Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were surprised to be alive after your cold fiancé pushed you into oncoming traffic when you got into an argument with him… all you had wanted was for him to show you that he loved you, but instead he killed you. Yet your life didn’t end… no. Far from it.
Rather than waking up in the supposed after life, you woke up in the Rerenth Kingdom. A fantasy kingdom in a magical world plagued with problems written in fiction novels. And the emperor explained to you, no, demanded that you to take on your role as Saintess to save them from the Demon King.
The demon king was now your enemy. Defeating him was the only way for you to go home… but did you even want to do that? In your last life and in this one, you were merely another unhappy pawn. The silk robes and dazzling abilities did nothing to shield you from the harsh reality of what your life has become once more… would you ever truly be free? Would you ever truly be happy?
The servants often spoke of the monstrous Demon King who controlled the forces of darkness that sought to destroy the light. A demonic entity none of the people in this kingdom had ever truly seen with their own eyes, but they believed him to be out there… how else were they to explain the supernatural happenings that plagued their kingdom? This entire ordeal made little sense to you since you hadn’t seen many disputes between humans and demons unless they were over territory. Vast majority of the time, it was humans that ventured into the demonic lands anyways. Was this perhaps some propaganda tactic? You didn’t know and you didn’t question it, you simply wanted to retire to a peaceful life.
It took a few weeks for you to be able to control your new holy power, but you were able to now harness it for barriers and for healing. Abilities that would be useless without a hero… a fact that the citizens soon realized so they began to devise another plan. To summon a hero!
Another few weeks passed by and they successfully summoned a valiant hero by the name of Reinhardt. His chiseled face was constantly covered by the taxidermied lion mask that adorned his face. The man was massive and intimidating, yet you couldn’t help but feel there was something familiar about him. You couldn’t place a finger on who he could possibly be since you didn’t know anyone else with an imposing stature like his but that gut feeling never left you.
Reinhardt would often glance you up and down when he thought you weren’t looking. His green eyes would bore into yours until you felt as if you’d be set ablaze. He was terrifying to you. Especially now that you were on a journey with him to defeat the demon king… along with a fox beastwoman fighter and an elven mage who had joined your party due to the emperor’s order. The Emperor didn’t see you to be enough aid to the hero on this important quest.
Both adventurers were quite rude to you at first since you had no offensive abilities. They often fawned over the hero who blatantly ignored their affections to instead watch over you like a hawk. A fact the two women didn’t really enjoy, but they accepted it as the weeks melted into months. And you still didn’t know their names since they never told you (and Reinhardt never spoke).
The three of them often fought and killed monsters and demons while you protected the supplies and healed their injuries. It upset you that your party ambushed them since the enemies usually were unarmed. Majority of the time, it was a one-sided slaughter. An endless bloodbath that you had no power to stop.
You often lied to your peers about monsters hiding, unaware that your small act of kindness would lead to a snowball effect in the future. You had now caught the eye of an entity much stronger than you and the hero’s party… all because you were merciful. You were kind and sweet. A true saintess.
Your softness had made your peers joke about you being a cry baby. The elven mage and beastwoman often jabbed their elbows into your side to joke about the tears you’d cry because they thought you were scared. The dense women never realized your tears were for the innocent monsters they slaughtered on a day to day basis too. You were never scared of the demons or monsters, you were scared of them.
Yet Reinhardt nipped the subtle bullying in the bud by shoving the other two adventures away from you with his strong arms. He always made sure you were safe before he offered his body for healing… which he’d just make gesture at you with his hands rather than speak. It seemed he was fond of you, a fondness you didn’t understand since he never spoke to you.
Reinhardt would often pick you up without asking you and tuck you into the crook of his large arm. It bothered you that he never took off his mask, but he had quite an attractive jawline with the slightest bit of stubble. There was not a doubt in your mind that Reinhardt was likely an attractive man, but that didn’t matter. Since he was creepy.
Reinhardt never uttered a word to you but would always dutifully stand by your side (or carry you like some sort of damsel). He often reminded you of your ex fiancé with his stoic demeanor and his bewitching green eyes. And the staring. You swore you felt bare under his gaze even if you had multiple layers on.
And it wasn’t just his eyes you felt on you, you swore there was someone else watching you in the shadows and the possibility of you having another stalker made your skin crawl. Had you finally gone insane from having Reinhardt be around you 24/7? Or was there something sinister amiss?
Maybe that’s why Reinhardt so dutifully clung to you? Whether his protection was out of obligation or simply because he lusted for you, his presence did little to ease the extra set of eyes. In fact, he made it worse.
Wherever you were, Reinhardt was never far. He was with you when you bathed to stand guard. He was carrying you if you couldn’t keep up with him and the rest of the hero’s party. Reinhardt even began to stay in your tent with you…
He didn’t utter a word when he watched over you whenever you had nightmares. Reinhardt never woke you up from the horrific dreams of the man with pitch black hair and sharp talons pulling you into his lap and having his way with you. No, Reinhardt instead dragged his tongue down your tear stricken face in delight.
Reinhardt knew his actions were wrong, but he couldn’t help but fawn over your helpless form. You were so weak without his protection… you were a lamb sent to a slaughter that luckily had a herding dog with you. You should be grateful Reinhardt had such an intense interest in you, otherwise you could have perished earlier on at the goblin camps. Or those other two party members would have likely broken a few of your bones from rough housing. You were a frail bird that needed to be locked up at all times and Reinhardt was willing to be the one to do that! He would keep you safe, even if it took you years to understand even an ounce of his magnitude of feelings for you. He was a patient man!
It wasn’t uncommon for you to wake up in your tent with Reindhart’s imposing form standing over you ominously. You’d cry every single time, but he’d make no move to comfort you. Only stare.
Over the last four weeks, you begin to receive little trinkets in your tent on the daily. Delicacies that Reinhardt would immediately pitch once he saw them, but it filled you with anxiety that he was not the one slipping you those gifts… who on earth could be gifting you such pretty rocks and wild flowers?
You were flattered, just the tiniest bit, by the small, temporary gifts. They were much more welcomed than the iron grip of Reinhardt’s arms. Even though the sender made you anxious, it was nice to know that someone took you into consideration. It was a small action that filled you with hope. Perhaps you would be saved from this fate?
Shame you didn’t understand just how much those tiny gifts upset the hero. Your eyes should only be on him. Your entire purpose should revolve around him. Reinhardt wanted to find the individual who sent you these gifts so he could rip them limb from limb. You belonged to him and he would show you that you had no way of escaping him. You were going to be his bride! Whether you liked it or not, the hero had chosen you as his destined one!
Recently, you’d wake up to him laying beside you in your tent with his large arms wrapped around you. His Roman nose buried into the crook of your neck. This was far worse than him lingering in your tent since he had become so physical.
And your peers did nothing about his harassment of you. To them, it was cute that the hero was so ‘enamored’ with the Saintess! You’ve even heard whispers of how the emperor will no doubt arrange a marriage between the two of you once the four of you eliminated the demon king. It terrified you even more because you knew you’d have little say in the matter… your life was spiraling out of your own control once more. This time, into the arms of some brute with attachment issues. You didn’t want to marry another emotionally constipated man! You wanted to have freedom!
You often cried yourself to sleep which only made Reinhardt even more overbearing. He now would press kisses to your cheeks and cuddle his body into yours. Even in your dreams, you couldn’t escape this massive man. If only you could be saved…
And when you drifted off into an unnaturally heavy sleep, your barriers deactivated. An action that allowed the Demon King to finally slip into your party’s camp and take what he wanted. You.

ur isekai au got me interested in warrior cats again because as a kid I always looked for that specific fanfic but there were like. maybe 2 or 3, never finished or I just got uncomfy with the idea of being shipped w the cats. like no actually I’m here for the inherent horror and terror of being a cat, but having your human memories and forever being alienated from your peers in a way you can’t even confess to god about. because even if they did believe you, what’s anyone going to do about it? but you can’t even just accept your new life now. you still remember your mother’s eye color. also grappling with the “I’m a human I can’t fight cats that’s animal abuse.” to “…I have to defend myself if I don’t want to be mauled to death.” also teaching clan cats to say fuck
RIGHT!!!! I think I've read a few stories that sometimes play on the horror of being "found out" of what will happen when the supposed side characters you've been talking to finally realize you aren't the person you thought you were, and you can't even try and run away because the world you live in has a story that entangles you and keeps you there. I also just love the general horror of...body stealing? Like very few of the stories touch on where the original antagonist goes and I think only one of them that I've read (and fucking despised. i thought it was so fucking bad i'm so mad it's the only that's used this concept) has the original person/character in the body become an antagonistic force trying to get their body and life back. Like YOU are the horror monster here, the one who's stolen someone's life and are living it without them! I love that!!
And then you add the layer of ANIMALS into it. I've read a few that have the protagonists turn into animals and I always adore them, but since the protagonist has to inevitably turn back into a human for the sake of the romance plot, they never really linger on what it's like to become an entirely different species and since they almost never have the protagonists live with other animals, we don't get the isolation of it. I think the neatest I've read is a girl who turns into a messenger hawk during a war and she learns how to live like a hawk and communicate that she's a little smarter than he realizes (but it's got a lot of problems so temper expectations)
also glad to know we have the same punchline. i have a joke comic i need to finish up with that lmao

the other day you said something something love triangle but the real question is who would YOU choose
no polyam, someone's heart has to break
Ok ur ON.
First thing’s first: what’s our perimeters? What flavour of Love Triangle? Bakugou vs. Deku? Bakugou vs. Kiri? Deku vs. Kiri? Do we exclude Bakugou because I have an obvious bias? Add a different character for the fun of it? Shinsou vs. Monoma? Iida vs. Sero? Iida vs. Bakugou??? (Sorry, I just really like Bakugou 🥹) Do you guys want a little Villain action??? Dabi vs. Shiggy??? Dabi vs. Aizawa???? Aizawa vs. Hawks?????
