・You were never reaped, and never knew the personal/immediate experience of having to kill someone. However, your oldest brother was in the Hunger Games, a few years after Johanna. So, you knew the pain of losing a loved one. 

・Helping each other transition into a world where the Hunger Games no longer exists

・In a world where the Capitol doesn’t rule with an iron fist 

・After the events of Coin’s death, Katniss and Peeta go to district 12 to live out their days in peace

・Johanna still plagued by the torture and trauma she endured, didn’t know what to do. 

・No family, no friends, so she hid herself in the apartment that Commander Paylor gave to her (all living victors were given an apartment. But the catch was that they had to go through therapy)

・Johanna refused to go to the appointments. She was adamant that it was stupid, it wouldn’t help. 

・And she drowned in her own sadness 

・It took her 3 months to begrudgingly go to an appointment

・It was a group therapy session. Katniss and Peeta weren’t there as they lived in District 12 and didn’t live off of Paylor’s generosity

・It was a small group, and when Johanna looked around at the other victors, she saw herself. Hurt. Broken...the feeling of something that was taken and they could never get it back

・You were apart of the healers. Not a therapist, but a protegee underneath Ms Everdeen - yes, Katniss’ mother

・She shined in the Capitol; given the best treatment for everything she suffered 

・And you were lucky enough to be her assistant. 

・Learning the art of healing wasn’t easy

・But the opportunity was too good to let pass by 

・Ms Everdeen was a quiet woman, but when she taught, there was a light that began to shine. With each comment, lesson, tutorial and experience - she began to glow and glow. 

・But you soon learnt that bringing up either of her daughters was... bad. Her light dimmed whenever their names were mentioned; even talking about the plants was difficult for her. 

・She loved Prim, her youngest who looked like her. Who never judged her, only had love in her heart for everyone. Katniss was so distant, it felt like a death

・Johanna felt safe with Ms Everdeen. It was an interesting dynamic. She somewhat... stepped into a maternal role for the young victor. A role that Johanna desperately wanted filled but would never admit

・That’s how you met Johanna; in all her hardened exterior. Someone unloved but not unlovable. 

・Your relationship started off very clumsily; she saw you as another therapist - therefore an enemy. 

・You didn’t take much of a liking to her either 

・It was a conscious effort to be curteous 

・And Ms Everdeen pushed you toward Johanna

・Call it a mother’s intuition 

・And that intuition spurred a tight friendship. Johanna eased into your company (not without a fight) 

・You showed her moments into your world and in response, she displayed glimpses into her own

・And then you formed a tight bond. Best friends. Always doing things together, eating, spending all your free time with her

・You even inspired her to go to the therapy appointments 

・And although there were a few hiccups along the way, Johanna started to heal

・From then on she wanted to know what this new world had to offer

・ You both explored what the new Panem was, how Paylor had changed the old ways into something new. A united nation, where everyone reaped the benefits of food, shelter and safety. 

・There were no games after the rebellion. Paylor made sure of that:

   “We didn’t let people sacrifice their lives for a world where we go on sacrificing. We are one now. Panem will never be the same.” 

・Now with a new sense of freedom, you saw a change in Johanna. You knew what it was - hope

・This newfound hope made Johanna realise that ... she could do whatever she wanted. There wasn’t a reason why she couldn’t. She had survived. 

・The very next hour, she had walked right up to you and kissed you fiercely 

・It wasn’t the best place to snog; right in front of Ms Everdeen, but when you pulled apart you glimpsed over at her and saw her smile 

・Being with Johanna is like the like winter. Having a fire to keep yourself warm is cosy but when it gets out of hand - it will leave you with nothing but ashes. 

・You moved in together, a three bedroom apartment that wasn’t too far from Ms Everdeen’s place. You both felt too guilty leaving her.

・Once there was a time that you invited Peeta and Katniss to come and stay, but Peeta wrote back that Katniss wasn’t ready. 

