Regarding the Alastair post! Absolutely not trying to be a bitch!!! But I get the frustration with people writing smut about a aroace character but at the same time it’s just a character that’s fictional??? I understand that representation of aroace people is important but a fictional character who is also a serial killer shouldn’t be the representation you want.

Asexuality is a spectrum much like everything in the LGBTQ+ community. Other people have a thing called a “Type”. This is their dream person to sleep with or a trait that really gets someone aroused. Asexuals don’t have this type. They can still have sex and some even enjoy it, but there’s the absence of SEXUAL ATTRACTION. Being ace doesn’t mean you just can’t have sex, it means you don’t feel the feelings the same as everyone else. Some asexuals even enjoy kinks because there’s not a person aspect of it, it’s just pleasure/stimulation. Some asexuals talk about sex ALLLLLL the time but don’t actually feel the attraction. It just depends on who you talk to! But the main baseline is there is no trait or type that gets us turned on. People do not turn us on.

Y’all can write Alastor having sex without bullshitting around the topic of him being asexual. Now clearly his character was written to not want sexual relations/being sex repulsed. That’s still under the umbrella of asexuality. I just don’t want people to erase his label/change the meaning of his sexuality and romantic orientation.

Sure it’s just fiction but at the end of the day it’s still kinda rude to rewrite characters like that. Straight people get mad when we make everything gay, we get mad when they make everything straight. It’s a constant battle but I think we have a right to speak up about being upset with it

ok so!!! i use firealpaca which is just my usual drawing program. so i'll keep using it as a reference for my steps but of course im sure whatever similar program u use should have similar features

FINDING YOUR SCREENSHOTS

the key to decent td edits is to flat out trace screenshots whenever possible. stock pics will do, but of course itll be a lot more fun and less obvious if u use a screenshot from the show and put it into your new context

in terms of making your ocs, you will likely have to do what someone once called "frankensteining" your pics. this is where you use pics of other characters for their specific features and put them together since your oc doesnt have official screenshots to trace. this also absolutely comes in handy w canon characters! maybe you have a pose but u need them to be sitting. so try to stitch together two different pics to get what u need

it will look very scary but just trust the process. here is a random example i made using a dawn screenshot (where i removed the background), gwens eyes and eyebrows, and kittys hair

the sketching part is semi-optional. if you think you can freehand the lineart then go ahead but i assume your oc wont be a complete copy of something found in canon and therefore you will have to draw the newer/different features (such as the hair or the outfit) at least a little bit. and sometimes when i frankenstein the pics, my brain gets all overwhelmed so sketching makes me feel better jfbdjdnd

(in terms of my own oc, i screwed myself over bc his body type is so unique i gotta freehand it like all the time 😭

you can see i traced his head from his render (ALWAYS DO THIS BTW!!! TRACE CONSTANTLY), but then the body was freehanded using a canon pic as reference because tracing the pic wouldve been inaccurate)

THE LINEART

yes the iconic td thick, sharp, flat lineart. i achieve this by using a normal pen tool, turning off the pen pressure, and then turning up my pen stability to 40-60 (very high). you could use a curve tool if that works for you! but i would suggest against that for ALL of it bc the tool just wont respond well to rly drastic curves and such

the pen size varies on the pic. if the characters are close-up, itll likely be a bigger one. and then the characters' little details and facial features are usually a slightly but definitely noticeable smaller size. for the most part, ive had the bigger pen size at 13 while the details are around 9. or big size 10 and smaller size 7.

heres my technique:

as u can see, all of my lines go a bit too far. this is so that when im done drawing them, i can go back in and slowly erase where they meet and get them all sharp and pointy. this is just how i personally do it lmao. when it comes to facial features and other stuff that doesnt connect to anything, just get a close look at your reference to see how thick or how thin the edges get and do ur best to erase the edges to the point where they should be

THE COLORING

not much to it! the bucket tool is the best way to go. again just get a good look at your references just in case any parts have the lineart also colored in

THE BACKGROUND

you can find some generic td background pics on google or u could get them from the show and try to erase any character in the way lmao. if ur recreating something like, say, a dunc/ney scene w a different ship, then its very tedious but youll have to do your best to erase the canon characters and piece the background back together.

