loved loved loved the mimzy fic! i was curious: are there any other characters/relationships in hazbin you're really interested in writing about but haven't quite found the right inspiration? and one follow up question: where do you usually get inspiration for your fics (art, other works, comments, random lightning bolt in the middle of the night, etc.)

Well, aside from the scheduled weekly breakdown I have about desperately wanting to write soggy Lucifer and Lilith hurt/comfort but not having any canon point of reference for Lilith's personality...

I've been really craving radioapple, but I've outlined like three different takes on my radioapple idea and still have liked none of them. I'm letting it percolate (read: trying to ignore it but coming back to fuss with it constantly, haha). I also just want to write more Lucifer fics in general where he interacts with the hotel crew more, but I've run into that good old trouble of wanting to do character work but not having any solid (even simple) plot ideas I like to set up as the scaffolding for said character work.

Normally my inspiration comes from things like music and just pondering what I'd personally like to see written, but the Hazbin Hotel hyperfixation has been strong enough the past couple of months that I've been going about it lightning bolt style, except if I lived in the middle of a thunderstorm. Comments, asks, art, other writing, and also just daydreaming on the way to sleep and going, "WAIT!" have all spawned something at some point, hahaha. A lot of the time, seeing good character meta posts that I want to translate into fic, also.

And thank you! I'm really happy you liked the Mimzy fic—that one in particular was inspired at first by a Reddit comment I saw about how well her presence served to further expand Alastor's characterization (on a post where people where complaining about her song interruption), which got me thinking about HER characterization in tandem.

Achi insisting he wants to take care of Karan too has been percolating in my mind for weeks 👀

yeah, it has always been my inclination to explore that dynamic since it isn't a focus of either adaptation, although the Thai version has much more of it, which I really appreciate. I keep thinking about how calm Achi was at Karan's parents' house when in that circumstance most people would be nervous about meeting the family of your significant other. Not to say internally Achi might not have been very nervous, but he put being there for Karan first and foremost and I loved seeing it.

I think there is more where that came from. And if you've read what I've written so far, I'm definitely a little preoccupied with Achi figuring out what Karan wants in different facets of their relationship haha

appreciates the arts, although not forthcoming with that. i feel like he likes literature for sure (probably quite picky with anything modern tho).

this isn't a headcanon bc its literally a fact that trueform!sukuna has stretched earlobes, but i just think its worth remembering (both because of the references to buddhism and also because they suit him)

not straight - this man (curse?) is pansexual, and maybe demiromantic? will fight homophobes

i feel like he would commit murder for misgendering uraume (who i hc as nonbinary/x-gender). if asked about it by uraume, he'd say it was because they irritated him, rather than because he's defending them in his fucked up way. i don't think uraume would ask tho.

in the heian era, i can almost see him being into making things like carvings and possibly even sculptures? he might even use his techniques for them. but i don't think he has time to be "idle" like that in modern times

this is random, but i think he might enjoy some video games, particularly violent ones. however, if he had full-control of his body, i think he'd quickly get bored and realise that he could just go do the same things irl.

while trapped inside yuuji, i think it playing violent video games could initially be a way that sukuna can be temporarily placated. however, i can see him trying to make yuuji do particularly horrific things in game, which he'd refuse and then i think he'd just get even more frustrated with his confinement.

(i had a mental image of yuuji getting sick of sukuna's urge to kill people and opening up sims 4 to show all the different ways you can kill a sim, but sukuna thinking the methods of killing were pitiful and uninspired. then, sukuna would mock yuuji for thinking that this would be enough to entertain him)

i think that he'd definitely drink, and might have even dabbled with mind altering substances in the heian period. he's a hedonist, y'know?

i feel like if you were in some kind of relationship with him (read: if he decides to keep you as his lil pet), i think he'd be very possessive. i think it'd be to the point where he wouldn't want you out of his sight, maybe even want on his lap at all times. he'd never admit it, but i think he relishes in skinship (particularly after 1000+ years of being sealed) but passes it off as ownership over you

actually i think if you catch his interest, he will go full yandere, but i think it'd take A LOT to genuinely intrigue him to that extent

i think he'd also find it refreshing to be looked at as an object of desire despite/as well as being a monster. again, he'd never admit it and would ruthlessly bully you for it, but i think he likes the ego boost

We've talked so much about kataang parenthood and the cloud babies, but I'm always up for hearing more of your thoughts on them. Really, I'd just give you that and let you talk away wherever it takes you, but how about this for more of a prompt.

