Love is secretly studying up on the nerd shit he’s into.

It’s not often that they all make their way to Indianapolis. It’s no Chicago and getting everyone together to make a big trip of it is getting harder and harder every month. But Will’s birthday falls in line with the grand opening of a new collectibles store that promises shiny new dice and rare items among their comics and board game memorabilia. How could anyone deny his pleading eyes to make it a part of his birthday celebration: to go see the store and find a place to eat, a day trip that’s on the simpler side.
Eddie’s just as excited as the boys are, but he’s more surprised to find Steve is practically vibrating out of his skin with how eager he is to get to the store. He’s just not showing it in the same way the others are. It’s all vibrant eyes and small smiles, bouncing knees and one too many questions.
Eddie’s still trying to figure out what he’s excited about.
Over the last year, Eddie’s learned how to read Steve Harrington. The man may think he keeps an even, cool composure about everything, but Eddie’s an expert in the minor details to figure out how Steve really feels. When he talks to Hopper about some sports thing, his hands will have a small tremor and he stumbles over his words sometimes, always playing it off as some headache or not getting enough sleep if you point it out. Eddie knows better, he knows Steve gets so excited that he can’t contain it and is embarrassed at how eager he is to share it, about his interests all together.
The kids don’t help, he knows. Outside of Lucas, the others just tease him for being a meathead jock or some other bullshit insult – pulling the same shit they get bullied with, the same shit Eddie encouraged. He’s trying to get them to see how fucked up it is, but it’s a work in progress.
They’re driving separately so Eddie doesn’t get to watch Steve’s excitement build other than the glimpses he gets in his rearview mirror of Steve, Robin, and the girls singing along to whatever mundane Top 40 shit they’re blasting. He’d listen to the shitty music with Steve over Dustin and Mike arguing over D&D editions any day, though. At least he can control the volume of the music…
“I’m this close,” Eddie holds up his pinched fingers, “to leaving you on the side of the road,” he tells them.
Dustin rolls his eyes. “Steve wouldn’t let you.”
“I think I can convince him,” Eddie says with a smirk. Only Robin knows about their relationship, even now after it’s been a year, but that doesn’t mean the kids don’t know they’re close. They know they’re inseparable and good friends. Just not… naked in bed, touchy-feely ‘friends,’ ya know?  “We’re nearly at the store. Can you at least pause the screaming match until you have the editions in front of you for proper comparison?”
That buys Eddie a few minutes of just his music as the boys have a more reasonable discussion to figure out how to split their small funds to maximize their haul. They may be turning sixteen this year, but they’re not exactly loaded. It’s the same shit he and the guys used to pull, and sometimes… still do. It’s nice seeing them like actual kids for a little while longer.
But he’s still happy to climb out of his van and meet back up with Steve and the gang.
He slings an arm over Steve’s shoulders, feels how keyed up he is and how his muscles are tense despite the relaxed looking posture. “Are you mortals ready to blow your minds?” Eddie asks, voice rumbly as he leans in to stare at the girls.
Max rolls her eyes as Erica levels him with a stare of her own.
“Let’s go already!” Dustin calls back as the guys are already booking it toward the store.
Nancy and Jonathan have only just pulled up as the group passes. Robin, Jane, and Max wait for them, happy to hang back from this particular stop on their day. Or maybe they’re scheming about Will’s surprise that the rest of them have been left in the dark about.
Either way, Eddie doesn’t drop his arm from Steve’s shoulders until they reach the door.
The store’s packed with nerds of all ages, shuffling here and there as they browse the small space. It’s like nerd paradise, with walls of collectibles and big crates of comics and books, and big displays of art and promotions everywhere. It even has that musty book smell he loves so much!
Eddie squeezes Steve’s shoulder before he completely drops his arm. “Permission to go feral?”
Steve rolls his eyes, but shoves Eddie lightly. “Go. Have fun,” he says.
“You could always follow me, you know. Don’t want you getting lost,” Eddie says, getting back into Steve’s space even as his eyes flickered around the space.
“I’ll come find you, okay?” Steve says, then he walks away with his hands in his pockets like he’s just strolling through the store. But Eddie can see the sharp way his eyes are searching the space, hunting for something. It’s enough to have Eddie trailing behind him, eager to figure out this mystery.
Okay so Eddie gets briefly distracted by a wall of dragon figurines, but he manages to pull himself away when he sees the price tags are dangerously close to having commas. He stumbles his way around, only getting swept into conversation with Will once about the variety of figures they have and able to dodge Dustin’s badgering about the new Justice League comic.
He finds Steve hunched over a glass case that’s near the cash register, at the far end where people aren’t huddled around looking at trading cards or the pricer collectibles. Eddie tucks himself partially behind a bookshelf so he can see Steve from the side. He watches as Steve’s eyes squint and he squats lower to look at the case from a new perspective. It takes a lot of effort to not let his own eyes wander to how his ass puts his Levi’s to the test, but Eddie’s stronger than that (sort of).
And because of that strength, Eddie gets the rare experience of seeing Steve’s eyes light up as his jaw drops. He looks… in awe of whatever he’s found, like someone just showed him the Holy Grail.
Eddie can’t help himself as he walks over. Steve’s so entranced, he doesn’t even notice. For a split second, Eddie feels that familiar panic creep up his throat before he hears a soft “holy shit,” from Steve.
On this side of the case are… sports cards. Trading cards of different sports people in various conditions, some are in little wrappers, some in packs, and others loose in the glass display case. Huh. Go figure.
He’s kind of surprised, if Eddie’s honest with himself, he never would have taken Steve for a collector of any kind, much less trading cards. But here he is, so amazed at whatever he’s found that he still hasn’t noticed Eddie’s presence.
Eddie squats down beside him, knees popping with the movement, and rests his forehead on the glass. “Which one is it?”
Steve curses under his breath as he jumps, snapping out of it. “Jesus, Eds,” he says, standing up.
“Sorry,” Eddie says with a grin. “Seriously, though. Which is it?”
His face is red and he looks almost ashamed to be caught staring at the cards. “Find anything cool yet?” Steve asks, shoving his hands into his pockets.
Eddie frowns. “Steve…”
Steve just shakes his head and turns his back on the glass. “Looks like Lucas found something,” he says with a forced laugh as he points to where Lucas is struggling to carry a few different boxes of figurines as he searches for the others in the busy store.
“And so did you,” Eddie says softly as he stands beside him, shoulders touching. “Trading cards, huh?”
He just shrugs.
“I think it’s pretty cool,” Eddie says. “I don’t know anything about them but,” he glances back at the rows and rows of cards, some with tiny words and charts, “those stats have to mean something. And you know how I am about stats, Stevie.”
Steve rolls his eyes. “They’re player stats, Eddie. It’s from their games and shit.” He sighs. “You don’t… don’t have to pretend it’s cool, man. Just sports shit, right?”
“Hey,” Eddie says, a little more forceful, “I don’t mind sports shit, remember? We had fun watching that basketball game the other day.”
“You were just being nice,” Steve says.
“No,” Eddie counters, “I was a little confused on the language and how it works, but I love seeing you get passionate about something you love, Steve. Even if it means seeing how angry you get at whatever the refs are saying.”
Steve’s face darkens as he grumbles out, “It was a shit call.” He hasn’t been able to let it go since they watched it.
“C’mon,” Eddie says, turning back to the case, “will you just show me which one you like?”
“It’s not necessarily about liking them,” Steve starts, turning as well, “but the players themselves.”
Eddie hums. “So which player did you find?”
“Nolan Ryan,” Steve breathes out, pointing at the card, “he’s a pitcher for the Astros and that,” he lets out a whistle, “is a rare 1985 Tiffany.”
“What makes it rare?” Eddie asks.
Steve waves him off. “Don’t worry about that–”
“No,” Eddie insists. “I told you, in detail, about my Lord of the Rings theories and you listened to every word. Let me hear about your Tiffany card.”
“It’s not mine,” Steve reminds him.
Eddie nudges his shoulder. “Steve.”
Steve lets out a breath and runs a hand through his hair. “Okay, so the cards are printed here, right? Like it’s one of their things? But the Tiffany cards aren’t, they’re printed in Ireland. And you see how that one is a little brighter than the one next to it?” He doesn’t wait for Eddie’s response. “They printed the Tiffany sets on white cardboard instead of gray. And they only made a limited run of the sets, right? So to just… find one,” he says, voice soft and light, “and Nolan Ryan’s card at that?” He whistles. “Kind of a big deal.”
“So you’re getting it, right?”
Steve shrugs again. “Maybe I’ll drive up later for it. I don’t want to deal with the kids–”
“We’ll put it in my bag. I haven’t even really started to look, but you know I’m emptying my wallet in here, right?” Eddie says, smiling.
“Why haven’t you looked?” Steve asks, brow furrowing. “We’ve been here for twenty minutes, Eds, what have you been doing?”
Eddie feels his face soften as he tilts his head and plays with a strand of his hair. “There’s this guy I’ve got a thing for,” he whispers, “and he was really excited to come to some nerd store, but wouldn’t tell me why. So I had to figure it out myself.”
Steve’s blushing again as he looks away. “C’mon,” he says, grabbing Eddie by the elbow, “show me what you want to look at.”
He allows Steve to change the subject and does look for himself, but he doesn’t forget the wistful look in Steve’s eyes when they end up by the case again for check-out.
“Hey,” Eddie says, mostly to Nancy and Robin who have joined them in line, “should we send some of us down to the restaurant?”
Nancy looks at her watch, then at the line. “Yes, that’s not a bad idea.”
Steve nods and hands Eddie some cash. “Just in case the kids need help. Nance, Rob and I’ll go check in at the restaurant. See you there?”
Eddie lets the three of them walk out the door before he steps out of the line. Sure, he’ll lose his place, but it’s worth it.
“Excuse me,” Eddie says to an employee behind the counter, “I need to get this card.”
The guy knows his shit, so while the line dwindles, Eddie takes the opportunity to ask some questions. He even gets a few more card packs from the newest run, card holders and sleeves to put them in, and a booklet that explains the set. There’s even a book on the history of the game that the cashier suggests; Eddie doesn’t hesitate to buy it all. Sure, he had to put away a few figures and the new dice set he found, but it’s worth it.
He hides all of his new goods in with his other nerdy shit and carefully puts his bag in the glove box so it doesn’t get mixed up with the kids’ bags. “You guys ready?” Eddie asks, arms draped over Mike and Will’s shoulders.
As they walk to the restaurant for the next stop in their plans, Eddie listens to the kids share about their hauls and what they want to come back for. It all goes in one ear and out the other, too busy mulling over the information he learned from the cashier. He’s kind of surprised by how excited he is to read the materials he bought, but he really can’t wait to give Steve the card.
Now if he can just get Steve to admit he’s a nerd, too, it’d be icing on the cake.

STEVE 👏 HARRINGTON 👏 WAS 👏 NOT 👏 A 👏 BULLY. 👏
Steve Harrington was a mean girl who kept to himself along with Tommy and Carol, but a bully is a stretch. That one scene where he breaks Jonathan's camera was justified. He did that to protect Nancy. He didn't stop Tommy and Carol from spray painting those things on the theater, but he didn't do it either, mostly because he was upset. Those things he said to Jonathan were said in the heat of the moment (every teenager says shitty things in the heat of the moment). Before the theater, if you go back and actually watch the show, Steve always stops Tommy from going too far when he says something shitty. They never showed him going out of his way to mess with people or throwing them against lockers, but they did show him sitting away from people at the cafeteria. He was well known, but he had a total of two friends. And if you're thinking he's a bully because he said Jonathan hanging up those posters was depressing. . . That was a truthful commentary that Steve was being sympathetic towards. If anyone was a bully (and don't get me wrong, I love him), it was Eddie who stood on top of table tops to mock people's interests and it didn't matter that the article was insulting his own interest. And yeah, Jason is also a bully, but I'm talking about the entire sports he went after, science, band, etc. Everyone in the cafeteria was just eating their lunch. Yeah, he was right about forced conformity, but he ended up doing that when Lucas wanted to play basketball. He had no control over canceling the championship game. Eddie had control in that situation, but he chose not to post pone because it was D&D or nothing with him. I'm glad he realized later that it wasn't basketball that was the problem but some of the people on it who were, but I do wish I could have seen Eddie apologize to Lucas. Eddie was more of a bully than Steve ever was. He never even spoke to Jonathan, and by the way, if him not knowing everyone in the goddamn school makes Steve a bully than by God, everyone is a bully. No one actually knows everyone, and I think that was an unfair weight to put on his shoulders. Steve owned up to the theater thing, apologized, and then risked his life. He has nothing to apologize for anymore. He shouldn't have bought Jonathan a new camera because it was Jonathan who needed to apologize for taking those photos in the first place. I just wish everyone would stop calling Steve a bully or making him apologize. It's getting fucking annoying. You know who still needs to apologize: Eddie and Jonathan! I say this as someone who likes their character. Yes, Jonathan apologized to Nancy, but then he took it back when he argued with her in the woods. So, he still needs to make a proper one with Nancy and Steve.

