just kind of staring into space after the season 2 finale that was crazyyy i loved it so much

Yeah! In my opinion, one of dreams biggest skills is that, when he's given advice/tips/strats, or has time to develop a strat on his own, he's very good at implementing it. Or if he does struggle initially, he can correct it pretty quickly and doesn’t require as much practice. I think the best and most recent example would be him using sams tip in rocket spleef during mcc, it took him a try or two to get the hang of it, but he instantly shot up in the leaderboards after.

He didn't have any help during genshin, including no tutorial, but I'm sure once he picked up on what worked and what didn't work, he got good at sticking to it. I think thats why he seems clueless when he plays new games, because he’s usually jumping in feet first with no tutorial, or he isn’t taking it seriously in the same way he is with minecraft.

I guess I just think dream has the potential to be very good at a lot of games if he really wanted to, especially movement based games^o^

man i wanted ffxv comrades for the longest time. fun fact but like. it's been less ever since i got into ffxiv but i've always been super into games w character customization (bcs ocs or self-insert stuff lol) !! so all mmos i've gotten into (most on mobile bcs i never really was a pc gamer </3 or played online games on ps until xiv) are bcs of the character customization actually. even ffxiv (but also esp bcs i love final fantasy). man i hope i can get ffxiv comrades sometime ??

So... I finally started playing Disco Elysium

ANYWAY personality swap verona au anyone? its more of a personality inversion since i didn't swap their personalities with one another (og idea by @quejicadelapulpa)... more info ⬇️

idk why when i invert their personalities they become depressed, evil, or both but 😭 i'll go in depth on each of them

Tybalt: he was always a clown but swapbalt is quite literally a clown (he prefers jester). his personality is basically mercutio: playful, friendly, but still prim since i don't see why that would change about him i mean he's still absolutely loaded 🤑 also he loves annoying mercutio, especially since it's not like he'll get his ass whooped if he starts to throw hands (since, yk, tybalt is JACKED)

Mercutio: what i meant when i said they turn depressed when i invert their personalities 💀 swapcutio is a man of few words. he probably speaks very quietly too, only ever getting loud when he's pissed at tybalt. speaking of, he's not as hot-headed as og tybalt mostly cuz i didn't want to just swap their personas and call it a day. nah this is much funnier. i feel bad for him though i mean he's got this fucking clown constantly bothering him and there's nothing he can do about it

Romeo: he's giving pascal and i'm so sorry ab that. anyway this is where i delve more into personal hcs about personality since some of these sims weren't given much originally. i see romeo as a pretty smart kid so i didn't change that about him. i also see him as a bit immature but his wit makes up for that and that's how he's able to charm people. while swapmeo is mature, he is unfortunately quite uncharismatic so who tf knows how he pulled juliette. he's still a romance sim tho so he has his ways...

Juliette: not too much about her. i originally saw her as a little hot-headed similar to tybalt, so i decided to commit to that and make her a very mellow and chill individual. no more raging at online shooter games for her ! swapiette also wears very comfy clothes unlike juliette and dont u worry i kept her uggs. they're simply too iconic 😩

Miranda: she's basically more like her mother. this is where i was conflicted like do i swap the adults' personalities as well?? regardless, swapiranda (i need to stop) is a good christian girl 😌 as you can see she did not dye her hair in this universe and same with hermia but we'll get there. i also removed her beautiful shades SORRY but they're still there in spirit with the blue of her nails. i think swapiranda has that sweet exterior but a snakeish interior in terms of personality

Hermia: i exchanged the goth aesthetic for something more pastel and trendy for the time. you could say swapmia is a bit like og juliette in terms of personality. ooh maybe she doesn't dislike her brother in this universe! though i can see her and juliette getting tired of his smileyness. also yess swapmia's hair is her natural blonde it fits her vibe more.

