Tsukishima Kei believes subtle actions speak louder than words ⎯ especially in relationships.
To anyone Kei would seem aloof and cold, but you know that he cares from his little gestures. The way he gently squeezes your hand to reassure you, letting you rest your head on his shoulder, that little relieved smile that makes way on his face when you drop by during his practice sometimes. Him mindlessly massaging your calves ⎯ your legs sprawled over his as he lets you watch whatever sappy romance you want watch when you whine about your day being so bad.
Tsukishima who freezes when you move closer on the couch and peck his cheek during the movie. His surprise slowly dissolves on his face, making way for a soft smirk as he turns his head and looks at you.
"Was that necessary?" he asks, his words almost accusatory, but his tone and expression is relaxed.
"Nope, but I'm trying to get you used to affection." you say softly.
He snorts at your words, “So, you’re planning to slowly brainwash me to become the ideal boyfriend? Or what?"
"I am trying to brainwash you into being utterly in love with me, the ideal girlfriend." you chuckle, rotating your pointer finger in front of his face. "Wish Woosh, Hocus Pocus. Tsukishima Kei will love me forever."
Although he tries keeps up his serious expression, but it turns more into a smile as a wide grin spreads across his face at your silly action.
"You actually want me to say it? That I love you?" He asks, "Is that what the game is?" he rolls his eyes and shakes his head in amusement.
"Maybe?" you whisper out softly and look at him with those hopeful eyes of yours that make him melt.
Tsukishima is silent, just looking at you calmly in a way that makes your heart raise with excitement and trepidation togther.
"Am I making you uncomfortable?" you ask softly and he sighs, shaking his head, his eyes softening.
"Of course not, its just...I am not used to it?" He says and you listen to him intently, nodding, urging him to continue. "I just...I don't know, it makes me feel so vulnerable saying it." He utters.
"I just feel like what the point of saying it, when I already express it through other ways, you know?" he says, running his fingers through your hair, calmly. Thats how he loves you.
"I know. you murmur, "I just like hearing you say it." You hum with a pause, looking at him, trying to gauge his reaction. "You don't have to say it if you don't want to, its just that it makes it feel so much real when I hear it..."
Tsukishima smiles, lightly. Thats what he loves about you. You have these ways of making him feel utterly speechless and you do this so effortlessly.
"Okay." he says, his ears getting a tiny bit red. You want to point it out, but you bite your tongue to not ruin the moment.
"I love you." he says, his hand resting over your head and a you can't help the bright smile that makes its way on your face. Hearing it out of his mouth almost makes you flustered. You can't help but giggle and bury your face in his chest.
"I love you too."

01:54 a.m. — night walk
“i'm sorry?”
tsukishima fiddled with his fingers while avoiding your gaze. he rubbed the back of his neck while looking at the lamp post few feet away from you.
“are you really inviting me over at your place?”
he pursed his lips as he nodded his head.
after almost six months of dating while taking everything slow, he's finally ready to share his safe space with you. both of you are finally starting to lower your guard around each other; ready to take your relationship to a-whole-nother level.
“um... so, uh... should i bring something over? i mean, should we pick up something to eat before...” you let out a nervous laugh before looking at him. “i've never done this before.”
tsukishima looked into your eyes with a smile. He grabbed your hand before pressing his lips againdt your knuckles.
“we could grab something to eat or we could just order later.” he held your hand closer to his chest. “we could also eat first then head straight to my place.”
“that sounds awesome!” you said before looking at the well-lit street you're taking. “we could do the former if you're not that hungry yet, the latter if you are.”
“you're not hungry yet?”
you shook your head. “after hearing your invitation, i feel like i'm all full.”
you wouldn't trade the moment you were sharing with tsukishima at the moment for anything else.
GRUMBLE
or maybe you'd trade your stomach for a full one.
“let's eat first, then!” he said after chuckling. “we could grab some snacks afterwards.”
“sorry 'bout that...” you murmured while nuzzling your face against his arm.
you felt his warm hand against your cheek before he tilted your head up. he pressed a warm kiss against your forehead with a smile.
“don't worry about it,” he reassured.
“thank you, kei-kun.”
“you're always welcome, love.”
you continued to walk towards the bustling street where several restaurants are lined up on both sides.
“so, where shall we eat?”

“Turn your alarm off,” you groan, and you cover your head with the duvet. The alarm keeps blaring throughout the room. You hit his back. “Wake up!” You groan. He starts to stir awake, and he reaches for his phone to turn off his alarm. You lay back on the bed and sigh, “Why have an alarm when I'm the one who wakes you up?" “Because it needs to wake you up,” he retorts. He pulls you close to his chest and kisses your forehead. “Sorry, baby." “You’re awful," you say, lightly kissing his jaw. “Awww, I love you too,” he laughs, and he wraps his arms around you in a big hug.

what it is
summary: Oikawa x Reader. he makes it out of the friendzone (with some help)
word count: 1.3k
cw: nothing, oikawa in glasses
a/n: i wrote this in under an hour while heavily caffeinated?;!;!4& brain melting
“You’re late,” you say with a grin. Oikawa Tooru pouts at you, his team jacket folded over his arms. He’s already changed out of uniform, you notice; must have exchanged it for a white t-shirt and slacks in the locker room.
“I was swarmed,” he claims as the two of you start to walk together. You roll your eyes and don’t even bother making a jab about his popularity with the girls (and people of all genders, really). At this point, you’ve accepted that deranged fans come with the territory of being friends with the volleyball team captain.
You met Oikawa on the first day of your first year at Aoba Johsai and had been friends ever since. Even though you had no interest in the sport at first, his love for volleyball was infectious. He had even roped you into being the team’s manager. You still weren’t sure how he had pulled that off, but you didn’t mind too much—you’d grown to love the team and the sport too, in your own way.
Despite your closeness, you’d never really understood why he had a fan club, especially as a teenage school athlete. You expected his popularity to grow when (not if) he went professional, but the idea of swooning over some guy you had pre-calculus classes with was totally foreign to you. It was a running joke among your friends that you were immune to Oikawa’s looks and charming magnetism (and, honestly, to all four of the team’s upperclassmen. You could acknowledge how objectively attractive they all were even though none of them seemed to fit your niche).
Sometimes, you caught Oikawa making strange expressions while your friends teased you about not liking him. It felt like you were the only one who noticed these kinds of things, sometimes. You really liked being able to read him so easily: both of you had saved each other under the contact name “Platonic Soulmate” in your phones.
You chalked up the weird faces to your friend’s first-rate ego, and even though you knew that the notion of one person not being desperately in love with him wouldn’t scratch the surface of his self-esteem, you always found yourself taking his hand surreptitiously or leaning your head on his shoulder when you did see him looking mopey. He always perked up, after that, and all would be sunshine again.
Today, everyone else had bailed on you when you suggested a joint ice-cream-and-study-date before next week’s exams. Iwaizumi had claimed that Oikawa was too loud and always distracted him, so he couldn’t seriously try to study together. Matsukawa had to babysit and refused to bring the brats, as he affectionately called his siblings, to get sweets. Hanamaki had just quirked his eyebrows at you and said, “I don’t feel like third wheeling. Thanks, but no thanks.”
You hadn’t really understood what he meant, but you hadn’t questioned it.
Oikawa had almost begged off to do some solo practice, too, but you’d made a fuss about nearing the end of your high school experience and worrying that you would fall out of touch when volleyball became his whole life (even moreso than it was now!), and he’d caved with an overdramatic sigh and a soft look that told you he wasn’t all that mad about your guilt-tripping.
You’re broken from your thoughts when you reach the ice-cream shop, Oikawa jabbering in your ear about some drama you can’t keep up with.
“And then she told me—ah, I can’t read the menu. You know, they were late refilling my contact prescription this month, so I’ve been carrying around my glasses, I hate it. So unflattering.”
You worry your lip as you stare at the flavor chart, barely listening to him talk.
“I’m sure it’s,” you start, turning to him as he slides the case out of his pocket and puts the frames on his face in a smooth motion. “Um.”
The glasses are not unflattering, you think dumbly, staring at him, your sentence hanging unfinished. The glasses perch on his nose perfectly, making you appreciate, for the first time, the shape of his nose and his cheekbones. Had they always been that sharp? And since when had his eyes been so pretty, reflecting the sunlight in so many shades, framed with long eyelashes that would have made you jealous if you weren’t so—
You reach out and lift the glasses off his face slowly, hoping that the old, familiar features that you’d never felt anything but friendship-friendly feelings towards would return. You can still see it, though: the divot of his Cupid’s bow is appealing, now, his smooth skin glowing to you, his surprised expression fucking adorable. You drop the frames back onto his nose.
Very abruptly, whatever immunity you once had to Oikawa’s looks is demolished in one fell swoop.
“I have to go have a midlife crisis,” you say decisively, and march out of the shop.
“Hey! What—where are you going? You’re not even middle-aged?” Oikawa calls after you, and you try steadfastly to ignore him, but every sense seems to have been awakened to your friend. Your face flushes, and you start walking faster, nearing the pace of a jog even though your limbs are stiff.
You finally pull over in a quieter, slightly more secluded spot between two buildings. You lean against the wall, closing your eyes, trying to remind yourself to take deep breaths.
“Are you okay?” Oikawa says, and you curse his long, athlete legs for having followed you so swiftly. “What’s wrong?”
You open your eyes. He’s still wearing the fucking glasses. Rest in peace, you think to yourself, surely my heart is going to give up soon, at the rate it’s going. Your lips part, but you can’t seem to get the words out. His worried gaze studies you until he finds something—exactly whatever you didn’t want him to see. A slow smile unfurls over his face, and you narrow your eyes. Ugh, how dare his smugness be attractive too, now?
“I should wear the glasses more often, huh?” He says, and you shake your head no frantically.
“Please don’t,” you say. “It’s, like, it doesn’t even matter anymore, anyway, I can’t unsee it now.”
“Unsee what?” He cocks his head, and he’s getting closer, and there’s nowhere to back away from him because you’re up against a wall—
“You’re hot!” You wail. “I saw it and I’m never gonna stop thinking it now, it doesn’t even matter what you wear, I’m doomed! This is the worst thing ever, ‘Kawa, how’m I supposed to go on… I can’t be your friend and a part of your fan club. I don’t think I can even be a part of your fan club ‘cause I don’t just think you’re hot, I think I have a crush on you—oh, my God, I have a c—”
Your increasingly frantic rambling is cut off by Oikawa sealing his lips to yours. The kiss is quick and sweet, and when he pulls away he still looks so, so handsome, and so concerned.
“Please breathe,” he says, and you nod, gaping at him in shock. “I like you too, okay? Please stop having a crisis.
“Okay,” you exhale, bracing your hands on his shoulders. “Okay. I’m still freaking out, though. I think the only way to stop it is to keep kissing me.”
Oikawa heaves a big, overdramatic sigh, and leans in, his glasses bumping your face; giving in to you, just like he always does.