i like using the smudge tool a lot for this!!! just kinda pulling whats already there towards the characters. to save time, put your drawing visible on a top layer as you do this so that you dont have to edit the ENTIRE background, just what you need

THE RENDERING

ok so heres a big one imo. after youre done, youre gonna have to fuck up the quality at least a little. well not that u HAVE to but like..... to match the standard quality of a td screenshot? ive never seen a td screenshot in perfect hd quality outside of stock art. so u could blur ur drawing just a little bit. maybe add in the teeniest bit of chromatic aberration (just set it to 1 or -1). not ALL of them together but u do whatever u gotta do

my personal favorite is blurring just a little and then saving it as a jpeg (around 65-80%) so that its pretty crunchy and looks all the more real

obviously not a NECESSARY step but just something to point out. especially if ur background isnt the best quality so the characters have to match it

this one from yesterday i didnt even redraw topher bc i was lazy and he looks fine enough. i just put danny onto the pic to cover the other character. so i blurred danny a little bit and then saved it in a pretty low quality so that they match one another. look at those pixels. that crunch.

SO THE TLDR IS just trace and copy your references as close as possible. if you cant find a reference for your character, try finding another character w something close enough

I feel like your approach to criticizing a certain fandom was the wrong way of doing it. Don't get me wrong, you are a hundred percent right about the lack of representation for certain characters. But you had to have known that you would've gotten backlash for insinuating that the only reason that content is being made is because people are... misogynistic? The characters are well-written; that's why they get attention. The women are also well-written, you're right! But instead of getting mad at the people who enjoy specific characters, you could contribute to what you want to see in the fandom. Make fanfiction, make art, talk about your favorite ships, talk about your favorite characters, talk about the head-canons you have for them, connect with other fans of those characters, make AUs with them, make the fandom you want to see! But I don't know what you were expecting when you come out and say in the tags "you must be misogynists for liking these characters and you must be awful people for playing around with AUs" even though every fandom on this website does that. That was hostile and was only going to get a hostile response in return especially when you specifically put it in the tags for fans of those characters to see. Because it reads as you insinuating that fans of these characters existing is why you don't get any representation of your favorite characters. Or, alternatively, that everyone only likes certain characters because they're misogynists who hate women characters. People make content of them because they like them and because they want to make content of them.

Want more content of the things you want to see? Pay or support the artists and writers who make that content or start making it yourself. Its not helpful to complain that some characters get more attention than others but then make no attempt to contribute to it in any meaningful way. You cannot just get mad at people for liking characters and expect the fandom to magically decide its going to give you the content you want.

This is a long-winded way of saying you are correct in that the fandom seems to hyper-focus on some characters over others. But the way you approached that discussion was combative, hostile, and unhelpful, and you're not going to motivate a community into making content by being passive-aggressive to the people making the content they want to make. Be the change you want to see in the fandom, or support the artists and writers who make the content you want to see.

Its like... You can't complain your garden isn't growing if you're not watering it and not adding seeds, and instead are blaming everyone else for having plants in their gardens that you don't like.

Ive tried to word this before and failed. Its not that theres NOT vicious antimale sentiment in queer circles, but whenever i see "why is there more positivity for fem trans men? Must be bc ppl hate masc trans men" it just feels. Im sure that some amount of fem positivity is malicious. But were ignoring an obvious contributor which is that fem trans men aren't always treated well by other trans men. So it just feels like thats being erased AND people are villainizing fem trans men who post positivity. Is one of the reasons for fem positivity antimasculinism? Sure. But to fixate on that and to ignore all the other reasons feels very...willfully ignorant to me. Does that make sense? Most fem positivity is in good faith. Its needed. If its not for you then its not for you. But i could make the same argument that masc positivity must all be a truscum psyop. And its not. Masc trans men arent treated well by the larger queer community. They deserve and need positivity too. But we dont need to villainize fem positivity.