・As a partner, Johanna is hot-headed but also playful and teasing

・She loves ruffling your feathers (never too much though, she never wants to push you away)

And then she starts to do those little signs of affection; kisses on the cheek, moving hair out of your face, wiping any food from your mouth etc. PDA is pretty much a no no. But when someone tries ANYTHING with you, then she will kiss you so hard, showing that you’re hers. She’s very protective ... well possessive, over you.

Finnick can't flirt with Annie. He can flirt with every other man, woman, nonbinary person who crosses his path no problem, but Annie?

It's like he's a kid again. He gets shy. Because he actually loves her. So he'll try his best but he's blushing and uncertain and Annie thinks it's equal parts hilarious and adorable and she 100% bullies him lovingly for it.

Johanna bullies him too, but she mostly finds it hilarious that Finnick Odair of all people gets tongue-tied when Annie calls him precious.

Dating Katniss & Peeta headcanons

after the games, neither of them returned to being the same.

when they returned home, they became so much more overprotective than they were in the past with you.

want to visit your family? peeta will be there with you. need to go somewhere? katniss will go with you.

to be honest you can’t blame them, you know they are like this now because of how scared they are of losing you. and you adore them for that.

but also, overprotective in the jealousy way.

peeta has never been a jealous boyfriend. if he sees you or katniss flirting with someone else, his heart would shatter into pieces, feeling not enough for either of you, but he would never say a word about it.

meanwhile, katniss.. well, she’s not afraid to make it clear what belongs to her.

there was this time when gale came up to talk to you on the reaping day, he said he was 'concerned about you.'

your girlfriend noticed his intentions to flirt with you and quickly got closer to steal your attention, placing a hand on your waist and giving gale a death stare.

he never tried to flirt with you in her presence again.

peeta is literally obsessed with both, you and katniss. he would die for the two of you.

in the other hand, katniss would kill for the two of you. you guys are her whole universe.

in the afternoon, you usually have baking lessons with peeta as your teacher.

if you end up burning something, he says, “don’t worry darling, next time will turn out better.”

sometimes, when you join her on the hunt, katniss tries to teach you how to use the bow and arrow as well.

“i don’t know, i think i prefer watching you do it than doing it myself.”

“c’mon baby, it’s going to be fun. for me?”

of course, you agree just to see her happy.

since they returned home, it’s normal for both of them to have nightmares every night.

to katniss, it helps when you run your fingers through her hair while she rests her head on your chest. peeta always takes her hand to let her know he’s there, even when he’s scared too.

when peeta is the one that wakes up from a terrible dream, he immediately becomes the little spoon and lets both of his girlfriends hug him. this helps him calm down and quickly go back to sleep.

every morning, you braid katniss’s hair while peeta braids yours. <3

you and peeta take care of the garden, and always suprise katniss with flowers.

okay but.. heavy make out sessions.

peeta holds you tight onto his lap and kisses your neck while katniss kisses your mouth like her life depends on it.

they’re always so sweet with you and your body, because it’s probably their favorite thing on the world.

both of them always ask for consent before touching or even kissing you, they respect you so much.

i don’t think i have!! this is first kisses with each character but not exactly like their or your first kiss ever

coriolanus - your first kiss with coryo would likely be at the academy, truthfully. it was late one night and the two of you were studying together. however, the night led to the two of you laughing together, something so rare as coryo rarely ever shows emotion other than being stoic or charming towards those with power. and one thing led to another where you’re both walking out of the library in silence until you’re at the entrance with no one around. and coryo just looks at you and you look at him and he plants a soft kiss on your lips, not a long one. but enough to leave an impression on you. and it was safe to say that it most definitely ended in a hot makeout session with you pressed up against the wall of the library.

tigris - your first kiss with tigris would probably be after she became a stylist for the games. like the beginning of her career. she would have her own studio and you both would be visiting it for the first time ever. and in excitement, tigris would smile, grab your face and just kiss your lips without any warning. and after a moment, she would pull away, apologizing profusely until you pull her back in, kissing her softly.

