive training,” You confirmed to Luke, nodding to him. “I… just need time.”
A small smile formed on his lips and Luke gave you a nod. You turned to Grogu and gave him one last hug, asking him to take care of himself and remember you, before letting him go to the Jedi master. To your surprise, a droid emerged from behind Luke with several beeps. Again, you found yourself intimidated at the recognition of the droid R2-D2.
Grogu stared wide eyed at the droid, listening at the noises the droid made before asking to be picked up by Luke. The Jedi master bent down and picked up the youngling, smiling warmly at his first student before meeting your eyes.
“May the Force be with you.”
“May the Force be with you.”
It had been a long time since you’d spoken those words. The last person who’d said that to you was your Master. There was a sort of comfort that came to you from this, knowing that there were still Jedi out there after everything that had happened. You weren’t alone. You’ll find others.
But for now, you stayed behind and next to Din as Luke left the room. You waved goodbye to Grogu, and waved until the little green child left your sight before dropping your hand with a sigh.
“Y/N, you-” Din stopped at your raised hand.
Quietly you placed your hand down, “I’ve lost my parents and my master, I’ll say goodbye to you when I decide myself. Besides, you need me.”
Din’s shoulders slacked after a few moments, and a small smile formed on his lips.
“Alright, let’s get going.”
“Kid, you’re in your head again. Snap out of it.”
You blinked with a sharp inhale, looking around your surroundings. Din stood not too far from you holding a bowl of food in both hands. He started your way.
“S-sorry.” You accepted a bowl from him and looked in, smiling softly to see it was your favorite.
“Don’t apologize. You’re not doing it as much as you did before.”
You hummed at the food in your mouth, savoring the flavor before swallowing. It’s true, you’d been maintaining your skills using the Force and working to improve the issues you’ve been facing. All while helping Din with his missions. Recently, he’d begun training you with his own fighting style so that you were well rounded in combat for when you left to go off with your own master. After a long talk, Din convinced you to promise to return to Luke once Grogu completed his training. Though you’d rather not leave the Mandalorian alone, you were fine with switching places with Grogu eventually.
“I was just thinking about everything that’s happened to us. And the future.”
A small pause.
“Din, where are we going next?”
And as you listen to Din inform you about your next adventures, you could only hope that you were doing your master right with your decision to stay with the Mandalorian. Though you were not receiving Jedi training, you were learning an abundance of things from the beskar man. Following Din, you’ve experienced rebellions and moments of humanity. You’ve grown with the Galaxy, molded by the people you’ve aided and the memories you’ve made. Would your master be proud? To see you displaced without a master and travel the galaxy? It was not a decision you regretted, to stay with the Mandalorian.
You’ve yet to be visited by your late master in a ghostly form. If he ever appears, will he validate your decision?
Another bite, and you hoped. That’s all you felt like you could do. Hope.

Can we please have a scene next week where Din takes out the darksaber just because he considers it as another handy weapon that gets the job done quickly but all the other characters know what it is and they sort of just- 😳😳😳 what the fuck, we're fucking outta here and they just run or do some stupid shit, further proving that Din doesn't know or give a flying fuck about the saber and it's story. Please? And bonus points if Din just like stares at everyone and quietly asks himself why people have been surrendering lately as opposed to fighting and he's just so irritated that he hasn't gotten into a good battle in a while. PLEASE???
Tumblr media
Honestly, I just want a darksaber scene. For research purposes. Not for any other demented reason. Not at all.

The Pedro Boys in Love is Blind
Anybody as obsessed with Love Is Blind as I am???? Been watching the new season (Lauren and Cameron from S1 still my fav), and was thinking about how our fav boys would react to the show...
A/N: obviously original idea goes to Netflix, just a fun crack idea to get my mind going. for the case here any children/relationships in canon don’t exist, but general storylines are referenced. written as gender neutral!
(if you’re unfamiliar, the premise is these people fall in love/get engaged without ever seeing each other, then meet, live together, and have a wedding a few weeks later where they reveal whether they want to go through with the marriage by saying I do/I don’t at the altar. 10/10 trashy tv watch, on Netflix)
Tumblr media
Din Djarin: won’t admit it but he’s INTO IT. This is literally his life. no one knows what he looks like. explains his religion and how devout he is, which scares some partners off. One person gives him a chance, lets him explain it and how it’s about honor and family and all that jazz, and they realize they have a lot in common, they’re just not mandalorian. Din proposes, but the partner has trouble feeling like he’s actually into them, since he rarely shares his emotions. Both say I do.