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ ♡•°`.
“it’s embarrassing to admit this, really. after all this time we’ve been apart from each other.”
atsumu and you didn’t always hate each other.
truthfully, you had started off getting along really well, even better than you’d gotten along with osamu. it was something no one could explain, until it all fell apart.
your story went all the way back to your second year of middle school, where the miyas had to move due to the twins’ mother having found a job on the other side of the prefecture. that meant the twins had to transfer schools as well.
it wasn’t like either of the two had difficulties at adapting to their new environments, given that they were quite popular because of their athleticism and their looks. even at their new school, their talent for volleyball made them climb up the ladder of fame in no time.
this is where you came in. a mean, popular girl who had no qualms about making other kids feel worse about themselves. everyone was careful not to cross paths with you or get on your bad side, afraid of your wrath.
the twins had been warned about your presence that lingered like a devil on the school grounds. “she hates boys who are loud and eccentric,” a classmate had told the two, and the younger twin shot a pointed look at the older, which made him glare back at him.
“the hell are ya starin’ at me for, samu!?”
“nothin’.”
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ ♡•°`.
“you were the first person to approach me, although you knew what others thought of me. we were kids back then, but i haven’t forgotten.”
it was both a blessing and a curse to be avoided by everyone. you had your peace and no one was there to mess with you, but at times, it was really boring.
lunch breaks had to be the worst. if you ate your lunch at the hall, everyone would avoid you like the pest. you’d have a table that ten students could use, for yourself.
it was cold outside today, but you still sat on the bench in the yard, ignoring your growling stomach. your mother hadn’t been packing you lunch in a while, and you couldn’t find anything to shove into your bag last minute in the morning.
counting the coins you found in the pockets of your thin coat, you determined with a frown that it was nowhere near enough to buy even a cereal bar.
you could just bully some of the juniors into giving you money or their lunch. before you could stand up and march towards an innocent group of schoolkids playing tag on the other side of the yard, someone sat next to you.
your eyes narrowed at the sight of one of the new kids. you had no idea which of the two it was, given that you couldn’t distinguish a difference between them, and frankly, you didn’t really care. neither of the two shared a class with you anyway.
“hi, i’m atsumu, the older and cool twin!” he introduced himself, running a chubby hand through his thick, brown hair parted on the right. come to think of it, their hair was parted on different sides.
“whad’ya have for lunch? wanna swap? you can have my vegetables and cheese sandwich.” your eyes wandered down to the open box in his lap, filled with delicious bread and vegetables that made your mouth water. you haven’t even had breakfast this morning.
“why are you talking to me?” big, brown eyes widened at you dismissing him, when other girls would die for his attention. “i’ve already eaten.”
the loud growling of your stomach made you clutch your upper body, cheeks flaring in shame as the brunette grinned.
“liar! ya can have mine, y’know. here ya go.”
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ ♡•°`.
“you were so obnoxious and insufferable to most, but i didn’t see that. i couldn’t care less about what you were like, when you were so nice to me.”
it hadn’t taken you too long to finally notice other differences between the twins. because sometimes when standing in front of either of them, you couldn’t quite tell if the part was on the left or right.
osamu’s eyes were a dark gray, while atsumu’s were brown, like molten chocolate. atsumu would always sound excited, his voice distinguishable from miles away, while osamu was more reserved and preferred calmness.
except for when the two were together, of course. atsumu was quite against introducing you to him, complaining to you that people always ended up liking his brother more, much to his chagrin.
but you were so alone all the time, so he dragged you along to watch him practice one day.
“hey… is that that girl?”
your body language was tense, the discomfort written all over your face as you gazed holes into the floors of the gym, where teammates of the twins were whispering among each other.
“i don’t think they want me here.” you didn’t look sad when you said it, nor did you look upset, it seemed like you’d already accepted it. atsumu had known you for weeks, and osamu had just met you, but it was the first time the two stepped up to defend someone instead of bickering at each other like they did all the time.
“hey, ya pricks! are ya not ashamed to be pickin’ on a girl?”
it had resulted in a fight, with the other members of the volleyball team complaining loudly about how atsumu was such a loudmouth despite being new, telling him to shut up.
it was the wrong timing perhaps, because punches started being thrown, but as you intervened and kicked the boys who dared to lay a hand on either of the twins, a feeling of fuzzy warmth spread inside of you as you could only think of the boy who shared his lunches with you.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ ♡•°`.
“sometimes, i wish i could go back to relive those days. what i wouldn’t do to have you share one of your lunchboxes with me or have you include me in your life one more time.”
middle school seemed to pass in a blur, and you three graduated together, already knowing you’d be attending the same high school.
neither of you had the best grades or the best reputation, but at the end of the day, you happily held the certificates in your hands, having the twins’ parents snap photos of you three. one of those photos that had been taken that day, with atsumu and you shyly standing next to each other, would soon be framed and placed on your nightstand.
your parents didn’t attend. the sight of all students being hugged, kissed and celebrated by their families, while you were on your own chipped away at your heart.
“hey!” atsumu’s loud voice pulled you out of your train of thoughts, and he pointed at his parents looking through osamu’s report while smiling. “what’re ya bein’ so gloomy for? my parents are waitin’!”
with furrowed brows, you stared at the brunette, not quite understanding what he meant by that. you were going to head home, why would mr. and mrs. miya be waiting for you?
“we’re goin’ to this great barbecue place at the mall!” atsumu had told you about it before, the miyas had a tradition of going there for birthdays or other celebrations. it almost made you envious, because you didn’t have that.
“is that so?” you smiled at him, “have fun, tsumu. i’ll see you after the holidays.”
before you could turn around and leave, the boy tugged at your sleeve, pulling you back and towards his parents. you were stunned.
“i saved up all year to pay for yer meal! made my parents reserve an extra seat for you!”
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ ♡•°`.
“it all went to hell when my pride got in the way. when you started hanging out with that girl, and i felt threatened by her.”
it was in your second year of high school when things had started shifting between you two. you were more than used to the fans who went crazy for the two, which progressively started getting unbearable at some point.
flooded lockers with letters and chocolates they’d share with you, countless confessions you’d hear and see, and girls bombarding you with favors of getting them closer to either of the twins.
you could live with that. after all, they weren’t popular for no reason. they were handsome, very much so, and they were volleyball prodigies, scoring countless points for inarizaki at each game.
there was one girl who had gotten atsumu’s attention as much as he had gotten hers. they were in the same class, too. it was osamu who told you they had started hanging out when you were surprised about them going to get lunch together, with him nudging her side and making her chuckle.
you had woken up half an hour earlier just to prepare a lunchbox you could share with the blonde. but at the end of the day, you sullenly sat at the same table with osamu and the rest of the team, staring at the untouched food. the atmosphere was awkward, and the boys exchanged glances, clueless as to if they should speak up and ask you what’s wrong.
“that looks really good.” of course suna was the first to talk, narrow eyes peering over at your lunch. “why aren’t ya eatin’ it?”
aran shook his head at the middle blocker’s directness, and osamu frowned when you shoved the pink box towards suna, no more having an appetite after watching atsumu and that girl sitting together. “you can have it.”
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ ♡•°`.
“jealousy is truly an ugly thing. so is love. it makes you do questionable things. but all i wanted was to protect you from heartbreak, even if it was at the expense of my own heart.”
the more time atsumu spent with her, the more worried you got. especially since there was some sort of sixth sense telling you that she was bad news.
you hated her for taking atsumu away from you, yes. but if she had been good for him, you would’ve accepted it, no matter how difficult. it was just that you knew she was no good.
“‘samu, i heard her talking to her girl friends in the dressing rooms after P.E.” you had bolted to osamu’s desk before the class would start, hair disheveled from the former class, and you were out of breath.
the younger miya quirked a thick brow at your words, “emma, you mean?” you nodded frantically, “she’s just using him for popularity. said she wants to dump him when he gets famous after high school, and she does too.”
osamu wasn’t really interested in entertaining any drama, especially when it came to his annoying brother. he could see how concerned you were for him though, and he couldn’t blame you for it. atsumu was very important to you, after all.
“are ya sure?” it wasn’t like he didn’t believe you. he just thought it might be a stretch. how was emma going to lead atsumu on for over a year, and how could she be so sure that he was going to be famous after high school?
“maybe she was just kiddin’. are ya sure you’re not just jealous?”
you were biting your lip, looking truly troubled. you did not want to ruin things, but you had to help atsumu get away from that bitch. you could not allow her to ruin him.
“‘samu, i—”
“atsumu is 17. neither of us should have t’tell him what to do. he has to learn himself.”
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ ♡•°`.
“i had never planned on taking osamu’s advice from the second i heard it. in my mind, the only reasonable thing was to make her stay away from you.”
it was exactly a week later after gym class that you cornered the same girl against the lockers. no one else was around, and with a hand against her mouth, you made sure she didn’t call for any help.
“what are you—” a surprised squeal left her lips when you slammed her back against the locker one more time, to make her shut up. with wide eyes, she looked into yours that were void of any emotion.
she knew who you were. the twin’s childhood friend, atsumu’s close friend. too close for the brunette’s liking.
“listen,” you warned her, glowering at her like she was your worst enemy, “i know what you’re plannin’. i will tell you this this just this once: stay away from him.”
you thought it would have been enough to seperate those two, to keep atsumu safe. to have him back.
of course it wouldn’t be. you couldn’t have known. it wasn’t until the very next day that it all backfired. when you entered the school grounds in the morning, school bag thrown over your shoulder and lunch prepared in hopes of getting to spend time with atsumu today after a long time, you soon noticed that something was off.
everyone was staring at you, whispering and gossiping. it was an all-too familiar sight to you, it was nothing new. ignoring it all, you proceeded to your locker that was next to atsumu’s. just to be greeted by emma leaning against yours, arms crossed in front of her chest as she wore a hoodie you’d recognize anywhere. it belonged to atsumu.
“move,” you gritted your teeth as you forced your eyes away from the hoodie, ready to shove her aside. “or what?” she feigned a pout, kicking against the locker to get everyone’s attention on you two, her voice loud enough for everyone to hear. “gonna threaten and hurt me again to get what ya want? because you can’t handle that he never wanted you?”
everything around you got quiet, students looking at each other in disbelief, and your hands clenched into tight fists. still, you kept quiet, knowing it would be bad if you caved in first.
“oh wait, could it be?” she suddenly clapped her hands together, chuckling while you deadpanned at her, seemingly unaffected by her attitude, when in reality, you were boiling from the inside out. “did you really think he’d choose you over me? he would never stoop so low! in fact, he actually told me you were not—”
everything happened fast after that. she was on the floor before she could blink, screaming as your enraged self was on top of her, seeing red. it was when you were at the principal’s office with cotton up your bleeding and bruised nose, and the scratches on your cheeks from when emma’s friends had dragged you off of her, that you finally realized what you’d done.
it only filled you with regret when atsumu came to cradle a crying, hurt emma in his arms, yelling at you to never, ever look at either of the two again.
maybe you should have listened to osamu, after all.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ ♡•°`.
“school after that was hell for me, understandably. i couldn’t blame anyone for not talking to me anymore, most of all, you. i didn’t have the right to be hurt by you taking emma to that barbecue place with your parents after high school graduation… but i cried a lot that day.”
osamu had tried to get atsumu to talk to you again. to not be so mad at you. but the blonde was blind to the eyes and deaf to whatever his brother would tell him, so he eventually gave up on that, too.
you were too prideful and hurt to approach atsumu either, pretending that you hated him for having done this to you. he was the cause that you were a loser again. that you lost the only people you had in your life.
couldn’t he just have treasured you more?
it was on the day of your high school graduation that you asked the younger twin to talk for just a minute. gray-haired boy looked down at you, round eyes blinking multiple times as you offered him a small smile.
“i just wanted to let you know that i’m moving to tokyo for college.” he just stared at you, knowing very damn well you weren’t in the mood to smile like you were doing right now. “i heard you’re opening a shop soon. maybe our paths will cross again one day.”
