Sure! Explanation of the events of the past week (some of these dates might be relative to my timezone, apologies for any errors):

JUNE 24: News breaks that Jensen Ackles and Danneel Ackles’ production company has a prequel in the works focusing on John and Mary Winchester; entire fandom displeased

Fandom ire at the prequel focusing on John and Mary momentarily overshadows the fact that it seems like Jensen Ackles has the rights to Supernatural (!!!) and has ‘five shows in the works’ of which this is only the first

Showrunner is Destiel fan-favourite Robbie Thompson, responsible for such Absolute Banger Episodes as ‘Meta Fiction’ (see more here)

A lot of blowback from absolutely all sides of the fandom - BiBros et al mad that it focuses on Not The Brothers, Destiel fans mad it focuses on Not Resolving Destiel, everyone largely mad it focuses on John Winchester (widely regarded as abusive) and the ‘epic love story’ of John/Mary (canonically forced by cupid magic)

Various cast members including Misha Collins, Jim Beaver, Jake Abel, Ruth Connell and Julie McNiven reply to the article with comments indicating they’d like to be involved

Eric Kripke tweets that Jensen and Danneel are ‘the perfect people’ to take control of this story and Jared is ‘too busy Texas Rangering’ to be involved

JUNE 25: Jared Padalecki tweets about being left out of the loop on the prequel; absolute chaos ensues

JUNE 26: A scramble for Jensen, Jared and Eric Kripke to do PR damage control on the Jared issue. Meanwhile, Misha Collins does his best impression of this scene from the Lion King to promote GISH

Eric later deletes all tweets about the issue, which is VERY funny. Man can’t handle the heat!

JUNE 26: Jensen Ackles does further damage control by tweeting ‘Canon? we got you’ and linking to this article about what the show might hold, which points out the Problems of John Winchester

This, combined with the fact Robbie Thompson is running it, convinces most Destiel-side fans that the show Might Be Better Than Expected and one CW-approved stepping stone to greater things

BiBros are furious because article is written by ‘known Heller’ Natalie Fisher, who is friends with writers such as Meredith Glynn and Robert Berens

Meanwhile, Steve Yockey references the ‘Steve Yockey is dead?!?’ tumblr meme on twitter in a reply to Ruth Connell

JUNE 27: Gen Padalecki posts an instagram story which may or may not be shady commentary on Jensen Ackles

However, yesterday Danneel Ackles also promotes the Padalecki MLM product on HER instagram - can I just say I simply love the use of a) product promotion and b) instagram stories as tools of warfare and diplomacy

JUNE 28: Various scripts drop thanks to the team at tumblr’s spnscripthunt (go support and fund their efforts if you can!)

Notable changed content includes Castiel telling Dean to ‘parent’ Jack in 14.16 and Castiel texting emojis to Claire in 12.16 (possibly an in-script joke about Dean being attracted to a poodle?)

JUNE 29: News breaks that Chaos Machine Productions was started as ‘Free Will Entertainment LLC’

The name was apparently changed in October 2020 - was that as a result of the 15.19-15.20 filming? Or something else?

The idea that Jensen set up a company called ‘Free Will Entertainment’ to continue telling the story of Supernatural is honestly BONKERS. A lot to unpack here to do with the textual and metatextual narrative of Supernatural that I don’t have time to get into, since there’s about twenty wild implications that could be speculated from that name alone

Stock price on ‘Jackles’ Sexy Silence’, conspiracy that Jensen didn’t like the ending of Supernatural and was quietly plotting to take the narrative under his own control, to bring Dean back to life and possibly to canonise Destiel, reaches historic high

The fact does not go unnoticed that, through coincidence or not, Jensen and Danneel registered the company on a Thursday very close to September 18, the Lazarus Rising/Castiel Anniversary Date when Dean was saved from Hell

JUNE 30: Misha Collins makes a social media post with Castiel art for the last day of Pride Month

On his instagram, Misha also puts music on the story of ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love With You’ a song made famous by Elvis and then subsequently Destiel AU Fanfic Twist and Shout

“The song was initially written from the perspective of a woman as “Can’t Help Falling in Love with Him”, which explains the first and third line ending on “in” and “sin” rather than words rhyming with “you” - Wikipedia knowledge obtained via @jurisffiction

JUNE 30: 8.17 Goodbye Stranger script excerpt surfaces with Dean’s ‘I love you’ to Castiel

