Happy Disability Pride Month!
I created a flag for Hidradenitis Suppurativa
HS is a chronic skin inflammatory condition also known as acne inversus.
This condition causes lesions, along with deep seated nodules and abcesses, draining tracts and fibrotic scars.
These sores can occur where skin rubs together(or places rich in apocrine gland) areas such as the groin, armpits, buttocks, breasts( for AFABs) and in the inner thighs. However they can really occur almost anywhere.
Because of the associated pain, scarring, odor, sensitive locations, drainage( mainly pVss and bl00d) this chronic illness can negatively impact your mental health.
I wanted to create a flag to represent HS for pride month because I too struggle with it and I wanted to show support <3. It is not a very fun condition to deal with by any means.
I made different variations of the flag
Plain one with just the colored stripes
Stripes with the HS ribbon and Hidden disability sunflower
Stripes with HS ribbon
Stripes with Hidden disability sunflower
I also included the PNGs of the Purple Ribbon (which is used to signify HS awareness amongst other conditions) and the Sunflower which indicates disabilities which are hidden. For Hidradenitis Suppurativa is a condition that often goes unnoticed or unseen, because the lesions/boils often occur in places on the body that people (for good reason) don’t usually see.
Blue: for the toll that HS takes on mental health
Purple: referencing the Purple ribbon
Red: referencing the physical problems of this conditions : the sores, how mobility and daily activities are effected
White: the color that references to hidden disabilities
Black: referencing the social/ intimate isolation that can arise from this condition
I hope you enjoy! And happy Disability pride month!

DYSLEXIC/ DYSLEXIA FLAG
There are 2 symbols related to dyslexia, the pqbd symbol (https://www.pqbd.org )
Then the Heart Infinity shape which represents Creativity, this symbol came from a set of 3 different flags with versus color pallets.
There are those 3 flags as well as a out of order Rainbow flag that I found while searching for flags which was posted to Reddit.
I have 6 versions with the same color stripes. A mirror of Light Orange/Peach, Orange l, Grey with a center red. I have a plane flag, flag with the letters pqbd in the conners, then both symbols for both versions of plane and letters.
The colors picked are based on: Red which is the color of dyslexia to take back the negative association of Red markings on work for mistakes. (https://www.goredfordyslexia.org)
Grey for the Ribbon that represents Learning Disability’s
The the orange and peach/ light orange for colors that work best when reading and learning. Warm colors are seen as better for reading and holding attention of learners- black text on white paper is actually a pretty hard combination to read on.
I have the 6 flags, the information on color and a small infographic? That has the flags and information I put together already

It's Disability Pride Month! Listen to & amplify our voices! Disabled people are greatly affected by violence, fighting for basic rights, & always having to navigate barriers. We are constantly fighting against ableism, & for access to live our lives independently, safely, & equally. We have a variety of disabilities & experiences; including but not limited to: intellectual & developmental, invisible, mental illness, physical, sensory, & undiagnosed. Disabled people are hurting from lack of representation, especially when compared to more typical people. This bleeds into every area of our lives. This month we shine a spotlight on the people that are often marginalized, forgotten, or explicitly discriminated against. Especially disabled people who are BIPOC & LGBTQIA+. Disability Pride Month is our month to be loud, proud, & to let our voices be heard. We should be advocating & speaking up all year, but July is our month to celebrate! ________________________ Find me on FB @ Spina Bifida Awareness, Info, & Support | Let's Talk about Sex & Pregnancy for Women w/ Spina Bifida | Mental Illness Support for the Open-Minded 2.0 | Sexual Health for Women with Disabilities & Chronic Illness Made by @brightorangerainain

Okay can we just look at this for two seconds please, for July Disability Pride Month if nothing else
Tumblr media
This is the image description box.
When you click on an image to describe it, do you know where the image description box goes?
That's right! ON TOP OF THE IMAGE, SO YOU CAN'T SEE IT.
I believe in modern science and the ability to make this window movable. Like, this is a known technological marvel, dragging windows to one side.
Could we please for the love of God have that? I can't speak for anyone else, but it would make actually using this accessibility feature a LOT easier, it's just good UI sense
Thanks to anyone receiving this voidscream

Happy Disability Pride Month, ya'll!
Tumblr media
My disability is caused by Fibromyalgia, a disturbance in the nervous system causing chronic pain and fatigue. Among additional effects I deal with anxiety from it.
Had to retire at the age of 34 as I was unable to work anymore and my focus is now to just have a good life and stay as functional as possible. I might not be able to work, but I want to at the very least be able to take care of myself and live on my own, despite sickness.
Fibromyalgia is considered among the "Invisible disabilities", because it doesn't show on tests or blood samples, and people from the outside can't tell what is off unless you show heavily physical signs.
I have a limp the longer I'm on my feet and need a cane whenever I got outside now, to get more steps in with the support before I get tired.
Everyone have their struggles and battles, whether or not you can see it. It's been a struggle for me to come to accept I'm disabled, after a life spent being active and productive. Only to see that strength and energy just fade away into nothing. Fighting two years with a GP not giving a crap because "Your bloodworks are fine" and "It'll just pass on its own". Even after getting diagnosed by specialists, I was ignored and brushed off, until I changed GP.
Now, finally taken seriously, and accepting the changes in my life, I still have my struggles and they'll never go away. So even if you can't see it, never judge someone. They are not "lazy", "making excuses", "grabbing for attention" and so on. You'll never truly know their story and it's not a contest.
Just be open and supportive.

[Music Not Impossible also brought chairs to sit in, ASL interpreters, captions, audio descriptions for the blind, and quiet, cool-down spaces for autistic people, so they can step away before they get overstimulated]
There's no actual flashing at the link, but there are bright lights in full-screen photos in the article. Don't know if that'll be a problem for folks, but I thought I'd forewarn, just in case, before people clicked through.
(Normally, I'd be skeptical of & cranky toward Hearing people figuring out a way to "Give the Poor Deaf People the gift of Music" but A) this tech is a refinement of what deaf people were already doing for themselves, B) complementary to the music, not an attempt at recreating, and C) the concert venue is offering the tech, and not expecting the primary users to shell out extra money or resources for it)

Mandatory Fourth of July post.
Please be conscientious of your need to blow shit up tonight. Not only is the smoke very bad for the disabled people with breathing issues. It's very triggering for people with PTSD.
I find Fourth of July a real telltale sign of the true feelings of the "MURCA FUCKYEAH *shoots guns in the air* MAH RIGHTS. RESPECT THE TROOPS" Americans. Because when the veterans say "Hey. Please don't blow shit up. It's very triggering of that time I was in a war zone protecting our rights." The "My pronouns are USA" Americans tend to laugh in the faces of the veterans.
I'm sure there's ways you can enjoy your day off without triggering people with PTSD during Disability Pride Month?
