without getting too deep into what happened in this issue OR what's currently going on w/ steve mentally because it's a lot, this conversation between steve and sam ( all those quotes are sam, btw ) summarizes painfully the situation share has found herself in time and time again through no fault of her own. at her core she is loyal AF and someone who will always offer help to those she cares about, even if it means sacrificing herself ( or in this case as sam points out, fighting to the point of barely being able to keep herself upright ) without a second thought or hesitation.

and in return for that loyalty, there have been too many instances where she gets left behind once her usefulness is spent. she's been told time and time again that she's only useful until she isn't. that's not to say this comes as a surprise to her -------- she always knew going into this profession that she was an asset, a means to an end for someone else. but for her there's a difference in it being purely professional  /   being an operative and that abandonment coming from someone she cares for and trusts. ** and if we're talking her relationship with steve in particular, the lines about her following him into fire but being the one to get burned is so accurate it hurts. she's been targeted by his enemies before because of her proximity to cap; she's been manipulated and brainwashed in order to be used as an asset against him on multiple occasions. she's the one who gets her hands dirty in situations where steve can't because of the whole cap persona and mythos. she does the things he can't because she doesn't have the shield or the weight that comes along with it. in a way she's more free than he is to explore the gray, but no matter what, she's always going to be the one who ends up getting burned in the end.

I sound absolutely deranged because these are both hardly noticeable, but the way some of Tsutsumi's failed attempts to shoot action scenes have left lasting marks like his (super faint) forehead scar and his "crooked" pinky work really well for a character like Jo (I mean, I exaggerate the scar greatly in my art and the latter isn't even modeled + is easier to see in motion I promise, but still).

I think Jo's liable to get pretty banged-up in his line of work so it's just kind of cool how that works out. Also, lightning scars are sick...