Here's one that's been percolating for me lately. The cloudbabies grow up in a family that's not just their parents, but their entire community. Both Aang and Katara grew up in communities full of extended aunts/uncles/cousins (whether biological or not) surrounding them, and likewise their kids grow up on an island full of Air Acolytes that act as extended family for them. They're emersed in Air Nomad culture as a daily part of their lives. Both Aang and Katara would work to make sure they have traditional Water Tribe culture as part of their upbringing too, of course. (As you know I HC that Uncle Sokka is heavily involved in all their upbingings.)

I'd just love to hear your thoughts on anything extending form that or related.

Oh, absolutely. You knew what to send to make me go off, hahaha. Kataang as parents gets, I think, wholly misrepresented based on a couple one-off lines in LoK that were meant to show that even our favorites weren't perfect in parenthood (really, who is? I try my best but I know I fail my kids in different ways all the time), the same way the writers were able to show that each character had flaws in the original series. Aang has so much on his shoulders that OF COURSE he's not going to be able to balance that perfectly. And sometimes he (AND KATARA) will be too tired at the end of the day to think straight and might not be as attentive as they could/should be. I don't know how much of the criticisms are coming from people who are actually parents, though; who know intimately the constant daily (hourly?) pressures parents of multiple kids with widely varying personalities and needs are under. None of the parents I've talked to have felt this way.

I also love this idea of the cloudbabies being raised in a communal lifestyle, because you're right that both Aang and Katara grew up that way. Everyone always paints that as a point of conflict for Aang and Katara--that Aang wouldn't know anything of a nuclear family structure but really, as much as Katara did know that, her tribe was so close-knit that they were all like family as well. This was only amplified after the men went off to war and only the women and children were left behind. The cloudbabies probably have favorite acolytes that they run to when their parents are busy, and of course Sokka and Suki and Toph and Lin and Su are always around, too, or they're in the city visiting them.

And Aang and Katara take care of Toph's and Zuko's (and potentially Sokka's if he had any) kids like their own, too, whenever they're at their house. Once they're teens/preteens, the kids all cross the bay on the ferry themselves and hang out together when they can, and all the adults just know to feed whoever is there and have extra just in case their parents come looking. I'm reaching this stage with my oldest and I can really see Aang leaning hard into this, giving Bumi's friends a ride over on Appa when he sees them in town, telling stories from the war (maybe embellishing a bit) to Bumi's intense embarrassment but his friends' joy, making sure they have an extra fruit pie to take home to their parents after... Aang might not be anybody's pro-bending coach but you can bet he finds other ways to be involved in his kids' lives and is always so, so proud of the little humans he and Katara created, regardless of bending ability, grades, or anything else (though I hc that all the cloudbabies are pretty brilliant in school). They're going to have insecurities and complaints because they're all HUMAN, but they won't doubt for a second that they are loved ("That's one happy family")

I just finished the scripts for Succession S2 and I think some of your tags indicate you have as well. The finale script left me with two questions I thought you might have a view on. 1. Maybe it's me but I read the "summer of competitive eating disorders" line from Connor as non-literal. Like there was that one summer where everyone was messed up about food (and maybe everyone did have eating disorders) but it wasn't a literal competition. Is that a weird read? I keep seeing fics that are taking it literally so I may have misunderstood. 2. What is up with Logan being so possessive of Kendall? It's there in the episodes but the way he talks to Naomi is crazy in the scripts. I don't think Logan's really interacted like that with Tom or Willa or Tabitha - is it because Naomi is a Pierce or is it another one of those weird Kendall and Logan things?

