“Pssst…”
“Choke.”
“Wanna makeout?”
Instantly, as if on a cue, Hajime’s face blisters into a flush, eyes widening and brows angry as he whips his head to face you.
You’re smiling, and he hates it, and you’re wearing his shirt that completely drowns your frame, hands and knees on the mattress just inches away, and he’s convinced he could live an extra 15 years if you hadn’t stumbled into his life.
But you did stumble into his life. Yay him.
His pencil taps rapidly against his desk, his studying having been completely hijacked by your straightforward flirts. Inviting you to do homework with him never really ended well, and how he hasn’t learned this lesson yet, is a mystery to you both.
“I’m busy.”
You huff and shift to sit on the bed as the gods intended, “you can take three minutes to makeout with me.”
“When was the last time we made out less than ten minutes?” He asks, and he wishes he hadn’t by the way your cocky grin splays over your face.
“Cant help that you’re into me,” you croon. He groans as he tosses his hand up to his face, scrubbing gently to revitalize himself. He’s quickly snapped out of it when he feels your feet wrap around the base of his desk chair and pull him closer to the bed.
This, has him chuckling from disbelief, moving his hands from his face and letting his eyes flick towards your feet. “Be so for real right now,” he says, snickering.
You bite your tongue between your teeth, but before you can do anything else, you scream as he makes a dash at you, barely letting you kick in defense before he pins you down to the bed, his broad chest doing most of the caging while his fingers spider up your sides and his lips sponge kisses on your neck and ears.
“You’re so annoying,” he growls, the vibrations of the rasp tickling your neck. His fingers still and instantly, your arms shift to toss around his neck, looking up at him longingly.
You lift a hand up to card his hair away from his face, “hi.”
“Hey baby.”
With that, he leans down to kiss you, knee planting on the bed to keep him stable and allow him to deepen the kiss. You mewl happily, letting your fingers push his head impossibly closer to you.
You taste sweet, like the bowl of fruit you’ve been stealing from him for the past hour, and you’re so warm from being swaddled in his blankets that he feels calm just by being close to you.
Then again, you always have that affect on him.
With a slight bite of your lips, he slowly starts to pull back, planting little pecks to soothe the bites. You giggle happily and reach up eagerly for each one.
“Haji?”
“What?”
Biting your lip cheekily, he hardens his gaze and reinforces his grip slightly, ready to restart a tickle attack if needed.
“Got you to makeout with me.”
You smirk and lick his nose with the tip of your tongue, making him reel back slightly with a scrunch of his face. He looks at you blankly, while you laugh and play with the locks of hair at the nape of his neck.
“How do you always manage to get your damn way?” He mumbles, leaning down to press another kiss on your lips. Under him, you giggle and chase his lips, clearly eager that now you’ve gotten him to kiss you once, he’s keen to give you more.
Like he always does.
Like he always will.
“Cant help that you’re into me.”
“I really am. Asshole.”
“I love you, too.”

girlfriend
summary: Iwaizumi x F!Reader. you might be his girlfriend—but she's his girl.
word count: 2.4k
cw: hurt/comfort. a lot of reader insecurity. fear/mention of emotional cheating but there is none
a/n: this actually fills @akimind's request for my 500 follower event one million years ago but the formatting is tooo hard so. here it is!!! iwaizumi + angst + college au + "that's not what i said." LOVE YOU SORRY HOPE IT HURTS AND IS ALSO ENJOYABLE. <<<<3333333
You didn't mean to fall in love with your boyfriend.
You hadn't gone into this expecting Hajime to become your boyfriend at all, actually. You liked him. Liked how easy it was to be with him. How warm he was when you let your touch linger on him and pretended it was more than a flirty friendship. You hadn't ever predicted it would become so, because Hajime was hung up on his ex-girlfriend.
They'd traveled over oceans to be together, coming to Irvine from the same prefecture in Japan. They had still been together when you met him, her head tucked beneath his chin, his arms wrapped around her waist. Your first thought was "oh, he's beautiful." Your second thought was "they look like they're made for each other." You shoved the first thought deep inside a secret crevice of your brain and stuck out your hand to introduce yourself with a bright smile.
The strain of new adulthood got to them, though, or so you assumed: you were never privy to the gory details of the breakup. They remained friendly, in the same friend group, and it just always seemed obvious to you that they would someday reconcile. It wasn't until two years after their break that you were able to start showing regular, platonic affection to Hajime without feeling like an attempted homewrecker.
It was just before graduation, having dragged him away for a late-night bite to eat so neither of you would starve to death studying for finals, when everything flipped on its head. Your plan to energize the both of you had backfired; you were yawning every other sentence and came close to laying your head on the table before Hajime put his palm down in front of your face.
"Come sit next to me," he'd said, so you maneuvered around into his side of the booth and been promptly pulled into his side. You had looked up at him, murmuring a sleepy question that was more wordless noise than actual English, and that was it. Something you didn't understand softened his gaze, and then he tilted his head to the side and brushed his lips over yours.
It was a perfect first kiss.
In the weeks following it, you had bounced violently between insisting to yourself that he hadn't meant for you to read too far into the kiss and your natural instinct to go after what your heart wanted. And the more he proved that it wasn't a one-off anomaly, that he could kiss you right out of drought into a superbloom, the more you were convinced. Iwaizumi Hajime wouldn't knowingly break your heart.
When Hajime asked you to be official, wildflower bouquet in hand, the lights of the now-empty graduation pavilion shining down on the both of you, you said yes, your whole heart and none of your brain in the matter.
As you entered your apartment hand-in-hand with him, greeting all the friends who had gathered there to celebrate the end of undergraduate school, you remembered that the key modifier in "Iwaizumi Hajime wouldn't knowingly break your heart" was knowingly. He seemed happy enough announcing the development to everyone else, and then she had walked in, carrying a bottle of wine that almost slipped from her grasp when she saw your proximity. He had dropped your hand—just for a second, but it had happened, and then picked it back up like his sentence hadn't died in his mouth at the sight of her.
He'd always gotten a little defensive when people mentioned their relationship, his features shutting down into a blank, tight expression. Though they obviously weren't as close as they had been for most of their lives, they were still both part of your friend group, and he always seemed to laugh just a little harder at her jokes, kept eye contact a little longer, got embarrassed more easily around her. You didn't want to be jealous or insecure or possessive, but it just felt more increasingly obvious that you were a rebound, a cheap, temporary dupe meant to fill in until Hajime realized and returned to the love of his life.
It was hard to be angry at him, though, because you knew with every fiber of your bleeding heart that he wouldn't do this to you on purpose. You knew he thought he cared for you, that he thought he had moved on. He did a good job almost every day coming very close to persuading you of it, enough to keep you from breaking up with him and leaving him behind, but never quite erasing your insecurities for more than a few weeks at a time.
One of the first mornings you woke up in his bed, well rested and sore in all the right places, he was missing. You got up, mourning the softness of his sheets and the scent of him on the pillowcases, and slipped into one of his shirts before leaving his room to explore.
He was cooking, shirtless in the kitchen, and if that wasn't one of the yummiest things you had seen in your life.
"Good morning," you said, leaning against his counter.
"Very," he returned, flipping an egg in the pan. "Looking like that. I think—I mean, it seems like that shirt always gets chosen to be the boyfriend shirt." He had narrowly avoided saying her name, but you had heard it threatening to tumble out of his mouth. You bit back a response, but your smile still dropped, and he spent the next hour making allusive, sorry overtures without either of you actually acknowledging the slip.
You never wore that shirt again. He gave you another one, you accepted it, and life moved on.
Except you had somehow become mired in the past with a relationship that was long over, and without university or a job to distract you—you were starting at the end of September, which felt aeons away—it was eating you alive, especially as Hajime left for a preliminary return trip to Japan.
"Did you hear how Mattsun and Makki greeted him when he landed?" You sit in the car on the way to the airport, packed in with Hajime's ex, successfully hyping yourself up to see him again until she addressed the group.
"Oh, yeah," you laugh. "So funny." You haven't had a conversation with Hajime that had more depth than "how are u? miss u" for the trip's duration. She's your friend, too, though you've never been close, but there's something unbearable about admitting it to her now, when you're so unsure of your relationship's current status. It has to mean something that he was keeping her updated and active in his life, didn't it?
You find solace in knowing that you don't blame her at all. If you could find an ounce of resentment for her in your heart, you would probably have left Hajime by now—isn't that the mark of a truly evil plot-pushing girlfriend?
You cry when you see him again.
"Happy tears," you assure him, and hide your face in his shoulder.
Later, alone in his apartment, you bite your lip when Hajime asks if you want to sleep over.
"Okay, babe, I don't want to pressure you," he says, and you can feel yourself tensing up as he speaks. "But I feel like you've been—off all day. Is everything okay?"