sejanus - OKAY SO your first kiss with sejanus would be in his bedroom. your families were having dinner together as the two of you are from prominent families within the capitol. the two of you were definitely the best of friends. and when you and sej go to his room to take a break from your guys’ parents, the two of you are just sitting on sejanus’s bed, talking about how stupid this whole dinner is. but as you’re talking, sejanus can’t keep his eyes off of his lips and without any thought, he cuts you off by kissing you. and to his surprise, you immediately kiss back because truthfully, it’s something you both have wanted for so long.

haymitch - your first kiss with haymitch would likely be after he has an episode. he had been off of alcohol for some time now and you’ve been there to get him through sobriety. and one night, he has an episode, thrashing around, the trauma all coming back to him. until you wrap your arms around him, hugging him and whispering soothing words into his ear. once he’s calmed down, he’s just focused on you and your voice, looking at you as you speak to him. and he would realize just how much he appreciates you which would lead to him kissing you on the lips as a thank you.

finnick - okay but imagine being at the beach with finnick. and the two of you are just splashing around in the ocean, laughing and having fun together as you swam. finnick would come up to you, acting as though he was going to wrap his arms around you and slam you into the water (because what else would anyone do?) when instead, he ends up just looking into your eyes, you looking back at him. and suddenly, his lips are on yours while the waves crash into the two of you. and it’s just a sweet and romantic moment.

johanna - your first kiss with johanna is definitely a thing in passing. the two of you would just be talking, maybe she’s just venting about how annoying someone is. and when she looks at you, listening so intently at the words she’s speaking, johanna just can’t help the fluttering in her chest. so she just leans in, planting a kiss on your lips before she continues on with what she was talking about.

peeta - imagine just baking with your best friend peeta, just smiling and having fun with him as you both bake goodies. you’re concentrated on the recipe at some point and peeta is stood next to you, looking at you. he can’t help but watch how beautiful you look in your apron, with a furrow in your eyebrow as you read. he would bring a finger underneath your chin, move your face gently to look at him. and he would plant a soft kiss on your lips before continuing as though nothing happened whatsoever.

katniss - your first kiss with katniss was in the meadow in district 12. she was taking you hunting, showing you how to fend for yourself. and eventually, spending the day with her led to the two of you just sitting down in the grass, watching nature without the worries of peacekeepers seeing you guys. you’d glance at katniss and she’d glance at you. and without any words spoken, you both go for it and kiss each other.

yessss that defo answers my questions! ur thoughts on compassion & community intertwined w rebellion definitely show up in ur art lol. something more specific i have been curious abt is ur version of the endings of each specific hunger games & ur characterization/portrayal of the victors at those points! if u have any more thoughts abt any of those characters or their games id love to hear.... im also very not neurotypical abt hunger games

For sure!! But this is a novel and a half so I apologize in advance (also most of this is from memory so anyone can correct me if I'm getting any details wrong)

I realized I'd seen barely any art showing what the victors would have looked like when they won their games. They were all just kids and I feel like it can be easy to forget that sometimes

For all of them, I made the background one of their main "weapons" but tried to make it look like its turning back on them instead since there are no victors as Haymitch said.

I'll try to explain them all more in depth individually going in the order I drew them:

Finnick Odair, 65th Games:

His main weapons were his trident and nets that he made with vines. His background is one of the nets ready to trap him.

Finnick was the youngest victor ever at only 14. I really really wanted to emphasize just how little that is. (Especially since we know exactly why the Capitol loved him from the start…) Once I actually drew him looking that little I had to step away for a bit because I made myself too sad…

Outside of just how horrific his age is as a concept, I tried to think about what circumstances would lead to him actually winning when surrounded by older tributes. I think he would have had to avoid any kind of fight he didn't have the upper hand in. We know that he got the most expensive sponsor gifts in the history of the games (a trident), so he probably got plenty of sponsors outside of that as well. Because of that I doubt he needed to go looking for supplies much if ever so it was easy to avoid people there. He was also probably in a career pack, despite his age, due to his training and his popularity, and they would have hunted other tributes down together much like the one we saw in the first book (safer in numbers). Once it was narrowing down and the pack broke is when I think he started catching people in nets. All of that is a long winded way of saying that's why, unlike the other victors I drew, I only show him with minor cuts and bruises.