Yeah, I have only recently finished reading the s2 scripts, and I've just started on s3. I've actually been enjoying reading them pretty slowly and percolating on them, but I was even more slowed down the last couple of weeks because my nephews were staying with me for the school holidays. It's meant most of my reading has been with and for them, haha, but I can highly recommend Mike Lowery's Bug Scouts book series for the five year olds in your life!

But yes! To your questions.

The Summer of Competitive Eating Disorders

I don't think that's a weird reading at all.

I think a lot of people have a tendency to view things mentioned on the show as very literal (the dog pound being probably the most obvious example, but also Roman's comments about being molested and all of the Roy siblings' insistence around things they did or didn't know about cruises / the wolf pack [especially after reading the s2 scripts and starting the s3 scripts, I think it's pretty heavily implied that Shiv and Roman ignore the things that they knew while Kendall does know more than them, yet not as much as he thinks. He postures his insider knowledge when his dad kept him more in the dark than he cares to admit, which of course falls apart over the course of s3).

That said, all four kids do have textual issues with food, and way back in 2022, I talked about the way the show utilises food as a symbol for power, particularly in the sense of who has it and who doesn't, which is something I stand by.

In tha sense, I think you're right - there wasn't a literal Summer of Competitive Eating Disorders, but I think the memory of it as one is probably reflective of a period of time where either Logan was particularly neglectful, or particularly present. Something abnormal that triggered a new way of dealing with food - enough for Connor to notice and remember it - and personally I'd kind of read it as the former? This is of course totally a headcanon, haha, but I could see it as the summer after Logan pushed Caroline out and the kids were left with the lingering aftermath of that.

In other words, I agree with you, haha, but I can absolutely see why it captured people's imaginations too.

Logan's possessiveness of Kendall

I actually have another ask in my inbox that I've been circling for ages on this, so I'm going to try and answer that tonight (finally!), but yes, I do think his possessiveness around Kendall is specific even among his children, and I agree that it was definitely even more explicit in the scripts.

It's an interesting sticking point that Naomi is a Pierce, but I honestly don't think that's entirely an issue - if it was Roman, for instance, I think Logan would think it was a great in or a strategic move for him, and he clearly didn't think anything of Connor's friendship and political partnership with Maxim.

Logan's possessive of all of his kids, of course, but it does feel different with Kendall, and I think there are a few reasons for that which I'll talk about in this other answer (and I'll try and link back here so it's easy to find!), but it really does make me so curious about how Logan was with Rava.

Bad, I imagine, especially because I do think the show wants us to view Rava as canonically Jewish.

I do because I'm still new enough to this that every comment has me giggling and kicking my feet, and I want the commenter to feel like their time was spent well on typing out a reaction! It also feels like a mini-conversation about my favorite thing (my work hehe).

6-What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I mean, "The One who Takes" will automatically be the angstiest because it's canon compliant, basically a canon novelization, and I spent the previous 4800 words leading up to the finale shaping the characters to deliver the maximum possible pain out of an already painful situation. I have to admit I enjoy writing angst; I enjoy happy endings but until now the main feedback I've gotten on my works and pairings is that they're "sweet" and that feels like a vital misrepresentation of my core self lol.

7-What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

"A Dream of the Woodland" probably, again canon compliancy. The two drafts I have growing won't be happy to the same extent.

8-Do you get hate on fics?

Not yet 👀

9-Do you write smut? If so what kind?

I've become a very fade to black writer after several years of struggling to walk a fine line between graphic, which I guess is the point but not always, and merely allusive, which ends up kind of...unnecessarily poetic (me staring at the sex scene in Divine Rivals, which had me convinced the writer was Christian). This is me standing on my bandbox, but unless it's explicit, I find including smut incredibly awkward. And sometimes being explicit simply doesn't fit the story, and pwp is not my thing. So I've decided to start steering clear of it until I've found a way to toe that line (Starling House comes closest to achieving this for me, but it's almost not a smut scene? Like you know they're having sex but it's so barely there? OT).

