So I'm bi and I'm writing a story where two characters are kicked out for being queer(one for being trans and the other for being a panromantic ace) and part of the plot is founding family. But think it may be perceived as profiting of trauma that I don't face

I’m going to preface this by saying that this is my personal opinion so there may be those that disagree with me. I can absolutely see and understand why you would worry about this and why you might have reservations about proceeding. However, I think that there are stories worth telling that can be important to read and if written right, they can benefit others regardless of who has written them and their own experiences. I would urge you to find and speak with people who have been in that situation if they’re willing to speak about it. You’ll be able to better understand the nuances, the trauma, and even the potential healing processes that your characters may go through. Writing about things which you don’t experience is difficult but not only does it make us better writers, it makes for stories that can connect with people when they need it most.

okay okay. i just want to say that as a puerto rican man, ray toro is so important to me. like i have so much appreciation for every member of mcr and i can see a little bit of myself in each of them, but ray is the closest thing ive ever seen to a reflection of myself in an artist. its so special to see someone who has the same features as me run around on stage smiling and bouncing around and being so full of love and joy. im white and i dont wanna claim that im not, but i am also part puerto rican and i show it. i've experienced people making fun of my last name or how long my full name is, strangers touching my hair without asking, people being generally.. weird about my ethnic features, and feeling so uncomfortable speaking spanish that i ended up forgetting almost all of my first language. having someone who has the same curls and body hair and complexion as me in a scene so dominated by shaggy haired boys with blue or green eyes and almost ghostly pale skin feels so special, like im allowed to be here because theres someone who looks like me in one of the most important bands in the scene, like he carved out a space for people who dont fit the eurocentric standards of the aesthetic his band is built around. when i see people ignoring him i know where its coming from whether theyre doing it on purpose or not, because it's happened to me. when i see people fetishizing him i know exactly why they're doing it, because again, it's happened to me. idrk how to end this so i guess ill just say to my fellow latinos, to all black and brown people, you are loved, you are so beautiful, there is space for you in this community and everywhere else you wish to be. stream remember the laughter <3

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again
