The past week had been a very difficult one for me. The intense stress of a personal family situation showed. I had been waking up at 4 am, feeling breathless and anxious, and then I found it difficult to go back to sleep. So, I’d sit up till either the anxiety ebbed away, or I felt sleepy again.
On Sunday, I woke up at 4.30 and, unable to go back to sleep, I looked out of the window. The sky was still dark, and a few stray windows had lights on in them. The room felt hot, airless, and my heart was beating fast, the way it does when your pressure is elevated. I prayed because what else can one do when everything seems out of your control. And then I sat looking outside, as I tried to calm down and figure out how to handle things. I do not know how over an hour went by, but I noticed light breaking out across the sky, turning it from jet black to a deep grey that kept getting lighter. Buildings slowly started appearing and the lights in them kept fading. The mellow morning sunlight painted a high rise in sunrise colours and bounced of its windows with yellow gold intensity. The incoming dawn felt like a relief. The morning air was fresh, untainted as yet by the sorcery of money and greed. The freshness of the morning was refreshing and calming.
Every morning, with dawn, God sends out hope against darkness: It’s a brand-new day. Try again today. Things could be different.

crash the crush.
Tumblr media
pairings : senior student!xiaojun x sophomore student!reader warnings : profanity, underage drinking, mentions of drugs genre : fluff, a bit of crack? highschool!au word count : 4.3k
summary : what are the odds of crashing into your crush during the neighborhood-friendly run and mutual friends party?
You were pissed off when your mum said you need to work your lazy ass off. Well, if it's on the summer break, you'll most likely agree with her. But it's only the weekend, and you've been studying your ass off these days. A lazy weekend is something you earned, but your mum decided to rain on your lazy parade.
With all those groans and deep sighs, you storm off your house wearing your workout gear. Not much, only a windbreaker jacket paired with shorts and running shoes. Popping your airpods on both of your ears to blast some jams, you take some light jogging steps on your neighborhood. It's only 4.30 pm, and kinda windy, why the fuck are you doing this? That's right, because mum literally compared you to your neighbor's daughter, Giselle, who recently won a karate tournament. Now mum won't even shut up how much she wants an active daughter, not the lazy one. Yikes.
Back to the streets by Saweetie & Jhene Aiko plays, and you hear a message notification on your airpods. Still on your light jogs, you glance at the notification.
yeri<3 : yo yeri<3 : wyd
You stop jogging for a while to write your bestfriend back. It's saturday, she's probably asking you to hangout along with the gang. Yeri gets easily bored at home and in constant need of hanging out.
y/n : running  💃 💃 💃 y/n : mum said i need to be giselle
You continue your pace while waiting for her reply. You can see your neighborhood clearly now, seeing the details, since you always go to school in a sleepy state, not really noticing the environment, and also going home from school mostly sleeping in your brother's car.
The notification rings again. It must be Yeri.
yeri<3 : bitch thats a dancing emoji yeri<3 : running in a weather like this? yeri<3 : damn straight u wanna be giselle
You chuckle as you’re about to type the messages once more, the weather is fine, what the hell is she talking about? But then Yeri is still typing.
yeri<3 : n e ways yeri<3 : party at lucas' 8pm yeri<3 : be there or be fucking square 💀 💀 💀
You sigh. There she goes. No other option than tag along with her, but it's not like you hate it anyway. Lucas' party is always awesome, you and your friends also will get a VIP pass because he's a good friend of yours too, despite the fact that you're not even in the same grade as him, he's one year above you and Yeri.
y/n : weather is nice dont jinx it y/n : fine but pick me up y/n : cuz doyoung won't let me drive his car
You send the messages to Yeri to prove her the weather is fine, and indicates that you agree to go to Lucas' house tonight, it's a great night to probably get wasted after all those tiring run mum decided to toss on you. It's gonna be fun, anyways. But the thing about hanging out with Lucas and his senior friends.. You might've developed a big fat crush with one of Lucas' closest friends, Xiaojun.
You barely had an interaction with him, though, because he's usually the quiet and calm one in Lucas' closest friends group. Lucas himself is already so fucking loud, not to mention Hendery, the good-looking clown and moodmaker. There's also Jungwoo, the one who looks very calm but actually won't shut up once you talk to him. Mark too, the giggly one with some lame jokes. Well, going to Lucas' party tonight means you can see Xiaojun, probably getting the chances that you'll have some interaction over some boozes or something is also quite high.
After feeling all warmed up, you decide to give yourself a run around the block. Yeri's right, it's a funny weather to run. It's windy, but the more you stay outside, the cloud is getting darker and darker. You also knew that you're not really alone, who's doing this athletic bullshit in this kind of weather, you noticed that a boy is also doing this silly run when you were typing messages to Yeri. Probably just another neighbor's child being scolded by his mum of how Giselle is so athletic that his mum also wants an active son? Welp, you didn't see his face anyway, you were glued to the phone when you saw the figure running from the side.
It's not even a minute after you started running, Yeri already replied again. Is she really that bored that she doesn't have anything to do?
yeri<3 : ok i'll pick u up at 7 yeri<3 : um.. its fucking raining, y/n yeri<3 : go home and take a shower yeri<3 : pick ur clothes and put on some makeup instead yeri<3 : its saturday night, activate your hoe protocol yeri<3 : mr xiaojun is going to be there tonight
You stop running and stare at her messages. Raining? Is she drunk or what? It's not even 5pm yet and here she is, hallucinating-
Oop. There it goes. You feel some water drops on your head. Your hand. It was slow at first, but then the raindrops are getting harder and harder, it's pouring.
"Motherfu-" you let out a curse, you should've trusted Yeri on this. As an intuitive homo sapiens with XX chromosomes, you scan through the streets, looking for some shelter to wait the rain to stop. Spotting a bus stop with a large steel canopy, you run like your life depended on it, avoiding the rain.
Finally arriving, you sigh and sit on the installed chair, typing messages to Yeri.
y/n : omg bitch ur right its raining y/n : should've pretended im dead in my room so mum wont bug me y/n : u know what after the rain ends im gonna sprint back home and take a fucking shower y/n : the universe doesnt like it when im trying to be giselle, it gave me rain instead
You sigh as you shuffle through your playlist, looking for some fun jams to pass your time through the rain, when somebody suddenly approaches you.
"Hi, do you mind if I take a seat here?" a boy asks, pointing to the chair next to you. You look up, and suddenly the next thing you wanna do is ascend your soul the fuck out of your body to the sky.
Oh boy. It's Xiaojun. The boy you won't shut up about. He’s wearing a white loose tank and grey sweatpants, drenched in his own sweat. Oh god. This is truly an attack for you. What the fuck is he doing here? And why must you meet him at your mess like being all salty because of those running fiasco and the rain? While wearing your not-so-fashionable workout gear and not-so-tidy ponytails? Oh god.
You can feel your heart is about to explode when you realize that he is actually the person who is also doing the stupid running at this very weather, you just didn't notice it sooner because you were on your damn phone. Damn, mum was right, everything happened because you were always on your damn phone.
"No, of course! Take a seat!" you answer him, trying your best to crack your sweetest smile although it's more like sweatiest not sweetest.
He smiles back at you, taking a seat next to you, then his eyes get back to his phone, completely glued. Damn this is the only cardio that is worth it, no running, no jumping, no huff that huff this, only sitting next to Xiaojun on a rainy day on a bus stop. Wonderful.
You quickly whip up the messaging app to type all kinds of gibberish and send it to Yeri. She knows what shit is about to go down when you speak gibberish to her.
y/n : FUCKJSHSJJSKSJK YERI y/n : OH MY FUCKING GOD SJSGSJSHSKJSK
Lucky you, Yeri has nothing to do than respond to your messages, she stays put on the chat room.
yeri<3 : OMG BITCH WHAT yeri<3 : SKSHSJJSKS YOU SCARED ME
y/n : HE's FUCKING HERE AHSJSHSJEK
yeri<3 : OMG WHOS HE?? yeri<3 : THE DEVIL??? IS HE GONNA TAKE UR SOUL? SKEJSJKSKSK
y/n : XIAOJUN y/n : TURNS OUT HE ALSO LIVES IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD
yeri<3 : ASKJSJSKSK WHAT yeri<3 : HOW
y/n : KAHSKSJKS omg bitch y/n : i was sheltering myself from the goddamn rain y/n : im in bus stop rn y/n : this angel came to accompany me y/n : HE WAS RUNNING TOO OMG y/n : omg yeri just so u know if im not there when u pick me up y/n : its bc im in church getting married with my man xiaojun
yeri<3 : BITCH OMG SKSKSKSKK yeri<3 : GET MARRIED RN yeri<3 : WAIT dont waste the chance yeri<3 : talk to him rn!!!
You swear you're about to scream when Yeri sends that. She was actually right, this is your chance to talk to him, considering that you didn't really interact that much with him. But really? He didn't even say a word when he sat, probably didn't even remember your name? The disappointment slowly gets into your head.
You freeze on the spot. torn between wanting to talk to him and just let it slide, you'll see him again tonight as Lucas' house, right?
Just when you decide to give up and not say a word, he turns his head to you.
"Hey, I didn't know you live in this neighborhood too," he starts.
Oh god. If every time your heart beats fast you get a dollar, you'd probably have your own private island by now.
You try to play it cool when actually on the inside you wanna scream I LIKE YOU to his face rn. "Oh? Oh yes, my house is number 13." you answer calmly,
He cracks a smile, “13? You’re Doyoung’s little sister?”
Oh god. What the fuck is this clownery? He knows Doyoung? Why and how? At this rate you just wanna evaporate to the rain, what if Doyoung actually knows that you liked Xiaojun and he spills it? Oh god.
You smile back at him, holding the panic you’ve been keeping since he mentioned Doyoung’s name. “Yep. I’m his sister.”
“Oh god, why didn’t I notice that earlier? I could’ve taken care of you at school!” he exclaims, and you sure you just wanna evaporate to the rain. Him? Taking care of you at school? YES PLEASE!
You let out a small giggle, trying to be as calm as possible when in reality you’re very sure you just wanna melt like a goddamn popsicle on a hot summer day. “So, how do you know my brother, actually?”
He laughs a bit, wiping away the sweat on his forehead. Oh god, he’s just so beautiful. “Well.. Doyoung and I used to be a dynamic duo in the school's choir, until he graduated.”
Oh, that. Doyoung is pretty serious about his career in the school’s choir, but you did not expect that Xiaojun is actually a part of it. Of course, he has the face of an angel, the voice is included.
“Now I know why Doyoung never let me come to his house. Turns out he has a cute- I mean, h-he has a sister, and that’s you! M-Maybe he’s afraid I’ll bother you or s-something.” he continues, stuttering a bit, and letting out an awkward laugh. You laugh again, feeling the blood rushing to your cheeks that you can’t hide no more. DID HE JUST SAY DOYOUNG HAS A CUTE SISTER? DID HE JUST SAY YOU’RE CUTE? DID HE-
But then, good things always come to an end. The goddamn rain stops. Oh fuck, no more chitter chatter with the dear crush. Just when it is the fucking time you need to hear the goddamn wedding bells, the rain decided to stop on your rain parade. Fuck.
He looks up, and seems like noticing the rain has stopped. “Well, Y/n. Lucas is having a party tonight, are you coming?”
You can feel your cheeks are still heating from his words, you shyly nod to him. Welp, maybe the rain has stopped, but this stupid crush? No. It goes on. Very much.
He stands up, straightening his white loose tank, getting ready to probably sprint back home. “Okay. See you tonight then, I’m going home. Have a good run!” he says as he walks away from the bus stop, leaving you dumbfounded. And lovestruck. That’s a win, alright.
Xiaojun slowly fades away from your view, and you’re still drowning on your pool of love. Yep, that’s it. You can’t even hold it, you quickly dial Yeri’s number to break out the news.
“What is it, Y/n? You literally left me on read for like 14 minutes straight and now you-”
“YERI LISTEN I’M GETTING MARRIED TONIGHT AND THAT’S A FUCKING FACT!” you shout to the phone, you can picture Yeri is probably goggling out her eyes right now.
“Girl, just because Xiaojun just asked you why the fuck were you running at times like this it doesn’t mean-”
“HE CALLED ME CUTE!” you blurted out, cutting her sentences for the second time,
“-you’re getting married- WHAT?? HE CALLED YOU WHAT?” Yeri yelled from the phone, now it’s pretty clear that Yeri is probably jumping her ass off right now.
You sprint your way to home, while holding your phone to your ears, continuing to give Yeri the details about the bus stop conversation you had earlier. Now she’s just yelling at you to pick the right dress and pamper yourself up, the probability you’ll marry Xiaojun at Lucas’ party is increasing. Sure it does.
-------
It’s 11.28 PM, 3 hours and a half since you and Yeri just arrived at Lucas’ house, escaping from Doyoung’s warning to you, to get back in one piece, and most importantly, sober. As if you’re gonna leave Lucas’ house sober, that’s funny, alright. You and Yeri were greeted by Yangyang and Donghyuck, who are currently setting up the table for snacks and drinks. That was probably the first time you saw Donghyuck ever setting up something, because if not, Jungwoo would’ve set his ass on fire.
The party madness has started, seems like everybody already has enough alcohol running on their system. Lucas is already losing his shirt and starts twerking in the middle of his house along with Jaemin and Jungwoo. Ah yes, the thot trio already started their thing, and all you have to do is just stay back and avoid getting dragged to the dance mess, because the chance of Jungwoo and Jaemin will start grinding at you is kinda high right now.. Considering their.. Twerking fiasco.
You sit back on the couch and watch your friends getting crazy over the playlist Yangyang made just for this event, sipping on your cocktails that Donghyuck put god-knows-what in it, he said it’s just cherry juice mixed with gin and brandy, but somehow it tastes kinda citrusy. You glance to the right, only to see Yeri making out with some random guy (probably one of Lucas’ friends named Changbin but oh well, that’s Yeri’s business).
Slightly grossed out and sad because apparently you’re not making out with Xiaojun right now, you make your way to the patio, and find the crowd that circle around a spinning bottle. Interested, you join Jeno, Mark, Renjun, Yeji, Hyunjin, Sungchan, Karina, Vernon, Hendery, and of course, the (hottest) most important person right now, Xiaojun.
“Welcome! As a newly joined member.. Truth or dare?” Jeno greets you as you take a seat between Mark and Sungchan. Well, you’d love to sit beside Xiaojun, but apparently, that seat is already taken by Hendery and Vernon.
You silently glance at Xiaojun, who is wearing a denim jacket with light-yellow knit top underneath, paired with white trousers. Damn, he looks so damn good that you wanna cry a river.
Your head comes back to the question Jeno asked. Today’s your day, be bold or bald. It’s time. “Well, I’m not gonna put my drunk antics to waste. Dare then.” you answer boldly, earning a few ‘ooooh’s from your friends.
Jeno snickers. Well, fuck. Guess you’re a bit too damn bold tonight, the realization suddenly hits you like a fucking trainwreck, Jeno is kinda extreme for games like this. Wrong choice, y/n. You gulp as you wait for Jeno to come up with something.
“I dare you to kiss Xiaojun!” Jeno exclaims, clapping both of his hands like a goddamn happy seal. Mark and Hendery are high-fiving right now, throwing whistles around Xiaojun, who is silent as a fucking rock.
Oh god. Things you’ve said about not putting your drunk antics to waste should’ve stayed in that goddamn draft. This is where Jeno takes you, even though you’re secretly happy that you finally get to kiss your goddamn crush, that shit is EMBARRASSING. If you wanna evaporate to the waters, then it’s probably the right time to do it.
But why Xiaojun though? Is your big fat crush on him too obvious?
You freeze on the spot as you awkwardly smile and stare at Jeno. This shit can’t be real. Jeno is goddamn crazy. You can feel the air is getting hot, whether it’s because the alcohol starts kicking in, or just because the blood is rushing through your head.
“Scared, aren’t you?” Jeno taunts you, sipping his beer as the rest of the group laugh except you and Xiaojun, who is currently staring at you with a questionable expression. Is he pleased? Or is he pissed? Oh god.
“I-I’m not!” you answer him, leaning to Xiaojun, gulping once more before asking him, “You’re okay with this though?”
Xiaojun smirks, “How can I say no to you?” he asks back, accompanied by a few ‘ayyy~’ from the boys, sending butterflies to your stomach. Your face is probably as red as a tomato by now.
Good god. Is this the same Xiaojun who is quiet, calm, and collected among his friends? Why suddenly he is so bold? Oh, he’s probably just drunk and won’t remember this kiss anyway.. You lean closer to him, closing the gap between his face and yours by sealing the kiss. His lips are soft yet firm, almost like a grape jelly you had earlier this afternoon, with a hint of vodka, of course.
After a few seconds, you finally pull out and linger your eyes on him. It’s beautiful, and mesmerizing. You just wish that you can see it again, and only for you, no one else. As you get back to your seat, you take one more last glance at him, that is currently also glancing at you, with his cheeks red.
Okay. You definitely heard the wedding bells, thanks Jeno. That’s probably one of your dreams, and thanks to Jeno, it came true. But unfortunately, Xiaojun probably won’t feel the same, or worse, he’ll probably forget about it tomorrow.
Everyone claps, exchanging happy exclaims and cheers as if you just said ‘I do’ to Xiaojun lol, when in reality, you were just doing the dare Jeno gave you. You gulp bitterly as the game goes on and on.
-----
It’s an hour past midnight, 1.12 AM to be exact. Thank god you’re not that shitfaced, but Yeri is. She is not even capable of doing anything anymore except being all smiley and shit, Changbin already drove her home like fifteen minutes ago, leaving you behind in Lucas’ lair. You suddenly felt the urge to thank god that Yeri made a fantastic decision last minute before picking you up, she used a taxi instead of driving. If she hadn’t, you’re probably stuck driving her home right now.
You scan through the house while leaning through the stair railings, looking for an easy target to get a free ride. Finally spotted your friends, you now have 3 choices : Donghyuck (who is currently seducing some random girl), Yangyang (who is now playing mobile games with Jaemin and Chenle), or Mark (who recently just hit a goddamn blunt, but he’s very capable to drive).
You sip your glass of water, making up your mind for your ride home. But then, suddenly someone taps on your shoulder.
“Do you wanna go home? Like, right now? I can drive you- I mean, our house is like, near.” you hear Xiaojun speaking to you, holding his car keys on his left hand.
Good gracious, is this even real? Like, Xiaojun, is actually asking you to go home with him? Is this real? Or are you just hallucinating from the goddamn weed you take 10 minutes ago from Lucas?
You stare at him blankly. He bit his lip, “I mean- If you wanna stay longer- or probably-”
“Yes, of course! Let’s go.” you smile at him, cutting off his words.
3 times in a day. Good job, Y/n! The wedding is up ahead!
He smiles and gives you a gesture, “Ladies first.”
-
The drive is not as awkward as you thought. Turns out, Xiaojun is full of surprise though, you nearly choked when he said he once formally apologized to Doyoung before he stood up to defend the dignity of Mint Chocolate Chip flavored ice cream. It’s delightful to find out that he has similar tastes as you, from ice cream flavor to music and school subjects.
Xiaojun also told you the reason why he was on the run earlier, he was bored. Damn, look at it, the difference between a forced daughter whose mum wants an active child, and a bored model-student. He said he didn’t expect to see you because he was embarrassed, he was drenched in sweat.
You can feel the butterflies on your stomach grow wilder and wilder from every word he said, or maybe it’s just the way he smiles when he talks to you? Welp, if it’s anything to do with Xiaojun, you’ll most likely get butterflies.
Just when you thought he was drunk, he is not. He’s capable of driving you home and carrying on some fun convos, also remembering little things. So.. perhaps, he is not going to forget the kiss you shared because of Jeno’s dare?
As you keep on exchanging conversation with him, suddenly it’s time to get off his car and get back to your house, get ready to deal with Doyoung’s nags and scolds for getting home this late.
You giggle as you take the seat belt off, smiling at the brown haired boy.
“Thank you for driving me home, Xiaojun. It was fun.” you say to him, waving him goodbye as you open the door. He smiles and waves back at you.
Just when you’re about to open the gate of your house, you hear the sound of slamming car doors. You turn around and see Xiaojun standing in front of you, eyes sparkling like a goddamn star. Unfortunately, it’s not Christmas.. If it is, all you want for Christmas is to stare at Xiaojun’s beautiful eyes all day, and probably get married to him.
“Um.. Y/n.. I don’t know how to say this but.. The kiss you gave me earlier, it’s kinda..” he starts, smiling sheepishly.
Oh god, what now? It’s kinda what? Gross? You swear you’ll kill Jeno if you hear that from Xiaojun.
You gaze at him as you wait for him to complete his sentences.
“It’s kinda.. Making me feel.. Things.” he finally continues, rubbing the back of his neck while looking away from you, flustered. It’s pretty cute.
You giggle at him a little, the butterflies come back, or maybe they never even left?
“Don’t laugh, Y/n. I’m being honest, I was pretty embarrassed to run into you during sheltering, and now you’re laughing at me for-”
You let out a big laugh before you pull him to another kiss. This one is a bit longer, more passionate and intimate, unlike the one you had before. He cups your cheek as you feel him smiling during the kiss.
“I’m sorry if I invaded your privacy- but your fast typing was very.. Intriguing.. I might’ve seen you texting Yeri at the bus stop.” he giggles after you pull out from the kiss.
Yikes. You feel like you’re about to burst now. He saw you texting Yeri? What kind of clownery is this? Did he see you typing- oh god, that’s too embarrassing to remember.
“No! That’s too embarrassing!” you cover your face, he laughs once more.
“Now, which church are we going to? I’m pretty sure you said we’re getting married tonight, right?” he takes your hands off your face, grinning widely.
You pout and lightly hit him, only to be attacked by his hugs a second later. Aww, finally, dreams do come true. You stay on his embrace for a few more minutes, no talking, just comfortable silence and realization that you’re on Xiaojun’s arms right now.
You glance at your watch, Doyoung would be furious by now. Telling him that you really have to go before Doyoung can rise from his sleep and beat your ass, you finally wave goodbye to him as he gets back to his car.
Finally entering the house, you’re greeted by Doyoung who’s standing in front of you, holding a bowl of salad on his right hand.
“So, kissing Xiaojun in front of my salad?” he raises his eyebrow.
You stick out your tongue as you make your way upstairs. Technically, not in front of Doyoung’s salad, because the door was closed. He’s probably looking through the window, such a nosy brother. You laugh at the thought of Doyoung getting furious while eating his salad as you get a message.
Xiaojun : so, see you at school? Xiaojun : can’t wait to hold your hand on monday ;)