10-Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Not yet, but I'm still percolating elements for the Dean Priest x Barney Snaith x Walter Blythe fic. After that discussion about Dean being bisexual or at least closetedly in love with Douglas, that idea surged back into my consciousness again.

No, luckily. I'm not famous enough for that to happen lol.

Nope, but that sounds like a huge honor.

Oh lord what a question. It's hard because I have a few but so often I want to keep them sacrosanct from fanfiction because I have the only correct interpretation of the ship and won't accept others lol. The one exception is that "euchronology" story about Dean x Emily, but otherwise yeah I tend to avoid reading about ships that are special to me.

15-What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I mean, that LMM sad guy crossover feels a bit ambitious for my time right now, even though I have the elements in place. We'll see.

16-What are your writing strengths?

The prose. I've been doing this for so long that getting pretty words out onto the screen stops feeling like effort.

17-What are your writing weaknesses?

I think I get stuck in my prose and forget that a story needs momentum. And also a shape. Learning how to outline would be great haha.

18-Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

This is actually interesting considering I'm writing for a media created in another language that I partially know, so while writing the new dialogue in "The One who Takes," I was very conscious of not just "would he say that" but also "what would the sentence structure feel like" and "I am also aware that I am filtering this awareness of speech pattern through translation." I don't think I did very well, but it was a thought process.

19-First fandom you wrote for?

I mean, the first "real" OG writing I ever did was very very thinly veiled The Hero and the Crown fanfic (by Robin McKinley, another of my formative books), so I guess that one? Though I feel like I only entered fandom properly this year with The Blue Castle.

20-Favorite fic you've ever written?

"The One who Takes." I don't see that getting dethroned by any of my other ideas any time soon. I love my murder children, I achieved what I wanted with it, I feel like I was writing at the top of my form. It has every element I ever loved in a fic (star-crossed love, hurt/comfort, charged mentor/mentee relationship, unhappy ending) and the form satisfied me (unlinear, lyrical, close 3rd person POV, thematically circular). ANYWAY I'm gassing this one up so you can all check it out here if you haven't already :)))

Oh man, this is hard to answer. Each of my OCs is like a little piece of my personality, so I identify with all of them at different times lol. Right now though? Complaining long and loud about something of little consequence (for the bit), so Maria and Sportsmanship c:

A couple percolating! I have another chess smut piece I've been slowly outlining and I had an idea click into place for this piece about Hawke falling into a crevice in Sundermount and Fenris falling after her (and it's weird because it's before they get back together, and of course they're both injured, and so on)...As well as some Exchange treats I'm trying to get a solid concept together for haha

Ooh I answered this here, but the short answer is I am very picky. It's compounded by the fact that I have much less time than I used to for reading fic (tragically) so I really rely on recommendations to find things to read!

this is the (current) name of my johndean serial killer john AU that i've been percolating for... too long lol. i did post some of it before but i'll put a lil further snippet here too:

The lines on the boy's face are a little more blurred now he’s unconscious, oblivious to whatever trials and tribulations put them there. Still visible, still damaged, damage and beauty, the real candle in the wind. John feels almost bad, taking it all for himself. But if he hadn’t, someone would’ve eventually.

He can ruminate later. For now, it’s time for Dean to come out and play.

He picks up the hip flask on the floor next to him, tilts it until water drips steadily over his boy’s face. It takes a few seconds, but there’s a grunt, a stirring of his lips. Dean’s face screws up tight, the first moments of consciousness blooming over his face. Then his eyes flutter, opening on the third attempt.

