#well. today was a nice day of not doing anything but drawing really. theres an au where i went to art school and am a happier person lol#except not really bc im sure my head would ruin that too. anyway. its a shame i have to return to the pain tomorrow. i have so much to grade#plus a paper to write plus data to work with. a protocol to figure out. and an exam to study for and a final project thatll kill me#god. i also have to get ready for lab Monday. christ. and what shall i say to my therapist Tuesday? well we could try to tackle the deep set#looming issue that prevents me from getting better in our tiny 50min session or i could be like listen. just fucking listen. let me give u#the case 4 and against me having adhd so i can stop feeling fucking nuts. just like give me feedback. ya kno?#it would b inattentive bc im not hyper unless im losing my mind and bordering on hyp0mania. but my focus is something i cant control#executive functioning has always been a problem but now im so worn down im in danger of actual consequences. and its not just things i dont#wanna do. im not just anxiously avoiding. i cant start tasks and stick with them. i flip back and forth and get nothing done. i spiral#sometimes for hours. im not doing anything fun im just not doing anything. frozen in anguish. i dont even wanna think abt how much money ive#lost by not filling out reimbursement sheets which arent hard to do. theyre easy i just never do them. why??? i dont fucking kno. but im not#forgetful. im thinking constantly abt these things. i just cant make them happen. theyre stuck buffering. i do have memory issues tho#my short term working memory is like that of a literal child. so i cant follow complex instructions. i constantly need new info. constantly#need sound. spoken words plus music at the same time. but the main reason i need an answer to this is the reading issue. which is that im#dyslexic but also my thoughts r like an interfering frequency. without realizing ill b thinking and not reading. its a problem no matter#what im reading. its severely disruptive. i will physically read out loud to try to hold my attention in place and still get distracted by#my own head. do u kno how frustrating it is to read something aloud 3 times and not know wtf u just read bc u arent thinking abt anything#interesting u would rsther b reading but u can't fucking pay attention long enough. genuinely if its not adhd and i cant get medication to#fix my focus issues i dont kno wtf im gonna do. im so bad at reading and its extremely frustrating. but is it just dyslexia? idk what i#described doesn't fucking seem normal or like a reading problem. sounds like a focus issue. so riddle me that#idk ive got adhd on both sides of my family plus my focus fluctuates with ny hormones plus homones possibly induce hyp0mania. like i mean#ive got other issues which make a diagnosis difficult to parse but like i feel like that's decent evidence for possibly adhd? my friend said#she was always worried she had a brain tumor before she was diagnosed. to me ive always felt like my brain is full of holes. im missing the#parts that would let it operate correctly. the frontal lobe is just fucked. ugh. i wonder how much accommodation i could get from the#disability office if i actually went to them. i wont bc im fucked up and i dont think they could actually do anything for me at this stage#but alas im curious. ugh. y do i do this to myself? i kno y but not enough time for that in 50min. bad attitude mostly. half my brain#just craves death. the other half is just trying to tread water but its hard with someone trying to drown u. so its all fucked#unrelated

My Squirrelling is Out of Control!
My squirrelling is horrible today and cannot convey just how out of control it is. Watch Pixar movie "Up" to see what squirreling is. However, mine isn't adorable like Dug, my spirit animal.
I scored thirty on this distraction quiz. Getting twenty puts you into the super distracted category. Example of when a high score isn't something to brag about. https://www.buzzfeed.com/bibibarud/space-cadet-screenings-here

