i'm watching exu: calamity for the third fucking time and i am once again absolutely insane about these fucking characters. laerryn coramar-seelie and loquatius seelie. their whole fucking divorced-in-love mess. zerxus ilerez and his damn prophetic visions. babe what horrors do u dream of now? patia motherfucking por'co. her memory loss payroll. her list of .. "friends with bad memory" . that was fucking crazy to hear the first time and on the third i'm still reeling. nydas okiro, i cant even begin with him . he was a pirate. he lived what could only be a pirate's dream, the guildmaster of a dragon's hoard, a dragon whom he can summon and command at will. his friend's son lives with his brother and family. he puts people on patia's payroll, both conjoined in secrets, but that's not only it. he was described as holding spinning plates at all times. he was laerryn's partner and confidant on her life's work. cerrit agrupnin. the father who got his children out of an apocalyptic catastrophe. the father who kept his promise to be with them. by sheer luck or by fate's design, by the strength of his virtue and love and a father's promise. of all that he could not and did not keep, the one most important. he was an investigator so adept at his job that invisibility could not keep a person hidden from his sight. he had a ring to detect lies. he had a ring. to detect lies. loquatius . the fey who fell in love with a mortal. the reporter who spoke to the people at the end of their lives and his own and called for them to stay. to do their duty, keep their promise. no officials get to leave the people they're supposed to protect and speak for behind. and no one shall forget the most beautiful woman in the world, laerryn coramar-seelie. the woman who, in secret, strived to give her husband and her friends and her heart, her avalir, an option. the choice, to rise above and beyond. to seek the knowledge of realms and stars and all that they could ever achieve. a future so bright it was blinding. a goal so lofty, a dream so wistful. a path tread almost completely alone. and in that, history and mistrust. the gau drashari who expected the wizards to not keep their word, and thus created the circumstance in which the wizards did not know the importance of the tree of names and saw it only as a limitation. because that's all it appeared to be. and zerxus. the godless. champion of a deity-less divinity. oracle who saw visions of the lord of the hells. he saw the lord of the hells, hurting and injured. and in that being he saw redemption and a path to healing. he faced asmodeus and straight up said "oh you poor thing" afsgsjdkfkflflflgl he looked at a god and held nothing but pity for him upon seeing that he could not be redeemed. that there was such deep hatred. he was killed and revived over and over by this god. the god that he brought through into the world. . . the por'co legacy. patia, who in the end gifted her knowledge of everything truly Everything to a young maya agrupnin. and what of young kir and maya? celebrations and festivities, the anticipation of seeing their father. maya snuck out to a party to meet a girl and drink alcohol she doesn't even like, tailed by her brother who mirrored their father. kir, junior investigator, because of him, cerrit thankfully did not have to track down maya in panic. kir who received a message from his father to gather at their home. and then their father sent them away, to safety. 2/3rds of the world met calamity. how must it have felt to be a young child, everything you knew ending and dying. fuck man. that's not even everything i could fucking say about all of this i havent even broached the lord of the hells and the plot and the depth of patia's complexity with memory and knowledge and laerryn and loquatius and their open jabs and silent acts of devotion and love, zerxus and cerrit and their opposing and paralleled paths of fatherhood, nydas' and zerxus and cerrit. protectors. laerryn and patia. visionaries. loquatius. truth and hope and home.

Орлёнок (Eaglet) is an interactive story set in a country similar to 1910s-1920s Russia. You're a member of the overthrown Imperial Family, shaping the future of the Empire by virtue of arms.

It aims to be equal parts role-playing, dress-up and strategy game, with an emphasis on romance.

Although there will be no explicit nsfw scenes, it does include graphic descriptions of the horrors of war as well as personal tragedies, so please refer to the content warnings at the end of this post.

(as the project is still a wip, this overview is somewhat incomplete and will be gradually updated in tandem with the progress of writing)

The Empire of Nevetskiya - old, proud, and utterly dilapidated. While the Industrial Revolution has enabled other Monarchies - after a few quickly suppressed workers' uprisings - to become modern colonialist superpowers, exerting their influence all over the world, Nevetskiya is still overwhelmingly agrarian, and barely holding onto its outlying territories acquired in golden times long past.

Your Father Emperor, while ruling with an iron fist and unquestionable authority over the common people, is completely dependent on the shaky loyalty of the High Nobility, who frustrate any attempt to modernize the economy or administration, out of fear upstart merchants might, in time, replace the old Aristocracy.