I'm gonna be honest anon, I really haven't seen a lot of "there's too much positivity for [x]!" in general- but I definitely haven't seen it for specifically masc or fem transmascs, from masc or fem transmascs. This feels like beef someone made up to get people mad at each other.

Why do you think killugon has so much appeal compared to other queer ships? I do like some other ships (im more into canon/close to canon though so there's only a few that I genuinely enjoy) but I feel like they're lacking... something, I dont know. Particularly, I like that Togashi wrote killugon angst as something vital to the plot that cant be erased without affecting the story

yknow anon I'm trying really hard to think of why killugon makes my brain rot more compared to other queer ships I really enjoyed over the past few years. I think it's partly because i really like the whole first-love-blooming-from-friendship thing, but it's got the added angst from kids who've been forced to grow up too quickly.

it's also maybe part of the queer experience overall, that you grow up knowing that you're different compared to most of your peers, but sometimes you do find someone different like you, and you bond over that quickly. it sure hits the queer/neurodivergent person close to the heart :') Togashi did an amazing job fleshing out all his characters, gon and killua are both kids who grew up in crazy circumstances, who somehow found each other by pure chance.

also much like real life, we all go through shit (it's just part of being alive), and having someone stick by you as you go through it (platonic or romantic) is kinda what we all want in the end right? when i look at the ships i really enjoyed these past few years, queer or otherwise, they all kinda go through some sort of sticking-together-through-super-tough-times plot. madoka/homura sticks out to me as one such ship oughfhgh god they are so sad. and their situation is sooooo fucked up!!!

hey karina, in gonna ask a fairly odd question. as a writer myself, i personally try to make my y/n’s relatable, first and foremost for myself, and obviously for at least most people that will be reading my fics. so i assume every other writer does something similar as well.

firstly, thank you for the compliment! you're actually right about the thing u said in the beginning; nearly every writer out there is (a bit) self-indulgent when writing fics — me included. ofc, i try to keep out any descriptions about the reader's appearance so more people can actually enjoy my works and insert themselves when imagining whatever happens in the fic.

now to answer this first question; ‘so are you girls actually that pretty, or do you just write like that hoping someone would think that of you someday?’

simple answer: it depends heavily on the writer. everyone has different intentions behind how and why they portray their reader in their fics like they do.

to answer it for me: it’s kind of both. i have worked on my self-confidence and i actually have learnt to appreciate and love how i look. so, naturally i think i am indeed pretty. but, of course, i still have some deeply rooted insecurities that ‘m still working on.

i partially wish to erase those by praising the reader in my fics. by having the characters complimenting the reader (me, because im super self indulgent when writing) it boosts my confidence & helps me feel better when i need it.

that’s why i also love to read other fics that have the same type of style; thus, where reader gets praised in any kinda way. whether it’s physical appearance or personality wise. sometimes i read fiction solely to avoid my irl problems / insecurities or kinda solve them in a way.

reading about a reader who constantly thinks shit about themselves, is just gonna multiply all those problems for me and make me miserable—so i don’t wanna write nor read that (though i sometimes do include or like to read stuff with, for example, a reader w trust issues. that’s when i need some comfort or when i am just in the mood for angst LOL)

second question: if you girls are loved and have boyfriends why do you even need fanfiction?

simple answer: there are many different reasons as to why someone could write or read fanfiction. not everyone who reads or writes it, do it to feel loved or because they’re missing out on affection irl. it can for example be for comfort or it can be just for fun because you simply like to read or love the characters! there’s no need for a deep reason behind everything. you don’t necessarily have to have a special reason to read fics.

for me: my reasons for writing and reading fiction are yes, partially because i wanna giggle and kick my feet reading about my fav characters as love interests, but also because it’s just fun! i mainly read when i’m bored tbh. sometimes when im in need of comfort, other times when i need to have a laugh. it heavily depends on my mood actually lolol

well, lastly, i hope you find someone who makes you feel loved irl. i’m sure there’s someone out there who you will meet and who will help you heal + gain self-confidence.

even if that person never comes; you have yourself. learning to love yourself may take a while, even a lifetime, but you will eventually get there. i hope that answers your questions <3 !!