They’re glassy, unseeing at first. This part can go a number of ways. Some boys throw a tantrum, thrashing around and screaming their pretty throats raw, needing varying degrees of duct tape and threats with bladed objects to subdue them. Some boys cry, some boys beg. Some of them submit immediately with this sad, passive acceptance, quiet and petrified, but not entirely surprised that this is where they ended up.

Dean, though - Dean blinks a few times. Looks down at himself, and then up at his chained wrists. His gaze strays to John’s face, the recognition dawning. Remembering the leather jacketed man at the bar who was oh so very nice to him, made him feel special, before his world went black. 

The boy scowls, a tired, ugly thing. Somehow out of place here. He mutters, “oh, come on. Really?"

Hi! This is inspired by your reblog of the talk shop tuesday post -- do you have any secret-until-now fanworks you're working on that you want to talk about? any ideas that have been percolating and you want to share?

I think - because I've started doing WiP Wednesday with ... some (not a lot, haha) of regularity that there's very few things that I'm actively working on right now that I haven't talked about to some extent but I have no problem gathering them all here. I have five fics that I'm noodling on at the moment.

How to Breathe 101. I've probably talked about this one the most because it is absolutely the closest to finished. I have random snippets all over the place on my tumblr that I've collected here: 1 2 3 4. And it comes from my love of the dynamic of Character A falls first, Character B falls harder as well as giving Derek the time and space to work out his trauma and form relationships beyond romantic ones.

Heartbeat Hustle. This was such a nothing idea that I kind of just farted around on because I wasn't feeling adding a hundred words (my daily word count goal) to any of the things that I was already working on and I came up with this: here. And it's another one I just keep randomly chipping away at. The basic premise is Derek finally hears Stiles' heartbeat at rest around him and it becomes the background noise of his entire universe without realizing it because it's just such a comforting sound for him.

PvW, Chapter 3. Yes, I'm working on it. Slowly, but I am. Chapter 3 of Prostitute vs Werewolf. (1 and 2 here). I'm still hoping it'll end at Chapter 6. I... sort of have a plan here, lol.

Steter Hanahaki. I accidented myself into this fic, which I posted about: here. Sometimes I like to just search tags on AO3 rather than fandoms and all the most popular Teen Wolf ones for Peter and Stiles that I came across were, well.... not the fun way and I have unfortunately kept chipping away at this even though writing Peter (and it is from his PoV, ugh) is such a hard thing for me to do!

Sciles, Slow Burn, Codependency Fic. I don't really know where this one came from but I think, pretty unsurprisingly, being ace, I like when friendships are the be all and end all for people and I also like when they sort of just slide into.... oops, somehow you're my whole world. And since I haven't posted anything about this one yet and it is my second longest fic on here at the moment, here's a snippet:

It’s an almost-casual college girlfriend who alerts Stiles to exactly the level of codependence he’s now sporting with Scott.  She laughs and clarifies to an acquaintance that the ‘casual’ is at her insistence and the ‘almost’ is at Scott’s.  The follow-up, the ‘why’ is nothing more than a pointed look in Stiles’ direction. Stiles feigns offense, lazily twirls a less-than-dextrous pointer finger back towards his own chest.  Perks an eyebrow.  “Moi?” She grins widely and Stiles senses a sharpness to it that’s likely fueled more by the fewer inhibitions everyone at this party is collectively experiencing, rather than true ill will.  He hopes anyway and, not to brag, but he has gotten pretty good at knowing when things want him dead. Scott chooses that moment to saunter over and instead of perching on the arm of her chair or sliding onto the large cushion of the recliner with her, he bumbles into Stiles, an arm falling around his shoulder as he pushes his drink into his hand so he can set down a plate of steaming nachos on the table in front of them. He’s a warm, familiar weight and only after he’s leaned the whole of himself into Stiles’ side does Stiles realize, if he’d planned this in advance, no part of him would’ve expected Scott to sit anywhere but exactly where he did. Stiles holds Scott’s beer and Scott scrubs a hand over Stiles’ buzzcut, frowns as he peers at Stiles’ expression.  He’s not sure what his face is doing but it prompts Scott to say, “All good?” Stiles blinks.  Swallows.  “Yeah, all’s peachy keen over in this here neck of the woods.” Scott smiles and, as though ‘neck’ was some cue word, he leans over and buries his nose in the crease between neck and shoulder, breathing deeply, and yeah, okay, they’re basically dating.  Stiles can see that but.  You know.  They’ve nearly died how many times between the years of sixteen and nineteen?  They’re entitled to be grotesquely into each other as far as he’s concerned. Maybe they’ve gotten a little worse after the nogitsune.  And the siren that nearly drowned Scott.  And the Lamia that ripped open Stiles’ torso last year.  It’s not unusual for them to fall asleep in the same bed or press lingering kisses to each other’s foreheads, cheeks, necks, but Stiles is pretty sure Scott’s one hundred percent into vagina and, while Stiles’ appetites are more varied, he’s not super interested in Scott’s dick. He’s just interested in Scott, really.  All of Scott, however much of Scott that Scott would like him to be interested in basically.  And since that doesn’t include his dick… that doesn’t include his dick.