When a sloppily executed coup d'etat eventually leaves your family dead and you a refugee, it becomes time you grab the reins of your destiny and amass an army to liberate and rebuild the country in the way you envision.

Their work is a mystery to seemingly everyone, but they always get results: as long as you let them act freely, no enemy agent has any chance to harm you or your cause.

★ Semyon Ivanovich Orlov / Selena Ivanovna Orlova ★

The Cavalry Officer (gender-selectable)

One of your four original companions. A war hero and renowned expert when it comes to horses, the only reason they were not yet promoted to a lofty position in the War Ministry is their pragmatic approach to new developments, which hasn't mixed well with the typically very traditionalist views of the old Imperial officer corps.

Possessing a subdued but strong charisma and deeply respected by their soldiers as a wise parent figure, they are a solid pillar of support to you, and will reliably get things done - though some people might consider the cost for that too high sometimes.

★ Mikhail Pavlovich Voronin / Marina Pavlovna Voronina ★

The Young Visionary (gender-selectable)

One of your four original companions. They shot up through the ranks by impressing the War Ministry with bold new ideas for utilizing modern technologies and are hailed as a genius by many - though the older officers dismiss them as a dreamer at best and incompetent fool at worst.

With you, they hope to have found someone who'll appreciate their visions for the future - plus, their relative eccentrism has left them in dire need of a friend.

Their technical expertise might just prove to be the key to your success - if you can secure the foreign support needed to get the modern equipment needed to utilize it.

The Noble Academic (gender-selectable)

One of your four original companions. Born to wealthy nobles, they graduated the Imperial Officer Academy with perfect grades, and feel honour-bound to your family.

They were the one to gather your initial force of loyalists and act as your primary advisor. But their loyalty is to the Imperial system, with you just a symbolic representative - can you convince them that you and your vision deserve their loyalty beyond that?

★ 'Little' Semyon/Selena Shvets ★

The Hero (gender-selectable)

A young cavalry officer and leader of your Southern Forces. A protegé of the "other" Semyon/Selena, they lack their cynical pragmatism, but make up for it with a firm belief in the triumph of a better world.

Some may call their optimism naive, and their personality has been mockingly compared to a Golden Retriever, but they have proven time and time again that underestimating them on the battlefield results in a crushing defeat.

Age: early 20s

★ Nikola ★

The Rebel (nb)

Leading an anti-authoritarian peasant uprising in the West, Nikola is more likely to be your enemy than your ally - but they don't seem to care enough about politics to refrain from flirting with you, so... there might be a basis of mutual understanding there?

Their personality is pretty sweet, at least - if you ignore the fact they'll cheerfully gun down prisoners if they feel like it.

Age: mid-20s

★ Rakhmil/Rakhilya Feldman ★

The Logistician (gender-selectable)

A member of the Western Rebel Army and best friend of Nikola's adoptive sibling, they've poured their soul (and countless nights without any sleep) into somehow maintaining the rebels' supply network in the face of their rapidly swelling numbers.

Unhappy with Nikola's carefree attitude, they might end up aligning with you instead in order to save their cause.

Age: late 20s

★ Arseniy Matveyevich Lebedev / Rozaliya Matveyevna Lebedeva ★

The Enemy (gender-selectable)

Grand Duke Lebedev, the main leader of the Aristocrat faction, stood by and watched when your family was executed. Arseniy/Rozaliya is their younger sibling, and serves as military commander of his personal forces that aid several warlords in their efforts to establish their own petty kingdoms.

But they're already uncomfortable with their brother's methods, and if you can convince them that you're not actually "an incompetent little puppet who's trying to ruin the country out of arrogant delusions", they might become a very valuable ally.

Age: mid-20s

★ Lyudmila Demyanovna Naumova ★ (f)

A minor noble who reluctantly turned into a Warlord in order to protect her territory and her people. All she wants is peace - but she'll not hesitate to fight if she believes it necessary.

Unfortunately, you can't just ignore her - all must choose a side in this war - but you have options how to deal with her. Will you subdue her by force? Or fall back on the age-old option of political marriage to secure an alliance?

Age: late 20s

★ Jan/Jana Novotný ★ (gender-selectable, under certain circumstances)

A member of your Personal Guard who has distinguished themself and eventually rises to become its commander. Others might betray or doubt you, but Novotný only cares about one thing - your continued, unharmed existence.