Originally I was going to draw him with a kind of strained smile like he was acting for an audience from the start. But I decided I actually think its sadder if he believed he was popular because of his skill and strategy as a fighter and only learned the whole truth after he won and that's when he started acting more for the camera. Instead I gave him a more muted despair kind of look, like his world is crashing down. One of my favorite parts about the movies, mainly THG and ABOSAS, is when they give the career tributes at the end a moment of realization about what they've done, and I wanted to give Finnick his. I'm a person that believes Finnick had to have volunteered for his games. I think he would have legitimately believed in the propaganda the career districts were fed and had a bit of a (very middle school boy) ego about his abilities. (I was NOT expecting to write so much about his lmao)

Enobaria, 62nd Games

She's most well known for ripping someones throat out with her teeth. (Her background is her sharpened teeth getting ready to eat her.) This is treated by The Capitol, and by Katniss, as grotesque and terrifying blood lust (Which obviously the Capitol loves her for). However, and I'm not at all the first to say it, that sounds more like a terrified and desperate attempt to survive a fight she was losing and an example of hysterical strength. We know that Career packs have had bloody betrayals in the past and I can see Enobaria being a part of one of them. Enobaria doesn't have a canonical age, but I decided to put her on the younger side (15 or 16.) I can imagine some of the older, bigger tributes deciding she was the weakest link towards the end and that was the result. I tried to make the blood around her mouth and down her shirt look more faded, like she tried desperately to wipe it off (Also I had to step away from drawing again after I drew her little tooth gap)

I think she probably leaned into the bloodthirsty image afterwards as a way to protect herself and (maybe even started to believe it too)

Annie Cresta, 70th Games

Annie's known for losing her mind after seeing her district partner decapitated in front of her. After that, she ran off and hid until the game makers started an earth quake, which made the large dam in the arena break and cause a huge flood. Annie was the only survivor because she was the strongest swimmer. So I decided to make her background dark water that's churning up and over her head. I also think it can work well as a way to show her mental state in the moment (and afterwards) Annie is actually one of my favorite characters in the series and I've been writing out a plan for a possible comic series about her that'll go more in depth about my headcanons for her. (when I say comic series, I mean sketches and oneshots, not a full thing lmao) It wouldn't take place during her games (outside of a few flashbacks when I need more context), instead it would start at her Victory Tour and go into her first (and last) year as a mentor for the 71st Games. Which is a perfect segue to-

Johanna Mason, 71st Games

Johanna is actually first mentioned early on in the first book when Katniss is wondering if the reason Peeta is crying is because he plans to act weak and helpless as a strategy in the games. (Katniss, he just found out he has to fight in a murder tournament with his crush. He's just Sad.) She bases her theory on Johanna, who pretended she was a "sniveling, cowardly fool" in the arena until the final stretch of the games when she proved to be deadly with an axe.

OR….. Katniss is an unreliable narrator and Johanna was actually a terrified kid from a district with so few victors that she was the only name in the bowl for the Quarter Quell… This is totally just a personal headcanon of mine tho lol. I think there would have been a point in her games where she realized she actually had a chance and that's when she seemingly had a huge character turn around. Maybe there was a infighting with the careers that ended in multiple deaths and there was only a few left along with any other tributes hiding away like her. Maybe she poked around what was left of their camp, found the axe, and felt strength from her district.

Her background was a little harder for me. Just slapping a big axe behind her felt cheesy. But them I remembered her saying there was no one left that she loved. So instead I put trees that could represent her loved ones (Two fully grown trees, a younger "teenage" tree, and a sapling) that are in the process of being cut down.

