Neurodivergency is wild, everyone.
The neurodivergent urge to NEVER throw anything away, even if it’s broken/torn/ruined in some way, JUST IN CASE it comes in handy.
I have a pajama rotation I have lived by for over five years, and my Thurs-Sun top between showers is this super comfy HU lounge tank. Well, a couple years ago it got a hole in it, so, I went to the HU site and replaced it (and in hindsight, should’ve bought like five of them). Fast forward to now, there are like, five dime sized holes in my current replacement tank, and I was spiraling (because that’s all I’ve been doing lately 🙃) because I can’t really sew, and I can’t just BUY a new shirt that’s a totally different texture (because I did that for my Tues-Thurs pj shirt and it’s been a year and I STILL don’t like the new one, too thick) so I googled how to sew and it was not going well, so I posted on facebook whining about the neurodivergent routines and clothing rotations I have, honestly just hoping someone would offer to fix my shirt for me 😅 (side note: I did try to find the actual shirt, first on poshmark with no luck, then on HU with no luck, then I found it on a super sketchy site which was cool except it was super sketchy and the link wouldn’t even open on my husband’s phone when I sent it to him so, that was a no go 😞)
And, someone commented explaining they totally get it!! and had knowledge of sewing and was trying to ask me about the fabric, if I could patch it, etc., and I’m like, no, it’s pretty lightweight, I don’t have any other shirt that’s similar otherwise it would solve my problem ha, and while they’re trying to talk me through it I get hit by this random thought:
“Wait, what if I saved the original one?? I don’t like to throw things out! I always save stuff! I could use the original as scrap fabric for patches!!”
So I went digging through three boxes of old clothes in my closet, was about to admit defeat, then thought to check my pajama drawer, and, it was the second shirt from the top. SECOND FROM THE TOP. It’s just been hanging out in my pajama drawer for two/three years, I didn’t toss it even though it has a hole!
And I was like, perfect! I can just cut up this one and then patch the other one and don’t have to worry about different textures! And then my brain took it one step further and went, wait a minute, the old shirt has ONE tiny little pea sized hole, the current shirt has five dime sized holes... why not mend the shirt that’s in better shape instead of cutting it up and trying to fix five fucking holes?!
So I threw it in the dryer with a dryer sheet (because it smelled like stale drawer) while I showered, and now I don’t even care about fixing it because it’s my SHIRT and it’s the proper day and it fits just right and is super lightweight and I will worry about mending it when the hole gets bigger (or when someone offers to do it for me 😅) 😂
So, yeah, that was a crazy/chaotic two hours of pure stress for no reason. And DAMN I hate my brain sometimes (like needing a pajama rotation!) but DAMN I love it sometimes (like saving a holey shirt!) and it was just a wild ride.
So here are the shirts, the original on the left (you can tell it was in a drawer cuz the fold lines while the one on the right was on a hanger 😂) and a picture of me being so damn proud of myself for essentially being a hoarder 😅

This week's theme: Show, Don't Tell!
This is a character who was designed for the Canto Bight sequence in The Last Jedi. If you look closely, you can see this character’s mask is made out of a stormtrooper helmet with the top and cheek parts cut out, then bedazzled with pearls. His chest plate also looks very similar to Vader’s, which makes him an excellent KOV.
He is extremely audacious to wear these things, and an Imperial officer badge out in public! This bold design might show that, as the First Order gains power, it has become more acceptable to show support for the dead Empire. Or perhaps, in the bizarre, “neutral” world of Canto Bight, such horrifying fashion has always been allowed. The parallels to the real world (Confederate flags, Nazi symbols, etc) are only too easy to imagine.
He is an intriguing character, but, since we are told nothing about him, not even in the concept art book, we can only extrapolate these details from what we are shown. (It seems the final design in the film, which was further explained in the Visual Dictionary, does not have the Vader chest plate nor Imperial badge, and his mask is no longer so obviously trooper-like nor covered in pearls. So only the concept art version of him is actually interesting.)
In general, the sequel trilogy does not explain its politics as much as the other two trilogies, but the Canto Bight sequence is upsettingly revelatory. I think it should have been even longer, if only so Finn and Rose could meet this character and punch him in the face.
Concept art called “Pearl General” by Tim Napper, drawn in 2015, from The Art of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, written by Phil Szostak, published 2017.

Why didn't you like the mandalorian finale?
I could discuss this at length but others like @spectroscopes and @communistkenobi can probably summarise more eloquently than me so heres just some main pointers
- Din face out in front of a whole ass room of people including someone he's never met before and a woman thats kinda showing interest in killing him due to the threat he poses to her desired position, when he could have just asked for a moment alone with his kid and it wouldnt have changed the ending.
- like literally 1 episode prior he was having a panic attack because he had to take his helmet off but he did it for his son and that made it profound but now hes just cool with it. This is a massive part of Din's identity and religion and i am not cool with just retconning that for the sake of saving time in a finale.
- setting up din as mand'alor plotline which he clearly does not care about or really want and tbh neither do i
- ahsoka "i cant take him he's your son and he's attached to you" tano vs luke "baby napper" skywalker
- "he doesnt want to to go"/"no he just needs your permission" din said what he said bitch take a hint
- adding to that point i do not want to see luke skywalker cgi face in the future but also i really wish they used literally any other jedi. We've already explored luke so many times over and it just adds so many plot contrivances (history with boba fett, shit they dont mention in the sequels, the fact that he's just such a recognisable and massive powerhouse of a character in this universe) i hate it here
- also if we're treating this as an ending (which i dont think it is, I think inevitably Din and grogu will reunite), then we just return to the traditional skywalker family youngling massacres
- feel like utter shit i just want din and grogu together