Fandom has long known that the ‘I need you’ was formerly an ‘I love you’ because Jensen believed Dean saying it in that moment to Castiel was out of character - but we did not have the script to prove specific changes

Additional ‘I forgive you’ not included in the episode - the original scene reads as very romantic, since this was Dean absolving Castiel for past crimes and telling him he loves him in the moments before death, as well as ‘I love you’ of course being what ‘broke the connection’ of Naomi’s control

Notably this episode written by Robbie Thompson, the very man Jensen and Danneel chose to helm their next project

JUNE 30: Misha Collins misses his blanky text

To cap all this off, Misha Collins texts fans a selfie of himself at ‘the spare room at Jensen’s apt in Vancouver’, saying he ‘misses his blanky’, implying he has spent many nights there

It has been an open secret that Misha basically shared Jensen’s apartment in Vancouver since around 2018 due to [redacted dubiously obtained information] but it’s never been publicly stated (to be clear, this does not imply anything other than friendship, as actors in Vancouver often share accommodation and Misha had previously couch-surfed at Jared and Jensen’s places)

Cockles shippers go wild. Does the ‘blanky’ refer to Jensen? Was there a reason to send this on the last day of pride month? Will this man ever shut up?

February 15, 2021 - Supernatural fandom continues to liveblog post about Dean and Cas' wedding, which gets the destiel tag trending above the new royal baby on both Tumblr and Twitter. It's also currently trending above the Valentine's Day.

At one point, Jensen Ackles posts a photo and a video on Instagram, which bumps the destiel tag back up after it dropped to the eighth position on Tumblr.

Twitter even gave the tag a description:

Chad Lindberg and Samantha Ferris were role-playing a Roudhouse party on Twitter, even Adam Rose got involved in one point, however no wedding was mentioned by them explicitly. Which didn't matter, because the wedding was taking place regardless and a large part of the fandom never expected any concrete wedding tweets. It was all about having fun and celebrating together. Talk about seizing the narrative - good job folks!

The party was a blast and the general consensus is that Rowena, the most powerful witch and the Queen of Hell, was officiating the wedding, while her son, former King of Hell who had fucked one or both grooms years back depending on who you ask, Crowley, was trying to sabotage it. Dean's brother Sam kept him in check and gave over an hour-long speech accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation, which was the effect of his having to deal with unresolved sexual tension between the newlyweds for 12 years. John Winchester was hunted for sport at some point after the ceremony. Dean and Cas' son, who's currently thee God, was the ring bearer and he did attempt to eat the rings. But it's okay, he's only three.

an addition to this post, as there is clearly so much more to unpack:

- in light of recent events, every j2 interaction from over the last year suddenly starts to hit different (e.g. the disastrous creation con panel)

- PR advisors inevitably descend, and j2 craft poorly written apologies that only highlight the growing rift between them

- an excess of bumpy road analogies appear on twitter

- the already strained mental health of the spn fandom starts to crack, with many people leaving for good

- jensen’s aunt goes rogue on twitter

- 24 hours on and spn tumblr is trying to reconcile genuine sympathy for jensen with the delirious highs evoked by the truly unprecedented levels of drama

- kripke tweets something that's probably meant to placate everyone but instead just further emphasises the rift between jensen and jared

- kripke hastily deletes his tweets and probably regrets every creating the cw show supernatural

- jared, without any sense of irony, implores people not to send hate on twitter. this receives an (understandably) mixed reception

- spn maintains its political reputation, as trump's former legal advisor comes out in support of jared

there’s just. there’s just so much to unpack here. I mean:

- jensen emphasising this is the FIRST story he wants to tell about the spn verse (read: the destiel spin off is coming)

- chaos machine's new pride icon

- misha joking the prequel needs a trench-coated angel, which, based on historical data, only means one thing: the prequel absolutely has a trench-coated angel in it (our favourite one with the rainbow wings and squinty eyes, to be specific)

- kripke causing multiple social media platforms to explode by liking said tweet

- jared hearing about the prequel for the first time on twitter at the same time as the rest of us

- misha absolutely not hearing about the prequel for the first time on twitter at the same time as the rest of us

- the entirety of tumblr and twitter trying to fathom why jensen decided to make a show about a character the whole spn fandom have spent fifteen years wanting to punch very hard in the face

- hot topics include: will john's shitty actions be ignored or explored? is the prequel really just a cover for a destiel spinoff?? or just an elaborate and expensive method of ensuring cas finally, in some universe, gets to smite john?