----------
It’s three in the morning when the darkness is annihilated by his bedside lamp. He should still be sleeping, but the turmoil in his mind kept him awake for the better half of the past hours. With a heavy sigh, he sat up, rubbing sleep out of his eyes.
After his father went to his room, Ethan practically threw himself towards his phone. He was greeted with her voice, making his pulse jump. She would tease him if she knew just how strong her hold on him was, so he was glad that she couldn’t see him in that moment.
“How was the chicken?” Claire asked, letting out a sigh he heard multiple of times when she finally relaxed after a long day.
“You’ll see for yourself tomorrow. I managed to save you a serving, Dad ate most of it.” he laughed, thinking about how much crap he would get from Alan if he heard him admitting that to her.
“Stop talking about food, it’s too late for me to sneak into the kitchen and grab a snack. Change the subject.” She laughed, scolding him the same amount as she was scolding herself for even bringing it up in the first place.
“What were you up to this evening?”
“Sienna baked cookies- dammit! We’re walking in circles.” Her laugh put a smile on his face, her words ringing in his mind, as they were about more than their conversation topics and they both knew it. “I will steal a couple and bring them to you tomorrow.”
“Those cookies of hers must be stellar if there are legends about them, circling around the hospital… and I know that from Naveen.” He rushed to explain, unsure how he felt about her being aware he knew a rumor or two.
Claire giggled shortly. “I’m sure you do. Anyway, it’s getting late and we both have an early shift in the morning. I’ll see you tomorrow, Ethan.” Her voice wrapped around his name, a tender caress that made his heart skip a beat, as cliché as that sounded.
“We’ll talk in the morning. Sleep well, Claire.”
He tried to occupy himself with something, anything to not think about her. The way her eyes sparkled when they moved around his kitchen with an ease of two people who were familiar with each other. The way she fit into his arms like she was made for him to hold her. How her lips moved against his, wiping his mind blank and leaving only the feeling of her. How she pulled him back inside and they made out against the wall like a pair of teenagers.
Yeah, she was definitely a good influence on him.
So that’s how he got to where he was now. Dead of the night, wide awake and getting out of bed. Sure, we went to work around 4.30 in the morning quite often, but it didn’t require him to wake up that early.
However, preparing a lunchbox for Claire, purely because he was an overachiever and he made his point to see a smile on her face, apparently required him to wake up at the break of dawn and move around his apartment as quietly as he could, because if his dad woke up and saw him putting so much effort into preparing food for her, he would not hear the end of it.
He rummaged through his cabinet, taking out a container for food, then took out the leftover chicken and placed it on the counter. Taking the knife into his hand, he proceeded to chop and transfer neatly cut pieces into the box, trying to make as little noise as he could. But even that turned out to be impossible.
“Ethan, is everything okay? It’s so early, you don’t have to leave for work for another hour, so why are you- oh.” Alan’s tired voice shattered the tranquility of the early morning, then the sleepy figure of an older man appeared in the doorway. He was about to ask further questions but was stopped when he saw what exactly it was that got his son out of the bed so early. “Oh.”
“Don’t ‘oh’ me. I’m just-“
“You’re just preparing food for her, because she is important to you. Because you care about her. We’ve been over this, Ethan.” The doctor sighed deeply, shaking his head at the easy smile that pulled on his lips.
“Okay, yes. I woke up an hour early to prepare food for her. Because I want to see her smile. There, happy?”
“Immensely.”
--------------
Ethan used to be one of a few doctors that started his work this early. It was not the case, at least not anymore. He parked his car by the employee’s entrance and turned the engine off, taking a deep breath. He then reached for his bag, lunch box inside, and grabbed the door handle when he heard soft knocking on the window.
At first, all he heard was incoherent mumble; once he got out of the car, he could hear her clearly. “Good morning, Dr. Ramsey.” Claire greeted him lightly, leaning against the hood of his car with a cheeky grin.
“You are uncharacteristically happy this morning, Dr. Herondale. Did something happen?” he kept up their teasing banter, allowing himself to let his guard down just a little. She nodded her head from side to side, scrunching her nose as she pretended to think. Then her face lit up like she just remembered what happened between them the previous evening, and her cheeks flushed.
“I seem to remember a man walking me out of his apartment and some… activities that took place afterwards. He did also promise me we would talk about it… just didn’t say when.” She tapped her finger on her chin, then took a step towards him, dropping her voice to a whisper. “So… got any suggestions?”
His gaze dropped to her lips for a fraction of a second before he composed himself, clearing his throat. “Maybe… after work… it’s a rather long and personal conversation that he wants to have with you.”
Claire nudged his arm with her hand, smiling at him brightly. “Sounds like a plan.” Her eyes ran to the bag in his hand. “What do you have in there?”
“Your lunch.” He reached for the lunch box and handed it to her, smiling shyly. That prompted her to dig through her own bad, taking out a neatly folded pouch and placing it in his hand.
“And here are your cookies. Sienna will be amused to say the least when she wakes up and finds a few missing, but I’m willing to shoulder that burden.” She winked at him, then began walking backwards. “Come on, we have a new patient coming in today, Baz got their file yesterday.”
---------
Throughout the day, he would see her in the corridors or walking out of the patient’s rooms. Each time, an effortless smile made its way onto his lips, despite his best efforts to disguise it. It made him think about the reasons that made him decide to push her away in the first place. He remembered, very vividly, the moment he said to himself that they would be a distraction to each other, that any relationship between them other than that of being coworkers would put their jobs, their patients in jeopardy. As it turned out, it wasn’t necessarily a case, and he was being proven wrong every single day since he put distance between them.
Trying to stay away only made him notice her more. It’s a classic case of ‘the more you say you can’t do something, the more you want to do it anyway’. His eyes followed her around the room, his mind stopped for a moment every time she was near him, his focus was on every word she said. His whole being was tuned to her and her only, and while the quality of his work didn’t suffer, most of his energy was spent on him focusing on her, then him realizing that he was doing it and trying his best to stop himself from doing it. Needless to say, it became clear pretty much immediately that it was a futile effort, but Ethan Ramsey was a stubborn man who was convinced that with enough time and practice, he could learn to ignore her.
He couldn’t. And he didn’t.
Now, he had another point of view to consider. His meticulously crafted self-control broke like a fragile twig in one moment, and in the next, he had her in his arms, and he was kissing her, exactly like he wanted to do so many times. She didn’t push him away, he didn’t go back on his decision, and the air was lighter once more.
There was the creeping feeling of dread that followed him for the first few hours of his shift; the feeling of unease as to what their work together would look like, now that they stepped on the line he drew for them, and were one move away from leaving it behind them. All the insecurities he had, had vanished in the instant when they were diagnosing a patient and he realized that it has never been easier to do his job before. He knew that if they chose to start a relationship, they would have difficult moment, disagreements and full-blown arguments, so not that different than what they were doing now. The most important difference was that there would be much more at stakes, and that is what terrified him.
Claire’s steps seemed lighter, her demeanor brighter and her smile wider. She was working more efficiently, putting all of her focus on the patient when it was required of her, and crossed the boundaries with teasing him only slightly.
Before he knew it, lunch time rolled around, and he was alone in his office. His contemplation on what to eat was interrupted by an incoming message. Claire’s name flashed on the screen and there was a photo of her lunch attached to the message.
“Want some? I’ll trade you for one of the cookies.”
He looked at the pack of treats, sitting on his table, and replied, smirking.
“I’ll get the coffee started.”
Not even five minutes later, Claire walked into the room, closing the door behind her. She had already reheated the chicken and was now holding the box with one hand, two forks with the other. Sitting down on the couch, she waited for him to join her with two cups of coffee.
“I admire your willpower to not eat the cookies right away.” She said, handing him the fork. Ethan scoffed, shaking his head.
“Some of us can control themselves, Claire. It’s called willpower.”
“Sure they do.” Claire mused, taking her first bite. Her eyes grew wide, looking over to him quickly. “This is ridiculously good.” A wide grin grew on her face and he smiled triumphally, having achieved his goal.
“I’m glad you like it.”
“I’m not sure if you understand, Ethan. Now that I know you can cook, I’m not sure if I can survive without it.” She leaned towards him, nudging his arm with hers.
“Oh really.”
“I would have to be stupid to not use the knowledge of you being a genius in the kitchen somehow.” Shrugging her shoulders, she ran the tip of her finger around the rim of her coffee cup.
They ate in silence for a bit, enjoying the comfort of each other’s company. She stole one last piece of chicken, right from underneath his fork, and ate it while looking straight at him with a satisfied grin.
“How did the talk with your dad go?”
“You were right, I really needed to talk to him. Avoiding him was the worst decision.” Ethan wrapped his hands around the cup, the glass almost burning his skin. Claire took a bite out of her cookie, deep in her thoughts. “We’re not out of the woods yet, but we’re getting there.”
“You have no idea how happy for you I am.”
She finished her cookie and subconsciously started eyeing the one he was eating. He noticed her staring, cocking his eyebrow in a silent question.
“Wouldn’t you like to have another one, huh?” he teased her, trying to resist the playfully pleading look in her eyes. When she batted her eyelashes, he sighed, extending his hand towards her, offering her his cookie. She took a bite, their gazes firmly on one another. Nodding her head in a silent ‘thank you’, she finished eating. Ethan’s eyes dropped to her lips, like he was hypnotized. “You’ve got, uh… here…”
His thumb brushed the crumbs away from her skin, his touch lingering on her chin; he was now staring blatantly at her. The intensity of his gaze caused a shiver to run through her. She didn’t have time to ask him what he was thinking, though.
Ethan dove forward, grabbing her face with his both hands and pressing his lips to hers. He kissed her with wild abandonment, forgetting where they were, who they were and what they were supposed to be doing. She responded after a moment, placing one hand on his shoulder and the other one on his side, keeping her touch light.
He leaned away suddenly, realizing what was happening. His eyes were wide, a sliver of panic crossing his features. Claire moved away from him, then looked towards the door, checking to see if anyone was watching them, but the corridor was empty.
“Claire?” his voice was deep and hoarse. When she looked back at him, she noticed how dark his irises had gotten.
“Yes?”
“Come back here.” He pleaded, wrapping his arms around her and hauling her onto him, tilting her back against the couch slightly. This time round, she was kissing him back with just as much passion as he had for her, her fingers tangling into his hair and pulling with gentle force, drawing out a long moan from him.
He moved one hand beneath her coat, smoothing the material of her shirt with his hand. Claire lowered herself entirely onto the couch, pulling him on top of her. A giggle slipped past her lips when her fingers glided down the column of his neck and he broke the kiss, fidgeting away from her tickling. His laughter mixed with hers, ringing around them.
He was breathing heavily, allowing himself a moment to just stop everything and look at her. Her pupils were wide, cheeks flushed. Lips bruised from assaulting his repeatedly. He held himself up with one arm, tracing the lines of her face with his fingers. Memorizing her, imprinting the in his mind. He outlined her lips, his breath catching in his throat when she bit his fingertip playfully.
“My god, you’re addictive.” Ethan growled lowly, pulling her back to him. Her hold on him tightened, their kisses turning from slow and unhurried to rushed and hard, every touch fleeting, sending a hot flame through their bodies.
Claire moved her lips along the line of his jaw, traveling to his pulse point and staying there for a long while, slowly driving him crazy. Ethan’s hand, that up until this point was running up and down her side delicately, has now stopped at her thigh, gripping it tightly, a last-ditch effort to hold in a desperate sound that threatened to escape him. To contain the overwhelming desire that threatened to consume him whole, right there and then, on the couch in his office, where they were in a very public eye.
She brought her lips to his ear, breathing hotly against it as she whispered. “Maybe it’s not the best time and place for that kind of a conversation.” His kiss on the skin of her collarbone interrupted her trail of thought, a small moan slipping past her open lips. “Don’t you think?”
Ethan sighed heavily, sitting upright, pulling her up along with him. He brushed her hair behind her shoulders, caressing the skin on her cheek tenderly. Smiling seemed easier to him, now that he wasn’t carrying the heavy burden of his choice with him everywhere.
“You’re right. How about we try the dinner again?” he murmured, twisting a lock of her blonde hair between his fingers. Claire scrunched her nose, pretending to think about his offer.
“Are we going to get interrupted again?”
He laughed, shaking his head. “No surprise visits this time, I promise.”
She nodded slowly, looking at him for a long moment. Her hand rested on his thigh and her lips touched his in a soft kiss. Leaning away for just an inch, she whispered. “Okay.”

