I think a lot of you miss the point of legally blonde, Elle doesn’t succeed until she starts taking herself seriously. “Serious” is literally an arc word.

#I’m not gonna pretend there’s not hyperfeminine propaganda lmao #but it’s not my fault if that’s all you got from the movie #it’s an imperfect movie #but it’s also one where the rival women stop fighting each other and support each other instead #and the main character realizes she wants to take herself more seriously as a person #maybe you have to be blonde to get it 😔😔😔#I’m joking but also sort of not bc people will think you’re a bimbo simply for having a hair color #it is a huge Clinique commercial though lmao #idk I have a lot to say on the subject #i don’t even think the movie is about how “you can be feminine and badass at the same time!!1!” like a lot of li gems do #basically I think most people see it surface level #from all sides #basically I’m the only person who gets it smh

forever obsessed with dynamics between vampires, specifically that of a maker and fledgling, as a way to explore abuse. the creation of a vampire itself can so easily be a literalization of the lasting impacts of trauma and also much more simply the ways a perpetrator might shape their victim’s very identity. the extremes of isolation in the way that the new vampire, in most narratives, must cut all ties to their mortal life, or else go through an elaborate charade to maintain the facade of humanity, while forever still being removed from it. and the sheer dependence and vulnerability of being in an entirely new state of being, wholly uncertain of what it entails, and relying on another person to define… everything.

#or just the moral dilemmas #rewatching amc interview is kind of making me insane #that moment in episode two when louis is looking for a sort of assurance in the fact that lestat may actually have some good in him #look at how he cares about music look at the simple wondrous things that can bring him joy #and then the immediate dread when the opera performance turns out to be imperfect because he knows how lestat will react to *that*#I think there’s also something really interesting in the highlighting of lestat upbraids the less skilled singer before killing him #(slowly)#but also I will wait to watch more before I articulate my thoughts #vampires #interview with the vampire #amc interview with the vampire #i ramble sometimes #I do still find the lestat and claudia film and novel dynamic by far the most compelling for how she tries to usurp him but almost to be him #but I’m enjoying this #I’m very curious if I will like show claudia more on rewatch #the movie always resonated most with me (sue me lol) because there seemed to be more simultaneous fondness and attachment even at the end

Watched Wish last night for the first time and I have to say, after the king reveals that he doesn't make anyone pay taxes, I was cracking up.

POV: You built a brand new kingdom that is growing and people do not have to pay taxes to live here. Of course they don't; you're a sorcerer. You can do everything. Can you even imagine what people would think of you if you said you needed their money to make this city run? Hilarious.

Doing a little digging and it looks like the Internet hates "This Is the Thanks I Get?!" as a song (and it looks like my internal thoughts watching fit a lot of common opinions about how this movie doesn't work imo, which is interesting), but I think I'm gonna keep this song in my back pocket for insp. playlists for the sheer hilarity of "I let you live here for free and I don't even charge you rent" and "I'd love to see you try and do my job."

I mean, he's got a point- YOU try to make this place run without magic. And if someone new comes in and tries to force people to pay taxes for the first time in their lives, that might not end well for them.

Hm, definitely can't think of a society this mirrors in my own work... hhhhmmmm...
