It hasn't happened at Duquesne University for 47 years!!! It's time to party like it's 1977!!!
CONGRATS to the Duquesne Dukes, the 2024 Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Basketball CHAMPIONS!!! Yours Truly was honored to be a part of the fun/action at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse on the Bluff this Conference Championship season on behalf of Pittverse Community!!
Good Luck to the Dukes as they FINALLY head to the NCAA March Madness Men's Basketball Tournament for the first time since '77!!!
As a paraphrased line went from a Made-For-TV movie about a Miss America from Hawaii in the 1990s: I knew I was blessed I had done four photoshoots with KDKA-TV's Mary Ours in the past.
But after we've done our FIFTH, today, I'd like to thank her for being one of my YINZER Star/Model friends!
DUQUESNE'S WOMEN'S TEAM LOCKS THE DOOR ON THEIR SEASON AT THE UPMC COOPER FIELDHOUSE FALLING FOUR POINTS SHORT AGAINST ST. JOSEPH'S
In her final home game this season, Junior Megan McConnell had 18 points and 7 rebounds. In her final home game ever, Senior Ayanna Townsend also had 18 points and 7 rebounds. But their efforts weren't enough as the Duquesne Dukes were defeated in their UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse 2023-2024 season finale to the visitors from Philly, the St. Joseph's Hawks, 77-73. Duquesne's loss ends their regular season with a record of 18-11 overall, and 13-5 in the Atlantic 10.
And on a personal note, this game was Yours Truly's final Duquesne Basketball game of the season. Thanks to Duquesne Athletics for allowing me cover Dukes Men's and Women's Basketball this season at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse!

Down by three at the end of the first half Duquesne, lead by Jimmy Clark III's overall game-leading 22 points, scored 44 points in the second half. Those aforementioned second half points helped the Dukes put away the visitors from Philly, the LaSalle Explorers, 75-63. Duquesne's win now has them with a record of 17-11 overall, and 7-8 in the Atlantic 10.

Duquesne's Dae Dae Grant lead all scorers with 31 points, including scoring 6 of 13 from beyond the three-point arch. The Dukes went on a 10-0 run by the middle of the first half and never looked back from there as they rolled to an 81-66 victory at home over the visiting Billikens from Saint Louis! Duquesne's win increases their overall record to 16-10, and their Atlantic 10 Conference record to 6-7.

Fousseymi Drame and Jake DiMichele combined for 30 points, 15 points each. But their efforts fell short in an effort to extend the Duquesne Dukes' four-game winning streak as they fell to the visiting Davidson Wildcats, 72-57.
Duquesne's loss matches Davidson's overall record, 13-9, and their Atlantic 10 Conference record, 3-6. The photos were taken on behalf of Pittverse Community.