Frankie Morales: Waits to bring up the coke/South America stuff until they’re halfway to the wedding. the partner feels betrayed he didn’t tell them sooner (AKA in the pods), but he didnt want to mess things up. they fight and make up; he may try to leave at the wedding, but his friends talk him out of it, and they end up both saying I do, even though the show makes it seem like they will both say I don’t.
Marcus Pike: Every person in the pods is his true love. He’s super into it. He really does not care what they looks like. Several people fight over him; he proposes within the first episode with his grandmother’s ring. Things outside the pod are rocky, but he always lays everything out on the table, and truly believes he will end this married. he says I do, but the partner says I don’t, and in his sad exit interview, he says hes hopeful to eventually find the one.
Jack Daniels: Every single person pegs him as a cowboy immediately. They put a big focus on his accent every show. If he commits to someone they say he looks exactly how they expected him to. they make it to the altar, partner says I do, but Jack says I don’t, too hung up on his sweetheart to go through with it, and the partner is absolutely devastated. Jack is upset too, knows he messed up, refuses to give any sort of exit interview. may try to reach out to the partner again after the show, but they have trouble opening back up to him again.
Javier Peña: Plays Never Have I Ever with every partner and reveals a lot of sex stuff he’s tried. Won’t get into any of his deeper thoughts/fears/etc., doesn’t end up proposing even though several partners are super into him and fight over him. Honestly doesn’t even know why he’s on the show (Maybe a bet from Steve?). After the pods it comes out that he’s actually hooked up with several of them already, just being on the local singles scene, and people always talk about how great he is in bed in like “tell all” reddit posts that show fans eat up.
Pero Tovar: super worried the entire time that the other person won’t like his scar. Tries to warn them he’s ugly but producers won’t let him. he stews quietly and gives dirty looks to any of the other guys who talk to him, and theyre all low key scared of him. Person he ends up with kisses him on the lips when they first meet, then runs a finger over the scar before kissing it, too. he tries to act tough about it but his eyes are glassy. they both say I do.
Marcus Moreno: Super genuine through the pods. Makes a connection with someone but is a bit trigger-shy with the proposal. Feels like he’s met his best friend, reveals his powers outside the pod. Partner is thrown off but rolls with it; overall they have very little drama and aren’t shown much on the show, but both stay together after the show ends, probably get married a few years down the road with this as their funny meet cute.
Oberyn Martell: Always talking about sex. Outside the pods, always making innuendos and talking about how many children he wants and he’s ready to start now. Definitely says I do at the end, no hesitation. If his partner is just as into it (overtly sexual, thinks he’s charming) they will also say I do.
Max Lord: Acts like a rich entitled prick in the pods. Talks about how great his company/life is and how he can provide so much to anyone, but never really makes any deep connections. several partners think he’s in it just to be on TV, which turns them off. doesn’t even attempt a proposal, and honestly overall gets little screentime other than at the beginning to make people talk about how he’s an ass.
Ezra: Literally will not shut the fuck up in the pods. All the dates go way over time to the point where they’re in there for hours and hours. if he does make a connection/propose he may not get as much screen time as other couples; kind of just a boring so-so overall, not enough drama for TV. he’s worried about his arm but he definitely tells them about it in the pods, and the producers spin it as his dramatic backstory. May not say I do, but won’t break it off after the wedding; will say they need more time to decide.

Master Molly, it's me again!! Would u have any advice on writing action scenes??
WHY YES I DO!
Keep it simple. Action scenes are complicated images as they are. You don't need to go crazy with lots of adjectives and adverbs. For example, if someone's punching someone else, we can assume they were hitting hard. We don't need "They punched him hardly" or any filling words like that. Stick to use really active verbs rather than passive (ex. "crashed to the floor" rather than "was knocked to the floor") to create a better flow.
Use vivid verbs. While you're trying to keep them active and simple, also try to use a verb that really encapsulates what you're picturing—and try to create a variety. Repetition can really drag a fight scene on if they're "punching" this and "punching" that. Use a thesaurus if you must to get a variety and help to keep the scene jumping around with excitement.