You blanch and focus on the cowlick on the right side of his head, the one that's endeared him so much to you, so you don't have to look him in the eyes. Too much is bubbling up in your throat, your brain thrown into overdrive, and he's staring at you with so much worry in his eyes it's just not right to leave him hanging:
"No."
Hajime makes a noise you don't understand, low in his throat. "Is it because I didn't call enough while I was gone? Because I can explain that, I promise."
"No," you rush to explain. "I don't—it wasn't you, exactly. I've just—ever since we started dating—I think you still love her."
You're picking at your nails, a bad habit you've had since you were small, and he takes your hands in his, smooths his thumbs over the torn cuticles.
"I don't," he says, finally, neutrally, though his face hasn't formed into the cold mask you're used to seeing when she's brought up. "Ever since we started dating?"
"Before," you admit. "I always thought you would get back together. You just seemed so made for each other."
"But we weren't," a little pucker between his eyebrows forms. "So—what did you think when we started dating?"
"When you first kissed me," you say, "I thought maybe it was a one-off. That you wanted something casual. And then it got more serious, and I thought maybe I could just suppress my insecurities until they went away, and I mean, I really thought you liked me."
"I do," his voice grows more agitated, his lips thinning out.
"Yeah, but..." You trail off. "You would do things that made me think, oh, he's just the perfect guy, they just looked so amazing because I was jealous, and then every so often I'd see you interact with her and it wasn't like how we are at all. I know the insecurity is my own fault, that's not on you, but I feel like it's holding both of us back."
"What do you mean holding us back? You don't think you make me happy?" He snaps, and you wince.
"Not like you are with her! Every time she comes in the room you get this look on your face, like you're speechless. Like-like the songs, Haji, I just..."
He lets go of your hands, crosses his arms.
"Do you really think I'd do that to you?"
"No, Haji, I know you'd never cheat. That's why I fell in love with you! You're a good guy, but I don't want you to wake up one day and break both our hearts because she's meant to be your girl and I'm just your fucking girlfriend." Your eyes sting, your chest heaving by the end of the sentence.
"You love me?" He's quieter now, giving you a little more space to breathe.
"What? That's not what I said."
"Yes, it is," he says, a little smile growing at the corners of his mouth, as though he can't control it. "You love me."
"I'm sorry, I don't understand why you're focusing on that," you wipe at your eyes with the back of your hand. "It's true, I just don't get it."
"Because you make me happier than she ever did," he promises, crowding you up against the counter and motioning for you to jump up to sit on top of it after you can go no further. "I'm weird when she's around because she's my ex, sure, but not because I still want her. It... ended badly. It's a miracle we didn't pull the entire friend group into it, and I never wanted to make her look bad to them, so I'm always trying really hard to look, uh, normal around her. We're on better terms now, but I haven't wanted her in years, honey."
"She knew about what you were doing when I didn't," you mumble, feeling small in the stormy release of emotions. "And she knows so much about you I don't in general."
"We grew up together," Hajime reminds you. "It would have been one of the guys. I know I didn't tell her anything. You can check my call history, my texts."
You shake your head. "I believe you."
"Really?" He arches a brow, and you laugh and push gently at his shoulder.
"Yes, really."
"You know how long I had a crush on you before I did anything about it? I thought you weren't interested, and then you finally started being even more affectionate with me than you were with our other friends, and I took the chance."
"Rookie numbers," you preen under his gaze. "I liked you... pretty much as soon as I met you. But I suppressed it 'cause I didn't want to be a homewrecker."
"You're sweet," he chuckles. "I promise, you have nothing to worry about there. I'm never gonna wake up and not be grateful to see you drooling on my bed."
"You're the worst, you know that?"
"Yeah, yeah," he looks at you fondly, swiping his thumbs under your lower lashes. "You love me, though."
"Oh," your lips part. "And the not calling in Japan?"
He scrunches his nose. "I was trying not to spoil anything. I wanted to, uh, discuss it with you first, but you should know my friends and family are all waiting to embarrass me if I have to turn everything around now."
"Okay? I'll consider your dignity, but I make no promises," you tease. He drops his head to your shoulder for a moment, taking a deep breath, and you wind a hand into his hair, petting him until he straightens.
"So, you know how I have that paid internship opportunity back home?" You nod, not wanting to be reminded. You'll do it for him, but... long distance sucks. "I went to their office and turned it down. I want to go through with my doctorate."
"Oh, that's huge!" You gasp. "That's incredible, I'm so happy for you!"
"So the part that has to do with you is, um," he says, "you're planning to stay here, right?"
"Yeah," you say, "my next step is like a twenty minute commute, thankfully."
"I want to finish my schooling in the States," he tells you, "and then after that, I want to go wherever you go."
"Hajime," you start, but he puts a shaking hand on your knee, and that shuts you up.
"I love you," he says seriously. "It's like I said, okay? You make me happier than anyone else. I know you're the one for me, if you'll have me. If not, I get—"
You grab his face and smash your lips into his, and if that doesn't get the message across? You don't know what will.

hihihi can I plzpkzplzpkz have iwaizumi hajime w a oikawas little sister!reader
iwaizumi hajime • my pride and joy
genre: fluff/suggestive
Tumblr media
“babe, should we bring the watermelon or beer?” hajime called from the kitchen. his eyes were fixated on the brand new bottle of wine in his hands as he read the label curiously, a crease forming between his brows and a frown on his lips giving away his current emotion.
“um, i think kawa is going to bring the watermelons.” you answered as you entered the room after getting ready in the bedroom. “wait, no- matsukawa is.”
“so beer it is.” he sighed before settling the bottle into the open tote bag on the counter, his attention having yet to travel on you ever since you walked in.
“sorry.” you apologetically mumbled, watching his back muscles contort briefly when he set the wine down.
your prideful older brother, toru, was hosting a celebratory cookout in honor of his departure to argentina next week, gathering everyone he had ever met in his luxurious backyard this evening.
you were already practically sick that he would be so far away from you for a pretty large period of time, and this crowded get together didn’t help calm your nerves. if you weren’t dating his best friend, you easily could have gotten away with not attending and rescheduling with him in the morning to go out for lunch instead. but, iwaizumi persisted that you both go, reasoning that it would ‘matter more in the future’ and ‘you’re his favorite person, you have to go’. it was pathetic how well you listened to him, you decided.
his breath hitched as he turned around and caught sight of you, suddenly feeling anxious for the following few hours with you and two hundred other people. hajime always knew you were gorgeous, even as a child, but it never failed to take his breath away at how well you cleaned up.
“hey, sexy.” he mumbled under his breath before cockily leaning against the marble counter and shamelessly checking you out.
your cheeks heated at his attention, his predatory gaze and sly smirk making your sundress feel suddenly tight. you knew it was one of his favorites, but had faith that he would try to keep it together just for today— even at home. but, obviously you were too hopeful because now he’s practically drooling on his shirt.
“haji, wait until we get home before you start flirting. you’re only going to work yourself up with no relief.”
he groaned like a angsty teenager, throwing his head back dramatically at your denial. he understood why, of course, given that you both were staying at oikawa’s until the later when party had ended, but he still found himself slightly disappointed. it would be hours until you arrived home, hours of other people gawking at you while trying to hide from hajime’s view to avoid getting killed and he really wasn’t in the mood to watch you cry as he and toru argued over a ruined party.
since childhood, iwaizumi had been scarily protective of you, even more so than your own brother. everyone was terrified of him when it came to you, and even though you were hot, they all knew better than to pay you any mind. any more than a quick ‘hi’ would send them home battered and sulking, and absolutely no one planned on that fate tonight.
but, he was sure someone would try to tempt him with the way that dress hugged your curves.
“oh, stop acting like a child. you’ll get your fix on the car ride home— if you’re good.” you placed a quick kiss to his jaw for reassurance as you left the room once more, heading to the bathroom to finish your makeup.
good, he’ll be indeed.
the party was chaotic, just as you and hajime had suspected. your brother’s two acer backyard was filled with far more people than he had claimed he invited, and the many conversations overlapped each other loudly.
it was gorgeous though, the decorators sure outdid themselves with the many yards of fairy lights that hung over everyone’s heads and the floral arrangements took all of the guest’s breath away as they entered. drinks were in each hand, the variety being either a wine glass or a beer bottle, most picking the former.
tonight, you and iwaizumi chose to stay near the gazebo where oikawa and his fiancé stood as they greeted all of the guests and old friends of his with large smiles on their faces. most old high school teammates would make their way over to you two next, itching to catch up with the former ace and his girlfriend— his captain’s baby sister.
all of sejioh remembers the infamous oikawa y/n, the girl who was very off limits but everyone wanted, especially her brother’s teammates. it had been a common locker room joke that she would marry one of them someday, and they would gush about how great of a wife she’d be. iwaizumi would often find himself in a good amount of trouble afterward for getting physical with whoever would bring it up, or take of too far, and you had never loved him more than when you heard all of those stories.