first off i just wanna say im loving everything youve written for ppls requests! how do u feel abt jock el? i feel like she maybe wouldnt understand sports at first and might struggle w the rules and fair play, but ends up really loving physical activity that has nothing to do w her powers, just her own hard work and sweat and skills she’s honed through practice all by herself, and the experience of being on a team. i can totally imagine her getting super competitive too, and being a super aggressive player in literally every sport. also, hopper is definitely the parent who yells at the referee and coaches during his kids games.
also i hope your day is going well whenever you see this!
Okay this was cuuuuuute. I really love the idea of El fitting in so well with sports people, but still never leaving her little group of nerds and badasses. I also love her just naturally being so good at every sport she tries because she is deeply in touch with what her body is capable of because of her powers, but never once using them. I maybe threw Wayne in a bit more than anyone would expect because I will always find a reason to do that. Also, this is a weird coincidence, but the Olympic swim trials for 2024 will take place in Indianapolis.- Mickala ❤️
-------------------------------------------------------
When things settle down, El goes back to school with everyone.
It’s hard at first. She never really fit in before, and she definitely doesn’t fit in now that people have seen official government security pretty much standing guard over her.
Even after they left, people still whispered when she ran errands with Joyce or Hop and went out with the rest of the party.
But she was determined to have as normal a life as she could, and that meant going to school.
High school here was better, even with the weird looks and silent bullies.
She had her friends.
She also had gym.
In California, she’d hated gym. She didn’t like getting dressed in front of everyone so she always got in trouble for taking too long. The girls in her class usually found ways to be lazy and she didn’t want to make herself more of an outcast, so she just didn’t participate most of the time.
But here, Lucas was in her gym class. So was Will, though he was a little hopeless when it came to anything beyond walking the mile.
Max was excused from gym for the rest of high school if she wanted.
Hard to argue with a letter from the literal President.
Mike and Dustin had a different period, but that was fine since they hated gym.
El didn’t hesitate to participate here.
She ran the fastest mile, always had the most push ups and pull ups, won every tetherball game. Her team always won volleyball and softball. She won every category in swimming.
The only sport she didn’t play was basketball, much to Steve’s disappointment and Lucas’ secret delight.
The coach recruited her for every sport he could, insisted that she could be the type of player that brings them championship wins.
Hopper was ecstatic, of course, especially when he saw how much El loved it.
She knew better than to use any powers, especially in competitions, but she was so naturally good, it didn’t even cross her mind that she could.
She was physically stronger than most other girls her age, and had already had so much done to her body that she could easily push through a little exhaustion during the 500 meter butterfly race or playing the entire soccer game with only one break.
She watched baseball games with Wayne and Hopper, asked if she could play.
Hopper had her signed up for softball the next day.
She saw a beach volleyball match during the Olympics and asked to play.
Hopper took her to tryouts for the school team as soon as he possibly could.
She made the swim team, made captain within a month. Steve was ecstatic, especially when she won against him every time they did a practice race. Eddie and Will were judges, and El was pretty sure it was just to see Steve shirtless, but she didn’t really mind.
She was having fun.
She was using her natural abilities to get out some of her aggression in a safe way according to Dustin.
Everyone came to her games and meets, but no one was as loud as her dad.
He was on his feet more than he was in his seat, usually pacing and yelling at refs and judges from the stands. Most people didn’t seem to care, or at least didn’t want to say anything to the reinstated police chief.
Steve was always there to remind him that El was learning, and that that was actually a penalty or that the judge was being fair on her tie with another girl in the butterfly.
Even as good as she was at just about every sport she tried, she struggled with some rules. Once they were explained in a way she understood, she was careful, but it cost her volleyball team a win in the process.
Steve helped her understand what he could, or took her to the library to look things up if he didn’t know. Wayne helped her understand the differences between softball and baseball while Eddie tried to take notes in the corner.
Actual notes.
“It’s so I know if she does good!” He explained when Wayne raised his brow at him showing interest in a sport.
To his credit, he immediately lost the notes he took and still had to ask Steve a bunch of questions at her next game.
She earned the MVP awards for every sport she played, gaining more positive attention than she’d expected. It was welcome, especially since it made a lot of people forget about the negative attention surrounding her the last few years.
Will designed shirts for everyone for her games and had Eddie get them printed at the same place he got the Hellfire Club ones made. They all wore them happily, too proud of her to not show all their support.
——————
Her senior year was when it hit that she had decisions to make.
She’d done fine in school; not straight A’s but never failed a class.
Sports are where she excelled.
But senior year was hard, and schedules were difficult enough without having to balance two sports at once immediately followed by two more.
The coaches did their best to offer accommodations since she was their star, but she didn’t like that. She didn’t want to be treated as “other.” That wasn’t why she did this.
So she dropped softball, much to Wayne’s heartbreak. He still smiled at her and said he was proud of everything she’d accomplished and hoped she’d still find time to come throw the ball with him.
She dropped volleyball in the spring, used the excuse that she needed to focus on swimming because she had scouts interested in giving her scholarships and the Olympic committee showed interest in recruiting her for Team USA.
Steve let her use his pool for extra practice, and usually joined her on the weekends for a morning swim, even on the still too cold mornings in February and March.
She held the Hawkins High and Indiana state records in most categories, and Midwest and National records in a few of those.
The olympic committee invited her to trials, and of course she’d enlisted Steve as her personal coach.
She trained for hours every day, Steve pushed her just enough using his new knowledge of the requirements she would have to meet to make the team and her competition.
She didn’t want everyone there, only Steve and Hopper.
She was worried having them there would put too much pressure on her and now wasn’t the time to perform poorly.
The morning of the trials, Steve let her cuddle up to his side on the couch.
“You’re ready.”
“That is not a question.”
“No, because I’m not asking. I know you’re ready,” he smiled when she rolled her eyes.
“I am ready.”
She was.
She outdid herself, actually. She ended up breaking her own record in her first event, and tied her own record in the second event.
She not only made the team, but was named captain almost immediately, the rest of her teammates incredibly excited to be on her team.
Hawkins had a parade for her, Hawkins High had a pep rally, the family had a huge party for her.
She still had to graduate high school, still competed on the high school swim team, even found time to be a lifeguard at the city pool every Friday and Saturday afternoon.
El had found her place.
—------------------------------
When USA won gold in every event for swimming, no one was surprised.
It’s hard to beat a team led by El.
She accepted a full ride scholarship to Purdue University, where she broke all their school records and got her degree in Physical Therapy so that she could work with athletes.
She competed in the Olympics again, winning gold in four events, silver in one.
But she always had her family there. They came from all over the country to watch, to support, wearing the same shirts that Will made years ago.

EVERYONE!!!! I found an old draft of this series and I'm tempted to start uploading it so lmk if the premise sounds nice because I had already written a few chapters: (also heads up I'm not American so idk if I got this right also it barely has any angst in it)
Vincenzo cast but all in high school!
The gist:
Vincenzo, Paulo, Cha Young and Han Seok are all seniors (year 11)Luca is a sophomore (year 10 I think) and Han Seo and Mi-Ri are freshmans. Miss Choi and Mr Han and the others are all either parents or teachees
Ofc there's other characters but they all get along with each other except for Vincenzo and Paulo, who try to one up eachother all the time, Han Seok isn't as close of a friend to Vincenzo compared to the others but they're pretty alright. Han Seok adores his embarrassing brother and Luca is friends with everyone. Cha Young and Vincenzo have something brewing between them and Paulo likes Cha Young even though he never has a chance.
Their personalities/life:
Han Seo is a theatre kid who is usually in charge of organising the events. He doesn't get on with his step mom but he likes his dad and brother. He's very shy but becomes best friends with anyone who makes an effort with him, which isn't really anyone outside of the theatre club since they're all branded as losers. He likes baking, knitting, learning new languages and going on runs. He excells in most subjects except for Literature. He's diagnosed as autistic and has ADHD and social anxiety.
Mi-Ri is in the theatre club and is in charge of the piano but occasionally plays the role of a ghost if she's feeling bothered. She's confrontational and one of the oldest girls in her year so she's typically not messed with. She sticks up for the kids her age who are being bullied, which is how she met Han Seo. She likes playing the piano, learning new languages, singing and volunteering.
Luca is in the theatre club as an actor. He's really good at singing but way too shy to do much. He used to get picked on for being a foreigner but once Vincenzo showed everyone what would happen to those who messed with Luca, nobody dared to do anything. He's still from a mafia family but he keeps that a secret. He likes going to the gym, singing, acting, eating whatever Han Seo has baked and archery.
Han Seok despises Han Seo's birth mother but never blamed Han Seo for her mistake. He's popular and in a lot of sports clubs, constantly in 2nd place to Vincenzo. Girls adore him and everyone wants to be his friend although he's highly selective with who can actually be his friend. He's confident, handsome and charming. He gets on with his mother and brother but not his father, who he never forgave for his infidelity. He's also not a psychopath! He knows his father doesn't really love his sons that much but he protects Han Seo from the truth by telling made up stories of the nice things he overheard their father say about Han Seo on the phone, gifting Han Seo presents on his birthday and pretending they're from his father etc because he knows Han Seo was so excited to have a dad when he joined their household. Everyone who's ever met Han Seok knows he adores his baby bro even if he pretends to be embarrassed or annoyed by him. He enjoys trying to beat Vincenzo at anything, hunting, archery, pining after Cha Young and making girls blush.
Vincenzo moved to Korea during sophomore (year 10) year with his cousin Luca, who he adores, and his little brother Paulo, who he hates because he never really accepted having an older adopted brother. He was ecstatic when they moved because he was no longer the odd one out. He's also from a mafia family and keeps it a secret, although he did recently connect with his birth mother who he forgave after learning the true story. Hes the best in the school at every subject, he's popular and well respected by basically everyone. After Luca became friends with Han Seo and Mi-Ri, he took on the role of parenting them alongside Han Seok and Cha Young, who he's slowly started falling in love with. He likes reading, sports, going to the gym, playing poker and learning.
Cha Young lives with her father but is currently going through a phase where she hates him. She's pretty and enjoys the attention she gets from boys although has her heart set on Vincenzo. She's not well liked by the girls because she sticks up for herself and isn't a pick me. She knows Han Seok likes her but doesn't really like him back. She likes picking fights, drinking, skipping school and teasing boys.
So in conclusions, my usual peeps of @minialienhuman @seerya @aerith-azalea @56707 @helianthus21 would you wanna read a series of one shots of this cast?

Hi! I'm so happy I found your blog because fandom ideas about Steve being a bully are sooo weird. Like not once he is actually shown bullying anyone. He is a dick in the first season but like.. a very tame dick and only to people who actively antagonize him. So he like... doesn't really like Barb, but a) he doesn't act on it b) the feeling is mutual. Barb is throwing a jealousy fit the whole time she is present in season 1 and actively dislikes Steve. It's fine. It's a very teenager thing to do and not every conflict is bullying. Not even his interaction with Jonathan is bullying, because again not every conflict is bullying. They are fighting and for a very serious reason and Steve is in the right (his actions are shitty though). I've read so many fanfics where Steve is like on his knees BEGGING Robin and Eddie for forgiveness (and they act like total dicks to him and it's all fine because he was mean three years ago), when in canon it's clear that Robin was jealous of Steve (and actually I can argue that by the time they went looking for the russians Steve and Robin were friends already), and Eddie straight up said "never talked to you before, assumed that you are an asshole, but you are actually good, what a nice surprise". And the music!!! The only song that Steve listens to in canon is "Hammer to fall" which is a protest song by Queen. Why do people think that he listens to sweetly pop music? He probably likes the Smiths or something. "Heaven knows I'm miserable now" is basically Steve and Robin's anthem
Aww thank you! Yeah, Steve is a dick in that he's like... a normal teenager, I think. Everything is a huge deal and everyone is very self-absorbed in high school. The way Robin describes him in season three is annoying for sure, but not exactly malicious. Asking stupid questions in class isn't evil.
(I will say, I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't like Barb lol like, let your bestie get laid, Jesus)
Eddie is also mean on screen? And no one calls him a bully. Please no one come for me because I love Eddie, but he is pretty mean to Lucas (they could literally do Hellfire after the break, no? Lucas doesn't make the sports schedule? but god forbid he have other interests that aren't deemed "intellectual"), he's very antagonistic in the lunch room scene unprovoked, and he's mean to Erica, who's doing Dustin and Mike a favor.
I will say, I do love Steve as a Tears for Fears fan, because they've got some great bops, but I am a "Steve listens to Springsteen" truther. He would've loved Born in the USA, I just know it.
Robin and Steve as The Smiths girlies is opening a whole new world of possibilities though. They listen to "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" on their way to work lol it's canon now.