And THEN—pretending we narrow that down, which Merms do we want in the ring? Are we talking true-to-life Merms (lazy, self-destructive, holds massive grudges)? Or Palatable Fic-ified Merms (stubborn about asking for help, passionate, loyal)? Do we treat this like I’ve always been apart of their world, or is this a isekai situation where I’m armed with meta-knowledge about them? (that seems a bit rude tbh…. going in knowing intimate things about them that someone else mightn’t 🥺)
This is my proposed scenario, just so we have something to answer with, but feel free to send more challenging ones lmfao:
Palatable Fic-ified Merms, always apart of the BNHA world, and it’s between Bakugou and Deku (because I’m currently writing them).
We’ll go with my usual m.o. as a set-up: civvie, not apart of the Pro Hero world (bc id rather die lmfao), maybe in some kind of service-based industry to facilitate a meeting! I’m fairly good at people-focused jobs, and I don’t date/use dating apps, so to get into a relationship with me you’re either going to need to literally bang on my door, or we see enough of each other to form some kind of polite relationship that eventually ramps up.
Okay, so we’ll pretend we have that all done: what’s our inciting event? Do I get to know one of them before the other? Even if you had both Deku and Bakugou coming into [workplace] together, Deku is so much more of a people-person—he’s going to be the one that talks, that introduces the both of them—the one that anyone is going to get to know first. And since fic!Merms is me, I feel confident enough to say that that dumb bitch would be like “omg 🥺” about Deku immediately. He’s such a sweetheart! A people-collector! You end up in his orbit whether you want it or not! It would be so easy to get swept up by his goodness, I think, especially if you’re a tiny bit vulnerable (stubborn about asking for help).
Just to make things interesting, let’s give fic!Merms one of my greatest flaws—boop 🪄✨! now she’s insecure! So here’s this shiny, good-boy superhero who is like, how are you, how are things, we missed you the other week—and fic!Merms is just like, wow, he’s so nice, i will never indicate any interest ever :)
But uh-oh! Kacchan’s there! Kacchan who has Sneaky Introvert Syndrome—who notices everything!!! Because he’s watching!!! Silently!!!! Like a creep!!!! Kacchan’s not a dumbass—he’s going to clock immediately that fic!Merms has a crush on Mr. Oblivious Greatest Hero there. And tbh I think he’d just kind of roll his eyes about it (idiot extras, he thinks, unkindly)—until, uh-oh, something happens! The crush either gets us into an embarrassing situation, or a dangerous one (there’s an attack, and Deku shouts for us to get down, or something, but we hesitate because he’s hurt—and Kacchan has to barrel in and get us out of the way!). Afterwards, Kacchan tells us bluntly, “Either get over it, or pick your balls up from the ground and tell ‘im.”
“And what am I meant to do with them later on?” We ask, mulish. “Put them in the same purse as yours?”
“Drop ‘em again, since you’re so good at being a pussy,” Kacchan would say, unimpressed.
This doesn’t change a thing! 😌 We resolve to ignore him—only it’s a little bit hard to, sometimes, when Deku sweeps by with his easy smile and sunshine-yellow cape, and Bakugou’s beside him, flinty-eyed. 🥺 Ruining the view!!!
(“Tell him,” Bakugou says one day, stopping by without Deku. “‘M sick of your stupid moony face.”
“Shut up!” We hiss—this is embarrassing!!!
“Tell him,” he says, louder. “Or I’m gonna do it for yer.”)
It’s a nightmare! Sometimes a girl just wants a harmless little crush to waste time with, an indulgent lil daydream, and now we have this ASSHOLE stomping around demanding we ruin that for ourselves by doing something as stupid as confessing our feelings! Hateful!!! Why would anyone do something that dumb!!!
While that torment is happening, we end up eating out with them—Deku and Bakugou, and a couple of their friends. Crammed in some tiny bar, eating chicken skewers and grilled okra and holding giant glasses of cheap beer. And it’s easy. We’re wedged between Deku and Bakugou and their friends are friendly and curious and have funny stories—and it’s a good night! We don’t worry about our stupid crush being Revealed, or even meaning anything. Not until Deku turns to listen to us as we’re explaining, too excited, some personal project (something fun and dumb we do in our quiet time, alone) to one of the others—and he’s smiling because he’s glad we’re having fun and we fumble with our words because oh, oh no, he’s really close and it’s unnerving and we forget the point of what we were talking about—
“Yeah, and?” Bakugou prompts, annoyed, passing us a plate of more skewers. “Don’t just end it there, dumbass—explain it.”
(We launch back into our explanation—and completely miss the confused look Deku gives Kacchan, who’s determinedly not looking at him)
Oh but Merms, you say, this is too easy—Bakugou’s winning!
Nope! Wrong! Because while Bakugou was being a grade-school asshole, Deku was doing what Deku does best—being his shiny good-boy self! Stubborn about asking for help—one day after work (or during! sometimes you just gotta have it out!) Deku finds us, idk, crying or something.
“What’s wrong?” He asks with all this maddening concern, like he really cares (he probably does). “Are you alright? I’m here—it’ll be okay.”
Sometimes all you need is the right person to ask the right question at the right time—we blab it ALL. Whatever our [insert problem here] is, he hears it ALL. Traumadump! He’s probably a little baffled, but I think a few years of being a Pro Hero means he’s seen the worst of it, and then some—he stays with us. Accompanies us home, afterwards. Maybe we detour to grab dinner, and it ends up involving more venting, more reassurances—we have an emotional hangover when he leaves that night but!! Then our phone pings!!! It’s Deku, saying that he’s asked [insert another Pro here] who has a Quirk that can help/experience in [problem here], and that if it’s okay, they’ll [insert beginning of solution here].
It’s so—reliving. Overwhelming. When we see Bakugou next, sans Deku, and he decides to be Rude about our crush we’re a little harsher than usual, sharper, in telling him to shut up. And Bakugou’s not a dumbass—he knows immediately that something’s shifted. He drops it, his mouth tightening, and we are chilly to him (we’re chilly to each other) for weeks afterwards.
But how is this a triangle, Merms? You ask! Where is the choice when someone is just so good?
Haha! You walked right into it! Because while Deku is the overwhelming good, the outreached hand promising it’s okay, I’ve got you, I will fix this, Bakugou is smoulder, the force that pushes us into being something better, because we have to, because we always had it. Problems will generally get worse before they get better—ours snowballs, the help Deku wrangled in exacerbating the issue. We explode! Remember, we gave our Mermie stand-in some passion—so BOOM! We can’t hold it anymore! We unleash and it’s Bakugou who appears, during the wreckage—with his giant Sneaky Introvert Ears, and his stupid Sneaky Introvert face, watching us warily—carefully.
“C’mon,” he says. “You can lose y’re shit, but ain’t any use in giving up.”
(He’s right, of course, as much as we don’t want to admit it. But we get back up, and when it comes time to patching everything together he’s there—Mr. Sneaky Introvert Stand-by, who grumbles but doesn’t leave.)
Have you ever been caught between two people? And maybe they’re so different from each other, and you, on the outside—but on the inside they’re both made of the same golden soul, the same strength and determination and you want that for yourself, in yourself? So you try to match it: you try to prove that you can help yourself, that you can be just as brave and as wonderful. You try to prove to Deku that his kindness doesn’t exist in a vacuum—that it can be returned, even in small things (you help others; you have lunch waiting for him, sometimes. you reach out a hand to him when he’s having a bad day, an ugly day, a day that shuts him down and drains him out). You try to prove to Bakugou that you’re made of the same firepower he is—that you can wield it, just like he can (you stick up for yourself; you show up for others, without them asking. You grin at him when he walks in, unwavering. Unflickering).
Things always come to a head, though. Best Friends isn’t a term either would use for the other—they both save that for other relationships, formative ones that built them up in ways neither of them were equipped to do for each other at the time. It isn’t enough to describe what they are to each other. What they have been. It doesn’t describe how they know each other like the ins and outs of their own souls, and how that means they can see it when the other eases in your presence. When one of them laughs too easily (Deku), or grins too sharp—sudden and bright and unexpected, like lightning (Bakugou). They don’t talk about it. It’s almost a kindness… until something goes terribly, terribly wrong (a massive villain fight, upending half the city and leaving it in embers), and one of them is caught in the blaze of a building, trying evacuate it—the other bleeding out in the middle of the battle-field, their latest threat curling over them, gloating.
We’re about to lose them both! But facing this, seeing this, one thing is clear—the worry for them, for them both, is hot and sickly and awful, but there’s one face we think of first, when it happens.

Across the Netflix-Verse: Joshua Sumter Meets She-Ra and the Princesses of Power SYNOPSIS: When creative and autistic Joshua Sumter teams up with orphan-turned-heroine/warrior princess Adora, Etheria will never be the same! But together, they just might save the universe.
Think you know the story of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power? Etheria (and the Netflix-Verse) will never be the same as Joshua Sumter stars in his own self-insert, Isekai-turned-multiversal, retelling epic that not only flips the script on the hit animated reboot from DreamWorks and Netflix by ND Stevenson to reimagine and change the events of the show...but also spans across the wild, the wacky, the scary, the magical, the mythical, and sometimes very mature worlds and universes of the Netflix-verse, a multiverse featuring your fan-favorite Netflix shows and movies. Based on the hit animated She-Ra and the Princesses of Power series and in the tradition of Space Jam (1996), it's an Isekai-turned-multiversal, dimension-spanning epic that reimagines the narrative of the show -- with the inclusion of Joshua Sumter as an unlikely, live-action hero who finds himself on a strange, animated world and beyond that is familiar but slightly changed.
Life was carefree for creative and autistic Joshua Sumter (That would be me) of Earth (Our universe, the real world). That is, until he lands smack-dab into the war-torn planet of Etheria, the world of the animated reboot She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, where an ongoing, full-blown war ensues between the princess-led Rebellion that wants to maintain peace and harmony for all of Etheria and the dreaded Horde that wants to conquer the planet in the name of its leader, Hordak.
At first, Joshua believes under the impression that everything going on is all just a dream of himself being in a reinterpretation of the rebooted TV series from the 80s as a full-fledged guest star, taking the first steps of his very own Isekai adventure when he bumps into Adora, Glimmer, and Bow, then hangs out with them, unknowingly accepting the full invitation to join in on the fray as a feature of his dream (all the way from Season 1 to the Battle of Bright Moon). But Joshua's enthusiasm falls flat when he quickly gets wrapped up in some very serious stuff during that experience, letting his newly-found zany antics and madcap-style wits guide his ideas and actions enough to make Joshua fully consider the oddest possibility that this is not a dream after all.