TUTORIAL/PROCESS ON..Uh… MY ART!!!

OKAY HERE WE GO!

First off, I use procreate, and, surprisingly, NO custom brushes!! Almost all of them are default and you can find just by browsing around. And also, some of the tips are only on procreate, really sorry!! But i bet there are a lot of Ibis, CSP, Ect. equivalents!

BEFORE ART AND.. UHHH STUFF YOURE DOING IN THE BACKGROUND??

Almost ALWAYS when drawing, i have something happening/playing in the background like music, a show/movie that ive watched like a million times (Steven Universe), or maybe even an art stream (jakei my beloved /hj) Honestly anything in the background is nice!

More on that, if you like music, i totally suggest finding mood based playlists that is based on what youre drawing. So if youre drawing just cute fluff then put on something that reflects that!! Does it have any actual effect on the art itself? Probably not!! I just like it a lot LMFAO. You can even find tons of character related playlists on spotify you can listen to!

Also suggest having maybe a small art station somewhere! I personally have a small art area that i set up LITERALLY 2 DAYS AGO and i LOVE IT. Anywhere really works, it can literally be your bed!! I just really like the idea of somewhere dedicated to my hobbies, im a nerd :D

ALSO MAKE SURE TO STAY HYDRATED

I also suggest, especially if you tend to draw for long periods of time, to do hand stretches and stuff. (Above my desk i have a stretching guide thingy by @tizzymcwizzy that i suggest doing before during and after longer sessions)

SKETCHING AND FIRST PART OF THE PROCESS!!

First off, one thing that has always been a huge help has been keeping a sketchbook always to jot down ideas, especially in school when we’re not allowed on any personal electronics. I barely use it now that its summer, but it always has been a huge help keeping one with me almost everywhere i go! Plus, its always a lot of “woah eww” when looking back at old art, its kinda like a little archive!!

BUT THATS NOT WHAT YOURE HERE FOR PROBABLY

The big things youre thinking about when sketching down your ideas is NOT making it perfect. The sketch 99% of the time will look absolutely terrible and thats okay, and honestly preferred! Most of the time nobody will even see it, so dont worry about trying to make it look polished. Youre just trying to put the idea on the canvas, thats all youre focused on! Try to stay loose and simple!

BACKGROUND (sometimes)

Fun fact: I usually go from sketch to background to lineart!

I do this for 2 main reasons: firstly, because doing the background can help establish the mood, and also mainly to help pick the colors later on! Although, a lot of the time i dont even do this lol, only for drawing where theres actually a background (im a fraud)

Also, for backgrounds, especially for things like landscapes, you want to try to work with big shapes to refined details, never just tiny sections at a time!

OKAY ACTUALLY, HERES WHAT I TEND TO KEEP IN MIND:

Keep most lines in one big stroke, not many tiny ones

On digital, erasing is super easy, feel feee to over shoot your lines and erase back over

For things with more emphasis, make bolder lines, for example, the eyes or hands

If the lineart just isnt working out, feel free to literally just refine the sketch until it looks like lineart (I DO THIS A LOT)

Thats all I’ve figured out, lineart is still a mystery to me..

BASIC COLORING!! (Yayy coloring the best part)

First what i do when putting down basic colors is just try to figure out what would be the best general colors, sometimes you can use those little dots on character sheets and use that to figure out what colors would look best together

Youre not going for perfect and youre just jotting down the colors, keep it messy n stuff, no refined details allowed!

After you finish putting down the colors, your new bestfriend in procreate (idk about other equivalents) is the curves, color balance, and hue saturation and brightness function (found in the second dot on the top row). These let you adjust the colors very easily!! I love them a lot!!!

BASIC SHADING

(Sometimes)

Now, a lot of the time i use the basic Multiply layer method, where i just use a dark purple and set the layer to multiply, but recently ive been doing it a BIITTT differently

Basically, take the base color from the previous step and increase the saturation, and decrease brightness, like this:

And then, lower the opacity of the brush down to MAYYYBEEE 5%, take that new color that you have, and take the… hue?? Maybe?? Like, blue green purple ect, but keep saturation and brightness mostly the same. Then, layer layer layer with those different colors, or dont! Use funky colors and shading in places where they shouldnt be, make it crazy!! Dont let it make sense!! There are no set rules for this part AT ALL!! Youre just having fun now! >:)

I totally suggest looking at @yo-honne s art for coloring inspiration. I base mine off theirs A LOT.