18. Do you enjoy research?  Which fic of yours required the most research?

I LOVE doing research! Almost as much as I love writing, tbh. One of my college majors was very research-heavy so it's something that comes natural to me haha.

My WIP hasn't actually needed a ton of outside research, though, surprisingly enough. Although I do find myself needing to consult my copy of OOTP a lot as I plan this, just so I have a good idea of the timeline of how things happened in it – even though the events in my story are obviously going to happen very differently!

I've also made a sort of general, Wizarding world database for myself in google drive with notes that I took during my last re-read of canon as well as things I've looked up on the wiki. I have an entire document that's just called "Hogwarts Curriculum: Year 5" which I think is going to come in handy before long😏

43. Is there a trope or idea that you’d really like to write but haven’t yet?

I want to write some Jily!!! I've been able to sneak some tidbits of it into Kindly Stopped for Me, through the first chapter and in memories of James, but I really want to try writing my own take on how they fell in love. Maybe as a prequel to KSFM, or just a separate thing.

I also have two other fic ideas that have been percolating in my mind– one about the life and times of Professor Sprout, and the other a cute little Dorcas/Marlene at Hogwarts story. But I haven't actually written either of those yet. They just exist as empty folders in my google drive😂

6. Are there any fics from others you reread all the time? There are a few that I keep intending to reread, but at the moment I just haven't the mental energy for pretty much anything except my own stuff, which is VERY ANNOYING because there's so much good stuff out there and I want to get back into it all! >.<

7. How many ideas for fics do you have right now? *counts on fingers* uhmmmm...about five? I have four more prompts to write for my Writers' Pride Month bingo, but only about two with actual ideas so far, then there's my TRSB fic which I haven't started yet but I'm beginning to percolate, and then there's the perenially-unstarted Sigrid-and-Tauriel fic from Empty Vessel-verse, and the perenially-started-but-not-progressing Arwen's-brothers-make-their-choice fic, both of which I REALLY want to write and just can't seem to make any headway on.

8. What project(s) are you currently working on? So there's the reincarnation AU based on @piyo-13's art from Barduil Month, which is (I think, haha, famous last words) nearly done, plus the perenially ongoing WIPs Break You But You'll Mend and All I Want Is You. I'm also trying to fill my Writers' Pride Month bingo card, and I have a fantastic assignment for TRSB which is still just percolating but I'm really looking forward to getting on with once I've got the reincarnation AU and bingo out of the way. Oh yeah, and there's part 4 or whatever it is of It's Always Been You, which has been giving me issues for about two and a half years at this point. XD

9. Do you write every day? If you wrote today, share a sentence of what you’ve written!

I don't write every day, but I try to write often, and I'd say generally I write about half of my days. I've been tracking my writing, and here's a chart of how many days I've written each month and overall (as well as words written. This is day 257 of the year, so 134/257 is about 52%

I haven't written anything today, as I'm still percolating around what to do with the next Wordplay prompt, but what I've written in the past two days is now posted here!