And they will go to any lengths to guarantee it.

He was supposed to be a personal friend of your Father Emperor - and, indeed, never seemed to act against him, even if it would've been in his interest - but when your father was led to the gallows, the Grand Duke stood by and watched, a faint smile on his face.

Now, he is directly supporting your rivals - but still, he is a very powerful man who claims to have only the country's best interests at heart, so is he really an enemy to be defeated? Or rather just a temporary opponent, whose support you should work to gain?

Age: early 40s

★ Sergei Razko ('Orlik') ★

The aged leader of your forces in the East. Affectionally called "Eagle" by his volunteer troop, he's like a Father to you - a role your actual father either never attempted to fulfill, or failed spectacularly at.

Age: mid-50s

★ Pawel Dąbrowski ★

The leader of your forces in the West. A line officer you've met before - his excellent performance has led to him being personally decorated by your Father Emperor.

And your younger sibling had a crush on him back then...

Age: late 20s

★ Katariina 'Riina' Velkonnen ★

The leader of your forces in the North. A woman who seems to be made of steel; her troops are the epitome of discipline, and they kill with a cold fury that's only held in check by their low numbers, courtesy of the North's sparse population.

★ Ilya Chervanov / Elena Chervanova ★

Nikola's adoptive sibling and Rakhmil/Rakhilya's best friend. After being forced to watch from their hiding spot as your Father Emperor's secret police tortured and killed their parents for suspected dissidence, they now fight desperately for a world without feudal oppression - though the methods they apparently have to employ to achieve that break their heart over and over again.

Age: early 20s

★ Grigoriy Antonovich Stepanov ★

A staff officer of your army who always agrees with what you say - and actually manages to defend these opinions quite eloquently.

Surely, that's a valuable talent - but can you really trust someone who never seems to have a stance of his own?

★ Fyodor Gerasimovich Melnik ★

One of your direct rivals, a minor noble and Warlord who proves extremely hard to get rid of. His continued ability to raise new forces after each defeat is nothing short of a miracle considering his general reputation of being incompetent, choleric, arrogant, corrupt, and just generally a waste of a human being.

Then again, he is quite rich, so maybe it's not that much of a miracle at all - mercenaries have flooded into the country as soon as the Civil War began, and form a large manpower reserve for figures like him - though of questionable quality.

Ascending the tower and gazing upon the ruins of the kingdom, upon the poisoned corpse of the sun. Once, long ago, Captain Min dared to stand in the audience of the Azure, dared to challenge his opinion on the uselessness of mortals. He laughed them off, humoring them enough to let them escape with their life, never imagining this prideful little poet could ever pose more of a threat than a fly. They swore in that moment to overthrow the lord of the dead, and now. Now, here we are. The Captain, known for being stoic and unflappable, standing before the liberation with a wild smile on their face, hair ringed with cobwebs, a peal of laughter filling the empty corner of space. Crossing the bridge and mounting the throne. Their throne. Declaring an end to the law. They will be no regent, and they will have no royal name, just like their closest ally, the Halved.

(I gotta write a full fic for this) (And also Cap is tiny, like we're talking barely past 5 foot, so the mental image of them on this ginormous throne has me laughing through my shock)

And that was so much different too and really gives Toothless so much depth as a character, because at that point so much had happened to Toothless to want that apology fit himself, but still, to Toothless Hiccup was more important than anything else, and he was only gonna give him back to his father if he knew he’d be safe AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

the last htp chapter was an absolute rollercoaster of emotions. i just finished reading it (1am currently) and i will be up for a minimum of 30 minutes thinking about it before i’m able to force myself to go to sleep. i was (figuratively) on the edge of my seat during the entire fight scene, so scared that they would manage to take tango back to hels. even though bravo ended up back there, good for him that he’s finally breaking free of atlas and doing his own thing! i also freaking love the line at the end, about how if bravo couldn’t have the sun, he’d learn to love its shadow instead. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa it’s so good!! thank you as always for writing this, and i can’t wait for the next installment :D

if you don’t mind entertaining a quick question: the longer bravo was in hels, the more he acted like hels players, and vice versa with tango (as far as we can tell). therefore, how much of hels players being terrible people is a nature thing, and how much is genuinely a nurture/environment thing? i know bravo was relieved that at a code level he was different from the hels players, but in my mind there’s definitely an element of “we make each other worse” throughout hels. do you know how much of an influence nature vs nurture has for this? no obligation to answer of course, thank you for reading my ramblings!

and that is the question, isn’t it? i’ll just say that it’s important to keep in mind that each character is only working with the information they have, and how they interpret it. no character’s pov is without its own bias, and no narrator is 100% reliable.