Remember its purpose—and stick to it. Are you including this fight scene just because you wanna see a character be (pardon my French) badass? Honestly, that's justified. But that's still a purpose to remembered as you write the scene. Don't get so carried away with the action that you forget how the character is reacting to this situation and what the outcome ought to be to serve the purpose of the story. That's why for season two of "Security," I had Gideon taunting Din verbally throughout their duel and had Din showing lots of emotion, because it fit my narrative better than that of canon.
These are three quick tips I have for you! If you would like more, please reach out again!

pairing: din djarin x reader (no use of y/n)
Summary: after spending the last 3 weeks on a bounty, din decides to give you the day off, but personal space was the last thing you wanted after spending so much time alone.
wordcount: 2.6k
warnings/tags: alcohol, drinking, language? maybe? i dont remember, lots of fluff, mutual pining, mostly from din’s pov
A/N: hi so i have never actually posted a fic before oop. i have them i just ~dont share~ so this is something new to try for now!
Mando jumped when the hatch fell open, shaken out of light sleep. His hand immediately fell to the blaster tucked into the holster but froze when he saw her trudging up the ramp. She was holding some sort of drink in one hand, her other arm held out to the side as if she was walking on a balance beam. The girl was muttering under her breath, obviously concentrating way too hard on not spilling whatever liquid was frothing in the glass.
When she got to the hull of the Razor Crest she let out an exasperated sigh.
“Hey Mando!” the girl yelled a little too loud, “I’m home!!”
The Mandalorian said nothing. She leaned against the frame and held the glass out to him, panting and starting to slide to the floor.
“I- I got one for-for you!”
He had given her the day to be off on her own, considering how safe the new system they’d landed in was known to be. Maker, she’d spent the last three weeks couped up in the crest by herself. Cabin fever had never really gotten to him, but when he came back this time, bounty flung over his shoulder, it was obvious that it had gotten to her.
He’d felt bad telling her to stay on the ship and only run to the shop when necessary, especially when she butted back in argument. The girl probably didn’t realize it was for her own good, a protective measure. She had rolled her eyes in annoyance, but when Mando didn’t falter in his stance through the fight she reluctantly agreed. He hadn’t meant to leave her alone this long, he truly thought it’d be just over a week, and there was a pang of guilt in his chest for leaving her here like this.
In his absence, the girl had thoroughly redecorated the ship. All sorts of… things, crafts, maker-knows-whats, were sitting atop crates, hung on the walls, clearly made using whatever she’d found rummaging through the spare parts bin and in the singular shop connected to the docking bay.
There was a string of little flickering lights hanging across the hull, pieced together from old console controls. It looked like she had sewed together some old fabrics to create some sort of rug, too.
The girl herself was asleep on the floor, surrounded by papers covered in writing and doodles. It was a mess- whatever she’d been writing was scattered and out of order. The kid was tucked under her arm, completely limp and snoring quietly. They looked like they’d passed out on the spot, mid-activity, on the Crest’s floor. She was wearing an odd combination of clothing he’d never seen before, had she made them herself? The child had a crown woven out of old wires sitting on his head, a matching one had clearly slipped out of her hair.
Mando silently thanked the stars not only for the fact that she was asleep when he got back, but that he had a layer of beskar to hide the smile he couldn’t keep from inching across his face. When he’d hired her a few months back to watch the kid and help copilot as needed, the girl had seemed so harsh. Her knuckles were scarred and she sneered when she called him out on his shit. Which she seemed to love to do.
In the cockpit, they’d sit in silence for hours, something the Mandalorian usually valued with others, but he wished she’d say something. Anything. Occasionally he’d feel her eyes trained on his helmet, or he’d glance back at her to see her clearly thinking deeply about something, but it was never a shared thought. It was quiet.
He’d never admit to it, but he was terrified that she was scared of him. Maker, she’d seen him come back out of breath and dragging a body behind him. She was always standing by when he was at his worst, catching her flinch out of the corner of his eye didn’t make it any better.