“i just can’t believe that you were her pick.” an old teammate shook his head in disbelief as he downed his wine. “i mean, don’t get me wrong, iwa, i’m not surprised you were in love with her, especially after all of those punches i got back then, but wow. i’m just shocked she chose you and not hanamakki. they were good friends there for a while, y’know?”
you could practically feeling the anger fuming off of your boyfriend as your arms linked with him, his tan skin feeling clammy and heated against yours. his face was slightly red, tinted with light frustration from his old friend’s tipsy ramble. it was his second glass, and he had been talking both of your ears off for an hour now about ‘the good old days’. you wouldn’t have minded if hajime hadn’t felt so stiff and hot with each word the man spoke.
“yeah, well, i guess i was more her type than makki.” he shrugged, trying his best to come off as unbothered. “right, babe?”
you nodded, flashing a tight smile at his forced tone.
the flex of his arm as it suddenly tucked you closer to him caused a wave of need to flash through you, his possessiveness and strength making him even more attractive tonight.
you glanced at his face, but soon regretted it once you found that you couldn’t take your eyes off of him. he was a hunk, his face flushed slightly out of aggravation and lips in a very forced smile, as if he was trying his best not to frown angrily. you’ve always thought his hotheaded nature was attractive but tonight, it had done something entirely different to you.
you didn’t feel the insatiable need to tear his clothes off, or makeout with him in the bathroom until you both got caught— you felt proud.
proud that you had been lucky enough to find someone so obsessed with you that the mention of your ‘choice’ had him fuming and tightly trapping your arm in his.
also, so very proud that he was trying his best to appear far more positive than he actually felt, an accomplishment that he had never been able to achieve. but for you, he did.
and you had never felt so perfect for him than now.
“yep, definitely my type.”

03:14 — all these little things...
IWAIZUMI HAJIME was someone you look up to. He was considerate and knows how to take care of the people around him. Someone that even the teachers can rely on.
He’s an admirable person that you didn't even wonder why he’s always surrounded by people—especially your fellow students.
When you heard that there was an available spot in the volleyball team as a manager, you immediately took off and tried your luck.
But who would've thought that this would take you several hours before actually managing to stand in front of table where the coach and the members were at.
Once you met the gaze of the team's coach, you stood frozen on the spot. You could feel the forming of cold sweat on your forehead, but you tried to remain calm.
“See you tomorrow,” Coach Irihata said before calling the attention of one of the reserve players.
Your body shook before you even managed to respond to what the coach had said.
EVER SINCE THAT DAY, you were able to spend most of your free time with the team. You were there to assist them with menial task, and you were also there to cheer them up after their match with Shiratorizawa.
“We're almost at the end of the line,” Oikawa suddenly said while your friend group was walking you home. “What are your plans?”
“Oi, Oikawa, are you nervous?” Maki joked.
“You're not scared of Ushijima, are you?” Mattsun added while grinning.
“Leave me alone!” Oikawa began before ranting about how much he loathed ‘those geniuses.’
You watched the three of them from behind as they create ruckus in a quiet street. Although it was already nighttime, you weren't that worried to stay behind them.
All thanks to him. Hajime.
“Now that I think about it, have you finally decided the course you'll be taking in college?”
You glanced at him.
“Well, I'm not sure yet,” you responded. “How about you? Will you still be playing in college?”
He looked at you with a smile.
“I think I'm going overseas. I'm not sure though if I'll be playing in a competitive level, but I am sure that I won’t abandon this game.”
“I wonder what would happen to us in the future.” You both look at the three dorks walking ahead of you two. “Especially since that guy who's deadset on following his idol overseas.”
“Hm... I wonder too.”
SEVERAL YEARS LATER, you found yourself in a bar, sitting in a stool while watching the match between Hajime and Oikawa.
As the announcers were introducing the players who might turn the tides during the game, they started to mention some information that touched the sore spots in your team’s heart.
You chuckled while listening to Maki and Yahaba's response.
Who would've thought that Iwaizumi would become the trainer of Japan's National Volleyball Team?
“Ah... you still have that sparkling eyes,” Maki pointed out, making everyone in your group turn to you. “He's been here for awhile now, but you still haven't told him yet?”
“Oh, what's this? Is manager looking at a certain trainer that barely got his own screentime?” Mattsun added with a grin.
“Leave me alone you two.”
You lifted the mug of beer, a poor attempt in hiding your embarrassment.
When did they caught on? You were sure that you were able to hide your feelings towards Hajime for so long. You were keeping yourself in check for years.
So, how...?
“I won't spoil anything, but... I don't think anything could go wrong if you tell him about your feelings.”
You look at Maki who kept his gaze on the screen.
“He's not that dense, you know.”
For some reason, their words started to make sense.
“I-Is that why he's avoiding me?” you asked, looking at Maki, then at Mattsun. “I messed up, didn't I? Oh no...”
Before you know it, you were already on your way back to the hotel where you're staying at with the rest of your friend group.
Maki and Mattsun, feeling guilty and responsible for your drunkenness, decided to stay with you. Making sure that you won't do anything stupid.
“What will I do if Iwaizumi push me away? Should I change everything? My face, my name? But I like my name!”
Unfortunately for them, you were that kind of drunk.
“This is why I told you to stop them from drinking too much.”
You weren't sure if you're tripping, but you could hear his stern voice in your room. You tried to stsy still as you hide underneath the blanket, but Iwaizumi already know where you are.
He also watched you hide underneath the blanket.
“They're a mess when they're this drunk.” Then, you heard him sigh. “Let me get some things. I'll take care of them.”
However, before he could even take a step further, you began to wail.
“Waaaaah! He really hates me now... What should I do? He's leaving me behind...”
You were more than just a mess.
“Hajime don't leave! I don't like you anymore. I... hic... promise...” you shouted while sobbing.
Hajime sighed while shaking his head.
“I'll take care of her,” he told the two before walking towards you.
The mattress near where you were sitting on dipped. With swollen eyes, you looked at him.
“Ha... jime...”
“Silly,” he whispered as he wiped your tear-stained cheeks with his rough fingertips. “I told you to stay sober until after the game, but you didn't listen.”
You look down on your fingers, but Hajime was quick to cup your cheeks and made you meet his gaze.
“You probably don't know how much I like you.”
Your heart flutter.
“From that moment you sheltered those kittens on that rainy afternoon, to the day you started to stay with us through all those ups and downs as our manager...”
Tears began to form in your eyes once again.
“My feelings only grew over the years. Even during those years when I was studying in the US. You were the only one in my heart all these years.”
You started to wipe your own tears, but it seems like your tearducts have no intention of stopping those tears from running down your cheeks.
“I thought I was the only one who felt that way...” you sobbed.
Once again, you heard him chuckled before feeling his warm embrace around you.
“Silly,” he said. “But I love all these little things about you.”

pairing: Iwaizumi Hajime x Reader
a/n: part 2 of 3 of my birthday present for the lovely @tenkoushimura <3 posting this now, so it’ll be up when you wake up :* happy birthday, darling <3
word count: 961
summary: Building a blanket fort and cuddling inside, turns out to be kind of romantic, even between two best friends.
Tumblr media
For quite a while now, you’d been feeling this strong desire to build a blanket fort and allow yourself to get in touch with your childish side. Allow yourself to just hang out and relax. And this obviously you’d been bugging Iwaizumi to build it with you, because who would be better to do it with, than your best friend? Your best friend whom you did have a crush on, but never allowed yourself to act on, because having him as your best friend was already all that you felt like you could wish for.
However at first, he didn’t budge. He simply refused every time you brought it up. But with your birthday coming up, you had a plan. Because how was he going to refuse you when you told him that you wanted to build one as your birthday present? That’s right. He wouldn’t. What you didn’t know though, was that he had his own plans.
“You want to build a blanket fort?” He simply asked you, when he came over to spend the day with you on your birthday. For a moment you just stared at him as your heart did a little flip flop, that he’d decided to give in on his own. Then you nodded at his request.
“Yes, please!”
Building a blanket fort with Iwaizumi was definitely one of the best ways you could’ve spent your birthday, and he also seemed to enjoy himself quite a lot, for someone who’d been holding off for so long. But yet here you were. Huddled together inside of the best blanket fort you’d ever built; complete with fairy lights, pillows and snacks that Iwaizumi had conveniently brought along. Oh and obviously a computer for you to watch a movie on together.
“This actually feels kind of romantic, doesn’t it?” Iwaizumi didn’t even look up from the movie as he spoke, but you could feel your stomach fluttering at his words and your face heat up as you looked over at him.
“I— I guess,” you said, cursing yourself for stuttering. Clearing your throat, you tried again to clarify, hoping not to be found out. “I mean it would be. If, you know, we weren’t just best friends of course.” This made him look up from the movie and turn to face you entirely. He studied your face in the dim lights, and to you it felt like he was looking straight into your head and picking each and every little thread, following them to make a complete picture. Although his gaze was scrutinizing, it was the words he spoke that truly had you reeling.