when osamu didn’t say anything, you took it as a hue to leave, again having neither of your parents to share your success of having graduated with you. you rummaged in your bag before you could leave though, holding a letter in your hand that your fingers were itching to hand to him. “can you just give this to—”
actually, no. it didn’t matter.
with glassy eyes, you dropped the envelope back into your bag, zipping it shut. “forget it. take care, ‘samu.”
you cried on your entire way home, until you went to sleep that night.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ ♡•°`.
“i regret not having given osamu that letter to this day, even years later. i’ve just recently added these paragraphs, because i’ve made up my mind to make this letter reach you anyway.”
the volleyball match playing on the tv served as background noise while you went through the cleaned kitchen at the hotel restaurant you’d worked at. everyone else had left already, and all that was done was to check the inventory and make sure everything was where it should be.
while checking off certain tasks you had to make sure were done, you halfway listened to the interviews after the match was over. it hadn’t even dawned on you that it was his team that had played today.
“is there anything you want to tell your fans after the great victory today, miya-san?”
your entire body froze, pen dropping on the list as your tired eyes wandered to the television. he looked breathtaking as ever, even when he was covered in sweat.
“i wanna say somethin’ to a certain someone, actually.” his grin made your heart stop, baring his pearly whites as his voice was slightly hoarse from all the yelling on the court. “i’m sure she’s watchin’ this right now.”
the reporter looked at atsumu with a curious, bright smile as she waited for him to continue, microphone right below his panting mouth. “who’s the lucky woman?” she questioned, which made him beam at the cameras.
you didn’t feel addressed, too certain that he had another lover he wanted to say something to. about to turn the tv off and announce your work as done for the night, you were stopped when he opened his mouth again.
“my nemesis, you could say,” he took a deep breath after answering the shorter woman’s question, “i got your letter. you know where i’ll be!”
this couldn’t be a coincidence. you had missed today’s airing of TO ALL THE MEN YOU’VE LOVED BEFORE, and they had confirmed that atsumu had gotten the letter. it had to be you, there was no way he meant someone else.
after a quick research, you found out that the match was indeed aired live and had taken place in hyogo, where both of you had grown up in. where you had moved back to after college, because tokyo wasn’t your home, hyogo was.
you knew exactly which place atsumu hinted at, and like a flash, you passed by the hotel lobby to speed towards the location.
it hadn’t even taken you ten minutes to arrive at the school gates of inarizaki high school. it had been a stupid pinky promises between you two while you were still on talking term; to meet where things ended, shall they ever end.
standing at that spot made your gut churn with negative and positive feelings. things had ended indeed, heartbreakingly so. but perhaps this was a chance to make up again. to start from zero.
you waited for at least an hour, you were sure. time didn’t seem to pass like this, and the more you grew aware that it didn’t, the more agitated you became.
what if he didn’t show up?
what if he showed up, just to tell you to go fuck yourself?
“what am i even doing?” you laughed breathlessly, fiddling with the car keys in your pocket. you should just leave. this was absolutely stupid and delusional of you, to actually hope you were going to make up.
“hey.”
stopping in your tracks, you grew aware of the person dressed in black, standing in front of you. they were wearing a mask and had a hood over their head, and they could’ve just been a criminal about to rob you of your money, but you’d recognize those eyes and that voice from anywhere.
this time, you didn’t wait. you didn’t let your pride hold you back as you ran into his arms, dwarfed up by his massive body that had just gotten even bigger over the years. his arms caged you in his form, swallowing all your sobs and cries in his fluffy, black hoodie as he stood still, rubbing the back of your head in soothing circles.
he was there. atsumu actually came. he came to see you. he didn’t hate you anymore.
“i’m so sorry,” you cried for the fiftieth time in five minutes, barely able to pull away as snot and tears ran down your exhausted face. his heart broke at the sight, his own eyes blurring with a wave of tears. “i’m sorry for everything, ‘tsumu. please, please forgive—”
with gentle, warm hands placed on your damp cheeks, tracing over the scars that had been left on you from that fight, he shushed you. “it’s okay.” you hated the mask for muffling his beautiful voice, and you felt your heart crack when a tear slid down his eye, disappearing under the mask. “i’m the one who should be sorry. i was the worst to you. you didn’t deserve any of it.”
he started sniffling, and your mind went blank, eyes wide as you grabbed onto his hands, shaking him softly. “no, no,” you begged him, “i don’t want you to cry. please don’t cry. i made a mistake, i messed it up, not you!”
the setter found himself melting at your touches, letting you pull off his hood and pull down his mask to reveal his face under the night sky. his lips wobbled, nose and cheeks reddening as tears fell from his big, brown hues.
“i deserved your hatred, ‘tsumu.” your hands were cold on his skin as you wiped his tears the second you saw them. he shook his head, “don’t say that. how could i ever hate you?”
with your fingers interlaced, both of you still in a daze, squeezing each other’s hand so tightly to realize that this was real, you took him to your place. because neither of you wanted to let go.
atsumu could cry when he saw the picture of you two from your middle school graduation in one of your cupboards on the wall next to the tv in your living room. what did make him break down was seeing that one hairpin he’d gifted you on your 13th birthday right in front of the framed picture.
“‘samu never stopped talking about you and how sad you looked at our high school graduation.” his reddened eyes didn’t leave the picture even when you stood next to him, almost as if he was too ashamed to look at you. “i’m really sorry. i truly am.”
you smiled up at him nostalgically, like you’d always do back then. he caught it from his peripheral, and it made his heart skip a beat. “we were teenagers, ‘tsumu,” you assured him while your hand traced over his broad shoulders. “things happen. i think i had to lose you to grow up and realize things.”
his body finally turned to you to face you. his hair was a softer, lighter blonde now, nearly white. it looked fluffier, too. his cheekbones were more sculpted, and you could feel the slightest stubble on his chin.
no matter how many years would pass, you’d always be in love with each and every version of atsumu.
“realize what?” his features were soft, thick eyebrows raising in question while you looked away bashfully. you’d written it in the letter. he just wanted you to say it out loud, because he was dying to hear you say it.
“atsumu, i…” you started, playing with the collar of his hoodie. he stopped breathing. “i’ve been in love with you since forever. since the very first time you shared your lunch with me.”
the cat was out of the bag. you exhaled a shaky breath, and before you could muster up the courage to look back at the now professional athlete, he beat you to it. atsumu was always bold. he took what he wanted, with no shame. he made you realize this once again when he planted his lips on you immediately after tilting your face up.
one short kiss was enough for you to ask more. now that you had him in your arms again, you wanted all of him. you had waited so long for the impossible to happen. and now that you finally had it…
“‘tsumu. kiss me again, please.”
so he did. again and again. to show you how sorry he was, to show you that he hadn’t meant any of the crap he had pulled on you years ago. he was a dumb prick, and he won’t ever forgive himself for what he’d done. he had missed out on so much with you, and he saw that one more time when you were seated on his lap in the dim living room, hovering above him needily.
you were all he ever needed. it felt like now he had you back again, a gap had been filled inside of him. one that nothing and no one was able to fill. no one could ever replace you, no emma, no girl, no one.
every kiss and touch was followed by him muttering apologies into your skin, worshipping your skin like it was holy. handling you with utmost care like you were made out of porcelain. he watched you fall apart from him just fondling you through your clothes.
“p—please, i need—” you sucked in a breath when you felt his bulge pressing through his sweatpants, prodding at your slacks. “need you, please. want to be yours.”
atsumu hummed into your neck as his strong hands carefully took off your blouse, revealing your bra-clad chest. “y’look so sexy in these clothes,” he mumbled, admiring the sight of you shakily unbuttoning your pants. “wanna see you in them every day when you go to work and when you come home.”
you whined at his lowly spoken words, letting him help you take off your pants. your clammy hands tugged at his hoodie and sweatpants that were soon gone as well, pooling at the floor.
atsumu’s body looked absolutely gorgeous. the second it was revealed to you, you traced your fingers over every ridge and cranny of his arms and upper body, sucking marks on and kissing his supple, firm skin that was still so soft.
“baby,” atsumu huffed, feeling his cock twitching at every single movement of yours. you were driving him crazy. “lemme do the rest, kay? i want tonight t’be all about you.”
nodding softly, you waited with bated breath as atsumu unclasped your bra and let it thud to the floor, joining the rest of your clothes. the way he licked his lips and groaned made you soak through your panties. moans and whimpers freely spilled from your glossy mouth once he latched his soft lips onto one of the mounds, while his hand paid attention to the other, twirling your hardened nipple between warm fingers.
“perfect tits,” he panted into your chest, looking up to meet your gaze as he licked his wet lips. “yer perfect, darlin’. everything about you is.” stammering pleas for atsumu to continue while you ran your fingers through his soft strands, you shuddered upon his unoccupied hand wandering down your stomach, until it settled at the hem of your lace panties.
“want me to go on, baby?”
his eyes were blown wide in lust and desire, fingers digging into your skin enough to leave marks. you bit your lip, whimpering through your teeth as you nodded. “yes, please, atsumu...”
atsumu knew you were wet from how you’d soaked the front of his light gray boxers, but actually feeling how aroused you were made him utter curses. it was so much, and you produced even more slick with just a single touch. how fucking adorable.
“so, so wet,” he groaned as one of his fingers slipped inside your clenching hole so easily, “fuck, so tight n’ warm. yer gonna make me cum, princess. fuck…”
he couldn’t wait to feel you around his cock. couldn’t wait to be engulfed by your warmth, to feel all of you. with big, wide eyes, he watched as you came undone on his fingers in just a minute, clutching his bare, sculpted shoulders while you creamed on his long digits. it was the prettiest thing he’d ever seen, and he wanted more.
“‘tsumu—” your thighs were shaking, and you kissed his jaw sloppily. “wan’ me to suck you off?” you couldn’t be serious. atsumu was literally seconds from creaming in his boxers, and you offered a blowjob to him so sweetly? he had to physically keep you in place to stop your hips from moving.
“no, i wanna feel your pretty pussy ‘round my dick,” he panted, and you obediently reached your deft fingers to pull at the waistband of his boxers. despite both of you being very desperate and impatient, you still took the time to take off each other’s underwear.
it was the need to be connected without anything disrupting you, rather than to ravage each other. although you were aware that if atsumu wasn’t going to dick you down in this very moment, you were going to explode.
you saw a glimpse of atsumu’s girthy and gorgeous cock before it started disappearing inside of your awaiting cunt. his hands gripped your hips tightly, keeping you still, while you mewled and sighed into his neck.
“how d’ya feel, angel?” atsumu’s voice was serene, calm, as he enjoyed the warmth he was buried inside of to the hilt. he was never going to let you go again, ever. “f—feels… so full,” you whined, raising your head from his shoulder to look into his eyes. “y’re so big, ‘tsumu. so warm. love it.”
leaning back against the back of the couch, the blonde started a sensual and slow pace, and you felt so overwhelmed that you didn’t know any better than to kiss him. moving your hips back and forth with his hands guiding you, you swallowed each other’s moans of passion and love, tongues clashing and lips molding together and becoming one.
atsumu and you were made for each other. you were made to be with him. you were each other’s destiny.
“i love you,” you started crying when the sensation started building inside of your gut, threatening to snap. “love you s’much, ‘tsumu. i love you so much.” atsumu kissed your tears away, listening to you babbling confessions and apologies as you kept clenching around him as if you wanted him inside of you forever.
“i love you too,” he grunted, punctuating his words with harder and faster snaps of his hips against your heat. the sounds of squelches and moans echoed across your apartment that had been empty and devoid of life and love for years. “will never let you go again. i’m so sorry.”
atsumu knew he was nearing his release, and his eyes frantically looked for yours, sweat clinging to his forehead and body as his hair stuck to his face. you were cross-eyed, digging your nails into his shoulders as if you wanted him even closer.
“need t’cum inside of you, angel,” atsumu hissed the more you tightened around him, nearly trapping him inside of you. “can i fill you up? please, please…”
nodding mindlessly, you wrapped your arms around atsumu’s neck, working you both towards a release. you were the first to cave in, hips stilling as you let out a high-pitched moan while waves of white came crashing down.
with a slack jaw and eyes rolled back into his skull, atsumu started releasing spurts of his warm seed into your womb, cock twitching until his balls were empty while you relished in his warmth he had shared with you.
neither of you moved, not even minutes later, feeling like you have melted into one body. the silence in the apartment finally felt peaceful instead of haunting, the second pair of eyes in it filling you with a sense of home.
atsumu’s fingers combed through your damp hair while you laid your head on his built chest, listening to his calming heartbeat. it was a matter of time till this tranquil moment was going to vanish.
“i must say, thinking about you having fought for me is really hot—” you cut him off by pinching the tender skin on his chest, which made him yelp. “ow!”
“i hate you, atsumu.”
you knew damn well you didn’t.