Early Morning
Ethan Ramsey x Reader
The vibration of your phone under your pillow scared the sleep out of you. You grabbed it and turned off the alarm you’d set last night. While throwing a glance at the sleeping figure on the other side of the bed, you tried to get up as discreetly as possible.
As shown on your phone, itw as barely 4 a.m and your boyfriend would be up in an hour, and rushing to get to work. When you went to bed last night, guilt had seized you.
Ethan wanted to to have a date night and you eagerly agreed. Being a doctor wasn’t a 9 to 5 job and it wasn’t everyday that you two had the chance to spend some time together. He invited you at his apartment, you ordered take out and talked about your respectives lives, at least what you didn’t already share by texts and ended up putting a movie as a background noise to enjoy plentifully the caresses, kisses and sweet nothings.
During his humanitary year, he’d let his beard grow, so a thick but short amount of hair was decorating his jaw. And you found great pleasure in running your hands along his scratchy cheeks. It’s with your face buried in his neck that he initiated a more sporty activity.
The early hours of the night were long gone already when you left the couch for his bed. And when ragged breathes filled the room, itw as even more late. Around 2 a.m, Ethan was softly snoring, you knew that only three hours later he’d be up. So you’d set your alarm to be ready one hour before he usually does, with the intention to make his morning more pleasant.
That’s why you padded your way into his kitchen, careful to close the door behind you, preventing any noise to bother your sleepyhead of a boyfriend.
Eggs, bacon, avocado toasts with a homemade fruits juice, would do to make him in a good mood.
The food was almost ready, you’d set the table, opened his shutters to let the early morning light enter, enjoying a cup of tea  on that special morning. Since Ethan and you started going out, yo ufelt like every little things out of ordinary were something bigger than it was in reality…
But getting up a 4a.m with only two hours of sleep to play the perfect housewife was definitely out of ordinary.
The silence, linked to the warmth of your drink associated to your fatigue made your eyes droop until you succumb, letting them close.
Only seconds seconds later, noises coming fro mthe bedroom made your eyes shot open. Furrowing your eyebrows, you put your mug down and looked at your phone.
4.24
What the hell could he be doing ? He shouldn’t even be up. New t weird thing to happen, the bedroom door opened suddenly, letting out a wild doctor, hair disheveled , eyes clearly not clear, a distraught expression on his face, with boxers, hanging low on his lips that he seemed to have put on in a hurry.
You looked at him worried by his outburst and when his eyes fell on you, his worry seemed to die down a bit.
«  What time is it ? Did I sleep through my alarm ? »
You walked up to him, sporting a smile that would quickly turn into a laughing fit.
«  It’s not even 4.30 a.m You’re early, calm down »
You brought your hand to his hair, trying to tame the wild mane and let it wander down onto his cheek. Meanwhile, he relaxed, his shoulders fell down and he passed fro mworry to «  Ugh »
«  I thought I overslept. Normally, you’re always next to me, still asleep when I get up. What are you doing ? »
Barely his words were out that he slumped on you, wrapping his arms around your frame in a loose embrace and resting his chin on top of your head.
«  Preparing breakfast. I wanted you to have a good amount of energy even if you didn’t sleep much » you hugged him back.
«  Thanks » he whispered pressing a kiss on your hair.
His naked back was tempting you to run your fingers along its curves and you didn’t have the mental strength to resist . Even less when you reached the hem of his boxers. That butt was made to be groped and you had all the right to do so.
Ethan jumped a little when you fully grabbed his asscheeks in your hands.
«  Careful. You don’t want to give Edenbrook’s best doctor a heart attack »
You chuckled
«  Don’t worry, we checked your stamina and heartrate last night. It looked pretty good to me »
It was his turn to laugh.
«  Next time I can focus on yours.Damn, I’d really liek to stay here all day…with you » the last part came out as a whisper, like a secret.
«  I know, me too. But Tuesdays are your busiests days »
You tightened yourself against him even more. But felt his chin lift from your head.
«  Wait today is Tuesday ? What number ? »
«  The 16th, why ? »
You didn’t know what was going on but at the moment, the most important thing was your boyfriend, against you and the little amount of time you had left with him.
«  Today’s my day off. I forgot itw as today. That’s  why I asked you to come last night, so we had the day together…but it slipped from my mind, apparently »
At his words, you pulled away from him.
«  Seriously ? »
He offered you an apologetic smile before muttering a «  yeah »
That’s when you pushed him off you, the fatigue overtaking your actions.
« Do you realize I only slept 2 hours, to make you breakfast and it’s your damn day off ! And you forgot ! Fuck you Ethan, I’m going back to sleep ! »
Your strode back to the bedrrom and plopped on the bed under his confused eyes. But only a second later, you got back up and walked passed him to the kitchen. Once the oven, fire and light were off, you went back on your steps, stopped at his level, got on your tiptoes and kissed his cheek.
«  Come back and get some sleep » you whispered in a soft order before walking back to the bed to disgracefully fall on it for the second time.
Ethan watched you from where he was and smiled softly at the whole situation. Mostly at you though, hsi quirky girlfriend who wasn’t even an early bird but got up i nthe middle of the night to make him breakfast. The same who snapped at him for being forgetful before turnign back into a lovebird.
He didn’t know about his heart condition but he clearly notcied how it just skipped a beat