“Are we really just best friends?”
“Wh—What do you mean?” That cursed stammer that betrayed your rush to search for the right words. betrayed your nerves. Being around Iwaizumi had always been easy, even when you’d realized your crush on him and hid it from him for so long. Being around him was simple and comfortable. Always had been, but something about the atmosphere and the intimacy under the fairy lights, tightly squished together, had turned you into a nervous mess.
“I mean,” he said and leaned in slightly. “That we’re not just friends, and you know it just as well as I. We’re more than that, are we not?” Iwaizumi drew back then. Eyes still searching your face, yet picking up on both the your lips pressed together, the heat of your face and your hands fidgeting with the duvet. “Unless I’ve read it all wrong. I’ve read it all wrong haven’t I? Shit I’m sorry, I’ll—“
“Hajime.” Putting one of your slightly trembling hands on his arm, Iwaizumi stopped mid sentence. “You— you haven’t. I think.”
“You think? What does that mean?” His voice was soft. Hopeful as his gaze fixed on your hand against his skin. The tenderness of his entire presence and the admission of his words gave you courage to speak clearly. Or at least try to.
“I don’t think I actually realized, but…” you swallowed and felt yourself involuntarily squeezing his arm, even searching for his calm influence on you, even at a time like this. “I do like you though. Like… more than a best friend.” You’d finally admitted to your feelings, and despite it all, you still feared to be met with rejection. You didn’t. Instead, Iwaizumi settled down entirely, shifting and opening his arms to pull you in. All the way in and you felt yourself cuddle up against his chest as he urged you even closer if possible by wrapping his arms around you.
“I— I hope you like your present then,” Iwaizumi said against the top of your head.
“I did! Getting to spend time with you and building a fort together was—“
“Oh but that’s not your actual present,” Iwaizumi cut you off, and having known him for so long, you could hear the smile on his lips. You turned your head to look up at him as he opened his mouth to speak again. “This is,” he said as a means of clarification. Then he put a hand on your chin, tilting your head a bit further back, before leaning down to capture your lips with his own. Your lips moved together and you could feel yourself melting into your best friend. Or maybe he’d be something different after today.
“Yeah. I definitely liked my gift,” you said to him when the two of you broke apart for air. Kissing Iwaizumi felt almost dizzying. Intoxicating.
“Then it’s a good thing I’ve got more to spare,” Iwaizumi said with his usual confidence back in place as he pulled you back in for another kiss. For another, more persistent and demanding kiss, that was exactly what you’d imagined kissing him would feel like.

best friend iwaizumi who didn't mind that you followed him around because it was nice to have someone other than his headaches teammates around.
best friend iwaizumi who you quickly warned up to even though his demeanor was cool and collected. you just noticed that he had a resting bitch face and actually is a kind soul.
best friend iwaizumi who got teased by the other third years for having a fangirl of his own now.
best friend iwaizumi smacked all three of them and said that you weren't stupid enoguh to be anyone's fangirl.
best friend iwaizumi who helped you find a secluded area during every volleyball match you went to because oikawa's fangirls scared you and because he didn't want you to get squished.

best friend iwaizumi who realized his feelings for you when you were hanging out at his house and borrowed his volleyball jacket because you were cold. the thing practically drowned you but you looked so darn cute in it.
best friend iwaizumi who didn't say anything about it because he thought you thought of him like a brother.
best friend iwaizumi who was in a sappy mood when he got accepted into a school in california because it was his dream but he didn't want to say bye to you.
best friend iwaizumi who let you cry on his shoulder when he told you the news. he held his own tears back until you left because he felt like he needed to be strong for you.
best friend iwaizumi who told you he was in love with you during graduation.
best friend iwaizumi who finally cried in front of you when you said you loved him back.
best friend iwaizumi who is now boyfriend iwaizumi who had to convince you not to follow him to california because he wanted you to live your own life. no matter though, you guys still called/facetimed as often as you could.

[baby fever - aka 6:36 PM] ft. iwaizumi hajime
wc: 200
ushijima | atsumu | osamu | sakusa | kageyama
Tumblr media
You watch as Miya Atsumu settles into his seat in front of the reporters before setting the little toddler into his lap. She babbles quietly, incoherently as Atsumu answers question after question.
“Yeah,” you hear Atsumu say, “I think the team works really well together because-”
“Wa!” the little girl interrupts.
“Because of our high school rivalries-”
“Wawa-chan!”
You watch Atsumu’s little daughter lock focus on Hajime standing next to you, reaching her stubby arms out to him.
“Wawa-chan!” she repeats.
Atsumu laughs, “she loves Iwaizumi, our athletic trainer.”
You look over at your boyfriend, who’s trying to keep a straight face but also raises a hand to wiggle his fingers at the little Miya, who giggles in return.
“I didn’t know you liked kids,” you whisper at him.
“I don’t,” he says, all the while still making funny hand motions.
“If you like them so much,” you snake your fingers into his large palm. “I could help you out.”
Hajime squeezes your palm in reprimand. “Behave.” He looks over at you out of the corner of his eyes. “Anyway I’d like to get married before that.”
You sigh dramatically, “such a gentleman. You weren’t last night when we were-”
He slips the hand that was holding yours around your waist and gives the fat of your hips a solid squeeze. “Behave.” he whispers against your ear.
“Or I’ll make you later.”

⍣ ೋ the times they cried because of you
Tumblr media
☆ includes ushijima, iwaizumi, atsumu, kageyama, bokuto
Tumblr media
USHIJIMA WAKATOSHI — he never cries. you met this guy when the two of you were young freshman in high-school, and you quickly became a good friend of his. that being said, you never saw him cry. even when the two of you began dating in your senior year, you still never did. years passed, and it was the same as the previous years. sure, he occasionally got upset, but even then, he still put on a stoic display, never really letting you in on that side of him. even at your wedding, he sure showed some emotion but he didn't cry. then came the birth of your first child.
"she's so cute, isn't she 'toshi..?" you said weakly, forehead still damp with sweat, bodu trembling with the aftershocks of your hard, long labor. your eyes fluttered open, focusing on the sight of your dear wakatoshi holding your newborn baby.
your heart fluttered at the soft image of your husband holding the tiny baby closely again his chest, his forehead mere inches away from the baby's forehead. it was barely there, barely noticeable. if it weren't for the reflection of light, then you wouldn't have been able to see the way his eyes were glazed over, corners red, tears brimming at the borderlines of his eyes.
he was so memorized, so in love with this product of you, this product of his and your love. god, you just make him the happiest guy on earth.
with a grunt, he sniffled lightly, trying to mask his emotions. "yeah.."
IWAIZUMI HAJIME — he hates crying. but being the responsible and knowing person he is, he knows that crying is inevitable. but the "strong", reliable guy in him wants to punch himself every-time he feels his eyes sting at the feel of salty tears brimming at his waterline. unbeknownst to you, he would avoid you every-time he felt like he was going to cry, usually hiding in the locked confides of the bathroom. he thought he was hiding it well, until one fateful day where it all came crashing down..
"haji?" you said on the other side of the door. he immediately shot up, his eyes darting to the doorknob. he always made sure to lock it, but today, he was just so exhausted and down that the idea of a lock was forgotten. crap, "hey wait-," before he could even rise up from his slouched kneeling position on the bathtub's side, you opened the door unknowingly. "i just need my–hajime?"
there he was, in all of his fucking glory, hunched over, his face long and clearly expressing his hurt feelings. his heart fell to his stomach, his vision going cloudy as his day just kept getting worse. "hajime?" you called out once more, only your tone had softened, more light and tender. you reached a hand out to him, eyes full of concern. he couldn't help but jolt away from your hand, eyebrows furrowing at your softness.
he didn't like your tone. why are you looking at him like that? like some sad kicked puppy lost in the middle of nowhere? it made him feel so small, so weak. "haji.. are you okay?" you whispered, crouching down to his level outside of the bathtub. you attempted yet again to touch the side of his face, lightly pressing your fingertips against his cheekbone before fully pressing your palm against the side of his face.
his lips trembled as he was just a second away from breaking down, his eyes locked on a single object as to hold on to the last of his will. you sighed softly at his resistance, of course he wouldn't want to cry in front of you, but you don't understand why, afterall, what makes a person weak for crying? "it's okay, hajime."
with that, fat tears finally ran down his cheeks, his eyes shutting close as he finally broke at your words. he could only grab onto your hand as you climbed into the tub, his head going straight into your chest as he sobbed and wailed.