ALRIGHT @unordinary-simp WANTED ME TO TELL Y’ALL WHAT I HAVE ON MY NEWEST ST OC SO FAR SO HERE IT IS
(!!TW for child neglect and weed mention)
First off, his name is Slater Davis and by the time of season 4 he is 16 years old.
He dresses in a more punk-esque style, sporting a fluffy Mohawk/mullet hairstyle and leather jackets coating graphic tees of his favorite bands.
His face claim is Daniel Millar.
Tumblr media
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
General Description:
Slater’s grown up a complete delinquent, raised in a completely dysfunctional household with a mother that had fled when he was young and a deadbeat, typically unseen father. Due to this he’s essentially raised himself, constantly alone and roaming the streets of Hawkins looking for whatever trouble he can get himself into next. He’s usually incredibly stand-offish and aggressive, never taking any friends growing up and avoiding too much interaction with others at all costs.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
How he’s introduced:
Slater first meets them during the timing of season 3. Due to his family’s struggle with income, Slater is a known thief and is banned from most stores in Hawkins due to it. The particular incident in which he attempts to break into Steve’s car leads to his first introduction with Dustin and Steve, who happen to catch him in the middle of his crime (which understandably, makes Steve absolutely outraged 😭). Dustin is hesitant as Steve scolds Slater, knowing Slater’s less than pleasant reputation around Hawkins and Slater panics as he tries to explain why he did what he did. Pitying the kid, Steve reluctantly lets him go and they promise not to tell anyone about him.
From that point, Slater’s seen more and more around at school by Dustin, and makes him anxious with the belief that Slater has it out for him after being caught red-handed. Though never it had never passed the occasional silent glare, each day Dustin grew more in fear of his life and eventually caved, privately telling Mike the situation in concern of what he should do. Conflicted, the two try to work on a plan to confront Slater and clear the air between him and Dustin.
Confronting Slater hardly goes well for them. Instead Slater is pissed that Dustin broke their promise and told Mike, refusing to accept their apologies despite Mike also assuring him that they wouldn’t tell anyone else. Slater storms off after stating he doesn’t want to ever talk to them again, then avoiding Dustin at all costs. Even though it was what Dustin had originally wanted, Slater’s new absence of his presence only left him concerned.
Dustin, Mike, Will, and Lucas eventually stumble across Slater outside of school around a week later, this time cornered by one of the school’s bullies as a fight starts out between them. After Slater throws the first punch, the group is horrified as the bully manages to overpower him and eventually flees from a bloodied Slater as he sulks in one of the town’s alleyways on his own. Though hesitant, they approach him and attempt to console him and help him clean up his wounds.
As Will wipes off the remainder of the blood on his face, they find out that Slater had gotten physically violent with the bully after he had insulted Slater, calling him a freak and making other distasteful comments about him and his father. Slater visibly regrets his decision to attack him, stating it was the first time he had started an actual fistfight. Shocked to see Slater so vulnerable, they take the opportunity to try and prove to Slater that he can trust them and that they’re there for him.
Guilty of how he treated them prior due to his struggle to trust, Slater accepts their efforts and says he wouldn’t mind being their friend.

His friendships:
Slater quickly becomes friends with the group, forming an especially close platonic bond with Will due to their vast difference in personality. Slater admires how mellow Will is, taking pages from his book in how to approach things from a calmer standpoint and better himself.
He also finds an immense interest in D&D once Will brings it up to him, eager to listen to everything he has to tell him about in hopes that he could eventually join them in a campaign. They spend a lot of their time with Will helping Slater work on his own character to play with, along with Slater teaching Will some of his own hobbies. Though Will is typically nervous about the legality of what most of Slater does, he eventually agrees to rebel with him a little as he finds an intrigue in Slater’s artistic abilities with graffiti.
Slater is absolutely heartbroken by the time Will moves away, promising to write to him often in hopes to keep their friendship alive between the times they’re able to visit one another. He often sends him drawings as well, whether it be doodles of D&D characters or portraits of Will based off of the pictures of them together that Slater keeps posted on his wall. In season 4 he tags along with Mike on his trip to visit El and Will, then getting wrapped up in the scenarios that occur throughout the season.
Slater also becomes close friends with Dustin, the two laughing off their unconventional way of meeting as they soon find they have more in common regarding their humor than they had realized. Slater really enjoys Lucas’s company as well, even if the two don’t have as much interaction. However he’s not so much a fan of Mike, due to Slater’s particular adoration of Will and constantly keeping a close eye on him to make sure he doesn’t upset Will in the slightest. Will often has to promise Slater that there’s no issues between him and Mike after being friends for so many years, trying to soothe Slater’s overprotective tendencies usually to no avail.
Slater is much more hesitant around the older members of the group, usually not interacting with them much unless he has to. He gets very nervous around Steve due to their past interaction, until Steve finds a vulnerable moment to promise Slater he isn’t upset with him anymore and that he promises to protect him as he does with the rest of the kids. Over time, Slater begins to see Steve as an older brother figure and grows more comfortable in his presence.
He doesn’t mind Robin or Cricket after becoming comfortable with Steve, being casually friendly with the two and occasionally teasing Cricket for the obvious pining the two girls have for one another, much to Cricket’s dismay as she realized perhaps she isn’t as subtle as she believed. He assures her he wouldn’t tell anyone else once Cricket eventually comes clean, taking it upon himself to make subtle efforts to play Cupid and try to get them together.
He’s most comfortable with Jonathan, assuming him to be trustworthy after seeing how close Jonathan and Will are and getting along with him well from the get-go. Jonathan’s supportive in Slater and Will’s close friendship, happy that Will has another friend that he has lots in common with hobby-wise. However after Slater stops by to visit in season 4, Jonathan quickly becomes fed up with Slater’s immediate interest in Jonathan and Argyle’s smoking habits and often having to shut him down when he asks to try it for himself.
He adores Joyce. Seeing that she was instantly kind to him from the moment they met when going over to Will’s house for a sleepover, he saw her as the mother figure he had never gotten to experience in his own household. He loves anytime Joyce lets him stay over, happy to be pampered and among people who treat him well.
Slater is quite honestly terrified of Hopper, both due to his own criminal history and the intimidating demeanor Hopper has. He’s gotten into trouble with Hopper on multiple occasions while stealing, typically let off the hook with a mere slap on the wrist as Hopper recognizes that he’s just a struggling kid without much of an other choice than to try and feed himself. Hopper even starts to help him out once Slater becomes friends with the other kids, making sure he gets food and essentials without having to steal it.
El is his introduction into finding out everything about the Upside Down and the Mind Flayer + Vecna. The group of kids promise Slater to exchange a secret of theirs to make up for knowing his secrets, leading to him meeting El and instantly becoming shocked over her abilities. Though, he quickly turns amazed and incredibly interested to learn everything about what she’s able to do. He becomes good friends with her due to this, thinking her strength is admirable and often trying to get her to join him in rebellious activities she could use her abilities for.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
His Interests/Hobbies:
Graffiti art is his main interest, constantly searching out new spots to work on elaborate artworks as he finds it a comforting escape from his home life. He enjoys traditional artwork as well even if he doesn’t do it as often, whether it be sketching or painting on canvases
He also longs to be able to learn how to play a guitar, though is unable to as his father refuses to buy him one. Due to this he drowns himself in metal music, enjoying imagining himself to be the one strumming out the guitar solos as he promises himself that one day he’ll finally get to learn to play for real
He loves collecting things he stumbles across while wandering Hawkins, glass bottles and bottle caps in particular. He displays all of his discoveries carefully on a shelf in his bedroom, keeping everything neatly lined up to admire them often
Even with his cold exterior, Slater is incredibly empathetic and loves to go out of his way to try and care for any neglected animals he finds on his walks. Typically sneakily stealing food to offer them, he’s become a recognized source of food and love by the strays. A brown tabby cat is especially adored by him, and Slater will often search out the cat during late nights to play and cuddle with when he feels lonely

Hi, bby! I thought it'd be fun if you did nct as high school students! Would you be interested in doing it?
Oooou this would be so fun! Thank you for the request!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⇢ TAEIL༊*·˚
Taeil would be pretty nerdy I think. He’d stick to himself and hang around one or two people. I think he’d be very smart, and a bit clumsy. He’d get good grades, and be involved in smart kid clubs.
⇢ JOHNNY༊*·˚
Johnny would be the skater. Probably the senior that eveyone thinks is cool. He’d be friends with the entire school. Never a teachers pet, but always the teacher favorite. Buys people snacks and stuff, just to flex the money he has tbh.
⇢ TAEYONG༊*·˚
Taeyong would be popular, but only cause girls really thought he was hot. But he’d be super smart, he’d tutor after school if anyone wanted help. And he’d always help with homework or something. Would take the girl that people bully to the prom, just to see her happy.
⇢ YUTA༊*·˚
Definitely skips school all the time. He might be here for some periods, might just walk out of class. He never does his homework...of course. Cheats a lot, detention king. Laughs at everything. But, he would be the schools star soccer player.
⇢ KUN༊*·˚
Definitely a teachers pet. Always doing his work, gets A+ all the time. That one who freaks out just cause they got a B. Tells people to be quiet, or stop talking. Never breaks a rule, gives me hall monitor vibes. Class president?
⇢ DOYOUNG༊*·˚
Always raised his hand, always knows the right answer. Does the most for class projects, and always wants to do all the work though he’ll complain about it later. Always wants to pass out the papers, and always asks about his grades.
⇢ TEN༊*·˚
Has all the hunnies. Girls literally do anything for him. Lines of people asking to go to prom with him. Flirts with the teachers to attempt to get better grades on tests.
⇢ JAEHYUN༊*·˚
Pretty much everyone’s crush, apparently everyone is his girlfriend. Locker full of Valentine’s Day cards. He doesn’t prompose to them, girls prompose to him. Doesn’t hang around too many people. Basket ball player! Pretty much the whole school are his cheerleaders.
⇢ WINWIN༊*·˚
Always wearing his headphones, never listening to anyone. Sleeps in class all of the time. Never talks to anyone. He really is just there to be honest. Doesn’t know how to react when someone has a crush on him. Doesn’t like female attention, it bothers him.
⇢ JUNGWOO༊*·˚
A class clown. Always making people laugh, gets sent to the office a few times. Never gets in trouble though, cause who could punish that cutie. Never eats the school lunch, he eats his own. Very extra with presentations.
⇢ LUCAS༊*·˚
Another heart throb. Goofy jock, basketball I assume. Or football. Never studies for the tests, or forgets there was even a test in the first place. Always the loudest person in the class room. Eveyone wants him on their team for games where height is an advantage.
⇢ MARK༊*·˚
He never knows what’s going on, he really just doesn’t want to be there. Always talks about how bad the school lunch is, yet he always eats it up. Gets hit with the dodge ball first everytime. Definitely awkward around his crush. Teachers love him, he’s kind of a model student. Perfect attendance.
⇢ XIAOJUN ༊*·˚
Always arguing about his grades with the teachers. Late to school 70% of the time. Disinterested. Always passes some how, when he barely does his homework. Goes to prom alone, or doesn’t go at all. Over it.
⇢ HENDERY༊*·˚
Always on his phone, he never puts it away. How many detentions will the man get until he-. The type to write “Ben Dover” on his test. Always getting sent out into the hall. Never wants to participate in gym, he’d rather walk. Takes the bathroom pass and is really just roaming the halls.
⇢ RENJUN༊*·˚
Applying to so many collages. Never smiled in picture day photos. Has a hustle of giving people answers to homework for $25 per page. Usually super quiet and does his work. Valedictorian.
⇢ JENO༊*·˚
Does sports all school year. Pretty good at his school work. At least a straight B student. Always the teacher’s favorite. That one who always gets good phone calls home. Volunteers a lot to help out around the school.
⇢ HAECHAN༊*·˚
Annoying as hell. Paper airplanes and spit balls. Detention prince. Everyone in the office knows him by name. Moans and makes fart noises in class. Never does his homework, very loud.
⇢ JAEMIN༊*·˚
Flirts with everyone in the school. Pretends that he doesn’t know what he’s doing to have someone help him get the answers. Skips class a lot. Always saying how he wants to go home. Never returns library books on time.
⇢ YANGYANG༊*·˚
Also very annoying. Never stops talking, and talks about. Laughs at everything. Does his homies it’s being collected. Signs his own detention letters. Goes around collecting chocolate milks at lunch. Always wants to be a captain during gym. Purposely loud to bother people.
⇢ SUNGCHAN༊*·˚
Child he really is just sitting here. People don’t even remember he goes to the school. He gives me main character vibes. Just that one tall guy, who’s just tall. Probably a band kid.
⇢ SHOTARO༊*·˚
Everyone loves him. Pretty much the school sweetheart. He’s very polite and always raises his hand. The one that brings the teachers Christmas presents. Actually uses study hall to study.
⇢ CHENLE༊*·˚
Never listening, headphones in all the time. You never see this man do homework, yet somehow he always passes. You can hear his laugh from a mile away. Running in the halls. Tries to stay in the locker rooms, so he dies have to do gym.
⇢ JISUNG༊*·˚
Teacher always has to ask him to speak up when reading. Always forgetting something in his locker. Only likes the strawberry milk at lunch. Has his mom pack his lunch. Never raises his hand, but he always knows the answer.