But there were moments. Moments he was sure she hadn’t noticed him watching. Moments when she was soft. There were little things. Like how she always gripped the armrest a little tighter and squeezed her eyes shut right before they landed, or how she places a gentle kiss on the kid’s head every night before tucking him in. He doubted she was aware, but she sticks her tongue out just a little bit and fiddles with her necklace when she’s concentrating. Sometimes she leaves little reminders around the ship for them both; they’re always signed with a smiley face at the end.
There were a few times he’d caught her humming to herself and dancing around on her toes. She was graceful- he wasn’t expecting that. For a fighter pilot with such a callous attitude, she was so delicate. So he stayed back, knowing she’d stop the moment she knew he was there.
Or how she left a third woven crown hanging from his seat in the cockpit. No, she didn’t wear a helmet, but it was pretty clear that she hid behind her own layer of beskar, too.
But they had never shared a moment like this: the girl slumped in the door frame, holding a drink out to him with a straw stuck in it. The child toddled over to her.
“Hey little dude!” she put the drink on the floor and held her arms out to him. “Look, sorry I’m back just a little smidgen of a bit late,” she said, words slurring, bopping him lightly on the nose. “I sorta kinda,” the girl’s voice didn’t get any quieter as she tried to whisper, “forgot where we were parked.” She shook her head and held a finger to her lips, “Don’t tell Mando.”
The Mandalorian let out a sigh loud enough to be heard through the vocoder and her head whipped around to face him. “I’m-” she started to get up, “I’m sorry I’m a little bit,” she held on to the wall as she stumbled forward, “a little bit late.” With a huff she gave up and sat back down on the floor, but continued to scootch herself closer to him, only stopping a foot or so before his feet.
Still, he was silent, and the color seemed to drain from her face. Under the cold stare of his visor, she tucked her head back like a child expecting to be scolded. After a few moments, she glanced nervously around the room, looking anywhere besides where she knew his eyes would be. She couldn’t tell the man in front of her was doing everything in his power to stifle a laugh as she struggled to sit up straight.
“Hey, so you’re actually a reeaallly quiet person,” she said softly, fidgeting a bit, “and I don’t know if you know or realize it or not, or if it’s on purpose, b- but when you go all quiet like this I really don’t know- I mean I’m terrible at reading the room anyways- but I can’t tell if you’re mad and I just-”
He cut her off. “I’m not mad.” Her face lit up slightly. Honestly, he wished he was angry. He should have been angry. His ship was a mess. But when she sat in front of him like this, he found it hard to be even the slightest bit irritated. He’d asked her to be back before nightfall, and for once she didn’t ask why or argue back.
“Oh.” She smiled softly then leaned all the way back so that her head skimmed the floor. She reached behind her, grabbing the blue drink and sliding it forward as she sat back up. “It was fun. Probably not your scene, I don’t really know, but the music was good, you would have liked that. You should have come.”
With a sigh, the Mandalorian rose to his feet and held a hand out to her, offering to help her up. She smiled again and let him pull her to her feet, immediately placing a hand on his shoulder to steady herself. His hand landed on her waist to keep her upright. “I don’t really do parties.”
She looked up at him. Somehow, even in her intoxicated state, she always managed to look him directly in the eye. “Yeah, I know. Sorta figured. To be really honest with you though, neither do I, I just wanted to do something a little bit different, yah know?”
“I know.”
They stood there in silence for a minute, then she rested her head against his chest. He froze. She’d never shown an ounce of affection, let alone stand together like this. He knew she was drunk. He guessed the girl wouldn’t remember this in the morning. But still, he held her tightly and savored the moment. It couldn’t have been comfortable, but she leaned against him anyway.
“But the credits I’d give to see you dance in this tin-man suit,” she knocked on his chest and giggled.
“I don’t really dance.”
“Liar. You can so dance. No way you’re that quiet and sneaky and can’t.” Her nose scrunched up as she scoffed at him, poking at his chest plate. “Me, however, whew, you really don’t know what you missed, shiny. You’re holding the worst dancer on this side of the galaxy.”
His head cocked to the side and he paused, watching her poke fun at herself, thinking of all the times he’d caught her tiptoeing around with the child. All the times she would sing quietly and swing her hips while out and about. The words slipped out of his mouth before he could stop them, “No I’ve seen you dance, you dance all the time.”