Hurt to comfort...it's just soap saying that reader can be annoying and a handful cause of her ADHD
Reader is female and a marine biologist
The use of wifey and lovie to refer to reader
This also based of me and my experiences with ADHD
What if simon is married to a reader with ADHD(the inattentive kind) and they also say the most random things too like quotes from movies and TV shows or thing they make up on the spot
So imagine Price, Soap, and Gaz are at Simon's and reader house to hangout and they're all talking about something like the game that's on TV and Simon asked wifey for her opinion and she give him her opinion and before she can finish her thought she's like "what should I make for dinner?" And Simon has to be like "lovie focus to what were you saying" and she's like oh right and finishes her thoughts and when it's all quiet she says, "I like apples and bananas...but I don't actually like bananas, the texture throws me off and smell is too pungent....but I do like banana bread...I should make banana bread...OH I haven't had corn bread in awhile" and price, soap, and gaz are like where she'd get the corn bread from and ghost is like, "I could get the ingredients to make corn bread and banana bread tomorrow" and wifey is like "yes please".
Wifey and ghost start to cuddle and wifey is like "I have to use the bathroom" and he let's go of her and she get distracted and starts doing something else like preparing a turkey and cheese sandwich for her and Simon cause she got hungry and if she's hungry simon is hungry and ghost notices that shes doing something else and he's like "don't you have to use the bathroom" and reader is like "oh yeah that's right" and she goes and soap is like, "I don't know how you do it LT but she would annoy the hell out me to the point I would yell at her" and everyone goes silent ghost is about to rip soap a new one until he sees wifey with tears coming out her eyes and she squeaks out an "oh" and runs up the stairs totally forgetting about the sandwiches and to not annoy anyone else cause she thinks if soap is annoyed at her then that means everyone else is annoyed and it's only a matter of time before ghost yells at her for her adhd tendencies.
She hears ghost yelling at soap saying he knew what he signed up for when he decided to get with his lovie and it's never a dull moment with her ADHD tendencies and it keeps him on his toes and that she can be random at times but he loves his wifey for who she is that she's the sun to his storm, and so he goes up stairs to check on her and he's like "lovie just know I would never yell at you and that I love you and your little ADHD tendencies and you aren't annoying anyone, so come let's go down stairs and say bye to the guys and we can watch a movie."
they go down stairs and before soap could apologize and wifey is like,"that's why you can't keep a girlfriend" gaz, price, and Simon are laughing and soap is like, " yeah I deserve that and I just want to say im sorry and I never should of said those things in the first place" and reader like "apology acknowledged...that doesn't mean I accept, just be nicer to people" and soap is like, "ok I'll be more nicer from now on and not just to you but to other people as well" and the guys leave bidding a fair well.
Simon and reader are cuddled up on the couch watching a shark movie and reader pointing out all the inaccuracies and Simon is having a blast watching his lovie get mad until lovie sees a sandwich in the movie and is like "the two sandwiches I was making!!!!" And Simon is like "don't worry I dealt with that before I checked up on you let me go get them" and he comes back with the 2 and lovie is like "one is for you, cause I figured if I was hungry then your hungry" and eventhough Simon isn't really hungry he still eats the sandwich cause his wifey was thinking about him when she was making her self a sandwich.

hello there!
alright, hc...what do you think about Levi with a partner that has adhd? as in inattentive adhd?
like...very forgetful, can't focus to save their life, careless mistakes that they don't even notice, short attention span, "smart but lazy", impulsive, very emotional and literally just jumping from one topic to another while talking, withdrawing suddenly and this intensely mood swings man, they're the worst (I have adhd, lol).
basically the whole thing...how do you think Levi would handle that?
and thank you, I absolutely love your work🫂❤️

At first, he really couldn’t understand what qualified you as a reliable soldier to humanity.
But after working near you; both fresh out of boot camp, and then later outside the walls, he started to understand.
While your attentjon seemed to come and go on matters both huge and small, in the best and the worst of timing, he saw how close of attention you paid to every little detail. Even if it was forgotten for a short time until it became useful to you.
He grew to admire these attributes, slowly but surly growing accustomed to your mannerisms and the charm that came with your accidental inattentiveness. This eventually sparked a friendship, and after some time, feelings.
When he proposed the idea of his growing affections to you after some time to think, he’d have expected your reaction to be simple; either shocked or joyed.
He wasn’t at all expecting your distracted response.
“Well yeah, I knew that. I just figured I’d wait till you said something. But also it’s cause I forgot to tell you that I knew.”
You were refreshing to him, in some way.
He realized he could tell you the same story twice and watch your face light up in amusement if you had forgotten the tale.
Though he might see it as incompetent from others, he appreciated the way you’d sometimes forget to lace a strap on your uniform, or simply became too distracted to finish the job. This always enabled him to fix it for you with the excuse to double check your safety and be nearest to you.
The times your emotions got the better of you, regardless your reaction, helped remind him that it was okay for him to feel things, too. And in this way, he could talk it out with you and vise versa. After some time of this, it drastically reduced his stress.
Whenever you would disassociate or zone out, it gave him the opportunity to really study and admire you; as well as to have a moment’s break from how long you’d been going over the topic at hand. He’d never admit it if you ever zoned back into reality and caught him, but he adored examining your side profile when you’d cut yourself off from a conversation you’d been having. It was endearing, really.
Your occasional mood swings gave him entertainment at times, as well. Not that he would ever laugh at your expense, but watching you go from bouncing off the walls with excitement to kicking your feet through the grass with a scowl always kept him on his toes. Something he really appreciated, as being complacent in any way bothered him.
Your relationship with Levi constantly kept him curious and observant. He was never bored, never forced into a repetitive loop of events. With you, every day had a new adventure.
Whether that adventure was ensuring your saftey and reminding you to maintain your health on a daily basis, or listening to you ramble on over one of your hyper-fixations in the earliest hours of the morning when you decided sleep could wait. And decided for him that he could do the same.
He would always pretend to be disgruntled by it all, but the way he stared into your eyes with such adoration and excitment rimming his irises behind closed doors told you all you needed to know.
You made him worry about things he’s never considered before, opening his mind to new topics and ways of doing things. And he wouldn’t change that for anything.
His fellow veteran associates would catch him with his hand on the small of your back to protectively walk you from one side of the room towards the other, or tying up your hair for you on the field when you’d forgotten a band for yourself.
He was always prepared, but now that he was with you he took many more precautions. And it made him feel useful to you, no matter how big or small his gestures were.
Levi was always an attentive man, but your ADHD now had him conditioned to be even more so.
He saw it as a challenge some days, always watching and guarding your six. But he loved a good challenge, and always rose to the occasion without any prompt.
ADHD and all, Levi’s devotion to you would grow stronger than any attachment he had to anything else. You made his protective side come out, yet softened him all the same with your adorable antics. Through every struggle, he was there to support and help.
You were his favorite challenge; his favorite investment.

