Hi! I hope you don't mind I take your reply to my post to talk a little bit about script writing as a scriptwriter.

This is in no way an attack, I just saw an opportunity to explain something as someone who works writing scripts.

At this point I think it's becoming clear that live action only exists because Netflix wants to have its own Game of Thrones, but that they are not going to respect the core of the original series, because their goal is different. Having said this, I want to review why the changes that are being made are incorrect (if the idea is to respect the story and the characters) focusing on the 3 protagonists: Sokka, Katara and Aang.

Let's start with Sokka, whose changes are perhaps the most "controversial."

As I said in my original post, The core of Sokkas character is that he is a boy who grew up trying to be a man since his father left for war. In that attempt, as someone immature and unguided, he had sexist attitudes, only to later mature and become a real man. Great example for young boys.

No, his sexism comments didn't last long, but they changed at a key moment in the plot: When Suki appears. Avatar is a special series because it was one of the first of its time to so explicitly touch on the topic of feminism. Rebelling in every sense of the word is a recurring theme in ATLA. Sexism was literally knocked out of Sokka when he met the Kyoshi warriors. That's why the scene of him wearing the warriors' clothes is so significant and why it's so important that at the end of the season Sokka has learned his lesson, because there is a direct comparison between him and Pakku. Sokka, on his path to becoming a man, was able to deconstruct his misogynistic mentality at his young age and without an adult guidance, while a man of Paku's age, admired and respected, was still rooted in his sexist beliefs.

It was Katara's act of rebelling against Sokka's sexism that freed Aang from the icerberg. Because, again, an act of rebellion, of standing firm in the face of injustice, along with redemption, are the pillars of Avatar. Sokka's journey encompasses all of those topics, and the fact that he is 16 and not 19 is essential to his character arc.

Is not that we want him to be sexist. We want him to be flawed. Because each flaw are unique to each character. It talks about their development and also about the themes of the show.

Also "Toned down" it sounds weird because as a kid I always knew Sokka was an idiot when being sexist. But it wasn't that bad that I was afraid of him or so angry that I hated his character. Because Avatar is a kid shows even if people from all ages can enjoy it. So when they said "toned down" I was really confused. It made me feel that for them, the only way to show him being sexist way to make him do some unredeemable thing.

Katara

So. Im gonna start saying that Im not a fan of Katara. I think her character is written incredibly well, but it just not for me. In fact, i do feel like we needed an scene between Sokka and her where they can clear the air about their mom. The things she said to her brother and to Aang, the only survivor of a genocide, were too hard to not have a talk after that.

NOW, After saying that, Katara is Katara because of her backstory. Seeing her mother die in front of her and being the only waterbender in her tribe lead her to feel the need to take care of everyone, especially her brother, to be overprotective, to be compassionate. To be Katara.

Sokka himself admits that sometimes when he tries to remember his mother he only remembers Katara. While Aang is a boy who must mature faster than normal, Katara is a girl who has already grown faster than normal and her journey not only includes rebelling and protecting others, but also recovering some of that lost childhood.

Katara is the representation of water. Healing and destructive at the same time. Turbulent but benevolent. I feel the live action writers, and even the actors and actresses, do not understand that the feminist message was already perfectly captured in the original material. The creators of Avatar created complex female characters and just because Katara's story is influenced by the concept of motherhood does not mean that she is not a strong character. She is a strong character because her story is influenced by that concept. Not because motherhood in itself makes us women strong, but because motherhood, specifically for her character, puts her at crossroads and forces her to go through an arc of transformation.

Aang

I'm going to be concise and short with Aang. The decision to have so many "distractions" in his mission is because Aang is 12 years old and does not want to face a war. I think it's something so basic that it seems dumb not to understand that a young boy doesn't want the responsibility of saving the world and seeing his friends die again. I think, maybe, just maybe, understanding that is not that hard.

If they wanted to write a story of wars, blood and darkness, they should not have chosen Avatar, whose protagonist is a little boy.

some spoilers!! and apologies for the long post.

i honestly really enjoyed it! it was almost like a skins/euphoria but imbued with like a heartstopper/sex education vibe in the sense that it dealt with serious teenage issues/mental health but light enough that it doesn't weigh down on you. my character thoughts:

mia was so infuriating almost at all times. obviously under the circumstances, it makes sense but there's this level of likeability that was missing for me. maybe it was the writing or the acting who knows but in my mind it's like this: im making an albeit an unfair comparison to effy from skins or even rue from euphoria, but they were battling their demons and making all the wrong choices but there was still this level of “i want to root for them” that's missing with mia personally.