- rowena considered for the prequel but not sam

- it becomes clear danneel and jensen knew EXACTLY what they were doing when they named their production company "chaos machine"

- et tu brute, gutted, bummed

- the increasingly likely possibility that the french mistake and the mockumentary were actually prophetic visions (related: someone check on misha)

- bobo berens and kripke add more fuel to the twittersphere fire

- most of the fandom yelling "fight, fight, fight" at the cast of their favourite show six months after it ending

- a complete, collective tumblr meltdown as fires that have been brewing in opposing corners of the fandom for over a decade implode into either vindication or denial

- unprecedented scenes in fandom history as self-confessed ex-j2 stans quietly let themselves into the cockles trash dumpster

- the realisation that jensen has been plotting this for months (important questions: how long has he known? when they were filming the finale?? at the creation con panel? is this what was going on under all that sexy silence???)

- most of tumblr on tenterhooks simply from watching two middle aged men follow and unfollow each other on twitter

- the fact there are still conventions booked and j2 panels that are absolutely going to happen after all of this

- no one knows if biden is okay

imagine being into design and following ad twitter only to see them tweet something random about something called destiel and. an actor that was featured on their site and then finding out the context skfjdhsjsk

okay but also imagine being some billionaire who is lazily trying to find ways to waste his money and seeing ‘sad over destiel’ and thinking destiel is surely the portmanteau of a really sought-after sexy but controversial celebrity couple, so he buys the ackles’ house on a whim because greed runs in his blood and he simply must take whatever somebody else wants, only to discover destiel is a fictional gay couple whose fans are completely unhinged, so he tries to sell the house because memes have started to crop up with reports in the news about how he’s a ‘heller’ (good lord, do these gays only worship satan, he thinks?) because maybe when he bought the house, he let it slip in an interview that he was a big fan of ‘destiel’ (now he understands that this wasn’t destiny hope cyrus x ellen degeneres like he thought because that was the only gay couple he was willing to invest in) and unfortunately to his shock and utter horror, destiel fans aren’t exactly rich so he has to sell his house for what feels like 2 dollars and he cries curled up in his satin sheets and the worst thing is that even after he sells, he still has to endure cries of ‘u go king!’ and ‘hey heller!’ when he’s walking down the street because no one’s realized his foolish mistake and he’s too cowardly to admit that he didn’t know what he was doing (which is always the case but he doesn’t want the world to know that) so it culminates in him going to pride parades wearing t-shirts with destiel fanart plastered all over his body because he wants to assure the public that all his business decisions have always been sound, including his accidental purchase of the heller house, except at the parade, he sees jensen there and jensen’s face twists into such an expression that the greedy businessman/billionaire leaves society altogether and lives as a hermit in the cascade mountain range for the rest of his life, donating all his money to random acts (he thought that this was at least fitting).

It was Dean’s success story? Okay, first of all: He didn’t gave his life for Sam. He didn’t took a bullet for Sam or whatever. He died in a fucking routine hunt, there was nothing special about it, it was no sacrifice, it was a fucking ridiculous accident! And secondly: Dean’s success story? That implies Dean is only there to make Sam happy and it’s his only job! That implies, again, Dean is nothing without Sam! Do you even know Dean and his story? That boy has been abused since he was 4! He’s been forced into a life he never wanted, forced into a soldier life, forced into a nurturing role. HE NEVER WANTED THAT! HE WANTED A FUCKING NORMAL LIFE FAR AWAY FROM HUNTING! He wanted to retire! He was blatantly built to obey John, to protect Sam and nothing else! He was so fucking much more than that! Let's not talk about eyefucking, staring at each other, liplicking, gentle facetouching and other acting and filming choices. For that part I highly recommend the cinematography of Destiel by @lulu-zodiac, it’s a masterpiece. We all know it's there 24/7 and it's a deliberate choice of representing Destiel in a romantic way.

You must mean crying laughing at y’all calling Misha “King” for his literally “ship” baiting tweet because he has new merch coming soon. XD

Or how it’s a poor imitation of the joke Jared made first, several years ago, and how Jensen liked a bunch of happy birthday tweets, but not Misha’s. XD

Sorry not sorry, we “J2 stans” win, as always, because the Padalecki’s spent Jensen’s birthday weekend with the Ackles, and we have a new J2 panel coming in three days.

What’s this about Jensen and Misha arguing?