Now forced into a whole, new universe, surrounded by characters he now considers his new Etherian pals and is completely aware that he's starring in his very own self-insert retelling of the animated show while helping Adora, Glimmer, Bow, and more allies like Perfuma, Mermista, Frosta, Sea Hawk, Spinnerella, and Netossa in the fight against the Horde, Joshua decides to flip the script on the She-Ra and the Princesses of Power series to make some changes around here his own way by reimaging and changing events of the show that'll help turn things around for the future of Etheria and Adora's destiny...sort of. As Joshua continues to influence the characters with his awesomeness in the form of a hard-hitting baseball bat as his holy-sword-like weapon, his sense of imagination, his Official Handbook-level knowledge and more, Adora and her friends wonder about what they make of him and his bizarre, other-worldly perspective of the world they live in. Along the way, Joshua gets into numerous comedic adventures across the Netflix-Verse, a multiverse of worlds and universes from your favorite Netflix shows and movies, where he went to so many different worlds and made so many heaps of new friends (and enemies) in those respective worlds along the way. With the help of the corporeal and ethereal Emblem spirit of the previous She-Ra, Mara, as well as the animated worlds of the Netflix-Verse, will Joshua be able to beat the odds and help his new Etherian pals out of a real jam by saving the world his own way from a much, bigger threat than the Horde? Featuring the worlds of your favorite Netflix shows and movies such as The Cuphead Show, Green Eggs and Ham, The Dragon Prince, Tiger & Bunny, We Can Be Heroes, Lego Elves: Secrets of Elvendale, The Sea Beast, Maya and the Three, Nimona, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, Firedrake: The Silver Dragon, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, My Dad the Bounty Hunter, Dragon Age: Absolution and more, be prepared for a block-busting, hard-partying, mind-blowing, world-hopping, fourth-wall-breaking, live-action/animation mayhem in this self-inserting tale that spans both our world and theirs.
DISCLAIMER: In the tradition and style of Space Jam (1996) meets Epic (2013) with a hint of Chip n' Dale: Rescue Rangers (2022), the Kingdom Hearts series, Gwenpool, and other Isekai tropes, Across the Netflix-Verse: Joshua Sumter Meets She-Ra and the Princesses of Power basically reimagines and changes the narrative of the show (Seasons 1-5), but with the inclusion of, yours truly, Joshua Sumter, and new twists and different outcomes inspired by some of the She-Ra and the Princess of Power fan fictions than the ones in the actual show for "anyone who wants to enjoy an entirely, different story with some few changes".
The Netflix-Verse, as the name implies, is a shared multiverse of worlds and universes that are mostly based on, inspired by, and from your favorite Netflix shows and movies in the tradition of Powerpuff Girls: Super Smash-Up!, Sonic Prime, Space Jam: A New Legacy, and the Kingdom Hearts series. The main hub of the Netflix-Verse is a vast expanse of space between that resembles Netflix's home menu, composed and surrounded by posters that served as gateways to these worlds. From the wild, the wacky, the scary to the magical, the mythical, the epic and sometimes very mature, it's a dimension-spanning epic into these Netflix-based worlds.
Inspiration details and allusions:
Space Jam (1996) and Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021) -- Just like how Michael Jordan and Lebron James are live-action superstars entering a spectacular animated world and teaming up with the Looney Tunes in their two movies, Joshua Sumter (That would be me) does the same as he gets forced into the animated world of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power to help Adora and her friends in the princess-led Rebellion in their ongoing war against the dreaded Horde.
Epic (2013) -- M.K. is a teenager finds herself transported to a deep forest setting where a battle between the forces of good and evil is taking place. In similarity, Joshua is a grown, autistic young man who finds himself transported to a war-torn planet based on a rebooted TV series from the 80s.
Kanji Tatsumi's storyline from Persona 4: Arena -- In Persona 4: Arena, Kanji Tatsumi still thinks that everything in the entire P1-Grand Prix tournament is all a dream until he eventually finds out it is in fact not, so when Joshua first lands smack-dab in Etheria, he believes that his experience in Etheria from Season 1 to the Battle of Bright Moon is all a reinterpretation/Isekai adventure dream, that is...until he eventually later finds out that it's not a dream when he reaches the first episode of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power's Season 2.
Kingdom Hearts and PowerPuff Girls: Super Smash-Up! -- The Kingdom Hearts franchise features Disney-based worlds and how Sora embarks on an epic journey across the multiverse and encounters Disney and Final Fantasy characters in their respective worlds and helps them while the Powerpuff Girls: Super Smash-Up! comic crossover mini series is a dimension-spanning epic inspired by Batman: The Brave and the Bold where Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup visit other Cartoon Network universes. In Across the Netflix-Verse: Joshua Sumter Meets She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Joshua did the same thing - this time, it features worlds and universes that are mostly based on, inspired by, and from your favorite Netflix shows and movies. In actuality, the She-Ra and the Princesses of Power world Joshua was first isekai-ed into was one of the Netflix-based worlds in the Netflix-Verse, so he then later goes on a world-hopping journey across the Netflix-Verse and encounters main characters in their respective worlds like The Cuphead Show, Green Eggs and Ham, The Dragon Prince, Tiger & Bunny, We Can Be Heroes, Lego Elves: Secrets of Elvendale, The Sea Beast, Maya and the Three, Nimona, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, Dragon Age: Absolution and helps them out.
Emblem spirits from Fire Emblem: Engage and the Soul transferal from Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles -- The corporeal spirit incarnation of Mara, the previous She-Ra, is in her ethereal appearance and bluish glow, interacting with the world and fight. Moving her soul into Joshua's body, along with prior knowledge of her past, the transferal allowed Mara to communicate with Joshua as if living in their mind, offering him advice and intent on providing guidance. Joshua is unaware that Mara's strength made him fights like an entirely different person with a hard-hitting silver-ironed baseball bat as his holy sword-like weapon, wielding it like a hero's sword.

papy request! choose for every diff pap a different fanfic trope <3
Oh boy fanfic tropes uhhh okay okay I will do my best! I’m not super well versed in fic and tropes so bear w/ me here lol
.
Rus (undertale) - devoted knight. Not to one person, rather a cause. His friends and loved ones, protecting them, taking care of them, by whatever means he has.
Edge (underfell) - collapse. He works himself so hard, it was bound to happen eventually. He’s not going to learn his lesson.
Stretch (underswap) - overheard at the worst possible time. Whether it was his secret spilled or he found something out he wasn’t meant to, I feel like Stretch is very good at finding himself in the wrong place at the wrong time without fail.
Copper (swapfell metal) - (platonic) slow burn. He’s a stubborn asshole but with enough goofing off and late night talks, he might open up a little, and be better off for it.
Ghost (fellswap glass) - framed. Uh oh! Looks like you’ve been framed for a crime you didn’t commit, and now it’s up to you and you alone to find a way out of this. Good luck!
The rest under the cut!
Uno (glitchedswap) - disappearance. It’s been many years since the sudden unexpected disappearance of Papyrus Gaster, but the hole his absence left still seems to be growing.
Heartfell Papyrus - soulmate birthmarks with a twist. That twist being that…he doesn’t seem to have a mark. Oh dear.
Lace (lovefell) - heartbreak in the rain. Self explanatory.
Rosewood (mafialovefell) - curse. He’s had a curse put on him, and only true loves kiss can break it...
Boss (mafiafell) - isekai. I would love to put his ass in a situation. /j but seriously. “Medical malpractice”. He is subject to experiments beyond his control. It does not end well.
Luck (mafiaswap) - lost the bet. Like rags to riches but in reverse. Will he be able to climb back to the position he once had?
Hawk (mafiatale) - poison. Uh oh! You’ve been poisoned. Is this gunna end at the hospital or the morgue?
Dove (horrortale) - second chances. He deserves a new lease on life, after everything…right?
Rust (horrorswap) - memory loss. He loses his memory in a terrible accident…but maybe that’s for the best.
Dusk (horrorfell) - life candles. And his has almost run out…
Ice (invertedfell) - (platonic) forced confessions. Trapped with a friend in dire circumstances and after a point, all they have left to pass the time is talking.
Clover (sweetswap) - flower shop. He’s always loved how colorful flowers are, even if he’s been partially colorblind since his accident.
Pictoris (outertale) - arranged marriage. But maybe it won’t be so bad after all..?
Aurigae - (platonic) slow dance. He gets pulled into dancing by a friend. He was having a terrible day, but…that helped. Maybe more than he’s even willing to admit.
Antares (outerfell) - space pirate. Is this a trope? I honestly don’t know but I love the concept and am standing by this.
Elester (demonfell) - absurd meet cute. He’s a demon, he needs to be placed in the story by extreme means, right?
Dos (glitchfell) - ghosts of the past. Something from his past is haunting him, and he can’t outrun it forever.
Void (vesselfell) - [redacted] coffee shop. He likes coffee :*)

Tags/Warnings: Season 7, Isekai, Universe Hopping, Canon-Typical Violence, Not Canon Compliant, Marriage, Angst, Cliffhangers, Falling in Love, Hurt/Comfort, Hurt No Comfort
Summary:
Cassie has gotten really invested in a new show "Supernatural". During her latest binge watch, she wakes up in a world that appears to be the actual "Supernatural" universe- and she knows exactly where she is in the timeline. She makes the executive decision to pick up Castiel and be his new "wife" before Dean comes to pick him up to heal Sam- but she can't make herself stay behind when events actually start to unfold. How will this affect the rest of the season? How long can she rely on her memory to prepare her for the future? And what will happen when the inevitable season finale rolls around?

Cassie munched on her popcorn while watching the drama unfold on the screen in front of her. She couldn’t look away for longer than it would take her to refill her bowl or go to the bathroom.