in a similar vein with alison, she is meant to be this popular rich mean girl archetype who surprises you but obviously in the first half of the season she's supposed to be kind of unlikeable but i found her very endearing. as for the relationship, alison and mia DO NOT belong together. like at all. i am not rooting for them. alison in a way forced a relationship with mia and then also mia was like too scared to say anything about it. its clear that alison liked mia waaaaay more than mia liked alison. like carli says in the last ep as well, “to learn to not be a fantasy to each other”, alison needs to take mia off this pedastal she has for her. i'm very interested to learn more about her character outside of mia though if they hopefully continue the show. i have a feeling that we are supposed to think that she and cameron hooked up at the end or something but i'm rlly hoping its a red herring.

carli is also a character i would love to learn more about. she definitely has more chemistry with mia and i love her for standing her ground against mia, as she needs to help herself before she can be in a healthy relationship. but i will say it was pretty shitty stringing cameron along.

speaking of cameron, i didn't quite expect to like his character as much as i did. in a way his arc in the season is battling toxic masculinity as he kinda seems to come off as this laid back, bro kinda guy but he cares and loves so deeply. it wasn't right calling bec a "sket". i'm not british but obviously its like equivalent to slut, and im very glad he owned up to it. i'm also really interested to know more about his family and stuff.

i love bec as well. she deserves all the happiness in the world. im glad she was able to air out her things with mia, albeit in a very treacherous way and i also love how her mom was supportive of the abortion. i'm honestly kinda tired seeing the mom kicking out the daughter for getting pregnant trope so it was nice to see a mom just being supportive. bec is just such a wonderful friend and mia honestly has a lot to make up for. re not telling mia about her and cam, it was honestly frustrating seeing mia be so petty. i understand that its a big secret and she felt like everyone was hiding things from her but its also right to have secrets amongst friends, idk that really stuck out to me.

will for me had the weakest arc as in it wasn't the most interesting to me. don't get me wrong, i love the character but it just wasnt giving a whole lot to me. i recognize him as more than the comic relief but also at the same time he was stirring the pot in a lot of the arguments / blowups the group had, consciously and unconsciously. though i will say will x theo <3 but comedic duo of the century is will x alison. the little song they did for mia's birthday is stuck in my head.

tldr; great characters and great show. it's really hard to find a show about teens as a 25yo living in a 16yo body that i enjoy and don't find annoying. i just love how each character was able to be so nuanced despite being an ensemble cast.

but knowing netflix's track record it's gonna get cancelled because a) it's good b) has wlw content... but i really hope not.

Welcome wanderers to another #AudioDramaSunday! We're going to start off with the @tellnotalespod April Fools episode because I laughed so hard it was so chaotic. It was just a silly good time! Leanne and Asher did incredible work playing each other's characters. Also on the Tell No Tales front I am CONCERNED about the ACTUAL episode 7 because uhhhh what was Frank doing? I am also shaking Leo once again I love them but LEO TALK TO YOUR FRIENDS

@souloperatorpod episode 7 was excellent as always. Tessa Whitlock has 2 hands and I am going to convince myself that this won't end poorly. The end of the episode makes me ConcernedTM but. But nothing actually I'm scared of episode 8

@woebegonepod 152 has brought back my beloved Tex and he is doing suspicious things and im love him anyway. I don't know what he's up to and I don't know what Stinky is up to and honestly I don't know what Dylan is up to but gods I love Woe.Begone

In the meantime, this should mean even more time for podcasts (both my own and other peoples) which should help me reset before heading back into a Day Job. My to listen list is very long and I'm excited to chip away at it some!

good things im looking forward to in this arc/calming reminders:

eggs will eventually return, hopefully some less active players will be more active, i want to see them subvert this trope <hoping and coping, starting fresh and new is fun and always inspires me to play more mc, this will end in two weeks which is not very long :3, angst and cool themed fanart, comfort will come it has to it has to it has to pLEASE

the reasons im apprehensive:

survival mob mentality stuff is not my jam because i think its antihuman and overdone, i can already sense the bad takes about why 'this guy is more evil and BAD than my guy!!! >:|', all the content feels like its gonna be intense and i like more of a balance of fun hangouts and lore moments, bad is seperated from almost all of his friends except for pierre and tina and missa, ik he gets along with most people but im so gonna miss his hangouts with bagi, forever, foolish, baghera, etoiles, etc etc

but, deep breath, its qsmp, even though my hyperfixated brain is panicking about the content not being enjoyable for me all the time(it does this every time istg shush brain), it is still qsmp, and it will all still be ok.

LIKE FUCK MAN..... heinkel may be a piece of shit now but he took like those marriage vows of like in sickness and in health SERIOUSLY. its been like twenty years and hes been searching for a cure for louanna all this time. it drives me BONKERS...

A NOTP I have with said character: anyone other than louanna :((((((((((((((( pls..... pls dont separate them shes already in a coma :((((((((((((((((((((((((( ......except ill make an exception for rowan and heinkel because. they have 95 mental illnesses and theyre ALWAYS making it everyone elses problem... theyd be so horrible together and i can only see it happening if theyre drunk and the world is literally gonna end. they are Terrible. but they Would be entertaining...