I've heard from several different people now that were at DenCon that Jensen was angry and talking sternly at Misha in the photo op room, that the destiels/cockles/minions that were there were kinda in shock and subdued about it. You notice there were none of the usual fake stories about Jensen and Misha being cutesy with each other, instead they all went radio silent because they didn't know what to say so, of course, some of the usual BS artists tried to shift it onto J2, except they foolishly didn't fact check themselves first because this all happened before Jared was even at the con lol.

I will admit I don’t understand why so many people in this fandom seem to be so set against any new content coming out. Like, why are you (this is a general you, not you specifically) in the fandom running a fan account if you seem to want spn to die off so badly? Aside from this Jessica Mason person being involved, a rewatch podcast with actual cast/crew members giving insight and bts stories is a fantastic idea. The prequel has a lot of potential to be great and if successful, could open the door for more spin-offs or even a continuation of the series. I think people forget that characters don’t need to be “good” or likable all the time to be interesting or to tell a compelling story. There are a lot of gaps in the John/Mary story that can be filled in by the prequel, and it also could be a really interesting character study. If that’s not someone’s cup of tea, that’s fine, but stop immediately shitting all over any new content that’s announced just because it’s not what you (again, general you) specifically want. There are plenty of people that are excited for the prequel and who want the podcast (just not Jessica’s involvement in it), but they unfortunately get drowned out by the loudest voices who seem to exist solely to complain about everything.

I would also like to point out that many of these people (and I’m not even going to try to touch the jpeg stans, because they’re just a whole other level of crazy. I’m mostly referring to the destiel fandom here) were plenty excited at the prospect of a rewatch podcast when they thought Misha was involved and are now suddenly claiming nobody wants this and the idea is stupid. Like, if you’re (general you) just here for Misha/Cas content, that’s fine. You do you. But newsflash, spn is not just about Cas or Misha, and plenty of people in the fandom care about the show and characters as a whole.

I think that, in fact almost everybody want new SPN content, but they are afraid they would be disappointed and/or could further cause more conflict between different sides of the fandom. You know, it's literally impossible to content everybody in this fandom:

Most Hellers don't want to see Jared anymore and I'm sure many of them are pissed off the first 2 episodes of the podcasts are only focused on J2. There are also many hellers afraid that someone would use the new shows/podcasts/whatever to discredit Destiel (specially if that someone is Jensen. You would argue that Jensen is "heller king" or whatever, but the thing is that he's in the middle of the fandom wars and can't deny nor confirm any ship. And tbh I don't think he's very interested...)

They same applies to most Wincesties, they can't stand Misha and they are also afraid the new shows would further drift away from a "only brothers" centered vision.

Plus, the J2 fallout debacle, which is still well alive no matter how much "brother forever" PR Jensen and Jared play. Just look at the last Rosenbaum's podcast; J2 stans and Jared stans were very disappointed with most things Jensen said.

The Ackles Army, which I guess also have some J2/wincesties and Cockles/Destiel shippers, but still I suspect almost all of them are pissed off with the ships (specially real people shipping), and are only interested in Dean/Jensen. Most of them probably want to get rid of both Jared and Misha.

The ones who are not interested in any ship and neither stan any of the actors; they are just sick of the fandom wars. And those who actually cares about ships/actors/whatever but are very respectful and friendly with any side and they are heartbroken about how the fandom has been shattered since the finale. (I suspect these 2 groups are the majority but they can't be heard above the noise of the other sides of the fandom)

Long story short: the SPN fandom is literally the Middle East of the fandoms. You have Christian, Muslims, Jews, and competing countries and superpowers always fighting with each other in neverending wars. In fact, this fandom says A LOT about the human nature. I find it kind of fascinating.

And all of them want more and new SPN content, but they are terrified it would disappoint them or fuel fandom wars even more.

Personally, I want to see new content, as long as it's good of course. I'm looking forward to see the John and Mary story, I think it has a lot of potential. And also happy for the podcast series. I agree the show is not only about Dean and Cas; in fact, I started to watch the show for Destiel, but I've been sucked by the whole history and all the characters. Deancas is only a small part of a much bigger thing, and I really enjoy that.

I know we are all discussing the latest episode of Season 16, but I need to wrap up 11 for my own sanity (because there is a LOT to discuss in my Season 12 rewatch already), so without further ado - more rambling for you.

I’m not going to include 11x20: Don’t Call Me Shurley because I think I’d like to do an entire Chuck - arc - series. Rob Benedict is a gift; that dad mug kills; and I love that the fan theories about Chuck spinning around this fandom for years turned out to be correct after all (WEIRD HOW THAT HAPPENS WITH CHARACTERS EH). Moving on.