Her lips parted as a confused look fell across her face. He couldn’t fully read her expression, but it was clear a million thoughts were flooding her brain. He was instantly worried that he’d offended her. Not only had he invaded her privacy- he admitted it to her face. He worried she’d step away and the moment would end, that she’d go to bed and leave in the morning, taking her pay and her bag. But with one eyebrow raised and a soft smile playing across her face, she wrapped both arms around his neck.
“So I guess you owe me one then, huh? I brought you back a drink and everything.”
-----
You picked up on his almost inaudible laugh even through the modulator. Sure, you’d had a few drinks. You had been a little past the point of tipsy as you neared the Crest, but you were coming to your senses now. Were you over-exaggerating your state of mind? Most indefinitely. You couldn’t help it, though. The last 3 weeks had been an absolute shit-show.
You were fine until the end of the first week, then you started to get worried. The thought of him kept you up at night, so you told yourself that there was no way you could have possibly missed him. You only cared because this was your wellbeing now. I mean, before you got this position you spent every minute alone, too. This wasn’t any different.
Except that it was. And you hated that it was. This was just supposed to be another job. Somehow this man in a metal suit had weaseled his way into a soft spot in your heart.
He’d been so patient. Sure, you knew how to fly a ship, and you’re not clueless when it comes to mechanics, but this ship was unlike anything you’d seen before. So he taught you.
When he came back bloodied and bruised, he’d explain exactly what he needed you to do. In one instance he had gently guided your hand, slowly realizing he didn’t have to patch himself up anymore. Maybe he liked having you there. It was impossible to tell; maker, the few times you’d tried small talk it seemed to push him away even further.
But you didn’t want him further away.
You wanted him right here.
Figured that one out week two.
Week three the kid decided you didn’t need sleep. He cried and whined until you hung up that makeshift strand of lights. Then he sat and stared up at them like they were the most beautiful thing in the galaxy. So you made more things to pass the time. And more. And more.
You don’t even remember finally falling asleep, so waking up in the cot was a surprise. You slipped out of bed to figure out what was going on but stopped dead in your tracks when you heard him laugh.
The hatch to the cockpit was open, and from the low angle, you could just barely see the child sitting on the Mandalorian’s lap.
“It looks cute on you, kid.” The baby giggled and reached out for his arms. The wire crown was sitting on his head again. “How does mine look?”
The crown you barely remembered making for him during the third-week fever dream was clearly resting on his head, atop the helmet and all. The baby cooed.
When you landed he practically announced that the day was yours and you were free to go off and enjoy yourself. You thought about asking him to tag along but worried it’d be overstepping. Maker, the man had to have been just as, or even more, exhausted as you. Your pity didn’t run too deep, though. You knew it was selfish, but you hoped that maybe he’d want to be with you.
You tried your hardest to not seem disappointed when you turned to see him still in the hull as you strode down the gangway. You walked to clear your mind before popping into a cantina, which ended up being the center of life, and finding peace with the bottle.
The buzz had almost completely worn off by now, and you were back. And he was back. And he was holding you like he couldn’t risk letting you go.
-----
He looked down at her and let out a sigh. “Next time, sweet girl. We need to get you to bed before you’re out on the floor.”
Her face flushed pink at the sound of his words. Stars, at least he hoped that was why. He could practically see the wheels turning behind her eyes asking, ‘sweet girl? When did you get so soft on me?’
She pushed up on her toes, flattening her body completely against his. Her arms were still around his neck, and he carefully brought his hands together behind her waist. Had he not been wearing the kriffing helmet he would have been able to feel her breath against his neck as she nestled herself impossibly closer.
“Can I tell you a secret?” she whispered.
He gave a curt nod, his body stiff and tense under her.
“I wanted to leave the second after it started,” Her voice dropped even lower and her eyes fluttered shut, “... figured it’d be more fun here with you.”
His heart stilled as he realized her invisible beskar helmet had been lifted. He hoped it fell from her shoulders and rolled down the ramp, was lost in the night, maybe even stolen by scavengers, never to be seen between the two of them again.
She could feel his grip on her back tighten as his head relaxed onto her shoulder.
“Tomorrow night we’ll stay in,” his voice was just loud enough to pass through the modulator.
A smile crept across her face, “I’ll hold you to it, Mando.”
“I’m a man of my word.”
“I know.”