After she finished watching Hawk’s Shadow for the tenth time, she finally admitted she needed a new show to get into. After browsing through Netflix for a while and growing ever-more disappointed that all the shows that seemed interesting had only one or two seasons with major cliffhanger endings, something caught her eye.
Supernatural, a show following two brothers that hunted monsters following the unnatural death of their mother, was a show she’d heard about before but never had the time to get into. She looked at the episode count in the menu and it seemed daunting, but her research indicated it had a final finale instead of a last-ditch cliffhanger, so she decided to give it a shot. 5 episodes in and she was hooked. In the past few months, she’d binged through most of the 15 seasons.
The credits for the episode she was currently watching started to roll and Netflix had the audacity to ask her if she was still watching. A glance at her phone told her that she probably should stop for the night. But… She was almost at the season finale. It would be better to end her session on a big episode like that so she could spend the next day digesting it, right?
Yes. She was still watching.
As the previews for the next episode rolled on, Cassie felt, and did her best to ignore, the pull of sleep. Despite her best efforts, she fell asleep about halfway through the episode and the roar of the impala lulled her into a deep slumber.
Cassie woke with a start the next morning, fumbling for her phone and cursing herself for falling asleep. She was going to have to figure out where she left off and mess up her Netflix history and-
She wasn’t on her couch. Nor was she in her bed. Well, she was in a bed but she knew it wasn’t hers. In fact, this didn’t look like her apartment at all. And the phone she just pulled off the charger didn’t look like hers either. It was a slightly older model (not that she always had the latest one) and had a different, generic home screen.
Where was she? Where was her stuff? And what the hell had happened after she fell asleep last night?
—---
After a lot of poking around on the internet (did it always have this few ads?), Cassie could confidently say that she did have an identity as Cassandra Perez here in this strange world. But that was where all the similarities ended.
This Cassandra Perez lived in Colorado, for starters. Her parents were dead and she was an only child. She also worked as a dance teacher at the local community college, not in law enforcement. She’d never been to Texas and never worked with anyone named Cordell Walker, not that her partner seemed to exist in this world.
Who did exist in this world? Sam and Dean Winchester. And a certain trenchcoated “man” who went on a Word of God spree before disappearing earlier this year. Oh, and also that year was 2011, not 2023.
She may or may not have had a major panic attack after piecing all that info together.
Once she calmed down (and called off work for the next few days), she tried to get her bearings. All the information pointed to her somehow ending up in the Supernatural universe via falling asleep on her couch. If she was remembering her Supernatural timeline correctly, recent events would put her right at the beginning of the season 7 plotline. Castiel was believed to be dead and Sam was dealing with hallucinations of Lucifer and his time in Hell. Oh, and the Leviathans were on Earth and planning to turn humanity into willing livestock via a special additive in processed foods that not only made them fat and lazy (or, well, more so than average) but also killed any humans that had undesirable traits like cancer and being skinny.
Was there ever a better time to pick up a vegan diet?
But there was something else. It didn’t hit her until she attempted making breakfast the next morning (she couldn’t, because apparently TV fridges aren’t magically full of food every morning if you actually live in TV land). That something else was that Castiel wasn’t actually dead. He was going to come out of the water at some point, somewhere in Colorado, with no memory or clothing.
Yes, someone was supposed to find him. She knew that. But she also knew that she wasn’t supposed to be here. What if that changed things? What if she somehow took the place of the person who was supposed to find him (and that fireplace/sitting room did look familiar….)
She looked up the nearest rivers on her laptop, then grabbed the keys for a car she’d never driven before, and went searching.
—----
She’d found Castiel climbing out of a river into a jogging trail near her house. She called it an act of God because, really, what were the odds that he’d be in the first place she checked? If there was anything she knew about Supernatural, it was that everything happened for a reason. She took him home, got him cleaned up, and ordered them pizza (because her fridge was still empty).
“I don’t remember anything,” Castiel said. “Not my name, where I came from, why I was naked in the river…. There’s just nothing.”
“Well, you remember how to use the bathroom so there must be something up there.” Cassie winked and set a full plate of pizza in front of him. “We’ll figure out your memory stuff later; right now you need to recover and then we need to get you some clothes,” she said, gesturing to the robe that didn’t really fit him.
He nodded and started nibbling on a pizza slice. “Thank you for doing all this. I know you don’t have any responsibility toward me.”
She shrugged. “Maybe. I just…. You need help. And I want to help you. It’s…kind of a thing I do.”
“It’s very kind of you. I may not remember much about the world but I know it would be a better place if there were more helpful people in it.”
Cassie turned around (because she needed to clean up the pizza box not because she’s blushing) and hummed. “Maybe so. Anyway, finish up eating and we’ll get you settled back into life in the real world, alright?”
She needed to tread carefully. She’d seen the show. She knew how this story ended. In a few months, Dean Winchester was going to show up and take Castiel (or, rather, Emmanuel) to the psychiatric hospital to fix Sam. Castiel would take on Sam’s hell trauma and be left a shell of himself until it was time to take on the Leviathans. Then, they would both end up in Purgatory. The story was already written. She couldn’t change it. She just needed to play her part.
She wondered if this impending sense of doom and ‘if only’ was how Sam and Dean felt when they were staring down the apocalypse.
—----
“I need a name,” he said a few days later. “I can’t remember my own name but I’m going to need one if I’m going to live in this world.”
“Well, we can get one for you.” Cassie said. “You want to just look up a baby name website or go with a basic John Smith?”
Castiel frowned. “I don’t think ‘John Smith’ is appropriate. I need a real name.”
“Okay then.” Cassie got her laptop and opened the web browser to find a baby name website. “Let’s get you a name.”
They tried a few different baby name sights but nothing really stood out to them. She noticed that the ones he liked but claimed didn’t “fit” were more biblical, so she went to her bookshelf and grabbed a bible. “Maybe we can find something for you in here,” she said, handing it to him. “Have a look. I’m going to make dinner, okay?”
The next morning, he’d found his name. Castiel.
—-------
Cassie knew she shouldn’t let herself get attached. She knew that one day, Castiel would have to go off with the Winchesters and play his part in saving the world. She knew her part in his story was only supposed to be temporary.
But, as she’d learned long ago, her heart was rarely as smart as her brain.
It was one thing to watch him on the show and think his quirky behavior was kind of endearing. It was very different to be with him in person and see every side of his person.
Sure, he wasn’t technically himself at the moment. But, even without his memories, he was still Castiel at his core. He was self-righteous with a strong moral code. He did his best, even if he fumbled. He was a bit awkward and a bit of a failure but he made up for it with his heart and enthusiasm.
It was hard for Cassie not to fall for him, if she was honest.
It’s not like there was any flirting. Even as a human with no memory of his angel self, Castiel didn’t seem to have his angel capabilities. Castiel was just existing. And yet….
Castiel would keep the house clean so Cassie didn’t have to worry about it when she came home from the dance studio. He always had dinner hot and ready for her when she was out of the shower. He packed little snacks for her to eat at work (“I know you don’t give yourself enough time for a full meal.”). He dutifully sat and watched Hawk’s Shadow with her (the fact that her favorite show existed in this universe was confusing but she wasn’t questioning it), even if he didn’t get any of the references. For the first time in a long time, Cassie felt like she was in a real relationship with someone. Who cared if that someone was an amnesiac angel from another universe?
She tried to enjoy it, even as the dread of their impending doom ticked closer with each passing day.
—-----
“We need a reason to be living together.”
Cassie looked up from the morning paper. “Do we? I mean, can’t we just say we’re roommates?”
“I don’t pay rent.”
“You’re a friend I’m letting couchsurf.”
“I don’t surf and you don’t have a couch.”
“That’s not-” Cassie sighed. “Do we really need an explanation?”
“People will have questions, surely. We need an answer for them.”
Okay, maybe he had a point. Luckily, there was an easy solution to this. “What if I was your wife?”
“My….wife?” Castiel tilted his head. “You would do that for me?”
She shrugged. “Sure. I mean, I like you and I want to help. Besides, what’s the alternative? I buy you a suitcase and you just go off on your own? That’s not right. Anyway, I’ve got the day off tomorrow so we can just go down to the courthouse and-”
“Cassie, wait.” Castiel grasped her hand. “You really don’t need to do that.”
“Maybe I don’t need to. But I want to. Besides, my abuela’s been on my ass about getting married forever; you’ll be helping me too.” And also I’m slowly falling in love with you and I’m terrified of the fact that I’m going to lose you in less than a year.
“Well, if you’re sure….”
“I am.” Cassie grabbed his hand. “Let’s go get married.”
—---
They didn’t find out his healing abilities until later. Or, rather, Castiel didn’t find out about his healing abilities until later. Cassie was just wondering when they would pop up and how he would start his traveling healer enterprise.
She was cleaning the gutters (seriously, what was the point of living in TV land if you still had to do everything yourself???) and fell off her ladder, right onto her arm. Her pained cry drew Castiel from the house and he rushed over to help her.
He helped her sit up and gently held her arm. “It feels broken.” He gave her a sympathetic look when she winced. “I-I should call a doctor….”
“Yeah,” she muttered. “Just- Sit here with me for a bit?”
“Of course.” He carefully held her broken arm, giving her a chance to catch her breath.
Then, she felt it. A cool feeling enveloped her arm and she gasped as she felt the bone knit itself back together.
“What is it? What’s wrong?” Castiel asked, brow knit with concern.
“I- I think it’s fixed,” she said. “I… I think you fixed it.”
“But- That shouldn’t be possible. How did I….? I just knew I wanted your arm to be healed….”
She swallowed hard. This was it. The next part of his story. The part where he became a traveling healer so Dean could find him again. The part right before he was ripped away from her home and off into oblivion. And she had to play along. “And you healed it. You have a special gift.”
Castiel stared at his hands. “I… I have a gift. A gift of healing….” He looked back at her. “I need to share this gift with others. I- There’s so many people sick and dying, or who can’t afford medical care…. I can help.”
She nodded slowly. “Yes, you can. And you should. I… We’ll figure something out about that. Together.”
As they went inside to start planning, Cassie tried to ignore the sinking feeling of regret in her gut.