As you will recall, two recaps and many many many crackhead other posts from my corner of super hell ago, I ended the 11x18 recap with this image of Amara realizing...”something” after Dean said Cas’s name (just before she took Casifer with her), Dean/Amara unbreakable connection be damned. Speaking of unbreakable connection this post is partially the AMARA DISSERTATION. Buckle up.

FF to 11x21: All in the Family; the boys are shooting the shit with Chuck and in the meantime, Amara is torturing Casifer. Important to note that just recently the actual Cas was enlightened that Dean wants him to cast Lucifer out, so I presume he is a little more active at this point, and that strengthens the following hypothesis. Look how Amara is looking at Casifer here:

And here, right before she touches him on the chest.

It’s the same look she gave Dean. She’s trying to decipher something; trying to figure something out.

She appears to Dean in the VERY next scene, to show him how she is torturing Casifer. But the real point is, of course, to show him how its affecting the physical form of Cas, reminding him its not just Lucifer who is suffering. It works.

DEAN

Amara is – she's in my head. [Sam looks at him sharply] Hey, I didn't ask for it, okay? She just showed up. But she's showing me visions of – of Lucifer. By Lucifer, I mean Cas, and he looks like crap – like she's really doing a number on him.

***Note, yet again, despite the *connection* Amara/Dean supposedly share, all he can think about and talk about is Cas.

And Amara knows it. That’s the realization she has in 11x18. Dean loves Cas. Then, in 11x21 she realizes Cas loves Dean. So, she uses it to her own ends. Smart girl.

Enter Donatello (I love him), prophet of (not) the Lord. He, Metatron, and Sam set out to rescue Casifer while Dean distracts Amara. If we start with the presumption she now has the prior additional insight, the following snippets of dialogue hit a little different.

AMARA

This place, this world hasn't been especially easy for you. Why not at least consider my offer?

DEAN

You're right. I am drawn to you. And it bothers the hell out of me, 'cause I can't control it.

AMARA

Then why fight it? What you're feeling is that I am the end of your struggle.

***AHEM, this was not the FACE CUPPING I requested.

What keeps Dean from having it all? What is his struggle? It’s not the monsters or the hunting. Dean’s repeatedly shown he loves this life; he doesn't want anything else (and the one time he did try it in Season 6, it was half-ass at best, and he left the minute Sam returned to go back to hunting). Dean’s KEY struggle in the show is internal. He represses his feelings, pushes his pain aside, resulting in a cycle of self-loathing and anger. That cycle keeps him from having it all - accepting he can be loved, allowing himself to give his heart to someone else. And at this point, Amara not only knows that someone else is Cas, she knows that Cas feels the same way. Girl, welcome to super hell. Take a damn seat by Sam.

11x22: We Happy Few

I’ll skim through this one so this post doesn’t completely make your eyes bleed due to the sheer length.

The splicing with the scenes of everyone assembling different factions to form the new “line-up” needed to trap Amara is excellent. I’ve already done a short post on the brilliance of Dean heading to get Crowley and the ex-boyfriend mood of it all (Dean, of all people, telling Crowley to sober up gives me an ENTIRE head canon of the Crowley/demon!Dean unseen dynamic in Season 10). And of COURSE Dean knows exactly what to say to convince Crowley to get on board. I also enjoy our future Sam-witch as the emissary to Rowena (”three’s a coven” would be a great tattoo, TBH).

BONUS:

I love her.

Big fight scene with Amara ensues, but this isn’t the finale so she cannot be beaten. However, right before she mortally wounds Chuck, she does this:

[Yelling, LUCIFER charges her from behind again, but AMARA flings him hard against a support pillar across the room.]

AMARA

Goodbye, nephew.

[She banishes LUCIFER. CASTIEL slumps unconscious to the floor.]

DEAN: Cas!

(He rushes AMARA, but she flings him away without effort.)

***She banishes Lucifer. She could have just killed him. Ended him entirely, and Cas along with him. But she BANISHES LUCIFER. Because of what she learned in the prior episode. Because of the pain she saw in both of those idiots.

She does this for Dean.

Anyway, thank you Casifer FOR YOUR SERVICE. I miss you already.

11x23: Alpha and Omega

There is nothing more precious than Dean sending his brother to check on GOD while he goes to check on his boyfriend:

DEAN: [Grunting]

Check on him.

SAM: [kneels next to Chuck]

Hey. Chuck?