notable moments from The Stork Job
leverage 1.06
Joe: Where is he? What have you done with him?
Dana: Why haven't you returned our calls?
Joe: Did you think we'd just go away?
Dana: We’ve given you the money. What else do you want? (approaches Irena) What have you done with Luca?!
(thug grabs Dana and pushes her aside)
Joe: Dana!
(Joe goes to help Dana and is stopped by the thug. Joe punches the thug, who then beats him into the ground as Irena and Nicolas walk away. Thug leaves, and Dana crawls to his side)
yo can we take a moment to respect and love these parents??? like technically luca was just a kid they were going to adopt but these two were ready to THROW DOWN for him because even though they didn’t really know each other, he was going to be their kid if that’s the last thing they did
- - - - -
Dana: $120,000. We had to take a second mortgage out on the house.
Nate: Well, we can get the money back.
Dana: We don't want the money. All we want is Luca.
Nate: Right. (looks at picture of Luca)
we love to see the clients being noble as hell
- - - - -
Eliot: Are we seriously considering this, huh? Swiping a kid?
Nate: Yeah, well -- What happened to you?
Eliot (scrapes on his face): Well, how was I supposed to know it was a lesbian bar?
...I bet it was from something fucking stupid
eliot “distinctive” spencer would have known it was a lesbian bar
(edit: I heard that on the commentary for that episode CK got the injury from trying to play football while wearing cowboy boots and honestly what a chaotic fav)
- - - - -
Eliot: How do we even know this kid is an orphan?
Parker: See him pocketing those cookies? He’s hoarding food. That bag on the table -- he keeps his essentials light and portable. He knows he's gonna be taken away at any moment. And there, when she goes to touch him, he flinches. He’s expecting… for her to... Trust me. He’s an orphan.
parker’s Tragic Backstory™ is about to be told in 40 minutes, let’s go
- - - - -
Sophie: Hey, can we -- can we stop off in Paris on the way?
Nate: Uh... maybe on the way back.
Sophie: Cool
sophie loves paris and was so happy and excited im-
- - - - -
Parker: Yes. And she's with someone.
Eliot: That’s never stopped me before
parker, rolling her eyes: bruh
- - - - -
sophie being “princess magda of slovenia” rb if u agree
- - - - -
Nate: You know, just hurry up.
Hardison: It’s not so fun working in the crappy command center, is it? No, see, you're usually off doing your European spy thing. Well, welcome to my world.
(Computer shows facial recognition program working on picture Eliot sent. Hardison offers Sophie a bottle of pop)
Hardison: Orangescu?
even in a foreign country hardison manages to get something akin to orange soda
- - - - -
Sophie: Who was it? -- Dagmar from the car-rental place was a lovely girl, but listen, Irina’s a professional grifter. She's gonna see straight through your moves. She does this for a living. You know, gets people to like her and trust her, even to fall in love with her. She doesn't do this for sport.
Nate: Mm. Sounds like someone I know.
s a v a g e
- - - - -
Nicolas: Beautiful name for a beautiful lady. Tell me, Hardison, what brings you to Serbia?
Hardison: Oh, do my fangs and cape frighten you
hardison being Done™ with a skeevy guy hitting on parker and making jokes to ease the tension 🥰
- - - - -
parker says that sleeping is one of her hobbies and honestly bitch me too
- - - - -
Parker: It’s amazing how far Serbia’s come, but the scars must still be there. I mean, all the families who suffered during the war.
Nicolas: Yes, but history always has its casualties.
Parker: Yes, but those families and those children.
Nicolas: It’s tragic, yes. But the strong, the smart, the... the beautiful, they survive.
[Flashback]
(Joe, Dana and Luca on home move.)
Joe: Smile!
Dana: Smile.
(A young Parker swinging, cuts to Luca sitting in the car that will take him away, cuts to young Parker on a merry-go-round, cuts to Luca being driven away)
Woman: What’s wrong?
(a young Parker in a car holding her bunny, cuts to Nicolas driving the car that takes Luca away)
Nicolas: It’s time to go.
[American Embassy]
Nicolas: Not everyone is worth saving.
(Parker gropes behind her and grabs a fork from the table, stabbing Nicolas with it. Everyone in the room looks in their direction)
parker’s past is developed a lot in this episode and we love to see it + bby you can stab anyone you want
- - - - -
parker fucking yeeting out the window is me after I do anything remotely embarrassing
- - - - -
Eliot: I’m lucky to have you on such a short notice. (takes paper from man) Zhavaliti. Is that right? Zhavaliti? Thank you? See? Yeah? No? Welcome to the set.
Hardison: Fire in the hole!
(Hardison sets off explosion of flame behind them)
Eliot: Yeah, it's exciting, isn’t it?
Irena: yes.
Eliot: That guy's our special-effects guy. He ain't all there.
friendship means gently bullying each other
- - - - -
Parker (sits down near prop truck): This is ridiculous.
Hardison (sits down next to her with fake gun): Tell me about it. We’re supposed to believe these are real?
Parker: This is what he expects me to do, fetch scripts and water?
Hardison: No, it's a trust thing. He just needs to know that you’re gonna go along with the game plan.
Parker: Yeah, yeah. I get it; we're a team.
Hardison: A little more than a team. I’m just saying
this was such a big episode for parker and her opening up to the team (hardison in specific)
- - - - -
Hardison (picks up papers): Sophie, are you -- seriously, Sophie. It was supposed to be a two-page scene between Irina and a boy.
(Eliot grabs pages)
Sophie: That’s still the heart of it.
Eliot: "The heart of it"? There’s like 10 pages here! You have a stunt. You have special effects.
Parker: "Sister Magda crosses and gets a loaf of bread." Wait, who's sister Magda?
(Sophie rolls out dramatically wearing a nun’s costume while ethereal music is playing)
Hardison: Tell me you didn't see that coming.
(Eliot grabs the pages and walks away)
sophie: is dramatic
eliot: surprised pikachu face
hardison: ??? were you expecting something else
- - - - -
Sophie: Listen. All right, look, look -- look at all this. This is my world, okay? You need -- you need someone to, I don't know, crawl through an air duct, you call Parker. Bash her head in - Eliot. Internet porn -- Hardison. If you need someone to take over a movie, then...
Nate: yes, an -- an actor. Right
sOpHiE bRuH
poor hardison, he never gets enough credit
- - - - -
Nate: And... cut!
(everyone claps, Sophie sits up, smiling)
Eliot: She can't act.
Nate: She can act when it's an act.
Eliot (going to Sophie): Unbelievable.
Sophie Really?! Really?!
Eliot: Yeah, really. It was great.
eliot is such a supportive friend because literally his jaw dropped at her acting and literally the first thing he did when they said cut was rush over to her and compliment her
eliot is secretly a hype man disguised in many layers of gruff
- - - - -
Hardison: Just take it slow until she leads you to Luca.
Parker: I can't believe they sent you to babysit me.
Hardison: I’m here on my own
hardison cares about her so quickly I’m soft
- - - - -
parker’s haunted look and glassy eyes when she stumbles into the room with all the children? her heavy breathing? how she has to brace herself on a bed frame so that she doesn’t fall over? heartbreaking
- - - - -
[Harbor]
(van pulls to a stop and Parker and Hardison get out, Parker pacing nervously)
Parker: This isn't just an adoption scam.
Hardison: I know. I already called Nate.
Parker: These are arms dealers, and they're using the orphanage for cover.
Hardison: I already called Nate. Now, look, we can go over this with the others back at the hotel.
Parker: We have to bail.
Hardison: No. no, no, no. What about Luca and the others? We can't leave them like that.
Parker: Why not?
Hardison: You don't mean that.
Parker: You think this is the only crappy orphanage in this place? This is a country full of orphans, okay? We can't save them all.
Hardison: No, but we can save this one. Parker, we can -- we can save this one. Look, I know growing up was tough. I-I know that you -- you grew up in the system. It was -- it was bad. I know. It was, it was worse than bad, but that doesn't mean that all foster parents are monsters. Mine wasn't.
Parker: You grew up with your grandmother.
Hardison: We called her "nana," but she was our foster mom. She, uh... she -- she would cuss like a sailor. The old girl would tan your ass just as soon as look at you. But -- but she fed us, she bathed us, she put a roof over our head. And, oh, she would raise hell if you so much as looked at us crooked.
Parker: Yeah?
Hardison: Yeah.
Parker: Well, you were lucky. No. We’ll put these kids in the system, and odds are, they're gonna -- they're gonna... (trying not to cry) they're gonna turn out like me.
Hardison: I like how you turned out.
(Parker breathes hard, getting control of herself)
Hardison: Let’s go
this whole conversation was a lot meta wise but also this was one of the real defining moments in their relationship in s1. it’s also one of the first times parker starts to open up to the team for real, even if it’s only hardison
also, I personally will never get over the “I like how you turned out”
- - - - -
Hardison: I ran humpty and dumpty through the usual databases. Chechen separatists. Seriously bad dudes.
(Eliot chuckles)
Hardison: After reading their bios, I don't think I’m ever gonna sleep again.
Eliot: Never tell a Chechen his sister has a nice smile. Trust me
eliot is an idiot
- - - - -
Nate: Okay, let's go. (leads Luca forward)
Sophie (in Serbian): Everything’s going to be okay. Do you understand?
Eliot: Maybe this will help.
(Eliot leads Luca over to the Mortons)
Dana: Hi, Luca. Do you remember us?
(Luca smiles, Dana hugs him)
Dana: Thank you.
Joe: Thank you so much. Come on.
(The Mortons and Luca get in their car)
Eliot: I got to tell you, I had my doubts at first, this feels pretty good
and the eliot-being-soft-around-kids saga B E G I N S
- - - - -
parker trying her best to translate but just making the kids giggle
“men will sadden you” same
and what gets the kids up and going? Haagen-Dazs
- - - - -
fierce, determined parker beating up scumbags is my sexuality
+
parker isn’t violent a lot in terms of being anywhere close to the team’s fighter/hitter, but she fights so hard for the kids in this episode and it’s one of the only times we see her fight fight and that shows just how much she cares
- - - - -
Parker: Shh, shh, be quiet, they have armed guards at that door.
(door bursts open and a man falls through. Eliot stands in the doorway, looking angry)
Sophie: No, they don't
her team always has her back, even if they’re angry at her trying to go at it alone
- - - - -
parker spreading herself out to cover as much space as possible, bracing herself to get shot over and over with the hopes that at least none of the kids will im-
she’s so selfless sksjdnnsns
- - - - -
eliot being all gruff that things happened the way they did but smiling at the exploding building because they did it and the kids were safe
- - - - -
THE FUCKING PROP TRUCK PLAYING SPOOKY AND WEREWOLF NOISES AS THEY DRIVE AWAY JUST TO MOCK THEM

bonus: nate’s “anD CUT”
- - - - -
Parker: Hey, how did you know I’d be at the orphanage?
Nate: Thank Hardison for that. (follows Eliot)
Hardison: You know you could have gotten killed. Did -- did you even have an exit strategy?
Parker: I didn't really think that far ahead.
Hardison: You don't work alone anymore. You know that, right?
Parker: I know.
Hardison: We're a team…?
Parker: We're a little more than a team.
this important conversation but also HARDISONS SMILE
- - - - -
Parker: (gets on the van) Hey, Nate. I have to tell you something.
Nate: What is it?
Parker: We have to stop at Hagen Daaz.
Children: Hagen Daaz!!!
after all that they deserve like a billion pints of ice cream