Haymitch Abernathy, 50th Games

Don't worry, I'm almost done. I don't have as much to say about Haymitch since we know SO much about what happened in his games. But his background was probably the hardest for me. His main weapon was invisible after all. I thought maybe the axe that was used, but again, That would look cheesy. I tried (and kinda failed imo) to draw the cliff side the force field was on instead. But the main thing I did was split the three panels I had on the previous drawings into six for two reasons. 1: Because he had to face twice as many tributes in order to win and 2: Being the only victor of a district that's tributes are seen as fodder for the blood bath means he had to meet and watch the death of twice as many kids every year.

do you think Peeta makes a solid medium to large friend group after the war and what do you think they do together?

i think that Peeta makes various smaller friend groups. Him, Annie, and Johanna all check up on each other intermittently. They're all unbelievably important to each other and both Johanna and Peeta are active presences in Baby Odair's life. Johanna stopping by in 4 frequently with dangerous not mommy-blog approved gifts for him. Peeta and Katniss take him in frequently as he grows so that Annie can get some time to herself. On hard trigger days, they jump on a call together and lean on each other. Remind each other that they survived. That they are going to survive. And that they have each other. Peeta and Delly (and the handful of other surviving Merchant teens) all spend time together. They start a book club at the bakery but it's really just an excuse to get together. Not in an exclusionary way, it's just that they're all they have left of the childhood they knew. they all lost so much of their community, their neighbors, their friends - so they hold onto each other. Peeta also volunteers his time with the cleanup crews for District 12. So he makes friends with Thom and other Seam folk. He goes out for drinks with them at the "New Hob" after his shifts sometimes. They LOVE getting him to drink because man CANNOT HOLD HIS LIQOUR. They think it's HILARIOUS. Katniss has to come pick him up sometimes and he's crying because she's married and he's so jealous. "I'm married to you, you idiot" "Wait, really???? Is it serious??? Can I kiss you???" :: sigh :: "Thom, did you really need to give him that last shot?" "Absolutely, yes." And then, of course. There's his family. Haymitch, Sae (and her granddaughter), and Katniss. Peeta has so much love for Haymitch and Sae. He'd do anything for them. He helps Sae with all of her more strenuous house chores. Shovels snow for her, cleans her gutters, anything he can. He is devoted to her and is grateful to her for watching over Katniss. And he never fails to show her that gratitude until her dying day. He plays with Sae's granddaughter too. She keeps a running list of new animals that she's learning about and with every animal, Peeta lets her help him make sugar cookies shaped like that animal. It's her absolute favorite day of the week and it helps give Sae a rest day. It's more of a struggle with Haymitch but he does what he can. Helps out around the house, pays someone to keep Haymitch's house decent. Makes sure that he has at least one healthy meal a day. They always portion out their leftovers for him too. the Hawthornes have a family song/lullaby: the “I love you song” ( Frankie Valley LOVE song). It all started out with mr h and hazelle having a dance to the song, and then gales dad just starts sing to hazelle and his kids to ‘brighten up their lives’. Gale n hazelle continues on the song to sing the kids to sleep, cuz it is a sweet thing that makes them think of the good times before the chaos.

katniss uses unscented shampoo and conditioners. she hates the reminder of it’s artificial, unrealistic, inauthenticity— like the Capitol. By being unscented and not having any connection to the Capitol, katniss allows herself to be free and unbranded. peeta always uses fresh or sweeter scents: maybe like mint and chamomile. But he ends up smelling like backed good at the end of the day

haymitch is Madge’s godfather like figure. he is close to her mother, due to being connected to mayslee. cuz of this, the undersees trust him a lot and have so much faith with him. he even cares a lot for Madge too, wanting what’s good for her.

Johanna, from the hjacking, developed a phobia of any form of water. cuz of that, she couldn’t take a proper shower or bath for a good couple of years, and won’t visit district 4 (also the pain of losing a close friend). she would clean herself with watered rags and wipe her body clean. she also cuts her hair short, never too short, but short and asks Annie to wash her hair for her— which she always does and hold her hands telling her she’s okay.