[Dean kneels down next to Cas and puts a hand on his shoulder. Cas stirs and looks up at Dean]

CAS:

Dean.

DEAN:

Cas? Hey, is that you?

***All the heart eyes for the reunion!!

*********ALSO SHOULDERRRRRRRR

Chuck is dying, Rowena bonds with him. Crowley is gold in this finale. I MISS YOU MARK. This line is NOT in the transcript/script I used, and it potentially being ad libbed makes it even better.

Dean decides to deal with the end of the world by drinking ONE beer, then deciding there is “not enough” beer and grabbing Cas for a beer (and....*feelings*) run.

DEAN:

You know what? This isn't gonna be enough. I better make a run.

[Sighs]

No reason to die sober, huh?

[to Sam]

You want to?

SAM: [frustrated]

No!

*********************

DEAN:

Be right back.

SAM:

I'll stay here, find our Plan B.

DEAN:

Okay. Cas, come on.

Nothing makes me more pleased than the assumption that of COURSE Cas is coming with him. I mean, he just got him back. Also, Sam is frustrated because he is back in super hell, obvi ;)

***Now we have the little “you’re our brother” bit in the Impala beer run dialogue, but to me it’s because Dean doesn’t know how else to express what he’s feeling. Repression, people.

The look of literal PAIN on Cas’s face at the “brother” line makes me cackle. Misha Collins DESERVES AN EMMY; he is doing the Lord’s work with his Acting Choices here.

This little part before is what really gets me though, especially with all of the WORDS OF AFFIRMATION:

[Dean and Cas are driving in the Impala]

DEAN:

How you doing? You good?

I mean, you know, the whole Lucifer thing.

CAS:

I was just... so stupid.

DEAN:

No, no, no. It wasn't stupid.

You were right. You were right to let Lucifer ride shotgun.

Me and Sam wouldn't have done that.

CAS:

Well, it didn't work.

DEAN:

No, but it was our best shot, and you stepped up.

CAS:

I was just trying to help.

DEAN:

Well, and you do help, Cas.

***ITS JUST SO LOVELY. Dean asking Cas how he is doing (what Cas always asks Dean); telling Cas he wasn’t stupid (throwback to Cas telling Dean he was stupid “for the right reasons”); acknowledging that Cas does HELP. That he is important and appreciated. THIS IS SUCH GROWTH. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Speak his love language, King.

Anyway, then Dean turns into a human bomb because martyr!dean gonna martyr and be “daddy’s (Chuck filling that role here) blunt little weapon” and we get -

THE DESTIEL GOODBYE. Tell me they didn’t actually go canon for the FIRST time here. I will fight you.

LOOK at Cas watching him in the background.

These fucking desolate eyes. I’m crying.

THEY JUST GOT EACH OTHER BACK -

(I recognize this .gif is meh quality but I love that he turns and walks to him and Cas just GRABS him in this crushing hug)

DEAN [accepts the hug good-naturedly but then looks sad]

Okay, okay.

***”good naturedly??? ok Jensen “Acting Choices” Ackles. That is not “good nature” that is BLISS.

AND THEN THIS -

SOBS IN ENOCHIAN.

***I literally had to remind myself that the reunion hug is coming; it’s just an episode away. I’ll make y’all feel better too; here it is - A PERFECT PARALLEL. Curse this show.

MORE OF THIS “GOOD NATURED” HUGGING PLEASE.

Anyways, back to depressing subtext.

DEAN:

Okay, look. I want a big funeral.

All right? I'm talking epic.

Okay? Open bar, choir, Sabbath cover band, and Gary Busey reading the eulogy.

*****This scene lives in my mind rent-free as PROOF 15x20 doesn’t exist.

I can’t skip over further growth in Dean’s goodbye to Sammy.

***He’s being serious. Seasons 1-3 Dean would never have admitted this. I was a blubbering mess at this point.

So, Dean heads to Amara, and the rest of the gang heads to the bar.

CROWLEY:

Your round, Moose.

***I would love an entire bottle episode of Crowley, Sam, Rowena, and Chuck at that bar TBH.

And then, Dean saves the day. BUT NOT by dying and sacrificing himself, letting himself be used as a weapon of mass destruction. No, he fixes the DAMN WORLD by connecting to Amara emotionally, and bringing her and Chuck back together, because he understands that not to be alone is what she really needs; that her own struggle is the same as his - letting in love instead of raging against it and fighting her own need for companionship. Because that’s where ELDEST SIBLING AMARA AND Dean Winchester CONNECT. Amara isn’t in love with Dean. She identifies with Dean. She sees her own feelings in him, her own pain, and that’s why she exorcises Lucifer and saves Cas - FOR Dean. Amara’s just a Dean girl, everyone. And we know Dean girls protect Cas at all costs.