Puck: last and certainly not least, evil puck 😍 the poor residents of swap veronaville cuz this kid... to me, og puck is kind, shy, dedicated to their tasks but dreadfully incompetent. you'd think he's the media's idea of a fairy- playful and mischievous, but he is surprisingly the opposite. THEN THERE'S SWAP PUCK. absolutely devious. despicable. he plays pranks and they are fucking mean pranks (not as far as battery acid in pop tho 💀 that's one of their cruel jokes. pls tybalt is not actually drinking battery acid) who KNOWS what swapmia sees in them. maybe she's evil too lmfao

anyway that's what i got. tell me why typing this drained 54% of my battery. apple is wild. maybe i'll do st but that's a hell of a lot of work

genuinely do not understand the number of people who think Steve Harrington has not seen Star Wars at all, much less not multiple times. He literally has a secret handshake with Dustin involving lightsabers- a handshake STEVE initiates when they're reunited, implying he's not just playing along with Dustin, he's excited about it. When Keith asks him about his top movies, and he says Star Wars and then is kind of a ditz about what they're about, it's not because he's lying and they aren't his favorite. It's not because he's never seen them and he's trying to get the job or look cool to Keith. They're literally some of his favorite movies because he watched them with Dustin and he loves that little shit. And yeah, he probably genuinely didn't Get everything about them, but he doesn't need to. He gets enough to know that watching them with Dustin may have genuinely been one of the best experiences of his life.

Because, like, how do you think Tommy and Carol watched movies? I can guarantee you it wasn't with their whole hearts. I can guarantee you it wasn't with wonder. I can also guarantee you that Steve wasn't allowed to watch things that way in their presence, either, not with "aww king steve has a heart" carol, not with Tommy cackling over him showing one (1) emotion. Dustin nerding out over, like, basically everything, getting genuinely excited about the special effects or the plot or the characters, and encouraging Steve when he thinks the fight scenes are cool or when Steve tentatively makes a connection about something in the plot? Steve actually feeling like he has common ground with Dustin? Hell, Steve finally feeling like he has common ground at all with the person watching along with him? Don't even get me started on the fact that he got so comfortable in his love for them that he blurted out "the one with the teddy bears!" to Keith, as if he has just been allowed to like the cute, fluffy Ewoks not only without being judged, but alongside someone else that enjoys them- because I'd bet Dustin likes them, too.

And like. idk how many of you have seen Animal House, it's an old movie. It's a comedy about frat house shenanigans, and an obvious choice for who Steve used to be because you need zero thoughts to watch it. Of course that's the first thing out of his mouth, he's probably watched it a dozen times with Tommy, doesn't even have to really think. But when Keith makes him focus and actually think? And he names Star Wars? Listen I've seen the original movies at least 20 times each, my best friend when I was a kid was (and is) obsessed with those movies (when I grew up it was only those three). We biked around pretending to be xwings. He had every star wars toy it seemed like. We played a computer game where you ran missions as a pilot and he'd fly and I'd man the keyboard so we could turn the 1-person 1st-person shooter into a two person play. Like, my childhood was jurassic park and star wars. And I genuinely couldn't tell you the sub-titles of the three movies, definitely not the order. The fact that Steve doesn't immediately recognize "a new hope" as the title of one of the movies doesn't mean he didn't LOVE them.

idk man! I just love the thought of Steve actually really liking Star Wars. And maybe he doesn't really Get them in the same way Dustin or the other kids, or even Eddie and Robin would Get them, but I think he genuinely does like them in his own Steve way, and I think it's only half because they're good movies. I think a lot of it has to do with having seen them with Dustin and the bonding experience that came with it.

definitely also enjoys slasher games

simply judging by the way he enjoyed that bloodbath on the Campania, he'd looooooove extremely violent games

idk, I don't know too many in that genre, but Dead by Daylight could be one of his faves

but nothing with guns. Those things are beneath him. He wants the real thrill of the kill

Playing Borderlands 2 with @rox-and-prose yesterday we also ended up talking about tabletop RPGs and what Borderlands has to offer to those types of games. This is still very vague and up in the air, but it resulted in at least a couple different half-formed ideas:

The genre of looter shooters is fun! It's also fun when you end up finding new random guns, each weirder than the last. @efangamez's GRIM already has the mechanics in place to support quick and brutal shooter gameplay, so the only thing it really needs to be turned into a looter shooter is the addition of random procedures for generating strange guns. This is something I want to explore further for this month's GRIM jam.

Shotguns are fun cause when you fire a shell it explodes into multiple pellets (or shots? idk) and there's nothing more satisfying than seeing an enemy eat like a dozen or so individual pellets in the face. But how do you model this in a tabletop RPG in a way where it isn't a hassle to calculate? Simple enough: each pellet does a set number of damage and the "damage" roll is to determine how many pellets hit. Most shotguns will fire like 1d6 or 1d8 pellets per shell, but you might even find a fucked up shotgun that fire 1d20 pellets per shell.