TEXTURING N STUFF!

Pro tip for this: spiderverse.

OKAY BUT ACTUALLY the spiderverse movies style is INCREDIBLE, i highly suggest just staring at it and taking mental notes on practically everything

For texturing, i tend to go kinda crazy. I like to use the grid and decimals brushes for shading and lighting respectively on procreate

For this part, you can use mostly random colors, and there are literally no rules!! Youre SUPPOSED to make it look crazy!! No rules man! Put it in random places and HAVE FUN! Go fast and try not to think much about what youre doing!! Dont use the right colors EVER!

FINAL DETAILS AND TOUCHUPS

At this part, you marry procreate.

Overlay layers are your best friend, experiment with them A LOT because that REALLY help making your art pop! Especially with overlay gradients

On procreate, theres a thing called chromatic aberration, that can make colors look blurred and glitchy, use that with errored characters! Or dont!

Use halftones feature!!! It really help!! If you wanna do lighting, you can use an airbrush brush and then use the halftones feature, or just use the decimals brush!!

For lighting try to use layers like screen or add! Or dont, make it random colors for lighting! Go and have fun!

On a new layer, set it to something like vivid light, hard light, ect. And use very vibrant colors to go over lines and areas you feel need more emphasis in the artwork!! Especially if, like in this one, the characters colors are so dark you can barely see the lines

Mess with random brushes in your app and use those to your advantage!

Work fast and try not to stress! Take breaks and take care of yourself!

FINAL NOTES

I can not stress enough, EXPERIMENT!! Try to put random elements of art and stepping out of your comfort zone as much as you can! Have fun and go random! (I think thats my new catchphrase)

Reference things if you want to try something new. For a while i thought references really only meant for weird poses, but it can be for anything!! For this one, i literally looked up spider punk spiderverse and used that as reference, and for the background (before i put filters on) i referenced samdoesarts!

If you feel like messing with colors, make the background something random and try to make the character look… well with the background?? Kinda hard to explain lolol

This is a general guide for my art, and i hardly ever even follow it myself. I fluctuate with my art a ton, taking outisde influences to put into the art and never staying with the same thing every time. My art process is wild and random and very much confusing even to me, and i like it that way!

This whole thing ive developed mostly on my own, and by taking tons of inspiration from other art i found appealing! So some of it might literally be wrong!! SORRYY

For coloring, I generally think it's a little bit of having an eye for color -- i look at a lot of other artists' pieces and try to remember things they do that i like with color! And some of it is going to school for animation, where im trying to make things simple and cohesive.

My go-to is

pick colors for whatever I'm doing. This is sort of just...based on intuition. But two things i make sure to do(or try to) is if its a character, I try to limit them to 2 "main" colors and an accent, if needed. I try not to exceed that, personally, because with my art it tends to get too busy looking? But its not a hard rule for sure -- This little guy is blue and gold. The hair is a really light blue, and then the dark blue clothes, and some gold accenting to break things up. Backgrounds i tend to just pick what feels right. But this background has blue, so I make sure its the same type of blue that is on the character.

Then, I have a set of layers that I overlay ontop. I have this saved as a material template in Clip paint and I just drag-drop. This is where all my color correcting happens, tbh.

adjust the brightness and contrast, if needed.

adjust the hue and saturation. I tend to make the picture a little warmer hue, and boost the saturation

I have two textures i overlay, and adjust he opacity per image. One is a paper texture, and the other one despite being named paper still, is jus a static noise texture.

a gradient i adjust colors on per image, but warmbright-to-cooldark is generally my rule of thumb

Then I'll add some glow from the lightsource as a glow or overlay layer, too. this is normally just a gradient and erasing bits

here that is with just it popped on, and then with my adjustments

Next I'll normally add a gradient map, and adjust the color balance to make sure everything looks kind of unified. Sometimes i do this and then delete both of them because i liked it before LOL. But this really helps give a mood, too.