Hey can you do some headcanons with timeskip kenma? where he gets a girlfriend? My request isn't really clear 😕 sorry for that!
Haikyuu!! ~Getting a girlfriend~
Manga/anime: Haikyuu!!
Warnings: slight spoiler of Kenma's future
(Y/N): your name
K. Kenma
Your first meeting took place in the video game store: you were his big fan, so you immediately recognized him when you were next to him, looking at the PlayStations ("Excuse me, are you Kodzuken?" "Yes." "I'm your big fan!"). He was really impressed with you, especially because, after introducing yourself, you only gave him congratulations and encouragements, and you didn't bother him again
You met the second time in an arcade a few days after the first meeting. You two played video games for a long time and he finally got up the courage to ask you to exchange phone numbers, so you two started hanging out together. The longer you were together, the more he appreciated you and unconsciously fell in love with you especially after you had made him a delicious apple pie. However, he couldn't understand his feelings, so he asked Kuroo what these meant, and he realized he was in love with you ("When I'm with (Y/N), I feel happy and I want to be forever with her. Why?" "You're in love, Kenma." "Oh.")
The day he confessed he loved you was probably one of the happiest days of his life: exactly a year had passed since your first meeting, and you two were at his house playing video games. You had beaten him although he had made you win on purpose to see your smile and you were cheering and jumping around the couch you were sitting on. He was thinking about how cute you were, and he couldn't stop himself from whispering: "I love you."
Instead, it was you who kissed him the first time: a girl was flirting with him and ignoring you, although you had already told her you were his girlfriend. For this reason, in a fit of jealousy caused by the view of the girl's attempt to hug and kiss Kenma, you grabbed him by his shirt's collar to pull him down to your height and pressed your lips to his
Currently, after about five years of dating, you two live together. He continues to be a YouTuber and a gamer; you occasionally make videos with him in which you play together. You don't know he'll propose to you in a few days...

