listen if you go into g3 thinking it will be just like more episodes of g1 youre gonna be very disappointed. like yeah if I had to choose between them Id choose g1 as it cant be beat, but g3 has its own unique charm and is really good if you accept that the g3 cast isnt gonna be a carbon copy of the g1 cast. they arent meant to be! theyre new takes on their character, by definition, a new generation. yes I still have criticisms for it but also it did a lot of stuff better!

first off, a trans character IN a queer relationship. Ive always related to frankie but gen 3 especially does them so well and no matter what you say them and cleo's relationship is adorable. also I see a lot of you treat them like just a girl who uses they/them pronouns (or ignore that theyre non-binary at all) just because they dress femininely, and I am judging you. their relationship is trixic, not sapphic, and frankie is unlabeled and cleo is bi so theyre not lesbians either. frankie is not your theythem girl or theyfab or whatever. grow up. deuce is also theorized to be trans or intersex and is also canonically aromantic and I fucking love that as well. "b-but my nostalgia abt cleo and deuce" Im still nostalgic about them too and it was nice seeing the "mean girl" and her boyfriend have a healthy relationship but again this is a different take on their character, and I can happily say I could see their g1 versions identify this way as well if mattel wasnt such a coward back then.

next, lagoona. Ill be honest I was one of the biggest haters of g3 lagoona at first, pink skin, vsco girl ass fashion, "this aint my lagoona, she's way less edgier than the others AND g1" Id say, but she really grew on me, and as someone who frequently rewatches g1 as well, I notice she is a LOT more well developed than her g1 counterpart. g3 is fierce and is afraid of no longer being seen as such due to also having "cutesy" interests, and loves graphic novels and sometimes sees them as more true than real life. she also has anxiety and copes with them in an unappealing fashion (chewing). she makes up for her lack of edgy looks with her edgy personality. meanwhile g1 is just.... aussie and loves her boyfriend. g3 is still very sporty and cares for her friends (and crush) a lot, but now has personality past that, she can even find fault in her crush while still loving him, while g1 lagoona just saw gill as the perfect incarnate. g3 just overall, has more fleshed out monsters than g1.

more about deuce, I see a lot of people headcanon him as trans and I love that, but I personally believe he may be intersex. "but both of his parents and his sisters are female, there is no y chromosome in their heritage so how could he develop a y chromosome or testosterone" you may ask, but worry not for I have a biology special interest and am more than willing to explain! deuce's parents are a harpy (bird monster) and a gorgon(snake monster), and both birds and snakes are known to have NOT X and Y chromosomes to determine sex, but Z and W, and it works the other way around! meaning the offspring with zw chromosomes will be female while the offspring with zz chromosomes will be male! and due to deuce being out of the sex norms of both harpies and gorgons (having no males), he is considered intersex! again, I have nothing about his trans headcanons, but him being intersex makes more sense to me. and I LOVE it if thats the intention.

either way, even if I have my criticisms, I love g3, yes its not comparable to g1 but theyre different series!

TRAs weird doble standars

thinking about that time i found a women's art newsletter and i was to suscribe to it but it was "to women and non binary people", and even so, they didn't have (to the public's knowledge) a way to filtrate women to men pretending to be women/nonbinary so their art could be published somewhere. TRAs love to criticize women's atempt to female only spaces that include NB people and trans men because "we aren't seeing them as what they indentify as" but have no problem inserting themselves into women's spaces (even thought they included trans women)

when radfeminism was getting popular in latinoamerica (im chilean) TRAs (me at the time included) criticized radfems for including trans men/female nonbinary people in feminism under the sex based oppresion premise because "theyre TM/NB, not women, feminism is for women you're misindentifying them" but when i went to women's protests in my city, it was full of trans men and nonbinary people (using their flags and pins, so its not an assumption) in it. so, make it make sense, are you part of feminism or not? or you're excluding yourself only when radfems point out the obvious sex based oppresion????