The cake was probably blue and purple at one point. You say probably because it’s entirely smashed now. Possibly the blue part of the icing spelled something? All you can make out now is a ‘BI’ and ‘TH’. There is also a paw print in it, though which cat left it is a mystery.

“I’m not eating this,” you inform Killer flatly.

“oh good, means more for me!”

He digs in WITH HIS HANDS immediately and you can only watch in dismay as almost half the cake disappears into his mouth in an instant. You’re pretty sure he didn’t even manifest a tongue to taste it. Just swallowed it whole, probably for The Bit.

You’d ask whatever The Bit is this time but as soon as you open your mouth one of his frosting coated phalanges is stuffed in. Hmm, blue raspberry.

“now aren’t you disappointed you’re missing out on such a great birthday cake?” he asks smugly.

You didn’t want to admit the cake tastes great of course, because you’re still trying to imagine just what kind of hell it had been through before ending up in your mouth. So instead you look Killer dead in his dripping eye sockets, scoop up a finger full of frosting, and smear it across his forehead.

Later, hours after the frosting war that followed, you’d find splattered bits of cake even on your ceiling.

Yup!! I call him Batsu!Omori. The name of the au's "Tsumi to Batsu"(which is "Sin and Punishment" in Japanese hehehehe), so I just use the "Batsu" half to refer to that au's characters.

Long story short, the au's premise is that after the events of the game and its good ending(just the good ending. not the secret ending. ehe.), Headspace not only still exists, but it's also caught up to reality's time, so 4 years passed by there! And it's up to both Sunny and a now older Omori to figure out why, and uncover any leftover hidden mysteries that still lie within Headspace...It's all being written in a fanfic I've posted what's basically a prelude arc for. I'm still writing up everything that happens, ehe..

As for Omori himself, what's going on with him is that Final Duet basically gave him a reality check. And it got him to realize that uh. What he was doing(*cough*forcing Sunny into unhealthy amounts of escapism*cough*) was actually pretty bad. And he regrets it. So now he's a lot more pathetic and sad hehehehe

Wardens are completely blind and rely on vibrations, smell, and touch to detect players and mobs to attack.

When isolated out in the Nether’s wilds, Shadow knights will eventually revert to a type of monster called a hunter for their own protection. The Hunter, the nether’s species of Warden, has a different name as despite having some similarities like their lack of sight, hostility towards other living beings, and abnormal strength, they’re different in more important ways. Hunters tend to retain quite a few human features, actively seek out prey, and can decipher sources of noises. Where a warden attacks sound indiscriminately, a hunter would be able to recognize the difference between not just a human and an animal, but individual humans. A hunter will exclusively protect themself and will not enter fights it has a risk of losing, whereas a warden exclusively protects their city. A hunter shriek stuns prey rather than injuring it, and they use a multitude of different attacks instead of simply hitting things.

Laurence ends up stranded in the wilds after being separated from his rebellion during an ambush and the natural behaviors of a hunter combined with his rage towards Shad’s men for slaughtering his soldiers results in one of the worst cases of a hunter the Nether has ever had. Not only is Laurence going out of his way to hunt and kill other shadow knights, but he’s doing so without Gene or Shad knowing. They have no record that Laurence’s body wasn’t recovered after the ambush, they have no idea that a hunter is what’s slaughtering the knights they’re finding dead.

The amount of fandoms I've seen COMPLETELY rewrite a character to make their ship make sense or simply because they just DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW TO WRITE A CHARACTER is extremely frustrating

And I get it, when writing a lot of people are still learning and maybe years down the line they'll look back and he like "why the fuck did I use to write them like that that is NOT that character", and I've done this plenty

But it doesn't lessen the blow oh my God

He's not got a lot of information around him, and a big part of his comeuppance was inspireddrawaw's work on him before turning him into their own OC

So it's safe to say there's not a lot that we can base him off of, so I'm really shooting myself in the foot here, but they truly and utterly just don't understand him like I do