To add on, I think Katniss develops on onset phobia of needles. After all the trauma and abuse she got from the capital and the revolution, she hates the idea of needles, cus it just trigger her fight-or-flight reaction to protecting herself. Especially all the episodes of being unconscious, drugged up or injuries beyond repair.

Annie, I think, would want to become a psychologist, or something incredibly similar in the future. She learns to become better and helps other with similar situations to improve themselves to become more at ease. She specifies in trauma/addiction and childhood psychotherapy.

The mellarks adopt another cat and name it dandelion. Similar to the flower/plant motive of the Everdeens name, but also cause it reminds katniss of peeta. Dandelion, the cat, would be blonde with white in it. And it would be always there at the corner of katniss’ eye

Finnick has a massive book collection and poetry collection at his place. Him, Mags and Annie all have a ‘Book Club’ group and talk to each other

Finnick can’t sing anything other than sea-ship songs. Like those old-times pirate/ sea songs. He also sways a little when he stands too still for too long— an old habit that died hard from his youth his his dad owning a boat. Annie smtimes joins him w his singing, and mags too

Thinking about Finnick Odair (thg spoilers)

When Annie was captured by the Capitol Finnick realised that he couldn’t protect her this time. He couldn’t help her, couldn’t save her. He blames himself.

“I wish she was dead. I wish they were all dead and we were too”

District 13 gave him a rope to fidget with. Notice how the rope is short? They were probably afraid he would do something to himself. He even told Katniss he wished he was dead in this scene^ (And he joked about it in a deleted scene)

Finnick wishes Annie was dead too. He doesn’t want her to go through more pain. He wants to join her in death. He’s hoping for a more peaceful life there. He wants to see Mags again. He wants to live his life the fullest without feeling like a robot.

Finnick wants to be asleep, doesn’t matter if he has bad dreams. He doesn’t want to wake up if Annie isn’t at his side.

First Finnick had lost himself.

Then he lost Mags.

And now he might lose his Annie too.

Finnick gives Katniss advice. He shows that he has experience with dealing with nightmares. He is only 24 and already has gone through so much trauma. While still processing his grief, he makes the effort to help his friend with hers. While still processing his grief, he contributes to the revolution by sharing secrets about the people who hurt him. Secrets he collected, knowing they would come in handy later. He used the brutal situations he was forced into to his advantage. To get the victors back.

He finally had her back. He finally could help her heal. He finally got the opportunity to shield her from harm by participating in the '76th Hunger games’ to end this war. I like to think he did it for her. And it got him killed.

The right person but not enough time.

Odesta Observations

Finnick can't actually flirt with Annie.

It was a realisation that took a while to sink in, but once it did, Katniss saw it everywhere.

The way he'd stammer over his words when he said anything even remotely romantic towards her.

The way his brain seemed to short-circuit whenever Annie smiled in his direction, or placed a kiss on his cheek, or lent her head on his shoulder.

Or, more damningly, the way an unusual red colour spread across his cheeks and nose, going all the way down his neck and up to his ears, whenever Annie (god forbid) flirted back.

It was actually a hilarious concept.

Finnick Odair, darling of the Capitol, playboy prince with enough lovers to create a small army, was shy.

And not shy in general. Not shy in that flirty way, where the flirter blushed ever so slightly to appear cute and endear themselves.

No, in front of Annie Cresta, Finnick was the tripping-over-his-own-feet kind of shy.

He was the stammering-over-his-words-so-hard-he-forgot-how-to-English kind of shy.

He was the slamming-his-head-into-the-table-to-hide-his-face-even-though-she's-right-there-oh-my-GOD kind of shy.

And Katniss was 99% sure Annie knew exactly what she was doing too. Because Annie flirted back a lot, and laughed every time, pressing gentle kisses to a bright red cheek or nose and allowing him a little time to compute what exactly happened. And when he tried to continue flirting, voice small and kind of uncertain, she'd just raise one eyebrow, as if challenging him to a verbal battle.