I also change the lineart color. If I'm being lazy, I just make it all one dark, saturated color (in this case a dark saturated red) Now it looks like its hot a summery! Vs how cool coded the original picture colors were!

Thats my like....quick and dirty. Theres a lot of good tutorials on how to actually colorpick initially and everything, but tbh I dont really think about it a ton and I think a lot of it comes from having a large mental color library 😅

I have been q!/c!Foolish Loki & Thor truthing for months now because of the QSMP Lore and how q!Foolish acts / is perceived there, but there are so many similarties to MCU Loki & Thor, especially now with the newly revealed DSMP Finale EternalDuo Lore, and I have just been brainrotting about it...

If the DSMP was a "never ending cycle, with all the characters having their memories erased/ or being reincarnated, while the main God just watched them and reset the story everytime he deemed fit", then thats just literally the concept of Ragnarok?!?! And its even more similar to the Marvel Comic Loki who also went outside the story to meet the Gods behind the story.

Hear me out:

Both Loki and q!Foolish are morally grey, they try to play both sides, and always try to gain sth from their current situation, even if it involves bad people, sometimes its for personal gain, sometimes its for their own survival.

But they have people they truly care about, who they would fight and die for. (Also the fact that both are bad at showing emotions and tend to bottle everything up)

Then both are immortal shapeshifting gods, who embody chaos, creativity and trickery. They dont act like the norm, which makes people mistrust them and sometimes they do really stupid things while trying to fix a mess, but only make it worse in the process, but they still CARE.

And then we have the q!/ c!Foolish and Thor parallels:

Like q!Foolish really was on his Thor in Infinity War Arc before and during Purgatory when we look at the QSMP Lore, both started out as this sunshine himbo god with Lightning Powers (Dsmp Lore)

Both are smarter than the fandom/ other characters give them credit for and they are often misunderstood or underestimated.

Both found families in their Teams, Thor with the Avengers (and Revengers) and q!Foolish with q!Roier's family and then Team BOLAS during the Purgatory Event

Both lost pretty much everything they ever cared for, their homes and their families, in q!Foolish's case q!Vegetta being absent and Leo & the other Eggs disappearing, and then the characters being taken from their homes and sent to Purgatory, so now all they have left is a couple remaining friends/ team mates that they are willing to raise HELL for.

At the end of Purgatory we had q!Foolish cracking under the pressure, him finally breaking (down) after everything that happened, hell he even lost his eye just like Thor in Infinty War?!?!

q!Foolish even unocked new (old) powers after Purgatory, and both Thor & q!Foolish are Kings too.

Like there are so many similarities, Im sure they arent on purpose, but I couldnt help but notice while I was brainrotting over Marvel, they are some of my fav characters, so seeing these similarities and comparing the characters is just so interesting to me :D

A random headcanon: heinkel gets sober in all the timelines where wilhelm is erased <33 because its like. wilihelm gets erased, heinkel and reinhards relationship is better, so its like.... things are a little better for heinkel now. obviously his whole complex feelings on reinhard are either lessened or erased entirely, but i also feel like heinkel got at least Some of his insecurities because of how wilhelm probably was as a dad. and bc wilhelms gone - WELP nice going heinkel half of your insecurities are gone!! so, well, maybe heinkel wants to be fully sober and present for reinhard now. he wants to be in reinhards life as his dad...