is there a community of ppl that can talk abt how their experience of thinking they wanted to transition/how they transitioned was eventually something they regretted)felt was harmful? like...for the most part i think convos abt gender/gender liberation shld be across lines of identity, and detrans ppl and trans ppl and genderqueer ppl and pocs gender identity etc shld feel unity and whatever. bit i feel like theres also a detrans to terf pipeline and ive seen it like several times w prev online friends/acquaintances. and it makes me so ughhh not happy idk . sorry im not saying u have the answers or anything, just mostly expressing. how i feel lol

nods. yeah. im just gonna ramble for a minute so i apologize if this post is a hot mess. i think part of the reason it's hard to find a non-terfy community of detrans ppl is bc like. how do you even define detransition..? i think a large number of people whose experiences that one might label as detransition would still identify as trans or nonbinary or both in some way. gender is confusing and weird and made up and wonky and every gender nonconforming person has to come to their own conclusions about how they identify and of course those identities can change over time and might be ever-changing throughout a lifetime. there are parts of my experience, for instance, could be labeled as detransition. i've gone off T for months at a time. i used to identify as a binary trans man, and now i dont. i dont have regrets about my medical transition, but i think that having transition regrets is different than being detrans too.

i think a lot about the detrans to terf pipeline that you're talking about. because yeah, i do think there are certainly people who do the black and white version of that. they identify as a binary trans person, medically transition, and then realize it's not right for them, go back to identifying as their AGAB. and then they project their transition regret onto like. every trans person and decide no one should have autonomy over their body because they made a medical decision they regret. and they become terfs. like im SURE that happens.

but i think probably more common is. a person comes out as trans. begins their medical transition. and it's fucking hard. and they don't have the support network they need. and they feel alone. perhaps they lose family or friends because theyre trans. and they experience transition regret. maybe because hrt genuinely wasn't right for them, or maybe because they lose the support of their family, friends, or community because of their transition. they decide to detransition. and somewhere along the way they find a community that will support their detransition and also tells them that they were in some ways coerced into making the decision to transition in the first place. and that's how they become terfs.

to be clear, im not assigning either of these experiences to anyone specifically, and im not even saying its super common, but anecdotally it is a story that is not unknown to me. and i do know that thee most common reasons people detransition is bc of various types of pressure from their family/friends/community, and one of the least common reasons is that they found that gender transition wasnt right for them (this isnt like. an essay lmao. but if u need a source for this, here. page 115).

all this to say. i think there absolutely should be more space in trans community to discuss transition regret and detransition without judgement. like whether or not detransitioners still identify as trans or plan to retransition in the future, they still have experiences with gender that definitely at the very least qualify them as gender-diverse. you're not detransitioning and then going back to your agab and rejoining cis binary society flawlessly and never questioning your gender again. like it just doesnt really work like that. i think detransitioners who no longer identify as trans are still our siblings and should be supported. of course. of COURSE. (obviously detrans ppl who become terfs/anti-trans are excluded from that. it's not trans ppls job to coddle terfs). but i also think like! that should be an intracommunity discussion. not a debate but a supportive space. and detrans experiences should not be used to argue against trans liberation. obviously. and i have a lot to say about the way detrans experiences, esp of detrans women, are presented as horror stories laced with transphobia and essentialism (read: racism). but thats. another post for another day.

basically yeah. what you said. convos about gender/liberation should be across lines of identity. bc it's really not an issue really of identity but of how we are gendered by the people around us. bigger work than just trans liberation. you dont get trans liberation without dismantling patriarchy without dismantling white supremacy without dismantling um. capitalism. and so unity. intersectionality. etc. yeah. idk. rough day.

And then Noah just looks at her super weird and is like ; “Izzy, Harold actually made a twitter post last month saying they prefer they/them pronouns and are more comfortable with androgynous language, at least when we’re not filming, or when talking to the producers” (Harold is non binary and definitely writes think pieces on gender and why we need to break free from these concepts I DARE YOU TO FIGHT ME ON THIS IM PREPARED)

as far as i can see , most people who coin the terms like "trans(x) - wants to be (x)" are trolls . the majority of the actual community defines things as "trans(x) - feels like they should or desires to be (x)" .