2019 Favorites
Rules: Time to love ourselves! Choose 5 favorite works you created in the past year (fics, arts, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2019. Tag as many creators as you want to spread the love!
tagged by my friend @cassianserso
Welp I didn’t post much fic or writing here in 2019 so this was easy:
1. YOURS IS NO DISGRACE
“That’s my best girl.”
I am really quite fond of this story. I wrote it in the midst of a common depression, when I was feeling guilty about my own mental illness, and wanted to create a story where a parent comforts their child for it. Emphasizing how the child is so loved and so worthy even with it, and still, so wanted. It’s the kind of thing I so desperately crave to hear. The response to this story was similarly heartening, as people reached out to share their sympathy and their own similar experiences. This is easily one of my favorite fics I’ve written, I’m quite proud of it.
2. INTERLUDES
My friend @leaiorganas requested this story, dealing with the four years of separation between SOMETHING YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE A NAME FOR and AMOR FATI. @vaderkat also asked for this, but it took me about two years to write it. I struggled a bit writing it, which was a pretty significant sign to me that I might be done with the Nonsense. But I like the character development that occurred, as it was tricky to do, since the characters were so clearly bookended in the other two stories and the point of the four years of separation was that Cassian remained static and Jyn really grew, and those are two very different journeys. But I think the story turned out okay, and I finally got to give Michelle something back for all her great kindness, so I’m content with it.
3. THE FOLLOWER
I also struggled to write this one! @serial-napper (it will never let me tag them on tumblr, grr) requested it as an epilogue to PARALLAX, the AU to the AU. But when I sat down to write it I realized that PARALLAX ends pretty completely, and I didn’t have anything to add. So I backtracked and wrote a prologue to the whole series instead. It was fun to write an alternate history for Cassian (and whoa was it weird) and how he might have developed differently if Rogue One had come to him earlier. It wasn’t what my prompter wished for, exactly, but I think they did like it anyway.
and, uh, yeah. that was it! I mean I did write an essay on THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, which is fine, though I’m not particularly proud of it, if only because it was a bummer to write but something I wanted to do to get my thoughts in order. I do like writing film criticism.
so since I have one more thing I can plug, I’ll also share this:
5. and the world will be better for this
It’s a full Sequel Trilogy AU where Han and Leia have identical twin sons: Ben and Bail, and one of them becomes Kylo Ren and the other remains in the Light. I’d been sort of working on it, off and on, since 2018, maybe?? But I was really put into focus at the end of 2019 and wound up not only finishing it, but posting it, and now I’m nearly done with a sequel. one of the great tragedies of the Nonsense was the lack of lightsabers and Jedi Fun so I am going all in with this series which makes it a full ride. It’s also been forcing me to get creative in re-imagining a series of movies with this huge, critical difference.
But I also get to think about relationships between mothers and sons, and brothers, which were some of my favorite parts of writing the Nonsense. It’s always cool to think about which themes tend to reoccur in one’s writing projects.
tagging: @callioope, @leaiorganas, @fortysevenswrites, @alecjmarsh, and anyone else who wishes to talk about their work!!!! let’s hear it.

Pursuant to a post I previously made that read as follows:
Do you ever stop and think how sad it is that if the Jedi had taken better care of their padawans, we could have had Jedi Knight Asajj Ventress kicking Separatist butt? It makes me sad.
I recently found out that (in Legends) Aurra Sing was also a Jedi youngling before she got kidnapped by pirates.
Which makes me wonder, was it losing that place among the Jedi that made them go mental, or are Force-sensitive children just more prone to go wildly off the rails if they don’t have proper guidance from Force-sensitive adults?
Grief for her master was certainly strong motivation for Asajj, but with Aurra it’s less clear. IMO Ezra Bridger is a strong argument for the latter theory - sure he didn’t go bonkers (yet) by the time the Ghost crew found him, but he was still young and had already gone rather - amoral, I guess?
It certainly takes the wind out of the “Jedi are baby-nappers” argument if every Force-sensitive kid has a high probability of becoming a loose canon if left in regular society.
Thoughts?

2018 BAFTA Nominations Introduced
New Post has been published on https://takenews.net/2018-bafta-nominations-introduced/
2018 BAFTA Nominations Introduced
The nominations for this yr’s BAFTAs have been introduced, with Guillermo Del Toro’s The Form Of Water main the pack. The monster-romance seems in a dozen classes forward of Darkest Hour and present awards season darling Three Billboards Exterior Ebbing, Missouri, which each rack up 9. Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk is simply behind with eight, as is Blade Runner 2049. Denis Villeneuve’s sequel is clearly being thought of a creative success, if not a box-office hit. There’s nonetheless nothing for The Submit although, following its comparable snubbing by the Golden Globes.
After twelve years, the BAFTA ceremony this yr could have a brand new presenter: Joanna Lumley is taking up from Stephen Fry. She’ll be saying the winners on the Royal Albert Corridor on Sunday 18 February. The complete record of nominations follows.