General Opinion over said character:

if i met him irl i would immediately pull a pridebaru and poison heinkel's drink. HOWEVER, i am also screaming and crying over heinkel's heartbreaking tragic corruption arc where he goes from a very earnest and hardworking person whos trying his best with all the shitty cards handed to him. and then he turns into *GESTURES TO PRESENT DAY HEINKEL*

i need him to get his shit together and have the most GRUELING, PAINFUL, NAIL BITING redemption arc of all time. he's just so fucking pathetic 24/7 it's like... like im sitting here and reading every scene hes in and im going, god hes like one of those sad dirty exhausted stray dogs you see backed into a corner and theyre just like growling and snapping at everything that comes close. like we vaguely know that its Possible for him to get his shit together at least a little bit (see: pride if), and we Know that heinkel used to be a very affectionate person to louanna and reinhard, and the fact that tappei said he'd make heinkel the mc if subaru didnt exist indicates that heinkels Probably gonna have some insane development, especially given the debut of the rowan-heinkel dynamic... i cant wait for it T^TT i just like how hes Terrible... but hes also clearly very human. what a well-written character. i hope he goes for anime onlys kneecaps in season three.

All the transfem Uni stuff has kinda bothered us on a more personal level

We love seeing transfem rep don’t get us wrong! But the Uni fictive in our system wasn’t fem at all (note: we aren’t the system with a Uni who got called a “parody” or the fictive anon you’ve already seen; we’ve mostly kept to ourselves out of fear) and once the transfem confirmation came out and Kneeby started saying stuff about how nobody should see Uni as masc anymore (which we do understand the “why” of), Uni in our sys got REALLY upset

He was even more scared to exist than he was before bc he’s more masc aligned, and he was terrified that his existence and identity would hurt people (aka Kneeby) or get him hurt by the fandom

Now they’ve almost forced themself to be ok with fem pronouns and stuff (she seems happy and says it was just their identity shifting, but I’m really not sure…).

The fact that they were and still are so scared to even EXIST as themself (even though being different from source is one of the most common things for fictives) when this is supposed to be a disability-friendly place really says something about how harsh this community can be

Sorry about the sorta-vent but Uni’s been really wanting to get this off his chest and this seemed like a better place to talk about it than anywhere else

i may be a singlet but i resonate heavily with this. i remember early 2023, i was a uni fictionkin and this was basically my exact experience, im an autistic masc leaning gay enby and when i first got into sparklecare i saw myself in uni and projected everything about myself onto them, which included my identity for a while once i heard about the reveal. i felt erased by the reveal, and in all honesty i still sorta do even though i dont see myself in them at all anymore, considering how the actually mlm characters (mel cyn orange) are pushed to the side and given no screen time unless cyns trying to start fires.

i dont see myself in uni at all anymore, but i saw everything about myself in them at one point, and i was terrified of making myself a known figure at all in the fandom since i knew id be judged and criticized for being a masc gay and still resonating with uni. i spoke up about this, which i consider one of the worst mistakes ive ever made since im still hated to this day for it, by almost the entire fandom, even some of the clowns. ironically, i was the one being accused of erasure for speaking up about how the clowns seem to not want gay men in their comic.

ra\iden (a LITERAL GOD who was so strong he was only bound by the rules of mortal kombat and the elder gods and his soft spot for mortals and loyalty to protecting earthrealm, kind and wise. Turned into a supposed dEmi-GOd who was willing to use the realm that was his charge as a fucking bargaining chip to a man who's more untrustworthy than shan/g ts/ung, he's hardly around OR he's suddenly not as powerful until he remembers he can obliterate ppl with lightning, he's a cold hardass who's so alien to mortals emotions despite being around them longer and basically raising one like his own son)

ja/x (gets traumatized to hell and back for very little payoff used as depression fetish exploitation, at least his tower ending is great despite the "#woke" bs, his daughter however has the most fucked ending to basically erase herself to make j/ax happy like???? Let alone try to kill one at a time??)

I do like some things like kolle/ctor and ge/rus and cet/rion like i like those characters but by god cetr/ion was wasted potential you cant drop her brother was fucking shinn/ok and then proceed to basically make her some weak errand girl who i feel in the end is making fun of the "divine feminine gaia" aesthetic like the writing wants her to be the bad guy but also sympathetic in the dumbest way possible and she sounds like someone on Twitter who just learned about the concept of "balance" and slaps buddha quotes incorrectly

Also i never cared for shin/nok until recently when i was like "hey wait no his concept kinda slaps actually"

At the end of the day we all have our opinions i guess. And mine is: mk new timeline is written by people who like superheroes movies when mk should be written by people who like kung fu movies