also , transgender people can be transgender just because they want to be . im transfem because i want to be a girl . saying "nobody whos transgender wants to be transgender ! we're all forced into it and its a constant struggle and we hate every second of it but we have to be because of dysphoria !!!" is a transmed argument . / nmay /

transids are mostly based on the same thing that being transgender is - how people perceive you doesnt line up with how you want to be perceived . this can be due to dysphoria , desire to be something different , whatever . none of it is "white people who want to be poc so they can say slurs" (the only person ive ever seen say that white people can say the n word was one troll) , none of it is "transneuro people just want trendy disorders bc they dont understand them" (as someone who isnt transneuro at all , transneuro understand the disorders i have way more than anti-transid people do) .

nobody whos transjob is saying "i am actually this job" , theyre just saying "i identify with having / want to have this job but i dont legally have it" . they arent impersonating anyone , no more than someone whos a factive is impersonating a real person or someone whos therian is impersonating an animal .

Like you say though, transID people aren't acting like they're literally the thing they're transitioning to. Because of this, a lot of anti-transID arguments don't really hold up. There's not much of a threat of people with transIDs invading spaces for people who have those conditions and spreading misinformation.

But this isn't the way that transgender people use the term. This is where this disconnect exists.

Compare a definition of transgender to one of transautism.

Transgender or Transexuality is an umbrella term for anyone whose internal experience of gender does not match the sex they were assigned at birth (normally based on first and secondary sex charateristics). Transgender people may experience discomfort or distress due to their gender not aligning with their sex, and therefore wish to transition to being the gender they identify with.

It refers to someone who want to acquire autism/a form of autism. it can also be used to describe someone who feels they should acquire autism. Transautistic people are not necessarily allistics they can be autistic individuals who want another form of autism.

Do you see the difference?

Do you see how the words are being used in different ways?

The transgender position is "I am X because I experience being X internally." The transautistic position is "I am transX because I want/desire to be X."

Yes, many transgender people also want to be the gender they identify with. Being transgender isn't some horrible experience. But wanting/desiring to be that gender isn't treated as the prerequisite to being trans. Rather, the internal identity is.

Is this harmful? I don't really know.

But I do think it's worth noting that the definitions are being muddied by this type of use.

And this has been harmful to other communities in the past.

People who started using "kinning" to mean "really liking a character" have done a lot of damage to the Otherkin community, letting anti-kin groups push a narrative that Otherkin don't really identify as what they say they do at all, spreading misinformation to delegitimize the community.

Then again, people who were saying that transgender people just "want to be" a different gender are going to be saying that regardless, and I don't think this is likely to increase that.

'GB's ending is comphet (?????) because 'we only need eachother' and theyre breaking away from their queer community' ED HAS BEEN WANTING TO LEAVE PIRACY SINCE LAST SEASON!!! also, its progress that Stede was able to resist basic flattery. And David made it clear that they still have work to do. This one truly broke my brain.

I stopped using Twitter a few years ago, but I’ve seen screen shots of some of the garbage going on over there (and seen some of it on here on a lesser scale) and I’m over it. Like I loved Izzy a lot he’s one of my favorite characters and cried during his death all 3 times I’ve watched the episode, but people have 100% crossed lines.

People acting like a straight person wrote the show is so damn infuriating. I’m pretty sure this is the first time ever that there’s been multiple non binary people or color in the writing room! People are being so disrespectful to these writers, going as far as sending death threats to Jenkins, it’s well more than an annoyance at this point! I feel awful for the whole OFMD crew and I hope they’re avoiding looking at most of the toxicity. I wish I could talk to them directly and tell them how much I appreciate their work and how much the show means to me. I have 2nd hand embarrassment too I hope they know it’s not every fan behaving like this. I’m going to be so upset if we don’t get a season 3 because of this.

And 100% agreed on people lacking media literacy and not getting the show. Acting like no other characters are disabled or queer. Acting like Izzy was the main character. so i see myself as a demigirl since i do identify with being a woman more or less but i also don't see myself as a woman/man/trans etc. like i see myself as simply human most of the time and i was just thinking about that and i've never heard of a identity that fits in with just seeing yourself as a human so i searched it up and 90% of what came up was agender but i'm just a little confused, does it mean what i just said about seeing yourself as a human or what does it mean? also does agender fit into demigirl?