it's about time I wrote something for owl head. @luvring I blame you for launching me right back into my bokuto era. not sure how I feel about my characterization of him yet, but it's a work in progress. considering it's my first time writing him, I don't think it's too horrible!!
gn!reader, no physical descriptions. established relationship, fluff fluff fluff, he is such a baby omg. I just want to see him happy, he's so sunshiney and warm. slight, miniscule, microscopic suggestiveness in one part.
Tumblr media
early mornings can get a bit hectic when your boyfriend spends the night.
they used to be worse, you will admit, but even if you've both established somewhat of a morning routine, actually putting the plan into motion always proves to be a difficult task.
hopefully things settle after he moves in, you think.
you take a few moments to bask in the early morning silence that follows the swift movements of shutting off of your alarm (it's far too cold out for birds to chirp outside your window, and your apartment's not too close to any busy streets) and admire the sweet man beside you. ever the deep sleeper, bokuto's snores pop you out of your bubble.
you check the time again and feel your face form an expression of pure disdain when it registers that you have less time to get ready than usual. you turn to the side.
he's facing away from you- an oddity, considering he usually has one hand on you at all times- broad back on display, expanding and deflating with every breath he takes.
it almost feels wrong to disrupt him, but you know he has to get up for practice soon anyway, so you attempt a softer wake up method.
you put out your hand and trace patterns over his skin. it's warm and soft and makes you want to cuddle up melt into him for the rest of time. knowing him, he wouldn't mind that one bit.
he barely stirs at the feeling of your fingertips, so you do get closer this time and press light kisses against his shoulder blade.
the back of his bicep.
the centre of his back.
a few along his spine.
the spot just behind his heart.
you watch as goosebumps follow your trail of kisses and smile as he shuffles and finally turns to face you.
"good morning, baby..." he yawns and gives you a sleepy, closed-eye smile.
it breaks your heart that you're going to have to cut this moment short, but it has to be done. you're already cutting it too close for comfort (last night's activities had forced you to set a later alarm). any longer in bed and you'd both be late for work.
you card a hand through his hair and match his expression. "good morning, koutarou. it's time to get up." you keep your voice low and sweet, hoping to keep him sleepy enough to just go along with whatever you say.
but it seems that fate is not on your side this morning.
he opens one eye just a crack and begins to nod before freezing and promptly burying his face into your chest. he wraps his arms around your torso, making you you groan a little. "I need to make up for not holding you while I was sleeping."
while the sentiment is sweet, you would think that him getting ready to move in with you would make up for it. but apparently not even the prospect of spending every night from now on in your arms is enough to satisfy him.
"ko, please," you huff and try to pry his arm off. you really don't want to be late for work. things have been picking up lately and you definitely don't want to be chewed out by your boss for poor time management.
but bokuto does not waver. he may be a big baby sometimes, and he may do everything in his power to make you happy, but he is also incredibly determined and annoyingly stubborn.
especially when it comes to sleep.
so he just holds you tighter, mumbling out little apologies for not keeping you warm during the night. you giggle at that, because you are nothing if not warm whenever he's around. his presence is akin to summer's sunshine- so genial and bright that you can feel his love even without the physical gestures he always insists upon.
you stroke his back and just as you're about to give in to him, a small, smug smile appears on his face.
"bokuto koutarou!" you gasp "you know exactly what you're doing, don't you?"
he laughs into your chest and you can feel it reverberate throughout your body. "just stay with me a bit longer, when was the last time you took a sick day, anyway?"
his voice is littered with drowsiness and it only makes you want to give into him even more.
how is it that you've always seen yourself as the clingy one in the relationship? the thought makes you laugh a bit and he looks up at you hopefully.
but sadly, one of you needs to have some self discipline, so you cup his face in your hands and squish his cheeks together. "nice try, lover boy, but you promised me you'd get up on time."
he pouts and you try not to crack a smile at how funny it looks with a squished face. "but baby-"
"nope! you brought this on yourself, ko. besides," you do let your smile break through this time. "you're the one who insisted on setting a later alarm." you poke his nose to punctuate your sentence.
"you're the one who insisted we'd have more than enough time to get ready." poke.
"and you're the one who kept begging to go round after round despite me telling you this would happen," poke.
you squeal a bit when he suddenly gets up to hover over you, a mischievous, almost predatory look in his eyes that can only mean no good. “sorry- who was the one begging, baby?”
he digs his fingers into your side, causing you to giggle and squirm underneath him. his other arm holds him up and cages you in just enough that you're unable to roll away to safety.
the thing with bokuto is that he can be incredibly playful and child-like, yes; but like most people on earth, he also has moments that remind you he's much more dynamic than the endearing traits he most often presents.
you'd consider yourself lucky to be one of the few to see every side of him, but as you lay underneath him with a giddy feeling in your stomach from how handsome he looks while tormenting you, you only feel your self-discipline melting away.
he might be rebranding himself as an "ordinary" ace now (much to the surprise of everyone who knew him in high school), but you've been convinced for years that there's nothing ordinary about him at all. his determination, skill and unconditional love for you proved your theory every day.
fine, maybe one "sick" day wouldn't hurt.
"okay, okay!" you gasp out through your laughter. "we can stay in bed if you stop tickling me!"
his smile is positively blinding as he retracts his hand from your side and flops back on top of you. "thank you, babe. can I tell you a secret?"
you raise an eyebrow and he takes that as signal to continue. he "lowers" his voice to a whisper-yell and says "I don't actually have practice today."
you blink at him. "ko, what?"
he lets out an excited laugh. "I tricked you. I came up with this whole plan to keep you home with me today and it worked."
the unmistakable pride in his voice washes away any annoyance building up within you and opens you up to hearing him out. "explain."
"you've been working so much lately, I can see how much it's wearing you out," he rolls onto his side to face you better and cup your face with one hand. "and last night practice got cancelled super suddenly 'cause coach got sick or something. so I decided we should both have the day off since we both work super hard. also... I didn't want to be lonely," he mumbles at the end.
you snort at his honesty and shake your head in appreciation. that's why he was being so insistent? how did you manage to land someone as unabashedly sweet and caring as him? you started the day worrying about being late, and now work is the last thing on your mind. you grab your phone off the night stand and quickly leave your boss a message, letting her know you won't be coming in because of some sudden illness.
bokuto watches you closely and allows you to cuddle into him with a smile after setting the device back down. "so... does this mean my master plan worked?"
you nodded into his bare chest and let the stress you've been storing for weeks release alongside a deep sigh. "can't leave my sweet boy feeling lonely, now can I?"
you say it as a joke, but you hope he hears the appreciation in your voice... that he can feel how thankful you are for him looking out for you.
it all remains unsaid for a while longer, but you know he understands the underlying message when he kisses your forehead and prompts you to get more sleep.
Tumblr media
BONUS:
you wake up again a couple hours later to a strange burning smell.
you're up immediately, not registering the fact that your boyfriend is not beside you anymore until you stumble into the kitchen and see him standing at the stove, stirring away.
the domestic view makes you excited for all of your mornings going forward looking like this, but you also make a mental note to buy a new set of pans before that happens.
he must feel you watching him, because he turns to greet you with a wide grin. "mornin', baby!"
"morning..." you make your way to the table and take a seat where there's already a glass of water. "are you making breakfast?" you try to keep your nerves out of your voice. he's not the worst cook in the world, and he's definitely improved since meeting you, but... he's still working on lunch recipes. he hasn't graduated to complicated breakfast foods yet.
he nods excitedly. "yup! I already had some cereal, though. I was gonna surprise you with breakfast in bed, but since you're up we can sit at the table." bokuto turns the stove off and scrapes... whatever it is evenly onto a plate. "it's a bit burnt, but it should still be good!"
he sets it down in front of you and the burning smell only gets stronger. you can see now that he had attempted pancakes. you smile up at him thankfully, but you wonder how you're going to get the round discs down without creating an unnatural chemical reaction within your stomach.
"I know it's been a while since we've had a proper breakfast together like this, and you mentioned a while ago that you've been craving pancakes, so I thought today would be the perfect day for that."
you can almost feel your pupils dilate when he says that. your heart beats faster and you feel warm all over (again). he remembered something like that? you don't even remember saying it, which leads you to believe that he's been storing it in his mind for a while now.
you scarf down the pancakes.
they're not good by any means, but you know they were made with love and that makes them the best damn pancakes you've ever tasted. you'd rather endure a the worst stomach ache imaginable than make this man sad.
his eyes widen. "woah! you must've been really hungry, do you want me to make you more? as many as you want, just give me a number!"
you tear up a bit, from affection for him or a reaction to the pancakes, you're not sure. "no, baby, these were perfect. do you want some coffee?"
he nods his head. "I wouldn't mind one if you're offering."
you kiss his cheek and move over to the coffee machine, still overflowing with love, but the taste of the charred breakfast lingers on your tongue. as you're grabbing a mug, you casually ask "hey baby? would you ever want to take a cooking class with me?"