i love hearing what you have to say about season 4!! i promise it’s not too long lol, anyway i have a question for you: what do you think the next season holds for mike & el? i’m a little worried tbh
ahhh thank you !! same rules apply: spoilers ahead, so please read no further and blacklist/filter out the ‘s4′, ‘st4′, ‘spoilers’ tags if you don’t want to see anything !!
i’m going to talk about them both as individuals and as a pair but first, i have to say that i don’t personally feel like you have to worry about them breaking up or anything again this season. i think s4 is really going to establish romantic jopper and once that happens, i don’t see them, mileven, or jancy not being endgame unless someone actually dies. which -- i’m not going to think about the possibility of anyone dying until i’m forced to confront it, so. this is fiction and it’s already unrealistic and i’m gonna take my ‘everyone survives, happiness all around, time to relax’ endings and go. anyway, i would love to add lumax to this list but i honestly think it could go either way depending on what happens in s4. that’s a different essay, though.
i tend to think that the most important dynamic on the show is the one between the whole group and i just don’t really see them spending much more time trying to develop romantic relationships outside of the ones set up since s1/2. maybe steve, robin, and will get love interests, maybe they decide to develop dustin and suzie more, maybe suzie is never even mentioned again, idk. but these will probably all be secondary -- as in less screen time, not less important than the main romances, but probably still less developed. unless it happens to be a new person added to the main cast. which, as of now, the only new mains are brett and priah who has gone from recurring to regular. so.
i think s3 showed how messy and complicated romantic relationships (or, really just relationships in general) can be. everyone was arguing, there was miscommunication all around, everyone thought they knew what was best, no one was seeing eye to eye. but when it comes down to it, they would do anything for each other. they understand each other better than anyone else ever could. i can’t see them spending another season on breakups and romance drama after the ending of s3.
mike and el have already been separated once before. this time, mike knows for sure that she’s alive and that’s she’s with the byers. this time, el won’t be kept completely isolated away from everyone else. they’ve made plans to meet for the holidays. they can still call and talk to each other as much as they want. i’m hoping they handle being separated this time better than they did in s2. i don’t want mike to be moping and i don’t want el to spend a lot of the season thinking about how much she misses him. in fact, i think in their case that some distance could be good for them. the same for jancy and jopper, too, honestly. it’ll be nice to see them existing outside of these relationships while still acknowledging how important they are.
as far as i know, the byers and el stuff has not started filming yet so all there is to speculate on are rumors, the audition tapes, and logical guesses about where the story goes after s3. el obviously moves away with the byers. we still don’t know where. she’ll still be mourning hopper and trying to figure out life without her powers. and, of course, she’ll be in a long distance relationship with mike. i think she’ll be having a hard time and she’ll wish that mike was around, but she’ll realize she’s got a pretty good support system around her now with the byers, too. i’m very, very excited for more joyce and el content particularly, but there’s gotta be some great scenes with her and will and jonathan as well.
there’s only one audition tape that i can confidently tie into the byers + el plot(s?) and it’s the queen bee/mean girl character ‘angela’. if we’re running with the whole ‘there may be some truth to the audition vids’ thing, then this one teases that el will be going to school and that angela will be bullying her. this is something she would probably want to talk about with mike (b i g troy s1 vibes) but i don’t know if she actually would ? so this is probably more a thing that el and will could bond over or that she could talk about with joyce or maybe jonathan. i do think there will be at least a few calls between the two of them before the action really hits and the whole group is (hopefully...) reunited.
so, el -- at least in the beginning of s4 -- will be going to school where ‘angela’ bullies her, forming a bond with joyce + will + jonathan and becoming part of the family, mourning hopper (+ hopefully having conversations about him + his past with joyce), missing her friends back in hawkins, continuing to learn how to navigate life without her powers, and trying to maintain a long distance relationship with mike.
mike... i’ve been seeing some wild theories about him today but they aren’t really that far-fetched i think. first, going back to the audition tapes, the ‘eddie’ audition i saw makes it seem like mike is going to be part of the hellfire club with dustin. i’ve recently learned that there’s another version of the scene where ‘eddie’ is only talking to dustin and mike might not be a part of the club after all. if he isn’t part of the club, then the basketball v. hellfire, jocks v. nerds thing turns into lucas v. dustin and mike’s probably there just caught in the middle while max is off distancing herself from everyone.
at this point, i really want mike and max to become good friends. i think the end of s3 gave them the perfect opportunity. s4 max has s2 mike vibes. it’s not the same situation at all, but he knows kinda what she’s feeling and they could connect through that + the fact that they’ll both be missing el. i also just really want... some wheeler siblings content. i’m hopeful that s4 gives us good nancy and mike scenes bc there’s no reason not to give us good nancy and mike scenes (+holly!). however...
while there’s proof that gaten and sadie and natalia and priah have all been filming since production restarted, and while i have reason to believe that caleb has been filming a lot inside/at the studio recently... there’s no evidence that finn has been on set. there’s none for maya and joe, either, but people have said that finn isn’t even in atlanta right now. maybe he is and maybe he just hasn’t been seen and maybe he’ll pop back up tomorrow. or, maybe he already filmed whatever he needed to film for hawkins before production stopped.
the wild theory that’s popped up today is that everything gets to be too much for him in hawkins and he just... hops on a train to go visit el + the byers. i don’t know if i buy it, but it is interesting to note that he was sitting with them at the table read. and since we can guess that steve and robin will still be working at the video store, robin and nancy will be investigating pennhurst together, lucas and max may have some angst, joyce and murray are probably teaming up for the finding/saving hopper plot, and el is going to bond with will and jonathan, it seems like the order might mean a little something. i’d even bet that dustin and erica have scenes with them bonding over d&d.
now this theory pretty much only exists because no one’s seen finn on set and one of the paps posted some pics of some trains. there’s also always theories about how there will be issues at home with the wheeler fam and if that’s going to happen, what better time than in s4 when all of his friends are pulling away and el’s gone again. so if he is missing el (and will) that much, and if he has any reason to worry about her and how she’s doing, or if the party becoming distant and issues at home are weighing on him and he feels like he needs to get away, he’s absolutely the type to venture off on a train by himself. i don’t know how it would work since he’s definitely supposed to still be in school and his friends/nancy at least would notice he’s gone, but.. it’s fun to think about and we’ve got zero actual content to go off of right now.
another way i could see mike’s plot going is that he’s the one trying to keep the party together this season. playing mediator with lucas and dustin, becoming better friends with max, being the connection between the hawkins plot and the byers plot (along with nancy).
there was also talk of him joining the track team bc the track has been set up with hawkins high colors for filming. but mike ‘this isn’t a stupid sports game’ wheeler? i don’t think so... basically, no one knows at the moment what’s happening with mike wheeler in s4 lol.
s4 mike is just like s4 byers fam -- a complete mystery to me currently. i don’t personally think that he’ll be leaving school and hopping on a train to visit el. i think he’ll be a part of the hellfire club with dustin, or that he won’t and instead will be attempting to keep the party from completely disbanding. i hope that we get wheeler siblings scenes and that max and mike have a breakthrough and become better friends. i also feel like he’ll be having some complicated feelings about hopper, the last interaction they had, etc. and, again, the whole long distance thing with el.
so... mike and el broke up in s3. it was messy. but then they reconciled. and then hopper “died”. s3 ended with them at this weird place where she’s heard him say that he loves her and she’s told him that she loves him back. things are a little awkward in the scene bc everything has changed at this point, but a kiss, an ‘i love you’, planning to meet up on the holidays, and promising to call frequently all sounds like they’re back together and going to try making the long distance thing work to me.
i think they’ll be together when s4 starts. i think that we’ll probably only see them talking on the phone or their radios for the first few eps. maybe we’ll see flashbacks or something to them being together on the holidays. the distance might be hard and they’re definitely going to be missing each other. like... el doesn’t have mike or hopper with her now and i’m thinking the party is going to be drifting apart, plus they’re both probably going to have other personal issues that have nothing to do with each other or the party. maybe they’ll be experiencing some emotional distancing of their own while dealing with the aftermath of hopper’s “death”, the move, and whatever’s going on with them at home and at school. i think that once they reunite (probably not until the last half of the season), they’re likely to be stronger than ever.
now, onto personal theories that have zero basis. for some reason, i can’t get it out of my head that this season might dive into psychological horror a little bit ? like a greatest fears type of thing ?? and i keep thinking about brenner popping back up and using the people el loves to get to her or something and 👀👀

Stranger Things Teacher AU
Sorry, it got long
All of the party™ are teachers at Hawkins Highschool (either they never met and became a tight squad of teachers there or the actual plot of Stranger Things, you choose)
Mike (Mr. Wheeler) is the English (I and II) and Creative Writing teacher.
He kind of dislikes English II, but it’s not that bad. He hates the grammar section but he pushes them to do as much reading and writing as possible
HE LOVES CREATIVE WRITING! His students write a short story every week to go with a prompt he gives them.
Sometimes he’ll read his students short stories/ comics he made as a kid.
The students think it was funny how Mr. Byers drew the comics and Mr. Wheeler thought of the dialouge and plot (no matter which AU you choose, WILL AND MIKE WERE ALWAYS FRIENDS)
MIKE HATES FRESHMEN
He has a water bottle on his desk that says “FRESHMAN TEARS”
The whole school hate/loves him. During one assembly he had a dance off with two girls from the dance team (he won)
Will (Mr. Byers) is the art teacher (duh)!
He doesn’t have as many students as most teachers, because he’s a fine art not many people want to take. But that just means he gets to know all of them one on one.
His favorite students call him Mr. Will or Will
He has a secret romance going on with Mr Wheeler. ☺️
His favorite students are usually seniors, and on fridays they play fun kahoot (this is modern) or free draw!
His tables are a fake marble so they can finger paint on them and then wipe it off.
He has a wall in his classroom that’s a mural that the party did (most of it is average or bad, but he doesn’t care)
He decorates the room for Halloween with his first hour class (and mr wheeler because he doesn’t have anyone first hour) and they go APESHIT
Mr. Henderson is the science teacher for juniors and seniors (freshmen remind him of his young self, so he don’t do that shit)
Even though he isn’t the coach of any sports, he is the leader/coach of the robotics club, so most students call him “Coach Henderson” for fun
Sometimes he hears students make fun of him for his teeth/voice but usually he sends them to the principal’s office. When he doesn’t he tells Coach Sinclair about it, and he always duels our special punishments
Coach Sinclair once heard a group of boys imitating Mr. Henderson, so they had to do 10 laps around the school (full sprint) and two months of detention
Dustin is super into his lessons and plans all of them out during the summer, because he genuinely loves his job. He wants to be able to answer every question that’s thrown at him, just like his old science teacher.
They have labs every other day to give students a break from notes, and he’s had at least 12 fires in his room.
Coach Sinclair is a football coach at Hawkins High, but was offered a job as World History/Civics teacher.
He hates Civics, but likes World History.
Civics is for Freshmen, and World History is for Sophmores, which he loves.
One of his students made a countdown on the whiteboard until February 4th and won’t tell the class what it means. Lucas is determined to find out.
He does, on February 4th. Turns out it was National Coach Sinclair Day, And the student brought him a cake. He teared up a bit at this, worried his students didn’t like him that much
His students give him a hard time sometimes (cause they know he isn’t qualified to teach) but they all really like him.
Lucas has the funkiest outfits at school
He always promised that for every test, the classes that have a 90% or above class average, get to see him dance
Eleven (Ms. Hopper-Byers) is the Chorus teacher!
Her students call her Ms.EHB, but sometimes Ms. Elle (yes she decided to hyphenate the name, god)
She’s really bad at quieting down the class, but usually when it doesn’t work she just uses her powers to break a light, then they all get freaked out and quiet
(Sorry repair dudes who constantly have to fix her lights)
She enjoys her class, because she sings good (not outstanding but if she started to sing you wouldn’t tell her to shut up)
Sometimes she loses her voice from having to talk too much, even though she only has to be at school for two classes.
She gets to school at lunch time so she can see the party and plan her classes.
The students think she is dating Mr. Wheeler (though she isn’t, she’s very interested in Ms. Mayfeild) because she’s caught siting on Mr. Wheeler’s desk often
There aren’t any windows in her classroom, so she likes to go on walks outside when she has spare time
She painted her classroom walls baby blue, and it boosts her mood
She’s the nicest teacher in the whole school, and after concerts she takes the class to get ice cream (on the school’s credit card of course)
Max (Ms. Mayfeild/ Coach Mayfeild/ Coach Max) is the PE teacher. She also coaches softball and soccer.
Not a whole lot of the girls like her, because she’s so loud and intense. The boys like her tho, and give her fist bumps and call her bro.
She’s a harsh teacher, but for some reason it’s one of the most popular classes
She hasn’t said she’s gay, but everyone pretty much guessed and ran with it.
Everyone wants to know which teacher she would date if she could, and she hasn’t told anyone except for her favorite student, Charlie.
Charlie never told anyone Coach Mayfeild has a crush on the Chorus teacher.
She loves her Outdoor Ed class the best, they canoe and hike and fish.
(Sometimes it reminds her of the demogorgon)
The principal is Mrs. Buckley (aka Robin. THATS RIGHT. MRS.)
Everyone loves her, and is surprised she is in charge because of her young age.
She used to be the most popular teacher in the whole school (Band/Chorus) then she became administration, then principal
Her wife Heather, is the school nurse
She competes in all the homecoming/prom assembly competitions and tries to make the school more fun for everyone
She’s not too fond of punishing students, so she leaves most of it to the Vice Principal, except for when she hears about homophobic bullying
When she goes off at a homophobic bukky at her desk, she always makes sure the picture of her wife is facing the student
Speaking of Vice, Mr. Harrington is The Vice Principal
He’s kind to all the students, giving them high fives in the hallways, but cracks down in punishments
He’s very loved, but if you hear “do you want to be sent to Mr. Harrington’s office?” You shut the fuck Up
Every day on the announcements he has a “nugget of knowledge” which is just a reminder of the rules that he never enforces, but quickly becomes a meme around the school
One week students start to notice a new ring on Steve’s fourth finger when they highfive him, and rumors fly around. No one even knew he was dating.
He never officially tells the students (it’s not their business), but they notice when he changes his last name from Harrington to Hargrove
Coach Hargrove is a baseball and football coach. He also teaches PE, and gets in fights with his little step sister.
While Coach Mayfeild does Juniors and Seniors, Coach Hargrove teaches Freshmen and Sophmores. He hates them, and they know it.
He’s a pretty rough teacher, but all the girls drool over him. He knows they do, to his embarrassment.
Everyone flips their shit when they find out the meanest teacher ever and the coolest cat in town get hitched
They start acting like clowns, at make jokes (like Billy went soft? Tsktsktsk), But no he isn’t soft, and reminded everyone that when he went right back to screaming at them to do 12 laps.
There’s two more teachers I want to introduce: Mr. and Mrs. Byers (Jonathan And Nancy)
Jonathan is in charge of yearbook staff and is a counselor. Some kids think he’s creepy, but that’s just cause they’ve never spoken to him.
He’s really nice and has a bowl of candy on his desk for the kids
He likes being part of students’ future decision making but enjoys yearbook way more.
He’s quiet and usually keeps to himself
Mrs. Byers is the Freshmen and Sophmore Mary teacher.
The students like her well enough, but not very many people’s favorite.
She likes the class to be completely silent except for group activities and the last five minutes of class.
She’s nice though and brings the birthday kids candy.
She still dresses like it’s the 80s and kids tease her for it (she doesn’t mind tho)
Sorry this got so long and gay, oops