—-----
She knew this day was coming eventually. She knew that a demon would show up and threaten her and Dean would show up in the nick of time. She knew that he could take Castiel away from her to heal Sam. She knew there was nothing she could do to stop it.
But that didn’t mean she wouldn’t put up a fight. “I’m going with you,” she said before Castiel could agree to go.
“Sorry, lady, I only need the healer,” Dean snapped.
“You really should stay, honey,” Castiel insisted. “You know I’ll be back in a few days.”
“No, I’m coming,” she snapped. “I’m your wife and I’m not letting you wander off with some stranger all by yourself.”
“I go off with strangers all the time,” Castiel replied, letting some irritation show.
“Not strangers that know how to kill demons!”
“Look, lady-”
“My name is Cassandra and if you call me ‘lady’ one more time, I’m gonna stab you with that magic knife of yours.”
Dean scowled at her. “Listen, Cassandra, I don’t have time to argue with you. My brother needs help and your husband is the only one that can help him.”
“And what’s the problem with me coming along then? I’m not stopping him from going, but I’m not letting him go alone.”
“Listen-”
“Sir, if I may.” Castiel stepped between them and herded Cassie into the other room. “Listen, Cassie, I understand you worry for me but this is going a bit far. Can you at least tell me why you don’t want me to go alone?”
She sighed. “I- Look, I know this is what you do. You go off for days at a time, you heal people, and then you’re home for dinner. And that’s just one of the things I love about you. But this…. This is different. He knows what demons are and he’s asking you to go heal his brother…. Do you think he’s maybe not telling us the whole truth? I just…. I worry. And I’ll feel better if I come with you. I promise I won’t get in the way, I just want to be there for you. I mean, that’s my job as your wife, right?”
Castiel nodded. “I understand. I’ll be happy to have you with me. I’ll just explain that to Dean and that I won’t come without you.”
She squeezed his hand, grateful for his understanding. “Thank you.”
—-------------
Dean was, naturally, very annoyed about having to cart her around along with Castiel but he needed his brother healed so he didn’t argue it any further. Cassie sat in the backseat of the impala (and boy wasn’t that a trip) while Dean and her husband awkwardly talked in the front seat.
She knew where they were going. She knew what would happen. She knew she couldn’t interfere (more than she already had). And she hated every second of it.
“So how’d you two meet anyway?”
Castiel answered before she could. “Cassie found me; it was like an act of God, in a way. I was naked, no memories, nothing… And she took me in. Gave me home, helped me find my purpose. I don’t know where I’d be without her.”
Dean glanced at her in the rearview mirror. “And you just did that out of the goodness of your heart?”
“I like helping people,” is all she said.
Dean huffed. “So you’re just an altruist then? Good for you.”
Cassie glared at him but stayed quiet. If she didn’t want to get kicked out of this little traveling party, she would need to play nice.
For now.
—-------
Cassie knew they would run into demons at the convenience store. She tried hard not to look like she was looking for them. They would find her and Dean regardless.
Maybe that was why she saw the demons first. “Dean! The knife!” She held her hand out and caught it when he (thankfully) threw it at her without a question. She stabbed the first demon in the gut, ducked the second one’s punch, then stabbed it in the back. She tossed the knife back to Dean so he could handle the other two.
“Thanks,” he said, panting softly. Then he looked at her, suspicion written all over his face. “How’d you know the knife would kill them?”
“Well, number one, you killed one in front of my house. And…. There were these Supernatural books-”
“Oh god.” Dean facepalmed. “No further questions. Let’s just grab some road snacks and get out of here.”
“Planning to rob the place like a criminal? I thought you were better than that Winchester.” Meg stepped into the store.
Dean stepped in front of Cassie and pointed his knife at Meg. “What the hell are you doing here?”
Meg held up her hands, showing her angel blade. “Relax; I’m not here to hurt anyone. I’m here to offer my services. You do realize that everyone in hell is looking for your boyfriend, right? You could use an extra set of eyes and hands to look after him.”
Dean rolled his eyes. Cassie stayed quiet while they argued. She knew where this was going.
—--------
They arrived at the mental hospital after a few more hours of driving. Cassie stayed with Castiel while Meg and Dean bickered over whether to tell Cas the truth.
“I’m glad you came,” Cas murmured, holding her hand. “This is all…quite overwhelming. And I’m not sure I trust either of them.”
“Told you so.” Cassie smirked and got up on her toes to kiss his cheek. “I told you when we got married, didn’t I? I’m always going to look after you.” She knew she couldn’t protect him from everything, but she would be there nonetheless.
Eventually, Dean and Meg came back over to them. “Okay, look, Castiel, I know you’re a healer but we’re going to need you to knock out those demons standing guard,” Dean said.
“No,” Castiel said. “I-I can’t do that.”
“You can,” Meg said. “Just focus and use those special powers of yours so we can get in and save Sam.”
Castiel shook his head, turning to Cassie for help. “I can’t. They’re demons. How- How could I….?”
Cassie bit her lip. She knew he could. But how could she explain that to him. “I… Well, we didn’t think you could heal people either. And that is a lot of demons. I think it’s more than Dean and Meg can handle on their own, at least not without alerting any other demons that might be around. Maybe… You could at least try….”
Castiel looked between her and the demons. “Are you sure?”
She nodded. “Just try. We’ll be right behind you in case things go wrong.”
Castiel looked to Dean and Meg, who nodded, and then back to the demons. “...Okay. I’ll try.”
They made their way down to the hospital entrance, Castiel in front, then Dean, then Meg, and Cassie taking up the rear.
Castiel only had to put his hands on the first demon to smite him. Then, it happend.
“I remember.”
Cassie watched with bated breath as Castiel finished off the demons outside the hospital and came back over to Dean and Meg. She tried to catch his gaze but he seemed to be deliberately looking away from her. “I remember everything,” he said. “Everything I’ve done…. Where is Sam? I need to try and fix what I did to him….”
“He’s just inside. I’ll take you to him.” The group moved to head inside, but Castiel stopped Cassie right before she could step in.
“You don’t need to come in, Cassie,” he said, still not looking her in the eye.
“I do.” I need to be with you when you lose your mind. I’m not leaving you alone with Meg.
“You don’t,” Castiel insisted. “You came here to support your husband. That’s not who I am anymore.”
“I disagree.” She grabbed his hand, finally getting him to look at her. “I meant those vows. For better or for worse, right? Yeah, things are crazy right now, but I’m not running away. I’d never do that to you. I’m coming in and I’m standing with you and you’re not allowed to tell me not to.”
Castiel opened his mouth to argue with her but she kissed him instead. “I think you know me well enough to know you can’t talk me out of this,” she said with a soft chuckle when she pulled away.
Cas sighed. “Yes, I suppose I do. Come on then.”
They walked into the hospital hand in hand.
—-------
“I can take on his trauma. It’s the least I can do. It should help him function again. It won’t solve everything but… It should help.”
Cassie wanted to tell him not to. She wanted to tell him he meant too much to her for him to lose her like that. But she knew this was a mistake he had to atone for and she wouldn’t stop him from doing that. She’d just need to stay by his side and care for him, just as she had been.
She watched as Castiel touched Sam and took on the burden of the Lucifer hallucinations and other hell trauma. She winced when she saw fear enter his eyes and he pushed everyone away. She stayed there in the room after Sam and Dean left and Meg went to get “hired” at the facility. She slowly coaxed him into sitting on the bed and laying down to rest.
“I see him, Cassie,” he said quietly. “He won’t shut up….”
“It’s okay. I’m here.”
Cassie sat next to his bed and picked up the Bible that was sitting on the side table.
“What are you doing?” Meg asked, leaning against the doorway in her fresh uniform.
“He likes it,” Cassie murmured. “It’s where he got his name. Genesis is his favorite chapter.”
“That was before he got his memories-”
“He’s my husband.” Cassie glared at her. “Don’t tell me what I do or don’t know about my husband.”
Meg cocked an eyebrow but left the room. “Suit yourself.”
Cassie sighed and flipped to the chapter they’d left off on during their last reading session. “Okay, let's see…. Matthew chapter 3….”
—------
While Sam and Dean were gone, Castiel’s condition slowly improved. Cassie and Meg worked together to bring him out of the hell trauma shell. It was slow going and it was often 1 step forward, two steps back, but she wasn’t giving up. Bit by bit, they got him to sleep, then talk with Cassie, and even other patients in the facility. “They grow up so fast,” Meg joked when he successfully played a full game of checkers with a stranger.
She tried to focus on the good parts of this. She really tried hard not to think about what was coming next in the story. “I’m just glad he’s functioning,” she muttered. “I’m worried about him. About what’s next.”
“You worry too much, Cassie,” Meg said. “He’s on the mend. He’ll be up and kicking again in a few months, you’ll see.”
I don’t know if he has a few months. “You know, being a fake nurse doesn’t make you a mental health expert.
“Excuse me for trying to look on the bright side.”
“You’re excused.”
Meg chuckled. “I like you. You’re more fun than the Winchesters.”
“So are you.”
—-----------
Just like she remembered, Sam and Dean showed up to pull Castiel back into action. Just like she remembered, things went horribly and she had to pick up the pieces with Castiel. She barely even registered the appearance of Kevin and all the hubbub that came with that while she was trying to coax Cas out of his shell again.
And just like she remembered, things ended up with Castiel being called to action to track down the real Dick Roman and cut the head of the leviathan empire. She hated it, but there was nothing she could do.
“Are you sure that weapon of god is going to work?” she asked.
“We’re pretty sure,” Sam said. “We got all the ingredients- unless Crowley lies about his blood but he hates the leviathans more than we do so I doubt that- and we followed the ritual. It should work. We just need to get in and cut Dick’s head off and that should be the end of it.”
Cassie huffed. “Yeah, just go into a big building full of monsters that want you dead and hope you kill the right one. Oh, yeah, and also rescue the prophet of the lord and hope Crowley doesn’t get to him first. Easy peasy.”
Sam chuckled. “Honestly? It’s probably the easiest thing we’ve had to do in the last couple years….”
Castiel appeared next to them suddenly, holding plates of food for everyone. “I collected it myself; it should be safe.”