A random headcanon: heinkel gets sober in all the timelines where wilhelm is erased <33 because its like. wilihelm gets erased, heinkel and reinhards relationship is better, so its like.... things are a little better for heinkel now. obviously his whole complex feelings on reinhard are either lessened or erased entirely, but i also feel like heinkel got at least Some of his insecurities because of how wilhelm probably was as a dad. and bc wilhelms gone - WELP nice going heinkel half of your insecurities are gone!! so, well, maybe heinkel wants to be fully sober and present for reinhard now. he wants to be in reinhards life as his dad...

General Opinion over said character:

if i met him irl i would immediately pull a pridebaru and poison heinkel's drink. HOWEVER, i am also screaming and crying over heinkel's heartbreaking tragic corruption arc where he goes from a very earnest and hardworking person whos trying his best with all the shitty cards handed to him. and then he turns into *GESTURES TO PRESENT DAY HEINKEL*

i need him to get his shit together and have the most GRUELING, PAINFUL, NAIL BITING redemption arc of all time. he's just so fucking pathetic 24/7 it's like... like im sitting here and reading every scene hes in and im going, god hes like one of those sad dirty exhausted stray dogs you see backed into a corner and theyre just like growling and snapping at everything that comes close. like we vaguely know that its Possible for him to get his shit together at least a little bit (see: pride if), and we Know that heinkel used to be a very affectionate person to louanna and reinhard, and the fact that tappei said he'd make heinkel the mc if subaru didnt exist indicates that heinkels Probably gonna have some insane development, especially given the debut of the rowan-heinkel dynamic... i cant wait for it T^TT i just like how hes Terrible... but hes also clearly very human. what a well-written character. i hope he goes for anime onlys kneecaps in season three.

My analysis on their psyche was right but at what cost..

I expected it to happen but I failed to realize that they would start it so late in the season and conclude it in s.3. But in this misery I decided to do more analysis and theorizing. In the context of the ending of s.2 (it's stupidly long and yet this is only half my ideas)

I do feel this was both of their lowests and super dysfunctional, but it needed to happen. Crowley needed to finally talk about his feelings and what he wants because it's valuable. In my opinion that kiss was less of a tempt and more a moment of consolation for himself. "This might just be the last time we talk, I might never get the change, maybe this can change things" he definitely still has his issues. Aziraphale as a character who currently has the arc of someone indoctrinated ends up dismissing and putting down Crowley's entire being.

As for s.3 I think we're definitely seeing them apart for a while. I said it from the beginning, they need to grow by themselves, they cannot dump their problems on each other (parallel to Nina and Maggie). They each need to have their character arc, aziraphale is definitely going to be more overt considering how much we saw how his philosophy is all over the place (the amount of mental gymnastics thus man goes though to maintain his beliefs just reeks of religious cults) but still is stuck in this toxic relationship with heaven.Yeah Neil is definitely gonna make this hard for aziraphale

But Crowley I think is gonna be less overt, though this definitely confirms to me atleast that we need to see how Crowley falls. Every issue stems from there. Both of them need to realize that being kind, nice and loving isn't a "angelic" trait. Crowley makes this reasons to why he's never good enough or unforgivable and has tendencies to worship aziraphale, trying to do everything he can. While aziraphale thinks that means Crowley wants to be an angel and that he'd be better as it (more into the superiority issue). And then that feeds into Crowley's issue and becomes a whole mess.

Taking time away for aziraphale to realize what heaven truly is BY himself. Yeah it's the reality check he needs. Honestly both of them should just go to therapy. Ones indoctrinated other ones got religious trauma.

Ps: metatron planned this, that look he gave Crowley and the music getting sinister. I almost expected him to walk out and tell aziraphale to kill him off. He knew what he was doing.

What’s your favourite part of a story like … character development, references, art, morals/ethics, ideology, hierarchy’s, non-stereotypical characters and such? Like Casino Cups Mugman so-so becoming a power hungry figure for immortality. Gotta admit, I wasn’t really expecting that one given the stereotype people label him from the original game! Srry if this is too long I’m just geeking out so much!

Oh man what is my favorite part of a story? That’s a tough one, ngl. I think i gotta say character development. I just really like stories that tend to be mainly character based. Seeing the cast change as the story goes on. Seeing relationships build and break is just fascinating and really fun to write. I’m also a sucker for a good redemption arc. Like with Zuko from ATLA, it was just so good and definitely inspired how i write those types of characters.