say it’s okay when it’s not
chapter 11: who’s guilty?
Lucas tries and fails at keeping things normal between him and Eliott, has a heartfelt talk with Arthur, reunites with his mom and finds out something unexpected.
(quick psa the updates may not be as regular as they’ve been because the exam session starts soon and i can’t promise anything but the story wont be abandoned no worries!)
The weight of Eliott’s confession doesn’t reach Lucas until much later.
He’s eating his cereal on a Sunday morning when he freezes mid-bite.
He didn’t fully understand what occurred on Friday, so nothing weird happened between them. They danced some more, then watched a movie and afterwards Eliott left. He was relaxed by that time, no longer any uneasy air surrounding him. And Lucas was happy about it. He didn’t think about the reason behind Eliott’s distress too long. Like, yes, his brain stopped working for a moment when Eliott said he liked him, but he regained his senses quickly. Mostly because of how nervous Eliott was in that moment and Lucas didn’t want him to feel bad.
Eliott didn’t want him to comment on the matter so that probably also played a role as to why Lucas let go of it so easily. But now it’s struck him.
Eliott has a crush on him. Has had one for a long time. And he was convinced that he had been obvious about it all the while Lucas hadn’t noticed a thing. Maybe he would have seen it coming if not for all the mess going on in his life, but still. They’ve grown closer over the past month or so. He couldn’t have been that blind.
Perhaps Eliott is better at hiding those things than he thinks.
But does it change anything? Lucas has been treating their bond as something precious, as something he wanted to keep. He doesn’t want to lose it. Should he be worried now? No, Eliott told him he didn’t want things to change and specifically asked him not to say anything. He wants them to stay friends despite his feelings for Lucas. Which is sweet, but should Lucas watch himself now? Should he keep any distance?
It’d go against both of them wanting things to stay the same. So he can’t start acting like anything has changed. Mostly because he doesn’t want to. He feels comfortable with Eliott, he likes being close to him.
What if he gives Eliott false hope? What if he makes him believe they could be more? No, Eliott said he doesn’t expect anything from Lucas which means he doesn’t think Lucas likes him this way. He accepts being rejected, hell, he turned himself down without Lucas saying a word.
In this case, Lucas doesn’t have to freak out about it, does he? Eliott simply wanted to share it with him, that’s what friends do. No need to sweat it.
But on the other hand, a boy likes Lucas. Damn. That has never happened before and he’s got no idea how to feel about it. When he remembers the gentle way Eliott confessed to him, his voice obviously anxious, something flutters in Lucas’ stomach. He can’t pinpoint what exactly and whether it’s a good or bad thing; all he knows is that it makes him jittery.
“Everything alright?” someone asks and Lucas jumps on his seat, almost knocking the bowl with his cereal over. He looks to the side and sees Manon, watching him carefully. There’s a wrinkle of worry between her eyebrows. He gulps.
“Yeah, it’s cool,” he says. He can’t tell her he’s just realised his friend has feelings for him. It would be like spilling Eliott’s secrets. Lucas isn’t that kind of person.
“Are you sure you want to go to school tomorrow?” She sits down next to him, her gaze boring in the side of his face.
Lucas nods. “I wanted to stay here, but I can’t hide forever. Besides, you will be there and the girls and boys. I should be fine,” he says and he wants to make it sound like he’s certain about it, for Manon’s sake, but in reality he’s trying to convince himself it’s a good idea. He keeps recalling everything Mika has told him to gain some strength and push forward. Only that way can he face his fears.
Manon sighs and props her chin up on her palm. “But we can’t be by your side all the time,” she mumbles with defeat and Lucas chuckles. So that’s what Yann meant when he talked about how everyone might be all over Lucas’ when he comes back.
“Don’t worry, I’m a big boy. I don’t need to be supervised all the time,” he assures her with a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
Sure, he’s scared of going back, of being seen by all those people who stood by when he was suffering. But he has to think about the good things if he doesn’t want to be consumed by doubts.
He will go to school and survive.
 ***
The closer to the building he is, the heavier his steps seem to be. It’s like his body was telling him not to go there. Rejected the idea of stepping on the school grounds altogether. But Lucas can’t let the dread dictate every single thing he does. He needs to go there or he will feel like he failed.
Walking through the gate, his hands are already trembling. He avoids looking at anyone while crossing the schoolyard, going straight to where he knows his friends are. With his eyes downcast and hands curled up into fists, despite one of them aching, he walks until he reaches the familiar bench.
The guys are there and the air shifts slightly when Lucas joins them. But not in a bad or awkward way. More in a prepare yourself way.
Lucas looks over them, flushes when his eyes meet Eliott’s and says, “Hey.”
A second later and both Arthur and Basile are on him, squeezing him to the point something in his back cracks.
Arthur lands a wet kiss on Lucas’ forehead and pulls him close to his chest all the while Basile is clinging to Lucas’ neck. It’d be embarrassing if it wasn’t this endearing.
He hears Yann and Eliott laughing at the scene and lets out a snort himself. “You can let go of me now,” he mumbles, his voice muffled by Arthur’s shirt.
“As if,” Arthur replies and tightens his hold around Lucas.
“Guys, let him breathe,” Yann says, trying to tug Basile away from Lucas. Once he succeeds, Lucas sends him a grateful look and gets a wide grin in return. Basile pouts but Yann throws an arm over his shoulders. Arthur probably won’t budge as easily as Basile, his grip iron, but Lucas will let him be.
He wraps his arms around Arthur in resignation and lets himself be hugged.
Things may not get any better, Lucas can’t shake the terror off himself and will not be able to do it for a very long time, but he never has to struggle all by himself and that’s a thing he’s learnt while going through all those hardships.
 ***
Over a week has passed since that accident, but people are looking, of course, they are. And Lucas could almost laugh when they are all seated in the cafeteria. Each one of them sporting visible, although fading, bruises from then.
He hasn’t noticed earlier, but Basile has an enormous one in the middle of his forehead and Arthur’s nose is swollen. Not to mention Eliott’s split lip or Yann’s cheekbone wound. Thank God Lucas’ most prominent injuries are covered by his clothes.
They must be a sight nevertheless. People keep throwing looks their way just as they’ve been doing throughout the whole day, any time Lucas passed them in the hallways or during lessons.
But he tries to ignore the stares that make his skin crawl and focuses on eating his meal instead. The rest seem unbothered. They’ve probably gotten used to the attention in the past week.
Someone knocks into Lucas’ foot under the table and his head shoots up. The guys are busy eating their food or talking over one another and the only one that catches Lucas’ eye is Eliott.
“Are you okay?” he asks and Lucas raises his eyebrow in confusion. Eliott nods at Lucas’ side and only then does he realise he’s been rubbing his hand over his ribs. He immediately stops the movement and puts his hand on the table.
“I’m fine,” he replies sheepishly. How come did Eliott notice something Lucas wasn’t even aware of?
He doesn’t ask, letting his eyes fall back to his half-eaten pasta. He waits a moment and then sneaks a glance at Eliott, but he’s already preoccupied with his meal. Lucas lets his eyes wander over Eliott’s frame, the way he’s holding his fork, making a conversation or gesticulating with his free hand. Lucas pauses when Eliott smiles at something Yann has said, his eyes crinkling up with amusement.
Soon enough Eliott’s finished with his meal and takes a sip from his soda. Lucas observes how his Adam’s apple bops when he swallows. Eliott wipes his lips with the back of his hand and puts his elbows on the table, engaging in a discussion with Basile.
Lucas tries to look away, to eat his own lunch, but each time, his eyes go back to Eliott.
God, why is he making it so weird? Eliott didn’t tell him about his feelings to be gawked at, he gets it enough from other students. He confessed because he trusts Lucas. And Lucas is about to make him really uncomfortable if he doesn’t stop.
Lucas grits his teeth, angry at his behaviour and forces himself to go through the rest of what’s on his plate. He’s on his third bite when someone flicks him in the ear and he flinches.
“Have you been to the police station?” Arthur asks when Lucas finally looks up at him. Arthur’s sitting next to Lucas so he doesn’t have to raise his voice. That way the rest don’t pay them any mind. Small victories.
“I haven’t,” Lucas replies, twirling pasta around his plate. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees Arthur scoffing.
“Why not? We all went,” he says, his eyebrows pinched. Lucas rolls his eyes. “Don’t make that face. You know the situation is serious, you can’t let that go.”
Lucas lets out a heavy sigh. “I was told you all reported the accident. The school said they aren’t going to leave it alone either. I don’t have to make it personal,” Lucas says petulantly. He knows he should press the charges against the bullies, he’s well aware of it. But how can he be sure it won’t cause more problems than do good? And it’s a scary thing. It’d make everything even more serious.
“You have to make it personal,” Arthur says, his voice full of disbelief. From his point of view, Lucas must be acting like a stubborn kid who doesn’t realise what happened.
“Maybe I don’t want to,” Lucas answers. He’s contradicting himself all the time. He wants justice, he wants to push forward, not have this situation swept under the rug. He promised before that he’d do something if he was hurt any further. But his whole being is telling him to just ignore it. Try to live as if nothing happened, like it was an obstacle he had to get through.
“You could have died. If no one had informed the principal, if the girls hadn’t seen it. If we hadn’t got to you on time, you could be dead right now,” Arthur says, his voice cutting through the noise around them. His tone is sharp and cold, giving Lucas chills. “Don’t treat it lightly. Manon told us you weren’t getting out of your room for days, that you weren’t eating. So please, don’t… don’t act like all is okay now as they were expelled.” Arthur has closed his eyes and the hand he’s put on the table is shaking. And Lucas realises that it’s not only about him. He remembers how Eliott told him that Arthur was blaming himself and it’s visible in the way he acts around Lucas as if he were something easily breakable.
There’s more to that. Lucas was attacked for being gay. Arthur is bisexual. It has to be petrifying for him, to be in a school where something like that happens to people like him. Lucas wonders if Arthur thought that he could have been a victim. Who knows, maybe Arthur is also blaming himself for that. That it was Lucas people picked on.
Arthur seems to be overflowing with emotions, bottling it up ever since the truth about Lucas came out. He has so many reasons to seek out rightfulness in this situation. Lucas wishes he could take this burden off him. He needs to stop thinking about himself only. He owes Arthur and all of his friends that much. Besides he’s already decided to fight his demons.
He puts his hand on Arthur’s shoulder and squeezes, trying to ground him.
“If it’s important to you, I’ll go. But only if you go with me,” Lucas mutters and Arthur looks up at him.
“It should be important to you as well,” Arthur replies, his voice sad. “Don’t do it for me. Or anyone else for that matter. Do it for yourself. I have to go,” he whispers, standing up. Lucas’ hand slides off his shoulder and falls limply to his side. Lucas watches Arthur go until he disappears completely.
The conversation with Arthur has been long postponed. Way too long.
Lucas turns towards the table and is met by three pairs of eyes watching him curiously.
“Did you hear all of it?” He scrunches his nose up.
“More or less,” Basile says apologetically.
“We told him that maybe it wasn’t the best moment, but Lucas, he’s right,” Yann tells him, frowning.
“You can’t just let the things flow. Sometimes you have to take control of your own fate,” Eliott adds, looking at Lucas meaningfully. Almost daring. As if he was saying I did it last Friday, can you?
Can he?
 ***
Arthur is pretty much avoiding Lucas for the next two days. But in a way other people don’t notice. They hang out as a group, but Arthur doesn’t engage in conversations with Lucas, doesn’t pay him attention nor does he ask questions. For someone who didn’t know them, it’d look as if nothing’s changed, but Lucas can’t be fooled.
Lucas knows Arthur is upset. So do Basile and Yann who prompt him to talk it out. Eliott doesn’t say anything, but he must sense something is off if his confused looks are anything to go by.
Lucas catches Arthur after their shared biology lesson on Wednesday. It’s not easy since Arthur literally bolts out of the classroom like he knew that Lucas wants to talk with him. Fortunately, he’s stopped by someone also being in a hurry and bumping into him on their way.
The time during which Arthur gathers his bearings is enough for Lucas to reach him and clasp a hand on his shoulder. Arthur freezes and looks around, but when he notices it’s only Lucas, he huffs with irritation.
“We need to talk,” Lucas says and starts pushing Arthur forward, not taking no for an answer.
“Maybe I don’t want to talk,” Arthur retorts but doesn’t do anything to get away. So he’s not completely opposed to talking. Good. Lucas will take anything he can.
Lucas wants to have this conversation in private, which isn’t easy to obtain when one’s at school. Luckily for them, Arthur nods in the direction of a secluded place right under the stairs leading to the first floor. As far as Lucas knows, people usually use it to make out between the lessons, but this time it’s empty.
Once they approach the place, they slide down to the floor. Arthur leans his head back against the wall and sighs.
The stairs make them hidden from prying eyes. Lucas is very much thankful for that as he watches the distressed lines on Arthur’s face.
“I’m sorry,” Lucas decides to say and Arthur raises one of his eyebrows. He opens his mouth to say something, but Lucas stops him before any sound could leave his throat. “I didn’t consider how this could make you feel. Despite, you know, the usual, feeling guilty about being a burden for you and you getting hurt because of me. I didn’t stop to think about how else it could have had affected you. That’s why I’m sorry,” he finishes, tugging nervously at his fingers. He senses Arthur watching him from the side, but he can’t bring himself to look back at him.
“Lucas, it’s not about how we feel. I mean, yeah, it was terrifying. But it’s more about how dismissive you are. Like, your bruises will fade, but it’ll stay with you forever. You can’t just ignore it and pretend everything is okay. For your own sake, you shouldn’t be doing it,” Arthur says, pinching the bridge of his nose with his fingers. “It’s pissing me off. Because if something like that happened to one of us, you wouldn’t let it go,” he pauses to take a deep breath. “And I feel like I failed you. As your friend, as a part of your community. I couldn’t do anything, but watch all those things happen to you. I’m…” he curls up his hands into fists, “…filled with shame and rage. And despite that, I’m still helpless,” he says, his voice barely above a whisper. He’s looking down on his lip, his expression defeated.
Lucas is reminded once again of how Eliott mentioned to him Arthur’s feelings before. How Arthur feels responsible. Only now Lucas notices how much it must have been weighing him down. He reaches out his hand and wraps his fingers around Arthur’s. Arthur perks up at that and looks towards him.
“None of it is your fault. Stop blaming yourself. You haven’t failed me, not at all. You and the guys have always been by my side. If you keep thinking about it, it won’t end up well. Believe me,” he snorts, “I know from my own experience. And I– I want justice. I really do. I just. Don’t want to dwell on it, I guess. That’s been always my method when I had to deal with my problems. I’m not as brave as I wish I was,” he mutters and shrugs.
Arthur rolls his eyes.
“You’ve been through so much shit and you came out of it alive. So you are fucking brave,” he says boldly and squeezes Lucas’ hand. “And I know I shouldn’t think about it so much but I can’t stop it. I keep telling myself that if I had known sooner I–“
“You couldn’t have known sooner because I did everything I could to hide it from all of you. There’s no reason for you to feel guilty over something you had no control of. Literally. And shit happened to me after everyone found out. You couldn’t have done anything. So stop feeling guilty.”
Lucas is aware of how messy this whole conversation is, but regardless of that he can see Arthur clearly following. He may not be convinced, yet. But it’s the same as when Mika talked with Lucas. A starting point. Lucas can’t get rid of Arthur’s guilt with a couple of words, but he can plant a seed in his mind and let it grow. As long as they’re communicating, that’s what’s important.
A few beats of silence pass before either of them speaks. But the quiet isn’t suffocating. Lucas knows Arthur is processing everything he’s heard and trying to make sense of it. It’s more he could ask for.
“I can’t promise you I will, but I’m going to try?” Arthur says finally, his voice full of uncertainty.
Lucas nods, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “That’s fair. And I’ll think about going to the police, okay?”
“Fine, fine, but don’t think too long,” Arthur says teasingly and puts his head on Lucas’ shoulder. They rest there for a little while, in their small bubble. Lucas feels content.
 ***
Lucas’ eyes continue jumping towards the entrance of the café every time he hears the little bell above the door jiggle. His palms are sweaty and he’s sitting uncomfortably straight on his chair. His hands are fiddling with a napkin and he checks the time every few minutes.
Both he and his mother decided that meeting up in a quiet and neutral place would be the most appropriate. Neither of them associates any hard feelings with this café, there aren’t too many people to feel anxious about and if one of them wishes to leave earlier, there are no bounds holding them down. It’s perfect.
He’s come much earlier than he should have, too nervous to wait any longer in the flat. He’s been pacing ever since he came back from school. He needed to get out. But now he’s stuck there, waiting for God knows how long before his mom will appear. He hasn’t thought it out too well.
He’s so caught up in his thoughts that he doesn’t even notice a woman sitting across from him. He jumps when she taps him on the shoulder and his head snaps up.
At first, he doesn’t recognise her. She’s smiling softly at him, her eyes surrounded by wrinkles. Her hair reaches the tips of her ears and is curled up at the ends. There’s a hint of lipstick on her lips and eyeshadow adorning her eyes. She looks elegant, sophisticated.
Lucas is staring at the woman and the images in his mind don’t match with the one in front of him. Last time he saw his mother, her hair was damaged and shoulder-length, she had bags under her eyes and her cheeks were sunken. Her skin was ashen. She looked like one bad move could break her.
Now she’s radiating life and Lucas feels like he’s sitting with a stranger. He doesn’t know how to act.
She tilts her head to the side and squints her eyes at him. Lucas thinks that she’s going to yell at him for something he’s done, be angry, but all she does is reach out her hand and brush her knuckles over his face. Lucas initially flinches away from the gesture, unprepared, but once he’s relaxed, he leans into her touch. It feels like coming home and there’s a pang in his chest when his mom pulls her hand away.
She scowls, watching him carefully. “I hope you will tell me everything that’s happened,” she says, opening the menu.
His mom orders a cup of green tea and a piece of cake all the while Lucas gets himself some hot chocolate. They are quiet while waiting for their drinks, avoiding each other’s eyes. Lucas has no idea why it’s so hard when they’re both determined to make things work. Maybe the wounds between them run way too deep.
The moment the waitress brings their orders and leaves, Lucas decides there’s no point in waiting any longer and he launches into the story. He starts from the very beginning – the drunken kiss– goes on to say how much Eliott’s appearance affected him and then how he was struggling with paying off the blackmailer. How his head was a mess for many reasons and he thought he was going to explode one day. Lucas talks about the night he slept with a girl because that’s what he thought was right. He doesn’t hide the way his father kept dismissing him, how it led to his breakdown and Lucas hurting himself. Lucas doesn’t skip any details, he doesn’t want to even if it’s hard to be so vulnerable. His drink stays untouched and his throat goes drier with each uttered word, but he pushes forward. Despite his shame and his voice wavering, he reaches the aftermath of the pictures being leaked. His hands are trembling when he talks about people’s treatment of him, their ostracising looks and verbal attacks. By the time he’s speaking about the boys throwing the ball at him and later on beating him up, Lucas feels detached. He finishes his story with a loud and shaky exhale, his heart pounding fast in his chest.
He’s not looking at his mom, keeping his eyes on his mug. He needs a moment or two to compose himself after pouring his heart out like that. He’s already told people about what happened, but it’s never been the whole story in one sitting. Lucas is exhausted. Completely spent.
He reaches out for his mug and takes a sip. The hot chocolate is lukewarm now and Lucas frowns. At least it doesn’t taste horrible.
“When you were saying all of that, I thought it can’t get worse, but with each sentence it did and I just can’t believe that you had to go through it alone,” Lucas’ mother says grimly after a few minutes pass. He looks up at her, but she’s avoiding his eyes. The expression on her face reminds Lucas so much of how Arthur looked for the past weeks. He can’t let another person in his life blame themselves for something that isn’t their fault. He can’t.
“I didn’t want to drag anyone into this. But even when people had no idea what was going on, they still offered their support. So it’s not like I was completely alone. Especially after everything went down, they had my back,” he says, shrugging, and hopes it’ll reassure her slightly.
“But I’m your mom,” she only mumbles, her voice sad. She’s staring at her palms, but her eyes feel distant.
“You tried to reach out to me. I wasn’t ready then. I’m glad you were willing to wait.”
She glances up at him, confused.
“I’d wait for you no matter how long,” she admits. “I should have been there in the first place.”
Lucas sighs, watching her slumped form. Maybe it was a mistake, maybe she isn’t strong enough and now Lucas is going to only make her feel worse. Maybe they won’t see each other for yet another year.
“I know it may sound harsh, but I can’t have you wallowing in self-pity now. I told you all of that because I need you,” Lucas says weakly, already prepared to get figuratively slapped in the face. He was foolish for thinking they could rebuild their relationship. Perhaps they truly are strangers. “I shouldn’t have put it on you,” he adds. His father always repeated that he shouldn’t give his mother more stress than necessary and Lucas should have listened, doesn’t matter how much of a scum his father is.
“No, Lucas, no. You should have. I want you to talk to me, to trust me. It’s just not easy listening to my son going on about getting hurt this much. It’d pain any parent,” she says, sniffing and Lucas gazes at her. He notices her eyes shimmering with tears and something breaks in him. “I want to be present in your life if you let me. I want to try to be the parent you need. Even if… even if I lack, I want to–“
“You are enough,” he cuts in, reaching out for her hand and squeezing. At this point, Lucas’ own eyes are watery, but he doesn’t pay it any mind. “Thank you,” he adds and gets a sad smile in return.
“I should be the one thanking you. You gave me another chance,” she states, gripping Lucas’ hand tightly as if she was scared that letting go would mean losing him.
He was wrong for thinking they can’t fix it and assuming the worst about her. She wants to be in his life, she wants to be his mother and that’s what’s important. He’s so relieved.
Lucas wipes a few strays tears that spilled from his eyes and snorts. “You gave me another one, too,” he mutters with a sheepish smile. He sees her bafflement, looking at Lucas as if he’s grown another head. “I left you,” he explains and these three words are what makes his mom cry. It’s not sad crying, he thinks when she ends up laughing during it. It’s hopeful crying, crying at how messed up the things between them have been but in the end, they managed to find each other again. Lucas joins her soon after, feeling much lighter after everything and he doesn’t even care about the looks people are giving them.
“I love you so much,” his mom says between sobs and reaches into her bag for a pack of tissues. She gives one to Lucas and blows her nose into the second.
“I love you, too,” Lucas replies, looking at her fondly.
They will have to put a lot of effort into making their relationship work since they missed so many years, but Lucas is certain that they are willing to be together no matter what it takes and as long as they keep trying, it’ll be okay. They might be clumsy and hesitant in the process, but it’ll be worth it. He knows it will.
 ***
Thanks to everything Lucas has been going through, he’s completely forgotten about the common room and the fact they were supposed to paint the mural. He can’t be the only one since everyone besides Daphne looks out of place when she gathers them there after classes on Friday. She insisted they make a plan so the wall isn’t bare for the next few months. Some arrangements are made that Lucas tunes out of. He will ask the guys later.
His eyes are rather preoccupied now, focused on one strand of hair that looks too tamed on Eliott’s head. It’s plastered to the side of his head instead of sticking out. Eliott couldn’t have deliberately missed it when he was styling his hair in the morning. Lucas knows because despite the coolness Eliott is going for, he wakes up earlier to do his hair. He told Lucas about it when they were high.
So what happened that now his hairstyle looks asymmetrical but not in the good, messy way? Lucas supposes that everything would be fine if only Eliott ran his fingers through his hair. But much to Lucas’ displeasure, Eliott’s hands are safely tucked in his pockets and it doesn’t seem likely that he’s going to take them out any time soon. It’s okay, Lucas could do it himself. In addition, he’d see if Eliott’s hair is any soft or the product makes it rough.
Ugh, Lucas isn’t about to go up to Eliott and fix his hair. That would be weird and make everything awkward. Especially that Daphne is giving some speech and Lucas has already been acting odd around Eliott despite his best efforts not to. He hasn’t put any distance between them, no, but he keeps staring too much, watching Eliott and taking forever to say something coherent to him. It won’t take long for Eliott to notice. That is, if he hasn’t already caught up on something.
Lucas is awful. He’s going to lose his friend if he doesn’t get his shit together. For fuck’s sake, he isn’t some straight dude that has just found out about his friend crushing on him. He should be more understanding towards Eliott, give him normal treatment. But there he is, fixating on Eliott’s hair, his fingers itching to make the plastered strand blend with the rest.
So deep in his thoughts, Lucas doesn’t register when the meeting is finished until someone nudges him in the side, startling him. It’s Yann, looking at him meaningfully and pointing towards the exit.
Lucas opens his mouth to reply but is stopped by another voice. “Lucas, can you stay for a moment? I need your help with something,” Daphne says, her voice devoid of her earlier cheerfulness.
Lucas turns around and replies, “Sure,” before looking back at Yann and shrugging.
“Okay, see you later.”
Lucas nods at Yann and watches him leave. “So what can I help you with?” Lucas asks, glancing towards Daphne and stopping in his tracks upon noticing how serious she looks like. “Everything fine?”
She takes a deep breath and steps closer to him. She’s avoiding his eyes. There’s something unnerving about her that wasn’t there a couple of minutes ago. She seems as though she’s about to crumble.
Lucas walks up to her, placing a comforting hand on her forearm. “What’s going on?”
She lets out an ugly snort. “We’re all about friendship and having each other’s back but when it comes to it I’m a coward. Absolutely the worst,” she says, her voice cracking halfway through.
Lucas watches her in confusion. “What do you mean?”
She finally looks up, her eyes filled with fear. “The pictures. I took them,” she lets out and her voice is deafening in the quiet surrounding them.
Lucas’ hand slides down.
“What?”