Usually this ended in Finnick dropping his head onto her shoulder, grumbling about her wittiness and how unfair this was. Annie would pat his head lovingly, telling him that he'd get her next time and that he'd just have to practice.

He never did.

It actually became something Katniss did to pass the time. Her and Johanna nicknamed it 'Odesta Observation', just watching them and reporting back to each other the most embarrassing things Finnick managed to do.

"She smiled at him and he managed to catch his toe on nothing and fall flat on his face." Johanna reported one day, still cackling.

"He tried to tell her a pick up line, gave up halfway through, turned around and walked straight into a wall." Katniss whispered to Johanna in passing, walking ahead with a slight smirk as Johanna barked out a laugh.

"She said that he was the most precious thing in her life and he took a whole ten minutes to react."

"He ranted about her hair for 25 minutes straight and then when she walked into the room he panicked and jumped so hard he fell off the bed."

"Annie caught him mid-story about a dog with pink and his voice raised three pitches before he started talking about Annie's dogs in 4."

"He saw Annie helping out in the baby ward and came to my room and screamed into my pillow for a few minutes before telling me he was fine."

Sometimes though, their observations weren't quite so silly.

"He held her for ten minutes while she seemed to come down from some kind of panic attack."

"She always kisses his chin when he seems to be drifting away, and he always puts his head on her shoulder after that."

"He likes to tug at her hair when her eyes go all vacant, and it seems to bring her back to reality."

"She likes to fiddle with his hair, braiding and brushing and playing with it until he falls asleep."

"She wakes up in a cold sweat when he's not beside her."

"He pleads for her to come back in his nightmares."

"She wanders the complex when she's not fully there, crying and searching for Finnick."

"He sneaks into her room at night, unable to sleep without her by his side."

Annie and Finnick were in love. They were entirely dependent on each other, both of them needing the other to complete them. Their adoration for each other was palpable, and Katniss could feel the devotion radiating off them.

It wasn't a surprise when Finnick popped the question.

And if he blushed and stammered his way through his wedding vows, Annie smiling ever so indulgently at him while he did so, Katniss would only tease him a little bit about it.

johanna - she’s full on jealous and isn’t ashamed. she’ll walk up to you and look at the person and go “they’re mine. go away.” before softly kissing your lips.

peeta - peeta wouldn’t get jealous either. i think he’s a very go with the flow person but also lowkey oblivious. so i don’t think he would notice that someone’s flirting with you. he would just think they’re being friendly.

katniss - katniss would watch the whole thing and then pretend as though it doesn’t bother her. but when she gives you the cold shoulder afterwards, you have to pry it out of her. and then you guys have a conversation about it.

It’s almost midnight, I have school tomorrow and yet I’m up, thinking about how Johanna Mason had no one to come back to after she was rescued from the Capitol.

Annie had Finnick, Peeta had Katniss, and even though he was hijacked, he had Haymitch and Prim.

And now I’m thinking about how much I’d love to be the one she comes back to. How much I’d love to tell her that she’s still so beautiful, that they can’t take everything from her, how much I adore her and how I always thought she’d look great with short hair.

How much I’d love to be the first to see her so she isn’t the only one sitting in the hospital on her own while Finnick and Annie are having their reunion. I’d have the same moment with her, so sickly sweet that Finnick will later bully her lovingly because she’s so soft with me and only me.

She’d live with me instead of Katniss. I’d help her out when she has nightmares or panic attacks. I’d assure her that she’s so important to me, to everyone and that she’s the most beautiful girl on the planet, that she’s worthy of love, that she deserves the world.

I’d kiss her scars, watch her grow her hair out again and die it for her if she wants me to. A dark red. After the war, she’d move back to District 7, home, and I’d come with her to help her with all the trauma she’s endured.

And eventually, I’d be happy again and so would she.