Also the underlying message or ideology is probably the better word to use. I’m not sure what to call it tbh but we’ll go with ideology. That’s another fave of mine. Especially if its done in a symbolic way and not done in an obvious way. Like with in the Babadook. How i saw the movie, (and spoiler if you haven’t seen it) the Babadook is an analogy to the mother’s stress/mental illness (im not sure if it was supposed to be anything in particular. It has been awhile since I’ve seen it but yeah). At the end of the movie, she finds a way to control it and conquer it. But it’s still there just like how many ppl with mental illness will always have it but there is a way they can take back control over it. A lot of horror movies uses monsters as a stand in for an idea/construct. And that’s probably why i like them a lot. The same thing applies with animated movies. Complicated ideas being broken down into symbolism to get the ideology across is just clever ways is just so fun to watch. An example is in Encanto, (spoiler warning) Casita breaking after the last argument between Mirabel and Abuela was the physical representation of the family falling apart. Stuff like that is just cool to me haha

And ah yes, breaking the stereo types. Yeah that’s a fave, too. Making the audience think that it’s gonna go one way and then bam, nope, this ain’t gonna go that way! Not this way! Shrek is a great example of this cuz 1. Fiona isn’t just some damsel in distress. 2. Shrek isn’t just some scary ogre, he’s a genuine guy that’s fine with just how he is. And 3. It put the whole fairy tale on it’s head while making fun of how outrageous the traditional stories are.

Im approaching the end of episode 53 of campaign 3 and im.

Soooo much has happened in the last hanful of episodes. Holy shit. Party is split, where the fuck are Laudna/Orym/Ashton. Are they also having magical adventures to rescue a frightened bull creature or are they suffering??? Given who is in that party i feel like they are suffering tm but u dont know yet and its driving me feral. RIP to all the critters out there who had to experience this arc live and couldn't just zoom through the episodes back to back to back.

Imogen is going to have a mental breakdown, but chet and fcg are experiencing a mixture of things that is very funnie. Idk who these guests are really but Aabria(Deanna)is fucking hilarious and FRIDA is such a vibe, so glad fcg is meeting another of his kind. I still don't know if aeormatons can be werewolves but god I wanna know. Team the power of friendship is experiencing things and havent had anything catastrophic happen.

I have the sneaking suspicion that the team on the other side of the world is not gonna handle things as well. Idk if Orym is going to be able to rein them into peaceful resolutions. I am excited to see if they also get some new guest star buddies though 👀

i’ve had this thought rotting in my brain ever since mitski dropped The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We so im gonna dump it onto tumblr but first of all

SPOILER WARNING FOR LAND OF THE LUSTROUS / HOUSEKI NO KUNI !!!! PLEASE READ THE MANGA <3

also i would like to add a second warning that this post may not make a lot of sense grammatically :3 currently am not lucid enough to make a lot of sense :3

i think that the song When Memories Snow can describe a lot of phos’ character arcs and their progression eerily well like if you were to make a phos animatic to this song it would line up so perfectly

okay first of all i would like to point out the general connection between this song and the gems. i have not analysed mitski’s song by itself, and so i dont know what she intended behind When Memories Snow, so maybe the “memories” could straight up be a metaphor for something and not actual memories but thats not what we’re gonna talk about rn !! we know that the gem’s memories are stored in the physical gem pieces themselves, so if they lose a body part they lose parts of their memories. phos has their whole thing with losing their body parts (and effectively their memories) and becoming a completely different person and all that good stuff

oki now the lyrics :3

“when memories snow // and cover up the driveway // i shovel all those memories // clear the path to drive to the store”

this gives me the vibes of post-winter phos after theyve lost antarc. the first two lines really remind me of whenever phos would just have random hallucinations of antarc’s death over and over again in the anime and the other two lines remind me of how they would basically have to just ignore the hallucinations and keep going on with their life. i would also like to add that while i do think that HNK is an amazing story and that the anime adaptation is honestly so perfect, i also think that there isnt a lot of focus on the fact that phos should not be able to remember jackshit ??? yknow ??? the way that canonical phos just keeps going on with life just kind of fits well with how nonchalant the line “clear the path to drive to the store” feels to me

“and when memories melt // i hear them in the drainpipe // drippin through the downspout // as i lie awake in the dark”

okay so i originally sent a bunch of my interpretations to a friend and i said that this part really fits with phos’ trauma with losing antarc. the way that these lines are phrased gives the vibes of when its late at night and youre tired but the clock is ticking too loudly and you just cant sleep. but now reading these lines again, i feel like it resonates more with how, once again, phos has lost like so many memories they cannot remember jackshit anymore. their memories have melted, but theyre still lingering and they still cling onto phos. a good example of this would be when phos wakes all the other gems up at the end of their hibernation and phos forgets who cinnabar is for a moment, the same cinnabar that was phos’ whole motivation for the first half of season 1. also the “as i lie awake in the dark” basically describes how phos refused to sleep during the second half of the season

ok verse 2 !!

“and if i break // could i go on break?