Ted Wheeler is a Russian Spy (Theory)
A lot of people make fun of Ted, saying how useless and unassuming he is but I honestly think this framing of his character is being done divert suspicion, not only from the viewers but from other characters in the narrative. So lets get into the possible evidence...
We are told by Mike that his father told him the Department of Energy is making “weapons to fight the commies”.  Which is in fact proven to be the case . But how does Ted know the intentions of such a secretive government facility? We aren’t sure about What Ted does for a living but whatever it is- makes a considerable amount of money- possibly something in the technology sector. Mike’s interest in tech (being the leader of the AV club) and also him knowing all about the newest technologies to a similar aptitude as Bob, who's job is related to tech -could very well show Mike inherited/was taught such traits from his father. The first scene we see of Ted is with him finicking with a tv ... and being a tech wiz would be extremely useful as a spy.
Also, it seems like Ted generally misses a lot of social cues- I don't know much about Russia, but I suppose this could be due to cultural differences. Believe it or not, Ted has been shown to care about his kids. When Will dies he asks if he should  “go talk to Michael”, and only doesn’t do so because of Karen’s advice. The next day Karen tells Mike “if you need anything, you call your father”- which implies not only did Ted tell Karen that’d he’d talk to Mike about his grief at work, but possibly go home early to help his son. Also, he helps Mike fasten his tie, and when Mike says “it’s too tight”. Ted just simply loosens it a bit and says with a smile “it has to be a little tight”. We then pan to Jonathan who can’t keep his tie on- because it not even a ‘little tight’ and is too loose.
Most of the things that people criticize about Ted seem to be due to Ted just not  understanding social cues. In s1 when Mike is yelling, saying “I’m the only one who cares about Will!” And Ted says in a deadpan tone “That’s not fair son, we care too” and plops a piece of chicken in his mouth. Causing everyone to leave. He seems genuinely confused .And says “what did I do?” And then dejectedly drops his fork.
Generally, his tone and inflection come across as extremely deadpan/uncaring at times, which could simply be because this isn’t actually his first language- or because if he gets too emotional his accent will seep through .
Also in s2, when Mike is acting out and Ted is giving horrible advice filled with  football/coach analogies, and the old phrase “if you’re friend jumped off a cliff would you do it too”, seemed so forced- like he was just repeating what he heard on tv. I MEAN, let’s be honest, does Ted come across as any type of ex football-star-athlete to you?! Or, does he come across, as someone who would of been a tech-obsessed nerd in high school (just like his son). Who, in cannon, is the least athletic of all the boys- he has terrible aim (he completely missed throwing a rock at a bully) and when the boys ran to the trashcan to see what Max threw in it (if you rewatch the scene, Mike is literally 20 paces behind everyone else, but the only one out of breath XD) and he canonically hates sports. We actually know nothing of Ted Wheeler’s highshcool or college days (as an athlete), only what he’s told his family- since Karen met Ted when he was already working.
Also if we’re supposed to genuinely believe Ted is supposed to be this macho dad who wants to force his son to be a stereotypical ideal of manhood-like his football pep talk implied. I find it interesting how other macho fathers responded to their sons not acting in lines with stereotypical masculinity. Billy and Will’s father’s were verbally and physically abusive calling them “fags and queers”. While Ted simply jokes “Impossible ... our son with a girl” laughing at his own joke. (Lol, he probably didn’t mean it like that ... but let’s just pretend it’s cannon that Ted is the least homophobic dad in Stranger things XD)
Also, him pretending to be a a Regan supporting republican makes a lot of sense, since it would of been the polar opposite ideology of communists. Regeanomics “was the belief that tax breaks and benefits for corporations and the wealthy would trickle down to everyone else”. While communism’s economic model (in theory, not practice) was “designed to allow the poor to rise up and attain financial and social status equal to that of the middle-class landowners. In order for everyone to achieve equality, wealth was redistributed so that the members of the upper class are brought down to the same financial and social level as the middle class.” Another caveat is the fact that republicans (and most people at the time) were extremely racist- and conservatives like Regean at the time deemed Nelson Mandela a “terrorist”. In opposition to this, the Soviet Union was at the forefront of the anti-colonial and anti-apartheid movements and the Soviet Union was also the biggest benefactor of the African National Congress (ANC)- that Mandela was a member of. During a state visit, Mandela even expressed gratitude for the “solidarity of the Russian people in the South African fight against apartheid and for freedom.”
So if Ted has an actual conservative ideology, and not the more communist one. Why does he have no problems with living right next door to a black family. And not only that, having Lucas be one of his son’s best friends who spends almost every weekend at their house for 8-12 hours a day? While Billy, who probably emulates his father (who seems old fashioned and conservative) said about Lucas “those aren’t the right people to be associating with”.If Ted was a communist who believed in the idea of a world “devoid of sexism, racism and other forms of oppression”, some of his contradictory behavior would make much more sense.
His good old “republican-patriotic attitude” almost seems like a characture of what a Russian would assume they’d be like. The fact that his first comment about seeing Eleven was “My god, is she Russian?” , without any proof, seems almost like he was trying to divert suspicion. Or, this is how he assumed a real republican would act amidst all the “Russian hysteria”. The fact that Ted says “They’re our government we can trust them”, may have very well been been a calculated maneuver on his part-if he assumed his house (like Hopper’s) was bugged. Also in s2, when the government says not to tell anyone of the incident, he salutes them (again very over the top). But, he later tells a coworker about “the Russian girl who stayed in their house”. Why would he do this if he’s an actual ‘over-the-top republican patriot’, who trusts his government ?
Well,  I actually think he was taking a well calculated risk-  exposing such government secrets would clearly be illegal, but why would a Russian spy talk to his coworkers about accidentally housing one? He may of even played it up talking about the ‘Russian threat’. He knew it would get back to the Government agents- and this would divert suspicion of him being part of a sleeper cell.
*Also, if Ted is a good old republican conservative, I find it interesting that we never see the family pray or see a single cross in their house.
Essentially I believe Ted does care for his family, but a lot of himself is a fake facade- his past as an athlete and his republican affiliation/values are all there to build the allusion of what Nancy describes as the perfect “nuclear family.”