Stella and the Wolf - Chapter 9
You can read it here on AO3 or find the Tumblr Chapter Index here.
Ever since his mom died, Stiles has had nightmares about the hospital. About being stuck inside it, wandering corridors that all look the same, taking hundreds of turns and never finding himself anywhere different. It was hard, at first, to come here with Scott whenever he was dropping dinner off for his mom. It was hard to go with Dad to Stella’s paediatrician appointments when she was little. Hard to go to his own too, when he had to see a therapist after Mom died. Stiles can remember standing in the parking lot screaming, afraid that if he went inside he’d never come out again.
He doesn’t hesitate today.
Not even the memory of his mom, and those long, awful months when she just took so long to die, can slow him down.
Stella is all he thinks about as he races inside, heading for the elevators that will take him up to the long term care ward. Stella, who’s in the same room as the murderous Alpha.
He punches the buttons in the elevator, living a thousand lifetimes in the space of the moments it takes for the doors to open on the second floor.
He knows these corridors. His mom was in one of the rooms. This isn’t the first time he’s run down them, although it’s maybe the first time he’s running towards something.
“He’s a monster, John! He’s killing me!”
There wasn’t a monster in the hospital back then, but there is now. And Stiles is running right for him, glancing into every room he passes, dodging around a cart of rumpled sheets, his shoes squeaking on the floor.
And then he finds them.
He catches himself on the doorframe and pulls himself to a stop, jarring his shoulder.
“You must be Stiles,” says the man with the smile. The man with the scar-puckered face. The man with blood on his hands. “Stella has told me all about you.”
***
It takes a moment for Stiles to see all the pieces on the board. The Alpha, the redheaded nurse holding her stomach while blood spreads over her scrubs like ink through blotting paper, and Stella. Stella standing at the end of the bed, hugging Matilda to her chest, her eyes wide.
The Alpha is standing between Stiles and Stella. The nurse is by the window.
And the Alpha—Peter Hale—is still smiling.
Stiles’s heart is trying to burst through his ribcage, and his hands are shaking. He stares past the Alpha to Stella, rakes his gaze down her to make sure none of the blood is hers. Her little fingers are white, she’s gripping Matilda so hard.
“Peter Hale,” he says, his voice rasping.
Peter Hale inclines his head, still wearing that chilling smile.
The redheaded nurse moves suddenly, and so does Peter Hale. He backhands her and sends her flying. She hits the wall and slumps to the floor. The angle of her neck is… it’s all wrong.
She might be dead.
Stiles thinks she might be actually dead.
Peter Hale rolls his shoulders, moves his head form side to side like he’s working the tension out of his neck. “Bitch.”
Stiles takes a step forward. He wants Stella to come to him, but he can’t ask her to move past the Alpha. So he takes another step forward, waiting to feel claws rip through him.
Another step.
Peter’s smile softens into something that looks almost fond, if he wasn’t a monster.
And then Stiles is shoulder to shoulder with the beast, and then he’s moving past him. His skin crawls. This will be the moment the Alpha attacks, right? When Stiles has his back to him. And then he’s three steps in the clear, and Stella is burrowing into his embrace, tear-stained and trembling.
Stiles keeps his back to the Alpha. Keeps himself between the Alpha and Stella. Turns his head slowly to look at the monster.
To look into those blue eyes, clear and bright and knowing in the scar-ravaged landscape of his face.
“You must be Stiles,” Peter Hale says again.
And Stiles nods.
***
Nobody comes. That’s the craziest thing. Melissa always complains that the hospital is understaffed, and Stiles guesses that, apart from rounds, there are a lot of hours that the patients in the long-term ward are just left on their own, to read, or to sleep, or to stare at their TV screens. They must be between rounds now, between meal and laundry services too, because nobody comes. The clock on the wall says that it’s just past 4.30, so nobody will come looking for Stella until five either.
The redheaded nurse lies slumped where she fell, blood pooled around her. There’s no more pumping out of the wound in her stomach. Stiles thinks that means her heart has stopped.
Stiles has seen dead bodies before. Well, he’s seen half of Laura Hale’s body, and a lot of autopsy photographs, but he’s never seen someone actually die in front of him before.
It doesn’t feel as big as it should. It should feel momentous, he thinks, but he’s too wrapped up in his own fear for him and Stella to even think of the nurse. Maybe it’s the sort of thing that will hit him later, if there is a later.
He looks over his shoulder at the Alpha, and discovers that Peter Hale is looking back, his head tilted like he’s not quite sure what he’s seeing. Like Stiles’s fear is a curious thing, and he has no idea what to make of it.
“Stiles,” Stella whispers, lifting her tear-stained face. “I want Dad. I want to go home.”
Stiles tightens his shaking fingers in the back of her shirt. He doesn’t know what will happen if he tries to move toward the door. He doesn’t know if Peter will lash out. He’s terrified that movement will cause Peter to attack, but also it’s not like he and Stella can stand here forever, right?
And then Peter lifts his nose, and his expression sharpens, and he turns toward the door—
“Stiles!” Derek yells, flinging himself into the room. “Get down!”
Stiles drops to the floor, taking Stella with him.
He hears a crash, and the table beside the bed spins away on its wheels as Derek and Peter slam into it.
They’re still between Stiles and the door.
Stiles pushes Stella toward the bed, and she crawls underneath like a tiny commando. Stiles follows her, twisting his head to see where Peter and Derek are now.
They’re… everywhere.
It’s a small room, and their fight sees them use every inch of it. They’re fast, and they’re violent, and Stiles can’t see enough of what’s going on to even take a guess at who’s going to win this thing. His sinking heart says it’s Peter though, right? Because Alphas are strong, stronger than betas. Much stronger.
The only thing Stiles knows for sure is that he has to get Stella out of here.
He waits until he sees Peter hit the floor, Derek landing on top of him, and pushes Stella out from under the bed. He scrambles out after her.
“Go!” he tells her. “Get out!”
She bolts for the door, Stiles right behind her.
He hears a roar. It chills him. He turns.
Derek’s on the floor now, on his back beside the dead nurse, and Peter’s hand is clamped around his throat. Derek’s back is bowed as he fights his uncle’s grip.
Stiles’s heart skips a beat.
Peter looks up and meets his gaze. Holds it, and then looks down at Derek again. To Stiles’s surprise Peter releases him, and Derek slumps onto the floor.
“I’m family, nephew,” he says, his breathing strained. “I’m pack.”
And Stiles sees it right in that moment.
He sees how Derek’s going to capitulate, because Derek’s all alone in the world, or he thinks he is. He’s all alone, and Peter isn’t just his Alpha, he’s his only living relative. And that matters. Stiles knows it matters. And there must be years of history between them. Maybe Peter taught Derek how to play baseball and ride a bike. Or maybe he taught him how to howl at the moon. But there’s years, and there’s love and guilt and a hundred different other things all twisted up into some sick sense of obligation—family and pack, pack and family—and Derek is going to give in. Stiles is going to lose him in this moment.
He can feel it in his bones.
“Derek,” Stiles says, his voice rasping. His throat aches and his eyes are stinging. “Der, he killed Laura.”
Peter’s top lip lifts in a silent growl. A challenge and a victory smirk at the same time, and Stiles feels his sense of loss break over him like a storm.
And Derek…
Derek doesn’t answer him. Doesn’t even look at him. He just lies there, like the dead nurse, and Stiles knows there’s nothing he can say to change this. Nothing he can say to save Derek. Derek’s got no fight left in him now.
He’s done.
“Leave, Stiles,” Peter says. “While you still can.”
Stiles registers Stella tugging at his hand.
“Derek,” he says once more, for all the good his pleading tone does.
Derek turns his face away.
And then Stiles leaves.
***
Stiles doesn’t even know how he makes it home without crashing into anything. His hands are shaking, and his vision is blurry. When he blinks, hot tears slide down his cheeks.
“You’re okay,” he says to Stella, clinging to it because it’s the only thing stopping him from drowning. “You’re okay.”
A woman died today, but Stella’s okay.
Derek gave into the Alpha today, but Stella’s okay.
Stiles can hardly breathe, but Stella’s okay.
She sits beside him on the couch, small and solicitous, and brings him a can of soda without being asked, and opens up Matilda and starts to read aloud: “Matilda said, ‘Never do anything by halves if you want to get away with it. Be outrageous. Go the whole hog. Make sure everything you do is so completely crazy it's unbelievable...’”
Stiles curls his fingers around his can of soda, and wonders how she’s okay. Not just physically, but mentally. How is she not a mess? Fuck knows Stiles is a mess.
Stella’s forehead creases as she looks at him. “Stiles?”
“Yeah?”
There are a million questions she could ask him now, and he would have no idea how to answer any one of them. Except she doesn’t ask about death, or Alphas, or Derek, or even Peter. Instead she pulls something out from between the pages of her book.
It’s a thin piece of…plastic, Stiles thinks at first, before he takes it in his shaking hand. But it doesn’t feel like plastic, or even wood. It might be bone? It’s as small and thin as a guitar pick, but there are weird symbols carved on it.
“What is it?”
Stella shrugs.
“Where’d you get it?”
“I found it on the floor,” Stella says, her eyes wide. “When I showed the nurse, she tried to take it off me. That’s when Peter woke up and stuck his claws in her.”
“What?”
Stella holds up her hand and slides the sleeve of her shirt back. She has bruises on her forearm. Finger marks.
“The nurse did that to you?”
Stella nods solemnly.
Stiles turns the weird little token over in his palm. There are more symbols on the back. Is it possible there’s more at play here than a crazy Alpha?
“We should Google what it means,” Stella says decisively.
Yeah.
Yeah, they really should.