MIYA ATSUMU — surprisingly, you've seen this guy cry many of times before. he cried when getting accepted into nationals, winning nationals, just crying at things any normal person would do. but he never cried for you. no, he held himself to higher standards. he'd never cry for someone, not even for you. yeah, he loved you, but he wasn't about to cry for someone like a little child. all high and mighty, he never thought you would actually have an affect on him like you do now. him being someone who wears his heart proudly on his sleeve, he found himself getting into an argument late at night with you, too prideful to back down.
"are you serious atsumu?! you know i'd never do that!" you yelled, voice hoarse and scratchy due to the ongoing screaming match between you and your boyfriend. "oh really?! then why were ya' 'll over that fucker earlier? huh?!" he yelled back, pointing out the way you were seemingly flirting with a guy at the club earlier.
but you weren't? you would never do that, you're not a scum. "what?! we were just talking?! am i not allowed to TALK to people atsumu?" you scoffed, arms crossing defensively. "if you wanna consider talking as flirting, then let's talk about that girl you were laughing with the other day? huh? let's talk about that!"
his eyebrow raised at your counter, fumbling nervously as he wondered what to say. "w-wh- you know what?! fuck you! i don't know why i'm even dating a bitch like you!" he said, almost immediately regretting his words when he saw the way your eye's widened at his harsh words. the apartment was finally silent as you registered his words, he wishes you had any sort of expression on your face, but you had nothing but a stoic and emotionless face.
"okay then," you finally said, arching your eyebrow in a taunting way, resting your hand down on your hip. "bye." you followed, grabbing your bag and your keys, turning your back on him.
he watched, frozen in his spot as you exited out the apartment with your composure. his body jolted when he heard the slam of the front door, finally letting out that breath he was unknowingly holding. he scoffed at what you said, clenching his jaw tightly as he tried to hold onto his pride. "damn it." he said.
he felt the tear roll down his cheek before he could even register that he was crying. "..damn it!"
KAGEYAMA TOBIO — to him, life is volleyball. his childhood consisted nothing of volleyball, and so will his adulthood. maybe his obsession with volleyball was a little extreme, but you never really minded. he respected you greatly for your patience, he wasn't dumb, he knew that his priority of volleyball was evident, so he always tried to make it up to you by spending time with you whenever you wanted. but it seemed like after awhile, he began to take your patience for granted. it wasn't until the nth time when he didn't show up for the nth date was when he realized.
kageyama was careful to shut the front door as quiet as he could, tiptoeing as he took off his shoes and walked throughout the dark hallways and into the master-bedroom. he jolted like a cat when he sat you sitting up on the side of the bed, back facing the doorway.
"y-you scared me. what are you doing up at this time? it's nearly 10PM." he stuttered obliviously. it was silent for a few seconds before you sighed, slowly turning your head to face him. "you forgot." you muttered before turning back to look at the wall. forgot? forgot what? it was then he noticed the way your hair was done, still clad in a pretty dress.
"o-oh.. the date! i-i'm sorry y/n, i promise i can make it up to you"— "don't bother." you interrupted, voice stern yet monotonous. what do you mean 'don't bother?' you love going on dates don't you? his lips pursed into a straight line, chewing on his bottom lips nervously. "w-what do you mean? i really promise, this thursday i have a free day.." he trailed off when you suddenly stood up from the bed.
"i mean that i think we should break up." his heart dropped at your words, eyes widening. break up? his mouth was agape, mind spinning with different solutions and apologies. before he could detest, you walked over to the corner of the room, pulling up a suitcase that he didn't even notice.
"b-but why? you said yourself that me and you are meant to be together?" he cried out, quickly rushing over to your side and grabbing onto your wrist. he watched your face closely, eyes taking note of every single feature of yours. you inhaled deeply, still refusing to look at him.
"i said that when we were in high-school and didn't have any major responsibilities. things have changed, we aren't in high-school any more. you're now a pro-volleyball player with big responsibilities, and i'm.. someone who clearly has too much time on their hands, wasting it on someone who can't give me any of theirs. it's not your fault, kageyama, but we just don't align anymore."
you finally said, tugging your hand away from his grasp. before you could take a step, his hands were once again on you, gripped onto your shoulders, forcing you to look at him. "but.. you said you would be there for my game at nationals.." he whimpered out, tears threatening to spill from his eyes.
it was then, when you were finally walking out of his apartment, out of his life, was when he finally did realize, that maybe, he did take your patience for granted..
BOKUTO KOUTARO — this guy cries a lot. he's cried so many times you might have to start writing it down somewhere. he rarely masks his emotions, he's an open book. thats what you love so much about him, that he's so open and honest. you love the way he's so eager and sweet, you love the way he's always willing to talk to you and so damn clingy it's like you have your own personal koala. aside from the times he's happy, he's sad, sad because he didn't perform well, or because you didn't kiss him. but you never really made him cry, you'd never do that. or so you thought.
"y/n!! i missed you!" you hear a booming voice yell, his footsteps speeding up at the sight you. he paid no mind when you didn't respond to him, as you were currently hunched over the your work desk, laptop gleaming at you brightly. your back was turned to him, so you were basically calling him for a back hug.
"y/n!" — "not now koutaro." you interrupted, tone serious and stern. he raised his eyebrows at you with surprise, his arms a few inches away from your shoulders as they stilled in their preparation to hug you. "babe? is something wrong?" he asked curiously, lips pouting at your stern denial. you never decline a hug. you love them. right?
"i'm working. can't you see that?" you spit out, sighing deeply. you pull away your cramping fingers away from your keyboard, rubbing them over your sore eyes. "my gosh." you mumble under your breath, eyebrows intensely furrowed with stress. you had been working for a few hours straight, staring at nothing but a bright screen with words that were becoming incoherent to you.
you yelp out when you're suddenly pulled from your chair, being lifted up into bokuto's strong arms as he spins you around. "don't be so sad!" he says cheerfully, hoping to cheer you up with a big warm hug. only— this seems to make you mad. "put me down, koutaro!" you yell, pushing his chest away and forcing him to practically drop you.
"don't you see i'm working?! why are you so damn clingy? you're so annoying, god, why don't you just leave me alone?" you spit out. your words are like venom, stinging his heart greatly as his hair is quickly deflating once your words reach his ears. you simply return to your laptop once you've finished, typing mindlessly once more.
him? annoying? he didn't mean to annoy you..
he couldn't help but softly whimper, left standing in shock. he opened his mouth to say something before your previous words were reminding him to stay silent—leave me alone. he clutched his palms, looking at your turned back with teary eyes. he hopes you don't find him annoying for long..

You liked to think you weren’t one to fall into stereotypes. But every once in a while you did something that reminded you that you weren’t different from everyone around you. Like right now, standing hidden behind the corner of this building, clutching an obvious red envelope in your hands, waiting for the volleyball team to shuffle out of their club room so you could sneak in and slip the envelope into a certain boy’s locker.
So you had a tiny little crush on everyone’s favorite boy, Oikawa Tooru. Sue you.
Your ears were on high alert, staying as still as possible so you could focus on the voices drifting out of the room. You were a bit farther away, since you wanted to be hidden, but if you strained yourself enough, you could make out the sounds. You tried not to make yourself tense, afraid you would wrinkle the envelope. You had been so careful with it. Making sure you didn’t smudge any words as you wrote, perfuming the paper afterward. You even used that expensive wax and seal that you bought only for journaling purposes. You wanted it to be known that you made an effort.
All for him.
It was hard not to fall for someone as charming as Oikawa. He was tall and handsome, he was always so nice, always welcoming to anyone who wanted to speak to him. He was beyond talented. You could watch him play for hours. You did watch him play for hours. At the end of the day, you were just like all the other giggling, blushing girls who admired him.
The only difference is that you had never gone farther than admiration until now. You had never spoken to him, never greeted him in the hallways, never made him anything to eat like girls often did. You had watched from afar and basked in the warm, bubbly feeling that comes with having crushes.
But now here you were, slipping him a letter with all your feelings written on it. You were going into this not expecting him to accept the confession. You hadn’t even put your name on it. It was anonymous. God knows how many of these he got on a daily basis. And with Valentine’s Day approaching, you were sure his locker was overflowing. What was one more, right? You were doing this for yourself more than anything else. You needed to get these feelings out because they were overflowing in your head.
You were shaken from your thoughts when you realized the locker room was completely silent by now. You listened closely, giving it another few minutes. No shuffling, no humming, not even a peep. The coast was clear.
You could feel your entire body shake as you turned the corner and stealthily hurried to the club room door. You couldn’t let anyone see you going inside, so you quickly opened the door, slipping in and sliding the door shut behind you. You let out a sigh of relief.
Then you turned around, and your eyes met wide chestnut ones.
Oikawa was standing next to an open locker, a half folded shirt in his hand. He had probably been mid fold when you had barged in, staring at you with those big browns, mouth slightly open. Thick silence stretched over you both as you stood frozen, not even blinking.