Cassie smiled and took her plate. “Thanks, honey. You should get some rest though, okay? You need your strength.”
“So do you.”
Dean rolled his eyes and took his food. “Get a room, you two.”
“Dean-” Sam didn’t get to finish his scolding as two angels appeared out of nowhere.
“Where is the prophet?” asked the blonde woman. “We felt that a prophet was activated. We need to take him to the desert to learn the Word of God.”
“Prophet’s not here,” Dean said. “Leviathans have him at the moment. You’re a little late.”
“We’ve been stretched a little thin,” the blonde one said curtly. “After all, someone slashed our ranks in half.” She glared at Castiel. Cassie subtly stepped in front of him. This was not going to go well.
“Hester, I’m sorry,” Castiel said. “I made mistakes, I know. But I-”
“‘Made mistakes’???” Hester screeched. “You call that genocide a mistake?! You killed our brothers and sisters! You tried to replace our father! You worked with a demon! That’s more than a mistake!” She threw up her hand, sending Castiel flying into the wall. She was on him in an instant, punching him over and over. Her companion tried to stop her, pleading that they’d lost so many already, but nothing was working.
Cassie had stolen the angel blade from Meg’s jacket before she’d even really realized what she’d done. She run over and plunged the blade into Hester’s back and the room lit up blue with her death.
Before the other angel could react, Cassie held the blade to his throat.“Tell your other angel friends to stay the hell away from my husband,” she hissed.
The angel disappeared without another word.
—-------
The appearance of the angels had everyone on edge, even Meg. Between that and all the news coming from Dick Roman’s headquarters, it was clear they had to get this taken care of. Cassie knew she should just let it happen and play her role on the sidelines, but she’d already interfered more than she should have. In for a penny, in for a pound, right?
“I’m coming with you.”
“No, you’re not.” It was the first thing Castiel had said for the whole conversation. “It’s far too dangerous for you.”
“I’m not some weeping damsel in distress. I’m coming with you.”
“Cas has a point,” Sam said. “I know he’s your husband and all but… You’re not exactly prepared for something like this.”
“Oh, and he is?!” Cassie snapped. “I mean, he’s my husband, but we all agree he’s certifiably insane and basically defenseless. And I’m supposed to trust that you two chucklefucks will bring him back alive?! No thank you; I can take care of him myself.”
“Cassie, that’s enough,” Castiel said firmly. “I understand that you’re worried about me but killing Dick Roman needs to take priority and I won’t be able to focus on that if I’m worried about you.”
“I can take care of myself!”
“You’re a dance teacher who read a bunch of books that happened to be accurate on the supernatural!”
I’m a Texas Ranger! she wanted to scream. I’ve killed people. And now I’ve killed demons and even an angel. I have killed for you and I will die for you and I’m not stopping that now. “I can help,” she said instead. “I mean, we still need to rescue Kevin, right? And the place will be crawling with leviathan. You need all the hands you can get!”
“Cassie, no.”
“But-”
“If I may.” Meg spoke up from her spot against the wall. “I’ve been keeping an eye on her for the past few months and I can say with absolute certainty that she is going to join your little mission whether you want her to or not. I think keeping her alive will be a lot easier if you actually know where she is, don’t you?”
Cassie had never been so grateful to have a demon around.
Castiel sighed. “Unfortunately, Meg is right about my wife’s stubbornness. Maybe it is better if she comes….”
“Cas, you can’t be serious!” Dean rounded on her. “You’re staying here or-”
“Or what?” Cassie stepped right up to him, standing as tall as she could to get in his face (a skill she’d practiced often with Walker). “You’re not taking my husband on a suicide mission without me. If you don’t take me willingly, I’ll just ride along in the trunk. Or I’ll make a demon deal and show up in the middle of it. But you’re not leaving me out of it. Do I make myself perfectly clear, Winchester?”
“He’s not your husband!”
“The hell he isn’t! We got married, we signed the paperwork, we made vows! I don’t care if he’s an angel of the lord or if he’s on the run from heaven or if he let the leviathans out and started this whole mess! I made a commitment to him and I’m seeing it through, regardless of what you say. For better or for worse, right?”
Dean rolled his eyes and turned to his brother. “Sam, tell the lady this is a bad idea and drive her home.”
“Dean…” Sam sighed. “Maybe we should take her. She seems pretty committed to it. Wouldn’t you rather know where she is than worry about where she might end up?”
Dean huffed and grumbled some more but eventually he gave in. Not that Cassie would’ve let that stop her if he kept fighting it.
Cassie grinned. “Alright then. Let’s pack up and move out; we’ve got a leviathan empire to dismantle!”
—----------
Cassie knew this moment would come. She’d tried to prepare herself for it.
But nothing could prepare her to watch the angel she loved be sent to a special kind of Hell. “Castiel!” she screamed, jumping forward and latching onto his trench coat.
A pulsing energy radiated through the room and she felt it on an atomic level.
Then, it was dark. And cold. And all of a sudden, she was in some very dark woods with Castiel and Dean Winchester. She knew exactly where she was. Purgatory.
She knew Castiel would leave. She knew why. But that knowledge didn’t make her feel any better when she realized her husband left her all alone despite all his concern for her safety earlier.
Dean’s hand wrapped around her arm. “Stick with me, Cassie. I’ll get us out of this. Somehow.”
She knew he would. Eventually. Somehow, that didn’t help her anxiety in the moment as glowing red eyes appeared in the forest around them.

im working on an isekai fic where some nobody gets reincarnated as a character in heroaca, but the hardest part is deciding WHO...
im currently considering:
deku (classic protagonist isekai)
shigaraki (reborn as the villain/avoiding bad ending isekai)
todoroki (tragic backstory isekai)
kaminari (minor protagonist becomes op isekai)
bakugou (???)
dabi (villain/tragic backstory isekai)
monoma (locf-style/annoying minor antagonist isekai)
hawks (two-faced isekai)
some minor character with a potentially op quirk (mushroom, poltergeist, vantablack, size, etc)
rn im leaning more toward monona, simply because he has so much potential...
and being a minor character with not much known about him means that i can just make up whatever i want about his home life, his parents, his backstory, what he was like before he started attending ua. etc...
i also like that the "reincarnated as a minor antagonist" (really more an annoyance than an actual antagonist tbf) bit reminds me of cale from locf

** Shippuden appearance
Background:
✽ Zora [そら]
✽ Aged 22 in Shippuden
Story:
Meet Zora, the ultimate dumb self-insert ninja with an accidental isekai twist! Summoned into the ninja world at the start of Shippuden, she's on a mission to infiltrate the Akatsuki through Itachi's help to stop the fourth shinobi war (spoiler alert: she fails spectacularly). Zora surprisingly finds sympathy for the Akatsuki's goal of achieving world peace through military force. Afterall, isn't that how many nations found stability after our own world war: through nuclear power? Teaming up with Tobi in an Akatsuki reserve unit, the duo's camaraderie grows over dumplings and missions, and shared lighthearted attitude. Culminating in a bit of smoochy smoochy action. Post-Itachi's demise, Tobi nervously reveals himself as Obito (hubba hubba), a revelation met with Zora's playful "I knew it all along." She seals the deal by developing a groundbreaking communication jutsu, that allows users use their scrolls to write down messages to one another, regardless of distance. Which she hopes will foster understanding between nations and shinobi. Maybe it might help foster understanding between nations, much like technology did for own world. Everyone's happy and horny! But wait- cue the tension! Isn't someone forgetting their mission here, to take down the Akatsuki? As Obito declares war, torn between love and mission, Zora decides to part ways with the Akatsuki secretly. Realizing she can no longer take down the Akatsuki (sorry Itachi). After a steamy last evening, she promises Obito she will always love him, before leaving in the cover of night. During the war arc, Zora joins the leaf village, explaining her circumstances, connection with the Akatsuki through Itachi, and uses her newly developed communication justu as a bargaining chip of trust. It is apparent that this will be an invaluable tool during the war to communicate between troops long distance. She aids Kakashi in confronting Obito during battle, their efforts to convince him of a better path met with fierce resistance. Stuck in Obito's Kamui following Kakshi's battle with his old teamate, Zora heals Kakashi from the severe wounds he sustained. The war unfolds with the allied shinobi forces persevering, and Zora is recognized as an ally of the leaf from her efforts during the war, choosing to remain in Konoha as a resident transplant shinobi. She and Kakashi develop a strong friendship with one another following their battle together. But wait, there's more! She finds out that the little hanky panky with Obito resulted in her pregnancy. What in the Sims 3 drama?? Zora is touched by the support she receives from the shinobi of Konoha during this time, and truly calls Konoha her home. Fast forward to the Boruto era, Zora embraces her new role as a single mom, living a happy life in Konoha with her best buds. She and Sakura have become close friends over the years (in addition to her best bud Kakashi), the two of them sharing a bond as the protectors of the Uchiha lineage.
Abilities:
✽ Zora excels at chakra control, being her main weapon of defense and offense during battle. She wears bandages around her eyes to allow her to concentrate further on the chakra's around her without visual disturbances distracting her during battle.
Ranged
[1] Chakra Whips (ninjutsu, defensive and offensive)
[2] Chakra Disruption (genjutsu, offensive)
[+] Sword of Seven Souls (defensive)
[3] Hawk Summoning (defensive and offensive)
** I am using the ability system from Shinobi Strikers, which involves two main abilities, one weapon, and one special ability.

Hawks x gn!winged!Reader

THIS WILL NOT FOLLOW A SPECIFIC TIMELINE IN THE MANGA
(so sorry i just, love, love, the idea of having wings)
Tumblr media
(this is all my art, it is on IG, im just too embarrassed for people who know me irl to potentially find this xD Even though none of them have tumblr 👀 if you somehow recognize it...props to you?)
_________________________________
tbh, I can’t decide if I want this to have more than 1 part.
Word count: ~1,800
_________________________________
You were on your way home from a long evening at your part time job. Before that you had already taken 2 finals that morning too.
You dragged your feet, exhausted, as you headed towards the crosswalk. Stopping at the edge as the traffic light turned green, you decided to pull out your phone and decided to watch a speed paint from your favorite artist who recently released a new video.