A day of fun pt.2
You’ve never been at Tom’s house before. After a 15 minutes taxi’s drive, you arrived in front of a huge gate and a fence, formed by network and high hedges. You got out of the cab and entered into the garden. You were speechless. It was a big three-story house, situated on top of an hill, so you could see the city beneath. You went in.
—Y/N, welcome! —said Tom playfully, spreading his arms.
—WOW, it’s wonderful.
It was a lovely home, very tidy and reflected the personality of its owner. Now you had before your eyes a large living room, with a white marble staircase at the centre, a Chesterfield light brown sofa and combined armchairs, a big Tv and a library in which there were many awards. An island divided the living room from an ultra-modern kitchen.
—Y/N, make yourself at home. Take a seat, while I bring you a glass of water.
—Uh, thanks.
The couch was very comfy. You could have fallen asleep without even noticing. After a while, Tom arrived with the water for you and a beer for him. You had a sip and it raised a sort of awkward silence. He broke it.
—I’m sorry that our afternoon ended like that—he said pouting, taking your hands in his.—I really wanted to spend a beautiful day with you without problems.
—Don’t worry. I was having a lot of fun. —you said smiling. —The day isn’t finished yet.
His face lightened up. —Right. So, what do you want to do? We can watch a movie, go swimming into the pool, listening to some music or playing with video-games. I also have Guitar Hero.
—Uhh, I’ve never played it.
—Seriously?
You nodded.
—Well, then it’s settled. Do you want to play the guitar or the drum?
—Drum. My fingers aren’t fast enough to get all the guitar’s buttons.
—I explain you how to play.
—Okay.
—When you see the colored dots arriving at the end of the screen, you have to hit the plate with the same color. Now we’ll try a song and you’ll see that it’s very easy when you take the beat.
—I’m ready, cap.
—Let’s try… “Jukebox Hero”. Make room on the stool, so I can help you.
When the song started you couldn’t stay in time, since you beat too soon or too late. But in the middle of the song you started to catch on and from there it was easier.
You started playing at 4.30 p.m. and after many songs, like “Pour some sugar on me”, “Don’t stop me now”, “Paradise City” and “No one like you”, it was dinner time. You decided for a pizza delivery and in the meantime you choose a movie to watch. After having scrolled down the movies list, you opted for “Grease”, since you both liked it and it would have helped you to stay awake. The delivery guy arrived soon after. You seated on the barstool near the island and started eating, stealing slices from one another. Tom had chosen an American pizza, full of toppings, and you a simple Margarita. You faced one another and often smiled.  After drinking a sip of Cola, you put your hand palm up on the island. Tom took it and never left it. He finished eating, stood up, went around the counter (never leaving your hand) and got closer to you, putting himself between your knees. He brought his hands on your hips and started smiling.
—That smile is gonna be the end of me—you said tracing the dimples that had formed on his cheeks. He smiled even bigger. He put his hand on your cheek and kissed you, sweetly at the beginning, but it became more avid. You brought your hand around his neck, while he draw invisible circles on your hips. You came back on Earth and opened the eyes at the same time. You could cut the tension with a rounded knife, but neither of you wanted to rush things, because when you started dating, you promised  to go slow and transform what you had in something serious.
You stood up slowly and Tom raised his eyebrows to ask your intentions.
—Where is the bathroom?
—The bathroom? Uh, yeah. The door in the living room, near the poster.
—Okay. I’ll be right back.
—Take your time.
When you came back, Tom had already tossed out the junk and seated on the sofa, waiting for you.
You moved closer silently, put your hand on his shoulders and started rubbing.
—Oh God, please don’t stop.
You laughed. —Are you sure I’m doing it well? I’ve always been told I’m the worst masseuse ever existed. —you said with a worried expression.
—They didn’t appreciated you then. You’re doing it right. Scout’s honor.
—I’ll have to trust you.
Your boyfriend tilted his head back with closed eyes. He had a relaxed face, so you lowered and gave him a kiss on the tip of his nose. He opened his eyes suddenly, took your waist and, in some way, you ended up un the couch with Tom alongside you.
He gave you feather light kisses on your left cheek, on your nose, on the other cheek, on your lips and said a few millimeters from you: —What you you say, shall we began the movie? Otherwise I’ll never let you go.
—Yes, definitely.
You kissed one more time, then got comfortable. You both were lying on your hips, Tom was hugging you from behind and leaned into two pillows to see the screen. When the song “Summer nights” hired on, he sang it in a low voice, which was so pleasant, that you fell asleep. In your sleep, you felt caresses and feather kisses on your jaw, near your lips and on your neck. When your eyes opened, you found yourself facing your beloved, who was watching you sleeping.
—Oh my God. Did I fell asleep, didn’t I? —you said with a sleepy voice, rubbing your eyes.
—Yeah. —he said smiling.
—How long I’ve been asleep?
—Not very long. We’re almost at the last song.
—I’m sorry I dozed off..
—Don’t worry. It has been a pleasure watching over you. Besides, I’ve discovered something..
—Please tell me I didn’t snore. —you said blushing.
—You’re damn right. Although it wasn’t something nerve-wrecking or annoying. You were adorable—he said passing his thumb on your lips.
—Uh really?
—MM MM, absolutely. —He tilted his head. —I think I’m done..
—Then I think I should go home. —You were standing up, but Tom caught you immediately.
—I misspoke. I wanted to say that I am completely in love with you. Truly, madly, crazy, deeply in love with you.
—Uh, I understand. —You blushed and became red like a tomato. Afterward, keeping your eyes lowered and drawing invisible lines on his T-shit you said: —You know, I think I love you too. And when you say things like that, I don’t know what I would do to you.
—Too sappy?
—Nope, not at all. You’re irresistible.
—Mmh, and? —he said passing his hand through your hair, massaging your scalp.
—Adorable, cute, sweet. —You leaned on and kisses him.
You went on like that all the evening, until you fell asleep on the couch, hugging one another.
As soon as you opened your eyes, you rapidly closed them because of a sudden wave of light. Trying to get used to it, you covered your face with your hands, and gradually opened your eyes. At the beginning you didn’t know where you were, but then you remembered and relaxed a bit. In the air there was a scent of bacon and oranges. You were standing up, when Tom sneaked up from the kitchen with a tray.
—Good morning sweetheart.
—Good morning to you too. That smells good!
He put the tray on the little table near the sofa.
—We have bacon, orange juice, a coffe for me and two croissants with cream. I didn’t know what you preferred, so I picked up both salty and sweet.
—Thanks, babe. —you said with a genuine smile.
—For you, this and more.
You were having breakfast, when you saw what time it was. You stood up quickly.
—No, no, no, no, please.
—What happened? —he said alarmed.
—I’m late for work. What do I do now? I don’t have a change of clothes, I can’t take a shower. I must abs…
—Regarding work, when your colleague started calling, I sent her a message, telling her that you would be late. Concerning the other things, you can make them here and once you’ve done, you can go directly at work. If you want I can borrow you one of my T-shirts.
—Uh..ehm..thank you. —You were settling down a bit. —But why didn’t you wake me up?
—You were sleeping so well and you were smiling, like a lot. I didn’t want to interrupt your dream. —he said pouting, scratching the back of his head.
You bit your lip trying not to laugh at his face. He seemed a busted kid. You gave him a light smack and stood up.
—I’m going to jump in the shower.
He stood up too.
—I’ll walk you in the bathroom upstairs. —Tom took your hand and guided you, until he stopped outside his bedroom, which was minimal, with a king wooden bed, a mirror closet  and lots of paintings, photos and posters. You lifted an eyebrow to ask an explanation and when he saw your expression, he said: —It isn’t as you think. You have to cross the bedroom, if you want to go to the bathroom.
—I see. —You slightly shut the eyelids to analyze his expression, then you went in. You stopped astonished on the threshold. It was huge. There was short hazelnut tiles wall that separated the Jacuzzi from the rest, i.e. a shower, the toilette, two sinks and a dark brown wooden cabinet and a lot of free space. That bathroom was as big as half your apartment.
—Wow.
—Do you like it? —he said waggling his eyebrows.
—Do I like it? I simply love it. —You looked around you for awhile, but then the image of a clock ticking appeared in your mind. You shook your head, turned toward Tom and started walking slowly.
—Sooo.. you don’t want company, right?—he said with a smug grin.
—I’m sorry to disappoint you, but nope. —You gave him a kiss, went back, closed the door and started laughing. He didn’t noticed he was arrived on the threshold since you had closed the door.
You took a quick shower, wore your jeans and a black printed “Top Gun” T-shirt that Tom had left on his bed. You looked into the mirror and went downstairs, where your beloved was sitting on the armchair, watching the news. When he heard you, he turned his face and never took his eyes off you, until you were really close.
—It suits you. You should wear my clothes more.
—Thanks, honey. —Then your face darkened. —I’m really sorry, but I have to go.
—Sure. I’ll drive you.
—What if they see us?
—I don’t care. I don’t want to do things secretly. I don’t want to make you go away with a cab or with my chauffeur, like you are meaningless. You are my girlfriend, so I want to be free to carry you at work, to pick you up and to go anywhere with you.
—Really?
—Yes, really. —He kissed you. —Now my love, let’s go or your chief will kick you out.
—Okay. Wait…how did you called me?
—My love. Do you like it?
—Yes, I adore it.
You went hand in hand into the garage, got in the black Audi A4 and left.
Once you arrived at your workplace, he said goodbye giving you a kiss on your left cheek, on you nose, on the right cheek and at the end a passionate one on your lips.
—We’ll see tomorrow, right? —he asked hopeful.
—Yes, tomorrow.
—I can’t wait..
—Don’t tell me..
You got out, he waved at you and didn’t left until you entered into the building.
Throughout the day, you did anything but thinking about him and how much he had been sweet. Once in a while you tried to focus on your work, but you couldn’t, since his scent on the T-shirt prevented it.

Soho Rose Farm will be having a Valentine’s Day pop up this week, with plenty of fresh homegrown roses to be had! Photo – Dan Roberts for The Design Files.
In early 2018, florist Kristy Tippett and her husband Brock transported 8000 rose bushes from Soho Rose Farm in Drysdale to their farm in Dean, a two-and-a-half hour drive away.
When the couple who had been running the original Soho Rose Farm for the last 15 years decided to sell their property and move on, the new owners of the Drysdale property did not wish to carry on the flower business. All the roses were set to be bulldozed, and the local florist industry was devastated. ‘In what felt like the eleventh hour, my husband and I visited the property and decided to take on the business,’ Kristy recalls. Three years later, and the beautiful flower farm continues to blossom in its new home – literally and figuratively!
During her many years working as a florist for renowned Melbourne florist Cecilia Fox, Kristy had created many beautiful arrangements using glorious garden roses from Soho Rose Farm. ‘Soho’s garden roses were integral to most of the flower arrangements we created, and my love for them runs deep’, Kristy said.
If the Soho Rose Farm story sounds like the plot of a movie, that’s nothing in comparison to Kristy and Brock’s own love story. The couple met when they were both ‘right in the thick of it’ with small kids from previous relationships, and the two families combined. ‘Our five kids have grown up together and we have our youngest, Lincoln, together making it six’ says Kristy. Brock runs his family’s farming business on the same property (they have been growing potatoes there since the late 1880s!) where Kristy runs Soho. ‘Brock and I have the same values when it comes to family life and work. During our busy seasons everyone helps, and we hope that we are teaching our kids valuable life skills and a great work ethic’, says Kristy. ‘I really actually couldn’t do it without him’.
We caught up with Kristy to learn more about her magical roses, and the Soho Rose Farm Valentine’s Day pop up in Ballarat, launching this week!
Hey Kristy! So HOW does one transport 8000 rose bushes the 2.5 hour journey from Drysdale to Dean?
A lot of logistics! We needed to tag and record every single plant, then we pruned them all back so they weren’t too big to be moved. After many deadends we ended up sourcing a ‘rose digger’ – a purpose built attachment that would attach to the side of our tractor and dig out each plant. Brock, my husband, and 2 staff dug and sorted each plant, packed with mulch and brought back a truckload every night for a week and half. I had a team of 10 – 15 working everyday, planting from 7am – 6pm. Roses are exceptionally hardy plants, but if their roots dry out slightly they will die, it was huge job to keep them hydrated and replant each plant within 24 hours of being dug out. We had an incredible team of people to help us make it all possible!
The paddocks were cattle grazing paddocks prior to the roses being planted there, so the soil is healthy and full of all the good things. We did not need to do much at all to prepare the roses to be transplanted into their new homes.
Did you know what you were doing, or was it a bit of a gamble?
I had no idea what I was doing going into growing flowers on a commercial scale. It was a huge gamble, but with my experience working with flowers I surprised myself by how quickly I picked up the harvesting and processing side of the business.
I am still very much learning about farming, I think it might be a life long learning experience, every season brings with it new challenges, weather, pests, diseases.
What does a regular day look like for you?
It’s always an early start for me, around 4.30 or 5am. After coffee, I do my emails, then as soon as the sun is up I start picking. My staff usually start an hour or so after that and we pick until 10am (never after), then I spend the rest of the day processing flowers, finishing our market orders and making bouquets.
When all that is done, and if there is any daylight left, I will either work in the paddock on our plants or deliver flowers. I take the rest of the evening to spend with my family. After dinner I often might do a late evening pick before a little processing again.
tell Us a little about your upcoming Valentine’s Day pop up in Ballarat this week – what can people expect?
Lots of local, seasonal flowers and all our garden roses! All our special field grown flowers and dahlias, as well as locally grown hydrangea and field blooms from small scale regional farmers. We are really excited to meet members of our community and offer our roses to the public for this special week!
What is your dream for Soho Rose Farm?
To grow flowers that create floral magic! Flowers that embrace the perfect imperfectness and beauty in our environment. I would love to continue to encourage ways that florists and their customers can embrace the natural imperfections that occur in open air, field grown flowers. It is hard to beat the feeling of being stopped in your tracks by a heartbreakingly beautiful garden rose, and knowing you grew it!
Soho Rose Farm Valentine’s Day Pop Up Tuesday February 9th – Sunday February 14th, 10am – 6pm 415 Sturt Street Ballarat, Victoria