ADHD
I had ADHD for over thirty years before it was diagnosed, and part of the reason why it took so long is because a few specific things absolutely did not resonate with me. At all. And I saw them listed as "symptoms" of ADHD ALL THE TIME.
So, I thought I'd write up a quick list in case it helps someone else out there see past the stereotypes that are too often used as diagnostics.
ADHDers struggle with reading/words/speech etc.
ADHDers have a history of poor grades or attention at school.
ADHDers have a history of drug and/or alcohol abuse.
ADHDers can't sit still.
And how did I differ?
I read constantly. In fact, one might say I HYPERFOCUS on reading. I would rather read information than listen to it. (Reason #1 that I just can't get into podcasts!) The problem has never been reading--it's stopping reading. I'm a professional writer and editor with a background in acting. Words have never been a problem. Do some ADHDers struggle with words? Hell, yeah. Do ALL ADHDers struggle with words? Nope. Not even close. (PS: A lot of ADHDers who struggle with words may actually also have other learning struggles, such as dyslexia. ADHD loooooves a comorbidity!)
This is still SUCH a persistent myth. Even the psychologist who diagnosed me was hesitant because I had stellar grades all through my education. The more research they do, however, the more they realize that other things (autism, giftedness, etc.) can actually mask or mitigate the "typical" symptoms of ADHD that lead to it being diagnosed at school. And if you're an ADHDer who, say, hyperfocuses on learning (because it's cool! and you learn new things all the time!), or who has developed extremely effective coping mechanisms (perfectionism, people-pleasing, etc.), or who deliberately sticks to "safe" subjects to avoid challenge and possible failure, grades are NOT a good measure of ADHD. (Look into what it means to be "twice exceptional"--you may find a list of traits that resonates a lot more!)
ADHDers are out there looking for anything that'll give them a dopamine hit. Boredom is deadly. And the mix of novelty-seeking and low inhibition can often result in risky behavior. However, this can manifest in many, many ways. Drugs, alcohol, sexual partners? None of that was relevant to me. Spending, however? Especially spending money I didn't have on things I didn't need just to feel that itty bitty thrill of OOH SOMETHING NEW! ... yeah, that was a real problem. But not one I usually saw on those symptom lists, even though ADHD+finances can result in HUGE and life-altering problems.
Even bearing in mind that there are different presentations of ADHD--and that inattentive is one of them--ADHD does NOT always present as physical restlessness. Often, mental restlessness--racing thoughts, daydreaming, distractability, inability to "turn off your brain" to get enough sleep--slips through the diagnostic cracks and can be FAR more disruptive to one's health and happiness. And, again, many ADHDers develop coping mechanisms that can end up being very unhealthy or unsustainable in the long term. (I keep my ADHD in my thumb, for example. I can be perfectly still for a long, long time. However, my right thumb fidgets almost constantly. It's weird. Now that I've noticed it, I can't unsee it.)
I guess what I'm saying is ... nothing is set in stone where ADHD is concerned, so don't be afraid to dig deeper, especially if some aspects hit hard. Exploration is a good thing. Questioning is a good thing.