THIS IS THE MOST PHOSPHOPHYLLITE CODED LINE OF THE ENTIRE SONG !!! to me at least :3 not only does this line apply to them in a literal sense, with phos being the second weakest gem and them breaking a crazy amount of times throughout the whole series, “breaking” also applies to them in a mental sense. i get two different images when i think of this line, the first one being that one scene in the anime (and manga too? maybe? idk its been a while :() where phos is thinking about kongo and the lunarians and everything and they start cracking and their alloy just explodes out of them. i think thats the closest to a mental breakdown a gem has ever experienced at that point. the second image i get is when,,, phos becomes like,,, yk phos’ shattered / monster form whatever you call it,,, thats what i think of

“be back in my room // writing speeches in my head”

i think this goes back all the way to pre-trauma phos. “writing speeches in my head” could represent their encyclopaedia job?? but i think its a better metaphor for their want to join in with the other gems in fighting the lunarians. part of them knows it’ll never happen, so they resort to daydreaming about what it would be like

“listenin’ to the thousand hands // that clap for me in the dark”

connecting with my last point, they want the feeling of accomplishment and the general coolness of being able to fight and they want the praise from kongo and the other gems.

Hey guys. That's Alex. Or "weeds-or-wildflowers". Or "insider in orbit" . As some of you know me or remember from twitter or deartv forum.

I just wanted to say i needed to step back from walking dead series and fandom completely because it crushed me bad all recent months were too much misery to add to my already progressive depression and mental health ruined by war in my country. Please tell those like Yana or Amal or Klarka or Valentina or Dying light or anyone from deartv or twitter friends who might be worried that im ok physically and i just deleted twitter and logged out everywhere because being caryler in this fandom became unbearable.

I thought it's gonna be less painful after some time but no. Im not angry or furious or desperated anymore but i think it turned into infinite sadness and i don't think I'll ever overcome this whole "experience" that happened with caryl spinoff with something else. And i don't think ill gonna be as invested ever with anything else.

As to sdcc...i got some thoughts after lurking here and watching whole panel.

Couldn't miss seeing Melissa and as result watched whole thing.

Whole speculating on my part coming from my limited knowledge about some events behind the scenes and official statements or what was said.

- i was happy to see Melissa again. She looked healthy and that's what important. I hope she's as happy as possible in her personal life beyond what happened with spinoff and amc

- she was so sad but im not sure and don't think there's only one reason but mix of things. She was overwhelmed by show ending but at same time it seemed she was uncomfortable.

- yeah during some moments Norman reached to her she seemed uncomfy but i could interpret wrongly.

- but also seemed like she was warming up to him during other moments. So generally mcreedus got me in mixed feelings. I don't feel like im good character judge when it comes to people's body language and actions especially with someone like Norman and Melissa. But impression i got that he either tried to be "seen" as good supportive friend or he really felt guilty and needy for Melissa's support or both. So maybe Melissa's underwhelmed replies to him was her trying to keep distance because she didn't know how sincere he was. As many of us.

- that leads me to speculation that 80% of rumours were truth.

I speculate that's what happened:

1. After fallout of Daryl and Carol bonus episodes especially Carol one, amc decided to change spinoff course and form. And they also started to think about options.

2. Kang " got called to the carpet" by amc and she made quick and sketchy changes into s11 script or at least A part removing some daleah, possible Carol/Leah and caryl interactions out of the picture. Leaving reapers arc almost fully to drive plot.

3.i think in the end of the year caryl spinoff still supposed to happen and Kang was still showrunner. Last time Norman was on noticeable liking spree and public caryl support he posted on December 31st caryl tweet. I believe it was still happening. Then something happened which i believe was his sheldue getting filled and his fiance getting hers that created conflict for Norman to get everything he planned fulfilled. That's where i believe first talks about time/location changes started.

4. Talking about richonne and Rick movies i believe in February Gimple and Kang already worked on bringing them back not through movies but other type of project. Kang who didn't seem to talk about richonne/Michonne since her leaving eventually made huge thread on twitter about richonne even reaching to SG to promote couple in most desirable way for richonne fans possible (SG is much known and opened richonne fanboy)

5. I believe when Andrew visited set in the end of February that's when things became more concrete for richonne and neggie spinoff and less concrete for caryl and that's when sheldue issues became solid problem as Norman was bringing it to amc knowledge he can't do spinoff in that time on that place because he needs to be with his family in France.

6.that's when i believe amc started to think about options without Carol as new caryl spinoff format was already about driving plot to "endgame" point which is Rick reuniting with everyone.

7. I think mcreedus couldn't solve issue and that made their relationship on set more tense that led to fight on set which i believe wasn't as dramatic as some think but it pushed Melissa to step back from spinoff, maybe phrase that she needs a break was said by her as she got tired from all difficulties and misfortunes that came to them and fight with Norman only pushed her to final decision.