I lowkey hate how it turned out, but not enough to keep it in the drafts. hope you enjoyed!!

FUZZY BRAIN
Tumblr media
an: im distracting myself but i haven't stopped thinking about this idea. so thought i would give it a spin. super super loosely based on my interpretation of fuzzybrain by dayglow!
pairings: timeskip!kuroo x fem!reader
warnings: slight angst, stress mentions, eating and drinking mentions, kuroo needs a nap :/
-
"how's your day going?"
"no, i don't need a receipt."
a very confused barista stares back at kuroo, who blinks back at her.
"wait, sorry," he grimaces and shakes his head. "my day is alright, how is yours?"
she responds, but he isn't really paying attention. lately, he hasn't been able to focus on much of anything. he grabs his coffee and heads back to the office, forgetting the embarrassing conversation before sitting down.
spring had finally arrived in japan, bringing an onslaught of responsibilities along with it. like the blossoms floating in the wind, different tasks and deadlines seemed to float their way onto kuroo's plate. his planner is full, daily agendas scribbled into whatever room remains. nothing seems to slow down. each item he crosses off is replaced with a new one in a matter of minutes.
he's scatterbrained.
"remember, we have that marketing meeting at five kuroo-san," one of his colleagues pats him on the back while sneaking behind his desk.
"oh, that's right," kuroo mumbles, flipping through the pages of his planner, finally reaching today's date. staring back at him, among the six other important things due today, is the meeting. highlighted, circled, and underlined. "see ya then."
he leans back and groans.
at this point, the due dates and deadlines aren't bothering him. he's almost numb, but comfortably so. he's found comfort in the hustle of it all, avoiding having nothing to do. his mind craves being busy.
his body disagrees.
kuroo's aching fingers rub at his eyes, preparing himself to stare at his computer monitor for the next few hours. dark circles have formed underneath his eyes, unmoving. his head throbs, but when is it not lately?
"kuroo-san, ushijima wakatoshi's manager called just now and wants to speak with you," one of the department's secretaries taps her palm on his desk, causing the mound of papers to slide slightly. his typing continues, and kuroo doesn't even notice.
"kuroo-san?"
his head shoots up. "sorry, did you say something?"
she gives him a sad smile.
"no, it's nothing. i'll tell them to call back."
as she clicks back to her desk, kuroo's brows furrow, before he cringes. just like this morning.
he's not sure how he got to this point. kuroo's always prided himself on his quick wit and problem-solving skills, as well as his hard work. he wouldn't have been able to imagine himself like this. overworked, exhausted, brain full of fuzz, and eyes bloodshot.
he doesn't recognize himself sometimes.
the day trudges on, the phone ringing constantly along with a steady flow of messages in his inbox. he crosses things off on his list, finally reaching the end. he smiles, with relief or pride he isn't quite sure. soon enough, it's time for his meeting, which means it's almost time to go home.
-
kuroo stumbles out of the door of his building, quickly brought to reality by the honk of a taxi and the shuffle of other commuters. he sighs, beginning the walk home.
it's times like these when he's thankful to live so close to work. all he wants is to get home, shower, and sleep. he smiles again, so close to being in the comfort of his own space, when his stomach growls.
then he frowns.
kuroo groans for what must be the tenth time today when he realizes that despite all of his meticulous planning and record keeping, he's forgotten to get groceries this week. at this point, he's past all of his regular takeout places. closing his eyes with sigh, he crosses the street to enter the small neighborhood market.
his fingers rub against his tight neck, sliding around to loosen his tie before grabbing a basket. he wracks his brain, attempting to come up with any dinner ideas for the evening. nearly walking into the door, kuroo tries to remember what's in his fridge at the moment.
"welcome in!"
"you too," he half waves at the cashier, their own waving hand slowly falling in confusion. kuroo remembers the chicken in his fridge, and finally begins to form a menu. he grabs a few veggies, an extra bag of rice, and heads into the last isle. his hand grabs a bottle of oil, and he stops.
his brows pinch together, staring down the bottle in his hand. why did i grab this?
he shakes his head. his mind races, trying to remember any sort of thoughts he had before grabbing this. he blinks, running recipes through his mind before letting out an irritating huff.
"what is this even for?"
"frying things, usually,"
"what?"
you blink up at him, grabbing ingredients of your own for your basket. his eyes widen.
"oh my god, i'm so sorry. i don't-" he cuts himself off. "i'm so tired."
confused at his sudden raw honesty with a stranger, he scratches the back of his head.
"don't worry about it," you reach for a bottle of your own. "i've been there."
his fingers tap the side of his basket.
"how did you cope?"
you smile at him.
"it's okay to take a break. i mean i don't know what you do for work," you gesture towards his tie. he looks down at it and chuckles. "but everyone deserves to rest."
he nods. he could cry, honestly. this is the first real, non-work-related conversation he's had in weeks.
"making something good?"
he laughs. "i can't remember."
your wrist spins your basket at your side. you do feel for this stranger. the second you walked into the aisle, you noticed how tired he looked. the vacant stare and slow blinks said it all.
"you need to eat."
he snorts. "i don't think i have the energy to cook anything. i'm trying to talk myself out of swapping all of this for a frozen pizza,"
you smile, holding up your basket, displaying just that.
"nothing wrong with that!"
every second kuroo spends talking to you in this too-crowded aisle is melting the stress from his shoulders. he's tired, so tired but he doesn't want this to end.
"i want to see you," he slides the basket further up his arm, patting his pockets with his palms. "again i mean. i want to see you again. can i?"
you look up at the handsome stranger again, smiling when you notice a grin of his own.
"s-sure. need a pen?"
"if you've got one. i don't think i'd be able to remember a phone number tonight."
you dig in your purse for a pen, flipping an old receipt over to scribble your name and number down for him. after you hand it to him, he repeats your name.
"i'm kuroo, kuroo tetsuro. sorry for not introducing myself earlier," he mumbles, suddenly feeling a little shy. his vulnerability catching up to him at last.
"well kuroo, i hope you remember to call." you place the frozen pizza in his basket and walk towards the check stands. "cause i would love to see you."
kuroo smiles wide, the words he was going to say dying on the tip of his tongue.
while he enjoys his frozen pizza that night, still in his work clothes on the couch, he calls you.
he decides before the sun even sets that he's calling out tomorrow. he's going to sleep in, as long as his body allows. and he's going to see you. but this time he will give you his full attention.
kuroo's not a believer in fate, but you just might make him one.

tw! alcohol
the shift is so subtle that had you known him just a little less, you would have missed it.
but as it is, there isn't anyone you know better, if the ring on your finger is any indication.
you lean into his side a bit more, emptying the rest of your drink before tilting up to peck at the edge of his jaw. "ready to go, honey?"
osamu presses into your touch as if on instinct, his smile soft and grateful, his arm around your waist flexing. "how did ya know?" his fingers squeeze at the outside of your thigh in appreciation before he takes your empty cup and stacks his over it and downs the meager dregs of his drink, too.
you smile back at him, watch his adam's apple bob when he swallows, marvel at how handsome he looks just doing the most mundane things. you shrug in answer, as if it hadn't been obvious only to you. it's in the tired droop of his eyes despite the little spark of contentment in them (imperceptible to anyone else), the slight sag of his broad shoulders. exhaustion was catching up to him, delayed by the initial joy of seeing his friends again. "let's go home."
he kisses your forehead, always reciprocating for every tender little action, before standing and bringing you up with him, grinning when you giggle.
you're side by side saying your goodbyes, feeling him squeeze your hand when you indulge his brother in "one more shot for the road", see the good-natured roll of his eyes out of the corner of yours right before you lean in to kiss a drunkenly enthusiastic atsumu goodbye on the cheek.
it may be the buzz of that last drink that brings heat seeping up into your face, but you have reason to believe it could just as well be the kiss osamu gives you just before he closes your car door for you, always the gentleman. that tender warmth doesn't leave you long after the alcohol has worn off, after all.