i'm sorry for the long ask, i'm just confused.. and like i said this isn't me asking you to put a label on me, i know one doesn't have to have a label but it's just easier for me to have one so i know who i am (i'm neurodivirgent and my brain works best if i have labels on everything)

i guess i can see why agender is mostly what you could find because it is basically just having no gender (although that doesn't really answer your question). if you want you can interpret it as just identifying/seeing yourself as a human because i also dont know of any identities that specifically talk about that.

anyway, i looked up your "does agender fit into demigirl" question to find input from other people. there are things, including whoever added stuff to the gender wiki, that do say that some demigirls feel like theyre partially outside the binary, the wiki listing "non-binary umbrella like agender, genderqueer, or xenogenders" as gender identities that you can use as well as identifying as a demigirl. in summary, i would say that yeah, i think that agender can fit into demigirl as well as both being used as labels simultaneously.

this is MAX hes 13 and i think they r my favorite. he is non binary and uses he/they and alex is his bff. theyre kinda like edd from eddsworld personality wise. like theyre the main character and kind but also sarcastic and likes to pull pranks. i love him so dearly. he is bisexual

she is half filipino and half mexican. her father is absent and her mom is lowkey neglectful as fuck. shes also missing an eye and wears an eye badnage rhing. she dealth with lots of bullying when she was younger and actually is very dangerous she shiuld be locked up.

one on the right is sam and shes a trans lesbian. she is really kind and nice and uust goes along with everyone, but she has like a dark side n lets her walls down around her gf alex and her friends. she struggles with mental health issues and is also autistic and has a hard time showing her emotiosn and speaking. she can be serious sometimes and its kinda scary how she switches from being dark and brooding to all nice and talkative. basically she masks super hard but shes a rlly good person i love her.

basically one is like they all be normal and max starts a company and gets all successful and alex is like super tech savvy and mechanical so shes like a worker for him and he pays her and theyre like a business duo. and theo is like a successful scientist too and i think sam is something idk but i have a deisgn for her and shes all goth snd pretty but idk what she does in tje fuyute.

the other ending (bad endging warning!!) is alex (the really unstable and trigger happy one) loses it and shoots up their school. she goes to prison for a long time and max and her friends are really bretrayed. and then they meet in the future when she gets release and their friendship is never the same and. its justnlike really angsty and sad and it makes me sad and i feel like its mean to put them througj that so i consider the ending where they grow up happy as the canon one. i still like the idea of alex going crazy so ill probably make some stuff for that

And yeah I agree pretty much everyone except Xander, yoly (although she’s not 100% innocent,) and Sam suck to varying degrees, I only singled Vanessa out because the ask was about gender identities and Vanessa identifies as pansexual instead of lesbian. I felt bad for the other lesbians because they were to my knowledge, lesbians attracted to women, but technically dating self admitted non-women. Toxicity/drama wise, I pretty much agree with the general consensus on Mildred/Lexi/Rae/Aussie/tiff/Vanessa so I’m not going to add anything abt them.

My only unpopular opinion is about mal. Mal doesn’t necessarily suck per say, I think she’s a decent person and she’s super fine. but like Vanessa, her sudden reversal into wanting to propose seems motivated by wanting to “win,” instead of a genuine desire to commit to yoly. The fact that she suddenly started picking up after herself around the house shows she was capable of doing it all along but was content to let yoly pick up after her. The way she is motivated by wanting to win is a lot less obvious and less malicious than Vanessa, because she does care about yoly to some degree and she might not even consciously realize her motives. But I don’t think her intentions are genuine, I think she’s a real smooth talker towards both Lexi, yoly, and the camera/audience. I empathize with her a lot because I’m a poc lesbian (femme Indonesian though, not black butch,) and if a white woman showed up with a real chance of taking my girlfriend away I’d be feeling all types of old insecurities and might feel the overwhelming urge to win. I might be reading into it, but I just think if everyone wants to call Vanessa out for her sudden change of heart, it might be good to acknowledge that Mal is kind of doing something similar, but a lot less clumsily. I know she said she eventually wanted to get married after her finances were taken care of, but after the finance conversation w/yoly, I’m a bit suspicious about whether she was actually taking concrete steps to make that reality happen, or if she was using that as a delaying excuse. I would hate for her and her bestie to spin the narrative that yoly was some sort of gold digger who abandoned Mal to fall in love with Xander’s financial statements, because it kind of looked like they were implying that in the last episode. I had a soft spot for Mal, but I think I if the threat of xander were to go away, Mal would go back to her old, not-picking-up, marriage and kids delaying self.