If you want to have a separate to-hit roll then better hits translate to advantage on the "how many pellets hit" roll (roll twice and use the better result) with the possibility of getting good hits being higher at short ranges. Or if you don't want that extra granularity and want to make it so there's ONLY a damage roll and no separate attack roll, just make it so the damage roll has advantage at short range (and conversely disadvantage at long range).

Still relates to shotguns, but you'll want damage numbers that have easy factors: 1, 2, 5, 10 imo. Those numbers are effortless to multiply for most people. Like, obviously a damage number of 7 isn't impossible to multiply, but like it can result in little speedbumps which do add up eventually.

The latter idea I think would merit almost an entire game of its own built around it although I could also see it being hacked into GRIM. GRIM as written does handle this stuff much more abstractly for understandable reasons, which is why I do think this idea about shotguns might be best left to fester a bit for now.

mankind is dead. blood is fuel. hell is full.

THE LORE OF ULTRAKILL ONLY SLIGHTLY LESS SUMMARIZED (still very summarized and i might get some things wrong):

during ww1, various countries involved began developing machines that ran on blood. each new machine created was meant to be stronger than the last one. in the end, this led to the creation of the earthmover by japan, which was an absolutely giant machine. so large that people started living on top of them. before the war ended, only one machine was created, though it never got a chance to fulfill its purpose of defeating the earthmover: this machine was called v1, and its unique ability was to heal upon contact with blood from any source. when the war was over, a different version of v1, named v2, was created for the purpose of keeping peace. these are v1 and v2.

now, eventually, humanity discovered an entrence to hell. don't question it. also hell is a living organism.

then, somehow, humanity died. all of it. everyone was dead. and all that remained were the machines they'd created.

in ultrakill, a first-person shooter video game, you play as v1, and your goal is simple: blood. you just want more blood. and you are in hell. so you start ultrakilling everybody. it's also based on dante's inferno, so that's fun.

in the post i made, i said alice is like v2 to me. this is mostly because v2 is an important character, but not a very powerful boss fight, and alice is a very lore-relevant character, but not very high up on the corporate ladder. but also because v2's purpose was to maintain peace and order, but she didn't get to fulfill that purpose. everyone died. v2 is, even though she never admits or acknowledges it, very possibly the only machine with the capacity to truly miss humanity. idk why, but that reminds me a lot of alice dyer. make of that what you will.

now. the other character i mentioned is THE FERRYMAN. THIS GIRL->

basically ferrymen are sinners from the layer of wrath deemed worthy of redemption by heaven. they're tasked with carrying passengers through the afterlife. another fun bit of ferryman lore is that they all tear their skin off from shame, but heaven grants them a holy cloth to cover their faces. pretty simple, yeah? but this one looks a bit bored. probably because she was promised she could go to heaven if she carried enough passengers, but...no more passengers are coming through. because humanity is dead.

the ferryman is considered a slightly more difficult boss fight, or maybe just one slightly later in the game than both v2 fights (you fight v2 twice), but you can actually literally just. pay her to leave. toss some coins at her and you can literally just skip the fight.

i can't articulate why she reminds me of lena but. she does.

so anyways all of this and i haven't even gotten to gabriel. there is so much lore. there's an excellent video explaining all of it that i can send a link to if i've caught ur interest with this.

oh also a lot of people ship v2 and the ferryman.

oh also neither of them canonically go by she/her pronouns but it's a very very common headcanon, and i'm pretty sure hakita (the developer) gave a shout out to the she/her v2 headcanon specifically at some point.

What about Erin ‘Spider-Gwen’ Hasko — a Spider-Woman who like Gwen Poole is a girl from (a version of) the real world where she was an actor playing Spider-Woman before being recruited by the Web Warriors to become a real one. No powers so to speak of, just three martial arts and some web-shooters she has to be careful with (what with a physique no greater-than-that of Hollywood-trainer-level, which is still pretty good, enough for herself to hold her own): anyway, I feel an interaction between her, the real Gwen Stacy, and Gwen Poole, could be quite fun.

TBH I needed to google her since I did most of my marvel comics reading like a 10 tears ago and wiki says she only appeared in two issues of Web Warriors in 2016. Which may not be accurate but oh do I feel you my friend. Neat little character that had potential that went underutilized. That's comic books for you :<

I don't know anything about her so I most likely won't draw her but I must say

her suit may be slightly overdesigned (thank you movies influence? i guess) but i really dig the turtleneck/bandana idk-how-to-call-it thingie. It goes nicely with the hood. oh and the pink blue pattern under her arms is neat :3