Yup. Amara Dean Girl Darkness Heller.

That’s it. That’s the dissertation.

Story Summary: Jensen and Y/N meet at a masquerade ball. Immediately sparks fly, but Jensen isn’t revealing the truth about him. The truth that he comes from royalty. What happens when Y/N finds out?

After Jensen left to relax in his own room, you sank down on the plush bed, still trying to calm your nerves. Women walked the gardens past your windows, their dresses fancier than anything you had seen. They all seemed so elegant and fancy, and you had never felt more out of place.

A huge part of you wanted to book a flight back home as soon as you could. Back home to the normalcy of your coffee shop, and a tiny shared apartment. But you couldn’t do that. You wanted to be by Jensen’s side, even if it meant being completely out of your comfort zone.

Instead of letting yourself wallow in self-pity, you stood up and made your way to the closet, planning on getting items out and ready for the ball tonight.

Your clothes were hanging on plump, ivory silk hangers. All the wrinkles had already been pressed out, looking nicer than they had in a long time. The closet was the size of your room back home, smelling faintly of lavender with a plush bench in the middle for sitting. Three mirrors lined the far wall, giving whoever stayed here ample opportunity to make sure that they looked their best.

Drawers and shelves lined the other wall, your shoes barely making a dent, looking shabby next to the gleaming pain. Even your clothes looked as out of place as you felt, and you could feel your anxiety rising again.

As you leaned against the cool, plastered wall, there was a sharp knock, before this petite woman stuck her head inside. “Miss Y/L/N?”

“Yes?” You asked, wondering who she was. She had some of the curliest hair you had ever seen. Not wild, or frizzy, but beautiful curls that were piled high on her head, a vibrant dark orange. Her eyes were wide, a brilliant shade of blue, while freckles dotted her nose. She barely made it to your shoulder, wearing the same dress the rest of the maids had been wearing.

“I’m Margaret. I think Benson told you I would be coming.”

You nodded. “I’m sorry, that’s just..this is all…,”

“A little overwhelming?” She finished for you. “I understand. I came from a tiny little fishing village, to work in the palace at the age of 16. My first year I felt completely overwhelmed, and wanted to quit at least once a day.”

“And why didn’t you?”

She shrugged. “The pay is nice. And for the most part, everyone is nice to me. Or they don’t notice me. And I get to work with some of the prettiest gowns in the world. Speaking of which, let’s get you ready for the ball tonight.”

“I brought a dress,” you started to say, but she shook her head, guiding you out of the closet and into the bathroom. It had to be one of the fanciest bathrooms you had ever stepped into. The floor was gleaming white marble, so shiny in spots you could almost see your reflection. A large mirror ran one wall, with an antique, dainty vanity perched in front. A walk-in shower was on the other side, with three different shower heads, the walls matching the floor. A claw foot bathtub, probably as old as this whole palace was perched on a pedestal, right in front of the window looking down at a large pond.

“The Queen wanted to make sure you fit in during this ball, so she had one sent in from the finest designer in our country. Along with shoes, jewelry, and makeup. I will be helping with all that,” Margaret assured you. “So all you have to decide is bath or shower?”

You couldn’t remember the last time you had taken a bath. It was such a luxury of time, and you usually were in and out of the shower in a blink. “How much time do we have?”

Margaret smiled at you, and you were grateful such a sweet person had been sent up to help you out. “We have more than enough time for you to relax in a bath.”

Almost an hour later you were wrapped in a silky bathrobe. People had been bustling in and out of your room for the past ten minutes, bring in shoe boxes, clothing bags, makeup, and jewelry boxes. You had looked over to Margaret in exasperation, and she sent a kind smile your way. “Her Grace might have also bought some items for the rest of your stay. She is so excited that her son has brought a girlfriend home.”

“I’m not really his…,” you started to argue, but you thought better of it. After all, you had just traveled thousands of miles to meet his family.

Margaret was busy styling your hair, gently but with more skill than you had expected for someone so young. She wielded the curling iron easily, turning your hair into beautiful trends, piling some high on your head. Your makeup had already been applied. Not enough to make you look like a clown, but she had given you smokey eyes, highlighted your cheekbones, and covered your lips with the creamiest lipstick.