ADORABLE CHUBBY CHEEKS!!  ‹𝖧𝖠𝖨𝖪𝖸𝖴𝖴› 🏐
#pairing. Osamu, Hinata.
#genre. F!reader, Fluff, (d/n daughter's name), (s/n son's name).
#warning.. ‑
cute moments with the HQ boys kids
Tumblr media
OSAMU squints his eyes, carefully applying the melted chocolate on top of the cake with a swirl focusing on writing his daughter's name under the 'happy birthday' neatly on her first birthday mini vanilla cake that him and his wife made it by themselves
"PAPA" hearing her tiny voice made him frown his eyebrows In confusion, didn't he tell his wife that it has to be a 'surprise' by keeping d/n distracted, well she think that's stupid she's only 1 doesn't even know that, just a toddler.
turning his head toward her his face softened when he noticed her cute pink puffy dress and the white colored bow band around her head, the wobbly steps walking toward her father with a smile
placing the swirl on the counter he lift her up kissing her forehead, "will hello princess, Don't you look nice on that tiny dress?" she start giggling placing her tiny hands on her fathers cheeks, "since you're here why don't you help me, your mother ruined the surprise anyways" he frowned as he pulled her chair closer to the cake and placing her
connected the seat belt he sighed "Alright baby look" opening the high cabinet he toke the rainbow sprinkles out slightly shaking it then twisting the lid open "now look carefully princess, I'll show you how its done" he carefully applied it on top of the cake slightly sticking his tongue out while d/n mouth was open her sparkly eyes are on the colorful sprinkles craving on eating them alone instead
"your turn" handing it to her he watched her is her tiny arms reached to taking it away "alright just like ho-" he got interrupted by his daughter who raised her head and opened her mouth shaking the sprinkles in her mouth "NO" quickly taking the sprinkles away from her
"mmm" a few sprinkles went down her tongue sucking the flavors, but she pouted it wasn't enough to satisfy her, "its for the cake baby" he continued on adding more while his daughter was still tasting the flavor on her tongue sucking and biting on her lower lip
she looked so cute her feet dangling on her high chair, her big eyes that look exactly like him staring at the cake, those chubby cheeks and the smile that look exactly like her mothers probably his Favorite thing about both of them.
HINATA "I can go my fever isn't that bad shoyo" your eyes were half lidded with a runny nose and dirty used tissues were all over the bed and floor, it was obviously a lie "NO darling rest how is 39.2 C fever isn't bad, me and s/n will go buy groceries real quick, right little man?" looking down at his 6yrs old who looked up at him with a smile and raised his arms "YES" walking to his mom who was laying on bed with cool wet towel placed on her forehead, "don't worry mommy"he ran his little fingers on her sweaty hair.
putting s/n inside the kart he took the grocery list out of his back pocket "alright bud, here is the list mommy gave us" he handed the paper to him relying on him to read it, "you read and I'll push the kart ok?" s/n took it with excitement on his eyes as he nodded his head aggressively
Hinata pushed the cart to the dairy section “Read the first grocery”, the 6yrs old squints his eyes as he opened his mouth “eggs” looking around the fridges he smiled when he found the eggs “EGGS RIGHT THERE” he pointed with his index finger
his father smiled at him as he petted his head "good job little man" pushing the kart he grabbed the egg trey placing it on the kart "alright what's next?", s/n slid his index finger on the paper as he start to get sweaty at the long word he was trying to read "t-to-ma" rising his head to look at his father waiting for his help but he only nodded at him
"I know you can read it bud, just divide them remember?" giving him a closed eye smile and pulling the stroller to the side, "u-uhm" s/n gulped once again squints his eyes trying his best to read the 8 words, "See the first 4 words you can read that right?", the orange haired kid nodded his head "alright read it nice and slow"
taking a deep breath he started "toma" Hinata patted his head praising him "good job!, now the other 4 words" s/n hummed giggling at the word "toes" looking at his dad he connected the words "tomatoes!" rising his hand for a high-five, s/n slaped his palm on his "you did great baby, now to the vegetable section!"

lemon flavored scones | ushijima wakatoshi.
summary: he is forty five, and love tastes like lemon.
the word love dissolves in his mouth at age forty five, for what feels like the nth time. only now, he tastes it. the consonants and vowels of your name, and the aftertaste of lemon from that scone he always hears you talk about from that corner store down the road.
ushijima doesn’t remember the name or the specifics, the look of the scone, but he tastes it now.
love is a burst of lemon, the first and last letter of your name, and the scent of your scarf bundled up to your neck at this winter. and this morning, upon the daily five minute reminiscing he has over his morning coffee, he was seventeen and sounding out love, thinking the face is his classmate who sat in front of him during his last year. it wasn’t. love was the illusion that spring’s sakura brought in shades of pink. and over lunch, he was twenty five, and clapping at satori’s wedding, thinking that perhaps all love would ever be are the fruit of his passions staring at him in front of a mirror, hanging as gold on shelves. then at the stoplight, on the way to you, he was thirty seven, walking alone down the same road that he walked just an hour ago, thinking that the height of his love, in this world, would just be a word in his mouth that dissolves and stops. that there would never be a taste at the moment, and an aftertaste to be remembered. a flicker, a sample, a light tug, but never that pull.
so it’s funny, that at forty five-- today, and right now, love is sparked with a taste and a sight. love is this start. a fumble of words, like, “did i kiss you okay?” “shall i walk you home?” and a quiet minute, before taking your cold hand in his pocket and walking with you, giddy, like he’s twenty again and on his first date.
but then again, forty five is just a number, and love can be sakura or lemon scones regardless of the season or decade. and ushijima thinks that more than anything he wishes to walk through this slowly, around the block, right beside you, so he can savor the lemon he’s never tasted until today.

23:20 — communication
“hey...” you jolted as soon as you heard his raspy voice. sakusa raised his hand while chuckling. “i didn't know you're the jumpy type.”
he walked towards your side before placing a quick kiss on the top of your hair.
“why didn't you tell me you're coming back? i could've gone to the airport.”
he stood straight before taking off his clothes one after another.
“hmm... first of all, it's really late now. it's dangerous for someone as gorgeous as you to come outside just to see me. second, there was quite a crowd at the airport that we could barely make it out. i'm not sure how they've managed to slip in, but it happened. third, well... i just want to surprise you.”
you raised your brow. after spending several years with him, you learned that he loves to surprise someone—and prank them at the same time.
“...hm?”
you followed him to the bathroom while he sits inside the tub. you pulled one of the chairs inside and look at his beautiful eyes.
he chuckled. “you see, while we were overseas, i came across a video where they gaslit their friend into thinking that he's been comatosed for years.”
you giggled while shaking your head. this crazy dork.
“and how were you planning to do that to me?”
his eyes met your gaze before grinning.
“i'll try to sleep next to you without waking you up, but if you do, i'll pretend that i just woke up and have never left in the first place.”
you frowned.
“that's mean.”
“how is it mean?”
you fiddled with your fingers, refusing to say a word about how you felt while he was away. the emptiness you've felt while lying on your shared bed by yourself.
“nothing. don't mind me.”
with your response, he stood up without bothering to cover his lower half before walking towards you.
he reached for a spare towel and placed it on the floor before kneeling in front of you.
“hey, look at me, love.” he cupped your cheeks, forcing you too meet his gaze. “please tell me how i upset you.”
tears began to escape your eyes.
“you've been away for months. i've been waiting for you to come home. and... and...” you sobbed. “thinking about how you would've pretended that it never happened... it... felt so wrong...”
kiyoomi wrapped his arms around you, rubbing his hand against your back. you were upset, but it was enough to calm you.
“i'm sorry for making you feel that way,” he whispered before kissing your shoulder. “how can i make it up to you?”
you mumbled. he pulled away and look at you once again.
“hm? i didn't catch that.”
“date...” you whispered before meeting his gaze. “let's go on a date tomorrow? we could have an outdoor date or indoor date. i don't mind just lying on the couch. as long as i spend it with you.”
kiyoomi smiled.
“i'd love that.” he nodded before leaning in for a kiss.