It just so happened it was a Hawks speed paint 👀
The light turned red and you slipped your phone into your pocket as your started to make your way across the street
little did you know this would be the last time you'd cross the street
A wild driver came barreling down the road, no regards for civilians or traffic lights, probably drunk or high or just someone out for blood.
You stood there like a deer caught in headlights as your life flashes before your eyes
You can barely comprehend what's happening as you felt pain engulf your body and suddenly you were unconscious
________________________________________
Keigo tiredly stumbled into his large apartment, kicking off his shoes and shrugging his jacket off by the door
He wants nothing more than to just flop down and pass out. The HPSC has been giving him hell lately about god knows what.
He let out a long sigh and headed towards the bathroom to do his nightly routine
As he finishes up, he drags his feet towards his bed and flops down face first into the comfort of his pillow and sheets
Keigo falls asleep almost instantly after getting into a comfortable position, worn out from a long day of work
What he wasn't expecting was a loud "thud!" coming from the main room. He jolts up from his bed, feathers ready to attack.
*******
Reader's pov(?)
*******
You groaned as you hit the floor. Your head was spinning and it feels like a truck just hit you
oh wait...
You suddenly became more alert, looking around in a panic, expecting to either be on the road and injured or in a hospital of sorts. What you didn't expect was a wooden floor inside of a random apartment.
You felt around your body for any signs of injury, but all you found were a set of wings on your back- wings?? Hold up. Why did you feel wings what kind of sick joke was this?
Your thoughts were racing as your breathing picked up. What was happening? Didn't you just get hit by a vehicle? Why are there wings in your back? Where are you even?
Feeling around in your pockets, you found your phone and whipped it out, trying for anything. You turned it on, the harsh light of it illuminating your face, you tried to send a text to your best friend, but alas, it wouldn't go through. Actually nothing on your phone seemed to work. You checked your location settings, for some reason it said Musutafu, Japan.
Wasn't....Wasn't that the location that most of Boku no Hero Academia took place?? This can't be right, this has to be a dream right? There's no way that you could have actually ended up here unless...
Then it hit you.
You read your fair share of isekai series back when you were alive in your realm. Mostly manhwas of characters getting reborn into another person's body, but, never actually reincarnating as yourself into another world.
That was the only thing you could think of. You must have been reincarnated into the Boku no Hero Academia world. Except as yourself.
In all honesty, this is not how you thought you'd go out. You didn't know what to expect after death, but this definitely wasn't it. After all, this was a fictional setting, wasn't it?
Well, not anymore because now you're living in it! Smh.
That would also probably explain the wings on your back. This was you now. You have a bird quirk.
Now, all you have to do, is figure out where the heck you are.
Just as you are about to stand up, feathers zip towards you, pinning you to the ground
You hear footsteps begin to come towards you. You don't know if you should be scared for your life considering you've already died once or ecstatic because, you knew for a fact, this could be none other than Hawks' apartment.
The winged hero finally emerges and stares down at you, crossing his arms over his chest.
He says in a low, gravely voice from sleep, "Who are you, and how did you get into my home?" You stare back up at him and nervously chuckle.
"I'm not sure you'd believe me if I told you." You nervously sigh out.
"Try me." He demands, sounding a little more irritated now. You sigh in defeat and start to explain your situation.
"Do...do you know what an isekai is?" You said sheepishly while turning your gaze away from his. He kind of gave you a confused head tilt and just a vibe that said “No”. You sigh again and explain it to the best of your ability. Hawks becomes more and more interested and confused as you talk, but nods a long slowly.
“So...you were reborn here, but as yourself? Wait- does that mean you died before!?” He asked, disbelief and fear ran through his eyes. You looked at him in bitter amusement.
“Apparently I did. The last thing I remember of my world was getting hit by some truck or car. The dude clearly did not know how to drive. I had the right of way I was pretty sure at least. I mean, the light was red, usually that means pedestrians can cross the street? And plus he was going wayyy over the speed limit,” you begin to ramble on, the reality of actually dying setting into you. Hawks noticed the panic beginning to set into you and released you from his feathers. He crouched down next to you and grabbed your shoulders gently.
"Hey, hey, hey, look at me, you're ok now, right? You're here, and not dying in the middle of the street still. You're here. In Musutafu," he said trying to calm you back to reality. Well, what was your new reality. Your mind was racing. Trying to put together a coherent thought.
You look up to him, with a panicked look still in your eyes, thoughts started to come out of your mouth as your brain was trying to catch up with the situation. "I'm... I'm in Boku no Hero Academia and, and you’re Keigo... standing... right in front of me..I have wings. I have wings? Jeezus I have fucking wings. And I’m dead in my own world. I don’t know anyone, well, wait, technically, I do know people, just-Oh gods! I’m so sorry, that name slipped out! I- I, I’m really sorry Hawks." Even in your wild state, you noticed Hawks tense up at the sound of being called Keigo by a total stranger, and were able to get out an apology. That was progress? You were slowly coming back to reality.
Hawks froze up a bit at the sound of hearing his real name mentioned. At first he wasn't sure if he believed your tale of the isekai situation, but after this he might have to reconsider it. He opted to shake off that weird feeling for now and focus on different matters.
" I-I don't know what I'm supposed to do now? I have nowhere to go or to stay. I'm in a whole different freaking universe! My phone doesn't even hardly work here. And I have a pair of wings on my back!" You puffed them out angrily. Hawks glanced behind you and his eyes widened a little. You in fact, did have a set of bird wings. Kind of owl like wings. Not near as big as Hawks', but definitely big enough to fly you around.
Before Hawks could process the words coming out of his mouth, he was already asking you, "Would you maybe like to stay with me? I can help with your quirk too." He glanced away awkwardly. You looked towards him in disbelief.
"Dude, are you sure? We literally just met like 10 minutes ago? I mean, I'm all for it, I have nowhere else to turn to, but if you really really don't want me here, I will politely step out of your life." You so badly wanted to accept his offer on the spot, but being the considerate, mostly sensible human you were, you gave him the option to back out. Hawks shook his head.
"No, no, it's alright. You can crash here. Uh- I mean- stay here! Sorry!" You giggled at his comment.
"Well thank you very much!"
"It's all good. I have a spare bedroom you can occupy for the time being. I'll give you some clothes to sleep in that'll hopefully fit. Accidentally bought a couple things in the wrong size without looking. " (a/n: just...just assume its your size, or oversized, whatever's comfy idk) He jumped up and headed towards his room to grab you the clothes. You still sat on the floor. Still amazed at everything that was occurring.
Hawks walked back into the room and tossed you the clothes. "Hey uh, you know, you can get up now, sorry for holding you down earlier.."
You blushed and scrambled to stand up, "Oh no! It's ok! I understand. This would definitely warrant that kind of action. Some random stranger crashes into your apartment at like 1am. I completely understand. Honest."
He let out a small laugh and wearily brushed his fingers through his hair. The adrenaline of everything finally wearing off. He could feel the tiredness setting into his aching muscles again. “Ah, well, I’m going to head to bed now. The room is down the hall at the very end that you can stay in. I’ll take you out training tomorrow evening if that’s alright?”
You gave a nod of understanding and followed him down the hallway. “Goodnight Hawks,” you sang as he walked into his bedroom. He gave a hum of acknowledgment and closed his door.
Making it into what was now your room, you changed out of your clothes so fast, eager to rid yourself of the past hours events.
Not gonna lie, you could not figure out how to properly get your new wings into the shirt, even with the holes and snaps in the back. Your mind was too exhausted to even process this new skill. So you ended up going to bed without the shirt on and just settled for putting the sweatpants on.
You figured it’d be good to just pass out asap. You were sure if you tried to recount the recent events, you’d spiral into a panicked mess.
You shut your eyes tightly, willing yourself to sleep, trying to only think of positive outcomes for the future. But to be honest, you didn’t know enough about anything in this realm to think rationally about anything good.

I prooobably didn’t proofread this as much as I should have

If you were Isekai'd into the world of My Hero Academia, and you got a random quirk, which quirks would you want and which ones would you not want?
I mean MHA wouldn't be my first pick to be thrown into, but it is certainly a lot better then most series. Getting stuck in One Piece or Jojo would be a nightmare. For the sake of this, I am including the Standard Isekai Package. Stuff like understanding the language, proper documentation, and I guess having a new body since I have a Quirk. And, of course, keeping my memories and foreknowledge with the series. I also won't be taking any "cheat skills", like "All For One", "One For All", or other powers like that.
As for what Quirk I would have, I would either want "Sludge Form" or "Flight". They are both cool powers with a lot of applications that I could take advantage of and I believe that I could really expand with them. And they both help my with my main goal of trying to stop the League since they can both counter a lot of want the League has to offer. But while "Sludge Form" has a lot of cool potential with it, and actually works as a roundabout joke to "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime", but I would much rather have "Flight". I know I often go with more subtle power, but if I am going into the thick of things to try and reach my goals, I would rather have the overt power of "Flight". And I do think I would want to intervene and change the story. I don’t think I could really stand on the sidelines in good conscious knowing what I know. As for what I would do with my second life:
-Catch the attention of Keigo and try to warn him about future events While All Might is another choice, since I can easily get his attention with foreknowledge, I think Keigo could help more in the long term given his connections and his skillset. Plus I can easily get Hawks attention by calling him by his real name. If he asks, I'll just say I got all this info from a dead relative with future sight.
-Train the eight months until the UA exam to get in, maybe Hawks could recommend me, and try not to effect the plot up to the FTC Arc. Then I save Ragdoll from getting captured. It prevents All For One from getting her Quirk and she did not deserve that to happen to her.
-Try to get sidekick work under Snatch in order to fight the League at its weakest to capture them, specifically Dabi or Tomura. I don't care what sad backstories they have, if they plan to do half the stuff they are, I will Izuna Drop them off the freeway.
-If it works, I would try to prevent the MLA from gaining more power. If it doesn't, then I will try feed more information to the heroes so they can prepare. Either way, I will try to work as a student sidekick under Hawks after the break to try and give him more warnings.