“The two of you make such a beautiful couple,” Margaret continued to talk as she worked on your hair. “He’s so dreamy. I shouldn’t be telling you this, but I had such a crush on him. He visited our little village. Just once, with the King and Queen, and he shook my hand.”

You could see the faraway look in her eyes, the blush slightly covering her cheeks. “He is handsome. When I first saw him, he was wearing a tux, and a mask, and I couldn’t look away.”

“You love him, don’t you?” She asked, making your heart stop. You hadn’t even thought about the L word yet. It was too soon, and there was so much…

“I like him,” you admitted. “Even with everything that comes with him, I do care for him more than I thought I would.”

“Well, let’s get you into your new dress so you can dazzle him,” she said, standing back to admire her work. Your hair looked shiny and soft, elegantly piled on top of your head. Standing up, you followed her into the closet, which was now full of items. Flats and heels, brands that you never would have been able to afford were placed next to your Keds. Dressed, slacks and blouses hung next to your jeans and shirts, the price tags still on them. Glancing down at one, your eyes grew wide.

“I can’t except them! Look at these prices!” You exclaimed, immediately dropping the sleeve. “These are more than my rent!”

“You will. The Queen gave them to you. To not wear them would be to insult her Highness,” Margaret argued. “She is just trying to make you feel at home.”

The clothes were gorgeous, and you couldn’t wait to try them on. But still…”I think I’d feel more at home in my jeans and t-shirts,” you muttered.

It was then you noticed the dress hanging up behind the bench. It was dark green silk, just a little darker than Jensen’s eyes. The skirt was full, no doubt with a petticoat or two underneath. “Go on, put it on,” Margaret coaxed.

It felt a little uncomfortable, her standing there while you were expected to slip your robe off and put on the dress. “Oh, I forgot!” She exclaimed. She raced over to the drawers, opening the top one and pulling a couple of items out. “New panties, garters, thigh highs. Oh, and a strapless bra, which is a must for this dress. I’ll leave you to it then.”

She quietly shut the closet door behind her, leaving you to get dressed. The items she had placed out were exactly your size, fitting better than anything you had purchased before. They were lacy and black, and you felt scandalous wearing them, standing in front of the mirror. Wondering if Jensen would like them, wondering if you would ever be brave enough to stand in front of him like this.

Trying to ignore the butterflies flying about in your belly, or the warmth pooling deep in your core at the thought, you unzipped the dress, stepping into it. “Can you help?” You called out, and Margaret stepped back inside, easily zipping you up.

The bodice fit snugly, showing off your cleavage. The sleeves were off the shoulder, scalloped and beautiful. You felt like a princess, which was fitting since your date was a prince. “You look beautiful,” Margaret whispered, before taking a pair of heels from the shelves. “These will go perfect.”

You let her place them next to you, wanting to put them on last. Opening another drawer, she held out a large, velvet box. “These are from the Royal collection.”

Carefully, you opened it, a little gasp escaping your lips as you looked down at the opulence in front of you. Earrings, a necklace, ring and bracelet were sitting on black velvet. Full of diamonds, with the largest emeralds you had ever seen. “I can’t...they’re too much!” You exclaimed, moving to hand them back, but Margaret shook her head.

“You must. They were picked out, just for you.” Taking the box, she settled it down next to you. Handing up the earrings, she waited while you put them on before the bracelet was next. Finally, it was the necklace, and you leaned down so she could clasp it around your neck. It was cold and heavy, and you barely brushed your hand across the emerald before a large knock echoed through the closet.

“I think your escort is here,” she smiled, smoothing out your dress before standing back to let you through.

DeanCas Wedding February 14, 2021 One Valentines day, the supernatural fandom created and celebrated a wedding for Dean Winchester and Castiel which spanned social media platforms. Originally inspired by tweets by Chad Lindberg and Samantha Ferris, the event soon took on a life of its own. Fans created art, stories, and other fanworks, shared headcanons, and took this opportunity to celebrate the love between Dean and Cas. Valentine’s Day at the Roadhouse February 14-16, 2021 Actors Chad Linberg (Ash) and Samantha Ferris (Ellen) made tweets to role play a Valentine’s Day celebration at the Roadhouse. Several of their comments seemed to be suggesting that they would celebrate the wedding of Dean and Cas. Ferris and Lindberg did not roleplay a wedding, and both actors became defensive when the subject was brought up.