8. Richonne fan who i wont name but i guess many know who that was. Who originally found out about caryl spinoff cancellation and upcoming richonne spinoff from Nicotero got it from him during Walker Stalker. GN said at that moment already that caryl spinoff was cancelled because Melissa either "got tired" or "needed a break". So grain of truth is there, in that " she needs a break"

- here i don't think she really wanted a break from playing Carol rather than she needed break from drama behind the scenes. By this speculated order of events i don't think Norman stayed as excited as before after February and i don't think he desired things how they happened and don't think he just wanted to kick her out of his orbit.

- i believe he had idea things gonna work out but they didn't and Melissa saying final no was taken personal and touched his ego.

- following reaction from fandom and carylers especially made it only worse. And his sm childish sometimes deranged activity has some proofs of what i wrote happened.

- here please hear me out. Im not justifying his behaviour or anyone else's. Im trying to understand what drove this man actions from things i observed.

- so i think amc sacrificed Melissa/Carol more easily cuz their contracts weren't equal and they didn't want to lose more losing Norman. His spinoff is still under question.

- Norman would be ok without filming his spinoff but just taking money from contract but amc wouldn't. So here why they made this spinoff in certain location with such unsatisfying conditions for them. It still will be better paid than no spinoff.

- as for future idk what in amc plans regarding caryl. By things i saw at sdcc i don't think things are certain in any way. Caryl either gonna get their ending (happy or else) in the main show or Carol supposed to appear somewhere in twdu just to wrap her and caryl story if Norman not straight out lying there. Melissa's skeptical expression is either her knowing caryl story ends on main show (which can be flashforward as i said) or she just skeptical because she doesn't trust Norman and his words anymore and after that happened if there will be possibility to bring caryl back together as their separate show or her cameo she's not certain they won't fool her and fans again. And even if they wouldn't be able to fool her, fans will be gone already or just won't buy any promises and she won't take advantage to promise anything herself anymore because now she knows she doesn't have any voice to keep promise.

- as for richonne spinoff and else i really don't care. Couple years ago i shipped them and cared about characters when they were still on the show. But now? Don't care about AL or Rick. Richonne dynamic is established romantic but is underwhelming for me personally. Not because established but it seems became stale and Kind of very trivial in bad sense as can be with ship under Gimples direction through years. AK was bit better but still doesn't come to me as interested as she was with caryl during season 10. So i really don't know what they are gonna to explore with richonne there.

Neggie is "chewed plate " of mutual hate which doesn't develop characters so i don't see point of their spinoff either.

Sure these fanbases have lots of invested people for making couple seasons but from art and creative point i dont see point of these spinoff existence.

Caryl was only one that kept me and had most sense. Tales has interesting concept and showrunner whom eps on twd i respect but i wont be watching that any longer.

- that said i want to watch last episodes but only to find out that caryl ended up happily ever after. Even if there stupid travels to Europe and dumb side missions in between.

I just don't believe in quality and sincere love from twd creators to keep things realistic and true to characters.

- as someone said caryl belongs to fans

You all guys are amazing passionate people from all corners of the world. Without you there wouldn't be even possibility considered to continue their dynamic.

Gimple never cared much about caryl since season 6 and im not certain about Kang ( really don't know what that woman really thinks and feels regarding them) so caryl never had much chances if there weren't fans imo.

I remember before they introduced Leah, in same month AK implied that caryl can happen only on spinoff but even that under question. So maybe just maybe we really didn't lose in this.

We don't know what these bosses supposed to do with them in spinoff.

When AL left show and movies were announced Gimple couldn't stop talk how he hopes Daryl will meet Rick again. He never talked about Carol in same way as SG didn't care much about her in twdu back then but i can be wrong. He could plan to give caryl space in their spinoff just to develop them into romance and kill her later just before Daryl will find Rick. Or he just didn't see importance of Carick relationship in general. Just thoughts how things could be unfaithful in way we can't imagine but also there could be other misfortunes in way of that spinoff later during production.

- i just want caryl fans to find peace and sort of happiness even if Melissa won't ever appear as Carol in twdu.

You all deserve better. Please don't fight each other and try to forgive other fans who mistreated Melissa, Carol and our fandom for years. Their souls are shallow, fact they get something or are happy because you're unhappy doesn't mean they will be happy as this in some time in future. I don't wish bad to them i think we really need to forgive them and each other and ppl like SG and Norman more even if it's too hard. But i don't believe this twdu ship gonna be good for long sail.

Please stay healthy sane and wish good miracles to happen for everyone of you and our ship ❤️

so if yall dont know i made this post a while ago and the concept is a bit too much of a novel for me to write fr so it just. lives on mentally and brain-rottingly

so i'll give something for everyone!

jack does have a "jordie" in this; he has a brother he lost when he first came to manhattan, and that brother was kid blink <3 in the book kaz is the younger brother and that makes sense for him, but older brother jack will never leave me soul so he's blink's older brother. same stuff happens, the boys are swindled at a young age by an asshole club owner (in this au its snyder is pekka rollins >:)), are left with nothing, blink gets sick and dies :(

manhattan is obv kerch in this (each of NYC's boroughs serve as like. kerch/novi zem/ravka/etc), but manhattan was jack's "santa fe" idea so once he got there and it wasn't what he pictured he had to find a way to swindle his situation into a lifestyle he could fit himself into and rule over enough so so nothing like what happened to him as a kid could ever happen again.