-If the war happens, try to save Midnight and stop Dabi and Gigantomachia. I could probably get Dabi early, or just shove him off Gigantomachia, but the living disaster is going to be harder to stop. I could use more of the knockout drug or get Nemuri to help, but if it fails, I could try to pick him up and toss him. Barring that, acting a living kinetic missile might slow him down, even if it could kill me.

2021 Summer Anime Week 2 Part 2
Tumblr media
To Your Eternity Episode 13 Lol here we go - the tournament arc, like in most anime. Tho this does make sense in him getting stronger. Something they briefly touched on in this episode that I think is super important is the aspects of memories outliving us. I think it's a crucial part to the future and life, that a lot of people are scared of. The idea that we only live on through the memories of others after we die. ie our legacy. This focus on legacies is always mentioned in obsessive cases where people go out of their way to make their names known but I think this show uses it in a positive light, where the idea of the memories of those we love being what keeps them alive after death. It's definitely an important lesson in this episode. Mha Episode 15 Waiting 2 weeks for an episode has never felt so long. I'm stoked that they're showing so much of what Hawks does behind the scenes and the amount of thought and work he puts in to his job of keeping people safe. I think that the trio's time at Endeavor's agency is going to be super useful. It feels like they've shown him to be an understanding mentor for the 3 of them and that he has an idea on how to help each of them with their individual targets. I'm really looking forwards to seeing what they learn and how they'll move forward.
Tumblr media
Seirei Gensouki Episode 2 I feel like this show has a lot of what I like in mushoku tensei but without the ecchi which is nice. I think the way the show looks like it'll progress will be interesting and the adventure aspect will be a lot of fun. What I don't really understand is why they added the teacher's interest in him, I feel like it's not needed and it just complicated the little love interest aspect there is to the show. I'd be totally cool with him being op and getting stronger and just adventuring maybe him eventually finding the isekai version of the childhood friend or something - keep it simple. No need for other main characters to fawn over him. Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 1 The animation style throws me off so much, It almost looks like it's from the 2000s but super well done. The show itself has a really neat plotline but also the basic - overthrow the people that put me in this situation. I like the idea of the battles and the abilities - kind of gives me HxH vibes. This one is definitely one i'll be keeping on my radar.

Isekai in the Time of Quarantine (Part 1)
[Twice/Jin Bubaigawara -- because certain happenings in the manga are making me feel things and I have to write something to feel better]
Warnings for: Spoilers, cursing, inappropriate amounts of author fawning over fictional character (but, really, someone has to), crack-ish content (but it’s Twice, so...)
“What the fuck.”
You stared at the page open on your phone. Then you went back a page. Then you went back to the page you were previously on. Unfortunately, the same words were there, the same images. Images of a man with a torn mask, his face bloody and sweaty and tear-stained running for a door. For a light. For his friends.
Only to be cut off by a shadowed figure--Hawks, Keigo Takami--bringing down a feather large enough to be a sword and just as deadly.
You couldn’t believe it. Jin Bubaigawara, AKA the villain Twice from the series Boku no Hero Academia just....
“No way.” For a second you debated closing out the page. But you kept reading. Maybe you were hoping for a miracle. That you’d jumped the gun. That Twice would Falcon Punch Hawks and make that beeline for his buds like he was planning.
He didn’t.
“God damn, Hori.” You sniffled when you finished the chapter. God, you were even crying. How were you that attached to a character? Of course, even as you wondered that, you knew it was because Twice, Jin, had been such a well fleshed-out character. A character with dimension.
Oh yeah, he was evil. You knew that without a doubt. But he’d been alone, cast out by the world and forced to resort to crime because nobody that was “good” or “upstanding” trusted him. It almost made you wish he’d taken up Hawks on the whole, turn over a new leaf thing. Not that he would have. The League of Villains were his friends, not his coworkers. He’d said it himself--their happiness was his reason for living. He wouldn’t have been able to function without them.
It would have ripped him apart.
Well, at least Jin had died happy with how his life had turned out. And his clone had gotten to see Toga one last time and protect his buds. It was a bittersweet ending to the chapter, and to Jin’s character, but you were content with how Horikoshi had gone about it.
Your phone’s alarm dinged then, a single note like a wind chime. You sighed, flipping onto your side in bed. The chapter had almost made you forget that you were stuck in your apartment. Because of the sickness going around, a stay-at-home order had been enforced. Everyone was sequestered in their homes--or they were supposed to be anyway--to decrease the numbers of the sick.
Fortunately, your job allowed you to work from home. Unfortunately, your parents and your siblings were pretty spread out. Sure, you’d messaged them and video chatted. Hell, you’d just talked to your parents before reading up on the last chapter of BNHA. But your apartment felt too big, too quiet, too empty.
You missed being in the same room with people. Both the intimate stuff and the simple things. Like talking. Or cooking. At the rate you were going, you’d end up making friends with all your stuff. You were already calling your fridge Frida.
I’ll talk to Mom and Dad tomorrow. You decided, eyes starting to feel heavy. See if they’ll let me stay with them until this all passes.
***
“Are we renting out the base now?” You groaned at the man’s voice and flipped onto your side. Without looking at your alarm clock or phone, there was no way of telling the time. But you were pretty sure it was too early to be awake. The way your eyelids seemed to be glued shut was all the indication you need.
“Man, those Liberation guys sure like making money.”
You groaned a little louder, eyes still shut as you felt for your phone. Seriously, who was talking so much, so early in the morning? Didn’t they realize some people needed to work the next day? In the next few hours even?
“This what you’re looking for?” Someone put your phone in your hand. Which would have been all fine and dandy if anyone actually lived with you. Shrieking, you threw yourself out of bed, getting tangled in your sheets and landing butt first on the ground as a result.
There was a man in your room.
There was a man dressed up as Twice in your room.
There was a freaking Twice cosplayer in your room at four AM.
The floor felt cold. Your butt was killing you. It felt like your leg was gonna pop out of the socket from how it was tangled up in your bedding. You weren’t dreaming. Dammit, you weren’t dreaming, and there was a whackadoodle in your apartment.
This was not the company you were looking for!
He took a step towards you, hands raised, and you screamed again. You flung your phone at him, kicking your tangled leg until you were free so you could run for your life. “Help!” You felt the man try to grab at you, but adrenaline propelled you into the living area. Something fell off your table when you slammed into it.
Still, you didn’t stop running, even when you were out in the hallway. “Someone call the cops! Fire! Fire!”
***
“Look, even if there was someone in her apartment, he’s gone now.”
Your landlady, clad in a blue, fluffy night gown with her hair in a bun, rolled her eyes at the police officer. “So that’s it? You’re not going to look for him. Is it too hard for police nowadays to find some costume-wearing nutjob who’s terrorizing one of my tenants?”
The police had come. Luckily, the nice lady at the end of the hall had heard your screams and called the police after ushering you into her apartment. Your landlady showed up not long after. She looked about ready to raise hell when she’d stomped down the stairs, woken up by the chaos and the police’s sudden arrival.
“Ma’am, he somehow avoided your security cameras, there’s not much else we can do. We’ll increase patrols in the area, but without a description of what the guy actually looks like, without the mask, that’s it.”
The police figured the man, whoever he was, had turned down the opposite end of the hallway while you cried for help and went down the stairs. One of the windows in the third floor hallway, a window facing the alley, was wide open. The security camera there hadn’t caught anything. The wires had been shorted out God only knew when.
You tapped your fingers against your mug. It was pretty with little pastel flowers all over it. The landlady had given it to you at some point, there was a rich, red tea in it, but you couldn’t remember what the flavor was.
“Pah, they expect us to do all the heavy-lifting, don’t they?” The landlady huffed once it was just the two of you. “’Course, you’d expect a little more decency, but with everything going to hell nowadays, I guess it’s no surprise,” she looked at you then, concern clear in her usually steely eyes. “Do you have anyone you can stay with tonight?”
You shook your head, eyes starting to burn. Every time you so much as blinked, you could see that man standing over you.
Your landlady patted the table, a few inches away from your fingers. It was the closest thing you’d had to physical contact in the last week. You almost wished she’d touch you. “The sofa’s a fold-out,” she said, getting to her feet. “We’ll see about your place in the morning.”
***
The only thing missing was your phone. There was no indication of forced entry at either of your windows or at the door (or the vents; you knew the guy wouldn’t have fit in the air vent--but it was an older building, and you’d read enough stories about people skulking through vents not to check).
Your water bottle had fallen off the table. It had broken into pieces on the floor. But you’d finished the water off, so there weren’t any spills.
“Come home,” Your dad had said when you video-called that afternoon. You could hear your mom crying in the background after you’d told them what’d happened. “We’ll get your phone shut down, and I’ll help you move everything.”
You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose over your medical mask. That was two days ago. You’d been staring at what remained of the frozen food section at the local grocery store for a good five minutes. It felt like all your nerves were on end. That guy was out there somewhere. Or he was in the store with you. Unless he was in a hospital bed because he’d jumped out of a third floor window.
He could’ve been anyone. Almost anyone. And he knew where you lived and he had access to your phone--if he’d figured out how to unlock it anyways. And, again, wasn’t in the hospital.
It’s fine, You assured yourself, grabbing some chicken. Dad’s coming to get me in a few days, the boss is fine with me relocating as long as I keep working. It’s fine. I’m fine.
“You dropped this.”
Nope, nope, you weren’t fine. Were. Not. Fine. At all. Because you remembered that low voice from that night. But you still turned around. Because you were in a public place, even if the crowds were thinner than usual. And it wasn’t like he could hurt you as long as--
The man behind you was a little scruffy and had blond hair. He smelled faintly of cigarette smoke, but you could only tell because he was so close to you, breaching your personal space with blue eyes the size of pinpricks that gauged your every move. He was sweating, even though it was still cold out. It made your palms sweat around the basket’s handles.
Unhinged, that was the look in his eyes, in his face.
There was a brief moment where you feared he might pounce and try to bash your skull in. A really brief moment, which passed the second your eyes actually focused in on the scar on his forehead. As though he’d been stabbed with a knife.
And then you opened your mouth. Like a freaking dumbass.
“You went way too hard on that Jin cosplay.”