Hi, love your blog! Can I request headcanons for Dante, Vergil and Trish trying to conquer a reader with ADHD (inattentive)?
Oh yes, here ya go. 💜
Dante, Vergil, and Trish x ADHD! Reader headcannons
¤ Dante ¤
Tumblr media
-So, you have trouble paying attention to things? You're disorganized? You procrastinate even when you're trying hard to get things done? Now, who does that sound like? Oh yeah, Dante!
-Dante is chill, very, very chill, and doesn't mind your forgetfulness and tendency to get distracted.
-He'll help you remember things but he's not that good at keeping track of stuff either.
-You guys can lie around for hours, just doing nothing, or maybe having a lighthearted conversation, but not much else. It's fine though, he'll eventually pull himself together and get off the couch to do stuff.
-He'll be sure to help you research medications and take you to doctors if you necessary.
-Loves you no matter what, even if you spend 15 minutes trying to find the TV remote when you were sitting on it the entire time.
□ Vergil □
Tumblr media
-Vergil is a very organized and practical dude and is more than happy to help you get yourself sorted.
-Gets frustrated whenever you misplace items or forget the direction of the conversation, but controls himself, because he understands your behavior isn't your fault.
-He started making detailed schedules for you and tapes them up everywhere, so you always have a sense of what you have to do and when.
-Motivates you every morning, reminding you (indirectly, of course) that he cares about you and that he'll always be around to protect you.
-Will help explain concepts/conversations to you if you couldn't grasp them the first time.
-He might get a little irritated by your distracted nature, but he still loves you and wants to help you deal with your ADHD.
▪︎ Trish ▪︎
Tumblr media
-She's patient and tolerating of you and your drifty brain, taking care of you in her own sweet, protective way.
-She reminds you of practically everything when you forget: to take your medicine, that you're supposed to go to work in an hour, that you left your wallet on the kitchen counter again, etc.
-Texts you whenever she's not at home or around you, sending cute little messages, reminders, and sometimes selfies of her doing stuff.
-Though she's not exactly the world's neatest woman, she knows how to keep things tidy and will certainly help you clean your house.
-She also knows to snap her fingers or clap really loudly when she wants your attention.
-Is very careful to avoid putting you in situations where you might face social anxiety, though on the rare occasions that you get overwhelmed, she's there for you.

Great question, @ihavenoidea427!
I've considered this myself for the same reason, but ultimately decided that he probably doesn't have ADHD. I'm no psychologist, but based on what I understand, Akechi seems to show way more autistic traits.
It's hard to say since there's a pretty big overlap between ADHD and autism, and he's extremely autistic-coded, butttt I feel like the fact that he was able to stand motionless for 8 hours waiting for Saiki to exit his house kinda rules out ADHD lol.
Sure, hyperfocus exists but that's for when you're doing something enriching, and I'm pretty sure time blindness wouldn't account for that either. I guess he could theoretically be day-dreaming or something (more inattentive type), but he sure doesn't seem like he's easily distracted or has trouble focusing in general. 🤔
So yeah, I think he's just autistic in canon but I could be wrong tbh!

Why do more people have ADHD now?
(It's not just TikTok's fault)
ADHD prevalence is estimated at 5-7%. That seems low, but consider the global population.
A huge aspect of ADHD is dopamine deficiency. Nowadays we have these convenient little mobile phone devices that constantly supply dopamine on demand. I'd argue that probably leads to ADHDers being online more creating an over-representation.
There's a lot of evidence that ADHD occurs genetically. As the overall population explodes, so will the amount of ADHDers.
We're living in a world with increasing stimulation and distraction, attention being demanded by more and more things. There are way more chances for executive dysfunction to occur. Exercise is specifically helpful for burning off energy, and manual labour is becoming less common, with many careers forcing someone to sit still all day.
Women in particular have traditionally been socially engineered from birth to be more subdued. As this happens less and less, ADHD is way more obvious. There's also more understanding of inattentive type which women and afab tend to fall into.
More scientific study.
We have the language for ADHD now. It is astonishing that people don't realise how recent this actually is. I'm talking outside of the US, most countries didn't start seriously discussing it until the 90s.
More representation of ADHD, good or bad, has created more overall awareness. Now parents are more likely to take a kid to the doctor rather than writing it off as "misbehaviour". The Internet has also provided access to self education for those who weren't so lucky. In the UK especially we're seeing long lines of celebrities who are getting diagnosed age 40+.
Don't get me wrong, I do think there are some people who are following a 'trend' and it is dangerous to completely rely on self diagnosis (if you have an option to see a doctor). There's a tricky line between identity and disability, though my personal belief is that the concepts can coexist.
That being said, we need to not create an ADHD culture war. There are reasonable explanations as to why we're seeing a greater amount of ADHDers (especially in online spaces).

I could write a whole post explaining how Edward and James are ADHD (similar to my autistic Gordon post) but ironically enough I can never build up enough attention to write up the argument.
So just, like, trust me on this. James displays the impulsive/hyperactive type and Edward displays the inattentive/distractible type.
Obviously both are so much more than an ADHD subtype and therefore they are not poster children (especially James — I see James as also NPD rep and that muddies the ADHD presentation. And Edward's masking skills are heavy-duty.)
But they are both really wonderful examples and they bring me such comfort. They're so true to real life in so many little ways. Long before I understood them through this lens they made me feel so, so, so seen.