It didn't take too long before the two of you officially started dating. It felt almost unreal. You and Steve had this great chemistry that was always radiating with tenderness. It was like this vibrancy that never failed to make the two of you beam with smiles of blissfulness. You always laughed wholeheartedly around him and he did the same around you too. Steve was happy. You were happy. You fit together like a lock and key.
You and Steve had been together for almost a month now. You had acquainted yourself with his friends, as well as the odd band of kids that always dragged him into their shenanigans. You found the playful dynamic between Steve, the absolute worst designated authority figure, and the stubborn kids to be humorous. You'd often tease him and call him 'Momma Steve.' He hated the nickname, but since it was you he let it stick, but God forbid one of the kids call him that.
Steve and you still had differences though, he liked sports and you were the furthest thing from a sports fanatic. You preferred science fiction films and he always seemed fatigued by the genre. Nevertheless, you always managed to talk him into watching your favourite films, he was honestly such a marshmallow around you, it was adorable.
On most movie nights Steve would fall asleep on your lap while you talked his ear off about how certain frames were shot or how the effects were done. Steve may have hated your choice in movies but he loved to fall asleep to the sound of your soothing voice on the comfort of your lap. He felt a sense of contentment around you.
Tonight was one of those movie nights. It was Steve's turn to host film night and since his parents were out of town again you had the whole house to yourselves. The two of you had decided to shake things up and watch a romantic comedy instead of the usual gorry science-fiction films you loved.
Steve wasn't paying much attention to the TV and neither were you, to be honest. You stroked Steve's perfect hair in gentle, languid strokes while he massaged your leg idly, he was slowly falling asleep and you couldn't help but gush at his adorable half-sleeping face. Out of habit, you were instinctively drawn to him, placing a kiss on his forehead. He murmured something under his breath that sounded like "Olive juice," you tittered at his cuteness.
All of a sudden the entrance burst open and a troop of kids came pouring into the house, leaving you looking dumbfounded. It was Hawkins' very own AV Club members. They were arguing about something.
"I'm just saying how can you not realise that your son looks exactly like the guy who was friends with you in high school?" Lucas queried amongst his group of friends.
"I mean obviously they noticed some resemblance, why else would they name Marty after Marty?" Dustin offered, he was wearing his signature red, blue and white hat.
"I dunno. I think his mom named him Marty because she thought he was responsible for her and George getting together," A red-haired girl argued.
"But then why not name Marty's older brother Marty?" Mike questioned with a hint of snark in his words.
After sorting through the context clues, you were able to figure out what they were talking about, "Are you guys talking about Back to the Future?" You asked excitedly.
All six kids turned to look at you, previously unaware of you and Steve lounging silently. You had been drowned out by the sounds coming from the TV. Steve made an unamused noise as he groggily got up off your lap. He blinked, confused for a second, and then he realised he wasn't hallucinating after all and his face took on a piqued expression.
"What are you guys doing here?" Steve protested.
Dustin looked at him weirdly, "It’s Saturday. You said we could play our campaign here since Mike's mum is hosting some boring adult person thing. Probably a knitting party."
"No," Steve pointed his finger in the air, thinking back to the day Dustin was referring to, "I said that you could host game night that ONE Saturday. I didn’t offer my house as your playdate hangout spot indefinitely." He corrected.
"Well, we're here now. Deal with it," Max said all too comfortably.
"Do you see what I have to deal with?" Steve whined at you, giving you an exhausted pouty face.
"Leave them be, at least now I have someone to talk to about Back to the Future," You teased.
Steve sighed and laid back down on your lap, "Fine, but if they burn the house down or something, your ass is grass." He gave you a sneaky wink and smiled with mischief. You winked back and continued the discourse about the plot holes Back to the Future suffered from with the kids
***
As the night stretched on, the kids found themselves entertained by the cheesy film playing on the TV. Before you knew it the whole party was sitting cross-legged or slumped over the remaining chairs, popcorn spilt all over the carpet and candy wrappers tossed about. Eleven kept herself busy by toasting an entire box of Eggos which she shared with Mike and no one else. The kids would laugh every so often when something cheesy happened.
Steve, having been disturbed from his nap was idly twining and untwining your fingers together. You were twirling that one stubborn strand of his as you stared bored at the TV. You watched one of the secondary characters of the film get the lights punched out of him and for some reason all the boys and Max -but excluding Eleven- burst out laughing.
"Oh My God! The guy who looks like a dollar store version of Steve just got knocked out, just like when Billy wiped the floor with you," Lucas balled up laughing. Steve tensed, embarrassment and betrayal showing in his eyes.
"Wait, you and Billy Hargrove fought? And you, king of sport, lost?" You asked, unable to believe what Lucas had just let slip.
Steve shot up quickly, he gave Lucas a death stare but then quickly turned his attention back to you, "It's not like that. I wasn't on my A-Game. I could have taken him."
"Sure, Harrington. You just thought it would be better if Max knocked him out with a tranquiliser instead, huh?" Dustin teased, his words all sarcasm and zero sincerity. Mike choked on his popcorn mid-chuckle, he managed to flow a few popped cornels in your direction. Eleven just looked confused and Will looked like he didn't know what everybody was going on about.
"Wait. You got knocked out and Max saved the day? How old is she anyway, like 12?" Your eyes were wide and a humorous grin spread across your face.
"Hey!" Max protested.
"And the time when he screamed like a girl after he woke up to Max driving the car!" Lucas added more insult to injury. Dustin gave a nasal snort.
You just looked at the young redhead completely amazed at how much of a badass she really was, though for some reason you felt as though the one who really put the rest to shame was Eleven. She may have been quite and constantly confused by things, but there was something about her that just oozed quiet badass.
"Unbelievable, I agree to let you little shitheads stay during date night and this is how you thank me?" Steve's hands were on his hips and his head was craned forward. He had that 'Momma Steve' disapproving look. You grabbed a couch cushion to hide the painful grin that refused to subside.
The back and forth bickering continued for a good twenty minutes. You had laughed so hard the entire time your lungs burned and your cheeks hurt. You decided to excuse yourself by getting something to drink. You needed a breather from all the craziness that had disrupted movie night.
On your way into the kitchen, Will shouted over the loud banter something that sounded like, "A gassy Otter."
You paused and turned around, "Did you just ask for a gassy Otter?" You gave Will a quizzical look. He just shook his head and beamed an adorable smile at you.
Lucas looked at you and shouted in his usual shrill shout: "He said a glass of water!"
"Oh," you whispered, slightly embarrassed about your having misheard Will. As you grabbed the stuff from the kitchen your mind raced back to that moment when you thought Steve had whispered 'Olive Juice' at you. You found it quite amusing how Olive juice sounded vaguely like 'I love you.'
And then it clicked. The initial shock of the revelation that Steve had absentmindedly just told you he loved you earlier made your grip on the glass go limp and the next thing you heard was glass shattering. Everyone raced from the living room into the kitchen, looks of worry on all their faces.
"Hey, Y/N, are you okay?" Steve wrapped his arms around your waist, his embrace warm. You looked up at him and smiled, you'd keep that little revelation of his to yourself for now. It would be your precious little secret. To chase the worry away from his brow you placed a peck on Steve's clean-shaven cheek and gave an adorable giggle.
"Butterfingers," you waved your ten digits in his face, he rolled his eyes playfully. The kids groaned and made their way back to the TV. With the two of you alone in the kitchen, you took the opportunity to kiss Steve properly this time. In the background, you heard Max shout for the two of you to get a room. The both of you laughed into the kiss. And there it was again, that wonderful feeling of bliss.
Christmas Special is HERE!
MASTERPOST
As Always: Hope you enjoyed it. Feedback is welcomed and some line about tag lists... :)
P.S:  I have already started thinking up a storm for a Christmas special where the reader and Steve wear matching ugly sweaters and have to go through an awkward family dinner. KFC anyone? LOL Since it’s Christmas themed, we have to wait a while for it!