Oikawa’s eyes drifted down to your hand, the very obvious, deep red envelope. His lips twitched before a smile took over them.
“Hello there.” His voice was lively. “Is that for me?”
You tensed at the sound of his voice, your panic finally catching up to your brain as you gulped around the knot in your throat. “No!”
He raised an eyebrow at that, tilting his head a bit. A lock of his hair fell over his forehead. “No?”
“No.”
Another silence, awkward as anything. You couldn’t move at all. You felt like you were frozen in place. Every muscle in your body was pulled tight. You had never anticipated that of all the people who could catch you in the locker room, it would be Oikawa himself.
“So who’s it for?” He then asked, eyes darting between your face and the envelope. You felt your face burn, heating up so much it made you dizzy.
“It’s-” Your mouth was so dry. You had no saliva. None. Not a drop. It felt like you were incomprehensible. Could you even speak? Or was it all gibberish? Were you spiraling now?
Oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god-
“It’s for Iwaizumi-san.”
Oikawa blinked at that, and you realized you had caught him off guard. Well, he wasn’t the only one. You had caught yourself off guard too. It seemed that, in the midst of your panic and staring at Oikawa, the only other person you could name was Iwaizumi.
Iwaizumi Hajime. Oikawa’s best friend. Seijoh’s ace. Someone you saw just as much as Oikawa considering they were attached at the hip. No wonder when you had to think of someone, you thought of him.
“Well now I’m truly shocked!” Oikawa sounded jovial, placing a hand on his hip, his half folded shirt crumpled in his other hand. “A confession for Iwa-chan? I never thought this day would come!”
Your mind raced and you tried to scramble your thoughts together into somewhat understandable sentences. But you had just dug this fresh hole for yourself and you didn’t know what to do to get out of it. In fact, at this moment, there was no getting out of it. You had to go along.
“Y-yes.” You managed to blurt out, not knowing what else to say, looking anywhere but at him, who was steadily growing more and more amused by the second.
“You have to give it to him!”
Your head snapped up, and that’s when you realised what true panic was. What you had felt so far was nothing compared to the shitstorm your brain was experiencing after what he had just said.
“Come on.” Oikawa threw the shirt carelessly into his locker, slamming it shut and fast walking to you. With one grip on your forearm, he tugged open the club room door and proceeded to speed out of it, dragging you with him.
“W-wait!” Your voice trembled, and you doubt he even heard you. You felt like your whole mouth was stuffed with cotton. You tried to lock your legs into place and break Oikawa’s momentum. It was not happening. He was way stronger than you. You tried to pry his hand off your arm, but his grip was vice-like.
“Oikawa-san!” You basically shrieked like a hyena, finally breaking through right outside the Seijoh gym. You snatched your hand away.
“I can’t!”
Oikawa stared down at you, blinking owlishly. You bit your lip.
“Oh.” He breathed, and you saw realization wash over his face. You froze. Had he figured it out?
“I get it.” Did he?
Then he promptly turned around and cupped his mouth with his hands, leaning in through the open gym doors.
“Iwa-chan!” He shouted.
You gaped at him, struggling to even comprehend what was going on in his head. But that was the least of your worries, because trudging footsteps sounded and then the boy in question was standing in the gym entrance, scowling down at his friend.
Oh no. Oh, this is bad. This is so bad, I’m so screwed-
“Look!” Oikawa pointed at you, or more accurately, he pointed at the envelope in your hand. Iwaizumi followed his gaze, and you saw his scowl drop as shock colored his features.
“It’s for you! Can you believe it?” Oikawa let out a cackle, leaning an arm against the gym door. You wanted nothing more than for the ground to open up and swallow you whole.
Iwaizumi looked genuinely incredulous, like this was something he hadn’t dreamt of in his wildest dreams. Later when you looked back on what happened, you would be surprised that despite being friends with the most popular guy on campus, Iwaizumi did not get much attention. He lived in Oikawa’s shadow, and he liked it that way.
Right now, his feelings were the least of your concerns though.
Finally free from Oikawa’s grasp, you lunged forward, slamming the envelope against his chest before turning on your heel and absolutely booking it. There was no other option. You couldn’t give that shit to Iwaizumi. You also couldn’t give it to Oikawa and say you had lied. It couldn’t get any more humiliating than it already was, so you might as well run away.
Very active fight or flight response, one might say.
Oikawa watched your back as you ran full speed, one hand holding the envelope he was so unceremoniously handed. He turned his attention down to it when the flowery scent hit his nose, and he couldn’t help but smile.
“Aw, she perfumed it too! How romantic.”
He grinned up at Iwaizumi, whose ears had turned red. Iwaizumi’s scowl deepened as he stared at the shiteating grin on Oikawa’s face. But he didn’t stop himself from taking the envelope Oikawa handed to him, his heart doing jumping jacks in his chest.
………………..
When you tried to convince your mom that you didn’t really need high school when homeschooling was a perfectly viable option, she told you to suck it up and there was no way you were dropping out. You didn’t know how to tell her that your life in high school was pretty much over. How could you show your face in any place where you might run into Oikawa or Iwaizumi?
But alas, you could only take one sick day before throwing yourself back to the wolves.
You were jumpy the whole day, paranoid that somehow everyone knew what had happened two days ago. But your day went by as normal, unaffected by the storm in your head. You should’ve known your peace wouldn’t last. At lunchtime, the one person you had been dreading the most was standing before your desk, looking down at you expectantly.
“I was hoping we could talk.”
Well. This was it. The one thing you were hoping and praying you could somehow avoid.
Iwaizumi led you outside for some privacy, finding an empty bench overlooking the school’s running track. You sat stiffly by his side, waiting for him to speak.
“I read the letter.”
You closed your eyes and nodded, coaxing him to continue. You knew the contents of the letter. You had mulled them over in your head ten thousand times yesterday. You had not written Oikawa’s name. You had talked only about how you felt about him and the thoughts plaguing your head. You knew how easily Iwaizumi could have thought it was about him and not Oikawa.
“I’m sorry.” You blurted out.
“For the confession?”
You hesitated. “For how it all played out.”
That was vague enough.
Iwaizumi let out a breathy chuckle, and you looked up at him. “I think I should apologize instead. Oikawa can be a bit of an insensitive jerk.”
You felt your lips twitch into a smile, shrugging. “He kinda steamrolled all over me.”
Iwaizumi groaned, running a hand through his spiky hair. You followed the movement with your eyes, gaze pausing on how his bicep flexed. Something in your heart stuttered.
Up close, he was extremely attractive. His skin was smooth and clean, and his hair looked soft despite being so short. His jaw was defined and his eyes were striking. When he looked at you for longer than a beat, it made your insides squirm.
“I’m sorry about him. He told me he found you in the club room. I’m sure you wanted to do it anonymously. He shouldn’t have dragged you here. That wasn’t cool.”
You smiled at how considerate he was being. “It- It’s okay.”
“And I’ll make him apologize to you too. Promise.”
His lip ticked up in a crooked smile. You couldn’t help but stare. You watched him grow a bit nervous, rubbing the back of his neck. A little habit?
“I was wondering if you would like to have dinner with me sometime?”
The question caught you off guard. You knew how Iwaizumi perceived you after the contents of that confession. You had just not anticipated that he would want anything to do with you. In your slurry of thoughts, you realized you had still not told him that the confession wasn’t for him. You stared at him, wide-eyed.
The sun beat down on your heads, casting harsh shadows on his face. High cheekbones. Strong jaw. And those same captivating eyes. You couldn’t remember ever appreciating him the way you were right now. Oikawa’s light was so bright it made Iwaizumi almost invisible. But here and now, it was just him. No distractions, no takeaways. Just Iwaizumi in all his glory. And it was making your heart skip.
“Okay.” You breathed.
Iwaizumi positively lit up at your words, straightening his back. His features smoothed, his eyes widened and a smile took over his face.
“Cool!” He blurted out, before clearing his throat. “That’s uh, I mean. Great. That’s great.”
You giggled as he stumbled over his words, endeared by his reaction. Your heart and mind both told you this was the right decision. With Oikawa, it was a puppy crush. With Iwaizumi, something told you it could be so much more.
Years later, when you told Iwaizumi about the exact intentions of that letter, and how you were beyond grateful you hadn’t given it to Oikawa, all he did was cackle while the Argentinian setter whined about how he had missed his chance.
He was joking, of course. He was the proudest best man ever at your wedding. He wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Can I have a taste of yours?”
Pausing his walking through the loud streets downtown, Iwaizumi chuckles as your fingers gently tug the hem of his shirt, the slush in his paper cup slowly turning into juice the longer it lingers in the summer heat. He looks down at the blue raspberry treat before back at you, a small ring of pink settled on your lips and staining your tongue.
He told you that you should just get blue raspberry. You told him to shut up.
“I vividly remember saying that we should get a large and share,” he says, tossing an arm over your shoulders and keeping the cup in his free hand. “But nooo, you wanted strawberry.”