GRAPS AND CLAPS REVIEWS - TIDAL CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING 'WIPEOUT 2019'
Tumblr media
Hello and welcome once again to Graps and Claps, this time taking me on a short trip to Leeds for Tidal Championship Wrestling's 2nd show of the year and the first in Leeds in 2019 at The Temple of Boom. Setting off on the 415pm train drinking two cans of cheap Doombar which our Geoff bought from a reduced aisle section in Bury, we arrived into the Yorkshire Capital at 530pm making our way first to The Head of Steam for a pre-show pint.
Tumblr media
With this being a Friday night, Leeds and in general this pub was very busy with people wanting to drown their sorrows after a hard working week. Here I only had the one pint which was a Wilde Child brewery 'Days of Wilde' Banoffee Stout (4.5%, £4.30), that was quite mourish in taste and possibly the pint of the night, despite it being at least a pound more than you would pay in similar establishments in Manchester.
Tumblr media
Meeting up with Twitter and Grimsby Graps celeb Chris Wilson, we made our way to Whitelocks based on the main high street for one last drink, that being a pint of Ilkley Brewery 'Stout Mary' (3.8% £3.20) which wasn't the best pint lacking in taste mainly due to the weak volume. However, this is still a good pub to visit with a decent beer garden area if there isn't enough room to swing a cat inside.
Anyways drinks done, we entered the Temple just as the Pre-Show Grapple Wrestling matches had just finished, which had good reviews from the 30/40 who were there for that part of the show. With a crowd of around 100 in attendance packed into the small surroundings we were set fair for a great night's worth of action, so without further ado lets get into what went down!
First up was Leeds favourite Russian Boris Koslov taking on Grodd of the Crown of Thorns faction - who was greeted with the chant of 'he's got bird shit on his face' remarking about his face paint - it must have been one BIG bird with a bad case of the shits tbh.
After being distracted by Grodd's team mates beforehand, Boris was attacked from behind but once he got into it we had some stiff strike action to start with till Grodd hits a clothesline. Koslov came back though wading away with punches until another clothesline from Grodd floors him. As the match went on we had a Russian Legdrop by Boris for a 2 count, a Uranage slam by grodd for 2 as the match reached its conclusion. Up top Boris tried and tried to hit a Superplex, but manages to hit it at the 3rd attempt of trying, with Grodd floored Boris locked in a Crossface but Grodd manages to escape Koslov's clutches leaving Boris frustrated at a standing base, which led to Grodd walloping Boris with a hard lariat to get the three count to end a good hard-hitting match up - Grodd has really improved as a wrestler over the last year.
Sean Only came out to demand that Tidal management give him a chance at the big Tidal title, which it sermed noticeable that Ian (Tidal promoter) didn't want to hear this as he stood by the door entrance.
Up next it was a battle of the youngsters as perennial rivals JJ Barker took on Joe Nelson in what was to be a fantastic high flying battle on paper. Early stages we had Nelson hitting a high crossbody followed up by a moonsault to get a two count! Barker came back himself as he hit a big running boot, an Enziguri to floor Joe as JJ locked in a sleeper hold, but thankfully for Nelson he managed to recover.
Tumblr media
Lots of action as we moved in the latter stages of the match up as both wrestlers hit a Double enziguri to knock each other out cold! Back at a standing base, Joe hit a DVD and kick to barker to get a two count, JJ followed up with michinoku driver for a 2, then a DDT for 2. JJ however tried to follow up with a moonsault press but missed, leading to Joe Nelson to hit a Tornado DDT to get the three in an excellent match, this show was certainly hitting all of the right notes at this point.
TCW Openweight Title next with the Champion Roxxy taking on Kanji who was making her debut in a Tidal ring, but she has been making a name for herself namely in Defiant wrestling. Early on we had a submission locked in by Kanji, which Roxxy escaped from. This was followed up by an array of roll uo spots that led to many counts of 1, which tired out poor referee Cowboy One, oh!! I mean Cowboy John.
Roxxy was on top after thus hitting both a roundhouse kick and a crossbody to get two counts, with both women giving there all they come to a crash as they hit a double clothesline to floor each other. With both eventually getting back up, Kanji hit a 6-1-KANJI to Roxxy followed up with a dropkick. Roxxy came roaring back though as she hit a double stomp to Kanji before locking in a neck and arm submission to leave Kanji scrambling for the ropes.
Kanji though fired back with a diving clothesline and Sex-Pinning Roxxy for a two, she then tried to hit a moonsault to Roxxy but missed as Roxxy hit a roll-through bomb and then locked in a neck submission to Kanji to make her tapout to retain the TCW Open Title in a fine match - hopefully we get to see more of Kanji in Tidal in the future.
Tag action next with two teams ready to stake a claim for future tag title shots with The Crown of Thorns (B.A Rose and Will Kroos) vs Crashboat (Pop Punk Kid and Jack Bandicoot). As per with the tag division in Tidal this was another fine match with Kroos especially proving to be a great base for the high flying Crashboat! Crashboat early on utilised this as they hit big dives to The Thorns on the outside however, The Thorns got back in control as they beat down there much smaller opponents.
Tumblr media
Crashboat fought back as Bandicoot hit a schoolboy dropkick to Kroos and then followed up with a moonsault to Kroos to get a 2 count. Kroos and Rose recovered from this as they they laid a beating to Jake Silver hitting a BIG suplex to him, Silver managed to wriggle free hitting a dropkick to Rose as he made the hot tag to Bandicoot who came in to clean house including a elevated ddt to get a 2 count.
Unfortunately though for Crashboat, the joy ended there as B.A Rose not long after this finished off Jake Silver with a Jay Driller to get the three count to chalk up another one in the win column on this evening for The Crown of Thorns.
Break time over with, with people sampling the vegan burgers and chicken wraps on offer that were going down a treat so much that they had sold out, leaving people left just eating chips, whilst washing it down with £2.50 cans of beer. It is to be noted that the venue now has two bars with an extra one inside the building where the wrestling is, meaning no one has to leave the action unless they want a piss!
Tumblr media
Returning with TCW Women's title action with the Champion, Rhio in her new Cadbury's Eclair inspired gear taking on Chakara for whom Rhio has beaten on three occassions previously. Chakara early on had the upper hand as she hit a bug headbutt followed up with double knees to get a two count. As the match went on though, it looked like Chakara would pick up the victory as she hit a powerbomb to Rhio to get a two count, this led though to The Crown of Thorns making an appearance to lay out Chakara and removing Rhio to the back to save her and her title as Cowboy John counted out Rhio to give Chakara the countout victory - BOOOO!!! Chakara it has to be said is really improving as a character and as a wrestler - good presence and poise about her.
Tumblr media
Up next it was a clash between Plant Pot and professional Turnip Sniffer Josef Kafka taking on H.T Drake, now with Kafka having seen him twice before I didn't hold out much hope, but my god I was proven wrong! Drake got the early advantage as he waffled Kafka with a clothesline and a BIG knee that killed Kafka but not enough for a 2 count. Kafka came vack though hitting a neckbreaker, followed by a senton splash for 2, only to then lock in a submission which Drake managed to escape from.
Once out Drake finally put away Kafka with a Lungblower to get the three count in just over 11 minutes to end a surprisingly good match - More Josef Kafka please barman!!
Tag team title action next with Man Like Dereiss once again deputising for an injured Sebb Strife in The Lion Kings to team with Nsereko to defend the Tag Titles vs Never Say Die (Alex Cupid and Dylan D'Angelo). Before we get into the match, I did laugh at a tweet Progress honcho Jon Briley put out the other week commenting about one of NSD to if they actually still wrestle??? Ah Jon Briley stick to booking Progress and not tweeting - you absolute cockwomble!!
Anyways I digress, Dereiss was certainly on fire during this match as he dit a dropkick to D'Angelo and then followed up with a Sentom splash to get a two count. Dereiss hit a short dropkick, only to then be stopped in his tracks as NSD went into a prolonged beatdown of the up and comer. Dereiss however, eventually got the big tag to Nsereko to clean house but the Ugandan was hit with a BIG elevated lung blower by NSD to get a 2 count.
With the match reaching its climax though and with Cowboy John on the deck, out came The Crown of Thorns to cause havoc as they battered both teams but eventually caused more damage to Nsereko and Dereiss and D'Angelo got the winning pin to capture the TCW Tag Titles in a really good match one that was packed full of drama and storyline progression - The Crown of Thorns looked very strong on this evening!!
Tumblr media
With the time coming up to 945pm, we had your main event of Ben Corrigan's favourite Chuck Mambo taking on our boy snd TCW Champion Sugar Dunkerton. Now sadly I didn't get to see the conclusion of this match due to having to run for the train, what I did see was 10 minutes packed full of comedy with the happy go lucky Mambo and Sugar not going too hard on each other.
Tumblr media
One special spot was Mambo of all things hanging off of the lights ala what Jack Bandicoot does and in turn hanging up there for 30 seconds. From reports though, this match continued in the same fun vein of things as Sugar pinned Mambo after a number of reversals to retain the TCW Title to continue what has been a highly successful run. However, a collision course in the future looks to be on between Sugar and one Rampage Brown - OH MY!!!
Arriving back in Rochdale for 1130pm, me and Geoff walked back to my house putting the world to rights about Brexit and continuing the conversation back home whilst eating a Morrison's Mighty Meat pizza that set off the smoke alarm, during us watching PCW Festive Fury 2012 before we went to bed.
In closing, Tidal once again put on a fantastic show that maybe didn't look that great on paper but live it turned into a belter. Tidal and myself next week go on tour to London on March 3rd for their return to the nation's capital after some time away - Go and check them out as it is set to be an authentic Tidal show with many of the northern mob making the trip down - you won't be disappointed!!!
As ever give this a share on all social media platforms using the below hashtag, so until the next time - BYE!!!

England U17s star Noni Madueke followed Jadon Sancho example by moving abroad

If they can beat them on the big stage , why wouldn't they play as much as they do at club level?
Jadon Sancho, then a member of England & # 39; s under-17 & # 39; s, emerged as the English team after leaving Manchester City for Borussia Dortmund in August 2017 and being expressed by fast a Bundesliga to be regular and senior international valued at more than £ 100m by his club.
The current crop of under-17s launched their European championship bid for Ireland on Friday night and qualified thanks to late heroics from a player who also encapsulates the new generation of England.
Attacking midfielder Noni Madueke, scored two goals in the decisive qualifying match against Denmark in March to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 win for Steve Cooper & # 39; s side

& # 39; And there are so many young players in first teams at the highest level as at PSV, Ajax.
& Players such as Frenkie De Jong, all these guys. I thought if I wanted to go to the first team, I would go to Tottenham quickly and start playing PSV.
& # 39; As long as I continue with the things they tell me, I feel like
It is a measure of Madueke & # 39; s self-belief that Londoners didn't hesitate much when PSV arrived , even if it is