this was my post about it. no one besides me rly shared their thoughts on that tho, to me i just thought it was concerning and indicative of a larger trend & commonly held idea nowadays that gnc = u must be non-binary or trans somehow. it all goes back to "cis = you identify as the gender you were born as" and gender simply being the societally & culturally ascribed roles based on ur sex... based on that logic ofc butch lesbians would not fit in and ofc many gnc people dont "feel" like theyre women (if female) or men (if male) but rather simply exist in the body that theyre in and dont conform to the gender roles pushed onto them.

i actually rly thought tiff was terrible at first but surprisingly, out of the bunch shes not the worst. definitely aussie (big disappointment. was into her at first), vanessa (also disappointment. shes rly beautiful too), mildred, and lexie are the ones i really didnt like. i loved mal, xander, & rae the most. im at a stage where im not 100% sure about yoly i mean she seems really lovely but the fact that mal expressed these insecurities holding her back from marriage & yoly basically confirmed every single one of them was like. really sad to see. and seeing mal cry so much was heartbreaking too ? like poor baby mal i want to just hug her and find a way to cheer her up.

I fail to see the issue with “masc nouns” (mealexical language). Such nouns refer to language that is generally used to describe individuals who experience some sort of gender masculinity or consider themselves a male/man, hence the use of the use of the word “masculine” (of or referring to men/males). Everyone knows that men do not have to be masculine, but by the same token, surely you realize that masculine people don’t have to be men and can choose referential language that describes them as anyone else. So, yeah, it does make sense if a person who isn’t “male”, a word that is used to describe a binary gender identity, bodily sex and the gender role of “man” often ambiguously, wouldn’t want to be called male if they weren’t one. Still, they may have other connections to manhood, maleness or masculinity they deem significant enough to use mealexical language, and they deserve to have that respected. Male isn’t a dirty word, but it’s a loaded word for many trans people. Also, some people who are masculine aren’t males. Surely, you, a GNC trans man, can at least appreciate that. After all, you describe yourself as effeminate and can obviously distinguish presentation from identity. What it seems that you are misunderstanding is that they can be intertwined in complex ways that you yourself may not understand, but the individual themself does, which can include a non-male identity, but a legitimate desire to be referred to using mealexical language. I find it strange you can separate presentation from identity, but not pronouns and other similar functions of grammar. Can you maybe explain why you feel that way? How is one okay with you but not the other and why?

shiver's room is nice and tidy, but still has a lot of decoration and personality to it. theyve got their aesthetic down and everything!! plus id imagine theyd like scented candles, so their room always has a soft scent to it. nothing overpowering ofc, just a subtle smell that makes the room feel nice. also, they own like a billion games and keep em all in a cabinet

shiver can whistle REALLY loudly due to losing one of their fangs (their top left fang since we already cant really see it if it's there). they use this power on their float during splatfest when the whistle part of their solo comes up

ananta: amab agender and uses any pronouns. could not care less about gender or presenting in any particular way, and has no opinions as to how other people perceive them. theyve been called a man and theyve been called a woman, neither of these words have any meaning to them

Bio: Furnace is a former Eggman Badnik who’s original use was to burn down forests, but defected in order to protect nature. They’re selectively mute, only talking to those they trust or like, but otherwise, they speak through beeping & whirring. They have to wear thick heatproof gloves & shoes to avoid accidentally melting or burning something. This also unfortunately applies to their love of gardening, where they have to be very careful not to damage flowers & crops. The fan on Fern's chest serves to act as a cooling system, as they're constantly hot enough to burn skin.

The water lily mask they wear is made of a special glass that won't melt, having some indents on the back to connect to Fern's face.

They wear it as a comfort, being self conscious about being unable to touch almost anything flammable without well, ruining it.

Fern chose a water lilly specifically, because they can't touch them since they re on water. It's one piece of nature they'll never be able to burn, & they're thankful for that.