16. At what point in the process do you come up with titles?

Usually pretty late, haha. Every now and then I have an early idea, and lately I'm trying to get in the habit of brainstorming tags and titles as I write, but that's still a work in progress.

18. What’s one of your favorite lines you’ve written in a fic?

Oh man that's a hard one. There are probably a lot I could pick from, but one of the first ones that stands out that I'm proud of and often think back to is from You Took My Heart By Surprise:

Louis had never really understood why people called it making love, had always thought it was overly pretentious and euphemistic. But as their bodies moved together that night, Harry’s head thrown back against the pillow, Louis’ muscles trembling above him, he thought he just might understand.

Partly I love this bit because it gives you absolutely no information about who is doing what -- I find discourse surrounding who is the penetrative or receiving partner to be deeply uninteresting, so I very intentionally wrote the line to avoid specifying anything, and to be able to be interpreted either way.

But I also like the line before, because I think it touches on my relationship with smut writing and reading -- oh every now and then I'll be in the mood for something Deeply Spicy, but most of the time I prefer sex that focuses on the emotions and the intimacy, that's more than just genitals and orgasms. Zero shade to anyone who prefers PWP, but as a demiromantic asexual I personally tend to find FEELINGS to be the most arousing and enrapturing part XD

not sure if youve written abt this before but what is your take on the shiv/kendall/roman's pre show mental breakdowns that are alluded to?

Ah! I don't think I have written about it before, anon, so thank you for asking!

I've been percolating a bit of late on @waystarresourceco's recent posts which have indicated that neither Kendall nor Shiv went entirely to college in America, with Kendall having his EMBA from INSEAD, not Harvard Business School like many of us (including me!) thought (he did do his undergrad at Harvard though), and with Sarah talking about Shiv going to the UK for college.

I'm interested in that for a whoooole range of reasons, haha, but what I think is particularly relevant to your ask is that it sort of emphasises this divide between the four siblings, with Connor and Roman having been sent away as children, and forever fighting their way back in there after, and Kendall and Shiv being kept close as children, only really leaving in early adulthood, but also forever having a sort of mmm, close and given seat at the table as favourite son / heir apparent and treasured / only daughter.

After all, in many ways, both Kendall and Shiv were on the same path, right? Logan laid a map for Kendall which Shiv scoured and did her own variation of to try and best him at the journey. Kendall was groomed for a role, and Shiv was groomed to be a perfect daughter, only to decide she wanted to be the perfect son. The effect of it though I think was that both of them spent formative years under pretty stifling expectations, while both Roman and Connor were forced in their formative years to develop a degree of independence because they were pushed from the nest.

As a result, I do think Kendall and Shiv both tend to thrive within structure, and that they both tend to fall apart when that structure isn't there, while Roman and Connor have learnt to thrive without it, and struggle to exist when they're forced to live within it.

Because I think that's really the implication of all of their meltdowns - Roman's seems to have occured when he had to try and work under Frank in the LA office on projects he hated, while Kendall's and Shiv's both seem to have happened when they're too long left to their own devices. It's all spill, right? Just the context of their respective abuse means it leaks under different forms of pressure.

#i think especially that it makes sense too in like #mmmm #higher education is both this really huge and interesting space for social discussion and mobility and progressive thinking #but it's also absolutely a symbol of class and wealth #which i think checks out with kendall and shiv both possessing a progressive language #and the way they both like to think they lean left even when they just lean selfish #but how that space away from home out from under logan's thumb away from expectations #while also potentially facing up to some hard truths about the politics your father's made a fortune off #was probably a bit of a molotov cocktail to deal with mentally #and roman and connor would've faced that too but i suspect in different ways #i also think all four of them are socially naive which won't help with any of this #but especially shiv and kendall #which again is probably symptomatic of all of this right? #idk! i hope this makes sense haha i'm still on a lot of cold and flu meds #hbo succession #succession meta #welcome to my ama

Okay I have a dumb idea and if I follow through it'd be a surprise for the only ppl I talk to irl so I'm dumping about it here haha.