A FAST 1970 Dodge Challenger That Is Really Fast
In 1966, the SCCA Trans-American Sedan Championship for Manufacturers Series (later known as the Trans-Am Series) was established, and the expectation of the sanctioning body was the auto manufacturers would race vehicles that were constructed on their respective assembly lines. Quickly, this belief was upended as the manufacturers began constructing “off assembly line” vehicles, which were made specifically for the Trans-Am Series. The reason the vehicles were special assemblies, rather than production vehicles, was to gain an advantage and increase the odds of beating the other vehicle manufacturers, with the hopes of seeing a sales bump on the bottom line due to the racing success. This was the “win on Sunday, sell on Monday” theory that truly worked in the 1960s and 1970s.
As a result of the manufacturers’ actions, the Trans-Am Series introduced regulations to try to level the playing ground and keep the escalating costs under control. One of the regulations required the manufacturers to build and sell a specific number of vehicles to the public. These street vehicles were required to be comparable to the Trans-Am race versions to satisfy the requirements. By 1970, Chrysler management decided to challenge the Ford Mustangs and Chevrolet Camaros that had dominated the 5.0L class for years. A directive was announced to put forth a concerted effort to win the 5.0L class championship with the newest offerings from Dodge as well as Plymouth.
On February 20, 1970, Dodge released a bulletin to their dealership network, introducing the A53 T/A package for the Challenger. While the 5.0L Trans-Am Series required an engine no larger than 305 cid, the street T/A had a 340-cid engine fed by three Holley 2bbl carburetors atop an Edelbrock intake manifold. The 340 had a pair of modified small-block cylinder heads and a valvetrain that was altered to match the cylinder heads. The drivetrain consisted of a TorqueFlite automatic transmission or an A-833 New Process four-speed manual transmission connected to a 3.55:1 geared 8 ¾-inch rearend. The T/A was equipped with front disc brakes, a Rallye suspension that included sway bars on the front and rear and heavy-duty shock absorbers, and a low-restriction dual exhaust that had unique mufflers that dumped the exhaust just in front of the rear tires. The tire combination was one of the earliest designs of smaller front tires (E60 series) and larger rear tires (G60 series). Each bias-ply tire was mounted on a 15×7 stamped-steel wheel or steel Rallye wheel.
Tom Cannon of Glenside, Pennsylvania, has what appears to be one of those coveted A53 T/A package Challengers. In reality, his Dodge started its life as a B5 Blue Challenger with a 318 engine and a four-speed. Tom stated, “When I got the Challenger in 1996, it was a real pile. It needed quarters, trunk extensions, front aprons, the radiator support, and basically every bolt-on body part.” The restoration and transformation of the rusty Challenger was squeezed in during Tom’s free time between making a living and preparing a 1972 Charger for NHRA Stock Eliminator. It took Tom some time to gather the correct parts to convert the Challenger into a T/A, and during this time, Tom met some Mopar enthusiasts that were deeply involved in the YearOne FAST series (now called the FAST Racing Series). FAST stands for Factory Appearing, Stock Tire, meaning the vehicle must appear factory stock, and the vehicle must operate on the rolling stock of the era (bias-belted tires).
Once Tom found out about the FAST series, he abandoned the Stock Eliminator Charger project, and the Challenger project was moved to the forefront. “I like the look of a stock vehicle, but one that will go really fast,” Tom shared, “And the FAST series looked like it was designed just for me.” To get the Challenger ready to race, a 340 was machined to accept a 4.00-inch stroker crankshaft, resulting in a 416 cubes. A factory three two-barrel manifold was found, and reproduction Holley carburetors, matching hardware, and air cleaner assembly were fastened atop of the manifold. The front suspension was left stock with the exception of swapping of the torsion bars to Slant Six units, and the factory front shocks were replaced with 90/10 drag shocks. The front brakes were upgraded with Aerospace four-piston fixed calipers and cross-drilled rotors.
A pair of Tri-City Launcher leaf springs support the 8 ¾-inch rearend housing that’s packed with a 4.30:1 geared spool. The rearend multiplies the engine torque and passes it to a pair of 15×7 steel wheels wrapped by Goodyear Polyglas G60 tires. To help keep the Goodyears stuck to the tarmac, a pair of QA1 double-adjustable rear shocks have been slipped onto the factory shock mounting studs. For the transmission, Tom selected an aluminum A-833 four-speed, which doesn’t sound like a successful formula when working with traction-limited Polyglas tires. If you did an inventory of all the FAST cars at any event, you’d usually just find Tom rowing his own while everybody else utilizes some type of automatic transmission. Tom says, “The stick shift makes me feel more connected with the car, and every now and then it will produce a hero run, which makes it worth it. I have had everything ready to install for years to switch the Challenger to a TorqueFlite, and I would probably win an event or two, but I can’t pull the trigger — I just can’t do it,” Tom confessed as he chuckled.
Tom’s personal best with the Challenger is an elapsed time of 11.35 seconds at 122.97 mph, which he recorded recently at Atco Dragway in New Jersey. Tom has logged a 1.71 second 60-foot time, but usually 60-foot times in the 1.80 second range are the average. To maintain traction on mediocre tracks, Tom has to add weight (a lot of weight), and he has to finesse the clutch pedal and loud pedal to keep the Polyglas tires on the edge of breaking loose.
Since Tom’s first race in 2003, he has had two incidents that were real heart stoppers. The first occurred at Bristol Dragway in Tennessee on the third pass with his freshly built 416 engine. A piece of Mallory (heavy metal) broke free from the crankshaft, which caused a crescent-shaped opening in the oil pan, allowing the slippery stuff to spill onto the track. The oil-coated rear tires instantly lost traction, and the Challenger started to rapidly swap ends until the front end stabbed the opposite lane’s retaining wall. The Challenger continued to rotate, resulting in the rear corner of the Challenger tapping the wall as well. Tom hopped out of the Challenger, expecting the worst, but the damage was much less than he anticipated. Tom loaded up and headed home, but he got lost. He stopped for directions at a shop, and it turned out a professional welder was on duty. The welder fixed the pan, and was able to reweld the Mallory to the crankshaft. To reinstall the Mallory, a lot of hammering and grinding was necessary, which is something nobody wants to see on their new engine, but once the job was complete, everything was buttoned up, and the engine ran flawlessly. Tom decided to peel the damaged body parts from the Challenger and return to the track for the next day’s competition. The Challenger’s body was in need of a rebuild, but he was able to race.
Moving forward a couple of years, Tom was at Lebanon Valley Dragway in New York when he power-shifted the transmission into Third gear at the same moment the rear tires rolled into an undetected pool of coolant that had leaked from the prior competitor. The Challenger took off so rapidly that Tom had zero chance to recover, and just as before, he put the Challenger into the wall. Luckily, the damage was restricted to the rear of the Challenger this time. The Challenger was rebuilt (yet again), and Tom and the Challenger have been incident-free for over a decade.
Tom proves that these cars are meant to be driven, and for the last 15 years, the Factory Appearing Stock Tire class has provided an outlet for his multi-time restored and beautifully detailed Challenger to not just be driven, but driven hard. While Tom doesn’t race the Challenger in the same sanctioning body that Chrysler had envisioned, Tom has taken advantage of the factory performance parts Chrysler designed, and he has pushed the limits of those parts beyond any imaginable performance envisioned in 1970. How did Tom do it? Easy. He built it, rebuilt it, and rebuilt it again until the Challenger was a fast, FAST car.

This Summer, Protect Your Family from Dehydration
It’s that time of the year again when the temperature hits the roof, your sweat glands are exhausted, the humidity level is lethal, and your body’s water output exceeds the water intake. My kids are currently going to football classes around 4.30 pm when the weather is still not cooled down and I have to make sure they are hydrated at all times.
Just last week my younger one fell ill with stomach flu, vomiting and eventually that lead to dehydration. Luckily, we had a doctor in the building and the situation came under control before it could get worse. This got me thinking this mother’s day and I wondered how many of us know how to prevent dehydration?
Dehydration occurs when your body loses more water than it takes in, making it difficult to function normally. This is a very common issue that people face during summers. However, the magnitude of it may vary from one age group to another. We moms have to always think of everything, don’t we? To help you understand better, we are going to list down the signs of dehydration, along with simple ways to prevent it from happening.
How To Keep Your Baby Hydrated In This Summer Heat
Dehydration in Toddlers
It is very important to be alert and vigilant when dealing with toddlers, especially in summers. They need to be monitored closely and given water at regular intervals. In case you notice dry lips, dark-coloured urine, excessive sleepiness, fussiness or fast breathing, be sure to take immediate action as these are some of the signs of dehydration in toddlers. To keep toddlers hydrated, you can: • Feed them oral rehydration solutions. • Give them milk or diluted juice. • Make sure they are up-to-date with vaccinations.
 Dehydration in School Going Kids
Children tend to lose body fluids with routine activities like sweating, playing, crying, urination, stool, etc. In summers, this happens in excess and you need to replenish these bodily fluids in kids by feeding them the right kind of foods.
Give them fruits and vegetable that are rich in water content.
Keep replenishing their bodily fluids with electrolytes.
Make them bathe at least twice a day to combat the heat.
Make sure their water intake is enough and that they keep sipping water throughout the day. This is a tough one to monitor as kids will not be conscious of their water intake, so balance it out with other tips mentioned. I set a timer for water for myself and at the same time remind my kids to have water.
Pack them a fruit drink for school.
We make ice cream lollies at home with fruit juices which my kids love to slurp on. Find innovative ways to make sure they keep getting their bodies replenished.
 Dehydration in Adults and Seniors
Dehydration in adults is caused predominantly by excessive sweating, long hours of outdoor activities, and any illness that involves diarrhoea or vomiting. This often results in dizziness, frequent headaches, low BP or decreased urine output. To avoid these complications, you should: • Drink water throughout the day. • Eat food high in water content. • Avoid caffeine and alcohol. • Drink a cooling beverage of your choice.
Dehydration mainly revolves around a person’s intake of water, and one must not forget that during summers, there’s a high risk of water-borne diseases. Hence, it is important to buy water purifier that not only retains minerals but also removes impurities and kills bacteria.
You can even purchase water filters online, which gives you the opportunity to compare prices and features before choosing the purifier that suits your lifestyle. For instance, A. O. Smith, a leading global water technology company, has recently announced the “Greatest BuyBack Offer”, which gives its buyers an opportunity to return their existing water purifiers and get a new A. O. Smith 100% RO water purifier at a discount of Rs. 3,000.
So, whether you are planning to purchase a domestic water purifier or a water filter for commercial use, make sure to check for offers online, and this summer, beat the heat by keeping your family and yourself hydrated.
I hope you found our tips helpful and will apply them in your day to day lives. Keep reading and watching the blog for more and more summer tips.

Sathiyan Gnanasekaran is an Indian Table Tennnis player, currently ranked 49 in the world, is second Indian ever, after Sharath, to make his way into the top-50.He has been consistently ranked as one of the top table tennis player from India.
Here is an exclusive interview with India’s rising Table Tennis star Sathiyan Gnanasekaran:
Sportsflu: Tell us your inspiration about picking up Table tennis as a sport? If not table tennis than what and why?
Sathiyan:  It was just an accident. My father Gnanasekaran was working abroad and my mother Malarkodi wanted both my elder sisters Divya & Rekha to be engaged in a sport. TT center just started close to our house at that time.
She took me along as I was only 5 yrs old and could not leave me alone, at that time my first coach Mr.V.Chandrashekar & Mr.Ashok Kumar convinced my mom to put me in the sport when I was not even the height of the table.
If not TT, I don’t know may be an Techie or doing MS abroad as I come from a good academic background family and no one is a professional sportsperson in my family.
Sportsflu: Who is your inspiration/ whom do you aspire to become like looking at the players in the past two decades?
Sathiyan: My father is the biggest inspiration though he is no longer with us. He has come from a very poor family and was the first graduate from his family. He has worked hard always and doesn’t settle down until the work is completed and wants things to be done to perfection.
I have always had my own style and would like to create my own identity.
Sportsflu: Describe us your Biggest achievement so far which you are proud of yourself.
Sathiyan: Its really hard to pick one. I think the best 3 would be :
Commonwealth Youth Games 2008 Gold medal
Belgium open 2016 Gold medal
Spanish open 2017 Gold medal
Sportsflu: Tell us for our viewers your daily routine on & off training days. (Things like wake up time, hours of practice, Gym/exercise, diet, etc)
Sathiyan:  Wake up at 5am
Fitness from 6-7.30 am
Breakfast
Practice from 8.45-12.30
Lunch
Fitlight training (Reflex & reaction drills) 4.30-5pm
Practice from 5-8.30 pm
Dinner
(Practice includes customized skill training, multi ball training, service practice, ROBOT training, footwork drills)
Sportsflu: Who according to you is the toughest player ever to beat and why?
Sathiyan: The Chinese players are quite strong and not an easy nut to crack as their sporting ecosystem is quite good with strong foundation with proper techniques right from young age.
Sportsflu: Do you think that UTT will change the perspective of Indian fans toward table tennis as a sport.
Sathiyan: Definitely. I feel it has already made the sport popular. Leagues like this and bringing world class players to India and we competing with them will provide a great platform for players/coaches and also will be interesting to the viewers. UTT will definitely increase the eye balls in  the sport as also there is active media support.
Sportsflu: What are those few areas which TTFI must need to work upon to make Indian Table Tennis reach new heights?
Sathiyan: The federation has been quite supportive and sending us for international pro-tours and training camps frequently.
Sportsflu: How do you cope with a loss in a crucial match?
Sathiyan: Yes I do feel bad, probably immediately I just detach myself from the result and think on what went wrong. I don’t see it as a loss and will look it as an opportunity to learn and get better next time.
I mostly listen to calm music or watch some comedy scenes to distract myself from the loss.
Sportsflu: You’ve been on many tours and series abroad with Indian Players. Do you recall any funny moment which happened within team and can’t stop laughing about it even now.
Sathiyan: There were lot of funny moments together. But recently in Swedish open 2017, we guys played Pictionary and it was so funny as everyone were so bad in drawing skills (me, ghosh, harmeet & Sharath ) and found it very difficult for each other to find out what we actually drew .
We are better off on the table board rather than drawing board.
Sportsflu: Name a player with whom you wish to play against and as a doubles partner?
Sathiyan: Its always lovely to play along with Indian legend Sharath Kamal.
Probably I would love to play with/against Timo Boll.
Sportsflu: Your favorite table tennis players in men’s and women’s category
Sathiyan: Men- Timo Boll & Ovtcharov, Women- Ding Ning
Sportsflu: Your favorite movie, Actor and actress?
Sathiyan: 3 Idiots & Dangal
Aamir Khan & Kamalhaasan
Deepika Padukone & Priyanka Chopra
  Sportsflu: Your first coach ?
Sathiyan: Mr.V.Chandrashekar
Sportsflu: your first international tour ?
Sathiyan: Qatar open at Doha in 2005
  Sportsflu: Biggest achievement ?
Sathiyan: Hitting top 50 and winning two ITTF world tour titles
Sportsflu: A piece of advice for the Sportsflu’s young audience who aspires to become a Table tennis player like you.
Sathiyan: Work hard but smartly and be patient.
Focus on the processes and result will follow.
Believe in yourself and there is no shortcut to success.
Evreryone should play a sport even if not in competitive level as it makes u a great leader, develops team spirit and makes you a better person.
And definitely who knows extra curricular activity might turn into your profession.
All the best to everyone and don be afraid to take decisions even if it fails miserably.
Every failure is a learning process and You will get better and reach closer to victory.