Hello!!! I have arrived with a request
Dunno if this actually counts as fluff but it’s a silly request
(Sugawara x reader, mutual pining) Reader is one of karasunos managers, therefore they’re also on the training camps. One night they can’t sleep and they find sugawara still awake (writing and making up those strategies and hand signals for the team yknow) and they slowly tiptoe over next to his futon and sit down next to him and they spend some time going over it together. At some point reader falls asleep and sugawara pulls the blanket over them and tries to stay a respectful distance. Fast forward the next day, the team finds them practically cuddling up to eachother >:3c
Let me know if something’s unclear! I wrote this half asleep lmao
Sugawara x gn! reader
a/n: This is my first request…I hope you like it <3
Tumblr media
“I can’t sleep,” you mumble to yourself. You sigh as you carefully exit the room, making sure not to wake Kiyoko and Yachi. As you’re walking to grab a bottle of water, you hear mumbling coming from the guy's room. You poke your head in and see Suga talking to himself and writing something on paper. “Why’re you still up?” You whisper as you carefully walk over to his futon. He looks up at you and smiles. “Just making hand signals for us to use during games. Why’re you up?”. You smile and sit down next to him, saying, “I couldn’t sleep." There is a silence that looms over you both for a few seconds as you look at each other awkwardly. You finally break the silence. “So, could you show me the hand signals?”. He nods and starts showing you the hand signals and telling you what they mean.
As you both whisper back and forth, you end up lying on his futon. He keeps talking about different signals, and he looks at you, waiting for your response, and sees you asleep. He chuckles to himself and decides he’ll go to sleep too. He awkwardly lays down next to you, trying to keep a respectful distance between you both.
“So, should we wake them up?” Hinata asks as he looks at you and Suga cuddling each other in your sleep, your head on his chest and his arm wrapped around you. The whole team looks at you two, and then everyone looks at Daichi. “Just let them sleep,” he chuckles, and he ushers everyone, including himself, out of the room.
Suga groans as he wakes up. He blushes immediately when he notices the position you both are in. He slowly gets up, trying his best not to wake you. He leaves the room and is met by the rest of the team looking at him. “What happened last night, Suga?” Tanaka excitedly asks. “Tanaka, a man doesn’t kiss and tell, right?” Nishinoya smiles. “There was no kiss.” Suga states and sits beside Daichi. “But you wish there was, right?” Daichi jokes as he nudges Suga. “Shut up!” he laughs, trying to cover up the blush growing on his face.

cw f!reader , mild fraternal violence , atsumu’s terrible lying skills
“I know something you don’t know,” Osamu singsongs, standing in the doorway of their shared bathroom and peering over his brother’s shoulder at his reflection in the mirror.
“Yeah?” Atsumu grunts, yanking a comb through his hair and glaring back at his twin. “Spit it out, shitty ‘Samu. I got places to be, you know?”
“Ouch, don’t shoot the messenger,” Osamu drawls, leaning against the doorframe. “I know that you have a date tonight and you think you’re being sneaky about it.”
“Do not,” Atsumu scowls immediately, dropping the comb and turning around, because he is the worst liar ever. “I don’t even—what are you—I’m taking myself on a date, how about that, it’s called self care, ever heard of it? Huh? Okay? Huh?”
“Okay,” Osamu says, “You’re wearing a tie.”
“I can wear a tie if I want to,” Atsumu sneers, fiddling with it.
“Last summer, at Uncle Jun’s wedding, Ma had to literally threaten to shave your head to get you to wear one.”
“I’m a man now,” Atsumu sticks his chin up, examining his jaw. “I can wear a tie. Hey, did I miss anything while I was shaving?”
“You don’t have any facial hair to shave. And you have a hickey right there.”
“What? Seriously? Where?” Atsumu panics, turning back and forth.
“Ha, I got you—hey!!! Don’t hit me, asshole! I’ll tell Ma!!! And you—you left your fucking bouquet out on my desk, by the way. I told you to stop putting your stuff—no I swear I’ll kill you get offa me get off!—on my desk just because yours is too messy!”
“It was there for five seconds! You left all your laundry on my bed the other day—“
“Where was I s’posed to put it, the floor?”
“Your closet!” Atsumu roars. “Oh, shit, what time is it?” He drops his brother’s shirt collar abruptly.
“5:30,” Osamu says, dusting himself off. “What time you gotta be there?”
“She’s walkin’ over here now, probably,” Atsumu says, rushing back to the bathroom. “Fuck, well since you know, can I use your cologne?”
“It’s the same one you have?”
“It’s better, I don’t know,” Atsumu argues. “Just gimme it, it’s like one spritz.”
“Fine,” Osamu grumbles. “Hey, ‘Tsumu, I know something else you don’t know.”
“What,” Atsumu rolls his eyes as he walks around, frantically shoving his keys and wallet into his pockets, picking up the bouquet—delicate red and white flowers, not bad, scrub, thinks Osamu.
“This ain’t your first date,” he says smugly.
“What are you, Sherlock Holmes?” His brother says. “How d’you figure that?”
Osamu mock-stretches before counting off on his fingers. “One, you never walk home with me and Suna anymore. Two, there’s some flowery shit that appeared in our shower, and I know I didn’t buy it, and you’re not walkin’ around smelling like lavender and honey, so you’ve gotta be sneakin’ someone in. Three, you came to practice two weeks ago with an actual hickey, y’know, when you kept missing sets ‘cause you were in such a good mood.”
Atsumu blinks at him, finally lost for words.
“And,” Osamu says, tone somewhat gentler. “You seem a lot happier lately. Less, y’know, hard on yourself. Whoever it is, I think she’s good for you.”
“Thanks,” Atsumu says, swallowing roughly. “You’re so sappy.”
“Says the guy holding the flowers.” And trying not to let his eyes water over, but Osamu doesn’t say that bit. He can spare some of his brother’s dignity.
“It’s our six-month anniversary,” Atsumu says quietly. “Please don’t tell Ma yet, okay? She’s always on about volleyball bein’ enough of a distraction from school, I know she thinks dating is too. I just wanna—I want her to like my—”
He says your name just as the doorbell rings.
“Her? You’re dating—?” Osamu’s tone is incredulous. “Hold on, you can’t go yet. She’s like a million times out of your league—”
“I know!” Atsumu beams at him. “Keep your mouth shut or you’ll regret it. Tell Ma I’m sleeping at the dorms with Suna. Bye!”

What if...?
Tumblr media
Nishinoya and you are best friends and never once questioned anything about your friendship, until a series of questions ended up turning your friendship on it's head. This will be a multi part fic since it got a bit long.
CW: Alcohol, but only mentions of drinking. Just friends kissing.
PT 2.
Tumblr media
"What if we kiss?" was asked so matter-of-factly that you almost missed it. Maybe it was because it was said at your graduation party and he was headed out of the country the next day or maybe it was the alcohol talking, but it definitely wasn't a question you expected from your best friend. Then again it was spontaneous enough to have come from him.
"You should really cut back on the alcohol, Noya."
"Yuu," he tightened his grip on the glass. He wasn't nervous, far from it, he was confident that you'd say yes. He was just a little annoyed that after years, no, nearly two decades of friendship that you still called him Noya.
"What?" You raised your brow.
"We've been friends for fifteen years, I think it's about time you call me by my given name." You bit your lip knowing he was right, but you never thought it was something that bothered him. You also had to admit that you really loved calling him 'Noya' and 'Nishi'.
"Okay. But back to your earlier question," You traced the rim of the glass you held as you stared at your lap. "Are you sure?"
"Kinda always wanted to do it. Besides I'm leaving tomorrow so why not?"
You hated how carefree he was sometimes. How could he ask you something like that as if he was asking to borrow a pencil, but you had to admit it was an idea you tied with yourself. All the playful flirting never got in the way of your friendship and if it got awkward at least he was leaving the country for a while so time could take care of it. With a drawn out sigh you placed your glass onto the table and looked up at your friend. "Sure. But promise me it won't be weird. Like it won't ruin our friendship." You knew that neither of you could make such a promise. You knew that you just wanted reassurance, no matter how empty.
"Promise," he held out his pinky and smiled when you hooked yours around it. Before you had a chance to pull away he pulled into his arms and his lips were on yours. Noya never did anything half assed, never went into any situation with caution– he either jumped in head first or not at all and the same went for kissing. His hands cupped your face as he swallowed your moans. The kiss was passionate, one you didn't expect to share with someone you had never thought of in a romantic light. His thumbs caressed your cheeks as your kiss deepened; his tongue gliding alongside yours only setting your body alight. You leaned into it even more as you felt his fingers tickle the nape of your neck. Your fingers clutched his shirt as you started to climb onto his lap and he made no attempt to stop you. Your head was swimming as you lost yourself in the kiss only being pulled out of your haze when you heard someone clearing their throat.
"Do you guys mind taking this somewhere else?" Tsukki stood near the couch frowning down at you.
"No, here's just fine." Noya smiled up at him as Tsukishima clenched his jaw before turning on his heels. You couldn't help but laugh as you fell into him. "We probably should get going anyways," Noya kissed your cheek before standing up. "Ready?"
The next day was like any other time when he went overseas. You hugged each other, promising to keep in touch. Just like promised, it didn't get awkward.
Almost four months later he was back in Japan. You caught each other up on your lives apart. You regaled him with your boring work stories and dating horror stories. His stories, while more exciting, seemed to bore him.
You headed back to his place and decided to watch your favorite movie together. You felt the couch cushion shift as he moved closer. "Can I kiss you again?" This time his question was more cautious. The kiss was never brought up again,  everything went back to normal– as if nothing ever happened, but that didn't mean he never wanted to do it again. You nodded and soon the movie was forgotten.
He decided to stay in Japan for a year and you started to spend more time together. The kissing became commonplace, yet somehow you managed to maintain your friendship without any awkwardness.
Once again it was the day before another overseas departure and again an attempt was made at watching a movie at his place. Said attempt failed as you found your lips locked once more. Noya pulled away, tucking some hair behind your ear. He wanted to say something, you had known him long enough to know his tells. His hand moved down to your neck, his fingertips delicately tracing circles against your soft skin.
"Yuu?"