“I’ll give you some of mine if you give me some of yours,” you negotiate with a smile, and he snorts softly before shaking his head.
“I don’t need some of yours, I have my favorite flavor here.”
“Our favorite,” you coo, and he scoffs playfully. Your fingers move from his tank top to link with the fingers that are draped over your shoulder, and he squeezes them happily.
“I feel like this is a damn trap,” He says, and you snicker. “Is this your silly ass way of asking me to switch?”
“When have I ever done that-“
“I will pull out the receipts, don’t even start.” You laugh at his threat, rather than try to deny it further, because there’s a very clear video on Hajime’s phone if you, using your puppy eyes to switch meals with Matsukawa of all people, during his last visit, and he obliged with a sigh and a shake of his head.
Truly got everyone wrapped around that little damn finger.
“Haji,” you giggle, and he quirks a brow and tips his head back down to you. “Your lips- they’re blue.”
He goes cross eyed for a moment, as if to try and see the tint of blue, before letting his tongue hang out of his mouth where he finally does see the dark blue stain on his tastebuds. You laugh at the sight as he pulls his tongue back in, now smiling down at you.
“Yeah? Well your tongue’s all red.”
You mimic his actions with your own tongue, smiling at the red, almost pink stain that litters your own tongue.
“We could make purple?” You offer, wiggling your eyebrows and making him roll his dark eyes.
“There’s kids here.”
“So?”
You clearly don’t care that you’re in public, and admittedly, he doesn’t either. And there’s something about the way youre cheekily looking up at him, a bite of your lip and a ‘come get me’ bat of your eyes that do, inevitably, have him leaning forwards to encase you in a kiss. Your arms toss around his neck and keep him as close as you can get him, and he grunts in approval for the simple little control. At first, he keeps the cold cup away from your hip, but he knows you love to be held, and he’d be a dirty liar if he said the way you’d shiver against him wouldn’t be exhilarating.
His chilled hand and cup comes down to settle against you, and the little gasp you pant forces him to growl hungrily and tug you closer.
You taste like strawberries, familiar and sweet with just a hint of sugar, your lips are cold but your mouth is warm, and it has his head spinning every which way because it’s you.
There isn’t a time when kissing you doesn’t do that to him.
With a whine as he slowly pulls away, you chase his lips with tiny little pecks and bites of his lip, trying desperately to keep the moment and affection going.
“Any luck?” You whisper, doey eyes looking up at him as you pant needily. Dark eyes flick to your lips, and even though there’s a small tinge of blue to your lips, he doesn’t acknowledge it.
“Nah,” he says softly. Then, he gives you a grin and rests his forehead against yours.
“Maybe we gotta try harder.”

cw: a lot of discussion of suggestive / nsfw topics, no actual nsfw, nonsense
related to this but can be read standalone
Hajime thinks he’s getting the hang of this.
Yeah, you’re annoying, much touchier than usual, wearing clothing entirely unsuitable for early November, trying to get him to snap, but it’s been manageable. Only a couple of times he’s had to rip himself away from you before things went any further than he trusted himself to go.
He’s rediscovered the simple pleasure of making out like teenagers, keeping all your clothes on and varying your paces. Just spending hours breathing each other in and kissing slow.
He might even—might—add that there seems to be a kind of emotional benefit to this weird mandated sex break. It lets the both of you talk about your desires with literally no expectation and a lighthearted, joking air that eases Hajime’s intense inclinations exponentially. It’s not something that either of you would ever want to do any longer than you have to or even next year (you’ve been very clear that you see it as some sort of strange extended foreplay, on your end), but its been… better than he’d thought, in some ways.
In some ways it was still hell.
Still, as the days pass and he doesn’t die of blue balls, he starts to figure that this whole challenge might be really doable.
Hajime lies in bed with you, eyes half-shut as the both of you wind down for the evening with your new routine.
Your lips are soft against his, his left hand cupping the back of your neck, the other rubbing slow, light circles into your back. It’s gentle, sweet kissing, not the frantic and heated interaction of more carnal relations. It makes Hajime feel—
His fingertips are buzzing where they touch you, strings playing in his head, his head fuzzy with your scent. Content, like he could stay here forever.
You push yourself up on your elbows suddenly, smoothly, and settle your weight more heavily on his stomach, your knees squeezing his sides. Your pupils are dilated but your gaze is tender, and he can almost feel rose-colored glasses sliding over his face as he stares up at you.
“I’m in love with you,” you say, voice low and throaty from long minutes spent exploring his mouth slowly, excruciatingly so, like you hadn’t since the first months you’d been dating.
Hajime moans.
Loudly and unmistakably and completely involuntarily.
He sits up immediately, pitching you off of him as you collapse in a heap of giggles. His face is burning, he can feel it, but your laughter is surrounding him like a too-deep featherbed.
“I think,” you can hardly breathe, let alone speak through your mirth. He’d throttle you but that would only make things worse right now. “I think you just failed No Nut November.”

𝓗𝓪𝓲𝓴𝔂𝓾𝓾 𝓫𝓸𝔂𝓼 𝓶𝓮𝓮𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓪 𝓹𝓲𝓬𝓴-𝓶𝓮 𝓰𝓲𝓻𝓵 - Part 2
Feat. Aoba Johsai & Fukurodani
Premise: You had to do something else for a week and a half, leaving the boys alone for that period. Although they told the coaches that they could survive without you, the coaches ask a girl to help them out instead. They weren’t particularly excited, which got worse the more they spent time with her
Aoba Johsai
Since Seijoh’s volleyball club was very popular among the students, the coach had no problems in looking for someone to be there while you weren’t
In fact, the coach found two, mostly because there were a lot of duties during that week
Unnecessary in the eyes of the team, they were fine before you, they don’t need two of them now
Not even a day passed when the team were dreading this decision; not only they were Oikawa fans to begin with, but they were also annoying
Even Oikawa couldn’t find joy in this situation
The normally heartthrob of the team, the one that adores receiving attention, couldn’t stand them, missing your *playful* punches and scoldings
You luckily were able to hang out with them after their Sunday practice, when it had become a tradition to go to the nearest shopping mall to eat a meal as a team
So to surprise them, you went there without them, planning to raid their table
When you saw them walking into the food court you couldn’t help but giggle, one girl was holding the arm of a very disgusted Oikawa, while the other was clearly acting like a dude alongside an annoyed Iwaizumi, everyone else ignoring them
You started looking at the menus, deciding what to eat, ordering a burger and some fries
“Wow, you’re eating…that? Someone is not thinking about hot girls summer” you hear from your left, one of the girls looking at you as if you were committing a sin
“yeah I don’t care”
“That’s all you’re getting? I could not eat only that, I’m ordering like 6 burgers” another voice comes from your other side, the other girl was there too
“…ok” you say, starting to understand why the team was so fed up with them. The team looks mean, but they were never unnecessary rude
“can I have a salad? I wish I could eat..that, but I’m too worried about how I look, you know” the girl in your left says
“I just got done playing volleyball with the team, so I need like…6.000.000 calories, imagine only eating a salad” the other says, making you sigh
“I love your make up, by the way! It’s so…natural, I wish I had the confidence to not care about how I look on public, good for you!” the girl says with a sarcastic tone
“imagine even wearing make up every day and trying that hard, like I just roll out of bed an-”
“I don’t care about any of your thoughts, so shut up please” you say annoyed, you didn’t know if you were annoyed, uncomfortable or straight up angry, but before you could add anything else an arm wraps your shoulder
“Yn-chaan!” Oikawa squishes you
“Yn-san, you’re here!” Kindaichi exclaims, relief appearing on his face. Kunimi gets slightly closer to you, a move that means that he wants some type of affection, so you pat his head
“Y-you know her?” the princess type of girl asks, eyes wide
“She is our dear manager” Matsukawa adds, Hanamaki nodding with a smirk that only grew bigger when the girl shrieks
“H-her?! But she looks so weak! And I bet she doesn’t know shit about sports! Like.. she’s a girl!” the ‘tomboy’ girl says now
“don’t get too comfortable now, you were just a substitute for her, not the other way around. She is the best manager we could ever ask for” Oikawa says mockingly, hugging you tighter
“b-b-but…”
“you can leave now, we have our manager back, we don’t need you two here anymore” Iwaizumi ends the conversation, taking your tray with food as they all take you to the table
“I still have a few days that I can’t be there” you tell them once you were sitting
“we’ll manage” Iwaizumi says
“What Yn-chaan? Are you sure you aren’t missing this handsome face of mi-ouch!” Oikawa tries to say, but you punch him making the team laugh
You were at peace again
Fukurodani
Despite having another managers in their rooster, the coach decided to ask the manager of other team to help them out
After all the team is big, so another hand wouldn’t be bad
The team was nice, so they did try their best to make her feel welcome eve if it was for a week and a half
But she was making things hard
Washio tried to be a gentleman, but he ended up not interacting much with her
Konoha, in the other hand, was sarcastic, but she was either too dense or too delusional to realize
Akaashi tried to be understanding, but even he was starting to get tired of it
And Bokuto, even with his loud and extroverted personality, ended up just trying to avoid her
When you came back, you had the *amazing* opportunity to meet her first hand, right after entering the gym
What the guys have told you wasn’t particularly encouraging, yet you still wanted to give her a fair shot
“Why are you looking at me? It’s just a knee brace, you never seen something like this?” she tells you, before you could even say hi
“well, hi, nice to meet you too”
“So…you are the manager? The one that I’m replacing? Well, of course you don’t know what this is, since you don’t play any sports”
“well, before I kinda did some cheerleading, but it wasn't for me so I joined this idiots and…”
“exactly! Cheerleading isn’t a sport! Gosh, how are you even the manager of this team”
“Yn!!” Bokuto enters the gym, hugging you tightly as he spins around. Akaashi was behind, who gives you a smile
“If you were wondering! I got injured by playing football…and then basketball and then volleyball with the boys, remember that Bokuto?!”