Early Friday morning I had breakfast at the airport while watching planes landing and taking off to different parts of the world. I called my dad just before boarding at the gate. I told him “I wish I could fly to a new country every weekend.” My dad laughed knowing that I genuinely meant it and reminded me that I also needed to work in order to do so. As I always say “Nothing beats the feeling of jetting off to the sky and heading to a new destination.” Whenever I sit on the plane above the clouds and look at the clear sky from the window – I know I will be fine. It will all be fine. The whole world is open to me, it’s up to me what I want to do and where I want to go. My mind is peaceful yet my heart beats from excitement at the same time.
I’m quite old fashioned sometimes so my essential travel accessories in the cabin bag are pen, notebook and music. I like to know exactly the route we fly in order to know the places we fly across and to take photos with specified locations. As we were heading to Geneva, Switzerland, the flight itself wasn’t too long – 1.5 hours to be exact. Usually it takes an hour to fly across the Alps when flying from London to the other side of Europe. We booked a package holiday with Expedia including flights and hotel. We only paid £80 per person for the extended weekend getaway in November 2015. Well, the trip itself turned out to be the only cheap purchase during the holiday. Just a quick reminder, everything in Switzerland is expensive…unless you receive your salary from there. 🙂
We arrived in Geneva at 10.50am and discovered at the airport Information Centre we would actually be staying in France. So the hotel I had booked along with the package holiday was located in France – just over the border. At first the lady had to convince me few times before I believed she knew what she was talking about but then I thought “Great, two flies at once!”. When visiting Geneva, every tourist gets a free travel card for the duration of their stay. For us though it wasn’t the case as we were not staying in Geneva.
http://www.geneva.info/transport/card/
So we bought a travel card to the hotel. It’s so confusing that the same bus goes from Switzerland to France but you pay a considerably different price of the ticket depending on the country. Anyway, we got to Park&Suites Elegance Gaillard but had to wait until 3pm to be able to check-in. We went out to explore the neighbourhood while waiting for 3 o’clock and soon discovered Annemasse wasn’t the best area in Eastern France. Later on one of my colleagues told me it’s considered as one of the most dangerous areas of France. Well, not sure if that was exaggerated but we were nearly robbed while entering the local supermarket. I only understood the guy thought we’re Americans but all turned out well in the end when the shop assistants got involved. I understood it wasn’t the first time the person tried to steal something from foreigners. I did get scared because he was huge – tall and very muscular. He was also clearly under the influence of either alcohol or drugs. We decided to only walk towards Geneva, not further to Annemasse from there on.
While my partner took a nap at the hotel, I was planning the daily activities. Later on that afternoon we discovered it’s better for us to walk across the border and take a tram from Thonex, Moillesulaz to Bel Air. That night Jet D’eau was under maintenance as we couldn’t see it. We visited Metro Shopping Cornavin and the Christmas market in Geneva. We bought a take-away dinner from Manor Geneve, a fashion chain equal to House of Fraser or Selfridges. It was cold after the sunset but we enjoyed some window shopping before heading back to the hotel. At first we wondered why everyone was staring at my winter boots…so many people in France actually stopped and stared at my shoes. It was so absurd we thought both of us had gone delusional simultaneously. When window shopping, we discovered very similar looking boots that cost up to €500 so it made sense the people staring at my boots thought I was actually wearing gold. Hahahaha I wish!!
On Saturday it was sunny but cold. I had a coffee (€1.50) at the hotel mixing it with soya chocolate milk bought from Manor. We headed out and bought daily ticket to the tram which costs €7.30 = 8 CHF. We finally saw the famous Jet D’eau fountain and the harbour of Lake Geneva.
We had a take-away lunch from Manor once again before taking the bus 8 to Saleve. There’s a cable car that takes you up to 1097 metres up the mountain Mont Saleve. I was extremely excited of course, considering I had just taken a cable car up to Borgo Maggiore in San Marino, a year before. Monte Titano is 739 metres above sea level so I was excited to go even higher. My partner is terrified of heights so he was mourning all the way there “I’m not going, I’m not going… You can go by yourself…” yet following my footsteps. I actually started getting butterflies in my stomach until we reached the area and realised it was closed temporarily. My partner laughed of relief while I was quite disappointed. However if it’s closed, then it’s meant to be. I believe everything happens for a reason and it just simply wasn’t meant to be for us to go up there. I looked at the highest peak and Oh Boy, it’s soooo steep!! I would have been scared on the lift. We took some photos before walking down to the bus stop.
That evening we walked in Carouge which is compared to Greenwich Village, London. There were different activities such as ice-skating and outdoor chess in the park. We walked a lot before jumping onto the tram where a refugee girl and her brother started singing and playing piano. She had a really nice strong voice and after signing the song they were begging for money. We stopped at Minor, a local supermarket, to buy some groceries and chocolate as a souvenir. My partner then cooked for me in the hotel apartment as we had our own kitchenette. He bought a kebab outside as it was only €9. The biggest reason for me not eating out was that it was extremely difficult to find anything gluten free as a take-away. Also we were trying to keep up with our budget and eating out for dinner would cost an average of £70 at the time.
On Sunday we made brunch ourselves at the hotel where I got my €1.50 coffee with soya chocolate milk. We went to Spar Supermarche to buy some things for home such as gluten free baguette, tea, spices, olives… After the check-out from the hotel we had time to walk around Jet D’eau and Cornavin. We also did some clothes shopping in Chicoree just outside the airport. Mistakenly I thought the winter jacket I bought wouldn’t count as extra luggage bu I ended up wearing two jackets and my partner nearly got into troubles while carrying my extra bag through the gate. I will never forget the look on his face like “This is the last time!” Understandably that time of the year and the weather circumstances, there was a lot of turbulence while landing back to Stansted that night however we got home safe and happy.
Thinking back to our trip to Geneva, it was cold and expensive, but it was also beautiful and peaceful. The image I had of the city in one of the richest countries in the world was most definitely affected by the poverty I witnessed on the streets. There were homeless people begging for money not only on every station but on the streets as well. Perhaps it was once again my naïve nature getting hit by the reality and ever deepening recession at the time. The trip however brought us closer together and we started planning more trips. We realised that even if it’s a weekend getaway, spending quality time with each other improved our every day life so much. Any type of travelling is worth it, whether it’s a day apart on a business trip or a two-week-holiday together far from anywhere else.

Personal observations:
Just a quick update, 0.5 litres of water cost 5 CHF (equals to £3.90 or €4.30) and a sandwich cost 9 CHF (equals to £7 or €7.80) at the airport in Geneva.
A standard lunch excluding alcoholic drinks for two costs £35 and dinner costs £70. The prices vary according to restaurants, drinks, menu etc.
The nature in Switzerland is wonderful so if you have time, please explore the country and the mountains as far as you wish to. There is a variety of cities, villages, lakes and peaks of the Alps to explore. You can go skiing, hiking, horseback riding and canoeing in the best scenery possible.
Due to the location of Switzerland and its neighbouring countries, their official languages are German, Italian, French and Romansh. They also speak and understand English in most parts of the country. Latin language is used on coins and stamps.
Switzerland is often compared to or confused with Sweden however they have two completely different cultures. Switzerland is in Western-central Europe whereas Sweden is part of Scandinavia, Northern Europe.
I would recommend anyone to visit Switzerland – any part of it when you have a chance. There are also cultural differences in the areas that are close to the border of their neighbouring countries. They have naturally been influenced by the cultures close to them on the other side of the border. This brings out diversity not only in the languages and accents but in the culture as well.
Best regards,

Wood, 3 relievers combine on 3-hitter in Padres' win
By BERNIE WILSON, AP Sports Writer
SAN DIEGO (BNG)(AP) — Travis Wood settled in quickly with the San Diego Padres.
Acquired Monday in a six-player trade with Kansas City, Wood picked up on the energy of a young team that plays hard — even if it is mired in fourth place in the NL West — and got reacquainted with former teammates with the Chicago Cubs, Clayton Richard and Matt Szczur.
Then he went out and combined with three relievers on a three-hitter Friday night to help the Padres beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2. Cory Spangenberg tripled in the tying run and scored the go-ahead run on a ball four wild pitch in the sixth.
Wood (1-0) allowed two runs and two hits in six innings, struck out seven and walked one. He retired his last 10 batters after allowing Andrew McCutchen's two-run homer in the third.
"I was taking this opportunity like a fresh start," Wood said. "Come here and don't think about anything that has happened this season. Just come in and put in the work and help the ballclub out. This team has a lot of passion and wants to play well so I'm glad I can help the team."
Craig Stammen and Kirby Yates each threw a hitless inning before Brad Hand, the Padres' only All-Star, pitched the ninth for his sixth save, allowing only McCutchen's single. Hand extended his scoreless streak to 19 1/3 innings.
Wood had an RBI single in the fourth.
"Overall, you couldn't ask for anything more," manager Andy Green. "It doesn't surprise me at all. He was just in the midst of year that just wasn't going well. He gets a fresh start over here and you see who he is."
San Diego won its third straight while the Pirates lost their third in a row and for the fifth time in six games.
Spangenberg tripled into the right-field corner with one out in the sixth to score Jose Pirela, who was aboard on a single that chased starter Chad Kuhl. With two outs, Allen Cordoba walked but ball four was a wild pitch by Daniel Hudson (2-5), bringing in Spangenberg.
"I missed my spot, but it was still kind of a decent pitch," Hudson said. "Sounded like he broke his bat, but still did a good job staying inside, pulling his hands in and keeping it fair. Impressive."
Wood hit a bases-loaded single to left in the fourth to bring in  Spangenberg. The inning ended when Cordoba rounded second too far and was tagged out.
McCutchen hit a two-run homer with two outs in the third inning to reach 700 career RBIs. With Harrison aboard on a walk, McCutchen drove a pitch into the second deck in left field. It was his 19th.
McCutchen is the 13th player in team history to reach 700 RBIs.
The Pirates struck out 12 times.
"They got us in swing mode," manager Clint Hurdle said. "It was kind of the opposite of what we talked about. We were trying to get them in swing mode. They got us in swing mode. They executed their pitching plan pretty well, stayed out of the middle. Kept us off the barrel that's for sure."
Kuhl allowed two runs and four hits in 5 1/3 innings, struck out four and walked five.
TALK TO THE HAND
Hand has been the subject of trade talks, so this might be his last weekend with the Padres. He appeared in his third straight game, and has converted each of last four save opportunities.
If Hand is still with the Padres on Saturday, he'll probably get the day off. "He walked right of the mound and I was shaking his hand afterward and he said, 'I'm up tomorrow, right?' " Green said. "That gives you an idea of how he feels about it. He'd like to pitch every single day. But it's probably in our best interest and his best interest to give him a day at this point."
UP NEXT
Pirates: RHP Ivan Nova (10-7, 3.62 ERA) has won two of his last three decisions and five of his last eight.
Padres: Rookie RHP Dinelson Lamet (4-4, 5.92 ERA) is 2b-1 with a 4.30 ERA in four starts at Petco Park.