I love this program called RPG Maker MV, I've been working on my own cute rpg game for a while. Kinda feeling stuck on it, just creatively. Thought I'd take a break for a while, let it percolate.

I had this cool idea to, while taking a break from my main game, make this two player game for my buddies. The three of us love to play little indie horror games... SOOOOOO I think I'll try making one!

First issue, obviously I dont have the ability to make a multiplayer online game. Yikes. So I'm going to try to do something similar to the game The Past Within, something I've played with one of these friends. Where each player has a complete copy of the game and while technically playing completely separate, two ppl have to play in tandem to complete the game. One person gives clues to the other to complete tasks. Super creepy, very fun. VERY hard to wrap my head around for the act of CREATING puzzles.

Few major ideas :

I'd love a chess type level where one person has a chess or something game in front of them and has to instruct the other person where to move things.

A maze where one player is in the dark and the other has to tell them where to go

Puzzles where the thing you win is a code or name or something the other player needs to unlock the next thing

I'd love some kind of "only one gets to live" twist ending, ESPECIALLY if I can work out some kind of "you can sabotage the other person, lie and say that YOU will die and give them a bad code and then get them killed". I really feel like these two friends specifically would have a lot of fun with that (devil emoji).

I've already titled it Two Sides of One Coin, cuz both of these girls liked Merlin (BBC) back in the day and will get the ref. Plus I think it plays nicely into the theme of "you can't see each other but you can affect each other and work together/against each other".

Congratulations on the Luke card, Zak!! He finally came home! The story was excellent, wasn't it? It and Luke's personal story 4 pushed Luke all the way up to my favourite along with Vyn, and was my favourite card of them all (barring Artem who I still don't have and probably won't get in time but also I highly doubt he can beat Luke.) Now Vyn's the best in terms of looks and Luke covers the story-loving part of me.

I've mentioned playing ToT because it reminded me of Ace Attorney before, and while it hasn't reminded me of Ace Attorney in a while that main story commemoration video reminded me so much of Ace Attorney's credits, which I loved so much. Seeing all the people mc has helped living their best lives was emotional enough in the birthday events where they'd make small appearances and in Mirage of the Blooming Swords where they played minor roles but both times they were mainly only there to further the story so seeing a whole video talk about what they've done after their cases was...that was when it really started to sink in. The reminder that aside from the big conspiracies and romance and many bittersweet endings, there were so many people mc helped along the way. I loved that about the credit roll in Ace Attorney, and I love it here. Honestly, the video's very up there in terms of my favourite things to come from the anniversary just below the cards.

THE STORY REALLY WAS SO GOOD GOD....ive been trying to get my thoughts in order about it to write something and what struck me so much was how messy and contradictory luke's love is, and how the resolution of it is so messy and imperfect too. like, getchu a fuckin confession card that has the LI arguing for mc to love anybody but him....LUKE PLEASE. but theres something else i wanna talk about but im still not yet completely sure how to articulate it or what it even IS so im letting the story percolate in my head jshvfjhdf. until then, the overall feeling ive gotten from luke's ps 4 and anniv card is Sublime Satisfaction. cuz the buildup and the steps forward along with all the so many steps backwards, it all built up so perfectly to this.......//LOUD SOBBING

i wanna go watch the other cards once im done with artem's ps 4 (i slowed down once i finished vyn's cuz i think i oversaturated myself JHVJSHFVKSJHDF) cuz i love them all, HAHA

AND YEAH GOD, THE MAIN STORY COMMEMORATION VID IS SO GOOD.....everything about it is so good for all the bits you said, u hit the nail on the head. in makes me so emotional, just the whole concept that good ripples out.....it Does do something and make a difference....