(also, smaller point, but as kaz is adverse to skin/touch bc of jordie's sickness and all the gross bodies on the funeral barge, jack is extremely afraid of water, drowning, all that!)

davey is just so interesting as a character in general bc he is a leader who is not really allowed to lead, like he has the right characteristics to be a leader but jack fills that role. and the same goes for inej!! which is who i modeled davey after.

dont worry everyone! davey is brown.

jack is also brown but you'd have to be STUPID. stupid. not to know that

but yeah so inej's end goal of wanting to be a captain is something i am gonna give to davey, mostly bc he just. he aligns so much with inej like guys if you've read the book just think abt it. but it'd let him be a leader in the exact terms he desires, of the people he wants to trust and lead, and for the exact causes he believes in (which can't be said about jack.)... and also yeahhh bc jack's afraid of water so what davey wants is too much for jack but he's willing to try and conquer it bc he loves <3 him <3 :(

in this davey makes all his gear, which isn't true for inej. i think him making his own tools of destruction, especially since it takes a lot of work, is a form of penance for what he's going to use them for (kill and maim and stab!)

RACETRACK HIGGINS BEST CHARACTER. this is where like race gets his redemption arc bc i never write him

for jesper he like. he Thinks he can talk his way into things but often gets into a shenanigan. but i think race actually Can talk his way into stuff.. but can talk his way into both good stuff And bad stuff bc his vices don't stop at gambling... like i think he's more self-serving than jesper? but more to the detriment of himself than of his team. or if he thinks it could backfire on the team, he does whatever he can to make sure it bites him in the ass worse than anyone else. team player but bad at it!

charlie morris also best character. he has the strongest abilities of anyone in the group and tends to be a bit impulsive about it. he's under a contract to jack's gang, though, so he can't exactly do everything he wants... he also has a rly big heart so if someone's like. do this or someone will get hurt. boy will fold everytime and be so mad abt it LMAO

also i did some rereading recently and heartrender powers are even more hardcore than i remember so MAJOR charlie rights. can literally.. kinda bloodbend is the closest way i can describe it go charlie go!

spot conlon i am still figuring out!!! matthias is such a hard character to begin with so making someone off of him. damn bro.

but i think the sort of honorable warrior spirit that matthias has is very...grecian hero, and spot also harnesses that for me too. like he's the leader of all these boys, he's this symbol, and matthias also serves a symbol. and then matthias learns to become his own man despite the symbol, and that just sounds like the ideal character arc for spot conlon. who is the king of brooklyn when he's taken from the kingdom?

KATHERINNNNE. katherine is literally so cool in this fr, since she's pulitzer's daughter and naturally they got the van eck drama going on. similar backstory, kath also has dyslexia but instead of wylan's music route she slaaaays at mathematics. really interested in trades and building. loves a good bomb.

BUT. very much unlike wylan, she's not the youngest. she's older than all of the crows. like she's like. why are a bunch of 17 year olds the ones hired to fucking. unkidnap me. what the fuck. so kath's like 22 or so, so not as sheltered as wylan but like works on her own and has an apartment but still rides above ketterdam (ahh lower east side manhattan who would've guessed).

Kudos for keeping the plot straight and cohesive and extra kudos to the middle timeline. Non linear narratives are a clusterfuck and I will never touch them cause they scare me so I have extra respect for those who tackle them.

Thanks for writing this fic. Thanks for being amazing. And Thanks for ruining my life these past 6 months while I waited zksjsksk now that I've scratched that hugeass tlnd itch, I'll hopefully be functional again 😭

heart of a dog: i already have a oneshot up on this for ao3 but its going to be kkgai early years to pre-team7 and then a dif fic for after team7 to the ending. i am exploring youth mental illness and kakashi being a dog. this was mainly an excuse to write a slightly feral wolf kakashi

obkk pwp 1: kakashi's chakra veins get frozen fighting kiri nin while on a mission with obito, obito funnels his fire into a chakra massage to help melt the ice in kakashi, kakashi is half naked for Reasons and obito is pretty much fondling him in a sensory way.

for hoad i was googling the gender ratio for wolf litters at 3 in the morning. i don't know. what that necessarily MEANS for me... but it cannot be good.

this was to differentiate between hatake clan and inuzuka clan traits btw. for a throwaway line of topic that may not ever be used in fic, but it IS in my lore bible.

BRO— OKAY. the shatter hcs got me thinking. and at this point it's pretty obvious i live on angst. so yeah, here goes.

so i'm mostly thinking of what if lil bro does survive. because yknow, getting fucking stabbed through the chest is not something you can just walk away from, let alone without some serious physical and mental consequences. and things like that take a long time to go away, if they ever do.