“eh..nope” bokuto answers confused
“Well me neither”
“anyways! I’m back on the team, so thank you for…well, being here. I’ll take care of it from here on out…unless the guys want you to stay..?” you say
“NO!” a collective answer came in, way too quickly. You resisted a laugh
“well, that settles it, good luck with your knee brace” you push her out softly, a grunt coming from her
“Thank god you’re back Yn-chan” Akaashi tells you, the team patting your head lovingly
“we should celebrate! After practice lets go to eat!” Bokuto adds
“okay! Bokuto is paying!” Konoha says, going to the court to start practicing
You see bokuto whine as he goes too, everyone joining while making fun of the owl boy.

02:12 a.m. — some things never age well...
warning/s: brain fart + fart joke
IWAIZUMI HAJIME began to question his life as soon as he obliged to your request. You played a video from his phone, one where the dad massages the baby's stomach in an attempt to let the gas out. You played the said video for several times, until your stomach began to hurt itself.
He sighed as he look at your exposed abdomen before meeting your anticipating eyes. Hajime accepted all of your weirdness, embraced it even! But this case is a bit different.
“I will only do this once!” he remarked making you nod with eagerness. “You're lucky I love you.”
You grinned before pursing your lips. “I love you too.”
He kissed your lips before starting to massage your stomach. He mimicked how the dad in the video do it.
“It's like kneading a dough.”
“Hey!” you shouted before giggling. “Your hands are warm...”
Hajime grinned before patting your stomach. “Focus, silly.”
He pushed your legs upwards multiple times, but to no avail, your stomach remains gassy.
“Bicycle, bicycle, bicycle,” he, once again, mimicked the dad in the video before pushing your legs up.
As your thighs pressed against your abdomen, a crisp sound almost echoed the room as you ripped the loudest fart you've heard from yourself.
Hajime let your legs go before falling on top of you.
“I'm dead.”
You laughed while trying to push his heavy weight from your body. But he stayed still before peppering kisses on your shoulders, chest, and face.
“I love you... you know that, right?”
You grinned before kissing his lips. As soon as he pulled away, you look at him and smiled once again.
“And I love you too.”

WHEN YOUR CO-WORKER CALLS HIMSELF YOUR “WORK HUSBAND”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
synopsis: how he reacts to your co-worker calling himself your “work husband”
featuring: miya atsumu, oikawa tooru, & iwaizumi hajime. fem!reader.
content warning(s): jealousy, possessive boys, weird co-worker, suggestive at iwa’s part 😵 sorry my hands slipped lmao. also grammar mistakes … have mercy i wrote this kinda half asleep + use of wife
naia’s footnote: yk that work wife thing? yeah, that but with a twist with the hq men 🤭 jealous scenarios are my guilty pleasure LOL i wrote this when i was supposed to be doing smth actually productive 😓‼️also i got carried away w atsumu’s haha
REQUESTS ARE OPEN! rb’s & likes are appreciated
Tumblr media Tumblr media
#01 — WHEN COMING AS YOUR PLUS ONE IN YOUR OFFICE’S FANCY EVENT, MIYA ATSUMU didn’t want to admit it but he kind of expected to be fawned over by your female colleagues — not that he wanted them to! It’s just … expected, seeing how absolutely hot your husband is (the expensive suit and tie and all). What he did not expect was being introduced to your … what was it? Ahh, yes, “work husband”.
The absolute audacity and sheer nerve of this bastard to call himself that in front of him, the actual husband on the documents and in your heart.
Work husband. He scoffs silently, face scrunching up in irritation, poking his cheeks with his tongue instead of making a fuss in this exclusive event where lots of important people are present. As much as he cares for obliterating this man in front of him, he cares more about you and didn’t want to cause you any issues with your workplace.
(Though, if this ugly scrub touches your arm again and joke about Atsumu being the side chick, he wasn’t so sure that he wouldn’t cause a scene.)
Besides, the 24 karat gold necklace hanging around your neck with his initials attached to the chains and the elegant ring on your finger makes it painfully clear that your self-proclaimed work husband has no chance against the Miya Atsumu.
BONUS:
Atsumu may have acted mature about the situation while in the event, but behind closed doors he was whining and grumbling about that annoyin’ scrub.
“— like I still can’t believe he had the guts to say that in front of me!” He scoffs, face scrunching up again, his mouth forming a scowl. “Work husband… tsk, i’m yer only husband! hell, i’ll be yer work husband, house husband, and every other fuckin’ husband title there is!”
Instead of informing your husband that it doesn’t work like that, you nod to every word he said every time he looks at your eyes to back him up on his rant.
“Yes baby, I know. Now why don’t we get you a trophy with all those husband titles, hm?” You jokingly offered, patting his fluffy blonde hair.
Next week a package arrived carrying a shiny gold trophy with the words “Miya Y/n’s only house husband, work husband, and everything else in between” customized on the front <3
Tumblr media
#02 — OIKAWA TOORU SCOFFED AFTER SOME IRRELEVANT, MEDIOCRE, UGLY MAN introduced himself as your “work husband”, somewhat offended because someone dared crown themselves a self-proclaimed title as your work husband — like that bastard is even worthy enough to be breathing the same air as you!
He recognizes this man to be the man you ranted to him about that was inappropriately acting like he’s close with you and many other women of your office.
Wanting to do you and the other women of your office a favor, he decided to humble him.
“Last time I checked, there was no side piece. And if there were to be a side piece — which will never happen by the way! — my wife would pick someone better looking than you. As you can see she has great taste, since she married me and only me. But you should know that by now, hm? Our wedding was even on the news!” showing the ring on his finger, wiggling it even to show emphasis, his tone and his (threatening) smile was friendly, but you all know that it was anything but that.
Oikawa Tooru is an intimidating opponent, both in and out of the court.
Tumblr media
#03 — NEVER IN HIS 25 YEARS OF LIVING HAS IWAIZUMI HAJIME met a more annoying and repulsive person such as the man in front of him that cockily and casually called himself as your “work husband”.
You felt his beefy arms tighten around your waist, he leans in to you closely, his hot breath heating up your ears as he asked you with low voice, however still (purposely) loud enough for the guy in front of you two to hear. “Baby, do you even know him?”
You nodded, “He’s just some guy in the finance department who’s really weird, Hajime. I don’t even remember his name. Sato? Aoki?”
The man before you deflated, his cocky stance nowhere to be seen as he scoffs defensively, “It’s Nakamura —”
“— Yeah, sure, well my wife and I have somewhere else to be now. So goodbye Ishikawa-san.” He purposely used a different name — politely even, to mock him and push his buttons.
“It’s Nakamu —”
“Bye Sato-kun!” You played along with your husband’s petty antics, waving him off before locking your arms around Hajime’s before snuggling close to him as you two walked away. The both of you bursting out laughing once you guys think the guy was far away enough to not hear you two.
“Have you seen his face! He deserved that humbling experience!” You snorted, Hajime rolling his eyes as he remembers the guy.
“Okay but who even is he really? Is he always so flirtatious with you? What even is a work husband? Last time I checked, I’m the one who gave you that new last name of yours.” He grumbled, irritated at the thought of that bastard flirting with you at work when your husband wasn’t there.
“Aw, babe, you know that you’re the only one for me.” you patted his cheeks affectionately, smiling at him while giggling.
He does. He knows it, a bit too well at times. So he sighs and he lets it go. Because he knows that at the end of the day, he’s the one you come home to, he’s the one you cling onto while watching your favorite shows, he’s the one that rests his free hand on your thighs whenever you two go for a drive.
And tonight, he’s the one that will lay you down on the bed and touch you, talk to you, and feel you in ways that only he can do.