So the little guy will definetely be dealing with some messed up stuff as he recovers. phantom pain, nightmares, the whole package. this wasn't any less traumatizing for him than it was for his family.

he probably keeps to himself about a lot of it because, while he knows he can and should rely on his family, he can see how much this fucked them up and doesn't want to worry them more than they already are.

(also he can probably tell after what happened they wouldn't want him to go back topside, but he doesn't want to be left behind. which could lead to a scenario where he pretends he's fine enough to go, turns out obviously he wasn't ready yet either physically or emotionally and cue the hurt/comfort but that's another deal for another day)

When it gets to the farmhouse arc, he's obviously devastated about Leo.

Everyone's worried about him, and with good reason, but they end up sort of forgetting that Lil bro is still dealing with his own aftermath, even Lil bro himself. He's still dealing with everything, and the added trauma from Leo's recent window adventures definetely doesn't help, but if he was keeping this to himself before it's ten times worse now.

He has to be okay, the others need him to be okay, in Lil bro's mind he's convinced himself he has to be strong for his big brother.

and besides, it's been so long since what happened to him, he should be fine by now.

At some point it becomes too much, and the lil guy falls with a fever from the stress, or maybe Leo finds him when he's in the middle of one of his pain flare-ups, or even a good ol' emotional breakdown.

Then, this might just be me being petty, but to hell with whoever decided to have Splinter tell his son that his pain wasn't real was a good idea, we're gonna wrap this up in a nice little bow when Leo, while still stuck in his own frustration, sees Lil bro struggling with that same mentality, and realizing that he would never be as harsh with his brother as he's being with himself (and can't stand the thought of his baby brother being as harsh with himself either), finally learns that it's okay for him to take the time he needs to heal, that recovery is hard but as long as he leans on the people that care about him he'll be okay.

i can only answer this for zenos as far as the end of stormblood, which, for zenos, feels like nothing at all... if this WAS the end, i'd have to say he didn't get enough screen time. truly. there was not enough in stormblood for me to form a strong opinion

that being said:

if they were real i would be afraid of them: this guy has MASSIVE creep by radiohead playing over his shoulder 24/7 no deodorant smells like a convention hall vibes. in modern au, he brings his katana collection to the con, gets panned at security for bringing real ass knives, and complains to his dad the governor mildly about it

not as deep as they seem: this bitch sure does say a lot to say nothing at all

not as deep as they seem: i'm using this as a reverse-they work better as part of a dynamic square. i have major beef with his story, motivations, and KEY HEEL-TURN WHICH ALTERS THE ENTIRE STORY being based around his feelings being for a woman that he shares like no memorable dialogue with. i just prefer a guy to be self-motivated, or like, if he's gonna sacrifice his life on a whim, i want him to be motivated by chemistry that happens on screen. i could rewrite gin from the ground up to be a snarling distrustful stray dog taken in off the streets by a kind but ultimately clumsy rangiku, but that'd still be doing him a disservice, because it's still a "die for het" kinda trope

wow! they are a horrible person/if they were real i would be afraid of them: still, WHAT a charmer. his whole shit in the first arc where he plays aimlessly shady red herring the whole time, standing around and looking creepy while doing ultimately nothing? INCREDIBLY funny. just like zenos, this man looks like he stands very still in dark alleyways with his head tilted at a 50 degree angle for kicks and i love that for and about him

they're deeper than they seem/wasted potential: his backstory is FUCKING tragic and it gets played for LAUGHS in gu!!! for LAUGHS!!!!! once they scrape aside all his main problems the mental illness is left to LANGUISH!!!! he could be an amazing yandere and what is he? kind of an adorable waifu. kind of braindead but drop dead gorgeous. extreme husband material but like jesus christ he gets no slack or credit past his first arc. this is kind of a running theme with GU characters!!!!

didn't get enough screen time/got too much screen time: this is another fun little confusing one, specific to me. you see, i loved endrance so much that i made him a perm fixture in my party in every single playthrough i have ever done. i love him. I LOVE HIM. however this means that despite never being on screen for anything important and not getting much time spent on his incredibly interesting backstory and delicious bod, he does get a lot of time standing around like an asshole, kind of tertiary to what's happening... this is partially on me. but i do not care. they shoulda just predicted my love for him and worked around it

wow! they are a horrible person: he loves a shitty gamer furry, then immediately forgets her for the Next Hot Thing: a stupid guy he knows nothing about, AND NEVER BOTHERS TO LEARN ANYTHING ABOUT! kind of horrible. he is so wretchedly shallow LMFAO. like the baby boy version of the anime loli who pledges her life at the drop of a hat cuz you have a pulse and seem kind of alive. and haseo definitely doesn't return his feelings, even tho i do...... he doesn't seem to notice tho LMAO good enough for him!
